Bellamy didn't think he really minded the nickname 'Bells'. It sounded pretty neat actually. Maybe it'd catch on? But he regarded Patamon's question. "Huh, when Colin's not feelin' right?" he asked. "Well..." he spoke quietly so Colin couldn't hear. "When somethin's up, he doesn't smile much. Yeah he's usually quiet, but, he's still very fond of Luke and me, so... yeah". He looked at his partner. He had honestly not seen Colin feel truly despondent. He'd been a lucky kid, no tragedies had ever struck him. Yeah sometimes if he was stressed, he got sad. But Bellamy had never seen him go so far as crying.
Colin meanwhile was glad his choice was approved of. But his expression grew serious as Mitsuko explained what had happened. Luke paid attention too, ceasing his warmup for the song and listened, his guitar switched off.
"Oh... I see" Colin said. Luke blushed a little as he realized that his choice of song had caused such sadness at her loss to rise up. "I'm really sorry to hear that". There was little else he could say. He didn't know how to deal with deaths.
Luke meanwhile, did. Although he had never gone through the process that humans go through when someone they love dies. "Sorry about that, Mitsuko" he said. "Your mother sounds like she was a wonderful person, singing a song like that to you".
And then they played. It was more of a mysterious song this time, one that brought up a lot of feelings that Luke didn't know at first. His style changed constantly as he thought he homed in on what sort of way he should be playing, but, thought it didn't quite sound right and tried another. In a way, it was this that made the song somehow - a song about mystery itself. Luke thought to both the digital world and Earth, where many mysteries awaited discovery.
As the song finished, Luke grinned a little at the praise. "Heh, you think so?" he asked, eagerly. "Thanks, that'd be awesome if we could do that".
Colin meanwhile, after giving some applause (along with Bellamy), he glanced at his watch. "Great stuff guys. We've got time for one more if you wanna do that, but we'd have to head home afterward".
"Can you do a disney song?" Bellamy asked. Colin and Luke stared at him. "Don't judge me" he said, glowering.
"Heh. Got any suggestions, Mitsuko?" Luke asked, amused to hear that his brother liked Disney songs. But he didn't blame him, some of them were quite catchy.

Patamon listened to Bellamy's words. Not smiling. Check. Usually quiet. Check. Yep. Mitsuko was hiding something. Patamon was about to fly over and ask what was wrong, when Bellamy's words sunk in. Still very fond of Luke and me... So it wasn't Patamon's fault... perhaps it was something more serious? Patamon laid his head down, pawed at Bellamy's hair nonchalantly. Perhaps in time she would explain it all to him. He just needed to be patient. Yikes. That was a scary thought.
"Don't worry about it." Mitsuko smiled softly "It was a long time ago. I suppose the ones we love never truly leave us." The silverette looked over at Luke, as a small blush crept onto her face "Yes, she was. She taught me how to play, so in a way music keeps us connected. And yes, we should definitely play again. That is if Colin is okay with it." At the mention of the time, Mitsuko's smile faltered. How did it get so late already?!
Mitsuko was flipping through the book when the unusual suggestion came from Bellamy. The musician stopped mid flip and stared at the disguised Impmon. "Of course." Mitsuko flipped through the book multiple times, pausing to pull sheets out here and there. After a few moments the silverette handed over a few sheets of music Luke. (Hercules - 'I Won't Say I'm In Love.'; Mulan - 'I'll Make A Man Out of You'; and The Little Mermaid - "Kiss the Girl") "What do you think Luke? Do you have any preference?"
At this point Patamon was practically bouncing upon Bellamy's head. He hated not knowing stuff. "What do you think they are? Can you see? I can't!" Patamon spoke without awaiting Bellamy's response.

As Patamon pawed at his hair, Bellamy wondered if there was something more to the periods when Colin seemed unhappy. On the whole, he was a pretty even-headed kid. Would this change when he was older perhaps? Eh, they'd cross that bridge when they came to it.
While Luke didn't have a mother himself, well, he had family. And in a way he understood how complete someone felt when they were with someone they loved. If he lost Bellamy or Colin somehow, well, he'd never be the same.
Thankfully Mitsuko seemed to like the idea to play a song. Bellamy couldn't see the sheets, but could guess what one of them was when Luke raised an eyebrow at it. "Is one of 'em the one from Mulan? You should play that one!" he encouraged.
"Oh you just want to sing along with your own filthy lyrics don't you?" Luke asked teasingly. There was a beat then he smiled. "Okay then. Let's do it"
Bellamy didn't confirm or deny if he'd do this. Colin meanwhile chuckled, interested to see how this little localized disaster may play out. He hadn't heard his digimon sing before, and he was sure it wouldn't end well.
"Ready when you are" Luke said for the final time that afternoon.

