Ruminations of a Little Bear [Tetsu]

"Dat looks fun~" Tetsu commented at Brad's exercise and do the same himself. He listened to Brad's explanation. There are difficult words here and there, but Gryz explained it in layman term for him, so he understood much better. He tilted his head when he said something about emotions being a strong thing in this world. So apparently positive emotions can evolve Digimon like before? Tetsu looked at Gryz who stays still in his zen face.
"So dis thing called Digivice... would somehow evolve Gryz again?"
"Yep, that's how it is," the Wanyamon replied, nodding... or better moves his body up and down slightly. "If you can evolve me, I'll be the same like Brad, or so I hope. Maybe a bit bigger and fatter, but still a Bearmon anyway. Or so I hope..."
"Say Brad," Tetsu asked again. "Do ya Digimons need ta eat too? Drink? What about going to da loo?"
"...Well that's awkward," Gryz muttered.
"Then then, why does Digimon evolve?"

"Hmm. So the theory goes" Brad said, looking at the digivice. "I have no idea how it works... if I did I daresay I'd be somewhat smarter than I am now" he chuckled. He agreed that Gryz would probably be like him when he evolved.
"And don't worry if you don't become a Bearmon, there's lots of other types of digimon you can evolve into that are still quite delightful" Brad said. "Wanyamons often evolve into Gaomons so I'm told. Or Strabimon..." he looked at Tetsu, wondering if he knew what those digimon looked like. And if not, he wondered how to explain them to him. Oh well. He'd do his best if asked.
Then Tetsu asked if digimon needed to eat or drink. "Hmm. I'd say yes, we do definitely need to eat. But there's lots of food conveniently placed throughout the digital world for that sort of thing" Brad assured Tetsu. "As for drinking? Well... I do feel refreshed after a nice drink but I don't often feel the need to. And..." ah, that last thing. Brad chuckled a little like a small child hearing a toilet joke. "Yes, well, it's done discreetly and we don't really talk about it" he said.
And why digimon evolve? Brad hummed a little as he tried to think of an answer to that. In the end, he could think of nothing better than "Well... we just do, I think".

Sounds like even Brad have no exact idea, but Tetsu understands. From what he said, he's apparently a partnerless one, so if he have no idea about Digivice all that much, no one should blame him. Tetsu only nodded and rubs his tummy again in a sign of appreciation that he at least honest that he have no exact idea. Rather than being misleading, Tetsu loves it more if someone admitted that they have no idea. He loves that sort of bravery.
"Eeeeh," Gryz whined lightly. "I still want to be a Bearmon though. I mean, Strabimon felt a bit cold and edgy. I'm afraid I'll spew stuff about justice... and if I become Gaomon, I don't want to spin, spin and spin endlessly to attack. I'd rather do lariat than nonsensical twisting attack."
Hmmm, apparently Digimon is pretty much like human? Well, in that case it'll be easier for him. He certainly also giggled when Brad giggled about the toilet joke, but hey, that's important! Afterall he have no idea if they need litter box or something! What if they acted like animals that cares no place to drop stuff?
"Hmmm... evolvin' 'cuz ya just do? So not 'cuz somethin' like danger?"

Brad once again giggled, lying down and letting Tetsu rub his belly. Such a pleasant feeling. He hoped more humans would treat him like this. Ah, it must be nice to have a human partner.
The Bearmon smiled at Gryz's choice of rookie level. "Well then, if you really want it, I'm sure you will evolve into Bearmon" he said, smiling. "I haven't met any Strabimon or Gaomon myself, but I will admit that spinning to attack is silly".
Brad then wondered why it was that digimon evolved, perhaps because of danger. "Well yes, quite often evolving in response to danger is a common thing" he said. "To some digimon it just happens when it feels right for them. However... I believe digimon can evolve in response to a digivice a little bit easier. I'm not quite sure about that."
He smiled at Tetsu. "Well then. Now that you're here in the digital world with your partner, what do you want to do now? Would you like me to show you around places? Despite how nice it is out here talking and you rubbing my tummy sometimes, I gather we can't stay here forever".

So Digimon probably does evolve when they're in danger. What sort of other condition that triggers it then? Tetsu wanted to know, but... but probably Brad doesn't know more than that. Maybe because Digimons doesn't really think as of why they evolved... well, that's fine he guess. He wondered again what should he even ask next... but luckily Brad give him a good idea!
"Hey... ya see, I came 'ere with a train! Do 'dey got some specific route or somethin'? How can I know where it leads to? What sort of place exists here?"
"Hmmm, should we move then, Brad?" Gryz asked. "To the nearest waiting platform that is."

