Glad that all of them agreed with her summary of their plan, they proceeded through the foggy labyrinth as they approached the enemies ahead, not yet knowing what dangers they would face. In preparation for it, the Sagitamon already readied her bow, wondering if it was already time to test out her new powers. Unlike her though, someone did not hesitate and immediately transformed into a Greymon, standing strong and tall. "Perfect." She commented, considering the big reptile digimon exactly what she ahd asked for; a big sentinel to keep her save.
Valeria rushed forward, naive and eager to enter a battle. And that was exactly what she would receive, as a Mothmon and a Zassoumon immediately turned hostile and attacked it. Both were Champion digimons, so not the biggest challenge they had to overcome. In fact, the Sagitamon did not even have to unleash her hidden potential and simply decided to remain in the form she currently was. Seeing Valeria getting attacked however made her nod and get serious, choosing to not heal her in the middle of combat but to wait afterwards.
"Translucent Vortex!" She would bellow as her hand got engulfed in white light. Immediately afterwards, a white singularity formed itself aroud the Zassoumon, slightly lifting it off the ground and rendering all of its attempts to move futile. For the rest of his team, it should be an easy target now, but that was far from all. Violent surges were emitted by the vortex, heavy winds lashing everything in a wide area around her target. If nothing else, that should make it much more difficult for the Mothmon to keep its flight and aim steady.
Deciding that it was too tight to risk an attack with her bow, she did not do so and instead turned to face the Graymon, motioning it with a pretty please to lift her up his head. The view would be a great tactical advantage, and certainly her slender, gracile figure would not impose any problem on its strong, hulking body, now would it?

Well, things were indeed beginning to heat up for the ragtag team of humans and Digimon. John watched with anticipation as the source, or rather, sources of the noise up ahead made themselves known. Two Digimon arrived on the scene with the intent to harm John and the others. John deduced that the Mothmon and Zassoumon were native to Tyrant's Labyrinth. It was odd that they chose to appear now as the group did not gather much attention up until now. What could have given away their position?
The human glanced down to the black data that pooled on the floor of the maze. Just looking at the stuff made John's stomach want to turn. By now it appeared like he was wading in black smoke, and he could barely see the ground where his feet lay. While he thought about it, the human realized that the two Digimon didn't arrive until the black data swirled around them. Maybe it was just a coincidence? He did admittedly feel a bit sorry for such a flashy Digivolution. He'd take some of the team's reactions with a grain of salt and learn from the experience.
So far the group had everything perfectly under control. Valeria and Isaac took a more direct approach and charged forward to take the attackers head-on. Meanwhile, the others stayed behind, and Cion utilized one of her attacks to render the Zassoumon useless. Casimeir prepped himself to attack, but not before Cion caught the big dinosaur's attention. The Greymon peered down to Cion, and happily obliged to her request. He positioned himself low to the ground to make it easy for Cion to hop on. "John, you wanna get on the Greymon Express, too?" He figured that John would want a good vantage point.
John grinned and nodded once. "Heck yeah, big guy!" he enthused, right before he climbed up the Greymon's side and mounted onto his neck at the base of Casimeir's natural helmet. Once the two were settled, the dinosaur Digimon got back up at his full height. From here, John saw the wall of thorns that lay up ahead. He strained his eyes to observe it and caught a glimpse of some purple liquid dripping from the wall. "Hey, Cas, you see that wall of thorns?"
Casimeir smirked a bit. "Way ahead of you, John." He built up some fire in his mouth before launching a fireball toward the top of the wall that blocked their path. In this manner, he would avoid hitting the others on the mission. "Nova Flame!"

