Of Grandpa and Grandchildren [Karma/Legy]

A boy dressed in kimono walked out from his room. He totally dislikes this sort of formalities, but for his dearest grandpa, he can't even object. The old man who often have verbal match with his mother, each with their own way of insulting one another literally begged him to meet his so called 'cousins'. Well, not that he know any of them. His brother, living alone near the dorm expresses his regret to not being able to be present due to finals. This means only him is here to meet lot of people he haven't known before.
Tetsu fiddled with his thumbs. He really don't want to meet them if he can be honest... his cousins especially. He heard one is from Canada. Pulling global map, that's like in other side of the world! Meanwhile, while the other two aren't as foreign because they came from Tokyo... he's afraid that he'll be judged because his accent. He speaks with very thick Hokkaido accent afterall. His brother often laughs at him and say "'ey, ya don't fit Hokkaido stereotype at all! Dey all say we're hospitable, outgoing and all, and look at ya, being a squirrel!"
...Remembering that made him a bit annoyed somehow.
"...Jus' ya see, bro..."
The boy quickly joined his father and mother who's preparing themselves. While his mother is wearing a formal kimono, his father wears simple kimono, far simpler than his own. It made him wonder if he's trying to let his wife take the stage or it's just his habit?
"Pops, do ya think 'dey won't make fun of me?"
"As long as ya teach 'em who's the boss, 'den ya will be fine," his mother answered in his stead. "Ya know what, I'll let ya smack 'dem if dey being mean to ya!"
That's not reassuring.

Shikon was tugging on her kimono, being nervous. While she had arrived a month ago in Shibuya, she wasn't expecting to assist to a formal event so soon in her new life. Uncle Hayato wasn't really helping on the matter, himself seemingly nervous, but much more at ease at the idea of the event. To be even more frustrating, he didn't want to explain what event they would assist, only saying with a satisfied smile that she shouldn't worry so much and that she'll like the surprise.
Taking a deep breath, she just hoped she wouldn't be making a fool out of herself. After all, it would be bad to make bad first impressions when starting a new life.
'' Uncle Hayato ? ''
'' Yes Shikon ? ''
'' You are sure that it is going to be alright? I mean, I don't get why I have to dress up and be pretty in that case... It doesn't help you won't tell me why! ''
He just laughed. Laughed. The jerk. He put his hand on her head, softly ruffling her hair before answering correctly.
'' I know you are worried Shikon, but trust me. It is going to be alright, you are probably going to have fun and be glad you overcome that worry. Let's just spent some time as a family, okay? ''
'' ... Okay. ''
Smiling at him timidly, she took his hand and followed him, knowing soon she'll get her answer. She did trust him, but she had to know in order to keep the mask! Pouting a bit, she batted her eyes at him before asking :
'' Uncle ? ''
'' Yes my little gem ? ''
'' After this, no matter what... can we go get ice cream? And see the koi fishs? ''
Some more laughter, softer this time and very fond of the one directed at, answered her.
'' Sure thing little gem, I promise. ''

In their own little room for getting ready, Izanami sat by herself as her mother was busy garbing her brother with his own kimono. She had a mild disliking to all this very old-fashion wardrobe they were being made to wear, but these visits to gramps were generally once a year; and her mother wanted to make it count. The girl was clearly anxious, she not very good with dealing with people; something that she embarassingly enough knew was something she had difficulty with.
Unfortunately for Mr. Murukami, he was busy caught up with work; though Izanami had heard that frankly her grandfather didn't really like the man much. He was one of those gruff old folks who could be quite picky about things, though she almost could reason the possibility that her father was just making an excuse so he didn't have to come.
Seeing her daughter's mild distress, Mrs. Murkaumi (a rather tall, but gentle woman with a passing resemblance to her daughter with a pair of glasses adorning her face) after finishing dressing her wheelchair-bound brother; she walked towards her daughter. Bending down so she could be face-to-face with her, she smiled gently. "It won't be that bad. Put a smile on for your dear grandfather, he's been dying to see you two." She would gently speak before motioning for her daughter to get up. "And you'll get to finally meet one of your cousins. She's about your age actually... new to Japan, so please give her a warm welcome."
While Izanami was naturally a fairly moody creature, she could not help but slightly perk up for the kind-hearted woman that was her mother. "... Okay mom."
In truth, there was a lot going in Izanami's mind beyond maybe making a fool out of herself. There WAS still that weird gem creature that she and Izanagi found a bit ago... the one that called itself a "Digimon". It's since has not spoke to them, so they've done the next best thing and have locked it up in Izanami's room. She and her brother have been doing a good job at keeping their parents mostly oblivious to it, it helping that they were busy folks who have not picked up the signs that something was amiss. All she could hope was that it didn't go and wreck her room while they were gone...
But for now, she had other things to worry bout. Mainly concerning her dear grand pap.

