Why Is It Always The Tundra (Mitsuko)

"Here? Again? Really?" The exasperation in Elliot's voice was clear and evident, broken up only by the chattering of his teeth. "When is the last time anything good has happened to us here in the tundra? We've been caught in cave-ins, attacked by terrifying monsters . . . and it's way too cold over here, to boot!" It was really clear that Elliot was a California kid with how badly he was taking this cold. "Couldn't we go anywhere else? At all?"
"We've been anywhere else, Elliot," Isaac explained. "Heck, at this point I'm pretty sure We've been everywhere else. At this point there's only one place left where our next spirits can be, and that's here." Isaac grandly gestured to the frozen wastes around them, being answered only by blinding white and howling winds. He blinked, the grin on his face slowly starting to fade. "Well, somewhere around here, at least. Our Digivices should start blinking after a while of this, right?"
"I think Gargoylemon is more than enough spirit for me, for the time being," Elliot added, looking down at his feet a bit. He blinked, and briefly he could see himself lumbering towards Asher in a furious stance. "I mean, you remember what happened the last time. I don't think I could handle taking on another spirit. What if it's even worse?"
"Okay, you really want to know why I've been trying so hard?" Isaac asked. "Because I've been hoping I could find something better for you. Maybe, just maybe, if I try hard enough we can get one that's more Strikedramon and less Gargoylemon. You'd like that, right? Being stronger, but not like . . . that? But ugh, I'm sorry. I guess I've been running you ragged, huh?"
Elliot interrupted his bro's worries with a big hug. "No. I mean, that sounds really nice. Thank you for trying so hard," he said, smiling. "I guess I should be trying more for you too, huh?"
"Psh, don't worry about it. This is for you, after all," Isaac said. " 'Sides, you're way more helpful than I am half the time. Only fair I chip in too, right?" Maybe later today, Elliot would get the chance to prove that.
With little more to do than start searching, Elliot and Isaac began wandering into the frozen wastes of the Desolate Tundra. With nothing but their own intuitions and warm jackets, who knew what they would end up finding?

A shrill squeal filled the air, as Patamon and Mitsuko flew down the sloped hill. After coming to a halt Mitsuko rolled off of the sled, giggling as Patamon landed on her giggling as well. "That was fun! Can we do it again?!" Patamon inquired "What, ten times isn't enough?" Mitsuko teased her partner, as she ruffled the fur between his wing-like ears. "Mmmm. Nope!" Last one up the hill is a rotten digi-egg!" Patamon called as he flew off of Mitsuko's chest and towards the hill.
"Hey, your flying no fair!" Mitsuko called as she grabbed the sled and ran back up the hill. "Cheater!" Mitsuko called after her partner, as she gasped for breath. Mitsuko felt the wind stir up some snow. As it swirled around her, she took her hood down, and fanned our her long silvery hair. "Its so pretty up here." Mitsuko mused "We really did need a day off." So much had been happening recently, so a day of fun was totally needed. Right? Mitsuko finally reached the top of the hill, where her partner floated. "Geeze, took you long enough" he teased, as he landed upon Mitsuko's head.
"Hey, not all of us can fly you know." Mitsuko retorted, as she poked her partner in the side, resulting in a giggle from the ticklish digimon. "Yeah, and not all Digimon have human like legs! I mean seriously, I don't think I could run very fast up a hill with these stubby things!" Patamon whined, playfully. Mitsuko just rolled her eyes, as she set the sled down and got on it, Patamon nested between her and the front of the sled. "Here we go!" Mitsuko pushed off and they were flying down the hill once again, trees rushed past them in a blur, the cool wind whipping their faces. "Uh-oh" Mitsuko said softly, as she tightened her hold upon the reigns "Patamon, hold tight, looks like we're going to hit a bump!" Patamon perked up.
"Hey, lets get some MAJOR air!" Patamon struggled out of Mitsuko's grasp and hopped over her shoulder, and as he felt the sled change direction...
"Boom Bubble!" Patamon shouted, as he released an air like bullet! And they were off, rocketing through the sky. Mitsuko shrieked, as Patamon nestled himself back into her lap. "Oh.. Bad idea...BAD IDEA!" Patamon called out, realizing what he did a little too late...
CRASH!!!
Into a snowbank the tamer, her partner, and their sled landed, all face first, struggling to get out. They had been in multiple dangerous and embarrassing situations before... but never did Mitsuko think they would end their journey like this! She should have told Alicia or Maia where she was going, just in case she didn't come back. What a stupid move! Mitsuko struggled a little bit more, if only she could reach her digivice...