Of Ami, Valeria, and Koneka, only Valeria had charged headlong towards the forest, and lo and behold there was a resistance there to meet her! On the run up, it seemed that the NeoDevimon had taken to follow her, presumably to try and sneak up on the enemy. Honestly, this world work well enough, though as Valeria broke through the foliage, it did limit her options on how to deal with the giant bug with a machine gun! As that Morphon Gatling started to turn, bullets blasting out towards the golden golem, Valeria kept her charge going straight for the gunner!
The bullets themselves, well, Isaac would hear them rattle right over the metal body, the construct ringing like an off-key tuning fork as bullets sparked and ricocheted off her body. Indeed, the gold even started to dent a little...
... But, Isaac would only hear that noise for a second or two. A moment later, those resounding noises turned to nothing but dull thuds, and with her back to the group it would be hard for the team to tell why. Mothmon, however, would find that its bullets were literally painting Koganemon's torso black and grey. No longer bouncing off the armor, the bullets themselves sank inside, fusing with the golem and joining the metal alloy. It made her front side look like a piece of discarded scrap iron, sure, but it reduced the impact of the gatling gun by half!
And that was more than enough for Koganemon to continue barreling through! With Cion's support, hopefully making it hard for the insect to dodge, she would keep her momentum and aim a strong, right hook at the Mothmon's center!
As for Ami and Koneka, though, the two were left behind with Cion and John. For one, Ami was human and didn't need to be in the line of fire, and two, Koneka was much better on support than on the front line.
"This alright?" Ami sighed, not able to see the fight clearly through the fog.
"With this many, we have sheer advantage in a free for all. Besides..." She covered her eyes as fire tore through the poisonous thorns. "If we got two people fighting them up there, the rest of us can clean up, real easy!"
Ami nodded in agreement! For now, the two stayed nearer to the Greymon, though didn't elect to get up on that already crowded head.
Battle Log:
Valeria is using 'Cold Fusion', fusing the bullets into the golem's metal as they come into contact.

"Motion, not sight. Got it," Isaac muttered as he noticed what set the Digimon in this labyrinth off. Now at least he could take this information and use it to plan for future ambushes. Whipping up a massive alpha strike on the enemy before they noticed their approach was looking like a far more viable strategy than it was before. It also meant stealth would be a lot less viable, at least until they had time to play around with the "sight range" of their aggressors. Considering that this fight may very well alert the rest of the maze, it'd probably be too late for that anyway.
Right now, the important thing was that there was a big, golden bodyguard between him and the world's most awkwardly positioned minigun. Now he could keep safe without having to even look where Mothmon was firing, instead listening to the rapid fire bursts of gunfire slowly turn into a strange, almost liquid sound. Was Valeria absorbing the bullets? How did that even work? It was far less loud than just taking gunfire was, though, and that gave NeoDevimon the peace of mind to actually focus.
In particular, it could focus on Cion's efforts at immobilizing the Zessoumon. Immediately all six of his eyes darted to the plant, watching the white singularity slowly forming beneath its feet. This was a critical moment. Would the plant try to shimmy out of the way, or would it be lifted into the air against its will. In either case there would be a brief, wonderful period where it was reduced to a sitting duck, whether due to levitation or due to having just completed a dodge. Isaac just needed to wait for that one critical moment to strike.
As soon as the Zessoumon moved, Isaac would extend his hands out and fire the tips of his claws in the plant's direction. This Cable Claw attack was especially mean if every single claw-tip landed, and right now Isaac saw a great opportunity to push its force to the limit.
It was nice, working as a group again. The organization of everyone involved was already making this way less of a headache than it needed to be. He'd have to remember to thank the group for a job well done before NeoDevimon got distracted by a beehive or whatever it is he did.
Combat Log: Isaac hides behind Valeria to stay out of Mothmon's kine of fire. Isaac takes advantage of Cion's set-up to aim a full-force Cable Claw at Zessoumon.