Ameno Rokurou, seventy something years old. He's an old man that looked as if he's still in his prime. That sort of man was currently sitting on absurdly huge room that function as a living room. That old man awaits for his grandchildren to come to this room. Oh, have someone mentioned that he got private staffs too? Because he totally does!
"Good afternoon, father, you looks as wrinkly as always," of course the first shot must came from the thirty eight years old daughter Miharu.
"And you're faking your accent again. This foolish daughter of mine, why didn't you came faster when I asked you to?"
"Because I'm not in mood for meeting with Enma-sama before the desired time."
"...You, are you telling me that you treated your father like an Enma?"
"Oh my, I don't treat you that way, father dearest. You're truly an Enma, you know?"
...This sort of banter resumed without the slightest care in the world. Even Tetsu's father was getting uncomfortable and wished that he won't be pulled to this sort of situation. Tetsu meanwhile just wondering if this would stop anytime soon? He looked at his grandfather, who for a split second looked at him and smiled, then continue more verbal duel with his mother.
"...I wonder what would grandma do if she's here," he muttered.
"Probably she would have hit your grandfather with her slipper like last time when I tried to ask permission to marry your mother and your grandfather disagreed. She's the reason why we can get married without any hitch."
"...I sure hope that my cousins would come soon."
"...Speaking of which, I'll just say, I've never met your mother's siblings before."
"...Eh!?"

They had arrived at a fancy house, more like mansion, that Shikon was starting to sent some pointed look at her uncle that ignored her with ease. He had practice in the domain after all. Walking confidently, not even needing the staff to guide him to destination, made the girl more than stressed.
'' Uncle Hayato! I thought you said that we would spent some fun time as a family! Not going into a stranger house! ''
'' I didn't lie, little gem. I did say that, and I was very litteral when I said we would spent some time as a family. ''
'' EH?!? ''
Blushing from rage a bit, shw was yanking his sleeve softly in hope for answers. Why going in a stranger house had any link with spending time as a family, even more litterally? It didn't make any sense! He was chuckling and ruffling again her hair gently, which frustrated even more. What was so funny?!?
'' What do you mean? Uncleeee! Don't be mean and explain! '' At that point, she was pouting and using almost every trick of the book to get him to answer, especially since it seemed they were almost there.
'' It is very simple Shikon : you are getting to meet the rest of the family. I would have talked about it if Yoko wouldn't have tried to chew me alive to speaking about them when she didn't. I understand that she didn't really wished to keep contact with the family, with father attitude to her moving, then with mother... Well, so there we are, Shikon, get ready to meet the family. Father is going to love you so much, little gem. ''
'' Wait, what? Family? Meeting? What?!? Stop, stop, I'm ready, I can't -''
She was panicking at this point, the mask couldn't keep still with that bomb being metaphorically dropped onto her. She was going to meet family? NOW?!? She couldn't, she wouldn't. What if they didn't like her, what if they hated her, made fun of her, her sickness-
Hayato hands on her shoulders, squeezing them softly, made her stop in her thought. Looking into his eyes, he whispered to her softly, rassuringly and confidently :
'' Listen to me Shikon, take a deep breath for me. I believe and you and if I had thought you weren't ready for this, I would have reported this meeting for you, father eagerness be damned. I know you can do this, without any problem. So breathe in, breathe now, and smile little gem. In time, I hope you'll be able to drop the mask like you do with me. But for now, be you and enjoy the moment. Okay? ''
'' ... Okay uncle Hayato... Thank you. ''
Nodding to her, he released her shoulders, before opening the doors with a big grin on his face, only to drag Shikon inside with him, who was blushing, embarassed to be dragged around like that.
'' Father, I'm ho-ome! Your favorite son have returned and brought Shikon with him! ''
'' UNCLE! ''
The sound of laugfhter resonated in the living room while the doors closed behind him, after Shikon shout of indignation and embarassement, turning a tomato herself.
What a way to make an entrance.

