"I have absolutely no idea," Gomamon admitted. "They just kinda show up and do whatever's convenient at the time."
Oboro was too distracted by his Digivice to notice Gomamon and Owen's interaction. While he was fiddling with the buttons on the strange device, a small map came up on the screen with a blinking red light. Curious, he got up and started walking around. Funnily enough, the closer he got to the water, the closer to the center of the screen the red dot got. "Umm...Gomamon, what's this?" he asked.
Gomamon looked at the Digivice with a puzzled expression. "I think it's just your Digivice, man."
Oboro sighed and looked over at Owen. "Any help?" he grunted.

"Hmm. Well, hopefully you can practice using that attack and soon you'll be able to master it" Owen said, patting Gomamon encouragingly. "Who knows? You might be able to control the fish to do all sorts of things?" he chuckled.
His attention was drawn toward Oboro, who seemed to be puzzled by his digivice. Owen knew little about digivices, but would try his best! Gomamon was confused by the question, so Oboro turned to Owen and asked him.
"Hmm... it looks like a radar function to me" Owen said, some traces of data in his memory remembering something like that. "And... it seems to be indicating something nearby, toward the stream" he said, pointing toward the river.
He then had an idea. "If it's in the water, maybe Gomamon can find it?" the Gaomon suggested. He'd do it himself, but, Gomamon was an aquatic digimon and was better suited to this sort of thing.

"Meh," Oboro sighed. "Not interested."
Gomamon was a little shocked. "What do you mean you're not interested? This could be something really cool!"
"It probably isn't worth it," Oboro said plainly. Of course he wasn't about to tell Gomamon or Owen what was really going on. They could probably figure it out for themselves.
"B-but-" Gomamon stammered.
"I said no!"
Oboro wasn't typically one to shout, but this matter seemed extremely serious to him. The more he stared at the river, the more the water freaked him out. It reminded him of that awful day years ago.

Owen by now caught on that something wasn't quite right with Oboro's behaviour around water. The Gaomon had picked it up before, mainly with dragon and fire elemental digimon. He was quite possibly aquaphobic. Of course, Owen didn't think any less of him for it. There could be any various reason for this. Events could have happened, things could have gone wrong. All Owen could suggest was to move away from the water.
"Okay then" he said. "How about we just... head up back over the hills and catch a Trailmon back to civilization, eh?" he suggested.
That would probably be the right thing to do here. After all, Gomamon had just evolved. Perhaps Oboro would like some time to settle in civilization to come to terms with this?
"I could accompany you of course" Owen offered. "While we're on the Trailmon, I could tell you all I know about what's happening with the world". It wasn't much, but, he hadn't discerned that Oboro and Gomamon knew much about their surroundings. Maybe it would be an opportunity to get them up to speed?

Oboro seemed to be frozen in place, staring at the river, so Gomamon spoke on his behalf. "I think that would be great, man," he said calmly. "Let's just get going." He softly nudged Oboro, trying to get him to follow along. After a few moments, the boy snapped out of his funk and walked slowly away from the water. He didn't say a word to either of them as they walked to the train station.
Gomamon, meanwhile, was trying to process what had just happened. Was Oboro really afraid of water? What rotten luck for him to have been stuck with an Aquatic Digimon for a partner. This already wasn't starting off well for him.

Owen was really lost for words as Oboro seemed to be so simply frightened of such a non-threatening little stream. Maybe there was a way to help him out? After all, swimming is a very important skill to have, and water was simply so ubiquitous in the world (well, except for the Western Area) that it was something one shouldn't be scared of.
Then, yet, he had heard of his friends Luke and Bellamy, who had been afraid of water since both of them nearly drowned in a frozen lake in the North since neither of them knew how to swim, especially not in freezing temperatures. It had taken their partner to get them over that particular fear.
But Owen didn't say anything about it. It would be something that Oboro would have to face as his own decision. But Owen was of course willing to help if he wanted.
The Gaomon led them to a small railway platform on the hills. There wasn't much there, just a Trailmon track, a wooden platform, and a weathered signpost with a faded timetable. He hoped trains still ran here. He looked at the timetable.
"Hmm. Won't be long, if this is right" Owen said to the other two.

Oboro stayed somewhat quiet as the three of them approached the railway platform. Gomamon was similarly silent. The two of them had a bit of adjusting to do with each other if they were going to learn how they would even work as a team. If Oboro was so uncomfortable with water, Gomamon would have an awful time trying to travel or fight.
Gomamon was also worried that the two of them had mismatched somehow. Had he just Digivolved incorrectly? It made him feel useless. The two were not their usual selves. They were both lost in thought, which seemed impossible for the two.

Before long, the familiar sound of metal wheels on metal track approached. Owen's sensitive ears twitched as he heard it first. Aha, it seemed that this railroad was still active. As expected, the Trailmon was a small one. A Kettle mode to be precise. And he seemed to be hauling two carriages, both of them almost empty, other that carrying a few Rookie levels that Owen didn't know.
"Here we go" Owen said, standing up, giving a wave out to the Trailmon. He stopped at the platform, allowing them to step into the carriage. Owen then plopped down on a seat, inviting Oboro and Gomamon to sit opposite.
"While we're here, I can tell you what I know so far about the digital world" the Gaomon said.
And so the Trailmon carried them off from this place on to another adventure. Where it would go? Well, Owen didn't mind where. He was sure that he could make the most of it.
