It was Sunrise over the beach of Whitewater. The sun was appearing over the distant waves to the east. It made for a particularly pretty picture. The skies were clear, the seabreeze was crisp, it was a perfect day for flying. Standing on the beach were three figures. One a 13 year old human, one a red and white furred Elecmon, and one a purple furred Impmon. The digimon were wearing blue and red scarves respectively. And they had excited looks on their faces. For now, they were about to head off on a great adventure. To the Everfalls - World's End. And how they would go there? Well, they would go with the help of their trusty mercenary digimon. AirVessemon. "AirVessemon, Realize" Colin said, putting a small chip into his D-Arc. A Digimemory. At once, a huge airship digimon appeared in a burst of light. 75 meters long, 40 meters high, the giant Perfect level appeared. "Ah, hello, Colin" he said. "You know, before we embark, I would like to ask you something" "Hm? What's up?" Colin asked. "Well, your partners both have names" AirVessemon said. "And... I was meaning to ask you... do you think I can have one too?"Colin blinked. "Of course you can!" he said. "You can call yourself whatever you want. I mean, our contract doesn't cover your naming rights" "Yes, well, I know that" AirVessemon said. "But, I was meaning to ask if you could name me? Since we've been living together for quite a while now, so, I think it'd be nice""Oh, er, okay, wow" Colin said, a little overwhelmed. "Can I think about it for a bit?" "Of course, sir" said AirVessemon. "Now then. Where do you wish to go today?""We'd like an adventure" Colin said. "Can you take us to the Everfalls?""...wow" AirVessemon said. "Well I can, sir, but I don't recommend it. The Floating Fortress does not deal well with trespassers" "We just wanna go sightseeing" Colin explained. "But if it's too dangerous..." "Oh, well, in that case, of course I can take you there" AirVessemon said, pleased. "By all means, come aboard".And so the three prepared to embark. Surely the sight of the giant airship digimon on the beach would be of interest to passers-by as well. And Colin and his partners were friendly. They'd be okay if someone wanted to stop and chat. "We're not lost, I know precisely where I am!" The distinguished upper-class English accent rings out across the beach. A trio of unlikely companions is wandering across the sands. A five foot tall human boy in a school uniform, caucasian, with dark brown hair and matching eyes. A child-sized imp-like Digimon with a fiery red mane and stumps where horns might've been, once. The third is the tallest and by far the most attention grabbing. A humanoid made entirely of sleek green metal, with mirrors on the back of his forearms and...a mirror with lipstick in place of a face. Uhhh. "W-we are entirely lost, M-Mercurymon," the human replies with a sigh. Maybe they could find someone to ask for help... "Not at all, my lord! At first, we were over there," The mirror-covered figure points behind them, "And now...we are here! Progress has been made, my lord!" The human actually stops and turns to stare at his companion for a moment, trying to work out if Mercurymon suddenly developed a sense of humor (albeit a very poor one). "Hey, guys?" The imp speaks up. "Th-that's not funny, Mercurymon," Tadashi comments after several long seconds, "I g-guess I could call out Du-Dskmon and we could take DarkTrailmon b-back...except we st-still don't know where we are,""Guys,""Well. We are on a beach, my lord. There cannot be too many of those, surely?" "Guys?" "Once again, I c-c-can't tell if y-you're being serious,""Always, my lord," "HEY GUYS!" Flamemon completely gives up any attempt at being subtle, leaping up and bonking Tadashi over the head just hard enough to get his attention. He points down the beach, where a huge airship-like Digimon just... appeared from nowhere. Oh, wait. There's a human underneath...maybe. And some other Digimon? The airship can fly, it's bound to know where they are! "Why don't we just ask them? Y'know. As much as I'm lovin'..." he gestures between Tadashi and Mercurymon, "Whatever this is,"Tadashi frowns. How had he not seen that? It's a blimp. It couldn't really be more obvious if it tried. He sighs and starts down the beach, wondering when exactly his life had become so...predictable. Violent encounters with dangerous monsters? Check. Getting lost in an alternate reality? Check. Running into other humans in an unlikely fashion? Check. "H-hey over there!" he calls out as they get closer, waving a hand, "I, uh. This is going to s-sound pretty dumb, but, um. Where are we?"

