Lofty Ideals for a Lofty City [Katsura/Pipmon/Cion]

OOC: This thread is a continuation of Air Impster. I'm returning the POV to Brad for this thread.
Brad was fidgeting in his seat with excitement as Blimpmon arrived in the fabled Luminas City. The beautiful cloud-tipped towers of the city were all around, as was the hustle and bustle of a city that seemed like it was at peace. "Please remain in your seats until we have arrived" Blimpmon requested through the intercom. And so they did. In the last few moments, Colin spoke to Pipmon a little about this 'PROFIT' organization. "Well, if you basically are a hard and honest worker and if you want to have a job, you're welcome with us" Colin said. "Of course, I'm not expecting a decision right away, but, once you digivolve to Champion, maybe we can work something out if you feel like you're up to it?" he suggested. After a few minutes, they were directed to land in an Airship bay at the Luminas City docks. Blimpmon finally gave the all-clear for disembarkation. As everyone got ready, Brad looked at Colin. "So where are you guys going?" he asked, curiously. "We're going to get some tools for Luke" Colin answered. "He wants to start helping out as an Engineer, so, we were told that the prices are better here"Luke was looking quite pleased at this. Bellamy meanwhile folded his arms irritably. "If those pious jerks think they can get away with tellin' you to keep me on a leash again..."
"Oh Bellamy, they weren't serious about that" Luke chuckled, gently nudging his brother with his elbow. Well, regardless, it seemed that they would part ways for the moment. And so as they disembarked the Blimpmon, Brad turned to the others that were with them. "So, uh, I don't really know where to go" the Bearmon admitted. "Maybe we could ask a passerby or something?" he suggested, hoping that would give them the results they were looking for. After all, it seemed such a proud holy city would surely hold a digimon that knew about the repair and maintenance of Holy Rings?

Katsura was surprised to hear Pipmon's explanation, "Loyalty? But how? I'm worthless, I'm nothing!" Katsura looked down at the monitor and so did Nyao. "I think the Digi-Device begs to differ". Then the Arnamon said that they will solve the problem. "Right, anything to make Nyao better". As they were instructed to leave the Blimpmon, Nyao jumped into Katsura arms once released from the seat. Katsura carried Nyao outside the Blimpmon but not without bowing before Colin in gratitude. "Thank you for the honor" It was then that Katsura had time to see the city, this looked far more like what she had expected than the forest. Katsura then turned to Pipmon who had known everything so far. In a low pitch she asked: "So what do we do now?"

Pipmon shook his head at Katsura's harsh words, trying his very hardest to keep the somewhat irritable look from spreading across his features. But as well as he had managed to do so, there was no denying that he had cut off his flow of information on the subject for at least the time being. The vision of Luminas City loomed over him with more prominence than ever before, so either way he had sooner or later turned his mind into a maelstrom of thoughts and ideas, factors and hinderances. His body had gone on auto-pilot during the unboarding of Blimpmon, his trademark hat tumble even being preformed on muscle memory alone. The moment he came to, the rodent Digimon would end up blinking rather stupidly as he started to realize where he had ended up.
He quickly gathered his thoughts and when the questions came on where they should be heading next, he already had an answer ready. "I propose we head over to the workshop of Antylamon, one of the former apprentices of Vulcanusmon. As far as blacksmithing and holy items are concerned, I think she might as well be the finest embodiment of both. I highly doubt we'll get to talk to someone of that stature ourselves, though." Scratching behind his ears, Pipmon looked over those gathered around him with slight worry. He was afraid to admit that on his area of expertise he started to show his shortcomings. "If you'd all give me some time to figure out the right course of action I hopefully.. well.. would do just that."

While the others still seemed bound to their conversation about how to make a proper living, Cion simply continued to look out of Blimpmon's windows to behold Luminas City's marvelous appearance. There was really one way to describe it properly, heavenly. Despite what she had heard thus far about the city's flaws, she would remain open-minded and excited about everything, but would also make sure to defend Pipmon and Bellamy in case someone sought trouble. Deep within... she hoped the accusations of fanaticism were not true.
After Blimpmon docked at the city's port, they exited it. It was not long that Colin's trio told them about their personal business in Luminas City and made their way to pursue that; leaving her, Brad, Pipmon, Katsura and Nyao to proceed with their task at hand on their own. But first they needed a plan to do that. Brad admitted he had no idea where to go and neither did Cion, but the Bearmon suggested to ask around for directions, which seemed reasonable. "Or maybe a guard? I'm sure if anyone is willing to help and knows the city, it's such digimons." She added to his proposal with a calm voice.
But then there was Pipmon again, once again having a clear plan like he was able to foresee the future and wanted to direct it to their benefit. "How... do you know them?" The Arnamon asked him as she briefly scratched her left cheek. The better question would have probably been 'How do you always know everything?', but she was not that brash. And there seemed to be a more imporant problem, which was how to get an audience with these smithing-experts in the first place. Such renowned digimon would likely not just welcome any strangers.
"Sure, take all the time you need. Calm and without pressure." Cion supported the Pipmon with all her sympathy. It'd only hurt him and their cause if he was to be put under stress by them, and hopefully the others realized that as well.

