John and Casimeir sat quietly in their seat within the Trailmon passenger car. The only constant that broke reticence was the clickety-clack of the wheels while they rolled along the rails of the track. It was a soothing rhythm which almost appeared to beat in unison with their hearts.
When John last looked at his friend Satoshi, the new roommate made the decision to close their eyes and catch some rest before the new adventure could begin as a whole. And frankly, John couldn't blame him. The poor guy didn't get a single wink the night before out of excitement for the mission to rescue his new Digimon. But right now, instead of focusing on Satoshi, John and Casimeir kept their eyes locked on the world outside of their window. His gaze only rewarded by a dark subway tunnel with the occasional green and red lights whizzing by.
"This your first time going to the Digital World?" asked a disembodied, almost zealous masculine voice. The speech snapped John out of his daydreaming and nearly caused his heart to leap into his throat. He did not expect anyone else to be in the car with them, seeing that he and his two friends were the only occupants.
John and Casimeir both looked about their car from their seats to no avail. "Who said that?" the partnered human inquired.
A warm chuckle responded to his question. "I did," the voice replied. "I'm the Trailmon that's carrying you three. Who else did you expect to be talking to you? Unless you thought you had a religious experience."
Both John and Casimeir could take a guess that the voice was being broadcast over the train car's intercom system. "That makes a lot more sense," the Koromon commented, slightly amused.
John felt a lot better now that his heart no longer threatened to make a jailbreak from his ribcage. "Oh. Uh, yeah," he finally commented. "This is our first time going there."
"Well lucky you," Trailmon boasted. "I happen to be the fastest Trailmon in the entire Digital World!" John and his partner's expressions momentarily turned to that of skepticism. "We should be in the Digital World in about five minutes," he concluded.

Satoshi was out cold. He was so exhausted that he hadn't even concerned himself with seeing their entry into the Digital World. Though it was an extremely cool moment, the man needed his sleep!
The conversation with Trailmon didn't even make Satoshi stir. The seat was more comfortable than he had expected. His Digivice laid beside him, showing what appeared to be a map screen and two blinking dots. If John or Casimeir were feeling particularly nosy, they'd maybe be able to figure something out by checking out Satoshi's Digivice!

The noise that Satoshi's device emitted happened to catch John and Casimeir's attention. The pair's eyes locked onto the screen that was in full view. A sense of wonder grew inside of the human as he watched the dots on the apparent map. What did they signify, he wondered?
John could honestly not quell his expanding curiosity, and neither could the Koromon. The partnered human scooted along the cushioned seat with his Digimon in his lap to get closer to the armrest. They hoped to get a closer look at their friend's Digivice.
"It looks like a map," Casimeir observed. "But to where?"

Satoshi continued to snooze away as the train reached its destination in the Digital World. The map on Satoshi's Digivice seemed to indicate that whatever they were going to find was off to the east. With any luck, John and Casimeir would be able to figure it out and convince the Trailmon to take them further to their goal.

While John and his partner examined the map, the duo noted a waypoint of sorts toward the East of the geographic chart. The marker itself acted like a blip that would be picked up on a radar, although it and the map looked 8-bit in design.
"Well," John mused, "that's peculiar. I never knew that Digivices had map features with them." His voice remained at a soft volume as to not wake up his friend. The poor guy needed all of the sleep he could get after pulling an all-nighter.
The Koromon leaned forward now while he looked at the two dots. "The one that's moving is supposed to be us, I think," he deduced. "What if the other one is Satoshi's Digimon?"
"You know," said John, "I was just about to say the same thing. I'm used to seeing this kind of stuff in video games." The human smirked. "And Mom always told me that video games wouldn't teach me anything."
A thought had occurred to the partnered human. What if the Trailmon's stop wasn't where they needed to go? For all John knew, the train line must have worked the same way that the subways did in New York, where you had to get off at certain stops to change trains. "Hey, Trailmon?" he began, "Would it be asking too much to help the three of us get to a certain destination?"
"I don't normally take special requests," the Trailmon mentioned while sounding somewhat sympathetic. "I just get from point A to point B taking humans and their partners to and from the Digital World. Why do you ask?"
John looked out of the window as Casimeir kept his eyes on the Digivice. "We're in the Digital World to help our friend Satoshi find his Digimon partner," the human explained. His gaze was only met by the darkness of the tunnel.

Satoshi grumbled a bit in his sleep, then finally roused himself. It took him a moment to shake off the grogginess of his little nap, but he did so and looked around the room. John and Casimeir were busy talking to the Trailmon.
"Oof..." he groaned, sitting up and stretching himself out. "I feel a little better, at least! Are we almost there?"

John looked over to Satoshi while he stirred from his sleep. "Oh, you're up," he mused. The human offered Satoshi his Digivice back to him while making the screen face his roommate. "Cas and I noticed something. We think your Digimon is that blinking dot."
It was Casimeir's turn to speak to the Trailmon. "Trailmon, could you please help us find Satoshi's new Parnter? I know you might have a tight schedule to meet, but we need to find the Digimon as soon as possible. There's no telling if the Fresh Digimon is safe or not."
The Trailmon made an audible hum while he considered meeting the request of his only passengers. "Well," he began, "if it's for a good cause, then..." The Trailmon trailed off while he pondered on what to do. "Alright, I will help. There's nothing scarier than being lost as a baby Digimon."
Hearing this made John smile. Before he could offer a thank you, the Trailmonburst through the tunnel's exit into the vast open environment that was the Digital World. John and Casimeir's eyes were glued to the window, looking out with a brand new sense of wonder.
"It looks so real!" John breathed.
Casimeir's eyes lit up with glee. "This is where I'm from...It's so beautiful!"

It seemed that John and Cas had gotten an idea of the missing Digimon's location. Trailmon was also willing to help, which was extremely kind! He probably was going out of his way for this. Satoshi grinned as the view of the Digital World presented itself to him.
"It's..breathtaking," he whispered. This was the start of something amazing for Satoshi, he already could tell. His attention was taken so firmly by the view that the rest of the train ride passed by quickly.
Before they knew it, Satoshi and the others were dropped off by Trailmon on a platform in front of a huge forest.
"So, this must be the place," Satoshi said, staring down at his Digivice. "You guys ready for some exploring?"

John and Casimeir both gave a nod in unison. "This will be exciting, for sure," John mused with excitement all over his features. There was a glint in his eye, one that signified he was ready for an adventure. "It's like being in a super virtual reality world, but everything feels so real!"
The Koromon hopped into John's arms, who caught him quite easily. He too was ready to explore. "So this is where I'm from?" Caismeir asked in his sense of wonder. "I wonder how I ended up in that little pond?"