With the pieces in place, Natsumi Murukami; the leading woman of the Murukami family smiled at her finely dressed kids as she led them to the main living room with everyone else. As always, her father took his children's teasing in stride; it being a bit of a tradition to tease the man. Of course, she too was perfectly happy with adding to the fire. "Natsumi Murukami here for judgement Enma-sama. Kids are here too. Kenji wimped out though." The spectacled woman would casually comment as her own kids followed close behind. She waved to the other adults in the room, happy to see her own siblings once more. "Miharu, Hayato! It's so good to see you all again! Especially you Hayato... it's been so long that I can't quite remember the last time we've actually seen eachother face-to-face... Is Yoko doing okay? Oh yeah, Kenji couldn't make it. He's terrified of Enma as usual." She'd casually spoke, her attention drawn to Hayato especially.
Compared to Izanami who waited behind her mother, Izanagi; the wheelchair-bound older brother of the family put on a cheery expression as he rolled up towards his elder. It was pretty clear that his inability to walk did not bother his mood one bit. "Oy grampa Ameno-sama! Doing alright?" The young man would say before eyeing his younger cousin. "And little ole Tetsu! You've grown since I last saw you! You were like the tiniest thing ever! How's my man doing?" He would say, wheeling up to the lil' kid and ruffling his hair up some.
"Now now Izanagi, don't smother your poor grandpa and little nephew just yet." Mrs. Murukami would be quick to interrupt Izanagi's cheerful assault on her sibling and nephew, wheeling him back some and directing him and Izanami towards Hiyato. "Izanagi, Izanami. You've not met this man unlike aunt Miharu... this is Uncle Hiyato, my brother." She then turned towards her sibling. "And vice-versa, these are the kids. Izanagi and Izanami, say hello."
"Nice to meet you." "Pleased to meet you!" Both kids would greet the adult, though it was clear that of the two Izanami was the least thrilled to be here. Not that she disliked these people... she just felt like a fish out of water here. She was very insecure of how others thought about her, she being terrified of the thought of humiliating herself.
Seeing who was the weak link here at the moment, Izanami's mother was quick to devise a way to get some interaction going between the families. She did not want to let this little reunion to go to waste after all. "Care to introduce your Yoko's kid? Izanami is her age and is a little shy."
"I'm NOT shy mom." Izanami was quick to add in somewhat aggressively to her mother's question, though her mother did not bother responding.

The banter continued for some more time until honestly Tetsu only can roll his eyes. It's not exactly what he have in mind for family gathering, but living in the grandfather's house totally means that he seen this pretty much daily since the first day he arrived here, which is prolly two weeks ago. His father only can sigh. Luckily, they're saved by untimely appearance of his uncle, who unfortunately Tetsu haven't dared yet to look at.
"THIS FOOLISH SON OF MINE," suddenly the grandpa thundered "YOU'RE THE ONLY MALE AMONG MY CHILDREN, SO THAT'S NOT SAYING ANYTHING, FOOL! IF YOU REALLY WANT TO GO THAT FAR--Oh, hello there Shikon dear, please don't mind me---THEN YOU SHOULD ATTEND THIS MARRIAGE INTERVIEW RIGHT AWAY! UNTIL WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO STAY BACHELOR?"
....In some way, it's fun for him to hear that apparently he always have super soft spot for his grandchildren... wonder why.
"Ara, Hayato, long time no see," Miharu greeted her little brother. "When was it the last time that you visited to Hokkaido?"
Tetsu's father acknowledging the appearance of the man and his niece with a nod, but apparently still felt too awkward to introduce himself. At this moment, Tetsu always thought that his father is unmovable like mountain, but probably he's just trying to block himself from Enma's rage... Finally, he looked up and...
"AAAAHHHH!" he pointed at Shikon, not believing what happened.
"Tecchan, dat's rude, ya kno? Don't point at people---" his mother began her scolding, but Tetsu doesn't seem to care.
"THAT ONEECHAN FROM BACK THEN!"
"Oh, what's that, boya? You met her already? This girl is Shikon. Ameno Shikon, your elder cousin," his grandpa explained. "I don't usually believe in fate, but this must be the so called fate, gahahaha! Well it's good that you two seem to be in good relation!"
"...W-whuh?" not believing his ear, he only can tilt his head in confusion.
Suddenly, another group appeared.
"Ara, Natsumi-neesan. Welcome," as usual, Miharu was the one to first speak. "Kenji-san once again escaped? Dear, don't run away because you're the only in-law here, alright?"
"What my stupid daughter said. Gin, you best stay here. Good to see you again, Natsumi. Oh, looks like Nagi is fine too, gahahaha! That's great, that's great. Is this Nami?"
...Tetsu was confused whether he should wondering if this naming sense is normal or not, but apparently these two are named after shinto deities. What should he think about it? Also, the one in wheelchair ever met him before? When? Tetsu tilted his head in puzzlement.
"Ya were two back then, Tecchan. Dis oniichan ova' 'ere is Izanagi."
"...Uh...huh?" he only could just say that.
"Oh boy, sorry about that, looks like Tecchan still not used to this! Well, then, shall we begin the introdution?"
Miharu bowed politely, along with her family. Tetsu noticed it three seconds too late and bowed too.
"Shishidou Miharu, with me is my husband Shishidou Gin, and this is our second son, Shishidou Tetsu. Unfortunately Rai-kun is still studying for test, so he couldn't come."
"Tests are important!" the grandfather said. "It's praiseworthy for him to study hard!"
I think Aniki is just making that as an excuse...
Suddenly, Tetsu's digivice made a sound, telling him that apparently there's at least one other Digivice available nearby. Of course the trill is enough to make the grandfather, mother and father to turn their head at him. With very beet red face, he took out his Digivice, trying so hard to turn it off. With the device in plain sight, it's so easy see it. However, of course it won't turn off, mainly because he have no idea how to!
"A-ahhh, s-sorry, m-ma toy is loud, ahahaha!"
"Ya OK? Just turn it off..."
"It won't turn off..."
"Oh boy... well, put it away, it's rude to the other!"
Luckily soon the trill stopped.