There were a lot of things one could reasonably expect to find on a journey through the tundra. Ice and mountains, for example. Maybe a lake of not quite frozen water, or the tips of pines off in the distance. If another traveler was sighted, they would likely be decked out in a heavy winter jacket or swaddled up in the robes of a wanderer, shielding themselves from the cold by any means. It was a pretty normal series of sights, all things considered. Surprises were rare, because who in the world would go this far just to set up a surprise like that? For that reason, Elliot and Isaac didn't prepare themselves to see anything out of the ordinary.
A pair of legs sticking out of a snowdrift? That certainly counted!
Elliot practically dropped everything to run over to the snowbank, skidding and sliding as he fought to keep his bad leg from giving way in the snow. It was way harder when using a walking stick, which seemed intent on slipping out of the way every time he placed it on the ground, but for the sake of an innocent in need he persisted. Isaac was able to keep pace with him quite easily, being both a faster runner and the proud owner of two good legs, but even he was surprised at what kind of pace Elliot was leading off with. "Slow down! You're gonna bust your face open if you keep running like that," Isaac warned, but Elliot seemed dead set on going ahead anyway.
"They're still moving, Isaac! We can help!" Elliot protested, frantically gesturing his head towards the pair of legs. At the very least, Elliot hoped he could yank out whoever was there before they become a human popsicle. A few more precarious seconds and he had made it to the legs, letting out a sigh of relief. "Hey, don't worry! Help's here!" he called out. "I'm just gonna grab you to help get you out, okay? Please, don't worry." With that said Elliot cautiously set his walking stick down, grabbing the stranger by the ankles and trying to tug her out.
As Elliot was 95 pounds soaking wet, this was not going to be easy. Especially with such an inefficient technique. Isaac quickly headed to his side to set the record straight. "What are you doing? You've got, like, no grip that way," Isaac said. "Come on, you're smarter than that. You gotta, like, grab her by the waist for better leverage."
The words "grab her by the waist" got Elliot blushing a little, that's for sure. "T-that's a little too close, isn't it?" Elliot stammered. "I mean, she'd find that rude, wouldn't she? I'm just a stranger-"
"I'm pretty sure she'll be too thankful to be alive to be bugged by that kind of thing," Isaac pointed out. "I'll try digging around to help, but you're gonna have to pull, okay?" With that both brothers started making their way up the snowbank. Isaac took the higher position, digging around the parts that currently had the legs trapped, while Elliot grabbed around their waist.
"Okay, try and slide out, please!" Elliot said, pulling with all of his tiny strength to try and get this mysterious stranger freed.

