Epiphany Of The Two Devoted [Owen/Closed]

It all seemed harmless...It had been over two months since Cion and her brother Owen had last seen the farming village known as 'Eirene'. The only reason they had been there was to deliver the farmers supplies so they could endure the blizzard that wrecked havoc upon the digital world. It had been quite a strenuous journey that was for sure, but the sense of pride, appreciation and hospitality they were rewarded with had been worth all of that. Little did they know back then that they would return to such a peaceful place again to assist the villagers with another problem. And strange circumstances it were indeed that gave them reason to return. Termnus City's mission board had mostly been empty, but there was one request that seemed to be meant for the two of them. According to it's content, it was written by Lyra the Bucchiemon, the proprietess of the village's inn who once provided them with shelter and food, and she requested assistance with a ruffian that afflicted the city. In that writing, she also stated that she'd prefer the help of those that had once helped them through the snowstorm-crisis, since she knew of their dependency. "Strange that she forgot our names. I mean, she could have personally contacted us for our assistance, not? One of Eirene's villagers should have remembered our names after all... don't you think?" Cion made her concerns known to Owen. Not that both of them were not eager to help, but the way everything came to be seemed a little suspicious. Of course the two of them had mostly been mercenaries for Terminus City's mission board thus far, so one or the other unusual task had been part of their daily routine, but the way Lyra tried to vaguely contact them in such an indirect way left her worried. Perhabs it was just coincidence, perhabs all villagers had really just forgotten their names, but... that was hard for the Arnamon to believe. Besides, it was too late already, as they already reached the stone bridge that would allow them to cross the river and enter the farming village. Perhabs they should have requested more assistance, but regretting their choice to rely on their own was simply pointless now. Whatever would await them, together there was nothing the two, soon to be champions could not achieve. She trusted Owen to be by her side, and she was confident he knew her by his side as well. And as the Arnamon took her first step on the old brige, she could not help herself but compare what she experienced with the events of months ago. The only thing that seemed to be left from the blizzard was the grey tone to the environment, making everything appear medieval and long standing. Not even the faint orange light of the late afternoon sky could bring much color to the ambiance. Still, despite it being coolish in these first days of spring, the flora and fauna were alive and prospering, if tranquil in the gentle wind. It was nothing their fur was incapeable of protecting them from, in fact it felt very pleasant. To Cion, it was simply beautiful, and it made her daydream about their eventual pension already, despite that still being a couple of centuries away from them. Heck, they were not even one year old at this point. "So... we're here..." She spoke quietly as she gazed towards the city center on the other side of the bridge. Suffice to say the lack of people and sounds coming from made her dread the worst. She sincerely hoped everything was okay, and that the entity that had importuned them had left. "Should we... head to the inn? I mean... Lyra should be there, not?" Cion asked her big, strong brother with much uncertainty to her voice. Deep within her core, she had a feeling that they would not meet her there... or anyone else for that matter.

Owen was delighted to be reunited with his sister. While they had gone their separate ways for a little while to learn about their new lives in the digital world and meet new friends, they could always rely on a heartwarming reunion when they saw each other again.
As the Gaomon saw the Arnamon once more after meeting so many new people, he felt like he had finally found what the meaning of a 'family' was. Whenever Owen had met a new person, he would be unsure of what awaited him, whether they would be friend or foe. To his luck, they had invariably been friends. However, when he met Cion once more, he would instantly identify her as 'friend'. As someone he would never question or hurt, whom he would always help and could rely on help in return. This was his sister.
And it seemed that Cion had a message that was of interest to the both of them. From Lyra the Bucchiemon, who had generously lodged them in the blizzards of winter.
As Cion remarked that Lyra seemed to have forgotten their names, Owen wondered why that was. "Well, some digimon I've met say that the concept of names is a bit lost on them" he said. "They prefer to just go by their species names. Although Lyra has a name herself, so, surely she'd understand. Maybe she meets so many digimon that she forgot?" he hypothesized.
Although he noticed Cion seemed worried. As they crossed the bridge, Owen began to feel a bit wary of what might be ahead for them. "This letter..." he spoke quietly. "Do you think that it's something that Lyra would likely have said?" he asked, wondering if his sister was thinking things were not as they seemed.
As they entered the village, Owen smiled as he looked around. It looked much nicer without everything dusted with snow. And it was here that he learned the truth of things - that he and Cion were bonded to become true family.
He nodded at the Arnamon's suggestion. "Yeah, that seems like a good place to start" he said, walking by her side into town.

