It was a Saturday afternoon. Nothing special, just another regular Saturday like always. At least, that's what Adam though when the day started. His best friend, Brandon, had come over for a day of gaming. His sister, Kate, had no plans for the day, so she joined in. Whenever Adam wasn't playing, he was checking stuff on the internet. It was during a snack break when Adam was on his computer. Everything seemed to be going normal, until his computer screen started flickering. The three kids were just about to huddle up when the entire room lit up with a bright white light. When the light dissipated, all that was left was an empty bedroom.
The next thing Adam remembered was waking up laying on his back, a slight pain in his side. After his eyes adjusted, he gazed up at the sky and began to wonder where he was now. Sitting up, he began to look around and immediately realized he wasn't in his room anymore. He wasn't even inside anymore. To his left seemed to some sort of woods, and to his right was a stream. What he noticed that was quite bothersome; Kate and Brandon were no where to be found. He was obviously in unknown territory, but he had to find the two of them.
Slowly and safely, he got to his feet. Worried about what might await in the woods, he decided to go with a more logical choice. Adam started following the stream, stopping every few seconds and calling out for Brandon and Kate. After what seemed like hours but was probably only twenty minutes, Adam started to become really worried. Was it possible they were still back in the bedroom? If so, where was he and how was he going to get back to them. It was the moment this thought passed through his mind that he heard a rustling coming from the woods.

Colin James was relaxing on the hillside, laying on his back on the warm, soft grass. He wasn't thinking about much, just relaxing and recharging following the events of the past few days. It had been a heck of an adventure here in the digital world, and it seems that he now had the power to biomerge with his twin partners.
At either side, his partners were also laying down. One was an Elecmon variant, with a more slender bipedal appearance and purple fur in the place of blue. And the other was an Impmon variant, covered with cat-like purple fur with white on his face and chest. This was Luke and Bellamy, twin brothers that were now and always Colin's partners.
Colin himself had undergone a change from the biomerge - his eyes had a slight red tint to them. Not glowing or negative, just a weary, battle-worn look to them now. After all, Colin had gone through a bit more than the average 14 year old.
"Hey Bellamy, what does that cloud there remind you of?" Luke asked, pointing to one above.
"Hikaru's floof" the Impmon answered, smirking.
"You're meant to be more creative than that, Bells" Luke pointed out, but smiled a little.
"Okay then, Owen's floof" Bellamy said. Luke sighed, giving up. Silence then followed, until Luke heard something. His ears flicked, then he sat up, looking down in the valley below. Other than the trickling of the valley stream, and the rustling of the leaves in the trees, he could hear some noise. It sounded like a human. Before long, Colin and Bellamy heard it too.
"What's that?" Colin asked, shaken out of his relaxation, sitting up.
"Sounds like someone calling for 'Brandon' and 'Kate'" Luke said, his long ears slightly better at picking up noises. "Wanna go check it out?"
"Yeah, let's do that" Colin said. And so he and his partners jogged down the hill toward the origin of the noise. Crossing the stream at a shallow point, careful not to lose their footing as they jumped across the rocks, they made their way into the light woodlands, all until they encountered a boy that seemed slightly older than Colin.
"Hi there" Colin said, waving. "Are you looking for someone?"

For a moment, Adam was hopeful and excited. He was almost positive it was going to be Brandon and Kate that stepped out of the woods. Then his smile vanished as a kid who seemed slightly younger than him popped out. The kid was trying to be helpful, at least. He'd asked Adam if he was looking for someone, and of course the young man had been. Stepping towards the kid, he began to answer. "I was, actually. My sister and be..." Before he finished his sentence, he noticed the creatures with the boy, and his words got stuck in his throat.
Stopping him in his tracks, Adam took one step back before speaking again. "Um...who...what...are those?" He'd never seen anything like them before; not outside of a comic book, video game, or television show. The creatures looked like animals, but then again they looked...different. One of them appeared to be a bi-pedal creature almost resembling an imp. He was purple with a white abdomen wearing a red scarf. The other creature was a quadruped that Adam couldn't quite place what animal it resembled. It seemed to be wearing a pair of bracers, and a blue scarf could be seen around it's neck.
Adam realized after a moment that what he said might be considered rude. He decided to try courage, and actually walked up to the young man and the funny creatures. It was a bit unlike him, but being in this new land made him feel like someone else. He was still Adam, just with a little more fire inside him. He extended his hand to the young man in front of him. "Sorry about that. My name is Adam. Who, may I ask, are you?"

