A locomotive chugged its away through the desert sands. There were no tracks, but Trailmon didn't particularly need them. Tracks were just convenient tools for ensuring that there would be a smooth ride with no obstacles. That was something this particular Trailmon's clientelle never cared about. Especially his current passenger, the self-styled Legendary Treasure Hunter named Takara Kureha. Takara cared about getting places in the most interesting way possible, not necessarily the fastest or most comfortable.
"Say, Takara-kun. Have you heard the latest? Apparently an undersea temple was discovered in the Macro Ocean. Sounds like your kinda thing, no?" Trailmon was fond of chatting up his passengers, and this one in particular. "Seriously? I was just in the area the other week, hunting down pirate treasure! Snagged this cool sword while I was at it, too!" Takara Kureha lifts his right arm to reveal the object which is quite firmly attached to his forearm.
Is that a BladeKuwagamon Husk? A rare item, that is. After all, it requires the Digimon to die in a way that the shell is left behind when the rest returns to the Village of Beginnings. After that, it can take centuries for the husk to mature to the point where it can attach to another being in such a way. Quite the lucky find, my young friend." Trailmon is obviously taken aback by Takara's having obtained such a rare item. The train may like the boy, but having never seen him in action, he can only take his word for it. And given Takara's tendency to exaggerate, it is no surprise the Train is uncertain how many of Takara's stories have actually happened.
"Luck has nothing to do with it! The mark of a skilled treasure hunter is being able to find the most valuable treasure in a pile, after all! I knew this was a rare item the moment I laid eyes on it! And what's more, check this out!" Takara wasted no time in whipping out his Xros Loader. "Xros on!" A flash of light envelloped him, his Digivice, and his partner Hagurumon. When it cleared, Takara was standing equipped with the drill and shield combo he happily referred to as Combatant Kuwagamon.
"Oho, I see. I had not heard of such things being able to be used in a Xros. That said... I had never seen the shell of a BladeKuwagamon before now. I suppose that such a thing should be of no surprise. Oh, just wait until I run into Flamon in Rustport again! He does love hearing tell of rare artifacts. Say, if you ever grow tired of that blade, try taking it to him- I'm sure he'll give you a good deal for it." Trailmon had a habit of gossiping that often led to deals among his various passengers. It was a habit that all who worked with him were well aware of, and usually worked out in everyone's favor.
The Trailmon was passing through the Kilobyte Oasis on its way to a fairly recently discovered dungeon deep in the desert. "Care to take a stop here, build up your supplies for the dungeon?" Trailmon asked of Takara. Takara thought for a second, counted some things off on his fingers, then looked out the window. "Ah, couldn't hurt. Why not."
Trailmon sat around rather bored as Takara dashed about the Oasis. It seemed he was gathering various local specialties. Having seen what Takara does with such things, Hagurumon felt bad for the vendors he was buying them from. They were destined to be mashed together into some sort of unidentifiable paste in any color of the rainbow. Hagurumon had, in fact, been utilized in the process of making the paste in the past. He would much rather not be pressed into it again. Literally.
Having finished his shopping, and dragging along what seemed to be an unsuspecting recruit for aiding Takara on the expedition, Takara returned to Trailmon. Hagurumon vaguely pitied him, but he was mostly just glad to have another Digimon to share the load of being Takara's partner along. It was a simple case of schadenfreude that led to Hagurumon not warning the poor soul of what he was about to encounter. But, before boarding, Takara took the time to talk with Trailmon. "Say, Trailmon. Whaddya think about joining up with my team officially?" The respect Takara had for the train was reflected in that he asked, rather than told the train to join him.
Trailmon thought about it for a bit, then did a sign that approximated to a shrug. "Why not. Seems like fun, though I will miss my old clients. Mayhaps we can pick them up for a visit, sometime." Takara was fine with this, and as such, Trailmon became an official member of Team Takara.
