Funny how some things couldn't be resolved after all this time. In fact, the Owryumon sometimes felt like she was undoing progress rather than doing it. Her search had ground to a disgusting halt, and she really really really disliked that.
Sure, her best friend's welfare had been in jeopardy some time ago, and they were still getting better from that situation that wasn't really a nice one, but Penélope herself had never been somebody with a lot of patience. She wanted answers, and she wanted them now.
Her information thus far had revealed that whoever had been behind those shady attacks hadn't been that Doumon, at least at the head. While he was a relatively powerful agent, just like that MetalTyrannomon, it still wasn't the brains. Penny wanted to lay waste to the whole operation; to dismantle it forever, so to say.
And her clues had paved the way here. This old tunnel in Spartan Training grounds. This place... phew, it brought some memories up. The last time she had been here felt like lifetimes ago, and both fond and not to fond memories accompanied her through this small cave. Maybe here she'd find the answers for her questions. She certainly hoped that.

Since that day, he never really returned to Yuu's house. Is he simply avoiding Mana, or is he actually just got out to give the girl some time? Whatever the case was, even the guy have a time for melancholy. He jumped down from Ilbert's compartment and walked with Ryu.
"Thanks for the ride, Ilbert."
"Young master," the butler holography bowed at him "are you sure that you don't want me to come with you?"
"That's not necessary. I'm just here for some nostalgia."
Come to think of it... he came down from the Trailmon, with more exposing clothes. The girl who was him back then, she immediately blushed and he's being really dumb and dense about it. Remembering that made him snort, yet his heart also ached. A pang of both guilt and anger struck his heart. While he hoped that he and the girl could reunite again and resume their relationship, he's not one that would hope everything gonna stay the same. Not after the last fiasco.
"...Aniki..."
Even Ryu who saw the sight of his partner like that looks really worried.

It was fun how the old place where she used to train on her youth was right now just a ruin; a memory of better, more tranquil times. Sometimes, she couldn't but wonder what would have happened, should she have chosen to remain in this place instead of follow what were her dreams at that time; she wanted to become stronger; to be a digimon worth of respect and that could defend the ones she cared about the most in the future. Basically, it was the desire for her to stand on her own two feet. She knew that sometimes, you had to depend on others, but she wanted to be dependable too.
Looking back, the progress she had went through was impressive, even if it had come with some dire implications. The tale of Zephyrus had been a really dangerous episode, just like what had resulted on Mana and Ayaka's loss of memory. Curious, just how as she became stronger, things became progressively more difficult.
Maybe she was being too strict with herself? Well, that had always been the case, but even when she was younger, she never felt things were out of her reach, just like she felt right now. Taking a breather was probably a good idea.

He remembered the time where he spend several blissful moment of his life here on one of the tent available... Here, he start to understood his feeling toward Mana... He loves her... but at that time, she belonged to someone else. Someone else that she even talk about with such a tone that could be said like a happy girl... yet at the same time, he knew. He knew that she wanted something more... and he exploited it. Come to think of it, maybe this is karma? Whatever the case was... this place has gotten abandoned.
"...Aniki..."
"It's OK, Ryu."
Ryouta followed the route that a certain someone showed him back then. He walked down the stairs to the underground tunnel. This is the place where they got in a really perilous trouble, one that made some of them nearly died that day. Ryu was still so weak. When the other can reach Perfect, Ryu is just an adult. They faced Dark Tyranomon and several mooks Black Agumons.
And today, Ryu returned here, as the peak of the Digimon evolution line. Somehow, a nostalgic tear trickled down the boy's face as he smiled. "...Dangit... afterall, I'm still weak. No matter how much I faced battles to death, I'm still a weak guy deep down..."
Time separated them... he wasn't even there to help her fighting Zephyrus. It's annoying, he felt so frustrated at his powerlessness. And now when he got strength, he must face the cruel consequence that she even forgotten about him.
"...Aniki."
"...Yeah, don't worry, I heard that."
Ryu quickly evolved to Slayerdramon. He felt presence of another party here somewhere... but he can't pinpoint who. All he know is that it could be dangerous. Both of them ready to evolve to the next stage if needed.

Well, enough was enough. Soon enough, the Owryumon found herself treading forward, advancing through the tunnel into what lied beyond. If memory served her right, what was next was a small opening, like a cave of sorts. She remembered that place all too vividly; there was when they made their stand. A valiant effort that she had thought was in vain; there, she also had confessed her feelings her crush at a time, just to crash headfirst into something she couldn't have predicted, or even guessed about. Still, the past was the past.
Now that she was there, one question remained. How had the enemies managed to pour so quickly? There must've been some kind of passage, or anything that had helped them gain a foothold on this tunnels so quickly. Otherwise, the whole plan just didn't make sense; Penny had thought about it, and even talked with Ayaka on more than one occasion about it, both arriving at the same conclusion.
However, Ayaka wasn't in this place right now; she was on her own, and frankly, preferred for it to be that way. This was her business, and her friends butting in would make for... a weird experience, in all honesty.