Luke was the first to notice the approaching boy and his digimon, the Elecmon's sensitive ears picking them up. A few seconds later, his brother and partner also noticed. They recognized the digimon as a Flamon and Mercurymon, which was curious. Colin thought he might be using mercenaries like them if his digimon were so different.
But, yet, his partners were an Elecmon and Impmon, so he supposed variations could happen a lot in twins. The only thing Luke and Bellamy had in common was their face shapes pretty much. Oh and they both wore scarves.
Colin heard that the boy seemed a bit nervous. "Where are you?" he asked, trying not to be judgemental. "You're just outside of Whitewater City at the moment, the city's just over that sandbank there" he pointed in the direction of the city they had come from.
Colin was curious about the kid. He looked about his age, and wouldn't mind chatting for a little while before they took off. Just for a peace of mind so that he could tell someone where he was intending on going.
"I'm Colin James by the way" he said. "And these are my partners, Luke and Bellamy"
"Hiya" Bellamy said, walking over to Flamon. "Heh, another fire user eh? Nice to meet ya"
"Hey there" Luke said, waving, staying at Colin's side. He wasn't quite as outgoing as Bellamy was when stranger digimon at a higher level than him were around.
"And this digimon here is my mercenary digimon" he indicated AirVessemon. "His name is-" he remembered that he had meant to come up with a name for him. Oh gosh, it'd be a bit awkward if he was introducing him to someone.
"Daedalus" Luke muttered. Colin blinked.
"...sorry, Luke?" he asked.
"A name" Luke said, looking inspired. "It's perfect for him!"
Colin decided to trust him on this. "This is Daedalus" he said. Both Bellamy and AirVessemon looked surprised, then Bellamy shrugged and nodded.
"Thank you, sir" AirVessemon, now named Daedalus sounded delighted.

Nervous might not be the way to describe the way he's speaking. More like...he's stumbling over his words. Like the words aren't quite forming before they come tumbling out of his mouth. Quick! Bring it up and draw a ton of attention to it, Colin! That'll make this tons better!
"Whitewater City?" The boy pauses to consider, before rounding on Mercurymon, "S-see? I told you w-we were lost! You s-s-said we were near Terminus!" He sighs and runs a hand through his hair. He takes a deep breath and turns to Colin with a bright, friendly smile.
"I'm sorry. I d-didn't introduce myself, did I?" The boy offers a hand, pretty sure that's how normal people interact with each other, "I'm T-Tadashi Tenkuji. These are a couple of m-my partners, Flamemon and M-Mercurymon. No snazzy nicknames like y-your partners though," his grin grows a little wider. It could almost be called charming.
Flamemon folds his arms, trying to look tall and intimidating. A shame, then, that he looks like a five year old boy in bright red pants. He might be the less intimidating than his General. Mercurymon continues to stand nearby, at attention like a soldier on display for his commanding officers. The other two don't address it. "You shoot fire too?" Mercurymon asks of Bellamy, puffing up his chest a little, "That's cool, I guess, but I'm a big-deal Fire Elemental,"
"F-Flamemon, knock it off. Your bragging is how we ended up g-getting in all that trouble with those Parrotmon in the f-f-first place," Tadashi sighs, "...But it's nice to meet you all," He can't deny that he's a little curious about the other kid too. They didn't often run into other humans when they went for a wander, and this one seemed particularly friendly. "Daedalus, huh? Jeez, y-you're a big one. I don't think any of mine get that big," he whistles, impressed. ...And secretly hoping 'Daedalus' as a name isn't prophetic.
...Especially for an airship.
"Wait, what's a Mercenary D-Digimon?" The Xros Loader in his back pocket vibrates and beeps. Presumably some of the others are trying to get out. But Tadashi's determined to avoid having this turn into another mess caused by their wildly conflicting personalities. Some of them were...especially abrasive.

