Dissonance and Despair (Alicia/Invite)

The Monster snarled hatefully as her barrage was cut down by the angel. With the dark dragon having regrouped with the human and angel, attempting to take out the healer would be much more complicated... So she’d have to do what she did best, output so much damage that it didn’t matter how fast Angemon could render aid. The question was should she risk the dark dragon’s stronger attacks to go after the angel, or wreck the dragon before he could be more of a reckless threat?
Fortunately, that decision was made for The Monster as Isaac fixed his Malice Glare on her. Deep down, Alicia herself seized up at the sight. The human mind buried under all the pain and rage of course had many doubts about the fight. She didn’t want to attack her friends, and had she been in control it wouldn’t have gone down like this. She wasn’t the one Isaac needed to paralyze though...
The one currently in control was far too eager to fight, kill, and consume to be dragged down by silly things like ‘doubt’ and ‘fear’. Matching Isaac’s gazing with a piercing glare of her own, though it carried no supernatural power to it, The Monster howled and charged head long and at full speed. Paws both fleshy and mechanical thundered over the wastelands as The Mosnter’s miasma started to build up again, almost fully refreshed from its early burst.
It spoke much of Alicia’s current mental state to Isaac who likely knew his attacks inside out by now. For her to not be hampered even a bit screamed that something was very, very wrong with her. It also spoke of haunting worries about the condition of her advisors. They seemed to be completely absent for the time being, not just suppressed as might have been possible to explain why they hadn’t talked her down earlier. They too would’ve been effected as they had no desire to fight Isaac and Angemon and they were as much a deciding factor in Alicia’s moves as the Spirit Wielder herself was.
Hopefully the dark dragon would be able to recover fast enough to avoid getting run through on her horns and slammed about like a rag doll. Or perhaps Angemon could overturn a runaway Ultimate?
Combat log:
The Monster completely disregards Isaac’s Malice Glare. She has no fear to prey upon, no doubts festering in her heart with her current controlling mind state. If only Alicia had more control over herself...
The Monster rushes Isaac, intending to hammer him down in a Cruel Rampage
Storming Curse is available again next round.

Angemon smiled as his attacks opened the way for Isaac to try... well... whatever it was he was trying to do. He seemed to be trying to reason with Alicia but with that howl, he doubt it worked. "Oh no, Isaac!" Mitsuko gasped as Alicia started her charge. Angemon's smile faded as he realized he couldn't tackle Isaac out of the way, without putting Mitsuko in danger. But he couldn't just float there doing nothing! How could he choose between his duty to protect his partner, and something that his partner would want? Perhaps he didn't have to choose... perhaps there was another way!
"Close your eyes Suki-chan!" Angemon said softly, as he gripped his sword tighter. The silverette did as she was told, and before she knew what was happening she felt the wind surrounding them both. Faster and faster it seemed to rise around them.
"Omni Typhoon!" Angemon cried out, as he sent a small tornado out.
But this tornado wasn't meant to harm. The Onmi Typhoon zipped out from his body, and towards Isaac, hoping it would knock him out of the way of a giant rampaging metal dragon. When the wind died down, Mitsuko opened her eyes watching at her partner's quick thinking.
"Great idea Angemon, let's just hope it helps!" Mitsuko said softly, as her own mind began working. Perhaps there was something in Sol's message she could use to help out the boys. She closed her eyes, and tried to repeat the message over and over in her mind.
Isaac. Alicia. Angemon. How could she choose between any of them? This battle was only just beginning, but somehow she knew that everyone involved would play a pivotal role, Mitsuko just hoped that she was strong enough for the challenge.
Combat Log:
Angemon casts Omni-Typhoon at Isaac, to try to push him out of Alicia's rampage zone.

The piercing glare told Isaac everything, his own softening as every eyespot on his body widened in worry. Alicia had shown, in no uncertain terms, that she didn't give a crap about his plea. The howl of her own had confirmed it, and Isaac knew that whatever he was looking at wasn't his friend. "This isn't you," he whispered, taking a few steps back in shock.
His legs froze up. He couldn't run. He tried to move his claws, but he couldn't bring himself to raise a hand against his good friend and surrogate sister. Sparring her was one thing, but this was very different. This was a life or death struggle against somebody who meant the world to him. The only harder fights for Isaac would've been Maia and Elliot. His body trembled as Alicia rushed towards him, head lowered and maelstrom streaming behind her. It was as if he was staring his own death in the face, but nothing he did could turn such a fate away.
At least, of course, until he felt a hefty nudge to the side. Patamon had whipped up a large typhoon, firing it towards him in an attempt of doing what Isaac's own body couldn't. Isaac caught the hint, flaring out his wings to let the typhoon help take him away. Once he was airborne and no longer staring Alicia in the eyes, he was able to get enough strength back to start moving. That said, his breath was ragged, as if doing this was more physical exertion than the entire rest of the fight. Why couldn't this just be a random Digimon he could claw to bits without guilt? Why did it have to be Alicia? How the hell was he even supposed to fight her?
The patterns on Isaac's body seemed to shift as he contemplated this matter. The red and black of Devidramon swirled into each other in little whirlpools, almost forming patterns like eyes or hurricanes. What was he supposed to do? What the hell was he supposed to do? Why did he always have to be so goddamn powerless? For once in his life, why couldn't he just take a stand and be strong?
So far, if there was one thing that Isaac knew, it was that being far from Alicia was the worst possible course of action. A charge he could dodge. A wave of knives he could dodge. A horrific explosion of darkness? No chance and hell, and he did not want to weather another attack like that. It'd be better to dive bomb, risk a more manageable attack, and be able to stick close than risk being caught off guard in the maelstrom of darkness once more. Flicking out his tail, Isaac swooped down towards one of the wounds he had already made on Alicia. He didn't have the heart to go for the kill anymore, but he wasn't going to pass up an opportunity that had already presented itself.
Combat log:
Isaac is propelled out of Alicia's way before being run down. Isaac descends for another Imp-ale, hoping to at least feint a different attack out of Alicia.