Brad was eager to answer brightly. "Well, the Trailmon network covers the entire world. There's basically five regions you can visit. The frozen North, the tropical South, the desert West and the forest East. And at the centre of it all is Terminus City, at the top of a vast plain in the middle of this continent".
The Bearmon thought on his travels around the digital world. So far he had only been East and within Terminus City itself. He would perhaps one day like to explore more of this place. But that could wait another time perhaps.
"The Trailmon operate by a timetable, so hopefully you can find when they arrive on each station" he continued. "And I gather if you ask them nicely or pay them enough, you could possibly even hire them to take you somewhere" he continued. A nice Trailmon once helped him out this way.
Gryz asked if they should move to the platform to wait for the next Trailmon. "Of course, let's do that" Brad said, standing up. He walked down the slope toward the platform up ahead. Once they were there, he sat down to wait on the provided seat. It was exciting in a way, preparing for a long journey by patiently waiting.
"Do you know when the next Trailmon is scheduled to arrive, Tetsu?" Brad asked.

Huh, Tetsu took out a notebook and start writing what Brad said. So to the north is frozen, to the south is tropic, to the west is arid land, to the east is forest? The center is Terminus City and if he's right about it, it was the place where he came from just then. He made a very simple map. Despite his inability to make a really nice map, he already made a perfect circle easily on the center, then draw an indicator of direction. He gave small notes on the part of the world.
"...Er, I can't draw map, but... 'dis should be good?" he showed it to Brad.
Hmmm, so the Trailmon operates with timetable. He also know what's timetable is, so it's good enough. He nodded in understanding, but agreed that they probably need to jot down the time table first. Hmmm. He approached the time table, jot it and turned around to Brad who asked.
"Mmmm, 'dis said it'll come in..." he pulled his digivice and saw that it's showing time. Thank lord. "In thirty minutes... goin' to Village of Beginning.Ta' Terminus in two hours."

Brad looked at the map that Tetsu illustrated. Yep, just a circle with the features of each region drawn in. "Yes, that will do quite nicely" he said, nodding with a smile. "My advice is also perhaps avoid going to the North until Gryz has a nice pelt of fur perhaps?" he said, looking at the Wanyamon. "Also there's fearsome digimon up that way with little civilization, so there's that to be wary of too" he warned. "Other than that, the other three regions may be reasonable for explorers such as yourself".
Then they walked to the timetable. Tetsu said the next train would go to the Village of Beginnings in half an hour, and the one after that would go to Terminus City.
"Hmm... I see" Brad said, scratching his chin. "That's quite a long wait... but the Village of Beginnings isn't far from here. We could take a quick visit there if you would like to see the birthplace of most digimon in this world? I think the Trailmon to Terminus City will stop there in time regardless".
He left it up to Tetsu for that. He was quite happy to take a nap for that time while they waited for the Trailmon to arrive to take them back to Terminus.

"Thick pelt of fur like a Gryzmon much appreciated," the Wanyamon quipped. "Then again, this make me curious... Brad, did you have any sort of problem with your smaller size for a Bearmon? I mean, when you goes to the north, that is. Granted, you can wear clothes, but I'm quite curious..."
Hmmm, still, to go to the village of beginning or should they do something else like waiting train to the terminus? In any case, for Tetsu, it all smells like adventure. He turned his head to Gryz, hoping that he would decide for them. He blinked and thought of it for a while.
"...I'd like to talk to Elecmon about that mercenary. I mean, he abandoned his job, so Elecmon have to be informed so something like this won't happened anymore. That's for the safety of most. What about you, Brad?"

"Hmm..." Brad pondered Gryz's question as he asked if being small was a problem. "Well, it can be, I guess I can't push people around as effectively as I would if I were bigger, but then again, I haven't had much inclination to" he chuckled. "And yes, a Gryzmon's fur would be most appropriate for the North. Oh... so that's why you're named Gryz is it? You'd like to evolve into Gryzmon?" he asked, interested.
So Gryz would like to go to the village? Bearmon nodded, smiling. "Excellent. We should have over an hour there if my thinking is right" he said, brightly. "Well then. It's still half an hour till the next train, so, why don't you tell me a little about yourself while we're waiting, Tetsu? You seem like a nice human. What were you doing before you entered the digital world?"
The Bearmon's blue eyes looked at him with interest. He was eager to hear another human's story. Especially that they had little better to do than to wait for the Trailmon.

"Hmn? Well, you're not wrong," Gryz replied with his trademark calm face, "but see, I'm named by a seeress, so it's not exactly my pick on that. Well, I'm fine with just being a lovely bear, though. A loved bear is much better than a scary bear that would maul. So I'll keep my face calm and dorky..."
Tetsu giggled at his partner's response, but then the topic shifted to him. He pointed at himself just to make sure. "Well, I came from da countryside, far side o' Japan called Hokkaido. Me pa is a farma', 'e got a huge farm, many worka' an' such... Well, we're not rich or rollin' in money, but live is good. We got lot o' cows and sheeps, also horses. I like ridin' horses, they're fast! We live in small village, but "
"According to my data," Gryz said "horses are like Shima Unimon without the horn or stripes."
"Well, life is good an' all, but one day a storm just... came. It destroyed a lot o' things... Killed many o' my animal friends..." he looked a bit sad, but then shook his head. "'Pa goin' ta fix everythin' tho, so it's all good. Now we moved ta Tokyo... It's differen' from da countryside, lot o' cars, lot o' busy people... In me village, we just take our time an' relax, so it looks like Tokyo people is so busy with their life."

