Dissonance and Despair (Alicia/Invite)

Things had gone horribly wrong, indescribably so. Their host had been assaulted and wounded deeper then anything before this, and in such a way that she had seemed to lose herself in the agony and hopelessness. Even when she’d freed herself, she was far from a good state of mind. Case in point, she hadn’t made any effort to reclaim her D-Scanner. What were they supposed to do?
”Please tell me you have some brilliant idea for this.” Kisara spoke up, looking over at the pacing dragon spirit. They were both completely caught off guard as the digivice was forcibly shut down and rebooted, leaving them in quite the daze due to their inherent connection to it. Never had she cursed being bound to the trinket more then she did now…
”Nothing that we can do by ourselves. Alicia is already far out of range of our ability to contact her… Not that she’s in any condition to hear us as is. Our hope lies in flinging a message out to someone who can feasibly intercept her.”
”Well, that’s your area of expertise, Sol… I have little choice but to leave it in your capable hands.”
The dragon spirit nodded and closed his eyes, gathering what strength he could. It was going to be a mess to get the message where it needed to go, yes, but that was all there was to it. He had to be quick though… the sooner he could act, the sooner this tragedy could be ended. Rapidly, his power peaked and with a flare of intent, he pulsed it outward with a message, hoping that any of Alicia’s friends could pick it up.
”To any who may hear this, please make haste to The Forsaken Wastelands! A terror has been unleashed in the form of a dear friend lost in madness and I find myself incapable of acting upon it, save to relay the message. Please… stop her before she destroys herself in her blind rage!”
Fortunately… regardless of distance, at least one would pick it up. Who better to try and calm the raging Spirit User then a bearer of Harmony?
Speaking of tragedy, another was taking place not too far from the initial point of madness. It would be a rare thing to see an undead digimon running scared from something, and yet… Such was the case with a skeletal chimera of a beast who was barely holding pace ahead of a large mass of billowing black smoke which seemed oddly intelligent and malicious in its chase.
Nerves snapping, the Skull Baluchimon wheeled around in one final attempt at defiance. “Grave Bone!” Unlike the standard version of the attack, the skeletal chimera angled the spikes on it’s back forward and launched them off into the mist, in hopes of skewering something within the mass. It knew, from hearing a previous victim that was swept up in the mist, that stepping into the billowing mass was a death sentence. The only option was to blindly fire into it and pray it stopped whatever was inside.
There was no sound of impact, and the Skull Baluchimon had lost any lead it had on the mist. Neither would it be able to pick up enough speed to escape before it too was swallowed up. It’s last sight was of those four blood red eyes as the mist overtook it, and black steel ripped its bony body to pieces like so much wet paper. At the very least it’s pain had been brief.
The Monster howled with wild rage as she devoured and loaded her latest victim, vaguely considering leaving the Dark Area for metaphorical greener pastures. She was capable of flight, and would not tire in this form, so it was just a matter of doing it. Another sweep of the Wastelands, perhaps, and she would act on that consideration.

"Something is wrong Suki-Chan. I can feel it in my Data." Patamon complained for the fourth time. Mitsuko shook her head with a sigh. "You know the last time you told me that, a television show had been cancelled. It's kinda hard to take you seriously." The silverette said with a small smile "Maybe this time they discontinued your favorite brand of Pumpkin Seeds." Patamon didn't roll his eyes, or even come back with a smart remark, he just held her gaze seriously. Okay, this was unusual and somewhat terrifying. Mitsuko was going to open her mouth and assure her partner everything was alright, when her D-Terminal beeped with a new message. She opened it up, but there was no return address or even a time stamp, however there was an audio file attached to the message. Biting her lip, she played the message. Once Sol's words had finished, her eyes widened in horror as she looked at her partner. "You... were right. Something's wrong. We need to contact the others."
Quickly she hit forward, and added Maia, Elliot and Isaac as the recipients. She also added a brief message of her own:
'Hey guys,
Patamon has been on edge all day, and I was kinda blowing it off, until I received this voice message. It's from Sol, and it seems rather urgent. Meet me at The Forsaken Wastelands ASAP!
-Mitsuko'
The musician read her message once more, and verified everything was there before hitting send. "Alright Patamon, it's time to lock and load!" She said as she held her D-3 towards her partner.
"Patamon digivolve to... Angemon!"
Usually she enjoyed seeing her partner digivolve in a chorus of bells and digital feathers, but this time they were in a hurry. Angemon scooped up Mitsuko and took to the skies, flying as fast as he could towards The Forsaken Wastelands.