The Monster snarled and hissed as Angemon rescued Isaac from her assault. Leveling a death glare at the angel for a moment to express her frustration, the cyber dragon refocused on the Devidramon just in time to see him swoop down at her with that tail poised to skewer her. Howling once more, the Cybercursedramon braced as Isaac came closer. Not for another explosion of miasma, no, there was nothing indicating such a thing was coming whatsoever.
What she was bracing for was to lash her fangs out, biting Isaac’s tail and jerking roughly to haul the lighter dragon off course. With a huge swing of her neck and body, The Monster threw Isaac at Angemon, hoping to make the two crash down and be locked down for a bit so she could strike. The action also put her shadow right under her metallic right foreleg.
... Said leg sank in up to the ankle as she unveiled her final attack. Her attack was focused on Isaac primarily, as she wanted to put the dark dragon down as soon as possible. Catching the angel in it would just be a bonus. And all Alicia could do was helplessly scream, completely unheard, as Isaac’s own shadow began to darken significantly. She could only hope he saw it in time to dodge the incoming attack.
Blades erupted from his shadow at The Monster’s will, lancing out to skewer Isaac and anyone else clustered with him. A dangerous assault that was an ambush attack by definition, it could cause some serious damage if left unchecked...
Combat Log
The Monster noms on Isaac’s tail for a bit and forcefully redirects him, ending the Imp-ale and trying to toss him into Angemon. The Monster unwittingly indulges Isaac’s hopes, attempting to attack him with Phantom Steel. If Angemon wasn’t able to get out of the way of the Devidramon-shaped projectile, he too is in danger.

"Alright!" Mitsuko cheered as Isaac was shuffled by Angemon's wind. "Now time to regroup and--" The musician's eyes widened in horror as Isaac went in for another attack. At least this time it was for a wound, rather than a kill. Angemon gasped as the beast grabbed Isaac and whipped him right at them!
"Incoming!" Angemon called out as he dived, narrowly missing the Isaac bullet. He had to shift Mitsuko out of both arms, to where he was holding her by a wrist."Hey, it's not nice to throw your friends!"
Angemon used the momentum from the dive to rocket back up into the air, a bit higher than where he had been originally. "Suki-chan, do you trust me?"
"Yes." Mitsuko said, as she looked up at her partner. "Why?"
"Good. I'm taking a page from Alicia's book!" Before Mitsuko could even register what Angemon had said, he used all his momentum and threw her up into the air as hard as he could. A shrill scream was echoed by a digivice reacting. It could have been the danger she was in, it could have been their close bond... but whatever it was, it was Angemon's time to shine!
"Angemon digivolve to... MagnaAngemon!"
Mitsuko felt weightless for a brief moment before she started to fall back down, and into her partner's arms. Angemon seemed to have grown a bit bigger, and gained some new armor and a purple sword glowing at his wrist. Mitsuko could only stare at her partner.
"I know, I'm still cute." MagnaAngemon said in his deep husky voice.
"No, I'm wondering how long it takes to pluck an Angel. Friends don't throw each other, remember?!" Mitskuo scolded, which was answered with a throaty laugh.
"Hey, I'm just doing what Alicia did. Besides we can argue after the thing that wants to murder us all is dealt with, okay?" MagnaAngemon's sword began to glow.
"Excali-burst!" Angemon swung the sword in a sweeping arc, that seemed to leave a golden trail of energy, that rocketed towards Alicia.
Combat Log:
Dodged the Isaac bullet.
Digivolved to Ultimate.
Fired an Excali-burst slash at Alicia.