They moved deeper, deeper to the area where the battle takes place. The place where the Dinohumon boasted that the place would even withstand the attack from Metal Greymon. There are other presence here... who? Ryu who start to sniff around began to pick up a familiar signature. Without even giving explanation to Ryouta, he increased his speed. Ryouta understood that immediately. He know that this must be either urgent or something else... Something that made him to get this excited.
"...I knew it," the voice of the Slayerdramon is far deeper, far mature compared to when he's a Dracomon. He already saw silhouette of a big dragon, but he didn't dare to make guess... until he smelled her scent.
"...Long time no see, Penny," he greeted. Ryouta came few seconds after. This is Penny? Why isn't she with Ayaka or Mana? Could it probably that she hatched before Ayaka and because being in unfamiliar situation is awkward for her, she decided to separate for them for a while?

It wasn't long before the sound of steps came coming over from behind; Penny herself had caught the scent some time before, but had decided not to act on it; in all honesty, it was different from the last time she had smelled it. Wonder how those two might've changed since the last time they had seen each other.
They had quickened their pace some time ago; maybe they had finally realized she was here? That was a pretty good theory; one she found out about as soon as she saw Slayerdramon's visage. This definitely was Ryu.
The armored dragon smiled with a fair amount of craftiness at the sight, her elongated body standing at its full height as soon he arrived. "Pretty much; long time no see, guys." As much as she was glad to see some familiar faces in this place, there was still a question that lingered. "I'll skip the pleasantries and cut straight to the chase; what are you doing on this place? More importantly, why aren't you guys with them? Could have thought you were inseparable or something."
Maybe Penny was hitting a nerve right now, but those questions surely intrigued her. Funny how they have decided to return here at the same time.

"...Could've asked you the same, but I think you already know," Ryu commented about being together. Ryouta simply sighed. "...So the thing is... Aniki and Mana-chan... is not in the best relationship for now. They... started worse than left foot start, if you understand what I mean? Basica-"
"Basically, she's amnesic," Ryouta interjected, then put his hands on his pocket "and I'm too focused on getting back to her, so much that I forgot to stop and think that she's not the Mana I used to know. I treated her like the old Mana... and at times trying to evade telling her about Charles... but it ends to her and me getting... well, you know," he sighed. "...And plus, I should ask you the same why you're not with them, just like what Ryu pointed out. Did Suzuran annoyed you?"
And then.... for the other question...
"We're here for nostalgia," Ryu answered "well, not me, but... Aniki does. At the same time, I don't believe you're here for nostalgia. Something is afoot, yes? Especially if you're in that form." Assessment that might be true or semi-true, at least what the Slayerdramon thought.

"I knew as much." The dragon replied, obviously having knowledge of Mana's memory loss. What she hadn't expected was them having a bad relationship. Surprising. "Guess he tried to be too direct too fast? Not an expert in any way, but I'd have taken it slow. Still, guess you were bound to be... irked out by a certain newcomer, wouldn't you? Sometimes I can't believe that girl's Ayaka's older sister."
It was obvious that Penny wasn't really fond about Suzuran, pretty much indirectly answering that question. "Yet, that's not why I'm not with them. I'm here to tend to... a personal matter, so to say."
This is when she had to ask herself if the duo was trustworthy or not. Their motives seemed to be superfluous at best, so if they truly just wished to relive old memories, that would do. And if they wanted to come with her... she wouldn't complain either. "I'll just be on my way, then. Don't dwell too much in your memories; absorting yourself in the past when the future's out there is bound to not to be that healthy."
Saying those words, The Owryumon went on her way. Maybe there was some kind of... hidden passage or something over here? That'd make sense.

"So you're irked," Ryouta commented, chuckling. "Well, that's true that rather than grace that Ayaka shows, Suzuran seem to hellbent to show cockiness instead that she calls pride or whatever. For many reason more than one it just put deeper emphasis on Ayaka's magnamity though. Ah, you know, the fun fact is Isana said that Suzuran is the younger one." The said plant mercenary unfortunately not present due to unforseen circumstances. Even to Ryouta it's a bit surprising that she said she wanted to stay in the train and wish him goodluck. However, it might be related to her new form. Unlike normal, she suddenly jump straight to Perfect stage. It apparently would took a while for her data to stabilize.
"Personal matter," Ryu repeated "sounds like something that we could help?"
"Since when are you so meddling like this? That's so out of character. Trying to impress your crush?" Ryouta teased, nudging the dragon on his rib.
"T-that's not the case!"
Still easy to fluster, good ol' Ryu. Still, the moment Penny doesn't call Ayaka with Ayaka-sama, Ryouta felt something a bit wrong. "...By the way, do you dissolve your contract with Ayaka?" he asked. "If it's this serious, you can't hope us to not help you in some way, right? Was it related to the event from back then?"
Ryouta came to the most plausible conclusion for him. He had no idea whether his question struck the mark or not, though.