Mitsuko could hear the muffled sounds of two people near them. She tried to yell for help, but figured it wasn't worth the effort. If she couldn't hear them, they couldn't possibly hear her---oh my! A pair of cold hands grasped her ankles and started to tug. She wasn't going to die in here! She was going to live! Patamon, maybe not so much. Could it really be considered murder if her partner was able to reconfigure himself back into a digi-egg? Mitsuko mused as she tried to maneuver her body out of the snowbank. Then came another sound of muffled instructions. Grab. Waist. Wait, they didn't mean her---OH DIGI-GODS! Cold hands touched a brief spot of bare skin. She didn't need to be told to try to slide out, she basically jumped through the snowbank from the cold fingers!
"AIEEEE!" Mitsuko screeched as she tumbled out of the snowbank, and onto her poor savior. A shower of snow and silver hair collided against the slightly squishy ground... Wait... Frozen Tundras aren't usually squishy... Mitsuko pulled away slightly, and stared into the face of a younger guy. A few moments passed, she felt her heart thudding against her chest loudly. He was the one who grabbed her ankles?! Mitsuko felt herself blush. He was the one who pulled her out of that snowdrift by pulling on her hips?! Mitsuko blushed some more. Quickly, she looked down, and noted her chest pressed firmly against the young man. That was it. Blush meter maxed out! "I-I-I..." Mitsuko stumbled around the words, as she scrambled to stand up "I'm so-so-sorry!" Perhaps he would write it off as being cold, she hoped. Now dying in that snow drift didn't seem like a bad idea... wait a second...
"Oh no... PATAMON!" Mitsuko yelled as she basically dove back into the snowbank. She dug around, and eventually found a patch of tan fur. "Patamon! Are you okay?" Mitsuko lifted her partner to her face. Slowly he opened his eyes. "Five more minutes." He whines, as he rubbed his eyes. "Oh... Never mind." He said, as a yawn escaped him. "What happened?"
"You're what happened. That Boom Bubble, caused us to Boom into this snowbank!" Mitsuko scolded. She couldn't be too angry, I mean, after all he didn't mean to do it. And he didn't know about her less than respectful rescue. Perhaps in time, this would make an entertaining story... but for now, it was too embarrassing! The silverette shook her head, and placed her partner on top of her head. It was now time to deal with the awkwardness. "Thank you... for saving us." Mitsuko smiled, and gave a slight bow of her head. "I'm Mitsuko. Mitsuko Kaioh."

A shock launched up Elliot's hand as he grazed a spot of bare skin. Wait, bare skin? Why? Who the heck had exposed skin in the cold like this? Elliot needed a hand free for sturdily grasping his walking stick, true, but the rest of him was practically an airtight seal of jackets. Nevertheless, if he was feeling the chill from that, the person he was trying to rescue seemed to feel it even worse. She practically rocketed out of the snowdrift, careening into him in a confused tangle of flailing limbs. To say Elliot went down was an understatement. He was far smaller and lighter than the girl he was aiding, and his bad leg was no match for the force she rocketed out with. He cringed, part from the screech and part from the force of impact, as he slowly went down.
He landed with a heavy thud as his back hit the floor, then a soft squish as something else hit his face. His eyes opened up slightly, only to widen with shock and understanding as he realized just what was going on. By the time the girl pulled up slightly to look at him, he was already a blushing mess. He turned slightly to try and hide his face, raising a shoulder to try and tuck himself away since his arms were currently pinned to his side. "Oh god, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he stammered, repeating himself like a record that had currently lost its place. It was so inappropriate of him to contact her like that! Sure, she was the one to launch herself into his face chest-first, but he should've somehow done something about that!
Isaac was busy howling like a hyena, not making Elliot's blush any better. "Oh my god, did that seriously happen," he gasped between laughs, trying not to double over. "Shame on you, Elliot! I thought I taught you better than-" he added. Each word in that sentence had slowly devolved into more laughter, until by the end of it Isaac was barely coherent. "I'm sorry, I can't even say that with a straight face. You okay over there?"
It seemed she was okay enough to get right back to searching, immediately diving after what Isaac presumed to be her partner. "Yeah, she's okay," he commented, nodding a bit. "How about you, bro?"
"Why me?"
"Well, at least you're alive enough to complain about it, eh?" Isaac said, walking over to help his brother up. The two turned to face Mitsuko afterwards, Elliot bashfully staring a hole through the ground and Isaac trying to restrain his snickering. "Anyway, I'm Isaac. And this mess over here's my little brother, Elliot."
"Hi," Elliot mumbled, smiling as he tried to make what could only be described as half-eye-contact. "It's nice to meet you."