One of the recipients of Mitsuko's desperate message unfortunately wouldn't even be around to see it. Her plea for help would fall upon deaf ears, a notification beeping for a D-Terminal neatly tucked in the back of a closet. The recipient would be off doing an extra load of homework, most likely, or perhaps trying to work up the energy to see friends outside of school. The Digital World was far from the forefront of his mind, and unfortunately so would this distress signal.
As for the other?
Sometimes, there was no force stronger than that of destiny. Isaac had been on a sabbatical of his own, but whereas Elliot was off trying to live his life Isaac was fighting tooth and nail to keep his. One of the three spirits that he needed to take back human form was already in his grasp. The next was, per his Digivice's instructions, all too close. He couldn't materialize the object, but he could feel its pull beating through his chest. It pulsed more intensely with each footstep, demanding that Isaac find his remaining spirits and become properly whole again. His fate, were he unable to do this, was not something that he would want to think on.
The Dark Area seemed fairly homey for NeoDevimon, but that didn't make the spirit any less tense. His back hunched and his claws flexed, an unnerving growl shuddering from beneath his mask. Some days Isaac tried to counsel the jumpy spirit, easing its tension to make both of their goals easier to attain. Today, however, he was far more focused on navigating this strange wasteland. Creatures far stronger than he made their home in the Dark Area, and he didn't want to risk bumping into them in an underdeveloped form. At the rate his own heart was throbbing at, he had a feeling the spirit would be just an hour's journey away . . .
NeoDevimon's head snapped to the right with enough force to make it crack. Isaac didn't even know why until he heard the faint echoes of a roar.
Immediately NeoDevimon snapped into flight-or-fight mode, his hunch stooping lower and lightning sparking from claw tip to claw tip. Whatever creature made that sound, it didn't sound pleasant. Normally, Isaac would have just gotten out of there twice as quickly, but NeoDevimon's hypersensitivity forced him to linger longer and consider the noise. It was malicious, but not quite bestial. Full of rage, but not fully animalistic. There almost seemed to be an emotional note behind it. Triumph?
Someone, or something, must have been in serious trouble.
Isaac basically had to fight NeoDevimon in order to make him move. It was either bolt from the premises as quickly as possible, or charge whatever threat was present in a blind rage. Neither appealed to Isaac. Instead he slowly guided NeoDevimon towards the source of the sound, gliding whenever possible so that his heavy footfalls wouldn't catch the creature's attention. His goal was to keep out of earshot and on the very borders of sight range, hoping to observe the source of the disturbance and see if he could potentially make a difference.
By the time Isaac arrived, there was nothing present but a huge, horrifying dragon. Pixels, blood red and bone white, seemed to drift up from the area where it stood. Clearly, it had just finished loading some sort of meal. Barbaric, even by the standards of the Digital World, but probably nothing out of the ordinary in the Dark Area. The dragon itself was strange and twisted, with unsightly cybernetic parts jutting from nearly every part of its body. Isaac felt a strange, sick sense of familiarity looking at it, but he discounted it as just feeling quite similar to his own spirits. The haphazard mechanical implants rang close to home for NeoDevimon, and its gnarled black body was highly reminiscent of Devidramon. Surely that was the only reason why Isaac felt so familiar watching this beast, right?
He goaded his spirit form into a nearby bush, a thorny, twisted mess of brambles. Despite the sting, Isaac focused entirely on holding his breath. He had to watch this creature, observe what it was doing next, and see if it would fly home content or continue its hunt for meals. Maybe he would luck out and a bigger Dark Area predator would take it out in turn, the Digital World's unstable circle of life. Maybe it would head to another end of the Digital World, and cause an untold amount of destruction before being put down.
Maybe, just maybe, he would forget to keep tabs on the low, almost panicked droning echoing through NeoDevimon's mask.

