A strange egg and a girl on adventure (part 2) [OPEN]

On foot Cat had been carrying Nyao all the way from Greater Shibuya to make some money. This place was one of the most crowded places Shibuya and Cat knew it. As she walked around, Nyao was keeping a storic smile getting into the role of Cat's rag-doll. Cat stopped up at a crossroad, where she could watch the news on a giant television for a moment. It was cold but at least it didn't rain, this was perfect to gain sympathy around people.
Cat sat under the television so she could hear the news while 'working'. She took out her metal plate and placed it in front of her as she went down on her knees. Cat placed Nyao next to her.
"Nyao, I don't know how you do it but somehow you can read my feelings. If you see someone with a good heart, let me know. But please be subtle."
Nyao nodded and Cat folded her hands. There Nyao waited until she saw a pair with a daughter not older than 6. The father looked sadly on Cat which Nyao noticed. Nyao tapped Cat on her shoulder which caused Cat to look at his direction. Cat took on her most depressing facial expression as if she just lost everything.
"Please sir... I'm all alone" Cat feinted a tear. In addition to wanting to be good example to his child, the man took pity on Cat and gave her a coin of 100 yen on her plate.
Cat answered by putting on her fake friendly smile to express gratitude.
"You're a good sir, I love you!" Cat hugged Nyao to seal the deal as the family walked away to who knows where.
"Not bad, keep this up and we could maybe afford a steak tonight"
Cat set Nyao down and prepared for the next act.

Darian had been back in Japan not much longer than two days, and yet he had already found himself at the Scramble Crossing, one of the busiest places in Japan. To top it off, Darian had never been a fan of massive crowds, and so having to deal with the massive amount of people crossing always put him on edge. It wasn't like this back where he was from. To even get a remote idea of a large crowd he had to at least go to Toronto.
Gabe on the other hand didn't mind the crowds. Then again, as a Digimon disguised in a holosuit, he still retained many of his features, including his agility. So it was never a problem for him to weave between people in crowds, and looking relaxed while doing it.
Darian wasn't expecting today's outing to last too long. Their fridge was nearing empty, so it was time to do some restocking. As they strolled along, Darian took the time to listen to the newscaster's words. It pleased him to hear nothing of any note. No strange explosions, monster sightings, just pleasantries like American Election News and pets being found. It was relaxing.
"Nice to see Japan has finally calmed down." Darian mused to his partner, who had his hands folded behind his head as he nimbly dodged another person.
"You mean buildings have taken a break from exploding due to Digimon attacks lately? Goodness, it's like we're not even needed anymore." Gabe responded with a laugh.
As the two reached a spot in front of one of the many giant televisions in the area, Darian couldn't help but notice what looked like a little girl who was speaking to a man and his family. Darian barely noticed the peddling, it was the item that the girl had in her arms that piqued his curiosity.
"Hey Gabe, hold up.." he said, grabbing the back of Gabe's collar and pointing over towards the girl, "Ain't that a Nyaromon?"
Hearing the sound of the Digimon's name attracted Gabe's attention. As a Tamer and Digimon duo that had been together for what was now seven years, they weren't at all surprised to see Digimon out and about. Though it was always worth checking out. Every beginning tamer can use a friend, especially when so young and malleable.
"Yeah that definitely looks like a Nyaromon. Scent is there too." Gabe stated, sniffing through the holosuit.
Darian motioned for Gabe to follow him before heading over to the girl who had just finished up her conversation with the previous family. Admittedly, Darian was kind of concerned that a little girl who looked no older than fifteen was out and about on Shibuya's busiest street alone. As he closed in, Darian made sure she was aware of his presence, so as to not possibly scare her.
"Hey there little girl." Darian said, keeping a slight watch over the Nyaromon to see if it would give up the act.
Gabe followed in behind Darian, playing up his goofy human teenager disguise to a t.
"Y'know, it's generally warmer inside! What are you doing out here?!" he questioned casually.
Looks like their quick grocery day might just take a little longer than expected.

Timothy had been traveling around Shibuya, making his usual explorations with Bibi and Faluo sitting in his backpack, squished together. He was kinda on his way to the train station, but really, he was just trying to take as much time as possible. He went about, making his way down the street when he saw a yellow ball with a tail, a Nyaromon, and next to it, a girl. They trio all had to make a decision, go and say hi, drop a coin and leave, or ignore it altogether. They decided to go and say hi without much thought. Timothy went over to the girl and now this other man, casually saying, "Hello, person. How're you doing?"