(OOC: Not at all, it's fine. I for one am happy for you to steer the direction of this thread a bit. Although it'd be best to keep the post in order and add OOC's in your post or things like PM's or the cbox perhaps?. We'll all get around to reading it eventually).
Brad would have none of Katsura's self-depreciating words. The Bearmon turned to her when he was first able and said in a gentle but firm voice. "Why do you feel that way?" he asked, tilting his head curiously. "Have you truly made nobody else happy? I think your partner begs to differ in that regard, right?" he asked Nyao, hoping she would confirm his statement.
He turned to Pipmon, who seemed to know where things were. "Okay then, let's go and see her" he said brightly, not seeing any harm in the matter. "And if not, well, hopefully we can find something up here that can help regardless".
Cion seemed to be surprised how Pipmon knew this. "Well, Pipmon is a soldier, perhaps he learned about them on his travels?" the Bearmon suggested, not really bothered by what Pipmon did or didn't know. "And if Vulcanusmon is a famous smith of holy artifacts, well, it goes without saying that his apprentices would be just as splendid".
Pipmon seemed unsure though. "That's fine, I'm sure you can come up with something that will solve our conundrum here" the Bearmon assured him, gently patting his back in a friendly sort of way.
Brad then proceeded from the airship port to the city proper. All manner of light elemental and holy digimon were walking around, most of them minding their own business. As they reached the market area, however, things got quite busy.
"OHHH MYYYY~!" a Veedramon wearing an assortment of fine clothes and jewels was saying in an extremely loud and hammy voice. "THESE JEWELS TRUUUULY LOOK EXQUISITE!! OH IF OOONLY THEY WERE AS FINELY CRAFTED AS THOSE FROM ANTYYYYLAMON!!"
"Sir, do you plan on buying any of those?" the Strabimon at the stall asked, looking embarrassed.
"...HOW DAAARE YOU!" the Veedramon shouted. "DO YOU KNOOOW WHO I AM?! I AM LADY VEENA DE COVERLET!!"
"Heh heh, oh dear" Brad giggled to himself. "Well then, guess Antylamon's brand is respected here then" he remarked to the group.

Brad had just asked Katsura why she felt that way about herself, truly she hadn't thought about why. Her self-worth and and self-esteem was destroyed years ago. "I'm just realistic" "Have you truly made nobody else happy? I think your partner begs to differ in that regard, right? Nyao nodded getting the hint from Brad, "Please stop thinking like that" Nyao knew what was going on, in fact she knew so much she understood why Katsura won't like to explain. Then Nyao saw Pipmon scathing his ears, which made her slightly suspicious of his knowledge (Does he really know what he is doing?) Meanwhile Katsura listened in on the suggestion of heading to a blacksmith, it certainly sounded promising. "Do you think they will help?".
By that point, Katsura noticed what for her seemed like a large obnoxious digimon getting offended over some 'tacky' jewels. "Aren't greed and pride supposed to be sins too?" Katsura snarkily remarked making no attempt to hide her annoyance over the Veedramon behavior. As on cue, a gang of Angemon suddenly grabbed the Veedramon by her shoulders and forcefully dragged her away to who knows where. Katsura was impressed by the swiftness of this holy equivalent of a police-force. The fact that this 'arrestment' was a blatant display of police brutality normally only seen in corrupt police states and dictatorships didn't seem to cross Katsura's mind though it left Nyao with a disturbed facial expression. Nyao nervously turned to Pipmon, "So what happens to her now?"