Colin couldn't help but snort a little with mirth at the idea that someone could get so far lost from Terminus that they'd end up at Whitewater, but he quickly turned this into a cough when he realized that not everyone had the luxury of an Airship digimon's navigational system for help. Also his digivice might work differently?
"Ah that's no problem. Nicknames are just a new fad that we're tryin' to spread" Bellamy grinned. "Although I doubt those hoity-toity purists over living with ElDoradimon would approve of it".
They had approached that realm once before, although were told to leave at once by the independent digimon that resided there. Humans didn't seem to be welcome in that place, so Colin wouldn't risk his life in going there again.
Bellamy grinned and scratched his chin as Flamon tried to look intimidating. Well, 7.8/10 for trying. Not that the Impmon could do any better, looking like a mix between a little devil and a scruffy cat. He was told by his partner to be careful by the nervous kid, so Bellamy chose not to escalate it.
"Eh, fair enough. I guess Darkness is more my thing anyway" the Impmon shrugged. "Not that I'm evil or anything, heh heh"
"Indeed I'm big, but most of it is air, so don't mind my size" Daedalus said, his voice not loud, but able to be heard in its curt manner. Airships of course had to have a lot of space for their helium tanks.
Tadashi then introduced himself, and asked what mercenary digimon were. "Basically they're digimon that allow themselves to be hired on contracts where they help us out" Luke explained. "They're not slaves or anything, we pay Daedalus to take us around the digital world".
Colin then heard Tadashi's digivice make some noises. It drew attention to it. Colin blinked. "I haven't heard a digivice make a noise like that before" he said. His own D-Arc and others like Marshal's made different noises altogether.

"ElDoradimon? Is that the b-big turtle city thing? We saw it once, but M-Mercurymon thought it was too dangerous to g-go near for some reason. Are the people inside n-not very friendly?" Tadashi reaches into his pocket and draws it out. It's a lot bigger than a typical D-Arc or D3 Digivice. It almost looks like an iPod, right down to the wheel on the front, although it's quite thick and covered in black glyphs of some sort. "Yeah, that's..." he sighs, "Alright, f-fine, you can come out, just t-try to contain yourselves, please?"The boy gives Colin an apologetic look as he holds up his Digivice. "R-Reload: Arbormon, Ranamon, Duskmon, Lobomon, Grumblemon," And indeed, five more Digimon appear in a dazzling display of light. The first is tall and wooden. The second is short and looks like a blue little girl...merged with a fish. The third is tall, silent and intimidating, dressed in black skeletal armor with numerous moving eyes across it. The fourth looks like a human in wolf-themed armor. And the fourth resembles a little goblin with a huge hammer. Quite the menagerie this kid's collected, huh? Almost immediately they spread out a bit, exploring the immediate area. "S-sorry. We've been walking a while, I g-guess they were feeling a little cramped up in there," Tadashi explains, before finally addressing what had been said by Luke earlier, "Huh. I didn't realize you could hire D-Digimon to do jobs, but I guess that makes sense. Independent contractors. I d-dunno why I never thought of trying to hire some before,"He peers up at Daedalus again, before turning his attention back to Colin, "So, uh. You p-pay Daedalus to ferry you around, huh? Sorry if we're h-holding you up. Are you going anywhere exciting today?"

"Yeah, that's the one" Luke said, nodding as Tadashi admitted to have seeing the giant digimon too. So he must be fairly experienced about the ways of the digital world then. "Well, they can be friendly, but they don't trust humans much. Some will even attack them on sight".
"I guess some humans have done pretty bad things around the place, huh?" Bellamy mused. Then Tadashi revealed his digivice. And it was a thing Colin had never seen before.
"Oh wow, what model is that?" he asked, impressed. What happened next shocked him. A bunch of digimon burst from the device.
"Whoa, digimemory overload huh?" Bellamy said, impressed.
"Ohh, I think I heard of those" Luke exclaimed, the Elecmon more knowledgable in these things, what with him trying to qualify as an Engineer. "That's a Xros Loader right?"
"A what loader?" Colin asked. Even if he had travelled the digital world a lot, he hadn't yet seen something like this. The digimon seemed to enjoy stretching their legs and looking around their surroundings.
"Some humans act as Xros Generals, who control a small army of digimon" Luke said. "But they have a lot of limitations as well"
Colin supposed that was all he needed to know for now. He looked back at Tadashi. "Yeah, all you need to do is buy out a contract with one, and they're as good as yours" he said. "But you can't hire one stronger than your current team though".
He gave a grin and shook his head as Tadashi asked if he was holding them up. "Not at all. We're just getting ready to take a look at the Everfalls today" he divulged, excitedly. "Have you been about that way too?" he asked, curiously.