Of course Cion was delighted to be reunited with his brother again as well. Their purposeful seperation for an unspecific amount of time was used by both of them to make new friends and experience more of the digital world without the other. While the Arnamon had not been too fond of this idea, she understood the value of it and obliged, especially after the emotionally strenuous night in Lyra's inn in Eirene.
And due to the experiences they made, their reunion was filled with the mutual understanding of family and what their bond meant to them. She had never been really unsure when she had met a stranger, who had always turned out to be a pleasant companion. And while she held her friendships dear, it was nothing compared to the affection she felt towards her Gaomon brother. The Arnamon was still uncertain about what Owen felt for her in the grand scheme of things, but their faithfulness to each other was without question. After all, he was her brother, her family, and they were happy when together.
But the great foundation to build upon their realationship had to be put aside for a while, since they were soon to be part of a mission that would truly test their bond. And the contents of the letter's info they received were truly suspicious indeed. Owen hypothesized that Lyra the Bucchiemon likely met so many people that she had simply forgotten their names, and while it was not a too far-fetched argument it did not ease her spirit. "How many strangers do you think visit a remote farming village like Eirene? I say not many." She experessed her uncertainty before sighing. "Well... there's only one way to find out."
As they crossed the bridge and marched towards the village's center, dread further crept under her skin as the absolute silence and lack of life persisted. She knew in her core that something was seriously wrong, but it was impossible for her to tell what it was. Were the villagers gone, had they left or... worse? But why then would Lyra request their appearance and assistance? Or... was it for the very reason they currently experienced? "I don't know, Owen..." Cion unconfidently responded to his difficult question. "I mean, she and some others around here are champions. From what they know about us, we're just rookies that do courier services. What ruffian would she task us to deal with which they can't deal with themselves as champions, even if they are not fighters? It's so... bizarre." She explained her point of view, easily identifying flaws in the reasoning behind whoever had written the quest-letter.
And as they walked towards the inn at the village's center, the Arnamon often tried to look through the windows of the houses they past by for a sign of life or light. And every time she did so, she found nothing but emptiness. Even with Owen by her side, in the very place they found out about the truth of their bond, she felt trepidation to her very code-structure. If she did not know better, she'd believe Eirene had been abandoned decades ago.
The inn was dark from within as well, but Cion mustered all her courage and attempted to open the wooden door regardless. However, no matter how much she pulled and pushed, it would not budge. "Locked... what the dark area..." The Arnamon spoke quietly, turning around to face Owen with an expression of perturbation. "The inn is closed and apparently empty. So... what now?" She asked the Gaomon, having no idea left about what to do.
That was until her eyes widened and her ears errected, stepping next to her brother to behold a figure all too familiar to them. "L-Lyra..." Cion spoke, beholding the Bucchiemon who stood so tense in the middle of the city's center and looked at them with infinite sorrow in her eyes. "I'm so sorry..." Lyra spoke under her breath, just loud enough for them to hear. "I told him about you, and he kept asking for you. He threatened all of us. We're no fighters, we stood no chance. He demanded us to comply or else... I had hoped the letter would alert you and you would not come alone..."
"Enough!" A deep, grave voice echoed through the streets of the city. Cion, fearing that they had run into a trap, nervously looked around for the origin of the voice, only to yet again find nothing. Suddenly, a wall of fire burst in front of the Bucchiemon, leaving her screaming in terror. And as it subsided again, the one behind everything, someone Cion and Owen knew all too well, finally stepped out of his fire and revealed himself. "Y-you..." The Arnamon spoke with both wrath and disquietude in her voice.
"Your part ends here. Take your leave." The fiend threatened the fortunately unharmed Bucchiemon. It was after a brief, tearful glance at the two rookies that she ran away, disappearing in an alley. He whom they felt personal animosity towards turned to face them, and his impetus was all to clear to them.