As Cat was sitting there on the ground, random strangers disturbed by seeing a teenage girl on street occasionally dropped a coin or 2. This was one of the crowdest places of Shibuya, people meant money and many people meant many money. By the time Darian took notice of them, her 100 yen was almost tripled.
Nyao, being Cat-like twitched her ears and heard Gabe and Darian's entire conversation.
"Yeah that definitely looks like a Nyaromon. Scent is there too."
"I see, those two are tamers and that dark haired person smells like a Digimon too. Must be some kind of disguise. They seem nice so far, but I better keep my eyes open" Nyao thought to herself
As they came closer to Cat, Nyao made a tiny purr signaling that they were good people. Even if they do catch up with the act, it won't matter when they already know she's a Digimon. If anything, it would speed up the awkward introduction ritual.
Cat noticed the signal, but didn't understand why Nyao suddenly was less subtle. Still, she needs to make money so might as well roll with it.
"Hey there little girl."
Cat pretended that she hadn't already spotted them, she put on her big friendly (and fake) smile and bowed on her knees. "Good evening to you good sir".
(he looks concerned, better play up to him) Cat thought to herself.
"G"Y'know, it's generally warmer inside! What are you doing out here?!"
(That's my que! Katsura, you got this) Cat thought.
Cat looked away for a moment acting as if what Gabe said was inappropriate, even though she knew it was a normal question. She also took off her fake smile reverting back to her default expression. She knew that guilty people pay more than bystanders and besides, this was a great opening for a "sales speech".
"Sure it would be nice to know how it feels being in a warm nice home." Cat hugged Nyao, seemly for comfort but also as a part of her acting.
Cat turned and noticed a boy was approaching her as well. Nevertheless, Cat had a role to play so she acted as if she was still affected by Gabe's question by not putting up her fake smile.
"Hello, person. How're you doing?"
"Good evening to you sir. " Cat bowed politely, "I'm doing okay, I guess. Considering the circumstances"

Darian was impressed by the way this girl was operating. It looked like the collection of yen that she started with was already starting to get nominally bigger. If he had given her a few more minutes she would actually have had quite a bit of money on her hands. He wasn't too impressed with the largely fake smile this girl used. People had tried to use deception on him before, and while this girl was actually kinda good at it, he wasn't gonna fall for the easy buy in.
Keeping the guise up that he was just an every day passerby with his friend, he spoke, "Do you have no where to go? Not even a shelter? Kinda a crappy day to be stuck outside."
Gabe on the other hand, also noticed the second boy approaching them. Young like the girl in front of him, backpack on, probably coming home from school. His nostrils flared slightly as he picked up another collection of scents. He flicked his eyes to the boy's backpack, brushing his electric blue hair out of his face before crossing his arms as a smirk grew on his face.
"They really do just toss Digivices around to kids these days huh?" Gabe whispered to himself, watching the scene closely. These were just kids, and were most likely harmless. The presence of Digimon was also weaker than what he had been used to. He wasn't worried, it was just interesting that they had already ran into a set of tamers on the street after being gone for so long.
Darian turned to look at the new kid. It was pleasing to see that kids in Japan were still outgoing enough to just walk up to people and say hello. Responding to his question, Darian spoke, "Hey there, another kid out in the cold, weird night for a walk guys."

Timothy nodded to the girl, "Well, you seem to be making the most of what you can then." He then looked at Darian, casually saying, "I'm just on my way to the train station, just taking my precious time." Bibi was occasionally smiling and from her spot in the bag, she was sticking out next to Faluo and elbowed her once or twice to get her to relax. Timothy shoik his backpack a little to get them to relax back there. He then said, "Anyways, how do you get by just asking for money?" He honestly had no idea she had faked the smile, nor that Darian knew about Digimon, he was just clueless right now.