From being knocked away by a tornado to being flung by Alicia, Isaac had been bouncing around the battlefield like a pinball. However, being batted aside was fortunately far better than being attacked in earnest. Isaac's tail stung from being bitten down upon, but considering the many more painful moves that Alicia could have pulled in response Isaac thanked his lucky stars. It helped that he was in a prime position to flick out the claw-like tip of his tail, hopefully giving Cybercursedramon a nasty rake along the face while he was stuck in the grapple. It wouldn't be enough to stop him from getting thrown, but every bit of hurting put on the relentless beast mattered.
Angemon's dodge helped Isaac at least buy time to steady himself, recovering his balance just before hitting the ground. While he didn't land in a crumpled heap, he was still grounded at a critical moment. He'd need to regroup before he could think of even taking to the air again, and in a battle with a combatant as canny as Alicia every moment counted. He unfurled his wings, preparing to take to the air, only for his eyespots to widen in surprised when he noticed how abnormally . . . thick his shadow was. He didn't have enough time to get off the ground, but at least he had time to process that something was wrong. Instead of dodging he elected to brace himself, curling his wings over his head and squeezing his eyes shut. "Oh, sh-!"
Isaac couldn't finish before blades of every size and shape erupted from around his body, completely enveloping the dragon in a dark veil. Whether he was skewered horrifically or somehow managed to resist, there were far too many blades surrounding him to properly see.
After a few seconds of this gruesome image, Isaac charged into the air. Immediately, there were a few differences about him visible to all participants. The first was that his entire body had been overcome by a bright crimson glow, leaving him almost monochrome in color. Judging by quite a few of Alicia's blades being bent in every direction, this aura had done a great job in preventing the worst of the attack. Judging by the nasty indentations in his side, where the force of the blades rising up quite literally compressed him, it hadn't done a good enough job. The Devidramon moved as if roaring, but no vocalization came out. Instead, its mouth only seemed to stretch in response to the gesture. Finally, a few crimson drops leaked from the tips of its tail and claws, leaving small sizzles as they fell onto the burnt grass of the Dark Area. This wasn't a technique that Isaac had shown Alicia before, and frankly it didn't even look like one that the demonic dragon was supposed to be using.
It didn't take long for Isaac to go on the onslaught again, casting his wings at a diagonal angle so he could spiral down towards Alicia rather than performing a typical dive bomb. He finished this spiraling path behind Alicia, hovering outside of their mutual melee range so that neither could properly hurt the other. With Angemon (did he look bigger and more purple, or was that Isaac's imagination?) producing a sword to attack from the front, Isaac figured he'd cover the other angles. Almost on pure instinct he lashed his arms and tail out, as if actually capable of hitting Alicia from so far above her.
Perhaps Isaac's instincts were right. His tail and arms elongated as Isaac thrust them at Alicia, his tail bending downwards and his arms stretching to the sides. Once they reached their maximum length, like the three points of a triangle, they would all converge inwards on Alicia's position. Whether Isaac was trying to hold Alicia down for MagnaAngemon's attack or simply find his own most efficient angle of attack was unclear, but what was clear was that any physical contact with Isaac in this form would sear quite badly. Even if Alicia was able to dodge out of this trap, brushing against Isaac in the process would feel quite unpleasant.
Combat log:
Isaac tries to gouge Alicia on the throw, for what it's worth. Isaac activates Red Line in the face of imminent doom, almost unconsciously tapping into his own corrupted data in his fight for survival. Isaac's Corrupted Body passive activates as well, and D-Evidramon comes out to play. Seeing Mitsuko attacking from the front, Isaac flies around from the back to hit Alicia with a double claw strike.

While it was only a grazing blow, the Devidramon’s tail tip indeed scored a strike on the metallic right side, under her eyes. In a bit of grim irony, it was where her normal self was scarred from prior life experiences. But that didn’t matter right now. What did matter was that Angemon was taking a more aggressive stance by evolving to his next form putting him on equal footing with The Monster. Or rather, giving him a leg up, for his nature as a holy digimon with a natural affinity for wounding virus types put him at odds with the Cybercursedramon.
For the moment, Isaac was forgotten as The Monster leveled a fierce glare and rumbling growl at the angel and his partner for a moment, she tensed in preparation to react to MagnaAngemon’s move. And then Isaac made himself known again, surging into the sky once more and... noticably different.
’Oh god... Is...aac...?’ Alicia’s thoughts came in a broken mess as, through The Monster’s eyes she looked upon Isaac’s mutated form, having become as much a twisted and unnatural abomination as she herself currently was. It’s mouth opened to roar but stretched far too wide without a sound. His figure looked compacted like so much thick jelly and then he went on the attack, just as MagnaAngemon swiped a blade of holy energy at her.
’No more... they shouldn’t... shouldn’t have to... oh Isaac...’ she choked out. The Monster didn’t acknowledge her, preparing to spring into motion to at least try and get out of the mess. ’NO MORE!’
The broken scream echoed through The Monster and it shrieked, jerking and falling still as it was shocked into a daze. A daze which promptly allowed the arc of holy energy to slice deep into her side as well all three gooey limbs, burning with the corruptive power of the Red Line, slam into her and send her sprawling with a scream. Rolling away because of the blows, The Monster’s body smoked from where she was hit.
‘I’m so... sorry...’
The Monster struggled to rise, but on top of the massive damage it had just taken from its moment of weakness it was being weighed down by a metaphorical tide of emotion. Or rather, of only one emotion in particular, guilt. Enough that it could stall even the most cold-hearted of life forms. And as a result, the cyber dragon’s attempts faltered, leaving it laying on the ground and heaving.
Combat log:
The Monster is grazed by the tail claw As MagnaAngemon and Isaac attack, The Monster prepared evasive maneuvers in an effort to escape critical damage. However Alicia’s grief over the corruption Isaac suffered has echoed so thoroughly and loudly, it rendered the Monster incapable of action, being struck by both attacks and suffering severe damage. Pinned down by Alicia’s guilt, The Monster remains prone and, tentatively, helpless for the moment.