All at once, the action finally kicked off. Two enemy Digimon attacked the team. A few of the other members set to work immediately by Digivolving and attempting to fight off the opposition. Satoshi was a little shocked at first, but managed to collect himself quickly and grabbed his Digivice. "Okay, Gabumon!" he said. "We're not going to be outdone by John and Cas that easily, right?" "Hell, no!" Gabumon answered. "Then let's go!" Satoshi held the device up high like he had while training with Sophie and Lantis previously. A light shone from Satoshi's Digivice, causing Gabumon to glow as well. "Hell, yeah!" Gabumon shouted out proudly as his transformation began to take place. "Gabumon Digivolve to...Garurumon!"Standing proudly where Gabumon once stood was a large blue and gray wolf. He wasn't quite as gigantic as Casimeir, but was still big enough to give Satoshi a ride on his back if need-be. The giant wolf leapt into the fray with a stream of blue flame pouring from his mouth. "Howling Blaster!" was the name of his move. The target was Mothmon, which the beast assumed would be weak to a fire-based attack.
Combat Log: Gabumon Digivolves into Garurumon and uses Howling Blaster on Mothmon.

The first move from the group surprised both digimon. The Zassoumon was lifted into the air, waving its roots around reflexively as it tried to regain purchase with the ground. Furthermore, the wind was making it hard for Mothmon to fly properly.
While most of Mothmon's bullets hit Valeria, they seemed to be having very little effect. However, the digimon didn't seem to be fearful of this as other digimon would. It seemed... that they had little in the way of conscious thought. All they responded to were threats, and they had little more to them than that.
Then the Greymon attacked, sending a Nova Flame toward the toxic thorns that blocked their path. Of course, the Mothmon reacted to this.
"Whirlwind Blast!" it screeched, and beat its wings at maximum strength. While it could not stop the full force of the attack, embers and flames were beaten away so that they were blown back, many of them hitting the surrounding bushes.
The black corrupted data of the forest was gradually climbing up the branches and brambles, slowly extinguishing the flames to prevent the forest going on fire, but, unless more was done to stop it, the heat would be rather uncomfortable for those in the front lines.
And furthermore, there was a Blue Blaster attack from the newly evolved Garurumon aimed squarely at it. The wind still scattered it, but, most of it got through, and Mothmon screeched with pain, but, wasn't quite dead yet.
That was until Valeria seemed to surge through its gunfire and aimed a powerful punch at them. It was no match for the perfect level attack, especially after being struck with the Howling Blaster. At once, the insectoid digimon was destroyed.
Zassoumon equally unlucky. As the NeoDevimon aimed at it, its weedy vines glowed purple and it sent a burst of energy down into the data below. The black smoky data rippled once again, seemingly sending a force deeper into the labyrinth. The full strength Perfect level attack hit directly, and at once, Zassoumon disintegrated into nothing.
It seemed that both enemies were destroyed at once by the group. But would the rest of the path be this easy?
Mothmon uses Whirlwind Blast on the approaching Nova Flame, Blue Blaster and surrounding battlefield.
- The blast scatters the fire around at its surroundings, setting the path of wood ablaze for 1 turn. Unless this is countered, all present digimon would receive minor heat damage. - The Nova Flame still gets through and sets the Toxic Harvest on fire, eliminating it. - The Blue Blaster still gets through and deals damage to Mothmon.
Zassoumon seems to have sent a signal deeper into the labyrinth before being destroyed by Cable Claw.
Mothmon is destroyed by Valeria and Garurumon.