The Monster snarled and huffed, blackened tar dripping from her maw as she finished her feast. Digimon of equivalent level made such fulfilling meals… and yet her hunger for metaphorical blood and slaughter did not lessen in the slightest. The wounds that gave birth to the Monster were still too deep for her blood lust to be slaked so easily. Very well, her damaged psyche demanded further destruction and conflict, so search for it she shall.
Steel groaned audibly as the Monster hissed, her head lazily swaying to the right as she began to turn. Her corded tail dragged and sparked lazily behind her, before she stopped, noticing an odd sound coming from a nearby bush. Some odd droning sound that hadn’t been there when she’d captured her victim. Her piercing red eyes locked on despite Isaac’s efforts to hide.
And the signature of another Digimon was unmistakable once the source was located. And unfortunately for Isaac, the Monster was able to draw upon Alicia’s sharper instincts to notice the sense of familiarity despite the new form.
’I-Isaac…?’ the ravaged Spirit User thought to herself, one of the few coherent thoughts piercing through the veil of agony and madness. The Monster’s jaw started to steam as her eyes glowed brighter. Alicia vaguely realized what was about to happen, but was helpless to stop it. ’No… No! Isaac, please run!’
As if to alert the NeoDevimon that he’d been discovered, the cyber dragon howled and began to lumber forward, picking up speed as black mist trailed from the jutting exposed cybernetics in her body. But unlike the last roar Isaac had heard, this one was accompanied by something underneath. Something much more… human.
A scream of agony and terror was overlaid into the roar as The Monster lowered its head, intent on trying to skewer the cyber devil with her horns.

It was as if they had hit a wall of darkness. One moment the sky burned bright with the colors of a setting sun; red, orange, gold, pink, blue, and purples lit up the sky. The next it was dark as night. Mitsuko tried to turn to see the stark contrast, but no matter where she looked it was all darkness. It was as if light seemed to evade this place on purpose. The silverette shivered against Angemon's tight grasp.
"Are you cold? I can slow down." He said in concern for his human partner. He often forgot that humans weren't as sturdy as digimon were.
"No." Mitsuko said meekly, as she felt Angemon tighten his arms around her. "I'm not cold, I just have a... bad feeling about this place." Angemon didn't voice his concern, but his mouth drew into a thin line. Mitsuko knew he felt the same. It was as if a never ending sense of foreboding filled them with fear and dread. Mitsuko shook her head, she couldn't focus on this right now. She was on a mission and whatever was wrong, Alicia was in danger. She had to focus on her friends!
If one would look up they would notice a small speck of white, with silver and gold trailing from it, streaking across the sky. Before long a dark miasma filled the air. It was too dark to see much of anything. Angemon hovered in the sky looking around, when a bestial roar filled the air.
"Okay whatever that was, I'm banking that it wasn't good." He said as his head swiveled around looking for the source of the noise. Mitsuko nodded mutely, when the roar happened again. This time, it didn't seem as creature-like... but it was definitely pained. "Angemon..." Mitsuko felt her voice break, as it rose a few octaves.
"Yeah... I know." He said softly, as he headed in for a landing. It looked as if they had finally reached their destination.

NeoDevimon's ears perked up as he heard it; an unholy fusion of man, beast, and machine. The triad of roars weaved together seamlessly, and if Isaac hadn't noticed his pursuer before he certainly was paying attention now. A shriek of alarm echoed from his throat, and Isaac cleaved the bushes with a sparking claw just in time to notice Alicia charge forward horns first.
Flinging out his wings desperately, Isaac took high into the sky. The dragon would likely be able to follow him here, but her terrifying momentum on the charge would hopefully buy Isaac the time to think of some sort of improvisation. His head snapped around with enough speed to make audible cracking noises, looking desperately for places to hide that just didn't exist. Another bush? He had picked practically the only one in this valley, and that clearly didn't stop his pursuer. Dive into the Sea of Blood? Way too close to the D-Reaper situation for comfort, personally. Try and fight back? In this form he'd be torn to shreds. Dive into the cloud of miasma? Nah, that was definitely on the nightmare dragon's side. Outrun the predator? Chances were slim.
He'd have to stand and fight, but not like this. Unwrapping the browned bandages around his wrist, Isaac shook out one of three small pills. He was reluctant to bring one out so soon after being prescribed them, but Dr. Mikemon did say that desperate times called for desperate measures. He lifted his mask up ever-so-slightly, just in time to slide a pill down his throat.
Then he shut his eyes, that all-too-familiar cocoon of hellfire and shadowflame surrounding him. With a piercing roar of his own to answer his pursuer's, Devidramon let the world know that he was back.
It was like greeting an old friend for the first time in ages. Isaac almost wanted to ditch this fight, go on a fly around the Digital World, and see how far he could make it before the pill expired. Unfortunately, that was the definition of a pipe dream. Right now, reality said Isaac needed to stand and fight. He turned his many eyespots towards the darkness, seeking to make out the dragon that lurked within. As soon as she was spotted, Isaac flicked his tail and let it fold into a sharpened prong.
One dive bomb to the head. If that didn't kill it, it would at least slow it down, right? Realizing it was do or die with only thirty minutes on the clock, Isaac descended for the kill shot.