Mitsuko heard an ungodly roar, and a shrill scream echo around them. It wasn't until she noticed how sore her throat was, and how tight MagnaAngemon was holding her, that she realized it was her own screams. "Alicia, no no. Oh God, no." Mitsuko struggled against her partner as he floated in the air right next to Isaac. Speaking of the Spirit User, both Angel and Tamer noted his newly unveiled form. It was twisted, and even seemed to radiate a sinister aura. Mitsuko covered her mouth, and closed her eyes, turning her body more into her partner.
So much darkness... so much death...
"Suki-chan." MagnaAngemon's voice was soft, yet firm. "We can not let our guard down. One wrong move, and we could all die. Including Alicia. Trust me, it isn't easy for me either." Mitsuko slumped against the angel's arms in defeat. He had a point.
Now was not the time to give up or to cry. She had to keep fighting.
Isaac was wounded, but seemed to be able to keep on battling.
So could they!
'Alicia's body is wounded badly too, but it seems as if her mind is fragmented.' Mitsuko mused silently, her head against MagnaAngemon's chest. "It... may not work... but I have an idea." The musician said softly, as she was gently shifted back to face Isaac. "Only one way to find out..."
Mitsuko dug through her cards, finally finding the one she was in search of. She felt her hands shaking slightly, as she began the modification.
"Digi Modify: Arcana Draw Card... Activate!" Mitsuko's voice cried out as she slid the card through the D-Arc. Focus. Focus! Mitsuko's mind went blank as the card began to glow with a soft rainbow light within her hand. Silently, she felt her mind fill with images of the creature and Alicia. It was time to ask her question. It was a long shot, but one worth trying at least.
"Arcana Draw, will healing Alicia's broken body heal her fragmented mind in turn?" Mitsuko asked in a shaky voice. Would it work? She was always taught that your mind, body, and soul were all interconnected. So, by healing one would you be able to heal the others? Mitsuko's eyes never left the glowing card. Soon, they would have their answer. If it wasn't the answer they hoped for, they weren't any worse off than they already were. They could then regroup, and try another tactic. Harmony. She had to remember the lessons of harmony. For every dark, there is a light. Balance was key to everything. She just had to keep her faith to find the way!
Battle Log:
1. Mitsuko uses Arcana Draw.

Really, this should have been the end of this fight, shouldn't it have been? The monster had paused in its tracks, filled to the brim with remorse for what she had done and who she had lost. Her own mind rebelled against her body, even as it was being held back. Its shrieks of rage, guild, and pain were hellish, practically pleas for this fight to end. She herself demanded an end be put to it. Mitsuko and her guardian angel paused in their assault, taking out a card to try and find whether the monster's mind could be salvaged. Isaac himself would have gladly agreed.
A pity Isaac wasn't here.
One monster laid close to the ground, unable to muster up the strength to even move. Another, despite being ragged, worn, and with his body caved in in several places, had never felt more alive. Its distinct absence of a mouth spread open, leaving a strand of goop connecting the two halves of its mouth as it let out an unearthly roar. It didn't sound like what one would expect from a dragon, almost as if it was being filtered through a broken synthesizer. It didn't sound much like Devidramon at all. And it sure as hell didn't sound like Isaac.
After the roar its mouth closed, pretty much fusing back together. It then turned its gaze back to the monster, expression unreadable. Curiosity? Mercy? Pensiveness? In contrast to Isaac's usual level of expressiveness, especially in a form as untamed as Devidramon, now he was being eerily silent. Then he flew upwards, his tattered wings seeming to swell to twice their usual size. He swung them back, catching as much wind as possible, and then dove down towards the monster's back.
Much like how isaac's limbs distended upon his last charge, now his tail was doing much of the same. It tail twisted and coiled, almost as if trying not just to impale the monster but also to drill into her. For a while he seemed to be moving at the same pace as all of his other dives, but much like everything else about Isaac this had changed. Where normally Isaac would wait until his dive made contact, now his tail stretched forward as if it was another limb. Not only would the punching motion come as a surprise, but it would also add even more heft and momentum to an already rapid attack.
Clearly, the group's troubles weren't over yet.
Combat log:
Red Line: 2/3 Posts of the duration done. Corrupted Body Still active. Isaac descends from the sky towards Alicia, aiming a dead-on-target Imp-Ale.[/quote]

With the Arcana Draw invoked and the query made, Mitsuko’s answer was quick to arrive. The card in question glowed even brighter then before, a shine that would fill tamer and angel with a sense that the chosen course of action would yield the desired result.
A pity the question did not factor Isaac’s own madness into the equation, or they might’ve been prepared for what the corrupted dragon did next. One could hardly find fault in them though. They were ignorant to the full effects this twisted form had upon him. Thus the cybernetic horror below them was left to fend for herself as the D-Evidramon dove for her.
‘Is... aac...’
She could understand what had happened. Whatever had done this to him had left him at least as unstable as she currently was. He couldn’t possibly be in control at the moment. Her little adopted brother would never callously lunge for the death blow like that. The Monster in turned howled, struggling to rise, to do anything to save herself.
If there was one thing they could agree upon, it was the desire for survival. Faster then thought the two pieces began to co-operate for the first time, at least in part. The metalic forelimb sunk into her shadow once more. Just as the tail was stretching and lashing out, blades erupted from The Monster’s own shadow, angled so that they separated her from him. It had barely been raised in time, and They winced in tandem as metal snapped and groaned under the force and weight. This wasn’t what the Phantom Steel move was meant for, but it would suffice for the moment.
Managing to get her legs under herself, the Monster snarled, only to recoil from the mental reprisal it got as Alicia gathered herself up a little more. With a tensing of those limbs, the Cybercursedramon flung itself away from the would-be clash. It wasn’t quite fast enough though, that fiendish tail found an opening and broke through, skewering the beast in her side and tearing out with the jump.
’Gh-! Aaah!’
The Monster shrieked in pain as her side burned from the gooey Red Line infused strike, collapsing and rolling further away. Alicia herself would’ve instinctively sought for the wound to cover it, had she been in full control. But at least, this time she was capable of rising. The cyber dragon loosed a weak roar as The Monster railed against Alicia’s will.
One part wished to visit the same agony upon Isaac that was dealt to her.
The other wished only for the nightmare to finally end.
Wielder and spirit fell further out of sync, and it began to reflect on the damaged Cybercursedramon’s body. Crackling static ran over her entire body, audible even from a distance. It was severe enough that entire limbs seemed to ‘faze out of existence’ as rippling nonsense before correcting itself, and the beast was hardly of sure foot even without that. Perhaps Mitsuko would even recognize what was going on as a similar, if more drastic, case of what had occurred with ZekeGreymon back in the tundra.
Either way, she wouldn’t be able to take another hit. Not like this. And no one could predict what may happen if she were forced to revert in this condition. Could she even revert while the Monster raged?
Battle log
The Monster/Alicia takes a significant blow from the Imp-ale. She is/They are very near collapse from accumulated damage and extraneous reasons.