Delighted by the Graymon's cordiality, she gave him a warm smile before making a quick leap on its massive head made out of brown chitin. She honestly had not been sure if this digimon would have already complied with her request, but it seemed that, at the very least, the desire to cooperate was strong within this being. Or perhaps he found something in the Sagitamon that made him want to be friends with her, which of course would have been splendid. But whatever was the case in the end, she was just glad that she could rely on someone for this adventure.
"Thank you very much, darling." Cion said soft-spokenly, gently giving Casimeir's head a couple of pets to show her appreciation. Quickly standing up to get a good view alongside John, although he remained on the Graymon's shoulder, she did her best to comprehend the situation at hand as quickly as possible. Fortunately, there was not much to understand since almost everything had been solved rather quickly. And with that, her inner voice of course meant that their two adversaries had been vanquished. It saddened her a little to see them destroyed, but she was certain that they would reincarnate in a better life one day.
One thing Cion was glad about was that nobody seemed to truly enjoy themselves like savages. Instead, they all seemed to see things as what they were; unfortunate necessities. They had never wanted the forest to be corrupted, they had never wanted to volunteer to save it, and they had never wanted to destroy lives in the process. But their hands were forced to take action, even if it meant inflicting pain. After all, what was the alternative? Let the digital cancer grow and spread? No, that would only lead to unfathomable suffering.
Sighing, Cion watched at the fires caused by the Graymon that spread along the walls of the labyrinth, only to be quickly extinguished by the dark haze that seemed to have a mind of its own. This of course caused many hypotheses to form in the vulpine digimon's head, but they were not worth thinking about too much since they lacked a lot of information about the matter at hand. Instead, she focused at the here and now, which was the biting heat that, if only shortly, gnawed at their bodies. It was no significant damage, at worst sore skins, but from experience the Sagitamon knew that even the smallest of things could have massive consequences.
Not risking anything, even if someone utilized an ability quickly enough to immediately end the fire, she engulfed her paws in golden light and hummed a short melody. As she remembered that one lullaby from this famous video game franchise, the aura briefly engulfed all of her allies as well, mending any small cuts, bruises, minor gun wounds and burns they might have suffered; likely mostly out of inattention. Her 'Bracing Repose' ability did not require much energy, so why not put it to good use? And as she stopped humming, the light faded again.
With an expression of content, she sat down on Casimeir's head, her light weight certainly not impeding the brawny entity, now would it? Chuckling a little, she took in a deep breath and folded her fingers around each other. "Things will likely only get more dangerous from now on. Shall we proceed?" She asked the others, wondering if any of them had a change of heart of sorts. If not, then she was more than happy to follow group consensus, and of course wherever Graymon would carry her.

Both John and Casimeir felt a tad embarrassed from the fire that spread from the Greymon's attack. It looked like from here on out that they would have to be extra cautious about using fire-based techniques. "Eh, sorry everyone," Casimeir stressed, "I'll be more careful next time. I never meant for anyone to get hurt." The Greymon's mood improved when Cion expressed her gratitude. "No problem," he returned to her kind words with a gentle smile.
John was happy that the team hadn't suffered any casualties. At least, none on their side. The human and his partner did experience remorse for the fallen Digimon. The poor things were likely fighting against their own will, and they were confident that this black data played a significant role. And now that the group had a breather, it was time to continue with their mission and plan their next move. Cion appeared to have the right idea by using a healing ability to care for the individuals and any wounds or burns they might have received during the battle.
Now that the group had this short time to relax, John couldn't help but gaze toward the newly formed Garurumon. This would be the first time that he had seen the silver and blue Digimon, and he liked what he saw. "Well well," he mused with a smile, "that's a display if I've ever seen one. When did you unlock that form, Garurumon?"
Casimeir followed John's gaze to see his friend in his evolved state. "A big wolf, huh? I gotta say, you're looking strong!"
At this instant, Cion expressed her thoughts on what the group should do. "I say we continue on," John opined in agreement. "This might be a stretch, but I would say wherever there are Digimon, then that would be our correct path to the source of the corruption. They might be soldiers on patrol to prevent anyone from getting near whatever it is they are protecting."

