Mission (only not really a "mission" per say, this is just for flavor): To get Bellamy and Luke home without them being identified as digimon (or pets by family).
Objective #1: Get from Shibuya Train Station to the James family apartment.
Three pairs of feet disembarked the Trailmon carriage at the secret underground platform that led to the digital world. First the purple feet of an Impmon, the red feet of an Elecmon, and the shoe-clad feet of a human. Colin James and his twin partners Luke and Bellamy had finally arrived home on Earth after a long time of adventuring on the digital world.
Colin quickly looked at the clocks above. It wasn't even 4pm. This was good, he still had quite a while to get home. Of course, barring factors that would slow him and make things difficult later, this was time enough. His home was a twenty minute walk from Shibuya station, and his parents would be home at around half past five. However, the factors of his older sister and brother were more of an issue here.
"Yo Colin" Bellamy said, drawing his attention. The boy was slightly startled but looked down at him curiously. "Any chance of a bite to eat before we head off?"
"Well..." Colin said hesitantly. He would rather get home as soon as possible, but, once they were home it would be harder for him to get food for his partners without detection. So, now was probably the best time for a snack. "Okay, yeah let's do that" he said, walking up to the kiosk. He quickly got his partners some filling food and let them eat for a little while. He passed the opportunity, he'd eat later.
Following that, Colin took his belongings from the locker, and turned on his phone. He gave a breath of relief to see that there were no new messages. A worry of his was that the inbox would be full of questions from his parents demanding to know where he was.
With that done, they made their way to the elevator. They were sharing it with a boy slightly older than Colin, who had a Hawkmon as a partner.
"Heh, no disguises?" the Hawkmon asked. "Well hopefully you'll have a good excuse for the humans that look at you, heh heh"
"What about you birdbrain? You ain't disguised" said Bellamy.
"Au contraire" said the Hawkmon, and before their very eyes, seemingly transformed into a human boy. "These holosuits work wonders, if you can afford them"
"...oh frag my day" Bellamy said, facepalming. "Well we just happen to be smart enough to deal without 'em, thank you" he snapped, then realized that they were barely halfway to the surface. By the time the elevator doors were opened, a feeling of malice was rich in the elevator. With that, they made their way into the hustle and bustle of Shibuya station. Colin had to think fast, he couldn't just have Luke and Bellamy walk next to him casually, not with all these people around.
"Quick, Luke, jump up" he said. Luke shrugged and did what he was told, the Elecmon jumping up and letting Colin carry him. Meanwhile Colin took off his jacket. "Bellamy, put this on, make sure your tail's hidden, then hold my hand"
"Hm? Eh... fine" Bellamy said, sighing, putting the jacket on, tucking his tail inside. It was damn uncomfortable, but, it would do. And so from here, Colin looked like a simple eccentric teenager carrying a plushie and walking with a little brother dressed up as some sort of mascot. People gave them looks, yes, but not second looks, which was the main thing.
Up the escalators, through the corridors and finally onto the streets. Colin, Luke and Bellamy were unimpeded on their walk home. Now the apartment awaited...
Objective #2: Get the twins safely into Colin's room.
Colin entered the elevator to the building where his apartment was with a feeling of relief. His partners accompanied him, also somewhat glad to be out of the open.
"Geez, Colin, can you get any more tense?" Bellamy asked, taking his hand out of Colin's and rubbing it from where it had been squeezed a bit tightly. "Just relax okay? We're not gonna be nabbed by the Men in Black just from 20 minutes out in the open"
"I know, yeah, just... I've never done this before" Colin said, speaking quickly. Luke was mostly silent for the moment, mainly because he was kind of comfortable being carried like this. "Anyway, the hard part is coming up... I don't know what to do if one of my family's home early"
"I'm sure you can handle it, Col" Bellamy said, a bit more gently this time. Thankfully the Impmon realized how important this was for Colin, and by extension, to them. The elevator dinged as it reached Colin's floor, and revealed a thankfully empty corridor. He walked down until he reached the door to his family apartment, then took out his keycard, taking a deep breath, putting Luke down.
"I'll check first, you guys wait here and wait for my signal" Colin said. The twins nodded. Colin swiped the card and heard the door unlock. He opened it, then checked. It didn't look like anyone was home, the TV was off, nobody was in the kitchen. He was just about to call the twins when he heard footsteps and a door opening.