"Yeah, it's a Xros Loader alright," Tadashi smiles at Luke, "it used to b-be my cellphone," He looks down at the device in a fond way, as one might look at a hard-earned trophy. "I s-sometimes forget there are so many d-different kinds of Digivice," He can certainly appreciate a little diversity, though.
He shakes his head, clearing his tangental thoughts as Colin speaks again, "Huh. W-well, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the information. ...Not that we've ever n-needed much in the way of additional manpower before. We usually muddle through. Uh. J-just about," That...is accurate. Mostly. They often could use a little extra firepower or utility, and end up scraping through by sheer luck and the benevolent power of gigantic robotic crocodiles.
"The Everfalls, huh? W-we've never been quite that far, I don't think. I've h-heard it's meant to be pretty awesome to look at though," Boy, he really hates imposing his company on people, but... "Would you m-mind if I maybe came along to look around?"

"Ah, is that right? It used to be your cellphone?" Colin asked, interested. "Heh, mine fried when I went to the digital world and turned into this thing" he held up his D-Arc. "Well... I guess it was a different model first, but I upgraded it to this model. So yeah. It can't store my partners in it like yours can""Thank Homeostasis" Bellamy muttered. Colin didn't hear and instead nodded when it came to the subject of mercs. "Yeah. While most digimon are kind of suspicious about humans, some might be willing to help us out if they get paid for it, so, it's just something to keep in mind" he shrugged. Although an Xros General will indeed probably not have any need of additional monpower. Tadashi then seemed interested about the Everfalls, and asked if he could come on and take a look too. "Sure you can" Colin said immediately to the smaller boy. "There's heaps of room on board, enough for all your partners too".
Bellamy and Luke glanced at their partner in a kind of 'We just met this guy, are you sure about this?' look, but supposed there would be no real objections to it. Tadashi seemed nice, albeit shy, so maybe this would be a cool thing for them to do to meet a new class of human that would be around here? Besides, Tadashi sure looked like a kid that would really benefit from someone being nice to him, like they knew the benevolent Colin would be. "So then, let's climb on board" Colin said, inviting Tadashi and his crew aboard Daedalus, climbing the stairs into the awaiting cabin. "The room in here is not as big as it is on a marine vessel, but, there's enough to stretch your legs on a long voyage".The first thing they would see upon entering Daedalus's cabin was a decently sized room covered with varnished brown wood. It had all the feel of an early 1800's full sized sailing ship, but of course without the smell of seawater all around. "The deck's up above if you'd like to walk on that" Colin said, introducing them to his mercenary's cabin. "And if you want to sleep, there's 8 cabins back here with 2 bunks each, but I gather you don't plan on being here that long".
After that, Colin led them into the main lounge cabin, with full view of the surroundings, complete with comfortable chairs, a door to the galley, and a television screen at the back, which was currently displaying navigational information. "And here's the lounge" Colin said, smiling. He hoped Tadashi and his digimon liked what they saw.

