Asher likes to see people smile, hm? "Me too. It's a gr-great feeling when you can make someone else sm-smile or brighten their day a little," Heck, he tries to make people smile as often as he can! Although lately that's involved an awful lot of herding giant squid-like creatures. Hm. There's probably a joke in there, somewhere.
Moving on.
"Oh, I know California," Tadashi smiles. It was a rarity that he actually recognized a place outside of Shibuya when people from other countries introduced themselves, so it was a nice change to be able to do more than just not and smile vacantly. ...Although he's doing that anyway, so, "My family went on v-vacation there a few years ago. I n-nearly ended up g-going to a performing arts school there, too, but, uh...well. T-tuition and board overseas...it's a little pricey,"
"Well, I heard that my b-birth parents originally wanted to call me Hans, so...I'll take 'Tadashi' over that any d-day of the week," There are just too many jokes to be made with the former. Like whether he needs a Hans with something.
Sigh.
"Oh, really? I have eight partners, actually. T-ten soon, fingers crossed. It's a big, ongoing grand quest. Except I d-don't even have the option of just r-riding giant birds to my goal. Which also probably isn't a giant volcano, thinking of it," It is. It is, though. He rationalizes that Asher must be a tamer. He runs into them more often than he thought he would in the real world, and they seem to be the most common kind of Digi-person in his experience. "...I'm assuming your c-cat is your partner?"
[OOC: Sorry for my absence. IRL kicked my ass ridiculously hard.]

It was nice to find someone that could agree on making people smile. But, that probably just meant that neither of them were awful people! Or, uh, at least they tried not to be! Then again, maybe Tadashi liked to make people smile through some sort of horrible, evil scheming. Asher didn't know. And probably never would!
At least Asher knew that Tadashi was familiar with California. That made things a little less awkward, and didn't involve any maps! "A performing arts school?" Well, that sounded interesting! "What for, exactly?" Of course something along those lines would have caught the ex-actor's attention! Though, the idea of the cost was more than enough to justify why the boy wouldn't have been able to attend such a thing. California wasn't generally known to be the cheapest place to live, to begin with!
But, who would have made more of a famous-name impact? Tadashi or Hans? Even trying to think about it, Asher was only left with the horrible desire to make some sort of joke on the name. That took backseat to the term 'birth parents', of course. Unfortunately, Asher didn't think that his work setting was a good place to inquire about something like that! Family matters could be pretty sensitive, after all! Albeit, unlikely if Tadashi would so openly say something like that! "Hmm," the young man hummed, "you do look more like a Tadashi than a Hans." That's only because he was introduced as Tadashi! If the customer had come in calling himself Hans, surely Asher would feel the opposite! Brains were weird like that.
Wait. Eight or ten partners? "How do you deal with that many of them?" Was the first thing Asher could even think to utter! The next was to snicker, and avoid immediately mentioning that he could turn into a large bird. He also didn't want to go flying to any volcanoes! Given, that part was obviously not accurate to this 'real-life' story. It most definitely belonged to someone else's fictional world! "Hopefully, it's something a little less ominous." Then again, the Digital World could probably turn anything into a terrifying mess!
There was a pause, debating how to respond to the assumption. "Actually, I have no idea why she decided to live with me," he admitted. Cats were weird creatures, and really adopted humans more than humans actually adopted them! Or the Meicoomon had ulterior motives! Asher really hadn't figured it out yet! "I don't really have a partner." Unless partners also weren't really alive, but at the same time sort-of were! "I have spirits, instead." To emphasize, the redhead shifted to pull his D-Scanner out of his pocket. It was easy to think that his 'feline' companion should have been his partner. From the people that he'd met, it seemed like tamers were a bit more of a popular breed. Then again, what did Asher know? He was completely unaware of Xros Generals until right now!

If there's one thing Tadashi's happy to talk about for hours and hours and hours and h--for as long as anyone'll let him, at least, it's his talents and hobbies. "Dancing," he announces, "I, uh, I d-dance. Someone from the school had seen me and o-offered me a place," Gasp! A dancer! Surely a sign of a sick mind! Or something. "I sing a little too, b-but dancing is where my true passion lies," he smiles.
"They're...pretty g-good at organizing themselves. I usually only have to give the occasionaly c-c-command, and that's basically always in battle. They're p-pretty nice," Most of the time. ...Like...at least twenty percent of the time.
"Huh," Tadashi considers the other boy's lack of definite answer, "Well, you're p-pretty lucky. To have a Digimon that isn't y-your partner be willing to buddy up with you and stuff," Heck, Tadashi would love some more Digimon! ...Wait, no. That sounds unmanageable.
"Oh! Spirits," Tadashi winces at his own loud exclamation and then lowers his voice. He leans over the table to examine the D-Scanner. "Very fancy. I've m-met a couple of people who use sp-sp-sp-sp--..." he pauses and takes a deep breath to calm himself as his stammer momentarily get the better of him, "spirits," he finishes, "It must be pretty weird to t-turn into an entirely different creature,"
He eyes Asher consideringly, "So. Wh-what do you turn into?" Hopefully something funny!

Dancing was something that took a lot of dedication, Asher could only imagine. Unless dancers were just always naturals at it. Right now, he could only really picture Tadashi in a tutu, but the redhead was well aware that wasn't how things actually worked! "Are there any schools for that around here?" It would be a shame to see such passion fizzle out!
Asher had to admit that he was glad that he didn't have that many creatures to be in charge of. Even if they were mostly self-organizing! 'Command' was an interesting choice in words for the subject, but the teen decided that it was probably just that. A word choice. It's not like he was actually running an army or anything! Right? "I'm guessing they make good company, then?" What else would you do in a room full of Digimon, except socialize, anyway?
All Asher ever did with Whiskers was socialize, sleep, and drag her along for adventures, after all! "Yeah. She always wants me to feed her, though." The Meicoomon really was like a cat! But, Asher couldn't complain too much about how needy she could be. It was only just after how much he could annoy the poor feline-mon!
Despite the volume level being higher than desired, Asher only smiled when the boy spoke. It was kind of cute! Especially with the stuttering. Was it rude to find that adorable in some way? Probably. "I've only run into a couple others." Asher really needed to get out and meet more people, though! That was probably his own fault! "It's not too weird, after you get used to it," he admitted. The catch was that it took a lot of getting used to!
If Tadashi was hoping for funny, he was almost definitely going to get it. At the very least, the small squeaky exhale would be amusing. Why couldn't Asher ever think of a better way to word his spirits? "A lot of women," the teen answered, still maintaining his smile, despite how horribly awkward it was! "Like, one of them looks like a literal Amazon woman." That was certainly one of those forms that involved a lot of getting used to! It was easier to get used to a tail than it was to be a busty, scantily-clad woman!
