Coolmon shuffled around so that she was actually looking at Birdie and Unica. "...Biyomon don't really turn into dogs." She noted. "They usually turn into bigger birds. Birds that can carry you just like Kyo did." Coolmon explained.
They usually went from Biyomon to Birdramon, right? That...may not be the case here. But it was a nice assumption. "But she'll only turn into a bigger bird if you...if you love her like a partner. If you care for her. And if she cares for you, too. I'm really just going off of what others have told me in the past."
Well, it seriously -looked- like they were meant for each other. Who knew if it was to be or not?
It wasn't her.
But.
Coolmon leveled a stare at Birdie. A very flat and honest one. "...You. Listen to me." She began. "...Protect her. Nurture her. Help her get home. Do that, and we're cool. If you ever hurt her...I will know. And though I might not be much for a fight, I will find you and kick you between the legs."
...Brutal.

Swallowing that pill had been... unusually easy, in all honesty. As Yuu and Kyo exchanged glances and Coolmon took care of most explanations again, they just decided to... return to what they were doing. Partner or not, they figured it was for the best of Unica returned home, and then decided on her own if she wanted to come back or not.
"You'll be able to make Birdy bigger and stronger in no time. Just as long as you become friends and work together to that goal." The Astamon finally quipped. "But for now, we still had a train ride pending."
Her gaze went back to the Piyomon, a somewhat serious expression painted on her face. "We're getting her back to the Human World. Won't force you to tag along if you don't wanna, but if you do... do you know how to devolve? Humans there aren't used to our kind, so you gotta keep a low profile there."
They were liking this plan less and less by the second, but... it was the correct thing to do, they guessed? Just in case, they'd make sure to keep close tabs both on the Piyomon from now on. Or at least they would try to.

Post by Unica & Birdie on Nov 26, 2017 19:44:12 GMT
When Coolmon explained that Biyomon - those who were like Birdie - didn't tend to turn into dogs but, rather, even larger birds, ones so large that they could carry Unica across long distances the same way Kyo had when she turned into her large dog form, Unica once again extended her digivice outward and exclaimed a sudden, "Turn into a big birdie!" Nothing happened and the annoyed look on Birdie's face steadily grew more intense. She wasn't peeved at the child's attempt to evolve her, since that's exactly what she wanted as well, but she was irritated with the fact that it wasn't working.
As though noting Unica's disappointment once again and Birdie's frustration, Coolmon went on to explain that the evolution would only work if they loved one another and cared for each other. Birdie couldn't help but roll her blue eyes in response to the mushy-gushy nonsense that the rabbit was rambling on about. The pink bunny clarified by saying that she wasn't positive that this was how it worked, it was simply what she had learned from hearsay. Kyo chimed then, verifying Coolmon's suspicions and mentioning that they would have to learn how to work together.
"Yeah, okay, okay," Birdie said, waving a wing in the air dismissively. With that, the bird stepped closer to her partner and grabbed hold of the child's free hand. Unica started a little at the physical contact but quickly turned her attention back to the strange device, still trying to wrap her young mind around the idea that a phone-like machine could make animals turn into other animals.
Maybe Coolmon was threatened by Birdie or maybe she was just angry that fate had brought such an innocent child and a bitter bird together, but, regardless of the reason, her tone shifted from being informative and reserved to abrasive and confrontational - ah, yes, that was the pesky Cutemon who Birdie had come to know. It became glaringly obvious in that moment that Coolmon felt something for the child. Not only did she throw the first punch in order to save Unica from a presumed threat, but she also withdrew from the fight and remained good mannered when the young human scolded her for acting out. Coolmon respected Unica's opinion and felt protective over her, which was only reaffirmed when she told Birdie to look after the girl or they would end up fighting again. Although Birdie wasn't intimated by the fluffy rabbit's threats, she did respond in kind. "I'll be her guardian angel, alright? Don't worry about it."
"A guardian angel!?" Unica gasped, excited by the idea of having her very own angel to look after her. She wasn't a particularly religious child and neither of her parents forced her to go to Sunday school or practice any declared religion, but her mother would pray every night as she tuck Unica into bed, so one could say that she was a Christian - especially when it came to the idea of angels clad in white and gold ascending from on high to vanquish evil. It was a comforting idea to her, that there was a higher power who would send beautiful soldiers down to fight. And that was that: Birdie was her guardian angel.
Birdie glanced down at Unica as the child looked back with wide, awestruck eyes. "Or something," Birdie huffed, suddenly regretting her choice of words. It didn't matter, though. As long as the girl trusted her, things were going good. Just as Birdie was about to say her goodbyes to the group and tug her new partner along with her, Kyo spoke again, mentioning that they had a train to catch. What? A train? Where were they planning on going? Then Birdie remembered what the Cutemon had exclaimed soon before they had begun fighting - they were trying to get the girl home to the human world.
Birdie's eyes narrowed as she dismissed the idea. Unica couldn't go home. Not now. That would mean they couldn't train together. Perhaps they could, but Birdie would have to go with them to the other world and they would have to find a training ground or some rival Digimon to go up against. It wasn't implausible, but then she would be around humans and, man, did she despise humans. The nail that sealed the hypothetical coffin was when Kyo mentioned that Birdie would have to devolve, and there was no way she would let that happen! If Birdie wouldn't go to the human world but wanted to remain by Unica's side, there was only one option left: Unica would have to stay in the digital world.
When Unica pulled away from Birdie's grip and began gathering her backpack in preparation to head to the train station, Birdie spoke up. "I don't think that's a good idea." She paused for a moment as she tried to think of a good argument against why Unica shouldn't return home. A series of ideas flooded through her mind, but she settled on the one that seemed like the most reasonable. "I'm her partner so shouldn't she stay with me?" she asked, her eyes landing on each of them and lingering for a long moment but not long enough for anyone to offer a complete counterargument. "I'm not ready for the human world yet, but I'll bring her home when I am," she suggested with a subtle smile. It wasn't really a lie, but who knew how long it would take for her to be ready. Unica, crouched over her backpack, seemed to be torn on the idea. She wanted to get home as soon as possible to see her mommy and daddy, but she also didn't want to leave without her partner.