Cion seemed doubtful about Owen's hypothesis, correctly pointing out that she would have easily remembered their names due to the lack of visitors to it, and considering that they had been there for a few days to help them out. That and it wasn't like their names were terribly complex. "Hmm, that's a bit concerning" he said in the end. He agreed that the only way to find out was to see for themselves. But Owen would do so with caution.
The Gaomon was dressed in his usual outfit - wearing his red bandana, boxing gloves, and wore a small backpack with some travelling supplies. Little else was needed for now, he hoped.
As they crossed the bridge, they were greeted by silence. Owen didn't like it - normally a farming village in Spring would be lively and bustling as the digimon got back to work now that the snow was gone. But this feeling of dread was shared with his sister.
Cion's point made the Gaomon even more nervous, although he tried to hide it. That they would be tasked with dealing with something the Champion levels of this village couldn't deal with themselves. It made little sense.
But it seemed they could do little about it other than be wary. He saw nobody in the buildings, and the inn was locked and empty. "Somehow I don't think Lyra wrote that letter now" Owen said, unable to keep the nervousness out of his voice.
Then Lyra did appear. Owen gasped and awaited her explanation. She apologized as she seemed to write it under duress, but hoped that they wouldn't come alone. Owen bit his lip. They should have brought their friends along. Colin, Luke and Bellamy could evolve to Perfect level after all, they would've handled this easily, but, Owen couldn't find them when he heard about the letter.
Then it was revealed exactly who had set the trap. A wall of fire burst forth. Owen yelped, but thankfully Lyra was unharmed. She was sent off, and the figure stood in front of them. There he was. Shadramon.
"Jesmon Christ Mode..." Owen swore under his breath.
"Yes. It's me" Shadramon said, seething with rage as he regarded the two rookie levels. "Do you have any idea how humiliating it was to be beaten by a pair of rookie levels?"
"Y-you deserved it!" Owen snapped, although he was trembling as he said it. "We beat you before, Shadramon, and we'll beat you again! How dare you threaten this village! The digimon here are too good for that!" his voice got steadily more confident at every word.
"No you won't" Shadramon said. His wings began to beat, and the fire elemental digimon took to the air. "You're going to burn and die. And when your data's mine, maybe the world will be rid of your lousy sugary presence!"
Threatening them with absorption now? Owen was too scared to say more, but, he managed to look at the digimon defiantly. Well then. We'll see about that, he thought.
"Flash Buster!" Shadramon snarled suddenly, sending forth fireballs down at them. Owen gasped and dodged, helping Cion out of the way too. The balls exploded on the ground with eruptions of heat.
What could they do? Owen thought furiously, hoping to come up with a plan. But if Cion had one, he'd be just as fine with that.

