At least Hiroyo looked guilty behind her hands when Ryouta cried out. "He did but I forgot! I couldn't help myself! That form is really really cute!" She explained, her voice much quieter than before but still with that excited tone. It didn't help that she had severely underestimated the severity of his 'sensitivity' to sound! "I thought you meant like, loud noises annoyed you. Not cause you physical pain! I'll do better though! Promise!"
She kept her voice much quieter after that! She was still obviously excited, but hopefully that helped! Maybe it wouldn’t help as much as the new merging of the two (which she watched with eyes so wide they nearly popped from their sockets), but at least it would help!
“So, this is the final stage?” Hiroyo couldn't help but sound impressed, even keeping her voice deliberately quiet. She stepped back, giving that sword plenty of clearance. Hiroyo might trust Ryouta to not cut her in half on purpose but it was hard not to be cautious of such a large and obvious weapon! A terrible thought jumped to mind but she kept her lips tightly sealed despite the no-doubt obvious muscle twitching as her face threatened to break into a smile. She wouldn’t say it! There were certain lines you didn’t cross when dealing with a business partner (which Ryouta sort of was) or just people in general until you knew them well enough to know how they would take a comment like that!
So no, she thought to her brain, I will not ask about compensation and an excess of! That was just crossing a line in a major w ay!
“Ah-ahem! It seems I’ve been trouble again, I apologize for the noise! Although I will say that even if the train wasn’t speed-of-light fast I don’t think anyone could complain about your services. A-And sometimes there’s something to be said for enjoying the journey, not just rushing to the destination!” She said, her voice cracking into laughter at the end. Oh, she should really take a nap. But no, she needed to get this going. She had a potential life to save!
“So! Um, you said when we get moving we’ll be at the station for Terminus City in five seconds.” Hey look, she could listen and retain information after all! “So let’s go!” No more stalling! No more chances for her brain to be absolutely horrible. Why was it even where it was, she blamed her completely screwed up sleeping schedule! That was it!
Definitely not any kind of lingering resentment about the fact Ryouta had his own train and was friends with a talking dragon and could apparently fuse with it? Man, maybe she was still in high school and had fallen asleep reading manga again! Such crazy dreams from those crazy days.
She pinched herself on the inner elbow, digging in with her nails. A quiet hiss escaped her throat as she confirmed that she was, in fact, not dreaming. When her fingers moved away it was clear there were a few similar but faded marks in the same location. This would probably close to the last of them!

"...That's what you got when your sense and your brain doesn't align," Ryouta hissed, still in pain. He stood up and stared unamusedly at her when she start laughing, but he can already guess why. Goddamn, this woman really need a smack above her head, but he'd rather not, knowing that currently even bisecting a skyscraper would be a mundane task for him.
"...Just for your information, I'm not overcompensating anything. It's normal sized for a boy at my height!"
He totally disregarded what she said before that laughter. Honestly, seriously, she need to learn to wash that head of hers!
"It's not five seconds, it's five minutes! Only a stupid guy would activate a supersonic speed in some train station packed with other train and with train that can fit eight Trailmon in one compartment!"
Still, at least Ilbert got that as the cue to move. The engine starting to hum while circuit-like pattern on the wall starts to glow blue, showing that the train is ready to go. Suddenly, the view outside enveloped by bright light before one could notice that they're now facing the other way, almost like teleporting. This is Ilbert's way to change direction almost immediately in very small space.
"Arrival in Terminus: 5 minutes. Please sit back and enjoy the ride."
The train began to move... at first slow, but it began to pick up the pace. The speed was almost equal to shinkansen. It's amazing how he could keep up that speed while being this big at the same time. Ilbert continued to move forward, toward the tunnel that connected this world to Digital World. For a few minutes, only darkness could be seen outside... until there's an unmistakable sensation of passing through some barrier... then the tunnel gets far more futuristic, almost like they're in different tunnel altogether.
"Terminus in three minutes. We've passed through the digital gate."