Tadashi beams. Boy, this guy's pretty friendly to let them tag along. "Great, thanks a bunch!" He whistles loudly, just enough to get the attention of his various partners, who start moving towards him. "Alright. T-try to behave at least a little, guys. That means no unexpected fires," He glares at Flamemon.
That done, he turns to follow Colin and his partners aboard the magical blimp of ridiculousness. Boy, it seems even bigger on the inside. His eyes widen the more of the thing they see. "I th-think I'll pass on the sleeping, yeah. I d-definitely don't mind having some human company though. Or, in f-fact, any company that isn't Mercurymon pretending he knows where he's g-going. Again," He sighs wearily. As they enter the lounge, his jaw practically drops.
"This is all...amazing," Tadashi manages after a few moments of stunned silence, "I thought D-DarkTrailmon was luxurious with the padded leather seats and ice maker, but...jeez. Th-this blows him out of the water. Or off the tracks, or whatever,"
The Digimon are similarly impressed, spreading out around the room to peer out of windows and find places to sit for their voyage. It's unusual for them to all be out of the Xros Loader at once, after all.
"You're a lucky, lucky g-guy, Colin, with your own private airship friend." That's certainly an unusual sentence.
He moves to peer out of a window for a few moments before something strikes him. He glances over his shoulder, "So, how come y-you guys were headed out to the Everfalls?" Maybe they're just really thirsty.
Wait, what?

"Er... yeah, unexpected fires are definitely not good" Bellamy said sweatdropping as he overheard. Since the AirVessemon was made mostly of wood, he didn't think that would go down very well.
Colin meanwhile was glad that Tadashi seemed impressed. "That's okay, I don't mind company either" he smiled at his partners. "While these two are awesome, I like talking to guests too"
"Oh you flatter us, Col" Luke said, waving a paw. It was a well known fact among the three of them that Colin had been a bit lonely before he met them, and since he now had Elecmon and Impmon brothers in his life he tended to be more outgoing.
Tadashi was quite impressed with Daedalus's interior. This made the AirVessemon quite pleased. "Thank you. I had hoped to maintain good conditions for my clients, so I'm grateful for the praise" he said through the intercom.
Colin meanwhile was interested in the story Tadashi had just hinted at. "A DarkTrailmon you say?" he asked, interested, sitting down. "What kind of trip was that about?"
He smiled a little at Tadashi's next words. "Heh, yeah, I guess I am pretty lucky" he said. Mainly for having Bellamy and Luke to encourage him to hire a digimon to be transportation for them.
He then asked why they were headed to the Everfalls. "Well, it's just, you know, you hear so much stories about the Flat Earth where there's an end to the world" he said. "And then you hear legends about in the digital world there's an actual end to the sea that leads into oblivion... I was just thinking, maybe it'd be neat to see something like that?" he asked, shrugging. And all of it would be recorded on the AirVessemon's navigational systems, so it would be just perfect footage. That and having seen such a spectacle with his own mortal eyes, it was an opportunity too good to turn down.

Neat to see something like that, huh? That's one way to put it. "Well. That's certainly t-true. I love seeing all the weird stuff in this world. Well. B-both worlds," Tadashi agrees wholeheartedly, "Oh. DarkTrailmon's, uh. One of my p-partners. Mercurymon and D-Duskmon can fuse together into it. It's how I u-usually get around. Not all of us are lucky enough to have an airship for a fr-fr-friend," he grins.
Tadashi still isn't a hundred percent sure what to make of Colin. He seems nice enough. Friendly enough to invite a stranger and his bajillion Digimon pals along on an adventure. Heck! Tadashi could be a serial killer! Or here to steal all of Colin's stuff! Kid's certainly trusting. A total novelty in this day and age.
"So, uh. Are y-you guys from Shibuya too?" He pauses. Luke and Bellamy clearly aren't natives of Japan. Not originally, anyway. "Uh. I mean. Do you guys l-live in Shibuya?" he quickly corrects, "Seems like m-most people I meet in the Digital World live around there,"
You really suck at talking to new people you can't flirt with, Tadashi.
"Sorry, I'm, uh. N-not very good at small-talk with some people I guess," he admits sheepishly, practically leaning on the fourth wall.