A lot came at the small rat Digimon at once. Before he could well and calmly explain his information gathering habbit to Cion, the Veedramon under the guise of Lady Veena had come bursting unto the scene, only to be swept away by the patrolling guards just as quickly. His mind raced, going over their options. In the end all it did was bring the lone Pipmon closer to caving in under the pressure, and if it hadn't been for the fact that he was very much aware of this he just might have had. "To answer your question, Nyao.. I have no idea. While they do have a court, rarely are these cases open to the public, and if they were, it wouldn't want to make you stick around the place for much longer on principle alone. And there is very little we can do for her, I'm afraid. Coming up with a scheme to save her and then having to tell as much as a fib would cause the whole thing to come crashing down on us."
He hoped this would discourage the group to dig any further into the matter. While at the very least theories, he had heard of what might be going on behind closed doors in this city. Distancing themselves as far as possible from a fate such as that was without a doubt the best course of action. And thus he would aim to get their journey back on track, back to the subject of Antylamon. "We can always visit Antylamon's workshop. It wouldn't be a lie to say this case falls under the category "commissions" -or more accurately "reparations"-, so we can try and give it a shot, see where that takes us." To avoid any of the fallout caused by the incident to grab hold of them, Pipmon just ran off into the crowd, every so often climbing a lamp post and beckoning his companions to follow him. And just in time, for the outraged cries further down the block told him that Lady Veena De Coverlet wasn't above providing her captors some resistance.
The workshop of one of the greatest artisans of the current generation stood out in the city of gold and marble like a Mammothmon among Otamamon: A rather sober brick building with two chimneys constantly spewing trails of smoke into the air. The front gate would be somewhat imposing, made out of solid digizoid capable of taking quite the hit before even showing as much as a scratch. It made Pipmon wonder if they ever had needed it as he headed on inside, being greeted by the scorching heat coming from inside. Even in the waiting hall it might have been an experience like they had only been inches away from the furnaces roaring behind another set of closed door. Sitting behind a counter on the far end of the room and currently staring at them would be a Meteormon, his hands clasped together and a somewhat bored look on his face. "Welcome to the Antylamon Armory, mastery in the field of metalworking. How may I be of service to you today?"

Brad, similar to Cion, almost instantly approved of Pipmon's suggestion to seek out the two famous smith he had mentioned. There was still the problem of attaining an audience with them, but they had all the time in the world to think about a way. Perhabs if they managed to catch them and explain them the situation they would comply? As a soldier with a good sense of logic, he'd surely find the right words to convince them.
Together, they left the port and eventually reached the market area, the most likely location were those that could fix Nyao's ring resided in for business. The first thing they found however was an impudent Veedramon with unclear gender that sought to exploit a jeweler. It was swiftly she got carried away by a troup of Angemon that were fed up with her behaviour, which delighted the Arnamon greatly. The others however seeemed aghast by this event, which left her confused. Justice served swiftly was a good thing not? It was not like she would be executed for public hubris... or?
Looking to the others, she shook her head and did her best to appear relaxed and focused. "It is not our business. We should focus on helping our dear Salamon, yes?" She calmly reminded them of the very reason they were here. There was no point in breaking the laws and getting punished themselves, especially for someone with such an insolent attitude to him/her as that Veedramon.
Thankfully, Pipmon, their unofficial leader and brains of the undertaking, was agreeing with the sentiment and quickly focused his attention back on the mission. And it seemed that the talented Antylamon was their best option, even if they had to pay that digimon for their work. Maybe they could get some compassion-discount since they were so young and otherwise helpless. After all, that was a virtue the city would approve of, and abusing their plight would be a crime.
Distancing from the crime scene, they eventually reached the stone building that supposedly belonged to the smith they sought to meet. It was unbearable hot inside, making her pant ever so often as her frame was clearly designed for more modest or cold temperatures. At the sales counter, they would encounter an Meteormon, which was no surprise to Cion at all; neither its bored attitude. The people in this place really did not seem pleasant, despite it being a city of goodness.
As it asked them for the reason they were here, the Arnamon decided to stay quiet, believing Katsura and Nyao should speak up instead of her and the others. She even motioned them to do that, giving the girl a gentle nudgle in the leg.

Brad raised an eyebrow at Katsura's words. It didn't sound very realistic to him. Somewhat hyperbolic and exaggerating. But, alas, that would be something he hoped he could help out with later on, as it seemed they were proceeding through the city on their small emergency.
Brad was surprised that the Veedramon was seemingly removed so quickly. Perhaps she had a history of pestering people in the market area? Well, it wasn't his business, so he continued onward, following Pipmon.
"Well I don't think she did anything particularly wrong, so I presume she'll be let off with a warning?" he asked. "Well, regardless, let's continue on. Somehow I don't feel very comfortable in this city if they take such silly behaviour so seriously".
If she was accosted so easily, Bellamy might be in trouble too, given how quick his temper was and how unafraid he was of offending others. So he hoped they wouldn't be too long up here.
Rushing along behind Pipmon, Brad eventually saw their destination. An impressively fortified forge building where presumably the artisans within made the holy digizoid. A Meteormon greeted them with professionalism.
Brad decided to let Katsura and Nyao do the talking, seeing as they were here for her benefit. Instead, Brad smiled with a nod and looked at the wares on display, impressed. While not a light attribute digimon himself, he felt a warm tingling power come from some of the metalwork. However, he was careful not to touch.