“Okay, okay! I believe you and I really don't need any proof!” Hiroyo said with another giggle, spreading her hands in a placating gesture. Ah, winding him up was way too easy! She found it more entertaining then she should! For a moment she wondered if she should be worried by this tendency then decided against it. He could spare some dignity for the sake of humor!
Still, it wouldn't do to make him too mad, ticking off one’s pen bodyguard was just a terrible life decision, especially if one wanted to keep their life.
“So not five seconds, right! What would happen if you took off that fast at station besides broken windows? I mean, I guess if there were other people with your ah, sensitivity to sound then it would be pretty painful.” She asked as she slipped back into her chair. It wasn't like she really needed to worry about that kind of physics in her daily life. She started in on her dessert, attempting to hide her grin behind bitefuls of delicious pudding.
“It’s weird to think something this big can move so fast! No offense meant, I guess I'm just used to thinking of large things as slow?” She was still more amused than she should be at Ryouta’s earlier indignation but maybe a barrage of questioning would smooth things over!
As they crossed into the digital world Hiroyo felt something. It wasn't like anything she had ever felt before. It was like an icy hand was reaching up through her guts to wrap its fingers around her heart and pulling. Her face whitened beneath her make-up, her movements halted as her vision dimmed and she could feel a cold sweat breaking across her forehead as the smile faded from her face.
Then just like that the feeling was gone, its disappearance heralded by a quiet beep from the digivice at her side. She shook her head at the noise, forcing a grin back in place. She still felt off but maybe it was just sickness from crossing into another world? ‘Surely that kind of thing happens all the time!’ She reasoned to herself, hands digging at her purse to pull out the digivice as she looked up at Ryouta with a grin. If he had noticed her early moment of weakness then it would be clear that it seemed to have passed, color was returning rather rapidly to her face as she lifted the digivice and her hands only trembled a little.
“Did you hear that?! It’s not dead! Maybe that’s a good sign the mon attached isn’t either!” Cheer wound its way around each of her words despite the fact that the screen on the plot device still remained blank.

"...What the hell are you thinking, you think I'll drop my pants and show it to you? No, seriously, no. That's a sexual harassment over there! You should be ashamed if that's what you're thinking!"
..Now come the stupid question. Ryouta seriously wondered if he's the only stupid guy here or this woman actually just doesn't really have a common sense? Then again it's probably bias because of her weird mind sharing what it thought. "For one, the Trailmon would be toppled, or heck tossed to the walls. Human inside it would die and then we'll all charged for irresponsible driving and manslaughter probably." All of this is spoken in absolute monotone. "Are you seriously thinking that broken window is something to be concerned when you can practically kill people?"
Barrage of thing doesn't seem to smooth thing over but made Ryouta question about Hiroyo's intellect instead.
Being currently a Digimon...or actually, Ryouta doesn't even really care about the sensation because he's way used to it, the boy just looked at Hiroyo when the unmistakable sound of DIgivice beeping could be heard. Huh, so it's not dead afterall...
"...Try to check if the display is still active... and see if we can get any clue from that device."

Hiroyo briefly thought about making another quip then ruthlessly slaughtered the thought. Instead she contented herself with finishing off her pudding and having a smile that was more smirk like than it should be. His age was a lot more obvious when she wound him up, but she realized maybe she should stop before he had a heart attack from the stress.
Her face scrunched angrily as he not so indirindirectly insulted her intelligence and she reconsidered not making a snarling comment. "Hey, just because it's normal for you to hang out with a super speedy train doesn't mean other people have the same experience! I've never even been on a super sonic train before!"
Before even the residue of the weird spell had faded away entirely, Hiroyo was all about investigating the digivice. "That means there's a good chance the digimon associated with this is still alive, right?" She asked, hope twining around her words like a vine wrapping around a trellis. Her fingers were quick to prod at the buttons variety of combinations u til finally she was rewarded with a rather reluctant beep.
"Aha! Look! Two dots! Um, does that mean anything to you?" She held out the device so he could see the screen where two clusters of pixels expanded a set amount then contracted, over and over in the same set rhythm.
Almost a pair of twinned heartbeats.