Patamon's ears perked up at the sound of Mulan. "Oh oh oh!" Patamon pawed at Bellamy's head "That's a great choice! You can never go wrong with a cross dressing girl!" That statement earned him a quick glare from his partner. "WAIT you didn't let me finish!" Patamon whined. "A cross dressing girl, that saves a country and totally kicks as---"
"PATAMON!" Mitsuko cut across her partner. "I don't know where you learn these things you say but..."
"Hey, I can't help it the parental locks are easy to crack." Patamon grins cheekily "Besides, shouldn't you be playing?" Mitsuko hangs her head, partially in defeat and partially in embarrassment. Why couldn't she have a Digimon that was more refined?! With a sigh Mitsuko looks at Luke "Here we go!"
Mitsuko feels her fingers gliding over the keys, pressing the chords together in a beautiful melody. Her eyes follow the music, as her fingers seem to skate along the piano. Its an amazing song that seems to flow freely from her. The song is playful, yet serious at the same time. She spares a look at Luke as he plays along. He seems to be at peace, as if everything in the world is perfect. And for a moment it is. The silverette looks at Colin, he seems to be enjoying himself too. Her eyes fall upon Bellamy and Patamon, and she watches her partner nod his head and humming in his honey-like voice. Perhaps she doesn't have a refined partner, but she wouldn't trade hers in for anything. His musical abilities seem to match and compliment her own. Ironic how they are so different yet so similar. Mitsuko spares a look back at the sheet of music, memorizing the rest of the song before closing her eyes.
Sometimes, things happen for a reason. Perhaps it doesn't make sense right away, but someday it will. Thoughts of her mother, finding her partner, meeting Colin and the twins. Most importantly the time she was in serious danger and she prayed to her mother for protection, consequently resulting in Patamon's digivolution to Angemon. Yes, things may be dark, but she has to remember there is always something good in life. Mitsuko opens her eyes as the final notes finish echoing from the walls.
"How was that Bellamy?" Mitsuko calls from the stage. Patamon grins flys down into Bellamy's lap "Yeah Bells, do you feel like a Man or a Mon?" the rookie teases. Mitsuko just shakes her head, and shrugs at Colin with a 'what can you do' attitude, before she breaks into a grin. "Luke, again, you play beautifully. Hopefully we may do this again." Mitsuko says as she straightens up the music sheets, shooting a Colin a quick 'is that okay' glance.

"Heh yeah, the cross dressing girl" Bellamy chuckled.
"You should see Bellamy in drag" Luke quipped. "He shows up to a party once dressed as Maleficent and damn can he pull off that look well".
"DAMN IT LUKE!" Bellamy snarled, suddenly furious, but quickly turned off the rage when he realized it was a compliment. "Yeah I guess I can pull it off" he said smugly. "The high heels were a pain to do right but once you master those it's easy".
Colin now had the image of Bellamy slinking into a room wearing a leather outfit and forever had it burned into his mind. So much corruption. He looked over at Mitsuko. "Patamon probably came from the same part of the digital world as these two".
Then the music started playing. So good was it that Colin grinned and tapped his foot to it. Bellamy meanwhile enjoyed it so much that he started singing along to the lyrics. Although of course in his typical mischievous way, he changed them.
"Watch out he's got Pepper Breath!
There goes my insurance money!
'Least all this running's gonna make me slim~!
...can't think of a word that rhymes with Death!
Hey slow down a bit there, Lukey!
The chance of us gettin' through this song is grim!"
"Be a mon~" Colin sang.
"Ya must take warm clothes North or you'll shiver~"
By now Bellamy had reverted to singing the normal lyrics because he had run out of ideas. Luke was giggling and Colin was having lots of fun. Then the song finally ended. And Luke was laughing out loud.
"Hah, so much for your rude lyrics there, eh, Bells?" he asked.
"Hey, I wasn't really ready for it" Bellamy shrugged. "Besides, I realized that songs with digimon kinda fail because all of our names end with '-mon' so it's hard to rhyme cleverly".
That was true. He looked down at Patamon. "I'll always be 100% mon~" he said. "Except when I look like a man. Or a woman. Depending on if Luke wants to see me in drag like the lustful little devil he is"
"Whoa, talk about projection no jutsu, eh, Bells?" Luke teased. The brothers had now ritualized this back-and-forth and were doing it just for humor. And so Colin turned to Mitsuko.
"Thanks so much for doing this for Luke, Mitsuko, it's been really fun" he said.
"Yeah I'll say, you're just so awesome" Luke added. Well then. With that done, it seemed that it was about time for them to go.
"Keep in touch, Mitsuko, and you too Patamon, we should go on adventures sometime" Bellamy said as they prepared to leave. Luke was packing away the guitar and offering to help put away the things they had used.