'Concerning' was one understated way of putting it, as Cion was truly worried at this point. The letter that did not make sense upon second glance, the complete silence and lack of life within the city, and the fact that Lyra's inn was closed left were with a feeling of dread. She was not afraid for herself and Owen yet, but for the people of Eirene. What could have happened that caused such an enigma, and what could they possibly do to solve it? Owen was right, as the Arnamon started to doubt Lyra the Bucchiemon being the true originator of the letter as well. And the truth behind it would reveal itself to be true terror. "Shadramon...?" She cursed quietly, beholding the figure she and the Gaomon solely knew as a fiend. It was in this exact moment that the Arnamon understood everything; understood that by mere coincidence Shadramon found out about the villagers amity to them and abused them for its own desire for revenge. "It wasn't just us, it was also those we protected who fought alongside us. You humiliated yourself by picking on them!" She yelled back at him as the sudden realization struck her that they were now alone against him. Owen was right, the villagers of Eirene were too good to be tormented by such a vile creature. And while she admired her brother's bravado, she comprehended that they were in a serious disadvantage this time. Not only did they not have any assistance, but they also did not know how much their adversary had improved in power. Unfortunately, they had not digivolved to the champion level yet, you thankfully Shadramon had not ascended to the ultimate level either. The odds were clearly stacked against them, but they had to fight regardless. For the innocent villagers of this small town and for the safety of her brother she'd fight to the better end. "Once you were a bully, but now you are completly frenzied! Get back to your senses!" Cion berated the hostile digimon as he took to the air, doubting that it would work. And it had indeed been in vain, as he did not hesitate to bombard them with fiery artillery. She gasped when Owen grabbed her and pushed her to the side, saving her from harm as explosions of heat errupted behind them. Getting back on her feet, she noted that Lyra's inn was not struck by the attack, and turned to Owen with a dolorous expression. "Thank you."They... they had to get ouf of here...After a brief moment of respite, Cion's expression changed to that of enraged determination, nodding to her big brother as she had come up with a plan. "Follow me!" She shouted just as she turned around to face Shadramon who soared above them. Stretching her right arm forward, she cramped her paw as it got engulfed in a flash of light. "Translucent Cage!" The Arnamon bellowed, the same flash reappearing around Shadramon's head to briefly bedazzle him. This attack was not meant for that purpose, it was only a weak form of it and its main purpose could not affect their adversary of a higher level, but perhabs it could buy them a few seconds of time. Her hand still glowing from the attack, she pulled Owen by the arm and hastily ran through the streets of the city though not whence they came. Just a second after she had done so, she drew her bow and spun once, firing an arrow of spirit energy conjured by the remaining power from her prior attack at the fiend's knee. While it would not hurt it much, it'd irritate it and put her one step closer to unleash her 'Crystal Arrow'-technique. They took a much shorter path that led them to an untreated field on which the brown earth was still dry and solid from the winter. If nothing else, they would protect Eirene and its inhabitants from harm. But just as they had entered the barren field, a wall of fire errupted in front of them, forcing them to halt until it ceased. And as it faded away, hovering slightly over the ground with a mime of vendetta was their enemy Shadramon, cutting them off and ready for a fight it was confident it could not lose. "Running is futile..." He spoke with a voice of utter malice. With her bow in her hands, she stood alongside her brave brother and took in a deep breath. No... they could not lose, not after everything they had done. It was painful to see that after so many centuries, there were still entities like Shadramon who sought nothing but to hurt others. But theirs efforts were not in vain and they never would be. It was their destiny they had choosen to fulfill together, to fight for peace and justice against chaos and tyranny. "Owen!" She yelled as she aimed her bow at the monstrous digimon, making clear he'd stand by his side no matter what. |

Shadramon chuckled as Cion spoke her words and seemed to immediately realize just what was going on here. "Yes, that's right. But they're not here now, are they?" he asked, smirking. "And I wouldn't rely on these villagers to save you. I told them if they intervened, I'd burn everything to the ground!"
Owen stared. How could someone be so evil and cruel? He glared, feeling angrier than he had felt so far. A low, menacing growl rumbled from his throat.
"Let me guess, you're going to burn everything anyway?" he asked, internally just wishing for an excuse to go all-out on this monster.
"And go back on my word? Please. I have my standards, boy" Shadramon scoffed. "However, if you were say, standing in front of a house while I attacked, and you dodged, well, I think I'll mark something like that down as an accident".
Shadramon was clearly enjoying the advantage he had here. As a flying fire elemental Armor level against two beast digimon, this would simply be the sweetest victory.
After the two digimon dodged his attack, Owen's attention was drawn to Cion, who said to follow her. Immediately he did as he was told, running behind her, looking back over his shoulder at the advancing Shadramon.
His attention focused on the Gaomon, Shadramon was startled by the Transclucent cage, momentarily impeded. Owen followed his sister out of the village, finding a patch of brown Earth where they could settle their dispute without endangering the buildings here. Then all at once, Owen realized just how outmatched they were. A huge burst of fire halted them. And Shadramon hovered behind them, ready to strike.
Well then. If this would be their last stand, then Owen would make it one to remember. As Cion readied her crystal bow, Owen raised his fists. He would go down fighting.
At once, Owen issued a short, sharp bark up at Shadramon, a distortion of the air shooting up at his face. Owen's Wild Echo attack. While not very obvious, it was a breath attack infused with wind element that was just as strong as any other projectile rookie attack. But more importantly, he hoped that Cion would use it as an opening.
However, Shadramon countered by flying straight at Owen, fists blazing. It was too fast for him to dodge, and the Gaomon was sent flying. He yelped in pain, his fur singed as he landed in a heap on the ground. But in this melee attack, Shadramon had left himself exposed to a counter-attack.