The reason they had come here had...come up once more. A return to the Human World for Unica. "...Yeah. We do have a train to catch." Coolmon noted, fidgeting and adjusting her headphones in the process. Birdie seemingly agreed to be Unica's guardian angel. This was something that...pleased Coolmon. She gave the bird she was formerly trying to bonk the snoot out of a warm smile.
"A guardian angel works. Or a friend."
However, Birdie was kind of worrying her. Huh. Not ready? Can't she like...feign being one giant stuffed bird? Or was she way too jumpy for that...
Hm.
"...I've got an idea. You can...like...grab a holosuit around here, right? It's only a few bits and lets you take a disguise. Barring that you could like...stay really still and pretend to be a stuffed animal." Coolmon felt super smart right now but it was really just common sense.
Coolmon glanced over to Yuu and the Astamon for...well, input. She had zero idea on what to do in this situation.

No matter how she looked at this, this wasn't a good idea. No, scratch that; this was the worse idea she had heard in a looong time. Leaving a little girl behind with a digimon that had been anything but rude thus far wasn't going to work out. She didn't have an ounce of trust on this Piyomon, and she hadn't done anything to gain it, so... there was just no way she'd leave Unica stranded in this place.
It kinda still came to the girl's decision but, Yuu was determined to do everything in her power to ensure the result wasn't her just being stranded in this place. "Well." Her signs began to be translated quickly. "I think we have to come to an agreement in here. Just like the Digital World, the world where humans live works in a specific way, and that means that we have to ensure to get Unica back as soon as possible because she has urgent matters to tend to. So, here are the options."
She made a short pause before continuing. "Either you remain here while she tends to those matters and wait until she returns, or you decided to acclimate to her world. I honestly believe she's way less ready for this world than you are for hers, and that the argument you can use could very well used the other way around. In any case, whether you decide to come or to stay, we should be on our way."
Yuu then proceeded to look at Unica before extending her hand in her direction. She sincerely hoped she'd go with this because otherwise... she'd be on a pretty rough spot.