Mitsuko could feel the blood rushing to her face. She could feel her heartbeat throbbing in her ears. Isaac's laughter seemed to echo endlessly in her head. How could something like this happen?! Now she really wanted to die in the snowdrift. The musician had a hard time trying to maintain eye contact with Isaac, let alone Elliot. Mitsuko wondered how to respond to Isaac Nice to meet you? Nope. Elliot just said that. Its an honor? No. Honor totally escaped when she just... No don't even think about it! A pleasure? No. Not pleasure. Definitely not that word! Mitsuko, fearing the boys would think she was brain damaged, attempted a small smile. "I am glad to meet you as well." The silverette said softly.
"What are you guys doing out ---" Before she could ask her question, Patamon yawned upon her head eyeing Elliot carefully "So, what happened? Why are you asking why you? And why is nobody looking at each other?!" Mitsuko felt the blood rush again, her rosy face turning a deeper red. "Nothing. Never mind." Mitsuko squeaked her voice rising several octaves, as she crossed her arms around her chest. Patamon rolls his eyes, "Yeah, that's what you say. But apparently something happened!"
Mitsuko's hand unconsciously clenches and un-clenches. She wondered how fast she could grab her partner before he decides to... Patamon then decides to launch himself into the air, and hover right in-front of Elliot. "Hi, I'm Patamon. What did you do to my tamer? You must have done something. You can both barely look at each other." If Mitsuko wasn't so embarrassed, she would have snatched her partner from the air, and run for her life. Boy, did the Digi-gods have a sick sense of humor at times.

Elliot was perfectly content to remain in this nice, safe state of awkward silence, but it seemed like Mitsuko's partner wasn't going to let that happen. Immediately he flew in front of Elliot's face, sending the poor kid stumbling back a little from the shock of it all. "I-I didn't!" Elliot stammered, finding himself wilting under the face of Patamon's accusations. "I-I mean, I did, but I just tried to pull her out of the snow. I didn't mean for all the slipping and the falling and all that stuff, I promise!"
Before Patamon could even show he was convinced, Elliot just kept on stuttering out more responses. "I mean, I'm sure she's not hurt or anything like that. I'm really tiny and fragile, so it's not like she could've gotten injured falling on me, right?" Elliot paused, realizing that in his embarrassment he had forgotten to ask. "You're not hurt, are you? Oh, I'm sorry! It's my fault for being kinda bony, I guess . . ." Elliot's voice trailed off somewhat, the embarrassment of the situation now working its way inwards into his head. Why did this have to happen? Why to him?
Thankfully, Isaac had actual situational awareness, and realized what Mitsuko was trying to say before Patamon cut them off. "Well, I was trying to look for the next level of spirits for me and my brother, but then we noticed you in trouble," he said, setting the scene for how this unexpected encounter formed up. "I'm just glad we managed to get there in time. The cold's bad enough, but when you add in pressure like that it's a really awful situation to be in.
How about you? Don't usually see people this far up in the tundra for leisure." At the very least, Isaac only associated this place with serious business, while Elliot only associated it with tons of bad stuff happening. Generally if after entertainment they kept to areas closer to Snowflake Village, favoring the gentler hills and less intense winds of more habitable area.
Then again, what fun was there sticking to society? Half the point of the Digital World was stretching your wings and soaring.

