Sol chuckled to himself as Isaac waved off the whole mess now that the misunderstanding was cleared up. The dragon smiled after that and waved a hand. ”Well then. Maybe one day I’ll give you a crash course in both cold reading and how to counter it.” That would be quite the thing to be honest. It’s just… I frankly couldn’t imagine pulling off a poker face to save his life. I mean, there’s probably something where he’s managed to pull off some acting, but a straight up not showing any emotion whatsoever? Nope, nada, can’t see it. Maybe I’ll be shown up one day though.
”Well… even if this is a temporary thing and something we’ll just plain write off because of your manipulations when it’s all said and done… well, I’m glad we got to meet those we’ve been writing about for this long.” I sighed softly and smiled to Alicia. ”Stay strong, alright? Life has so many ups and downs.”
“And you’re totally not saying that in the hopes I’ll forgive you for whatever you’ve got planned, right?” Alicia shot at me with another small glare. I couldn’t help but wince at it and sigh. “I suppose It can’t all be sunshine and roses though. And I get the feeling you won’t let me stay at rock bottom, even if it would be enough to do that to just about anyone else.”
I shrugged and smiled sadly at her. Maybe I should go back to my initial idea. Less sense would be made, yes, but still…
”Ah, Sol, our window of opportunity is closing. The dimensional barriers are starting to fall out of alignment. We probably only have ten minutes left before our friends here wind up trapped.” Kisara quipped off hand. Sol, to his credit, just nodded.
”I’ve been keeping a good eye on it, but thank you for the reminder. I suppose it’s time for our final goodbyes then. If there’s anything anyone wants to say at the last minute, now is the time.” Already, I could see sparks build around the dragon. More pointedly, a deep, rumbling ‘thrum’ of… something was starting to build up and my eyes went wide. On further consideration, that could only be the sound of Sol winding up vast amounts of arcane and psionic might, enough to force a crossing of the boundaries for those who were themselves incapable of it, something that generally required lots of preparation before hand.
Once more I even found myself floored by just how much power my longest running character truly wielded. It always beggared the imagination. Still, final words huh…? Alicia and I looked at each other one more time, and the Steel Spirit Wielder shrugged with a smile.
“Stay safe.”
”Right back at you… firecracker.”
Alicia nearly face fell at that. “H-H-Hey! What was th-” She cut herself off with an embarrassed and irritated huff. “Jeremy had it coming anyways...” she finally added in a near whisper. For context, it was one of Alicia’s methods of revenge on her brother, setting a fire cracker off right behind the brother in question to spook him with the unexpected ‘bang!’ Ever since, though, if he wanted to tease her, he called her ‘firecracker’ in reference to the event.