Howling in frustration, the Monster slammed the metallic claws of her right foreleg into the ground to arrest her forward momentum and skid to swing around and sight the devil that had flitted away from her initial charge. To the Monster’s surprise, what she saw and heard wasn’t a devil, but a dark dragon. And her still fleshy lips pulled into a twisted smile. Now this could be interesting.
The cyber dragon held her ground as she watched the Devidramon charge down at her. Her piercing red eyes managed to flick to and catch sight of the spear tipped tail. There was a lot of damage to be done if he managed to stab something vital with that. After that, each eye seemed to flicker about, as if looking at or for something as the demon dragon came closer.
Then with a gleam of danger, her eyes refocused on the target and she lifted her head up. A few sickly pops later, and her jaws parted fully, unhinged to allow for all of her fangs to glitter in the faint light of the Dark Area. In an attempt to dissuade the Devidramon from finishing his intended maneuver, the Monster began to launch her fangs off at him in rapid succession, each launched tooth growing back almost immediately.
Around him, they would detonate wildly, but if any were on track to strike him, they would wait until they either sank into flesh or were narrowly evaded, which ever was confirmed first, so that they would detonate within him or right next to his skin. All the while the Monster confidently held her ground, certain that Isaac would break off his assault.

Angemon slowly descended into the dark miasma slowly, as it was difficult to see. He wanted to be sure if anything truly dangerous saw them, he would be able to retreat rather quickly. Once they broke through the clouds, they could see a monstrous form. It was too horrid to describe in words, Mitsuko brought her hand up to her mouth, biting on it so she wouldn't cry out in horror. Its back was towards them, and suddenly it charged. Angemon hovered in the air, waiting to see what his move should be. Fight or flight.
Suddenly a NeoDevimon burst forth, and suddenly changed forms into... "Devidramon!" Mitsuko whispered into her knuckles. "Isaac..." Quickly he landed, and put Mitsuko down as he watched the Devidramon start his attack. But the monster evaded it.
The silverette couldn't help herself, as she watched the metallic dark dragon shoot fang-like missiles at him. She screamed "ISAAC!!! Watch out!!!" Angemon growled in rage, partly at his partner. And partly because they may now become viable targets. Angemon leapt into the air, hovering close enough to his partner for protection, but far enough to keep her out of danger. He charged up his hand and shouted:
"Hand of Fate... BARRAGE!"
Suddenly one large beam of pure holy energy exploded from his fist. As it soared into the air, it burst apart into about ten smaller beams, honing in upon a few of the missiles. Looked like this time it was fight that won over flight, as the pair watched the beams soared across the sky hoping to hit their targets.

Isaac may have been battle hungry, but he wasn't stupid. The second he saw the fangs coming he flung his wings out, the hot winds of the Dark Area catching against his membranes to help slow his downward spiral. What was once a pin-straight descent was now a graceful curve upwards, Devidramon shooting past the barrage of fangs with the grace of a penstroke. By conserving his momentum he wouldn't have to compromise his ability to dodge with a sudden change in direction, instead rolling with the monster's metaphorical punches instead of trying to push away from them.
Of course, this descent meant that his backside was completely unguarded. He could only have faith that he curved through the stream successfully, and it seemed in this case his face wasn't entirely on point. A pair of fangs sliced path his back, sticking into his scales with a disgusting fleshy sound. The fangs started to grow dangerously hot, and as they properly sank into Isaac's back they promptly detonated. What started as a graceful exit to this situation turned into a feverish tumble as Isaac was sent swirling through the sky. He nearly lost his footing, and if it wasn't for many quick attempts at flinging out his wings he would've probably been dashed on the rocky soil below.
First blood went to the monster in this exchange, but it was far more disorientation than damage. Sure, the fangs were quite painful, but it would've been far more painful if Isaac simply dove right into the middle of a horrific attack. He shook his head as he got his bearings, the back of his throat lighting up with green fire. At least from this angle, he could get a very solid burst-
Wait. Who was screaming after him? Isaac's head snapped towards the sound, before quickly remembering that keeping track of the monster was far more important than responding to the first stimuli he heard. "Mitsuko?" he asked, as if hearing her voice for the first time in months. "Mitsuko, what are you doing? This thing's got malice practically sweating off of it. Please, don't even think about getting close to it!"
Before, Isaac was fighting for his own survival. Now he had someone to protect. This changed everything. He flew low to the ground and aimed himself directly at the monster, once more charging it head on. A head-on assault like that was the same mistake that had gotten him slammed badly beforehand, but this time Isaac had a plan. As soon as he was in threat of being attacked, whether due to an actual attack or entering melee proximity, he barrel rolled to the side. As he did so black gas built up in the back of his throat, spewing out in thick, rolling clouds. The Black Frost attack would hopefully be hard to see, lost in the darkness surrounding the monster and the Dark Area's own shadowy weather, but for such a subtle attack it would also sting quite badly. His goal was to make as complete of a circuit around the monster as possible, spraying his Black Frost all the while. Combat log:
Isaac suffers a glancing, yet noticeable, blow from the monster's strike. Isaac regroups and uses Black Frost.