Unbelievable. This wasn't going the way Birdie had hoped. Both Long-Ears and the Astamon refused to comply with her proposal, offering up solutions such as spending her hard earned bits on a holo-suit, staying in the area and waiting for Unica to return when she was ready, or just bucking up and going with them to the human world. Birdie tried to keep up the friendly disposition but it proved difficult and her facade fell away when Yuu outstretched a hand to the young girl. Instinctually, Birdie grabbed the small child's shoulder and jerked her away from the older woman. Unica reacted by gasping and stumbling backwards, eyes wide and filled with panic as she was unsure what exactly what going on. Why was Birdie being mean again? Immediately upon seeing Unica's reaction, Birdie let go of her partner and took a step back, her eyes darting over to Coolmon and Kyo to see how they responded. She hadn't intended on startling or upsetting Unica, she simply didn't want the girl to leave.
Ashamed, Birdie looked away from the group and glared at a spot on the ground a few feet off. That Astamon and the older human were proving to be troublesome. Every muscle in her body told her to fight back: don't let these punks tell you what to do. And yet, self-preservation won out and caused her to stand back and watch as her partner grabbed Yuu's extended hand. The child glanced back at Birdie and hollered, "C'mon Birdie!" In reaction to the girl's words, Birdie looked back at Unica and simply stared. There was nothing left for her to say, was there? The decision had been made for her. She would stay back and wait for the human to return. After realizing what her Digimon's silence meant, Unica frowned, obviously upset that her partner had chosen not to come along. "Wait," Unica said to her friends before letting go of Yuu's grip. She ran up to Birdie and twirled around so they were facing the same direction.
The familiar look of irritation crossed over Birdie's face as she tried to figure out what the child was doing. Unica grabbed her shoulder straps to keep the pack in place as she announced that there was some food and a notebook in her bag which she wanted her partner to have. She claimed that the food would make Birdie happy and the notebook would help pass the time. "You can draw or write notes to your friends!" she giggled as Birdie worked on removing the lunchbox and notebook. Birdie's expression didn't accurately represent the range of emotions she was feeling at that moment. She was amused at the child's gifts, she was upset at the idea that she had or needed friends, and she was disinterested in the items being given. She didn't need handouts; yet, she still accepted what was offered. After Birdie zipped up the bag, Unica turned around, waved goodbye to her digital partner, and returned to Yuu before grabbing hold of the woman's hand once more.
As the group began walking away, Birdie glanced down at the tin box and pad of paper between her claws. Just then, something caught her attention and she cocked her head to one side as she identified the foreign object-- a straw hat! It was the hat that fell off Unica's head when Birdie collided with her. With a sort of waddle, Birdie walked over to the hat and pecked at the edge with her beak, testing its durability. Once convinced that it would hold up, Birdie shifted the lunchbox and notebook under one wing then grabbed the hat with her free hand. Carefully, she put it on top of her head and glanced in the direction Unica and the others had walked off to. Working with the young girl would prove interesting.
Down the street a ways, Unica walked alongside her three friends as they headed toward the train station. On occasion, Unica would glance back in hopes that her partner was there, running or flying in an attempt to catch up with them. Had she made the wrong decision? If not, why did she feel some crumby? If so, should she go back now before it was too late? Birdie had looked so upset - at least, that's how it appeared to Unica. "I miss Birdie," she sighed after a while, looking down at her feet. "Will she be okay?" the child asked, her eyebrows furrowing together in concern as she looked at Coolmon and then at Kyo.

...Man. Coolmon really wanted to trust Birdie in this situation. She really did with all of her heart but literally everything that had been presented to her thus far had proven...unsupportive of that desire. Entirely.
So, she found herself nodding along with Yuu and Kyo's decision and...actually supporting them. Mostly out of fear of getting thrown in the slammer but you get the idea, yeah?
Coolmon had no real reactions to anything going on at this moment, just following along up until Unica spoke. "...I think she'll be fine." Coolmon admitted. "She's a tough bird. I felt it during that scuffle."
Indeed, Unica's partner had proven to be a...tough cookie. "She'll be waiting for you. Trust me."
She hoped she was right. She disliked being wrong...

It was a... strange goodbye, that much the pair could conclude. Birdie definitely wasn't a trustworthy individual, but what else could they do? At least Unica had her feet firmly set on the ground regarding this, and for that much, Yuu was glad. She thought she'd become an excellent tamer someday, but right now, setting a family at ease was the higher priority by a far margin.
As the small girl took her hand again, the blonde smiled as they resumed their small journey towards the train station; as expected, Unica had her doubts about this arrangement, but that was understandable. A sad smile was painted on Yuu's face for an instant, before going back to her usual, calm expression.
["Don't worry. She'll be fine."] As much as she wanted to impart a higher meaning on how priorities worked for both humans and digimons, it was probably pointless to do so at the moment, so instead, as they approached the train station. ["Let's get you back to your parents. I'm sure they're as worried about you as you are about Birdie."]
The process of buying a ticket and boarding a Trailmon wasn't anything to write home about, and given that the duo had done it countless time, it was a matter of minutes before the foursome (or threesome, if Coolmon decided on stay in this world as well) found themselves seated inside one.
A somewhat long journey was ahead of them, but... at least the chances of the rest of their journey being hindered were close to zero now.