Slipping? Falling? Stuff? Patamon's eyes blink in pure innocence. "No you didn't hurt me, really I'm fin---" Patamon then decides to cut in. "I still think you did something to my partner. Your bone better not of hurt her! Did he bone you hard Suki-chan?!" Mitsuko's eyes widened at the comment. If Mitsuko was embarrassed before, she vaulted way over that line and into the territory of mortified. "I... he... we... NO WE DID NOT!" The silverette seemed to unfreeze and regain her reflexes, before she knew what she was doing she snatches up her partner and squeezes him tightly, before shaking him like an Etch-A-Sketch.
"Where do you learn these things?!" Shake. Shake. Shake. "What kind of a comment is that?!" Shake. Shake. Shake. "I swear I am gonna shake the data out of you until you revert to your egg form!" Shake. Shake. Shake. Normally, Mitsuko isn't the violent type. At Isaac's comment, Mitsuko finally remembers there are other people there. Watching her. Quickly she stops shaking her partner, and drops him into the snow, where he lands with a soft thud. His eyes spinning around. "Someone, please make the ground stop moving... ughhh."
"Oh, I'm sorry. I am so sorry! I normally don't... I am not the aggressive type... Yes, thank you for saving us again." Mitsuko mumbles, as her blood red face, turns back to a rosy hue. "We were just out enjoying the snow, sledding. Then..." Mitsuko's teeth grit together "My partner..." so much venom in those two words. "Decides he wanted more of a challenge. I gave in, because well..." Mitsuko sighs. "As much as I hate to admit it, I love the little guy. Hard to say no at times. I just didn't know his request would make me a member of the Japanese Bob Sledding team for the Digi-Olympics!"
With another sigh the musician picks up her partner and brushes him off. "I would ask where you learned such... language from... But I have a feeling I already know." with a shake of her head the silverette then makes the mother of all threats "TV and Pumpkin Seeds are going to be a VERY dim memory for you Mister." Thats it. Patamon snaps out of his confused state "Hey, not fair! But I didn't do anything wrong!" he whines, as he looked at the two other humans, with big ol' pleading puppy dogmon eyes "Come on, back a mon up! Please!"

Elliot blinked, very confused. "That's a noun, not a verb-" he started, trying to figure out what the heck was even going on here.
Isaac stared in wide-eyed silence as invisible glass shattered around him. He could barely process what Patamon had just said, but he knew it pissed him off. He blinked a few times, each blink alternating between seeing pure red and seeing the rest of the tundra around him. He gave himself a little pinch to see if he was just hallucinating from the cold and the stress, but nope. This was all real, including what he had just heard.
That winged rat was going to die.
Or, at least, it would've if Mitsuko didn't beat Isaac to it. A still-confused looking Elliot was left watching as Mitsuko snatched the Patamon up and started strangling the life out of it. It was impressive she knew where to grab, considering the thing didn't even seem to have a proper neck, but a little bit less impressive considering she was threatening to strangle it until it regressed back into an egg. Was that murder? Yes, yes, it probably was! Elliot took a few concerned steps back, as if afraid he'd be next.
Thankfully, Mitsuko seemed to recover quickly. It was like night and day, her mood immediately changing from murderous rage to apologies once she noticed that she was being watched. At least that meant Elliot wouldn't be next! "It's okay," Elliot said sheepishly, trying to make sure he wouldn't end up saying the wrong thing and getting choked out by accident. "Is he okay?"
At least their story was nice and innocuous. It was just a bit of sledding, at least until Patamon took things too far. So far, it sounded a lot like how Maia would react if she didn't have her immaculate patience in regards to Kuu. Isaac shuddered imagining the two of them in the same room. Still, at least even if Mitsuko lost her patience, and Patamon was a total pest, the two seemed to watch out for each other. It was all quite familiar to Isaac, who had lived all of this surprisingly often. "Well, at least none of you got hurt," Isaac said. "That could've been a disaster."
Well, besides Patamon getting strangled. And now grounded. As he made a plea to Elliot and Isaac for backup, Elliot just shrugged. "What did he even do?" he asked, looking around in hopes of finding help.
Isaac just shot a glare in Patamon's direction. "He knows what he did."