"Hyah!"
That went better than expected! Valeria's right hook landed squarely against the flying, flaming Mothmon. The insect shattered into data the moment it hit the ground, only a few moments after the Zassoumon suffered a similar fate. After a moment. It took a moment for the golem to halt its momentum, stopping several feet beyond the target. With a glance over her shoulder, Valeria gave a thumbs-up to the NeoDevimon, the golden golem turning to rejoin the rest of the group.
It was a clean victory and a team effort, and one that didn't stop with the battle: Cion was quick to top off the group with a small healing spell, enough for the golem's jagged torso and small dents to normalize, leaving the smooth body of the golem once more. The section of her torso rattled with Mothmon's bullets remained black, lead metal smoothly joining the golden alloy.
On the surface, it seemed like everything was going well enough. But after the battle, Koneka was silent, the cat giving a small shake of her head. "Oi vey..."
"Mm?" Curious, Ami looked down towards the mercenary. "Something wrong? That went smoothly enough-"
"No, nothing about that felt right. Most Digimon, you know, value their lives. But neither of them showed any panic. No communication, begging, or attempts to flee, or even any emotion in the battle. Its like-"
Koneka blinked. Something clicked, as she looked down at the black mist around them. As Valeria approached, the medic immediately climbed up on Koganemon's shoulder. "Er... hi there?"
"Damn it... alright!" Koneka called out to the group as a whole! "If you can keep your head above this dark gas, keep it there. And if you start to feel ill, sick, or 'off', just be aware of yourself!"
"Wait... you think the gas itself drove those Digimon to be like that?" Ami blinked. "But Sunflowmon was out here before, and seemed normal-"
"My current theory is that it has to build up. Right now, if we're going to do this, we need to head right for the center, as fast as possible... or failing that, get the heck out of here, and consider just destroying the entire forest." Her tone was absolutely serious, with both options. "We have to at least consider the possibility of a time limit."
It was a scary though, and Koneka was only about sixty percent sure it was the case. But if it was, and they were out here too long, well, that would just be a tragic end for the group!

Isaac looked down at his claw as the tips retracted, smoke full of black pixels rising from the tips. There was once a Zessoumon here. Now it was gone. Beyond the assist that Cion had set up, the blood was on his hands alone. He stood there, frozen, looking at his hand as he tried to think on what that meant. Then he charged into the fog like a man (or in this case, a demon) possessed. In frantic swiping motions he looked through the mess for something. An egg. A Digi Core. A loop of freaking fractal code. Instead, all he saw was
"Nothing."
He hunched over where the remains of Zessoumon would have been, practically paralyzed. A low moan echoed from the NeoDevimon's mouth as he tried to process just what had just happened. It couldn't have been death. Not in a single blow like that. Could it have? This was his first real fight with NeoDevimon at the controls, and from the sheer level of force put into the blow it was clear that Isaac hadn't held back. Maybe this spirit's upbringing gave it a deadly lack of restraint. Or maybe Isaac's own single-minded focus on ending this corruption lead to him feeding all of his hatred into that strike. He could feel the cores aligned on his chest pounding, each like a miniature heart working in sync.
"It's not real," he muttered under his breath, taking a shaky step back. It didn't respond to sight, only to the presences of others. It didn't speak. It had no sense of self preservation. It didn't even leave a trace when it was destroyed. If anything, it was more like a D-Reaper construct than any actual Digimon. Its last action wasn't to fight back, but instead to plant some sort of pulse into the ground. A trap? A warning? Isaac wasn't sure what it meant, but all signs pointed to this being no Digimon. Or, at least, not anymore. Like a parasite, the corruption had twisted it beyond repair. How could Isaac have killed it? It was already dead.
Yet, didn't that mean Isaac should have tried twice as hard to save it?
His breath was ragged. Sure, the NeoDevimon's breath was always ragged, but Isaac's current mental distress sure as heck wasn't helping. "It's fine," he muttered distantly to Casimeir. "You opened a path we needed open." And so did Isaac. With his claws. Without a shred of thought. God, he and Elliot had always promised each other no deleting. Why did he go and do this? Could he even afford not to do this? Or would the state of this maze be to kill or be killed? Perhaps he had been spoiled, being able to talk, subdue, or avoid any threats he had encountered prior.
It sounded like the plan was to press onward and avoid the gas. Isaac nodded, taking to the air so he would be as far from the shadowy corruption as possible. Wordlessly he flew forward, making sure to keep the pace that the rest of the group was willing to set. For now, the only words he had left would be words directed inward.