Snarling, The Monster flicked one eye over to sight the source of the new sounds, even as holy lights knocked several of her fangs out of the sky. The Monster hissed out and closed her maw, taking satisfaction that she still managed to slice a few fangs into the dark dragon’s hide, before taking in the newcomers. A fleshy human and a holy angel. Weak. Easy prey, once the dangers were removed.
But the dark dragon was too dangerous to ignore. Even in the time it took to glare at Mitsuko and Angemon and size them up, Isaac was already swooping in again. A rational being might’ve wondered why he was doing it again. Why use a plan of attack that had already resulted in back lash and damage that could’ve been avoided? Why be so stupid?
The Monster, running mostly on instincts, did not concern herself with such questions. All she was concerned about were facts. Unfortunately for Isaac, the nature of the Monster’s miasma as an airy, mass-less extension of herself made it much easier to separate it from another source of dark mist. Thus, the Black Frost the Devidramon was planning to launch at her was immediately discerned and identified as a threat.
But his choice of attack vector left him wide open. And so the Monster held her ground, waiting, watching. Thirty feet. The dark dragon was fast, she had to admit that. In so quick a time he had cleared another mental marker. Twenty feet. She began to gather her miasma anew. Fifteen feet. Energy was sent coursing through it. Twelve Feet.
The cybernetic monstrosity struck. Howling, her black mist erupted from her maw. Further more it rapidly vented from every torn area of skin like steam from a tea kettle. Centered on the monster, her new burst of miasma wildly expanded, obscuring herself from sight and bearing down Isaac like a ravenous beast.
Further more, even if Isaac had the time to launch his Black Frost into the encroaching wall of doom, another instinct had screamed at the Monster. Under the cover of her miasma, the Monster beat her wings and rose rapidly into the sky by several feet, putting her well out of range of the area the Black Frost could strike in based on where Isaac had last seen her.
As for Isaac? If he were to find himself enveloped, the screaming would begin. Horrible screaming of the damned and dead as even his many eyespots would find their vision reduced significantly. Then… the unseen specters would attack. Glints of steel in the dark would be his only hint before the blades lashed out from every angle around him, seeking to skewer him and send him hurtling into the grave to join them.
Combat log:
The Monster acknowledges Mitsuko’s and Angemon’s appearance in the fight, but does not engage them yet. The Monster unleashes Storming Curse on Isaac (2 turn cooldown [IIRC]) The Monster, under the cover of her own Storming Curse, moves enough to make any launching of the Black Frost null and void, no damage. Also, she is now flying.

Although things in this current situation were rather dire, Mitsuko couldn't help but smile. "I knew it was him." She said softly, to her partner. Angemon however was more focused on the battle that was unfolding before them. All he could do was just nod in agreement as he kept his eyes on the battle.
"Don't worry. She won't get close." Angemon called towards Isaac. "However, I can assist you if you need it." Angemon twirled his angel rod in his hands, striking a defensive pose. "Or, I can heal that nasty hit you took."
Mitsuko nodded at her partner's idea. Yeah, this monster was terrifying beyond words. However, she couldn't back down now. She couldn't describe it, but she felt as if she was needed here. However under powered they were, she knew they had to help Isaac. She couldn't turn her back on a friend. Besides, what they lacked in power, they could try to make up for in out smarting the beast.
That was a good plan, until the beast changed tactics all together. It wasn't like most mindless beasts. It didn't just go for the obvious power attack. It changed tactics in the middle of battle, without a second thought! Mitsuko felt her fear clench something deep inside of her. They were in big trouble.
As the monster rose and charged Isaac, the silverette and Angel couldn't stop themselves. They cried out a warning to Isaac in unison.
"ISAAC!" Mitsuko screamed.
"Look out!" Angemon hollered.
Hopefully their warning wasn't in vain. Perhaps Isaac would need the healing after all, if he didn't escape the attack headed right at him!