"I dunno, I mean, I think people normally already know about sonic boom from physic textbook in eleventh grade?" he answered pointedly. Payback from before, huh, Ryouta? "Then again who am I to say. I'm not even at eleventh grade. I'm actually quitting school at 15!"
Well, at least this is a clue. Ryouta was a bit reluctant to nod, but after seeing the two dots, he nodded without any sort of doubt. "Could possibly be. Still... is the map function of this thing a bit broken? I don't see any contour whatsoever..." he muttered. "...Well, just to be sure, let's just ask Andromon. At least this is a clue... 90% chance that it's them."
"We've arrived in Terminus," Ilbert suddenly declared. Out from the futuristic station, one could see the more futuristic city that is Terminus, filled with both human and Digimon alike. Ilbert lowered his speed down and instead take a hike to the air in order to avoid the crowd.

Hiroyo's face squished in annoyance as he made her point. So she maybe hadn't paid as much attention in that particular class as she should have, that didn't make her stupid! She opened her mouth to argue then shoved the last of the pudding in instead. It was best if she let it go as she had already promised herself! It was hard but she forced herself to bite her tongue.
Luckily the crossover into the digital world ended the need for her to worry about it.
"They? So there was more than one digimon that was partnered with him?" Her voiced trailed off towards the end as she sunk into thought. How would she explain to them why their original partner wasn't there? How could she explain the reason for his absence to them? She shook herself out of it reached up to readjust her hat when it threatened to fly off. No point in worrying about t hat now! She still had to find them first!
"Aha! This is where it really begins!" She said cheerfully, her face turned to the nearest window. She could already see a variety of shapes and colors outside..was that an orange tyrannosaurus she saw? How cool! The architecture and everything was different than anything she had see before as well, it really felt like a different world. "I'm ready to go!"

"Well, unless it's broken, there are two dots, which means that's two Digimons over there," Ryouta explained. "What makes me curious though is the fact that it activates even when the original owner is no longer in this world... If what I thought is right, then it's practically yours.... To think that's even possible..."
Ryouta was a bit lost in his thought. Then is it possible for a Digimon to pass from a partner to another without rebooting? How... how complex if he have to say... Now that he already all well and doesn't seem to feel as pained, he dissolved the armatization and returned back to normal. Ryu sat on one of the chair while waiting for the train to go to Terminus Mall. As expected, the way there is pretty crowded. Ilbert circled the mall building until he found a place for them to disembark, the second floor of the building. Both Ryouta and Ryu jumped down from the train.
"C'mon. The mall is really huge, so make sure you always stay close to me."

A thoughtful hum came from Hiroyo as she stroked her finger along the top of the device and pulled it close to her chest. "Ah, I don't really understand what you mean, I'm just happy it isn't dead. I wasn't confident enough to pry it open to change the batteries. I didn't want anyone else to try either." She admitted as she carefully tucked the device in her bag. She was glad they were heading to someone she could trust to treat it properly!
Hiroyo looked from the second floor to the minuscule gap in between. They weren't super high up but wasn't this still rather ridiculous? She sighed and shook her head, looking up again with a grin to hide her nervousness. She still wasn't feeling a hundred percent after the random attack earlier but even with that a tiny gap like this shouldn't be an issue!
"Ha-ha! If I slip you'd better catch me!" She declared cheerfully and checked once again to make sure her purse was closed securely before she took a couple steps back before rushing forward and making her leap. She made the gap easily of course, it was such a small thing.
Elsewhere inside the mall Andromon took inventory, carefully counting up his stock and marking off his supplies on a clipboard.

Ryouta staggered at the comment and just stared at her unblinkingly. "...How many times should I tell you that they got no battery? They don't work with battery, and will always work normally... I have seen someone shouting their digivice broken when it entered the water, but I don't even know how the hell does that works because mine has seen worse to wear."
Then again the moment Hiroyo commented about being slipping, Ryouta just grinned. "Well, if that's the case you should've asked for Ilbert to let out his stairs duh. No need to jump down like us just because you feel like to." This time around he purposely omitted his thought that she probably couldn't jump as well as he does because her short feet, but then again, Ryu did better... Oh well, Digimon he guess.
"Well then, let's go."
Ryouta walked slower just in case, heading toward the stall.Inside, the hustle bustle is really impressive. He had no idea why it came to this but it just happened. From mercenary to other thing... well, it's complicated he guess. However, he already set his goal to the Andromon. He sat on the front of the counter. "'xcuse me. I have something that I need to consult, please."