Garurumon's attack seemed to help enough, and did the trick to take out the enemy Mothmon. He stood proudly, confident with what he had done. John and Cas seemed impresssed with him, and that just made his ego inflate even harder. "Of course, I've always been able to do it!" he boasted. "Before you know it, I'll be even stronger!"
Satoshi just chuckled, glad to see that they had gotten through relatively unharmed. "Good work, Garurumon," he said, climbing up the giant wolf's back. He was the perfect size to be ridden on, so it seemed he'd be a lot easier for Satoshi to get around in the future. Sure beat walking everywhere. "What's our next move?" he asked the rest of the team.

Indeed, neither the Mothmon or Zassoumon had made any attempts of self-preservation, even with the overwhelming force that had been present to oppose them. They had simply attacked and fell where they stood, without so much as making a noise of pain. Whether or not this was unusual to the group, that was up to them to figure out.
The Mothmon and Zassoumon had simply disappeared after their destruction. No egg or fractal code remained. It was though they had simply faded into the black data that covered the forest floor like an eerie mist. Whatever the case, it certainly wasn't a normal digimon death that they observed here. Then again, Zassoumon and Mothmon didn't act like normal digimon...
It seemed that the group decided to continue further into the labyrinth. The fact that they stayed together rather than split up meant that while they covered less overall area, they were not separated by the twisting vines, thorns and brambles that formed the walls of this maze.
Eventually as they walked along, they would notice that there seemed to be few further forks in the path. However, eventually, as they passed a certain point in the labyrinth, a large red flower would blossom in the wall, with black data swirling around it. The flower released a sickly sweet scent, seemingly emitting a faint purple haze that gently trickled through the air. How would the team react to this?
A red flower appears.

Cion did not feel like John and Casimeir had to apologize for anything since nobody got hurt from friendly fire, which was why she simply petted the Graymon's exoskeleton. Chuckling briefly at his kind response, her focus returned to the situation at hand and the decision the group had to make. Ignoring the other batner for a moment, she let her question linger so everyone had sufficient time to contemplate a proper answer.
In the Sagitamon's point of view, John had the right idea. All of them were valiant fighters and could cooperate rather well considering how recent their meeting had been. A straightforward approach by simply walking into the hornets' nest really seemed like the best approach to their task at hand. Koneka appeared indifferent ot their approach, but warned everyone to stay clear from the balack mist that accumulated beneath them. If it had the power to slowly turn digimons into slaves without a sense of self-preservation, then it was obvious they had to stay away from it. Hopefully, it had no other consequences if not inhaled.
The NeoDevimon acted... strangely frantic. Had something gotten into it that should concern her. It did not seem to be affected by the black mist, so was it perhaps something else? The vulpine digimon could not tell, so she simply let the topic be for a while. Maybe the NeoDevimon was simply not used to fighting, which would not surprise her all too much. After all, it had been rather headstrong in its approach thus far, and hesitantly quiet in the way it interacted with the rest of the group. Each their own she figured...
As always, Satoshie appeared completely oblivious of the situation at hand and what the rest of the group were doing and talking about. Naturally ignoring her question, he asked it again, causing Cion to sigh quietly and shake her head. Regardless, group consensus was clear. They would continue walking straight forward, ready to face whatever they would encounter. Of course the Sagitamon would enjoy the comfortable spot on Graymon's snout for as long as he was not bothered by her presence and light weight.
Eventually, Cion spotted the flower the narrator of this little tale described splendidly. It was a beauty, but one also tainted by the dark that corrupted these woods. Remaining quiet for a moment, she leaned over Casimeir's snout and try to figure out what this thing is supposed to be. "I would not go near that thing. Might spread the corruption like seeds." She figured, believing that this red flower was at least one of the carriers of the black fog that tainted everything. If not, it might be a trap regardless, so caution was recommend. "Perhaps Casimeir should just burn it?" She asked the group, feeling that was the 'better safe than sorry' approach to the situation at hand.