"Yeah, it's funny how things like that work out" Colin said. "Before I came here, the most unusual thing I ever saw was some street magician back in Omaha, but here, it's just... something out of a science fiction novel".
Not that Colin was that voracious of a reader. Yes, he did read sometimes at school, but only if he had to.
So, DarkTrailmon was a digimon formed from 2 of his partners? "Wow, that sounds pretty neat" Luke said. "One of our friends, Ryouta, he has a GranLocomon merc. It's neat to have friends that can transport you... although personally I prefer the air".
"Yeah yeah, very clever, Falco" said Bellamy. Luke blinked, not getting that reference.
Colin meanwhile hadn't really come across any reason why he should be scared of Tadashi. As in, he hadn't exactly met any bad humans in this world before. Even if he knew they were around. And, well, even if this was some kind of elaborate sabotage, Colin trusted that his partners would help him out if there was any cause for alarm. Colin had seen them in action before, and they were very tough.
Daedalus then began his engines, and the airship digimon began to float into the air. The motion was smooth, the wind not too turbulent today. And before long, they were flying high above the sea.
Tadashi then asked another question. "Yeah, I live in Shibuya" Colin said, nodding. "I'm originally from Omaha in America though. I guess my accent gives it away".
Tadashi wasn't good at small talk? "That's okay. Flying can do that to people" Bellamy said, cheerfully. "So where ya from anyway? Shibuya as well? Oh yeah, how many more spirits do ya gotta get before you'll have the full set?" he asked curiously.

"Omaha? I've never heard of it, s-sorry," Tadashi shrugs a little helplessly, offering a smile. "Oh, uh. Y-yeah, I live in Shibuya. My birth parents are Danish though, s-so I was nearly born in Denmark..." You're rambling, Tadashi, move on and talk about something else.
"There are three of us missing," Lobomon responds to the question on Tadashi's behalf, speaking in a quiet tone that conveys a bizarre amount of seriousness. Lighten up. "Kazemon, the nimble warrior of the Wind. Beetlemon, the impervious warrior of Thunder. And Kumamon, the warrior of Ice," What? Kumamon doesn't get a title? Rude.
"It's a l-little tricky finding their totems and g-getting past any guardians," Tadashi explains, "they show up on my Xros L-Loader's map now and then, but we basically have to s-sit on our hands in the meantime and wait for the l-last three to appear. And, uh. As I s-said, there are usually g-guardians with their totems. Left there b-by whoever they were fighting in the distant past. They're usually completely unhinged and insane, unfortunately,"
"Once all ten of us are assembled, we can once more take our true form and defend the Digital World with unparalleled strength," Lobomon exposits.

Colin grinned. "Yeah that's okay, not much people hear of Omaha these days". It was always the big American cities of LA, Chicago and New York that people knew, the smaller ones tended to be less well known.
He was interested to hear that Tadashi was of Danish ancestry. "Really? That's interesting" he said. Meanwhile Bellamy was a bit confused.
"Eh, why do humans care so much about where others are from? They all look the same to me" the Impmon muttered.
"Well... I guess it means a lot when there's not that much differences that's noticeable with humans" the Elecmon answered, shrugging. To him, a human was basically a tall bipedal creature with fur on their head with five fingers and wore clothes, and there was little more than that, other than their impressively divergent personalities. Some people could be awesome like Colin, others not so much. But the Elecmon didn't see much other than small differences like skin, hair and eye color.
Lobomon answered Bellamy's question. So there were three more left on this quest of theirs. "Huh, neat. Will somethin' big happen when ya get all 10?" the Impmon asked curiously.
They listened to Tadashi's explanation. Still though, Colin was impressed. "I mean... wow, you've got 7 so far. 3 to go. Where else can you go but forward?" he asked, trying to sound philosophical.
Other than that, he felt like he might be able to help these guys out. "Well, if ever you get a lead on these other spirits, if this trip goes okay, you could call on us and we'd give you a lift to where you wanna go" he said. "Except to the Dark Area though, and other places where humans might not be welcome, like El Doradimon and such".
By now, land was long behind them. Daedalus was quick in getting them to see the Everfalls. But it would still be a little while longer until they arrived.
"Say Tadashi..." Colin said, hesitantly. "I've been meaning to ask this to other experienced people who have been around here. Basically... do you know a reason why humans like us have been called to the digital world?". Maybe there was a briefing he had missed? Colin just wanted to make sure.