"I know that now!" Hiroyo protested. "I'm talking about before I met you. Closer to when ... the original holder passed away." Despite the hesitation in her words she still wore a smile on her face and a cheerful note in her tone. Something about actually following up on the digivice and those associated with it made her feel better. She laughed a little at the memory of how frantic she had been. “At that point I didn’t know anything at all! I trekked all over looking for someone who could tell me about it.”
Hiroyo was quite content to stick close to Ryouta and Ryu. The mall was ridiculously massive, and now that she was among the crowds she could see why. Her eyes were bouncing around fas she took in all the shapes and colors of the other shoppers. There was the occasionally human here and there but they were less interesting to her. She had to admit Ryouta was right when he had said she probably wouldn’t understand it until she saw it.
Nothing could have prepared her for this except maybe a certain popular video game she saw adverts for from time to time.
Suddenly a certain type of shop caught her eye and a mischievous grin stretched across Hiroyo’s face. It was obvious the wares weren’t meant for humans but that didn’t mean she couldn’t tease Ryouta about it!
“Hey, hey, I spy a hat shop! Ryu! You would look suuuuper cute in a beanie!” She said, pointing to a store across from the store they were apparently going into? Huh, that was fast! She followed him into the store while reaching up to adjust her own hat.
Andromon looked up as the trio entered the shop, a friendly smile on his face as he listened to Ryouta's request. “Welcome! I of course would be happy to assist. May I please?” He asked, stowing his clipboard under the counter as he mentally wondered what new hellish issue he’d be asked to fix now. Humans always seemed to be breaking their digivices in new and weird ways and while he didn’t necessarily mind it, new problems kept the mind fresh!, it could be a hassle if the customer wasn’t patient.
Hiroyo had followed in almost on Ryouta’s heels. Now she pulled her purse around in front of her and opened it up. Digging through her purse was better than looking at Andromon! She got such a creepy feeling from the wasted looking flesh with the various wires and metal bits poking in and out of it. Still, she had to be professional and she would! It wasn’t good to judge by appearances after all!
But man was it hard to ignore the way her skin crawled.
“Um! It’s this one! It use to belong to a friend but he gave it to me and it wasn’t doing anything for years and then he brought me here and it beeped on the way here? And now it has these two little dots that move and i felt really weird when it happened but it’s probably just because I’ve never made a trip here before.” She abruptly shut up, her face flushing red as she realized how she had been chattering on in a rather roundabout and confusing fashion. Now that they were here and there was someone who knew what they were doing with it she found herself suddenly nervous.
Andromon’s impassive face turned from Hiroyo to Ryouta as if to silently ask if she was always this way.
“Very well. Already this case seems highly unusual. I will need to conduct a preliminary examination before I can provide you with a diagnosis and recommended plan of action. You said you were not the original owner, correct?” He said as he turned his head back to Hiroyo and held out his hand. That was a rather unusual thing to hear, he wanted to be sure he had heard correctly. There were cases of humans deciding to never return to the digital world again but it wasn’t like they just handed them over to him.
“Yeah, it belonged to a friend who passed away somewhat recently. I didn’t know what it was until I ran into Ryouta here,” She stopped her digging long enough to jerk a thumb at her bodyguard. “And he explained what it was. It was...inactive until I met him. Then his device beeped at mine but mine didn’t activate until I crossed into the Digital World.” She clarified, finally straightening up with her digivice in hand. She reached out and carefully placed on Andromon’s hand, her fingers lingering on the case before she finally let go.
The machine digimon smiled and inclined his head towards her in acknowledgement. He raised the digivice to his face, small clicks and ticks sounding as his eyes adjusted and focused on it. “Hmm, I believe I’ve heard the name Ryouta before. Forgive me sir for not recognizing you immediately if you were a previous customer, normally I’m quite good at remembering people but I fear business has been busier than late.” He said, holding up his other hand so that one of the fingers bent backwards, revealing a hole from which a multitude of wires swarmed up and around the digivice from.
Hiroyo cringed at the sight as they swarmed around and plugged in.