The image of Bellamy as Maleficent was a disturbing one to remove from Mitsuko's head. Patamon, however, had other views. "Yeah, I can totally see it. It's in the eyes and cheeks!" Mitsuko just shakes her head, in equal parts of defeat and embarrassment. "I believe you're right Colin. I don't know if I should be relieved that Patamon isn't brain damaged, or worried that there might be more like him."
This comment caught Patamon's attention... "HEY!" He yelled. "There is no one like me. I'm one of a kind." For once, Mitsuko takes a page from Patamon's book, and rolls her eyes. Once the music starts, Patamon gets lost in humming the tune contentedly, until Bellamy's edits. His eyes snap open, and he tries (unsuccessfully) not to giggle. Mitsuko was trying to suppress her giggles too, her shoulders shaking slightly as she played.
"Haha, Bells, that was GREAT!" Patamon giggled. "And you're right. You'll always be a mon... Not sure about furbutt though..." Patamon teased as he stuck his tongue out at Luke. Mitsuko, however, was slightly startled at the brother's back and forth banter. Until Colin pulled her out of it. "Oh. Yes! No problem! You're welcome!" Mitsuko finally regained her train of thought "Thank you guys for coming."
"You're pretty awesome too Lukey!" Patamon calls to the disguised digimon. "Later Bells! Visit again soon!" Patamon flies off of Bellamy's lap and onto Mitsuko's head. She smiles, as Patamon makes himself comfortable upon Mitsuko's soft hair. "Oh, please Luke, don't worry about it. I will make sure to put everything away. You go, and enjoy your day. You guys deserve every bit of downtime you get. We all know you've probably earned it." Mitsuko smiled softly, as she puts the music book back onto a shelf.
Mitsuko has always been a bit of an outsider, until she became a digidestined. Perhaps this is Fate's way of giving her the best friends anyone could ask for. She truly felt... blessed. With another smile, she reached up and ran a delicate finger through Patamon's soft fur.

"Yep" Bellamy said, crossing his legs elegantly. "Ya gotta admit I can pull off a pretty good human woman impression, heh heh, well... in my digimon form anyway" he said.
"Bells. Stop" said Luke pleadingly. Bellamy was then placated somewhat when his edits were appreciated. He grinned and gave a few bows. Then, soon, the time came for them to pack things up. But Mitsuko volunteered.
"Okay. Thanks heaps, Mitsuko" Luke said. "Also, just so you know, we're thinking of hiring an airship mercenary later on" he winked. "So, if you wanna come fly with us on a flying cruise in the digital world, feel free to come with us"
"Ooh, yeah, you guys could do a live concert up in the sky!" Bellamy added, sighing wistfully. "Heh, I should bring Coronamon along, he'd hopefully enjoy that".
"Hmm. Yeah, that's definitely on the cards" Colin agreed. And so he picked up his bag, ready to walk home in time for dinner. They should make it on time after all.
"Heh, my pleasure. I'll see you around" Luke promised. Maybe together they could start a career of this?
"See ya later, Mitsuko! Bye Patamon!" Colin called as he left the room. His partners did the same, walking at his side as the three left the building.
What an excellent experience that was!