… Enma-sama… It wasn’t actually her grandfather name, was it? It couldn’t be that, right? It would have been quite rude that his own parents to call him such!
A small bout of laughter interrupted her thoughts, with the voice of Hayato making it through the thinking haze.
‘’ Natsumi! Hello dear! Sorry I couldn’t visit, was quite busy with going back and forth to take care of Shikon at Yoko’s. Poor Kenji, it is sooo sad he always have something coming up when meeting with father come up, huh? Yoko is fine I guess I’ll talk more in length of it later…’’
And why was he yelling and berating uncle Hayato? He had taken care of her so well and he was being berated for a silly thing as marriage? Really? When she was about to open her mouth to reply to that unjust claim, her uncle was faster than her with… Whining?
‘’ Father! I do not want to get married to this lady something you want to pair me up with! I’ve already have Shikon to take care of as my own, no need to add more to the plate! Don’t I do enough already? No? Like Yoko and Miharu and Natsumi, I want to marry because I like my partner, not because you tried to force my hand! It isn’t like I had time to date until now! Buggy Enma-sama, gimme a break! Today is about the family coming together and reintroducing it to each other, your complaints can wait another day! ‘’
… Huh, her uncle had his way with words that she didn’t know about. Surprising then that he was falling for it every time she batted her eyes at him with her pouting. Still clinging a bit to her uncle, she nodded in direction of her… grandfather to mean that she understood that he had spoken to her.
She was then whirled around as Hayato turned to continue speaking to his family… and hers, she guessed.
‘’ Miharu! Hi! Like I said to Natsumi, I was busy going back and forth for quite a while, I apologize of not being able to come visit you. But hey, we are all here, well almost all here, so we should enjoy the current moment! ‘’
She tensed up a bit when she felt his hand on her back, pushing her forward slowly. She didn’t fight it, but she still didn’t like the fact she had to. She jumped when she heard the yell, only to realize who did that.
Tetsu.
Sighing with a small smile, at least she had somebody else she knew here and apparently was family, even if she didn’t knew it before and that he seemed still under the shock. She nodded in his direction, to show she had seen him but wasn’t sure how to react with… all of this.
‘’ Everybody, this is Ameno Shikon, Yoko’s daughter and I am Ameno Hayato, the youngest sibling of… all your mothers, actually. ‘’
She had turned her head to see his expression and waiting for him to continue, after he had bowed, but when he pushed her slightly, making her take a step forward, she knew she wasn’t going to get it easily. Damnit.
‘’ Hello… Like uncle Hayato said, I’m Yoko’s daughter, Ameno Shikon… It is a pleasure to meet all of you! … I hope we get all along and … I apologize for my mother absence? ‘’
She then bowed, trying to hide her unsure expression. She really wasn’t sure of what to say in such a situation, so Shikon could only hope that she didn’t made a mistake while speaking.
She however raised her head suddenly when she heard the trill from a strange colored device… a toy? It kind of looked too technological for that, but for seeing it a big two seconds and not knowing what was trending for the kids… It was hard to say for sure.