Mitsuko's deep blue eyes widened as the card stopped glowing, and a golden card was within her grasp. The words "Yes, have faith." Were emblazoned in white upon the card. Her heart leapt as her eyes filled with tears of joy. However this moment of bliss was only a fleeting one as she watched Isaac's decent.
"Isaac... ISAAC!" Mitsuko screamed at the top of her lungs. "No... stop... NO!!!"
"Suki-chan..." MagnaAngemon's voice was soft "I don't think he's the one with us right now..."
The silverette's eyes widened in horror as she realized what Isaac, or well the thing that took over Isaac, intended to do. She couldn't stop him... she couldn't reach Alicia... she was truly powerless...
"ALICIA!!!" Mitsuko screamed, her voice ripping through several octaves. Her own screams mixed with the beasts. Whereas the beast was shrieking in physical pain, Mitsuko's was psychological. Isaac, the sweet faced boy who dated one of her best friends. The older brother of Elliot. No, this couldn't be happening. Alicia, her DNA partner. The girl that literally helped her find her partner, and gave her a crash course of the Digital World. Was this truly what they were Digi-Destined for? Pain? Torture? Eventually going mad, and turning upon each other? No, she couldn't believe that. She had to have hope!
Mitsuko's screams ended in soft sobs that wracked her slender frame. She watched in agony as the card within her hand exploded into bits of data, trailing off into the sky. No, she couldn't give up. She couldn't give in. She was the only one of sound mind right now, she had to be strong. She had to handle this on her own! The silverette sniffled, as she rubbed her arm across her face, drying her tears. MagnaAngemon tightened his hold upon his partner, as they floated above the scene.
"Enough's enough." Mitsuko said determinedly, her jaw tightening into a hard line. "The time for crying is over." Mitsuko's eyes widened as she saw the quick rippling that happened to Alicia. She had seen this before, but where... a memory tickled at the back of her mind.
She didn't have time to worry about that right now, she had to choose. Should she heal Alicia, and risk Isaac turning upon her as well? Or did she restrain Isaac, and risk having the beast attack? She watched in awe as Isaac seemed prepared to start yet another attack. Alicia couldn't handle much more of this, and to be honest neither could Mitsuko. "MagnaAngemon, get him out of here!" Mitsuko had finally decided. Alicia's need was much greater at this time. Making a decision was always the hardest part, but once her mind was made up Mitsuko would easily follow her path. The angel nodded his head as his purple sword sliced through the air, creating a circle.
"Gate of Destiny!" MagnaAngemon called out as a golden gate appeared, spinning and unlocking in front of Isaac. Perhaps Isaac's own momentum would carry him inside of it, or the vortex of wind sucking in everything would grab him. One thing was certain if this failed the duo would not only have an angry injured beast on her hands; but also a pissed off devil beast as well.
Battle Log:
1. MagnaAngemon tries to use Gate of Destiny on Isaac - 0/3 Cooldown.