"Heh heh, that's the way" Brad said, pleased at Gryz's outlook. "Well, hopefully not everything the seeress says will come true. I mean... can we not as individuals control our own destinies?" he pondered. "I mean, yes one day you may end up as a Belphemon, of course if it's in your data then that's okay. But... well, I hope the seeress didn't predict any acts that you might make?" he asked, curiously.
On to Tetsu now. "Ohh, so you're a farmer?" he asked, interested. "From... H-okay-do? I have no idea where that place is" the Bearmon admitted. "Cows... sheeps... and horses?" Brad repeated. Thankfully Gryz provided a brief explanation of what horses looked like. "Ohh, well, if they're not too wild then that must be wonderful" he said.
"Oh dear" Brad remarked at the storm, about how it killed lots of animals. There was little he could say on the matter that might make things better. But at least Tetsu had a positive outlook.
"Hmm. Yes, I feel the same way in Terminus City" Brad admitted. "However, I guess I have to go there sometimes to make an earning" he smiled. "At least... as far as I know. One day, I'd quite like to go out on an adventure with my friends... unfortunately I don't seem to have many at the moment".
After about half an hour, a Trailmon Buffalo appeared on the horizon. Complete with four carriages, most of them containing about half a dozen digimon, he slowed down by the platform and came to a stop.
"Heading to the Village of Beginnings?" he asked them.
"Yes, we are thank you" Brad said, standing up. "After you" he offered to Tetsu and Gryz as a carriage door popped open.

"Even if we can't," Gryz started, looking as calm as always "you could make the best outta it. Like for example, I become a Belphemon, then so be it. I'll probably make sure to tell them that I'm not a hostile guy. Let's say... hmmm, for example, I'll probably get a big dollar necklace, made of gold then a sunglasses... just kidding, teehee." After that small joke, Gryz looked at Brad with his usual look and shook his head.
"Anyway, no, the seeress herself believed that all action is taken with a meaning. There might be a flow that can nudge you to the future, but the flow is of course not always unable to be fought against. We're ultimately the one who decides to follow the flow or to swim against it. That's what she said."
Looks like Brad is confused about the words Tetsu used though, oh my. "Hokkaido is an area in Japan. Japan is a nation, like they're consisted of many many cities, one where the Trailmon terminal ends in if you goes to the real world. Cows looks like... Bullmon, but without the armor, and they're more bigger... I guess. Meanwhile sheeps are like Sheepmon without the launcher and their fur are white."
So Brad also loves to go on adventure.
"Me too, I'd like to go on adventure, but I need to wait until I'm strong enough," Gryz said, but his facial feature relaxed further at the next words. "And I'm a pro at relaxing."
The two entered the Trailmon. As usual Tetsu still doesn't believe that this thing is living...
"...Don't worry, this one won't kick you out."
...Looks like that nudging is good enough for him. He entered the Trailmon.

Brad chuckled at the mental image of a big bad Belphemon deciding to wear accessories like that. "That would certainly be a sight to behold" he remarked, hoping that Gryz's sense of humour would pass to his seemingly inevitable final form of the demon lord Belphemon.
That philosophy on the subject of fate was quite interesting too. "I see. Well, I hope you keep the right choices in mind when the time comes for you to attain that form" the Bearmon said.
Brad then tried to understand what Hokkaido was. "Ah, so... Japan is like a server in the digital world, and Hokkaido is like a region?" he asked, scratching his head. Hopefully that was the reality of things. And Cows and Sheep? They sounded interesting.
"Hmm... I see vague images of what you say, but I suppose I won't know the truth of it until I see them" Brad said, smiling. "Maybe one day I'll see them for myself?" he suggested.
They entered the Trailmon, although Brad noted that Tetsu seemed to be hesitant. "Oh of course, they won't throw you out now" he said. "At least I think?" he muttered, hopefully.
"Regardless, I always find it relaxing travelling by Trailmon" he said, looking out the window. "One adventure to another, that's the way. Although I hope you find what you're looking for at the Village of Beginnings".

"I'd rap if I could rap," the Wanyamon commented, looking relaxed as always "but definitely can't, so I guess I won't bother. I'm suck at rhyming, but punning... I'm sure I can kill someone by freezing them with my pun."
"...Best not," Tetsu muttered. Tetsu unfortunately not the guy who likes pun at all unless they're good. However, later he would learn to his dismay that his fear proven to be true. Gryz' pun is another level of lame and frosty.
"Of course, of course. Would hate it if I suddenly turn all evil and stuff," Gryz commented. "Also, not sure if Japan is like a server... how to say... let's say it's like this... you got a king, a king rule an entire area... Assume this one king control one area called 'Japan'... 'Hokkaido' is part of this 'Japan'. It's complex. Human stuff are different from Digimon stuff..."
Then Brad seem to wish him goodluck on his endeavor, much to the Wanyamon's contentment. "Don't worry, I already found what I'm looking for. I'm just going there... to ask someone to sue that mercenary that was hired."