"Ah, Colin, there you are!" said a female voice. Colin jumped and saw his older sister approaching. Sophie was still slightly taller than him, but he was fast catching up. She had the same black hair and dark eyes that he had, and was dressed in a fashionable outfit. "Where were you? I thought you'd be home at 3"
"Er, sorry, I missed my train" Colin said quickly.
"Ah well, understandable" Sophie said. "No harm done in the end, but any later and I would've been annoyed. Anyway, now that you're here, could you please get dinner started at 5? Mom asked me to do it but then my schoolfriends asked me to come with them for dinner, and I couldn't have gone if you weren't here, so, now you are, and that's all right now"
She was somewhat hurried in her speech as she was more busy writing down cooking instructions for him. Colin struggled to listen, but hoped that she wouldn't see his partners outside.
"Oh, do you know where Riku is?" Colin asked quickly about his older brother.
"Boxing practice, I guess, he'll be home around when mom and dad are" Sophie said, finishing her list. "Well then, that's everything" Sophie said. "Tell mom and dad I'll be home around eight, okay?"
"Sure" Colin said, nodding. Even if Sophie was 17, they tended to get annoyed if she came home late. With that, Sophie grabbed her bag and walked out the door. Colin braced, then heard her stop. Sophie peered in through the open door.
"Oh. Heh, Colin I didn't know you were still into plushies" Sophie said, smiling.
"Well, uh, they're pretty popular in my class I guess" Colin said, shrugging. Thankfully she was in too much of a hurry to double check on them and rushed off down the corridor. Colin then walked out, picked up his thankfully still partners, then put them on the sofa, closing the door.
"It's alright, guys" Colin said to them, wiping the sweat off his brow. "We're home".
Objective #3: Stakeout
From here, it all seemed to be smooth sailing. Luke and Bellamy remained in Colin's room for the rest of the day. For the two digimon, it wasn't that bad of a deal. They had entertainment in that Colin had a small television with a video game console; they had warmth and shelter, so they both were comfortable, and as an emergency measure, whenever the door opened, both would fall to the floor and lay motionless as they pretended to be plush dolls. Even Bellamy put up with this inconvenience without complaint, knowing how important it was that he remained undetected.
Colin meanwhile was busy preparing dinner. It was over an hour before they saw him again, with the house sounding full quite quickly.
"Hope we can cope" Luke muttered to Bellamy, a little concerned about there being five humans here - four that they needed to watch out for. Eventually, Colin finally entered his bedroom, closing and locking the door behind him.
"...Alright!" he said, taking a deep breath. "We're all set for the night"
"About time" Bellamy said, grinning. "Now, Col, can ya tell us how this works?" he indicated the gaming console.
What followed was probably the most fun night Colin had had so far since moving to Japan. His partners proved to be avid gamers, the three of them thoroughly enjoying most of Colin's library before the knock at the door came at 10pm. From the other side, it was Colin's mother telling him to get ready for bed soon, since it was a school day tomorrow.
"Okay, mom" Colin said, sighing as he turned off the console. He knew if he objected, they would demand to open the door and start growling. He quickly got changed into his pajamas, then proceeded to brush his teeth. When he returned, he realized just how tired he was as he sat on the bed.
"So, Colin, do ya know where we're gonna sleep?" Bellamy asked. Colin's eyes widened, he realized he hadn't set up beds for the twins yet. They couldn't just sleep on the floor, that would be terrible manners.
"We can sleep with you if that's okay" Luke offered.
"Uh... yeah" Colin said, nodding. "Yeah that sounds good" he smiled. Before long, he tucked himself into bed, which was thankfully big enough for Bellamy and Luke at either side. Both of them were remarkably warm and soft as they leaned up against him. But he didn't remain awake long enough to appreciate this, he fell asleep within minutes.
"...Bellamy" Luke whispered after a short while of slow, deep breaths from Colin, thankfully free from snoring.
"Yeah?" Bellamy whispered back.
"I think we picked a great partner"
"Heh. Yeah, me too"
Filled with warmth and comfort, the twins soon followed their partner to sleep.