Whatever was currently weighing on Isaac, it wasn't the impulse of a wild beast. A wild beast would have been startled by the barrier of blades, zooming away in fear of counterattack. Whatever was the source of this was either even stupider than a rampaging beast or supremely confident in its abilities. Judging by the way that the Phantom Steel was groaning, shuddering, and snapping underneath the brightly glowing Devidramon's weight, the answer was clearly confidence. It was a good thing that Alicia had found the strength to get moving, or else the onslaught would have started even sooner than expected. Glowing tendrils seemed to snake through the gaps in the Phantom Steel, writhing towards Alicia as she started the long crawl. Red liquid seemed to coagulate around the blades as they finally began to bend inwards, finally freeing itself from the restraints to lunge forward.
The Devidramon whizzed past Alicia, and the same red liquid that ate through the Phantom Steel was now eating into her side. Grey scales and mechanical sparks shot from the site of the impact, a fact that would have left a predator all too hungry to press the onslaught. Instead, the dragon swooped into the air, eyespots opening all around its body to survey the situation. It hung in the air as if frozen in time, wings not even fluttering to stay aloft and chest not even heaving to keep breathing. Were it not for the constant darting and asynchronous blinking of its eye spots, it would seem like little more than a statue.
The shriek of pain was exactly what Isaac needed to hear. This beast had completely replaced his friend. It had taken over her mind, and was now playing possum to try and get pity. The second he dropped his guard, that horrifying orb full of blades would appear with him in the epicenter, and another one of those attacks would have diced him to bits. Whatever this thing was, it was no different from the Reaper. It was no better than it. And the second this corruption was purged, the sooner he could purge the corruption inside of him.
Yet another scream penetrated his battle focus. It was Mitsuko, first screaming his name, then screaming Alicia's. As soon as she called for Alicia every single one of Isaac's eye-spots fixated on her. Slowly but surely his head turned to her as well, looking her up and down. A low, droning noise came from his throat. Was it a growl? A warning? Whatever it was, it wasn't anything more than that. After echoing this noise, Isaac turned back to Alicia, flinging his wings out to catch the air before descending in another hellish divebomb.
A shame he didn't see the Gate of Destiny coming. He was so hyperfocused on ending this corruption, so hyperfocused on destroying this last, greatest enemy, that he didn't even see the gate emerging in mid-dive. Immediately his body started to rotate around, in a way that didn't even make sense for a flying creature to do. It was almost as if his body had swiveled around his side, starting with his head and slowly rotating until he had done a complete about-face. He stuck his claw and tail into the ground, furiously glaring at Mitsuko. Each eyespot seemed to communicate a different feeling: Shock. Betrayal. Outrage. Worry? Nevertheless, it would be too late for guilt trips. The Gate of Destiny would only start pulling more strongly.
Droplets of red began peeling off of Isaac's body as he slid back, leaving trails of red goo and claw marks in the ground all the way. His tail was the first to detach, pulling Isaac's lower body into the gate while his arms furiously dug in. They stretched back, preventing Isaac from fully being lost, but the storm of red droplets coming from his body was only worsening. It was as if he was being flayed alive. As the red droplets fell bigger and faster he let out a pained, almost confused roar, a few goopy strands connecting the "mouth" that seemed to split between his unnaturally smooth face.
Each second the Devidramon was pulled more closely into the Gate, his already serpentine body stretching out to impossible-looking degrees. What could he even do anymore besides start returning fire? He looked down at the ground and began spewing out large plumes of green flame, which promptly lit up the dead grass around the Wasteland. Where it ignited it started to travel, snaking towards Alicia and MagnaAngemon in unpredictable spirals. However, this was a token effort at best. Isaac could only belch fire to his heart's content as his left claw slipped off of the gate, leaving him dangling by a single hand. Red liquid corroded golden metal, and his claw threatened to seep into the resulting cracks to practically glue himself in there, but it wasn't enough.
With an echoing snap, the Devidramon's right hand cracked off, still tightly wrapped around it as Isaac tumbled into the holy void. It hung on for a few more seconds, only to be pushed off as the Gate of Destiny's door slammed shut. The hand tumbled to the ground, landing with a wet plop before dissolving into a puddle of red liquid.
The Wasteland fell silent.
Combat log:
D-Evidramon is sucked into the Gate of Destiny, defiant as always yet overcome by its force. On the way in, D-Evidramon desperately fires Chaotic Flame. Red Line: 3/3 Posts of the duration done. Not that it would protect much against the Gate. Corrupted Body remains to be seen . . .

... This was how it was going to end, wasn’t it? Alicia could’ve never seen this kind of ending coming. Truly, the Gate of Destiny was doing much to remove Isaac from this situation. However, it wasn’t quite fast enough. The warped dragon was able to fire off one last burst of flame that twisted along the earth, rushing towards them. The Monster too had no strength left in it’s limbs. It couldn’t evade, It couldn’t endure.
‘I’m... so sorry...’ The trapped spirit wielder grimaced deep with in, blaming herself for this entire mess. If she hadn’t gone alone, if she just had the presence of mind to suspect things could go worse than they ever had before... She wasn’t even sure if Sol and Kisara even existed anymore. Mitsuko and MagnaAngemon may be near by, but deep within her own thoughts were it counted most?
She was well and truly alone for the first time since being given her D-Scanner. And that thought jabbed at her heart more than anything else. She’d brought this entire mess upon herself though... she dared to go to such a dangerous place alone. She let herself snap under everything that had happened and... become this thing. She believed she was entirely at fault for this horror.
”Hell of a way to meet up again, ‘eh kids?” another voice cut in as a new figure interposed itself between the fire and the tamer, angel, and Monster. The dinosaur let out a pained grunt as the flames washed over him and sputtered out, scorching his side purely from the level difference between him and the D-Evidramon. In fact the only reason he could bare it so well was that it was hastily launched, without it’s full force behind it.
But who...?
”From deathly chills to scorching infernos... I sure hope this doesn’t become a trend.” Alicia had finally gotten a better look at the newcomer, dark blue scales with orange stripes and a black ‘helmet’ with a metal strip over the top, the tail looking like it ended in a short, bladed cannon.
The Greymon she’d liberated her light-side Beast Spirit from... and subsequently hauled out to safety, even after he had dealt a crippling blow to her with the last of his strength. But why?
”So what’s the plan, Silver?” Greymon quipped, not knowing the tamer’s name and so addressing her by the most prominent feature he noticed about her, in this case her long hair. ”There’s not much more I can think of to do if she flips out again.”
It was a stark contrast from how they’d first met him, in the icy caverns and taking a ‘kill or be killed’ approach to life. Now the saurian seemed... far more amiable and reasonable. He of course knew what happened back then, but he’d never been seen again by Mitsuko, Maia, Patamon, or Kuu after their fight.