"Yeah... I'll be okay..." Patamon says softly as he shakes the snow off of his head "If someone doesn't make things dim memories..." Patamon pleaded his blue eyes widening innocently, his lip quivering at Mitsuko. On a scale from 1 to 10 Patamon's cuteness is an 11, some days a 12. Today however is not one of those days. Mitsuko's soft ocean-y eyes hardened with storm-like proportions. "Not going to happen." She said as she crosses her arms and turns away from her partner. Breaking eye contact is the best way to give in. Yep. "Aww!" Patamon whines, as he hangs his head in defeat.
"Yeah, we were lucky. Thanks to you guys." Mitsuko's eyes softened when she looked at Isaac. "I apologize for any... inconvenience... my partner may have caused you." With a sigh she picks Patamon up into her arms, not looking at him. What did he do? The thought courses through her mind, as she clenches Patamon tighter to her chest. Oh my. Mitsuko doesn't even want to answer that. Another soft blush creeping onto her face. Patamon wiggles against his tamer's hold, to no avail. "Hey, I don't even know what I did wrong!" Patamon whines "All I did was make a reference to a TV show I once saw." Patamon looks up at his partner "It said something about boning. The young one said something about being boney. I just figured it was a similar context."
Mitsuko's face froze into a look of horror. "You... referenced..." She sputtered. "It is NOT the same thing! Next time ... ASK ME before things get... Oh..." Mitsuko's voice cracks on the last word. It was a misunderstanding... everything was a misunderstanding... well... except when she fell on Elliot. That was totally gravity's fault right?! Her blush deepened again. "Well, as a thank you, is there anything we can help you with?" Mitsuko offered "I feel bad about having you save us... and then..." Well... that last part of the sentence, does it really need to be said?
Patamon finally wiggles out of Mitsuko's hold, and flys to Isaac. "I am sorry." Patamon says, as his big blue eyes open their full effect, his lip quivering again. "I didn't mean to cause any trouble. Can you forgive me? Please?" Patamon's voice rings with sincerity as his eyes searches Isaac's, hoping to find forgiveness.

Elliot nodded in understanding as Patamon explained the situation. "See? He didn't mean anything by it," he said, still bewildered by why everyone was making such a big deal about Patamon in the first place. He just said something about his bones, right? Really, it was his fault for suggesting the possibility. Partners could be quite defensive over their tamers, and he should've realized that even bringing up the possibility of being painful would've gotten that reaction. Next time he'd be more careful!
Isaac, on the other hand, simply grumbled a little. "Just never say anything like that about my brother again and it's fine," he said, still offended by the mere idea Patamon had brought up. At least it was an accident this time, which was better than all the times Kuu intentionally tried to tease him and get under his skin. When the initial grumps passed, a small smile formed back on his face. "Seriously though, don't worry about it. Accidents happen," he explained, feeling somewhat better. Mentally counting to 10 did wonders for his temperament!
That said, Mitsuko offering help was confusing to him. Wasn't she the one who needed help? Like, she was stuck in a snowdrift just minutes ago, and now she was standing around in the middle of the tundra. "We're good, but thanks for the offer," Isaac said, looking warily back towards the distinct whiteness that was the tundra. "We're all awfully far from the nearest Trailmon, though. You all good for getting home?"
"Wait, what about the spirit we're looking for?" Isaac frantically motioned for Elliot to stop, but he just kept going. "They could help us look for that!"
Isaac sighed. Firstly, they were just checking for spirits, not actually on the hunt for one. Secondly, they were currently at quite the high level of power. Now that they found both their human and beast spirits, anything that came next could've been really bad news! That wasn't something to just drag other people into, especially ones who they couldn't gauge the strength of. "Elliot, we don't even know where that spirit is. I don't think starting a full-fledged hunt for it in the middle of the tundra is a good id-"
Beep. A small blip appeared on the map displayed on Isaac's Digivice, and it started to beep at regular intervals. ". . . Huh."
"Yay, we found something!" Elliot cheered, a bright smile on his face. "C'mon, you guys should totally come with us."