Colin could tell that this guy was probably new to the digital world, given how startled he seemed to be at the sight of Luke and Bellamy. Thankfully he didn't seem scared of them, after all, they were just in their rookie forms.
Further, Colin noted from Adam's name and accent that he seemed to be from America, like him. So he was sure to converse in English.
"Hi, Adam. I'm Colin and these are my partners Luke and Bellamy" he said, offering his hand to shake. "They're well... beings known as Digimon" he explained.
"Hiya" Luke said, waving a little. He had a jolly, friendly tone of voice with an accent that matched Colin's.
"Yo what up?" Bellamy said, winking and striking a pose, having a more streetwise Brooklyn accent.
"So... you might wanna sit down for this talk" Colin said, giving an awkward kind of smile. "First thing's first, "You're not in Kansas anymore Dorothy".
"Holy smokes, Batman, that's a 9001 on the cliche-ometer" Bellamy drawled. Colin sweatdropped a little, supposing that was true.
"Basically, this is the digital world" Luke explained. "Somehow you got transported here. It's been happening to a lot of humans lately, but, it's a good thing we found you. The digital world can be a dangerous place".
"Yeah, that's right" Colin said. "So, uh, I suppose you've got a million questions, so, I'll do what I can to answer them" he smiled. Man, it had been a while since he had last met a newcomer to this place. He hoped that he'd make a good impression.

Adam nodded in turn to Colin, Luke, and Bellamy as each was introduced. A moment later, he decided to take Colin's advice, and found a nice place to sit down. After he had made himself comfortable, Colin made an outdated reference that Adam actually appreciated. He made those types of references himself all the time. An opportunity to do so happened moments later. Bellamy called Colin's reference a 9001 on the cliche-ometer. "I guess you could say his cliche was...over 9000." Adam chuckled to himself, hoping the others would appreciate his joke.
Calming down, he listened to Luke's explanation, and became slightly less worried about his sister and friend. If other humans had been showing up a lot, perhaps they'd also been found. It was only slightly heartening, because Adam knew that not all humans were helpful. He still needed to find his companions, especially Kate. He was her older brother, he was supposed to take care of her. If anything bad happened to her, Adam wasn't sure what he do, how he would react.
Colin spoke up, willing to answer any question Adam might have. As much as he was worried about Brandon and Kate, those weren't the first questions to pop into his head. Right now, there was really only one thing he was wondering about. "What exactly do you mean when you call these guys your partners? How does that work?" Adam then pulled his phone from his pocket and tried to see if there was any service, while waiting for Colin to reply.

Adam's words were so cliche that Bellamy was speechless for a moment, then did a kind of ridiculous anime stagger on the grass. Luke and Colin chose to ignore him, sitting down as well.
The first question that was asked was why he called Luke and Bellamy his partners. Bellamy recovered from his silly moment and sat next to Colin as well. "Well, to start with, most people that come here unexpectedly do so for a purpose - they're generally somehow bonded to digimon like these guys and some strange power out there is working to bring us together" he explained. "I met these guys when I, uh, got on the wrong train and ended up in this world somehow" he patted both of their backs.
"And after that it's been awesome havin' Colin around" Bellamy grinned, sitting casually, one knee raised and resting his arm on it. "We digimon often get stronger if our partner's around to evolve us".
"Ah, right, that's another important thing" Colin said, reaching into his pocket and pulled out a purple, red and white device. "This is a digivice, you get that if you come across a partner. If you find one, don't lose it".
"You'd generally get one if you manage to find a partner" Luke added. "And I'm sure they're out there somewhere nearby. But, well, if not, then that's okay. It's fairly easy to return to Earth from here. We can show you how if you want to return home".