((OOC: Okay, this post is really long. But there were a lot of points to cover. I had Bone's permission to "Mod" Isaac to make this post flow a bit better. I hope you guys enjoy it!))
Several emotions coursed through Mitsuko. Sadness and regret at having to resort to such a tactic to remedy this situation. Anger for being put into a situation like this, as if she had to choose between two close friends. Fear that she had made the wrong decision. Shame because she betrayed someone so dear to her. Yet most importantly, was hope. Hope that she would find a way to make this all go away!
That hope continued its hold deep within her soul. The silverette knew she was on the right path, at least that is what her Mother had always said. Whatever you feel the strongest, follow it. It is your intuition, it shall never lead you wrong. "Sorry, Isaac. I'm so sorry..." Her voice cut off as he disappeared through the void. She couldn't give way to her emotions, not now. She had to be strong, as she said before the time for tears was over. Now was a time of action. She had to remember the lessons of what it meant to be the Bearer of Harmony. She had to invoke the namesake of her crest, and continue forward with the plan she had.
However, her inner monologue was cut rather short, with one final burst of flames coming from Isaac. A new threat upon the battlefront, one she really didn't have time for. One she wished she didn't have to deal with. And again, her prayers were answered in a rather unconventional way.
Greymon. Or at least it appeared like a form of the Greymon she had encountered, it seemed a lifetime ago. Well, apparently he had a new respect for humans. He didn't want to kill her or her partner this time. And he called her Silver, well at least it was a step up from dinner. "Perfect timing." Her voice was steady, even if her knees didn't seem to have the same confidence. "I have a plan, but it's a bit of a long shot..."
Mitsuko took a deep breath, it was now or never. "Mister Greymon, Sir, I need you to try to hold Alicia down, as best as you can. We can't have her thrash about and ruin what we are trying to achieve." At this point she turned towards MagnaAngemon. "This all relies upon you. You have the ability to heal wounds, so why not try to heal the wounds inside of her mind. Psychological trauma is still trauma, it can be mended."
MagnaAngemon gave his tamer a grave smile. "Yes, but physical wounds are something else entirely. I can see what I'm healing, and how to properly deal with it. Something like this... is too risky. I wouldn't even know where to begin."
"I have faith in you, in us." Mitsuko's answer shook her partner to his core. She seemed so confident in their abilities. Well, at least it was a start! "Besides, we already have the tools to allow you to see the damage, so to speak."
It wasn't often that MagnaAngemon was speechless, and this was one of those times. "We start with healing a physical part of her, to open the bridge between body and mind. We then use that bridge to cross into her mind, as you have done in the past. Body, mind, heart and soul. Beating together. As one."
"DNA Evolution..." MagnaAngemon finished Mitsuko's thought. "It would allow me to enter her mind, and travel to where her mind is damaged. That is... a long shot... but brilliant!" His smile was genuine, as he turned towards the Greymon. "Alright, you heard the lady, let's do this!"
Mitsuko nodded, and they all got into position. MagnaAngemon held his hands at either side of Alicia's head, they were glowing with a small golden white light. "Alright, this will be tricky."
"But we can do it. Have faith." Mitsuko answered, her hand resting gently upon MagnaAngemon's arm. "One last thing, whatever you do... Do NOT break the bond. No matter what. It could break the bond, and fragment not only herself... but you could get lost too. I couldn't bear losing both of you."
The angel just nodded his head, as his wings began to unfurl. "MagnaAntidote."
When the light seemed to reach a pinnicle of brightness, Mitsuko knew that was their cue. It was time to see if this would really work. Mitsuko and MagnaAngemon's voices rang out together.
"Let our hearts beat as one."
The angel's wings extended further, as he recited the next line.
"Holy rays temper the many blades."
Mitsuko placed a hand, gently upon Alicia's forehead. Her voice carrying on strongly.
"Blessed steel carries the cause of justice."
Finally, both Tamer and Digimon chorused together in one final line.
"Our wills unite to shelter our dear comrades!"
There was almost a physical feeling to the amount of power racing through the area. It was as if the air itself was vibrating. Mitsuko closed her eyes, all hope laid upon her only plan.
And what a plan it was. With what seemed like a small ripple, MagnaAngemon materialized within Alicia's psyche. MagnaAngemon had melded with Alicia before. However, during those times the area seemed so light, warm, and welcoming. This was different. The feeling of despair was palpable. There seemed to be black, web like strands coating every inch of her mind. To make matters worse, these strands seemed to want to hold on, and never let go.
"If I were to guess... This is the psycho-physiological manifestation of Madness itself..." MagnaAngemon theorized, as he raised a hand and swiped at the webs. They stuck for a moment before turning white and melting away, blown away like dust into the wind. Madness could only consume those who were susceptible to it. Being of sound mind, and part Angel, had to have its perks here. The hardest part was over, he was able to enter into Alicia's mind. Now he had to race against the clock and actually find her. That wasn't an easy task either, but one he had more confidence in. His purple sword snapped from it's sheath, as his wings took flight deeper within Alicia's mind.
Mitsuko stepped away, once the thrum of power coursed around them. She knew he was in, and any interference would destroy any hopes they had. The gravel crunched beneath her shoes, as she looked skywards. Have faith. Those two words seemed like nothing, in theory. But right now they were everything. Never before had two small words have the power to balance her entire world. She held her digivice tightly against her chest, her head bowed down in prayer. Things would be fine, right? That is when she felt a blast of energy enter the area. Her head snapped up, but it was strange. Her partner, and Alicia seemed to still be in a trance. So what had she sensed? Her eyes trailed the scene, her mouth dropping open in shock as she finally realized what had happened. The Gate of Destiny had finally returned, and with it... one pissed off Devidramon. The brief moment of peace and hope was going to end rather quickly... and violently!