Cion's heart could hardly bear what she was hearing, and it fueled her contempt for the Shadramon even more. How could someone possibly be so maleficent that he'd threaten an entire village just to get payback on two creatures that were actually below his might? Collateral damage meant nothing to the digimon of the armor-level, not caring for anything but himself and destroying everything that got in his way. And the worst things about all of this was that he was... relishing it. No, she would never stand for this. She would try everything to vanquish this menace and protect the civilians of Eirene.
Standing on the untreated field with her bow aimed at Shadramon, Cion beheld his brother raising his fits, clearly ready to fight just like her. Together, they would pull through this peril no matter what pain they had to endure. It was the destiny they had chosen lives ago to be together and to let good prevail over evil. They had fought thousands of battles, and this would not be their last. The Arnamon would stand by the Gaomon's side, and together they would surpass themselves and their adversary.
With Owen trying to distract Shadramon, Cion maneuvered around the fiend to get a proper aim at him. Taking a couple of steps backwards when the pillars of fire ceased, she saw to her shock how their enemy hit her brother with a blazing punch, sending him flying. "Owen!" She yelped. Briefly raising her right arm, an aura of light with a faint green tint to it engulfed her right hand and then briefly flared up around the injured Gaomon. "Bracing Respite." The Arnamon whispered, hoping that the relatively weak yet efficient heal would help the Gaomon get back on his feet.
With the excess energy at hand, she conjured another spirit arrow and fired it at a spot of Shadramon's back that connected his left wing with the rest of his body. Just like the first immaterial arrow in his right knee, it was meant to impair the fiends movement. It was the only way she could contribute to the fight... for now that was. "Two..." She spoke under her breath, knowing that just one more would give them a better chance to surpass their enemy.
All Cion could hope now was that her brother Owen knew what he was doing.

Owen groaned and sighed with relief as Cion's technique healed him from the worst of the blow. He quickly returned to his feet, still aching a little with pain, but the burns and wounds were healed. Meanwhile, Shadramon growled and noticed the arrow in his knee.
A second arrow pinned one of his wings to his body, but the rest were still capable of movement. He noted the strategy though. He would soon put an end to it.
"What's with those looks of disgust, eh?" Shadramon asked, his voice oily and mean. "That's simply the nature of digimon. Fight, consume, grow stronger and evolve. What, do you think you two are better than normal digimon?"
"No, we're just not monsters like you!" Owen spat. But Shadramon only laughed.
"Oh really?!" he asked. "So, Gaomon, you claim to not be a Digital Monster then?"
"That's NOT what I mean!" Owen shouted. He was much braver now that he knew he had Cion backing him up with healing. "We respect other living things and their right to live in peace! That's what makes us digimon and you... just a monster".
Shadramon was silent for a moment, then raised his claws, glowing with fire.
"Flare Buster" was his only reply. And a wall of fire rapidly approached Owen and Cion. Owen gasped. This was not something he could dodge easily. The fire was searingly hot. Shadramon was putting all of his energy into this attack it seemed.