So apparently the little kid Tetsu has already met her cousin? Izanami honestly was not sure what to think of that... Guess good on them, but it didn't help Izanami's case one bit. She was just really bad at these social events, even when it was just with Grandpa. When you added in two other families to the mix, things got complicated.
Izanagi on the other hand was a pretty social butterfly who even with his disability was not hindered in anyway when it came to this. "Yeah, I was only seven when I saw you Tets. You were a little baby, so I don't imagine you'd remember me. I also wasn't part bike back then. " Izanagi would say to the young boy, a bright smile on his face. I also wasn't part bike back then. "You like playing sports like soccer Tetsu?" He'd ask, still having a fondness for them despite no longer able to play them.
Meanwhile, the other adults were conversing with one another; good old grandpa Ameno calling out Hayato for still being single. Despite Mrs. Murukami being in a fairly high-paying professional job as a geologist, she certainly had an Impish side. "Enma-sama has a point. It is impressive that you've gone this long without a soulmate Hayato. I remember when they called you "Lady-killer Hayato" back in the day." She would tease her brother, her own husband being called out for being a wuss. "Yup, that's my baby Kenji. Sweet as honey, but oh so much of a dork."
Eventually, some order was snapped into place as everyone began introducing or re-greeting one another. Mrs. Murukami was saddened by the lack of Yoko at this reunion, but she was sure there would be time for that in the future. She was needless to say impressed by Shikon's politeness. "She's a busy woman Shikon-chan, your mother always was. I can certainly tell that you're her daughter." She would sweetly speak to her niece before placing a hand by her daughter's shoulder. "Nami, Nagi; why don't you two say hello?"
As typical, Izanagi was the first to say hello; waving at the teenaged girl. "Oy cousin! My name's Izanagi, and shortie here is Izanami." He'd greet Shikon, pointing at Izanami; which earned him a somewhat angry look from her.
"I'm not short you butt." Izanami would sternly say towards her brother's teasing of her; though it didn't take long for her to calm down. She took a deep breath and looked at Shikon, trying her best to at least seem friendly. "Err, sorry... My name is Izanami Murukami. I think we're the same age actually."
"Don't mind her, she just tries to act cooler than she is." Izanagi was quick to butt in, a mischievious smirk on her face as he wheeled toward his sister; wrapping an arm around her in a friendly manner. Izanami on the other hand was less than thrilled.
While clearly annoyed at her brother, Izanami did not have a chance to vent out her anger before suddenly not one; but two shrill sounds could be heard throughout the room. For a moment, Izanami didn't know what they were; but after seeing Tetsu pull out a very familiar-looking device (albeit in different colors) she instantly understood what was going on.
Unfortunately for her, this meant her own device was doing the same thing. Mrs. Natsumi was quick to notice it coming from her daughter, glancing towards her. "Izanami, is that your phone? Turn the ringer off." She would quietly, but sternly order the girl; prompting a slight bit of panic in Izanami.
With her face flush with red, Izanami had been caught off guard. "Umm, err...!" She stuck her hand in her sleeve, attempting to quiet the shrill device off. Thankfully the device she had went silent shortly after Tetsu's.
Both Izanami and Izanagi glanced at eachother awkwardly, fully well having the same thoughts. The device Izanami found along with that gem-like Digimon... Tetsu had the same type of device. There wasn't any doubt in their minds about that, though as to what that meant; they were not sure.
They didn't have much time before Mrs. Natsumi interrupted things, attempting to wave off the loud sounds as kid just being kids. "I'm sorry, you know how kids are. They always got to have their little devices and toys with them at all times."
"I'm not a little kid mom, I'm sixteen!" The black-haired teen was quick to interject, though she soon realized that attempting to argue with her mom was mostly a futile effort.
"While you live under my house, you are to me. Also watch that tongue of yours, else Enma-sama will have to give you the "Yomi-no-kuni Thousand Chop" to shush you." Mrs. Murukami would reiterate before jokingly threatening the girl.
Despite how comical it sounded, it was however enough to shut Izanami up.