Ryouta sighed and flipped his Digivice over so the back is facing him. Slowly, the boy just trailed for any sign of bolts, only came back as negative. He decided that perhaps Hiroyo just haven't really paid full attention to it for being frazzled back then. Oh well. In the mall, though, Ryouta just give Hiroyo his patented bitchface number 11. While he doesn't mind that Ryu becomes cute, he's just shot her a warning.
"We can go there after the consultation but I'll just warn you. You look over there, you'll go blind. You enter there, your wallet gonna cry even further,"
Meanwhile, Ryu just chuckled at the banter between the two. No matter what, they really sounds like a brother and sister... albeit one that's a bit vitriolic, but they somehow hits it off very well!
The moment they finally seated in front of Andromon, Ryouta let the woman talk whatever happened... although it's seem that Andromon was rather perturbed by the girl's sudden burst of verbal explanation-that's-not-quite-explanation? Ryouta, upon seeing that face only can look aside and try to not to laugh. He believed that alone is enough of an answer for the guy.
"Well, what she said so far is truth, yes." Ryouta verified. "It actually also kind of interest me as of how a Digivice belonged to someone could suddenly pass ownership just like that... because you're the pro about Digivices, I kinda want to... ask you if it's possible to check whether the ownership really transferred without hitch."
Andromon apologized to him, but Ryouta just shook his head. "It's alright. I don't mind. I'm probably just here for RAM Upgrades most of the time anyway."
Still, when Hiroyo cringed, Ryouta jabbed her side with a finger, giving her an admonishing look. Ryu that saw this only smiled as if he enjoyed their banter.

The smile on Hiroyo's face stretched a little too far and a little too stiffly to be 'happy'. It was obvious what he was implying with his movements and she really didn't appreciate it! "You're being really rude you know! There's alarm clocks where you have to slide off a piece of plastic that's not attached with screws or anything! It slots in an you have have to unscrew anything." She said. "It's not hard to understand why I thought that was the case with these things!"
Hiroyo's face scrunched with annoyance at Ryouta's comments about the hat store. "hey hey, no one asked you anything about what you thought about the shop! Ryu! You're the one we'd be getting a hat for, what do you think? We can just window shop too!" Oh boy, she was getting really riled up about this judging by the sweeping arm motions she made.
At least she looked sheepish when Ryouta poked her. Her mouth tightened into a line as she looked away. She couldn't help it! Watching the wires writhe around like that, the contrast of still metal against moving flesh... it made her skin crawl!
"I see, well thank you for your understanding and continued patronage." Andromon said, his attention still on the device in his hands. Lines of code could be seen scrolling across his pupils as he considered Ryouta's information. At least one of the two made sense. "It would be strange for that to be the case..." He mused as he dug through the data. It almost felt like the device was not... fighting him, but it was certainly being difficult!
"There are some who say that digivices inherit a little of their bearer's personality." He personally didn't believe it was anything quite that spiritual, humans simply changed things to suit their needs. Like rearranging furniture in a room. Of course, no tamer he had talked to had said they directly messed with their digivice when they brought it to him. He knew it didn't mean they were lying though! It was, perhaps, a completely unconscious act on their part.
"You are correct in thinking that it hasn't reset, at least not completely. At the moment it appears to be following emergency protocols to safeguard the existence of the digimon attached to this device and nothing more." He pulled the wires free with a pop and they retracted back into the finger they had come from. "I do not know the parameters to allow a new tamer to gain full access to the features of this device. At the moment it is best to think of it as unreliable and acting on its own will. At the moment it is appears to be reaching out for the two who draw their powers from this." His expression was serious through out the explanation and he fixed all both humans with a warning look. "I advise against initiating a hard reset unless all three, digimon and device, are present and willing."

"Well, like I said before, each model are different... I want to see if mine really could slide or have anything to fit battery into... How different are yours to mine anyway, discounting the shell? We had no idea, so really, I just wondering if mine also could have those, but nope. In fact, I don't even know how it's manufactured. It felt like if the pin broke then that's the end of it... luckily, it haven't so far."
Hiroyo seem to be awfully defensive about her hat hobbies doesn't she? Ryouta just gave her a completely distrusting stare. "...Well, I'm sorry, I honestly saw you came with hats, hats of all thing, and not the foldable type, not inside your suitcase but in a specialized boxes. Of course my mind gonna say 'sure, you'll come there and then forgot you even have debt and pile more debts by entering that store'... Am I wrong, though?"
Ryu meanwhile just chuckled again and shook his head. "Nah, hats is not something I'm into, especially with these horns."
Andromon's explanation complete with jargons made Ryouta wonder if Hiroyo gonna understand, but at the same time, he understand. He know what this means. "...So that means the device is still working and hardwired to the guy... even in his passing. Well, not exactly hardwired I guess, considering that it's in emergency protocol... Understood. Once we found the partners, we'll most likely bring them and the device back to you just in case, so a better alternative could be found."
With that being said...
"...So are you still going to windowshop at that hat store?"
Ryouta, you're too blunt.