If Angemon thought that The Monster wouldn't get close to them, then he really must have been naive. Once she was done with Isaac, she'd definitely make her way over to the tasty morsel of data that had just decided to show his face. Mitsuko, too, possibly. Isaac had no idea if she wanted to taste blood along with data, or if she even had the presence of mind to distinguish between the two. Nevertheless, naive help was better than no help at all. As worried as he was about Mitsuko and Angemon's safety, he was glad to see that she had showed. "Help'd be nice. 'ppreciate it," he said as he closed in. His wings pointed back like an arrowhead as he prepared for impact. It would be at any second now. Fifteen feet. Twelve feet. Ten feet.
Shit.
The miasma extended from every direction, stretching a terrifyingly far distance away from Isaac. Devidramon were predators of the night, with glowing eyespots all over their bodies, and yet even in this form Isaac found himself straining to make out much of anything. As far as he could tell, the miasma stretched on for an eternity. He couldn't make out anything on the other side, or even much in front of his face. The only thing which he could see was The Monster, a small glint of her cybernetics quickly being swallowed up in the miasma. As far as he could see, Isaac was left with two options.
The first; chance a mad dash across the miasma. Either it was a decoy to throw Isaac off of her trail, or it was a really nasty attack about to start up. The former he didn't want to waste time with. The latter, he'd want to escape as soon as possible. However, were he to try and escape the move, he'd be flying through the darkness for who knows how long. If this attack proved lethal, he'd be forced to endure it with no progress made and horrible pain taken. If it was just a smokescreen, the superior night hunter would be able to easily intercept him on his way out.
Or he could charge headfirst into the danger, meeting the monster head on. If this was an attack, he'd be finding its epicenter. If it was an escape, he might not even find The Monster. However, it was at least worth a try. Worst case scenario, being at the attack's centermost point, an attacking Isaac would have just as much in the way of his escape as a retreating Isaac would. Pursuit would only be a win for him, especially while The Monster's location was somewhat fresh in his mind.
Isaac's claws glowed red and his eyespots opened widely. It was do or die, with emphasis on the die.
As if predicting his poor decision, Mitsuko and Angemon cried out in alarm. Unfortunately, their call for help was quickly swallowed up by the howls of the damned. His eyespots writhed in the darkness, looking to see where the voices were coming from, but it seemed less an actual source and more a presence enveloping Isaac. That was when the blades came out. The good news was that Isaac noticed it right away, twisting to the left before charging upwards towards Alicia. The bad news was that as he dodged, another two blades which he didn't see sliced past his side. At times two blades lashed out at once from completely opposite sides, forcing Isaac to ensure hits from one or contort his body to try and wiggle around both. His eyespots seared from the strain of keeping up with all of these attacks, and Isaac was trying to measure not how to dodge The Monster's attacks but which ones were even worth dodging.
If he didn't do something soon, he would succumb to a death of a thousand cuts. However, Isaac quickly saw his chance for a something. In the red glow of his claws he could faintly make out The Monster's position. Not only could he finally achieve sweet payback, but he could also try and use her tremendous armored bulk for cover. Surely the maelstrom of blades would risk putting her in the crossfire until it was dispelled, right?
Putting everything into this one strike, the dull glow of his Ruby Nail intensified as he dodged for the most vulnerable looking cybernetics on her body.
Combat log:
Isaac is being carved, slowly but surely, by the Storming Curse. With each second he delves in unprotected, the pain intensifies. Isaac uses his Demon of A Thousand Eyes passive to try and peer through the blackness, somewhat aided by the glow of his Ruby Nail. Isaac, spotting what may be an opportunity, lunges at Cybercursedramon's machinery with the Ruby Nail to aim for critical damage.[/quote]