"Oh?" Miharu was the first to approach her brother and pinches his cheek in such teasing manner like a good big sister should have been. "Where's da honorific, ya li'l tyke? Forgot who's the older one after travellin' the world, are ya?"
While Miharu just laughed at Natsumi's joke about the past, Grandpa Rokurou still huffing and crossing his arms, pointing at the man with his chin.
"Hmph! If you're so hellbent on finding your own partner, then do it and get one already stupid son! Do it seriously, especially now that you can go to various countries! Like I said to Yoko, I got no problem with you marrying with foreigner! When you're as old as me, who do you think would take care of me if not for your mother who passed away four years ago! Who was it that cooked for you three for years? Your mother! That's why a woman is important in your life, I told you that so many times!"
"Basically," Miharu interjected. "Father is just worried about your livelihood at old age, Hayato..." although she said this, somehow her eyes is looking at Shikon. Of course, Grandpa Rokurou being the usual old man just 'che'd at the remark tossed by his daughter.
Tetsu gathered back his thoughts... so, uh, he and Shikon is cousin, and apparently that cousin is from his mother's first sister... And then... there's the wheelchaired man... he was a bit perplexed that he could joke something about his disability so lightly.
"...U-uh, yeah... I... I don't really remember, sorry, N-Nagi-nii.. I... I don't play any sports..."
he's too busy with the farm anyway.
"Gin! What's this, I told you that your son need to have more hobby! What difference is this than a dull farmer!?"
Tetsu's father only can made a soft 'I humbly apologize" at the accusation.
"Ah, ya can't blame Gin-san like that, Father! Gin-san tried his best to make Tetsu interested in other thing, but the boy himself is just so fixed to the farm... Honestly, while that's commendable, it's also bad..."
"There's nothin' bad about helpin' da family!" Tetsu interjected, looking a bit upset.
"....Well, let's leave it at that. Tetsu, what you did is indeed great, but listen to your mother. Don't be too fixed on one thing. Try other things at it too," the grandpa took softer approach to the boy now.
"...Nothin' interest me," Tetsu replied curtly.
Grandpa Rokurou only could sigh in defeat at that.
"He's honestly so much like you, father dearest."
'Shut it."
However, what Miharu did next was a bit odd. She touched Shikon's cheek after her introduction ended and smiled. "...My... what a beautiful face... but I wonder if it's hard to keep that up everytime? You can relax over here you know? We're all families here."
It's no secret that her eyes also wandered a bit to Izanami, smiling in such mysterious way. Even Grandpa Rokurou doesn't get her at times. However, all that broken when Natsumi suggested that the old man would use such a scary sounding chop.
"...Wait, wait, Natsumi! I never would do that to my grandchildren! Nagi, Nami, Tetsu, Shikon, It's all lies and slander! Lies and slander!"
Once again laugh rose from Miharu who at this point sat back to her original position. Even Tetsu snorted at that.
"Well, then, shall we pray a bit? It's been a while, I'm sure she would really love it to meet you all," Grandpa Rokurou suggested.

He smiled and laughed a bit when Miharu had come teasing him, but his mood changed with the subject coming up, Hayato sighed, having hoping to avoid that, to no avail.
‘’There is a difference between called such a ridiculous title and actually do anything about it. It is not my responsibility for them misunderstanding me being single to an open invitation of a man hunt… I wouldn’t be surprised if Enma-sama paid half of them to run after me in an attempt to get me matched up.’’
Hayato didn’t say there was more as to why he didn’t really look for more, but he nodded his head in sign of understanding when explained why the worries, that, he could get.
‘’Hello, I am Shikon, like uncle Hayato and I said earlier; it is nice to meet family finally. Er, yes, I believe we are… the same age, I think I may be a tiny bit older but it doesn’t matter that much, right?’’
She tilted her head at hearing a second tone, very much similar than the one played just before, coming out of Izanami shelve. She narrowed her eyes a bit before smiling again. Shikon knew something was up, but didn’t say anything about it. At worst, it wouldn’t come to light at all and she would have to search about it, but with how it reacted, she figured the answer would probably show itself.
Insight was 20/20.
Her thoughts were deviated when Miharu got closer to her, to almost never come back with a soft touch on her cheek. Her words only made Shikon smile sadly a bit, shaking her head softly before whispering:
‘’It is exactly why I have such a beautiful face: because we are all family.’’
Taking back her mask smiling as if nothing happened, Hayato had a small smile having seen what happened. There was maybe hope for the future. Coming closer to ruffle her hair, Shikon let out a squawk, only to let her uncle laugh. How rude! Pouting, she turned around and made puppy eyes at the grandfather. If he was like uncle Hayato on that point, it would be a killer and give her help against the mean uncle!
She had a hard time keeping her expression however, when her grandfather reacted such a way to some words. He was really funny at that point.
Taking a deep breath and returning to a more normal expression, waited for the cue before she closed her eyes in order to focusing on the praying. Focusing on good feelings to send in the direction she hoped was her grandmother, the one she had never met.
What she didn’t see, with her eyes closed, was that a glow started to form in between her hands, one that seemed a bit too… digital-ish to be normal event then.