Of course Cion felt immeasurable relief when she saw Owen back on his feet after Shadramon's powerful punch, her ability to heal him having contributed to this outcome. Unfortunately, it seemed their enemy had realized too soon the plan the Arnamon was pursueing, though he seemed to occupied with gloating to really care. And it was this hubris they had to use against him to emerge victorious in this conflict of attrition. Every second this encounter lasted brought them closer to victory, so they had to endure and manipulate their enemy into playing against himself. Pure force would not let them vanquish him this time.
"We are equal to normal digimon." Cion somewhat calmly defended herself when her brother rightfully called Shadramon out for being a monster. "But every normal digimon is above you, a beast blinded by what he falsely claims to be the 'nature of digimons'. Look around you, flourishing civilization everywhere, natural for us normal digimons. All with purpose, unlike you nor your empty words." She supported her brother in vicuperating Shadramon in the weak hope it might break him out of his frenzy and fathom reason. To her dismay... it did not.
Shadramon did not heed her rebuttal nor her brother's compassion and proceeded with his attack. Both of them next to each other, they beheld with terror in their eyes the wall of fire that quickly approached them, threatening them with incineration. Already from afar, Cion could feel the painful heat gnawing at her, and she did not know how to dodge it as it was simply too big. It seemed their enemy had put a lot of energy in this attack that was meant to be the finale to this conflict. She... she could not counter such a force with her weak healing...
The Arnamon stood in front of the Gaomon as she turned around, her body close to being consumed by the wall of fire. Time seemed to almost stop as her sorrowful gaze met his, and it was clear he shared her exasperation. They could not win this battle alone, they were just outmatched. Everything they had accomplished, every moment of joy they had experienced in this life and those of the past... how could it all end here? "Owen...?" Cion whispered. She saw her lives flashing in front of her eyes, every sensation she had ever felt surging up within her; the pain as much as the bliss. No... it just couldn't end here.
"I won't let you hurt my family!" She suddenly bellowed with a grave expression, her green scarf glowing in a bright light as the wall of fire consumed her. But just as it was about to engulf Owen as well, it curved around the both of them, streams of fire and hot sparks whizing past them as a spirit arrow penetrated the wall and lodged into Shadramon's right arm. And the reason the attack did not affect Owen was Cion herself, though her form was no longer recognizeable. Where once stood a small figure aspiring to be a guardian, there the true sentinel was she wished to be.
She had digivolved into a much larger, much more pronounced form, and the prismatic shield she had conjured in front of her was what protected them from the wall of fire. Eventually, it dissipated just like the shield, the Sagitamon falling on her knees, overwhelmed by the newly found power that had altered her being. She would need a couple of seconds to recover from the strenuous act she had just undergone.

Owen really couldn't have put it better than his sister. But there was a saying that went something like "Words are wind". Yes, words could be powerful, but, only if it was a verbal combat. This was a real combat, and it seemed that they were simply outmatched here. In their last battle, a group of Rookies had overcome this monster. Owen had taken the brunt of the battle, but thanks to Cion's healing, had managed to get him to flee through dogged determination. Now it seemed that Shadramon was simply determined to end them. Pride seemed to be his momentum. However, as the wall of fire came toward him, his sister's words turned in his head. There was really more to digimon than Shadramon had said. They were capable of making something better than life alone. Civilization. A network of friendships. And further to that, Owen did not want to die here. No. He saw a future for his family. One where they worked together to make the digital world a better place. Then Owen's yellow eyes widened as Cion stood in front of him. No! That wasn't something she was meant to do! If Cion got killed, then they would be simply ended here. The sheer moment of crisis stirred something deep within his digicore. Owen's body began to glow white. His red bandana surged with energy. At once, he felt a rush of power. Something like adrenaline, but one where he felt simply more and more powerful. His body began to grow, so much so that he felt compelled to lean forward on his front legs. Claws burst through his boxing gloves. His bandana changed place as well, moving from his head to his neck, becoming a massive red scarf. It was then that he realized - Owen was digivolving. And the fire never hit. He saw at once that Cion had evolved too. Proud, Owen gave a tooth-filled grin toward Shadramon, who was clearly expecting his attack to hit, but, his eyes widened with horror as he saw the opposition in front of him. Cion's shield was still glowing, but dissipated. But Owen felt ready. He padded forward, his eyes narrowed like that of a hunter. Owen the Gaogamon would come out of this fight alive. And he would make sure Cion would too. "Spiral Blow!" he roared, and at once, a tornado of wind burst from his mouth. Shadramon tried to avoid it, but, his wings would no longer work properly. Pinned down by arrows, the attack had him whipped from his feet, knocked around, before he fell hard on the ground. "...this can't be happening!" he exclaimed. His nemeses were not meant to evolve like this! He couldn't fight two champion levels! He had to get away! |