Well, well... it seemed that not everyone was used to this. As Valeria finally got a good look at the NeoDevimon, she saw him hunched over, not acknowledging the golem's congratulations. Honestly, that was probably for the best - was this Isaac's first time? Slowly, the ultimate lowered her hand. She couldn't give any expression in this form: no condolences, no emotion, no reaction. Unintentionally, maybe she was the apt killing machine that Isaac feared he was going to become...
Still, the group had a mission to perform. With Koneka's warning given, regardless of whether it was heeded, the whole lot of them would make their way down the path, down into that thickening mist. Ami put a sleeve over her face to filter out the smell, the Gatomon sitting atop Koganemon's taller frame. It likely wasn't a quiet walk with this bunch - Cion seemed friendly, and Satoshi's and John's groups had quite a bit of pep to them - but it was uneventful, until that particular red flower grew on a densely forested wall, near the path. "Ever see anything like that before?" Ami looked towards Koneka and Valeria, both of which gave a shrug.
"Not at all, although -" Her ear twitched, their internal conversation cut off by Cion's warning. The first part made sense: after all, plants could inherently be poisonous, corruption or not - but at the second part, the cat's ear twitched! "Now hold on! Before we do that, we should get a cutting!"
"Eh?" Really, Ami was about to back up so the Greymon could get to work. But to her surprise, Valeria gave a nod, and raised her arm, allowing Koneka to (tentatively) climb onto the NeoDevimon's back. After doing so, the golem would step towards the flower, her metallic right hand glinting, before taking the shape of a thin blade. The Koganemon moved right towards the plant, unnerved by the gas or the mist: she'd try and push the bud of the flower aside, looking for any sort of seeds blooming from the end. Valeria wanted to collect those, as well as get a live sample of the plant's stem.
Koneka explained, settling on the demon's back (or Ami's shoulder, if that failed): "Its not important now, but if we analyze the sorts of plants that grow here, we can get an idea what happened... and more importantly, develop a countermeasure to it."

Now that the initial high had worn off from their success, John and Casier were able to realize that some of the others didn't react so well to their victory. John and his partner had not been involved in many battles, so they did not immediately recognize that something was horribly off about their previous encounter with the corrupted Digimon. It was Isaac's reaction that caught the duo's attention the most.
The more John thought about it, all of the scruffs and battles he and Casimeir had gotten into, both in the real and Digital Worlds, none of the Digimon had ever acted like this. The others had at least some kind of motive behind their attacks and were able to speak coherently. Well, save that one rampaging Seadramon on the fateful day they unlocked their first Digimental together.
But that would have to wait until later. By now the group reached the beautiful yet unquestionably blood-red fowl flower that hung upon the wall of the maze. John and his Greymon partner took note that the thing was emitting an intoxicating scent as well as a purple mist; by all regards, the same color as that poison that dripped from the wall of thorns during the fight.
Cion offered that perhaps Casimeir should burn the flower while she still resided on his chitin helmet. The big dinosaur, of course, didn't mind. A direct approach to the problem at hand, and tactical, too. "Sounds like a plan," John agreed while Casimeir gave a nod of approval. But before the Greymon could begin, Koneka voiced a minor protest, though reasonable, and Koganemon got to work. Greymon waited patiently for the golden golem to procure any samples that were required before getting out of the way.
Once the way was clear, Casimeir readied himself. "Stand clear, everyone. I'd hate to burn you all a second time." With that, he inhaled through his nostrils. "Nova Flame!" Just like before, a hot fireball spewed from the Greymon's maw toward the flower. If all went well, the potentially hazardous flora would burn to a crisp just like that wall of thorns. But just as John and Casimeir expected, the black fog that swirled around the flower went to work at attempting to douse the flames. If anything, Caismeir would release another fire attack if it was required.