Both Coolmon and Yuu said that Birdie would be fine because should was tough and could take care of herself. That was reassuring, but part of Unica still wanted to go back and try to convince her partner to come along. However, she really did want to see her family again and tell them all about the strange place she had been in. For that to happen, she had to go along with the older woman to a train station. Perhaps it was the train station that she had been transported from. Maybe she would find her mother waiting for her just beyond the ticket booth. However, when the four finally arrived, Unica noticed that her parents were not waiting for her. In fact, the entire station was filled with Digimon of various sizes without a single human in sight aside from Yuu and Unica herself. Stranger still, the trains had faces! She truly was in a strange world. As they approached one of the funny looking trains, Unica shriveled back to hide behind Yuu. She would never get used to inanimate objects staring at her.
After they got inside of the Trailmon and found a few seats to sit on, Unica wobbled her legs over the side and patted her knees to a rhythm of her own creation. Quietly, she began humming along to the beat. She had no idea how this train would return her home, but she liked to think that they would pull up to her apartment balcony and she'd hop off of train while waving goodbye to her friends, like the kids in My Neighbor Totoro riding on the Catbus. The Catbus looked scary too but ended up being really friendly, which helped calm Unica's nerves about riding inside a living thing. Her humming slowed to a stop along with the patting of her knees. She took her left hand and gently caressed the seat beside her. Could the train feel this? Did it like being pet like a cat? She decided it did and continued stroking.
When the bell began going off, announcing that a train was pulling out of the station, and her seat rocked a little as their Railmon started moving, Unica hurriedly turned around in her seat and looked out one of the glass windows, at the station which was slipping out of view. Had Coolmon decide to stay behind, Unica would have waved and blown kisses goodbye, not realizing that the two might never see each other again. Once content looking out the window, she returned to her regular sitting position and looked up at Yuu to see what she was doing. Already bored and wanting something to do, Unica began mimicking exactly what Yuu was doing. If she coughed, Unica did. If she crossed her hands behind her head, Unica would too. It was the best way she could think of to pass the time.

((Oh god this was so far down my participated threads thing I completely forgot about it. I'm so sorry!))
Coolmon didn't have much else to say. She hopped into the bus with Yuu and Unica, determined to follow them through to the end of this little journey. While the little human might be a bit more...
...Naive? Was that it? Yeah, let's do that. Naive than most? It was amusing for Coolmon to watch. "...Think the cat can feel that?" She asked, opting to join in on the catbus seat-petting.
...If only she had brought her card games. That'd be nice. She'd probs be able to teach people how to play.

And just like that, their journey back to the Human World would promptly begin. Both Yuu and Kyo were somewhat surprised that Coolmon decided to accompany them, and hoped she'd find a way to hide in the Human World. In fact...
"Say, Coolmon. Take you have a holosuit or something, right? Or that you can hide somewhere while we're in the human world. It'll be a bit of a waste you came otherwise."
Kyo's question was in point, and at least it'd give them enough time to think about something to do in case the Cutemon wished to see the end of this travel in the only fitting way; the little girl reuniting with her parents.
Other than that, there wasn't really much to do while the trip lasted; just to see the panorama as it slowly changed colors and shapes while smiling a bit at how endearing the whole bus-petting situation was.

When Kyo began talking to Coolmon about a Holosuit, Unica started tuning them out. She had no idea what a Holosuit was and she didn't really care to learn. It was an adult thing, she figured. She stopped mimicking Yuu's behavior and stared at the man sitting across from them. He carried on a quiet conversation with his animal companion, a purple penguin with red claws and a jagged beak. In a way, the penguin reminded Unica of her own Digimon and she let out a sad sigh at the thought. Why hadn't Birdie come with them? To distract herself, Unica turned around in her seat again and stared out the window at the passing scenery. Everything looked boring and dark. They were in a tunnel, after all, so there wasn't much to look at. Unica let out an annoyed groan and threw her head back. Kneeling on the seat and grabbing hold of the windowsill, Unica began rocking back and forth, dipping in and out of view between Kyo, Yuu, and Coolmon.
"I'm booored!" she whined, stopping suddenly and looking up at the ceiling of the train. Something had caught her attention. A bee-like creature clung to the ceiling, its six wings pressed against its yellow body with its eyes closed. Perhaps it was hitching a ride or perhaps its partner was somewhere else on board. Regardless, Unica kept her attention locked on the creature. "Hello!" she chimed, releasing one hand from the window and waving up at it. It didn't wave back. It appeared to be asleep. That didn't stop Unica, though. She rose her voice and called out for the Digimon again. Its wings fluttered and its eyes opened into slits, but it quickly closed them before going still again.
The rest of the ride was more of the same. Unica entertained herself by looking at all the Digimon, talking to strangers, and complaining about how bored she was. However, as they approached their destination, Unica noticed something strange. The Digimon were slowly -- one by one -- taking on different appearances. The penguin in front of her turned into a pre-teen girl with a purple and white hoodie, blonde hair, and painted fingernails. One of the creatures at the end of the train car changed from a tiny dinosaur into a bulldog. This confused Unica. Were they evolving the same way Kyo had? Maybe, but this seemed different. Instead of changing from one bizarre-looking animal to another bizarre-looking animal, these transformations were more... realistic. They looked like real people and real pets.
Before Unica really had the time to wrap her head around what was happening, the train skidded to a stop and she looked out the window hurriedly. What she saw was heart-warming and familiar. It was Shibuya Terminal, the place where Unica had first lost her mother and had found herself in the middle of the desert. It looked as though this particular train platform was abandoned, since only a few people waited by the tracks. Looking a bit further on, Unica discovered a gate that appeared to be shut and locked. Beyond the gate was the regular station full of people scurrying around and going about their day, completely unaware of the sentient train in their midst. "Woah!" Unica gasped, awestruck.