The freshly digivolved Sagitamon could barely turn her head as she rested on her knee before a violent torrent of wind power dashed past her. Astonished by such power, Cion beheld how it impacted with the incapacitated Shadramon, ripping it off the ground and knocking it around like dust struggling against cosmic winds. Hastily, she turned around to behold the new form of her close friend, only to realize she had changed drastically as well. "We digivolved..." She uttered under her breath, unsure how she was supposed to feel, though fortunate was most certainly the crux.
But this was not the time to lack in concentration as they still had a fiendish adversary to overcome. Gracefully leaping back on her feet, she drew her bow and counted the spirit arrows that were still lodged into Shadramon's body. 1... 2... 3... perfect. "Oh this is happening, Shadramon! Prepare yourself, fiend!" She bellowed with yet unseen valiantness, ready to put him where he belonged. Auras of light formed around her paws, the spirit arrows and her improved bow, holy forced sparking violently like a thunderstorm. "Crystal Arrow Storm!"
Pulling and then letting go off her bow's string, a massive arrow of crystalline energy the length of her beloved Gaogamon himself formed itself and careened towards the Shadramon. The forces behind that attack were intense, winds shaking even afar trees while the ground could be felt tremble. Just a mere moment later, the arrow shattered into innumerable shards, all of them dashing around their opponent like he was the center of a hurricane. Shadramon would barely have any time to react before they lodged into his body, combining to form a prismatic web that squeezed every part of his body, rendering him utterly unmovable.
As the spirit arrows faded, Cion took in a deep breath to see the result of the spectacle she had unleashed upon him. "And there is more where that did came from, so give up." She warned him, knowing that the web would fade in only a couple of seconds. Hopefully, this taster was enough for this glutton for power to admit defeat.

Yes... they had digivolved. Owen's breath rose like a mist in wonder at how exactly this had happened. And the implications in his mind zipped around. Gosh! They would be able to achieve so much more together with their new power. And one of them? Clearly getting this bastard out of the village that had taken them in during those hard winter months.
As Owen recovered from his attack, Cion then took the initiative, following up her previous arrow attacks. He looked with amazement as her light bow seemingly blazed with power as she followed up with her next attack. And when she released them, Shadramon was immediately caught in a web of light energy, snaring him, rendering him vulnerable to any of their next moves.
Then Cion urged Shadramon to give up. The armor level insect digimon glared at her. "Give up?" he repeated. "And how will I live with myself then, eh?"
"Just be a good digimon!" Owen pleaded, frowning with urgency. "Respect everyone else's right to live! Don't try and absorb everyone else! Please! Just live and let live?"
"My answer to that?" Shadramon asked, shaking his head. "No. I'll still make you both pay for this!" at once he burst with fire. A flaming aura surrounded his body. "Indent Screw!" at once, Shadramon began to spin, hurling himself toward Owen and Cion, a flaming drill forming from his body. Owen gasped. He was hurling himself at full force at them now. It would take combined attacks to stop him.
At once, Owen countered with another Spiral Blow attack, hoping the tornado would be enough to counter the enemy's move. And with that done, he hoped that Cion would be able to deliver the finishing blow.

"Hubris... Pointless waste of life." Cion quietly bemoaned, unable to fathom the vanities that made up Shadramon's very existence. His pride was more important to him than survival and content, like he was completly taken over by his dogmatic desire for survival of the fittest. It was deplorable that the insectoid digimon could not realize that the Sagitamon and the Gaogamon were much fitter than him due to their cooperation, not due to selfish drives. Such a mind was truly a dangerous and sick one, and she wondered if there was any hope of salvation for such an entity.
"Wrong..." The vulpine digimon uttered with great impatience in her voice. Seeing the benignity of her brother ignored and the effects of her prior attack fading incensed her without a doubt. Like a javelin of fire, Shadramon dashed towards them with tremendous speed, seemingly a last-ditch attempt to emerge victoriously after all. Cion was briefly startled when she saw another 'Spiral Blow'- attack having barely any effect on the spinning Shadramon by itself, though it was not a problem she did not know how to solve.
"Translucent Vortex!" The Sagitamon bellowed as she fired another spirit arrow at their adversary before dropping her bow. Her right hand cramped and aimed at Shadramon, both it and he were engulfed in a golden aura of light as a strong vortex formed itself around him. With every passing millisecond, Shadramon slowed down exponentially, even his spin steadily ceasing to be as he was caged by the forces of her attack. Forces that cause dirt and stones from the ground beneath them to float around Shadramon like they were caught in an event horizon.
However, keeping Shadramon in this stasis so close to them, fighting against the very forces it tried to utilize against the two of them, was visibly strenuous to her. If one would not know better, it was like she was trying to defy a hurricane by walking towards its center; certainly a toilsome undertaking. "Owen... FInish it!" Cion instructed her brother to end this battle against Shadramon in whatever way he saw fit, as long as he would make haste. By now... she would not even mind defragmenting Shadramon for its crimes and inherent perniciousness.