Pipmon had failed to calm Nyao down in what happens to law offenders. Nyao looked down as she was still getting carried by Katsura. Katsura by contrast, shrugged it off which made Nyao curious. "Umm, Katsura? "Yes?" "Doesn't it bother you how cruel those holy digimon are?" "Of course it does, but there is nothing I can do about it. That's how it always is. It's just like home" "Bu-but?", Nyao stuttered, "This is the most holy city in the digital world." Katsura giggled, there was a certain darkness over the way Katsuta laughed and it made Nyao feel stupid. "Nyao, look around. The strong still beat up the weak for the tiniest reason." Katsura indicated a vilemon being swarmed by holy digimon next to a "take one sign". "I swear vile! I was going to pay vile!" "And the one you should actually fear is too smart to get caught anyway." A single DemiDevimon snook away by taking advantage of the commotion with a big grin much to Nyao's horror. "That DemiDevimon could become a Apocalymon one day." Nyao sad with a depressed mood. "If this is the most 'holy' city, I'm not impressed. That building over there though" Katsura had just discovered a large golden building which turned out to be Antylamon's blacksmith. Seeing that there were finally someone who could help them filled Nyao with relief. Inside they were greeted by a Meteormon on the edge of the stone building, right at the warmest place was the symbol of the crest of Loyalty marked. "Welcome to the Antylamon Armory, mastery in the field of metalworking. How may I be of service to you today?" Speaking with ventures was something Katsura knew how to, returning the professionalism Katsura cleared her throat and bowed in respect. "My name is Ise, Katsura. My partner digmon has a broken holy ring and we have flown all the way here to seek your service." Little did they realize that the ring was suffering from psychological damage as Nyao was thinking corrupting thoughts. A reparation, by itself would only serve as a makeshift.

The Meteormon could have passed off as a statue as he listened to Katsura's explaination, not even bothering to check the schedule or write anything down that might be of importance later. Once he had heard everything he needed to know, the same droning monotone voice made sure to crush their hopes as sufficiently as possible. "From this I gather that no application has been filed yet? That alone will take you at least a month before an appointment will be made. I-.." Before he could continue his bureaucratic ramblings, a tall and slender figure appeared behind him and picked him up by the head. It didn't seem to phase the mineral Digimon in the slightest, greeting the mysterious newcomer in his trademark bland way. "Master Antylamon. These people ar-.." Interrupted once again by the master of the workshop, Meteormon couldn't even finish his sentence as he was thrown into a nearby wall with such force that by the time the dust had settled, only a pair of faintly wiggling legs would be left sticking out of the newly formed crater.
"My apologies for the bad first impression, Katsura Ise. I heard your plea for help." The hulking figure that was Antylamon now stood before them all, pointing her finger at the Holy Ring around Nyao's neck. "Little one, you will destroy every Holy Ring of mine if you stray further down the road of doubt." Pipmon chewed his lip as his worst suspicions came to be, that it was damage far beyond that a simple repair could fix. Meanwhile Antylamon had crouched down, looking back and forth between Katsura and her partner Digimon with a warm, almost motherly smile on her face. "That doesn't mean that all hope is lost. I can see that there are Digimon here who have gathered in order to help you out, some for different reasons than others." She glanced over at Pipmon, who had no idea how quickly he could get out of sight which in turn caused the blacksmith to chuckle. "I cannot choose your destiny for you, but at the crossroads of virtue and vice I know which one would hold more value if I were to follow my personal beliefs."
At this point, if the speech had brought any hope to the Digicore of Nyao, some of the cracks would have receded and closed. Had it only struck her with more doubt, the cracks no doubt had grown even more severe.