"That's cool. I kinda figured. My bro kinda always makes fun of me though cause I am short." Izanami would comment to Shikon, pretty much settled with that she was one of the shortest people in the room. Izanagi didn't count as he as actually pretty tall if it weren't for him being crippled, and Tetsu was still a lil' kid. She really couldn't get mad right now.
Thankfully the mood in the air was swiftly made less tense with their mother's recent teasing of their grandfather. Izanami had to try and hold her breath to keep herself from laughing, it just being really funny seeing this stern and almost-terrifying man clench up. Ameno-sama really just was a big softie at heart, at least with the kids.
"Oy, no need to worry Ameno-sama; we know you wouldn't do anything like that. Maybe with mom or dad..." Izanagi was quick to say his elder, he laughing some. It was clear that he meant well. Despite being a bit of a jokester, he was rather mature when he needed to be.
"Izanagi, you remind me of your grandfather. Same die-hard attitude. You've grown to be a such a nice young man." Mrs. Murukami would praise her son, pleased by how nice and mature he was acting. Perhaps it was just nostalgia from memories of growing up with her siblings and her parents, but the kids reminded her of alot of the older folks when they were younger. "Indeed... Let's all gather round and pray. I brought a bit of homemade pasta that Kenji made, we can all have a bite to eat afterwards."
Izanami huddled up by her own family as everyone soon began to start up a prayer. Admittingly the girl was agnostic as hell, but gramps was a man from an older time who valued some things a bit more than modern folks of today. She just would try to close her eyes, and silently pray... or at least look like she was. Unfortunately, this did lead to her being a bit unobservant of her surroundings briefly.

"Hooold it hold it! Hayato, you're putting yourself too high on a pedestal like this. I know that you're my only son and the only one who can have Ameno surname, but you sure are acting high and mighty! As much as I pressed you inf or a marriage there's no way I'm sending banshee after my son! What do you think I am, some sort of Izanami genderbent or some---"
...yeah, the myth said that Izanami sent hell hags after her husband Izanagi, but considering that there's two of his grandchildren with that name here...
"W-wait, I don't mean you two alright!? Seriously, Natsumi! Who named their child after Gods!? ---I guess Indian does, but seriously..."
Looks like Grandpa Rokurou also have problem with "foot on mouth" moment afterall.
To Shikon's answer, Miharu just shows an equally melancholic look.
"Is that so? Very well. I'm sure if you could feel better about yourself, you'll looks even more beautiful, though."
Though, the ruffling done by Hayato and the look by Shikon is enough to trigger something from the grandfather.
"HAYATO! YOU RUINED SUCH A NICE HAIR OF A LADY, WHAT DID I SAID ABOUT ETIQUETTE!? YOU WANT TO BE SPANKED, YOU TWERP!? APOLOGIZE TO HER THIS INSTANT!"
Of course hearing that, laughter broke from Miharu. "Wow, here comes the Enma mode! It's been long since then!"
"Hmph, it's clear that I love my grandchildren dearly! And you better be right that Nagi grows into a great young man! Otherwise this grandpa will be saddened!"
"Nagi," Miharu interjected, "please don't grow into this foul tempered old man however,"
Of course this made the grandpa "humph"'d and sulked at the jab.
Luckily all of that quieted down when it's time for prayers. Looks like no one noticed about what happened to Shikon getting her Digivice, at least not until Tetsu's blares again with its trilling sound, alerting him about it.
"Tetsu!" his mother scolded sharply.
"I-I'm sorry, I have no..." that's when his eyes affixed to Shikon's digivice.