"I suppose that's fair.” She said, reaching up to tug the brim of her hat again. “Its like cellphones! You might have the same model as someone else but you probably have different apps! Although I guess in this case the hardware is different huh?” She giggled, pleased with herself for coming up with what she thought was a good analogy. “Are there other styles of digivices? I've only seen the one kind so…”
Ah! He was on about her hats again! Rather than getting mad immediately she took a moment to tell herself to think of it as a learning opportunity. For him, obviously. “Hats are one of the most useful accessories out there! Think about it, unlike bracelets or necklaces they have actual functional value! A sun hat like this,” she gestured to the one she currently wore, her voice in a lecture like tone despite the friendliness in her voice. He was in for a looong rant. “keeps the sun out of my eyes from all angles! It's also large enough that it protects everything from the neck up from getting sunburned. Even better is that with its white base I can swap out the ribbon to a different color and match it to multiple outfits! It also keeps my hair out of my eyes!” She took a breath to say more but stopped when Ryu spoke up.
“Fair enough! There are hats you could wear despite the horns but If it's not your thing it's not your thing!” Hiroyo replied cheerful. In fact, one might say her tone was a little too cheerful but she was definitely too hat obsessed to plot anything!
Especially anything related to the amusing mental image of Ryu in a bright green visor calling numbers for bingo. The right side of her smile visibly twitched as she tried not to giggle. The key to successful shenanigans was making sure people didn't know you were planning those shenanigans after all!
Hanging around someone as perceptive as Ryouta seemed to be only added to that challenge.
Truthfully Hiroyo was not super great with electronics. Oh sure she could zip around on social media with the expertise one would expect from a youth but that was a whole different beast from knowing how to open up task manager or knowing the usefulness of it. She was lost during Andromon’s explanation but didn't want to speak up and some of that must have shown in on her face when she took the device back from the machine digimon, for Ryouta reiterated what had been said. She was relieved, and she only twitched a little when her fingers touched Andromon’s cold metal claws.
“Yes, that is the heart of the matter. I'll be better able to determine how to trigger the reset when you return.” He pauses a moment, his eyes sliding from Ryouta’s face to where Hiroyo was cradling the digivice like it was made of glass. “I must admit, I've never heard of ownership being transferred before so I'm unsure what, exactly, will transpire.”
Hiroyo could understand that much of what he had said at least. The expert didn't know what the future would hold and she didn't know if she could follow through. For some reason her mind was conjuring up a sense of dread at the word ‘reset’ and it was making her uneasy.
“Thank you for your help!” She cried, closing her hands together in front of her and giving a quick bow to Andromon. She had to get out, she had to move! As she straightened up she immediately spun on her heels and rushed out of the shop to put her back against the wall next to the door frame and suck in air like she’d been drowning.
Andromon’s mouth twitched as he watched her flew the store. The sound of gears and tiny motors sounded as he moved his head to face Ryouta more directly. “I would promise it is not as dire a situation as she thinks it is but that would be a lie. I do not know what the reset will take exactly, things are never simple when emotional bonds are at stake. I fear the consequences will be dire if the reset is not completed.” He pauses to clear his throat. “I will also say this: my surveying of the digivice’s memory indicated that at some point in time it was used to bolster evolution to the champion stage. It was heavily encrypted data so I could not get more details beyond that.” Maybe it would be useful to the experienced human.
Outside Hiroyo straightened from her slouch against the wall immediately when her bodyguards walked out, a big grin plastering itself on her face. “Oooh, are you doubting my ability to not buy a hat?” She replied. “Honestly I wouldn't mind walking around the mall in general. Are there any stores here you consider important for a partnered human to know about? Might as well show me where they are now, right?”
(On phone so no pretty speaking colors.)