When Brad suggested that the Veedramon was most likely just let off with a warning, Cion added as it seeemed the most reasonable thing to do. Punishment needed to be appropriate, or all one would create was an atmosphere of fear and submission, not cooperation and harmoy. She was confident that the wise, holy digimons here understood that and acted upon this idea of compassion, though she of course could not be sure. All she could do was hope for the best. But that was of no concern anymore, as they still had to deal with Salamon's broken ring at the smithy.
Thankfully, Katasura was quick to take the initiative and approached the Meteormon, though she did not yet tell what it was she actually wanted. Instead, she beat around the bush in an attempt to attain sympathy points. It was not quite the Arnamon's style, but she understood why the girl was doing it and allowed her small deception to proceed. Eventually, they got to the meat of everything and the Meteormon responded with an explanation that was... disheartening.
An application, seriously? It daunted Cion a little, and made her doubt the purity of this place even further. She understood that there was a point to a queue, but an entire month just for a puny form? She sighed, wondering what they were suppoed to do about that. To their fortune however, no pondering was required since Antylamon herself appeared to deal with the matter. However, the way she dealt with Meteormon left her shocked and irate. "That was completly uncalled for!" She exclaimed against the master smith before rushing over to the poor rookie digimon.
Standing next to the feet that were sticking out of the wall the Meteormon was stuck in, she gently stroked over them as her hands glowed in a white light. And as she was mending him with her 'Bracing Respite' technique, hoping the Meteormon was not suffering serious injuries, she spoke to him with a calm voice. "Are you alright? Do you need help to get out?"

Brad was starting to understand why Bellamy didn't like it here. Despite how well the Bearmon's intentions were, seeing horrible things happening that just weren't right... he thought he would much like to see the city fading from view through a window on the Blimpmon transport.
In the shop, Brad was astonished that it would take over a month to fix the holy ring. Then Antylamon themselves appeared, seemingly disapproving of Gotsumon's bureaucracy by throwing him against the wall.
"Hey! Why did you do that?" Brad asked, agreeing with Cion's outrage at his treatment. That was such a horrible way to treat someone, even if they were being a bit inconvenient with the goings on. He rushed over to help the Meteormon out of the wall.
"I presume that doesn't happen often?" he asked. Perhaps an alternative career would come to mind if this kind of treatment in the workplace was typical.
Meanwhile he listened to what Antylamon was saying. At least she was speaking to Katsura and Nyao respectfully. Ah, of course. The Holy Ring was part of Nyao's data, so the one that could truly fix it was she herself perhaps? Brad wondered if that sort of thing applied to his baseball cap?

Katsura didn't mind the way Antylamon treated his apprentice, for all she understood this was normal behavior. What she did care about was the things he said about Nyao and how even if she somehow tricked him to fix her ring, it won't matter anyway. As Katsura's whole body language turned against her, the fake bright smile rapidly lost its plausibility. While Katsura was smiling, her entire body was shaking, her movements was getting less and less human and started to remind one of a robot. For every word Katsura said, she abruptly shifted pose especially her head which moved like an owl. Another sign that her act was collapsing was that she constantly had to take breaks because her eyes insisted that tears was the most appropriate reaction. Katsura turned out to be the kind of person who could smile and act cheerful to a funeral even if she truly was filled with grief. "I... Do not... Understand? *snort*... Are you telling me... That... That it was all for nothing?" Ironically the one thing about Katsura's act that persisted, aside from occasional discorded pitches was her happy and friendly voice. Nyao wasn't sure if she should feel scared of Katsura or pitiful over the fact she apparently won't allow herself to cry even if her life depended on it.
Suddenly, the cheerful voice disappeared and was completely replaced with a partly discorded, partly angry pitch. Either Katsura had officially lost her mind or was driven to desperation, it was hard to tell even for Nyao.
"NO! I did not come all the way here to help my friend just to be told off! I... Demand that you help her... Please, I'll do anything!"
Once again Katsura's Digi-Device glowed bright with the Crest of loyalty, this time however it was different. Not only was it glowing more than twice the power from before, so did the corresponding symbol on the wall. Something about the way Katsura lashed out had activated the symbol.
"Look! I think it wants your Digi-Device." The sheer surprise over finding out that something actually heard Katsura's pleads was enough to bring her back to a mentally stable state albeit still shaken by the situation. Instinctively, Katsura walked over to the symbol completely abandoning her current conversation. Nyao decided to follow after Katsura to see where this going. Katsura took out her Digi-Device and showed it to the wall as the light of the symbol consumed a whole square until it shrunk into a tag with the Crest of Loyalty leaving behind a doorway to a downwards stairway. As it turns out, the Crest of Loyalty was used as a door to hide away these stairs.
At first, the tag seemed to fly into Katsura's Digi-Device but the second before it could be absorbed, a powerful force changed its direction as it flew inside this secret stairway.
From downstairs a firm voice was loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Katsura Ise, you're expected. Proceed, your friends are also welcome. " Reluctantly Katsura started walking down the stairs with Nyao right behind her. It wasn't a long stairway. Downstairs in a medium sized throne room a gallantmon was sitting in a throne and awaited their arrival. Once they're together, he had one question: "Why did you come here?"