The Monster smirked as her trap caught the dark dragon absolutely. Unimpeded as she was by her own mist, she got front row seats to how badly Isaac was getting sliced to metaphorical ribbons by her storming curse. He even made such a desperate effort to evade the blades, thanks to those numerous eyes all over his body, but even with that advantage there were simply too many. It was an attack who’s only weakness was that as long as you were able to see it coming and get out of it’s area of effect before it fully formed, all the power spent in it would be wasted. Alas, even that weakness was already mitigated by the fact that the attack was so massive as is and it came out so fast.
As far as The Monster could tell, the Devidramon was as good as finished. It should have been just a matter of maintaining concentration on her field long enough for the spawning blades to do him in. He would try to flee from the darkness, get lost, and eventually be buried in her Steel as she shifted enough to keep him trapped within. The possibility he would be so reckless as to charge onward regardless and attack her had never crossed her mind. The Monster knew the instinctive and rational response was to escape the pain however possible.
She was completely blindsided when she noticed just how close to her he was, nails glowing a bloody dim red and lashing out. The Monster only had time to howl in shock as her would-be prey turned the tables. Reeling back on instinct, she wasn’t quite fast enough to avoid the nails. Relaxed as she was within her ‘domain’ she wasn’t at all prepared to try and swat him away, letting his burning nails sear in the cybernetics on her neck. With a solid slice, they cleaved through and melted the metal, severing wires and burning flesh.
And yet the Monster seemed to barely be slowed down. Hurt, definitely and significantly, but far from beaten.
Immediately the storm began to disperse, letting Mitsuko see the cyber dragon reeling away from the torn up Devidramon. Righting herself with eyes gleaming full of rage, The Monster then charged forward right away and shoulder checked the Devidramon back. Hardly anything representing an attack, more just an attempt to open up space between her and Isaac. She hadn’t been entirely lax in listening for details. The angel had said something about healing the dark dragon.
If the Devidramon was mentally capable of being so reckless and daring, she couldn’t afford for that recklessness to be encouraged by an on site medic. Shifting target priorities, the cyber dragon wheeled around and charged for the newcomers. The Devidramon was likely faster then her, but she hadn’t given him any time to recover from striking her, and she had more mass to her. He had almost certainly been flung far enough back that he wouldn’t be able to catch up in time.
A part of The Monster’s mind clicked and realized the human and angel were a paired set. The best way to keep the angel focused on doing things other then healing was to target the otherwise defenseless silverette. Sure, this was liable to earn the dark dragon’s ire as well but... she had already earned that by trying to kill him earlier. So, pointedly ignoring any attacks Angemon may throw at her to hammer home that she wouldn’t be deterred by anything less than his full attention, the cyber dragon touched down and rushed at Mitsuko at breakneck speeds. Far too fast for a human to ever outrun, and The Monster had already proven nimble enough to change course without too much hassle.
Help that could overturn the charge seemed too far away... but perhaps it was closer than anyone thought at the moment?
‘No!’ Unheard by all, deep in her own damaged psyche, Alicia screamed. ‘Stop hurting my friends!’ For just a moment, she was able to take control back. Only a moment, and she had no time to really think it through. Just act.
Mitsuko would get to see those four beady eye’s suddenly widen in what could only be shock and horror before the the Cybercursedramon seemed to almost... trip herself? The left leg suddenly crossed over and got itself hooked up against the right leg as it was coming down. That was all Alicia could do before The Monster reasserted control, but it was enough. With a scream of rage, The Monster inexplicably went down hard and rolled over and over again past the silverette tamer.
Rage stoked even higher, the jaws unhinged again, and more missile teeth flew out in a frenzy, the cyber dragon whipping her head around every which way.

Angemon nodded his agreement, "Help is on the way!" He called as he flew closer towards the battle. However it was shortly lived as the Devidramon suddenly changed tactics. Instead of running from the danger, he ran right towards it! For a moment Mitsuko and Angemon were speechless from their surprise! Then suddenly the monster roared in pain.
"Alright! Direct hit!" Angemon cheered, but his celebration was short lived as the storm dispersed into nothingness. Mitsuko covered her mouth in horror as she saw the cybernetic dragon. "Isaac!" Mitsuko screamed as he was swatted away like a fly. Angemon wanted to fly after Isaac, but knew he couldn't. "Yeah... he'll feel that one in the morning." Angemon quipped before his staff changed forms to a sword. A golden light enveloped the entire thing, and... the dragon was gone! Within a blink of an eye, the creature was charging full force at... "MITSUKO!!!"
It had all happened so quickly. One moment she was on the sidelines, the next the action came to her. Mitsuko felt her eyes widen, fear paralyzed her entire body. With sharp intake of breath, a strange calmness seemed to take over. This is it. This is how I die. Dad, I'm sorry... Mitsuko closed her eyes, and awaited the inevitable pain that would signify the end. Perhaps it would be swift, and she wouldn't register any of it. "Mom..."
It was the last words upon her lips, as she opened her eyes. Two big sparkling blue eyes met four dark beady ones. The dragon's eyes widened, and a shock ran through Mitsuko's body as the dragon tripped itself, and rolled harmlessly a few feet away from herself. Something important was playing at the edges of her mind. Before she could even compose herself to realize that she was going to live, a hard body crashed into hers. "Angemon!" Mitsuko exclaimed as she was quickly carried into the air. His face was pale and the sword was glowing in his right hand. "That was like those old cartoons, right Suki-chan?" Angemon said, referring to the slightly humorous sight of the cyber dragon rolling over and over before it crashed into the ground in a lump.
"Attacking a defenseless human? Have you no honor?" Angemon yelled at the prone beast. He raised his sword ready to strike, when Mitsuko screamed at him to stop. Finally everything seemed to snap into place. Sol's warning. The location. The beast. It's hesitance at attacking Mitsuko. "We can't... we can't hurt her." Mitsuko said as she placed an arm onto Angemon's.
"Her?" Angemon said confused, as he looked from Mitsuko to the dragon. He swore and slashed the sword at a few incoming steel fangs, sending a burst of holy energy to meet them in the air.
Mitsuko could only nod her head, yes... her... Her voice said one word that would clarify everything. "Alicia..."