Mitsuko ran as fast as she could. Each step was an eternity, as if wading through quicksand with leaden weights attached to her feet. Fire burned within her lungs, she could taste a strange mixture of blood and bile within her mouth. She screamed, trying to reason with the devil!
"Isaac! Stop! Please!"
Mitsuko didn't know what to do! What could she do? She was just a human! Isaac's face was contorted with malice and hatred. The Devidramon's body shifting into an attack her partner had once before deflected. Imp-ale! He shot like a bullet, tail first, aiming to kill.
"No... Isaac!"
He was getting closer, she was too slow! She needed to be faster! Her feet slid upon the gravel as her arms flew out wide, as if she could protect Alicia.
"NO!"
Mitsuko's eyes widened, at the realization. Two heartbeats. That was all it took. A small moment of silence, followed by a bloodcurdling scream and a metallic thunk as her D-Arc fell to the ground.
MagnaAngemon had somehow lost track of time. He had been in this never ending darkness, blazing a path of light deeper and deeper into Alicia's mind. Had it been seconds or minutes? Hours or days? Everything seemed distorted here, and when it started to make sense, everything changed yet again. Growls and snarls echoed all around him, but he continued further. Soon realizing that the louder they got, the closer he must be getting. Finally he reached an area, of what seemed to be one giant web-like mass. And in the center of it, an unconcious pale girl with a dark scar and a mound of firey red hair. Well, not unconcious per se, but delerious. She was muttering apologies, over and over.
"Alicia, wake up. Snap out of it!" MagnaAngemon called out to her, as his blade cut through the first layer of webbing. "You need to focus. I'm here. We're here. Mitsuko's counting on you. On us!" With each sentence he slashed another layer free. It was taking a long time, and making little progress. That was until the webbing started to re-wire itself back onto Alicia's frame.
"Right... she's susceptible." His voice was grave, but he had one more idea. "And... I'm an Angel." With that, he opened his wings, and let forth the stream of power that was coursing through his physical body, and into his mental projection. Pure holy healing energy radiated off of him in burst like waves. Each pulse removing layers quickly, where they burned away and fell into nothingness. Once the last bit of black strands fell away, MagnaAngemon cradled the fragile looking frame of his DNA Partner. "Alicia... We need to get back. Mitsuko..."
MagnaAngemon's voice faltered, but it wasn't just that. His body was faltering too. Damn. He had used too much energy, and was reverting back. The battle wasn't even over yet. "I don't have time. Follow me. Please..." And with his final plea, his body de-materialized, leaving behind a golden thread. Hopefully Alicia would use it, to pull herself back.
Mitsuko's vision was blurring in and out, like a camera zoom that was severely out of focus. Slowly her eyes fell to where the pain was the greatest, her stomach. Her hand touched Isaac's tail, where it connected to... no through... her stomach. How strange. Mitsuko pulled her hand away, and looked at it for a moment. It was coated in a deep crimson color, it was warm, sticky, and smelled strongly of iron and burning sugar. Blood. Her hand was coated with her own blood.
"Oh..." Mitsuko said softly, as she looked at her startling contrast between her blood, and her pale skin. She gently placed it upon Isaac's cheek, or at least where his cheek should be. "Isaac... Sorry..." A small trickle of blood escaped the corner of the Silverette's mouth. Mitsuko's voice finally gave out, as her hand slid down his face, leaving behind a trail of her blood. Her eyes slowly glassing over, as her vision became worse. She was cold. Really cold.
The Devidramon withdrew his tail, with a sickening suction sound. Mitsuko's legs gave out, and she fell to the ground face first. It didn't hurt, not as much as her stomach anyway. Even that was fading slightly. She watched as a red puddle slowly started to surround her, soaking into her clothes, staining her silver hair a soft pinkish color. She couldn't speak, and honestly all she wanted to do was finally fall asleep.
As MagnaAngemon reverted back into his own mind, his form shattered not once, but twice. He had been so enveloped within Alicia's mind, everything else had truly been on a realm of its own. Patamon floated in the air, quite confused. He had energy, so what had he lost his form? The first thing he saw was that Devidramon was back.
More importantly, his tamer was on the ground. Patamon's eyes widened in horror, as the pool of blood grew beneath her. "S-suki-chan?" His small voice crumbled, it was the most heartbreaking sound you could imagine. It was filled with so much sadness, and defeat. That was until the digivice stopped beeping, and the screen went from a golden white, to a flat black. His voice shrieked a grief none could have ever imagined.
"NO! MITSUKOOOO!"

D-Evidramon's featureless face once more split into a dripping jaw as it looked over the carnage that it had caused. Then it turned to the moon, letting out a roar that was equal parts furious and weary. As the roar echoed away into the night, only ragged breathing was left in its wake. D-Evidramon took one shaky step forward, then another, and then collapsed entirely onto the ground. Its eyespots all squeezed shut as its head lolled to the side, and then it had fallen perfectly still.
Slowly, the Devidramon started to change. The glow around its body changed from a neon red to a pale, almost moonlit white, and its chest rose and fell in unstable shudders. With each second the demonic dragon shrunk a little bit more, tail and wings receding into its body as its limbs and snakelike body started to short. Soon the original form of the Ultimate had reasserted itself: an Impmon, not a sign of corruption or instability on him. He had curled into an almost fetal position, bandanna wrapped gently around his mouth and head resting against the softest parts of the burnt, bramble-filled grass. While quite a few deep cuts and shadowy burns lined his body, his energy had stabilized and taken him away from death's door. He may have been unconscious, but it almost looked like he was sleeping.
Did he even realize what he had done?