"See! All better!" Patamon cheered as he looked back from the boys to his tamer. "Sooo ... no dim memories?" The silverette shakes her head in defeat. "I suppose... but one more slip up, and I swear..." Patamon rolls his eyes "I know. I know. You'll 'shake the data out of me.'" Mitsuko nodded mutely, as her face slowly returned back to it's pale color. However listening to why the boys were out, that made the young tamer nervous.
Oh my... a Spirit hunt. Mitsuko thought to herself. The last one was quite an adventure, but almost resulted in tragedy twice. Kuu and Alicia were almost killed. Thank god for Angemon, he literally saved them both, by sacrificing his own power. Took Patamon a while to recover from that. "I er... don't want to..." Mitsuko lowered her gaze "I don't want to intrude."
Patamon just rolled his eyes again. "Suki-chan, its okay. I'll be fine. As long as you don't shake me again." This earned him quite a glare. "I won't shake you, unless you deserve it..." Mitsuko then mumbled something about an overgrown rodent. Hmm. Strange. Patamon kept his eyes on the two boys. "Aye Sirs! Lets go hunting!"
"If you are sure it isn't a prob---" Just then Mitsuko heard a series of beeps coming from her bag. Quickly she pulled out her Teal and White D3, and noticed a small blip. "Uhm... is this where you're going by any chance?" Mitsuko holds her digivice towards the boys. "Because something tells me, I need to go there as well."
"Ohhh! I get to digivolve again! YAY!" Patamon cheers. Something told Mitsuko, this hunt was going to be unlike anything else she had seen before. Oy vey!

Other than the slight undercurrent of continued murderous rage aimed in her partner's general direction, it seemed like Mitsuko had calmed down and recovered a bit. Elliot let out a sigh of relief, glad that his own screwing up didn't lead to her being too hurt. Or Patamon, for that matter. "No dim memories," Elliot said, smiling softly. "Right, Isaac?"
"Yeah, sure. No dim memories," Isaac replied. "Just remember to be careful what you say, eh? There can be some real grumpy people in the Digital World, and the real grumps are often the most dangerous ones." The idea of Patamon ticking off a Mega and getting evaporated was kind of disturbing, frankly.
That said, the light mood didn't seem to last for too long. As soon as a spirit hunt was brought up, Mitsuko went from eager to help to very withdrawn. Elliot didn't seem to notice too much, but Isaac raised an eyebrow curiously. At least with her gaze lowered, he could properly look her in the eye now! "Hey, don't worry. It's not an intrusion," he said, voice soft and understanding. He wasn't sure entirely what had Mitsuko shaken up, but he didn't want to just leave it hanging. "It's always great having people come along. 'Sides, we've seen some really unique places on these hunts before." A terrifying lab full of traps and a city made of trash weren't exactly choice tourist destinations, but they certainly deviated from the norm! "We've done a few of these before, too, so we can give you a hand if push comes to shove." That covered at least a few worry bases, right?
Then again, it seemed like Mitsuko wouldn't have a choice in the matter. Elliot took out his Digivice and held it up to Mitsuko's to compare, noticing the blips were lining up quite perfectly. "Huh. I've never seen that before," he said, head tilted curiously. "Did we find some kind of treasure trove? I wonder what'll be over there!"
"Well, that settles it!" Isaac declared, pointing off into the distance. "You help us, we'll help you. Time to get exploring! You want to walk, or take the express route?"
As Isaac deliberated this, he gave Elliot a slight nudge with his elbow. Elliot knew exactly what that nudge meant; "you're the people person." He took a few steps closer to Mitsuko, keeping his voice a bit lowered in case she wanted to air her concerns a bit more privately. "You okay?" he asked, bright eyes shining with worry.