It might surprise Timothy (but apparently not Damian) just how easy it is for Cat to make a reasonable living. Naturally, admitting so would break character. Cat noticed that Damian hadn't paid her anything yet, this could mean one of two things: Either he wasn't convinced or that she smiled at the wrong moment. Since everyone else still seem to show an interest, Cat could rule out that her acting was the problem. Still, all Cat needed was to persuade one of them and both Timothy and Gabe seemed interested. (He knows, still as long as most people pay he'll come around) Cat thought. "Do you have no where to go? Not even a shelter? Kinda a crappy day to be stuck outside." Cat looked down on her feet, once again Cat knew the question was appropriate but it was also important to further install a guilt to overcome Damian. "I know, I'm so cold, everything is terrible." Just because Damian knows her smile is fake, Cat can still turn it around by making this sad character being what the smile hid. She looked up at Timothy who just spoke to her: "Anyways, how do you get by just asking for money?" "Sigh, well it isn't easy. I barely get enough to pay for food". Cat used her fake smile on Timothy since she was certain, he hadn't figured her out yet. This was to simulate that she just lightened up. At the first occasion to catch Gabe off guard, Cat subtly moved her plate so it touched his hand. "Fortunately, I meet so many good people." Cat acted intentionally as if money was already promised. Now Damian has to pick between trying to call Cat out risking his reputation by making a scene with a "poor homeless girl trying to be cheerful" or paying her money. No matter which of these choices Damien pick, Cat is confident that she has the sympathy of bystanders: A crying homeless girl getting bullied is a scenario that makes lots of money. Meanwhile Nyao was slowly picking up on Cat's scheme, additionally she knows that there's no point playing a ragdoll to Damian. Rather she sent him a stern look to tell him that " yes, she does need the money and yes I know who you are."
List of mind games utilized by Cat in this post: - Guilt trip: Attempts to make Gabe feel that he needs to make it up to Cat for asking hurtful questions.
- Role shift: Cat knows that Damian probably figured out her fake smile so she's selling her smile as a shield for her depressed persona in case he calls her out.
- Attachment installation: When a seller makes you touch the product, it creates an attachment to the product. In this case, the plate. The best psychological counter is not to touch.
- Acting like she already got a yes: Attempts to trick Gabe into thinking they already owe her money.
- Technical truths: Everything she said was true thus Damian can't call her out on lying.
- Peer pressure: She's making it seem like refusing her demands will make you a heartless bully in front of hundreds of bystanders. (she's probably right given her appearance)

Gabe was beginning to get the idea that this girl was thinking that he was becoming attached to her plight. Sure, this sucked, nobody should be outside in a time like this, but he didn't have any human money, and he was only doing this while Darian was able to get his information from this girl. He wasn't expecting the plate to suddenly touch his hand, but he quickly retracted his hand in order to ensure she couldn't touch him again.
Darian on the other hand took note of the fact that the new kid was heading to the Train Station. From what he remembered before he left, the Train Station was one of the few places in Japan that you were able to get to the Digital World from. Could that be where he was going? To be quite honest, the only time he's ever heard of anybody going to the Train Station it has been to get to the Digiworld.
Darian was beginning to get the idea that with all of Cat's actions, she was trying to make him seem like the opposition here. As if him not giving her money made him criminal. She was even trying to use Gabe against him. To be honest, it made him grin a little bit. The girl was smart. She could probably make enough during busy times to feed her whatever warm meal she liked. But, he wasn't going to be swindled by this girl today. Especially with the fact that the Nyaromon had just shot him a pretty nasty look as well.
Crouching down to reach eye level with her, he spoke,
"Listen, I'll buy you a hot meal. But stop trying to scam me, or my friend. A little girl just doesn't belong on the streets alright." Darian stated, before shooting the Nyaromon a look that didn't match his usual cheerful disposition, "And you, stay motionless in busy places. Unless you want to end up on TV as a newly discovered animal in Japan." he scolded, making it very clear that he knew about Digimon and the Nyaromon's presence.
Gabe, realizing that the secrecy jig was up, also lightly tapped Timothy on the shoulder before speaking,
"Hey, the things in your backpack. Anybody watching close enough can see they're moving. You're either gonna get tackled by some crazy animal activist, or your young Digimon are gonna get out. Probably wouldn't be the best in the middle of the Scramble Crossing." Gabe stated concernedly.

Timothy had listened to everything going on and mumbled, "Must be hard out here..." Thought as it all went on, it seemed like she was trying too hard to get the money and he was a bit confused, "How about we just get you a meal inside of some place..." He then turned to Gabe in surprise. He hadn't expected being tapped in the shoulder, though he was in a busy street. He then nodded, "Yeah... I'm trying to get them to calm down a little, they're generally a lot better than this... Don't know what's making them act up." He then turned to Darien, "How about we both pitch in and get some place where we can have out own room, so certain friends and join in easily." He then motioned to the Nyaromon and his backpack to make the point.

Cat was satisfied, sure she didn't get any money but a free meal was a great way to bond with people for long term. Even if they all left her alone after the dinner, the expenses of a meal was so high that it could cancel out any hypothetical salary, she could make on the street. Besides, Cat could sense that Darian was on his limit, any further tricks would probably end up with all leaving and the whole day wasted. Needless to say, Cat felt she 'won'.
Cat stood up and bowed before the group polity in gratitude.
"I would like that, thank you. My name is Ise Katsura" Cat collected her money and her plate. Cat was about to pick up Nyao when Darian spoke to Nyao.
"And you, stay motionless in busy places. Unless you want to end up on TV as a newly discovered animal in Japan."
Nyao returned to her role as a ragdoll, not wanting to be revealed.
Cat looked confused at Darian for a minute; (It's one thing that this guy knows she's alive, she wasn't as subtle as I expected her to, but why is he not surprised? It's almost like...). Then it hit Cat and she blurted out albeit in modest tone, apparently this is an even bigger deal than she first anticipated when she told Nyao to be her toy. "Wait, you guys know what she is, do you have a partner too?" Cat picked up Nyao while waiting for them to answer.