"Well, ah...I actually don't. I was honestly just gonna wait at the platform while you took Unica back..." Or hiding somewhere. This was probably the better of the two plans to follow. Coolmon gave Kyo a very respectful nod. "...I wanna apologize for earlier. That was...Probably not the coolest thing in the world for me to do."
What happened earlier -was- bothering her in more ways than one. Not only was that sort of a lapse in judgement, but it...just kind of confirmed something that had been sitting at the back of Coolmon's head.
The idea that maybe she never -would- get a partner. The idea that maybe she's destined to be alone.
...Kind of boring. Kind of melodramatic. Eugh...
Everyone started donning holosuits. Something Coolmon didn't have yet. "...Guess we're here now. Man, I wish I had one of those. So, from here you guys go on?"

Just like that, the trip proceeded like normal; it'd take them a while, and Unica was probably getting on the 'super bored' side of the spectrum, but at least it seemed like she was managing. For now, Coolmon ad Yuu decided to settle the last details of this outing.
"Well, that's a bit of a pity." Kyo said to the bunny's negative. It'd have been better if she could've witnessed Unica reuniting with her parents and stuff, but there wasn't anything they could do at the moment, so... not much to be done about it.
The trip would eventually end, everyone descending into the platform and finally reaching the relative safety of the Human World. By now, Kyo was already donning her holosuit, her body changing pretty much as the little girl saw everyone inside take their more 'mundane' appearances. Now, there was more or less only one step left, wasn't it?
"Well. Here we are; say, Unica... Can I get your phone for a second? That way, we'll get in contact with your family!"
The now human-looking digimon couldn't resist sounding excited; meeting a tamer's parents wasn't something she did every day, after all! First, however, they'd have to get away from the Trailmon's were boarded and into the more... proper station, so to say.
Once contacting the girl's parents was taken care of, that is!

Unica was too starstruck by everything that was happening to pay any attention to what Coolmon was saying. Living trains! Shape-shifting animals! Teleporting terminals! Everything was so exciting, she couldn't help but feel over stimulated. She was beginning to feel a little light-headed, but she was in the home stretch and it wouldn't have been much longer before she was back with her parents, in a setting that she could understand and rationalize. Her eyes were glued to the window until Kyo spoke up, asking for Unica's phone. The young girl tore her attention away from the outside world and looked over at blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman whose voice resembled her friend's. Startled, Unica glanced around for Kyo, temporarily locking eyes with Coolmon and Yuu in the process before finally settling on the mysterious woman again. Although it took some time for Unica to connect the dots, a smile ultimately crossed over her face when she finally realized what had happened. "Ooh!" she chimed, followed by a soft giggle. "You're Doggy!" she laughed, proud of herself for making the realization.
As she wound down, Unica turned around in her seat, pulled off her backpack, and unzipped the front pocket where she pulled out a tiny piece of paper. It was the same scrap of paper she had shown Yuu and Kyo when they first met in the desert. Upon the paper was scrawled a Shibuya phone number in red ink. The numbers had been written clearly and carefully, as to ensure that each was legible. While it was not an actual phone, it was a phone number for Unica's mother and that would have been enough to get in contact with her, provided someone had a cellphone or decided to use one of the payphones in the terminal. Perhaps that's what Kyo and Yuu were thinking, or perhaps they just wanted to get off the train before it decided to depart; regardless of the reason, they led the way off the train. Hurriedly, Unica zipped up her backpack, put it on her back again, and hopped from the seat. She even made a point to wait for Coolmon, still unaware that she would have to say goodbye soon. Unica continued following Yuu and Kyo around the train station, clenching the phone number in her hand and staying closeby to ensure that she would not accidently end up in another world again.