Mitsuko gulped, her memories playing before her eyes. Angemon. Kuu. Alicia. Maia. So much had happened, but it did bring them closer together, didn't it? "Treasure?!" Patamon exclaimed excitedly. "I hope they have something yummy! No better treasure than good food!" The silverette shook her head at her partner. "You've always got food on the brain, don't you?" Patamon didn't answer, but landed upon Mitsuko's head. "Don't worry. We'll be fine!" He added with a little nudge into her hair. Mitsuko could only reply with a soft smile.
Mitsuko was startled to see Elliot so close to her... especially after... Unwanted, embarrassing images resurfaced to her brain, which she quickly tried to dismiss. Patamon rolled his eyes, and decided to give the two some space. He took off from her perch, and headed towards Isaac "Hey, Isaac!" He called as he sailed towards the young man, landing upon his head. "What is the express route?" Something about his kind, caring eyes caused the young musician to open up about her past. "I've been one... a hunt... before." Mitsuko mumbled softly, her voice cracked with emotion.
Slowly she took a deep breath, and decided that the best path was to be completely honest. "I was on a spirit hunt, with Alicia Westfield, Maia Quinn, and Kuu, Maia's partner." Slowly she recounted her memories. The battles with Icemon and the demon dino digimon. Patamon's digivolution. Kuu's injury, and how Angemon was able to swoop in and help. Leading up to the point where Alicia was run through.
Silent tears streamed down Mitsuko's pale face, as she finished her story. "And... and.... " she sobbed, as she brushed away the tears, her voice catching in her throat. "Angemon sacrificed all of his remaining power... into one last heal. He de-digivolved back to Patamon, and was unconscious for a while. It scared me, I thought I lost him. I knew it was going to be dangerous going in... but I had no idea." Mitsuko's eyes were rimmed red, and puffy from her tears. Her hands were clenched by her side. "I know we have to go, but I can't lose him." Mitsuko smiled through her tears, as they cascaded down her face. "He is too important, to me, you know."

"Heh. Sorry, Patamon, but the eggs you're looking for aren't the kind for eating," Isaac warned. Briefly he imagined the Digimon trying to bite into an armor Digimental. With how ancient and sturdy they were, that would've been one hell of a toothache. "It's just gonna help make you stronger. Probably a good deal bigger, too. So please, don't try to bite it, okay?" Talking to Patamon was like talking to Kuu, if Kuu wasn't trying to subtly-yet-noticeably antagonize him.
Of course, while Isaac didn't agree with Patamon's insistence on eating everything, he did agree with the urge to go fast. An eager smirk spread across his face as he took out his Digivice, rolling it back and forth in the palm of his hand. "Well, I hate to brag, but when I'm in Beast form I can be pretty darn fast. I bet I could get you guys from here to the hunt in three minutes, if I really tried," he said, finger tentatively hovering over the button that would begin his Digivolution. "And hey, the quicker we're out of the cold the better, right?"
Isaac wasn't the only one having a private one on one talk, however. Elliot was too, albeit on a much more somber topic. He perked up at mention of Alicia, Maia, and Kuu, starting to say "I know-!" before quickly shutting himself up. Mitsuko was really hurting, and it would've been rude to keep on interrupting her.
He probably made the right choice there. She was sobbing and her voice was catching. The only thing that would've been worse than seeing it would be cutting her off. He waited patiently for her to finish, the worry in his eyes shining all the more brightly as she tried to smile through her tears.
Then, when she finished, he stood on his tiptoes and hugged her gently. It was such a light touch that it was like he wasn't even there.
"You're really brave, you know," he said, voice hitching slightly as if trying not to cry himself. "It takes a lot to be so caring and helpful for others, especially at the risk of your own lives. And then to still try and come with us, even though you're scared? That's a lot of courage." He tried to think of more to say, hoping that no matter how small his voice was Mitsuko was still hearing what he had to say. "Alicia's really important to us. And Maia stole my brother's heart without even trying. And they're both some of the strongest people I know. The fact that you stood by them means a ton to us. And it shows you're really strong, too. So, thank you for that," he added, blushing slightly.
He moved to pull back slightly, lacking just enough resistance to stay held on to in case Mitsuko didn't want to let go. "Is there anything I can do?" he asked. "You know, to help you feel a bit better about this?"