Both Darian and Gabe alike were thankful that this whole acting clueless jig was up. Darian had grown tired of acting like he was a clueless teenager, and now that everyone was clear that he knew things about the situation, he could continue with conversation without cringing internally. Though, he didn't actually have a problem with buying the girl food, especially if she needed it. It was a cold day.
"No problem. Nobody should be hungry on cold days. The name's Darian Soten." he answered, introducing himself properly.
Gabe on the other hand chuckled a little as Timothy mentioned how his Digimon were more active and restless than they usually were. That could be explained by a few things, but Gabe wasn't too worried. After all, if one of those things did happen to be a "Digital Disturbance", he and Darian were here and could make short work of it.
"They could just be restless cause of the amount of Digimon nearby. I mean right here there's at least two more. Plus tamers are everywhere now." he explained.
Darian smirked slightly as he actually watched Cat figure out that Darian knew more than he was letting on. He had been waiting for the question of whether he had a partner already. He pointed a thumb at Gabe before patting his back rough enough to shock Gabe who was distracted with Timothy.
"The partner would be this guy! To be honest, we sniffed both of you guys out a little bit ago."
The conversation was interrupted by Timothy mentioning that they should get a place with private rooms in order to let the Digimon roam around a little bit. Pretty good idea, kids at least were coming up with smarter ideas than before.
"Yeah, somewhere private to eat is probably a good idea. You guys have any preference?"

Timothy laughed a little as he kneeled down and opened the top of his bag, revealing Bibi and Faluo, who both about screamed at the girl before he closed it again, shushing them. He quickly whispered to them, "Guys, we aren't in public yet, quiet it down a little!" The shaking in the bag quickly stopped as they both got into a surprisingly calm position. He then grinned a little as he looked back at the girl, "I'm Timothy, by the way. What's your name?" He then turned to Darian, nodding, "I guessed that once your friend mentioned it. Though I don't have any preference, maybe a noodle place? I shouldn't decide, the one who doesn't get much should."

Cat studied Gabe, her certainly didn't look like a Digimon. Cat pulled out her Digi-Device, indeed when Cat pressed a button the display read:
"Gabumon, Reptile Digimon.
Extremely timid and shy, its fur consists of data collected by Garurumon.
It can shoot a blue stream of energy from its mouth."
Strangely, the illustration looked nothing like Gabe. If Cat didn't just hear that he's a Digimon, she'd assume it was broken. Still, the illustration confused her greatly.
"I guessed that once your friend mentioned it. Though I don't have any preference, maybe a noodle place? I shouldn't decide, the one who doesn't get much should."
This was a tricky question, Cat couldn't ask for too much since Darian was already frustrated enough as it is. Cat turned to Timothy, "Noodles is fine, do you know a place?"

(Very sorry about my absence. Getting a hold of my full time work life has been a difficulty.)
Darian had found this little introduction amusing. Especially Cat's facial reaction as he watched her analyze her Digivice that had just scanned Gabe. Gabe's holosuit had become sort of a trademark for him, the shocking blue hair, fair skin, and lithe frame making him look like any old teenager. But really, those who knew him could pick him out from a crowd, and those who didn't know him were usually kept blinded to his real form.
"He's using something called a Holo-Suit. It allows him to hide his form and move around in the human world without raising any questions." Darian answered without being asked.
Gabe on the other hand was listening to the food talks adamantly, enjoying the idea of noodles entering his stomach in the near future. Turning to Darian and the others, with a large grin on his face he spoke,
"Noodles sound perfect! Darian lead the way!"
Darian, not really surprised that Gabe was enforcing him to take charge, pointed across the way all the way to the other side of the crossing.
"There's a noodle joint on the other side of the Shibuya crossing right here. It has a pretty good selection. And private rooms. Could prove useful if you're all down."

Timothy bounced a little at Bibi's excitement from within his bag, followed by the punch from Faluo towards Bibi. He let out a laugh and said, "I think these two back here agree... Now let's get over there before these they get too excited..." He shook his bag a little to calm them down and said, "If we're all ready to go, then let's get going."