Penny's expression belied pretty much that Suzuran wasn't... somebody she appreciated, or at least that she'd want for a friend. Ugh, she knew for sure that Suzuran herself didn't want to be friends with her. That girl was just... abrasive. "That attitude won't have nice repercussions in the future, but who am I to give advice about that."
Lest to say, she didn't want to delve on the topic too much. How the sisters got along with each other and with the beings around them was not her business, and a secondary worry at best right now. What surprised her, however, was the desire to Ryu had shown to help her. Teasing aside, she appreciated the gesture. "Sure, if you guys wanna follow me, I won't complain. I'm searching for a secret passage of sorts, you know, kinda like an escape route. Have you stumbled into anything suspicious thus far? That'd help."
Ryouta's words, though. Right now she wasn't up for a long explanation. Sighing a little bit, she did began to think on the quickest way to answer those. "There's no such thing such as a contract between us; we're friends, you know? They know I'm away at the moment. And I'm not sure about that last one. Maybe, maybe not."

"She wouldn't hear you. If she wouldn't even hear her mother, why would she even hear plebeian like us?" Ryouta commented, chuckling slightly.
"Hmm, something odd?" Ryu repeated, then thought about it pensively. "...I have to say, that there are nothing so far... just... getting in the entrance and that's all... almost that's all, honestly. Not even a strange corridor, it's exactly what we saw back then. Hmmm... But back then the attack came from the main entrance, right?"
Ryouta also remembered that part. They poured from the main entrance. Putting aside about Penny's answer, he decided to also think about it.
"If only Yuuki's here, he'll probably find that secret door in few seconds. Sorry that you got stuck with an idiot like me, Penny... Still, this is just my opinion, but... Is it possible that there are other entrance than the one we pass through from? The secret passage might not be openable from this side, but from that side... Ngggh, if only Isana is here... we could have it easier to look for the entrance..."

Deciding that talking about Suzuran wasn't a topic with much of a point, Penny just decided the topic to let slide; she couldn't care less about the views of a snobby fairy, in all honesty. Right now, the matter at hand seemed to be way more urgent... and dangerous.
"No clue?" Well, that was a bit to be expected, even if somewhat disappointing. "Oh well, if you guys wanna help me search, I'm all in for some extra hands and eyes. Those definitely never hurt." The Owryumon began to think about this. Yeah, the enemies have poured down the entrance, but that meant that the initial conflux had come from somewhere. She was sure that whoever had plotted that had more in mind that some random, frontal attack; after all, if it was just that, the whole plot hadn't been all that simpler, even if not necessarily less lethal. "Try to focus on the situation itself, no on the events that transpired that day. Think about it and tell me it wasn't something fishy. I'm sure the answers about it are somewhere..."
Just as she said those words, the palm of her hand softly slid inside what seemed to be a solid wall. A switch? Interesting.

Ryouta thoughts about it once again. What happened on that day? The situation is fishy and not what happened? Well, it sure is... "...I can't put my finger on it, but everything seem to be fishy. It's too good to be true... it's too complex even for revenge..."
"First ...Dinohumon gone away... gone and seem to hand something so important to bunch of child stage without proper supervisor. Had you did not evolve to Adult stage, then it's practically an abandonment. There could be a chance that the Renamon mercenary is the one who eliminate the second supervisor, but thinking about it... you're not told about the existence of second supervisor even if it exists. That's suspicious." Ryouta voices his thoughts out loud.
"...And the force that come to annihilate the training ground trainee was absurdly overequipped. No matter how you see it, three adult stage and one perfect stage is overkill just to deal with bunch of kids. Even backups like me and Mana back then are wild cards that you can't even really factor as a dependable helping hand. From what happened back then, they don't even know our full fighting potential, so it's unlikely for them to suddenly decide to supply those Dark Tyranomon just for us."
...The whole situation itself is fishy.
"...Come to think of it, I never told you that there are Kokuwamon when the camp was attacked, didn't I? They was scouting or something..."
While Ryouta was busy musing about it, it's seem Penny managed to find something.
"...Did you found something?" Ryu asked.

Soon enough, the dragon found herself nodding to Ryouta's assessment. "Exactly. I've thought about it over and over again, and no matter how much I tried to, it just didn't make sense. Why would such a large force be so concerned about wiping out trainees, of all things? We didn't have anything of importance except for out equipment, and that wasn't all that important in first place. So, I've asked myself; "maybe they were searching for something else?" and that led me here. There's probably something long-forgotten hidden here, and the digimons who went to this place just wanted to get a hold of it by any means possible. With any luck, it hasn't been found yet." If somebody with that much power and those methods was interested in such an item, it was probably for the best to not to let them have it. It was a slim possibility, but it was one worth searching for.
The switch gave way to Penny's limb, who pressed it gently until a click was heard. Soon enough, a previously invisible opening appeared right besides her. Funny how she hadn't taken notice of it ever before. "Seems like this is worth searching for. Are you in?"