Shadramon was shocked and surprised as he slowed and finally was halted in midair by Cion's technique. What... what was this power?! Then he turned to see something truly horrifying. The Gaogamon was running straight at him, teeth bared. A melee attack! Shadramon didn't know if his delicate body could survive such a thing.
"Dash Double Claw!" Owen snarled, then pounced at Shadramon, slashing his claws in a cross shape across the halted armor insect.
Owen's claws ripped the trapped Shadramon to pieces. He disintegrated into the wind as he fell to the ground, lifeless. In his place, a digitama formed, resting on the grass.
Owen realized he had never really seen a digimon die before. He thought they would simply shatter to pieces and that would be that, leaving their data to be consumed. But this... all urges for Owen to proceed to absorb this monster vanished. He realized that it involved destroying the egg and absorbing its essence. He couldn't do that.
"I guess I can't finish him for real, Cion" Owen admitted to the Sagittamon. "But... maybe if he's raised somewhere better, he might be able to start anew?"
But where? Owen pondered this for a moment, then had an epiphany.
"The Village of Beginnings!" he said. "If we send the egg there, he can be raised in a nice place like we were!"
He hoped Cion would approve of this. Owen's mind was still racing from what had just happened. A hopeless battle, seconds from death, then he evolved and now here he was. A bigger, stronger digimon that could make the world so much better.

Cion let out a sigh of relief when the battle finally ended with them emerging victorious, though she could not help herself but stare weakly at the Gaogamon that was his dear brother Owen. Despite her thoughts, she had not actually expected him to destroy Shadramon, an act that was without a doubt severe, even if it was in self-defense. "An egg... huh." The Sagitamon spoke quietly, approaching it before kneeling in front of it. She took in a deep breath and thought about a lot for a moment before turning to Owen.
"If he forgets like we did... maybe he can have a better chance at life this time." Cion brought her hope up that the evil had vanished from Shadramon with Owen's final strike. But if her brother sought to instead consume the egg to utilize its power for good, then she would have been fine with that as well. Ultimately, he chose not to, calming down to the same unwound digimon she liked so much. "Yes... raised somewhere better. Like... here, in Eirene? They owe us I'd say, and they don't have to know its Shadramon." The vulpine digimon suggested, believing it to be a good an most of all quick solution to their problem.
The Gaogamon however made another great suggestion where Ex-Shadramon could be raised, which was the Village of Beginnings. An utopia for infants save from any harm, though not as modern and homely as Eirene in her opinion, and with a lack of role models. Both options were good choices still, enabling their former adversary a good start into its new life. She thought about it for a second, but was soon brought out of her thoughts when she heard other voices calling out for them.
Standing up with the egg in her hands, she watched Lyra and the rest of the village rushing towards them, smiles and tears gracing their face. Eventually halting in front of the two heroes, Lyra the Bucchiemon was the first to bow to them with slight shame, the rest following suit swiftly. "We are so sorry. Please forgive us. How can we atone for our cowardice?" They spoke in a cacophony of guilt, to which Cion could only chuckle with delight.
"We understand your reasons, but I am sure you also understand that something like this must never happen again. Tell you what... hire a trainer from Terminal City's military for daily exercise and fighting practice, and I'm square with you. Owen?" Cion calmly expressed her request, wondering if the Gaogamon had anything else in mind. "We promise." They vowed without hesitation, occasional glances at their newly digivolved frames filling their eyes with awe and esperance.