Isaac let out a roar of triumph as his claws sunk into the wires around The Monster's throat. He could feel the molten metal pool around his Ruby Nail and into the beast's scales, sparks ticking at his knuckles. He kept his talons embedded in The Monster's flesh for as long as possible, content that at the apex of the storm he'd be targeted far less by its horrid whirlwind of shrapnel. He let The Monster pull away first, allowing it to rend its own flesh around his claws. If it wanted space so bad it could have it, but only at a severe cost.
As the storm dispersed, Isaac too would be visible to Mitsuko. He wasn't a pretty sight. Some of his eyespots were winced shut, closed to avoid being sliced open by the horrid cuts all over his body. The red patterning of his body was now nigh-indistinguishable from the gashes traced along it. His breath after the triumphant roar was left ragged and fatigued, and his already torn wings seemed especially sliced up. It was frankly a miracle that Isaac had even taken a step towards equalizing this battle with how banged up he was. Even his flight, after The Monster had dislodged itself, was visibly unsteady. Isaac could only hope that a few good attacks would end this.
At the very least, Isaac removed himself as a priority target from the monster. It had shoulder checked him out of the way, scanning the horizon for other threats. Had Isaac successfully scared it away?
Unfortunately, no. Rather than retreat, it turned to focus its attack on Mitsuko and Angemon. Isaac was too busy catching his breath to realize this until the monster had already touched down, focusing a high-velocity run right at the two. Isaac's eyespots widened in shock as he noticed this, immediately folding his wings in and rocketing down to try and intercept The Monster. "Don't you fucking dare!" he shrieked, his own voice bleeding into Devidramon's and cracking slightly. His own incompetence had already put the love of his life and his own brother in serious peril. He wasn't going to let someone as innocent as Mitsuko get into trouble as well just because he wasn't paying attention. He had just sustained too much damage to keep pace with The Monster, though, especially when it had already broke into a full-force run. He could only watch as it closed in, jaws lowering hungrily.
And then it collapsed, as if landing on an injured leg, and rolled passed Mitsuko. Maybe Isaac's severed servos actually accomplished something. Isaac let out a sigh of relief as he noticed that Mitsuko was okay, swooping back up to assess his attack from another angle. "Even think of doing that again, and I'll . . . I'll . . ." Were some of Devidramon's scales pulsing red? It was hard to tell, considering all of the gashes on his body.
Missiles were flying in every direction, but Angemon was cutting them down almost as quickly as they came out. He couldn't cover them all, but he had at least carved out a path. This time, Isaac wouldn't be blasted out of mid air. He swooped over Angemon's head, tail extended like a vicious barb as he prepared to skewer The Monster on it. That is, until he heard Mitsuko's whisper. That name . . . that steel construction . . . that draconic form . . . No. No, it couldn't be. Isaac refused to accept that he was looking at the corrupted husk of his surrogate sister. At the same time, it explained far too much. Immediately Isaac lost his nerve, no longer feeling the confidence to go for the kill-shot. His tail, one aimed at Alicia's throat, lowered as Isaac skidded to a halt in front of her.
"Alicia. Alicia, please, it's us!" Isaac pleaded. His eyes glowed brightly as he aimed his Malice Glare fully in her direction. Would the doubts in her heart force her to stop? They had to, right? "Please, stop this. You have to."
Combat log:
Isaac is lightly donked by the shoulder bash, but isn't very harmed. Isaac takes advantage of Angemon's Holy Slash to dive-bomb The Monster. Isaac, upon finding The Monster's identity, aborts his plan and tries to prey upon Alicia's doubts with Malice Glare.
