What was she going to really do? Charge a digimon that she didn't know if they had money or not? Absolutely not. She couldn't just turn them away and if anything it'd help out with business a little bit knowing that this area was safer because of the people that resided here. She'd sigh softly eyeing the mikemon; she could tell the individual was tired but honestly what was she supposed to expect? With the way he looked when he had shown up last night? She tilted her head slightly as he indulged her question with a very surprising answer; she blinked and raised a brow.
"Whitewater? I uhm... I'm not sure why I'd go to whitewater sir, this is my home."
Oh lords she was not expecting that in the least bit, then there was the follow up explanation. He was right about the state of this location. He was most certainly right about her field medic training as well. But the problem is that she and the apothecary simply weren't equipped to handle as much as they should of.
"Yes, quite some time ago. Some angel army wanted me trained for treating soldiers on the battlefield and whatnot."
She'd shrug slightly; she didn't exactly remember how long ago this army had clashed with their virus counterparts. But it couldn't of been too long ago? Likely just a decade or so.. Oh if only she knew the actual timeframe. She'd grit her teeth a little bit and shake her head at the following reasoning and explanation of what he thought she should do.
"I know it's not enough, I'm an Inkeep not a doctor. You said you were the sole practitioner in whitewater though? What could they possibly send this way to fix this? Unless they have medics and doctors in proper training?"
She found a frown easing it's way on her face and she'd shake her head.
"And why would you do that? No offense sir but we just met yesterday."

Right away, K seemed at least a bit 'put off' by the idea, if not outright shocked under her furrowed brow. To Dr. Mikemon, this was the expected result, and anyone else in the world would probably have moved to explain themselves first. But then again, that just wasn't how this doctor worked.
In short order, he learned a few more things about the fox: not only was this Renamon a field medic, she'd actually been in active duty. And to that, the Mikemon gave a nod: "Angel army... ah yes, about eleven years ago, there was a bit of an upright figure from the Empyrian Skies wanting to whittle down a little group, who wandered just a little too close to the edge of the Dark Area." Was this the same fight? Mikemon didn't know, but its what came to mind! At any rate, the topic passed soon enough, the Mikemon giving his coffee an idle stir.
K's next question, though, made him raise his own brow. "I'm the sole - oh, no, sorry, I'm a sole practitioner in Whitewater. The coast has the second-largest hospital in the Digital World, second only to Terminus itself. But I'm both a medical researcher and a data-analyst specialist, so I'm permitted a few... 'levels of separation' from the rest of the community. Case in point, if I was a doctor who came upon a town this... I apologize for saying this, 'lacking', I would have to assess if I should just settle down here. And if not, I'd have to find someone willing to."
The Mikemon spoke of this casually, and was just a bit rough on the edges with the details. Clearly, this wasn't a responsibility he held to heart. "I'm not saying you have to come with me tomorrow; I'm saying come by my office when you do."
And to that last point... well, he sighed. "... Because as a medic, you have a rare 'sense'. Straight to the point, willing to bite your own lip for what's better, and not to mention way more 'kind' then I'll ever be with a patient. You'd do well as my second pair of hands."
Was that even a compliment?

K shook her head at his guess, that didn't sound right. They were no where near the dark area, in fact they spent most of their time in the plains and forest. Had people already forgotten? How long ago was it actually? She felt the need to correct the mikemon.
"No, that wasn't the one. We were no where near the dark area. We were in the forest and plains fighting against an equal if not greater demon or devil one. Quite violent I assure you."
She'd shrug a bit and frown slightly as he explained what he meant by the sole practitioner. It made sense but she couldn't help the feeling of suspicion she was getting; or at least the hesitance. She'd nod slowly as she thought what he said through; each bit making more sense than the last.
"All right that makes sense. I've dealt with actual doctors n whatnot before so i get it. You don't have to apologize, we've been lacking quite a few things for a long time now. Would it be in your best interests to settle down in such a remote location though? Or anyones?"
She'd sigh and shake her head slowly; looking down at her hands that frown sliding off of her face after a few moments.
"I see."
She thought over what he said; tapping the table pensively. He had a point on that entire regard but she couldn't just up and leave this place to work with a digimon she had just met! What would canton and them think? But she knew that this would nag at her for a long time if she did do it or didn't.It was a jumble really.
"On the field there's no time for pleasantires normally, you get quick to the point regardless of your own desires or position. That was part of the training I underwent and it stuck as you can clearly see."
K would sigh and pat the table; the wood clunking oddly as she did so.
"We recently only met and you're suggesting me leave my lively-hood sooner rather than later. What would you even have me do as your 'second pair of hands'? change patients out? Initial inspection? Reception? How can you even be sure that I'm even worth anything after just a single patient? Forgive me sir, but I believe you're being needlessly foolish. Were I you; I'd of suggested a test or something rather than going off of the results of a singular and possibly manipulated scenario."

"Hm, that so? The angels are a lot more active than I thought, then..." The Mikemon didn't mind being corrected, just shrugging the harmless mistake off. After all, she was still here, so they had to handle that demon-whatever-thing one way or another, right?
The Renamon soon turned the spotlight on him, though: would he be better off here? The Mikemon took another sip of his coffee, before giving a sigh. "For me, not at all. I've got quite a bit more on my plate than this place... that said, there would probably be someone who'd like this place's local charm. Someone who would like a nice, tight-knit town like this..." He almost seemed to consider it for a moment, before shaking the thought out of his head. It seemed the matter of her coming to Whitewater at one point or another to request for a doctor was settled.
Her supposed apprenticeship, on the other hand, was still something that was held on the table. The doctor listened as she explained her training - the doctor knew there was more to it than she was saying, or at least he believe that - as well as her 'complaint' about giving her so much credit this early on. Closing his eyes, he spun his coffee stirrer between his fingers, just letting that all sink in. "Well, I already have a Stingmon as a receptionist... the minimum required for that was having a good word with most of the city's markets. But starting out, you'd be an assistant, then a nurse."
The Mikemon gave a nod. "And your 'test' would be attending classes or viewings at the hospital. I could see if you're worth it off the test grades... and if it doesn't work out, you'd have another trick or ten to use for your impromptu patients at the inn. But, really, that much is up to you. To take it this far, you must really be considering the offer."
He left it at that, the cat stretching his back out. "Anyway... I should probably take a look around town, see if I can pick up on any clues. We might be able to corner this spider if we can figure out where it lives..."

"were more active, I don't think they are as much anymore. Couldn't really tell you. If they were I feel as though the area would be a little more..."
K would trail off; knowing exactly where that train of thought was going. It'd be a mess, everyone would have to adhere to laws they might not of agreed with. Some people found solace in the rules that were put down while others struggled to maintain the basic ones.
"Structured. Which would be a damn pain for many people."
She'd flick her ears and pour herself a mug of coffee. She didn't really indulge very often; but she could tell this was going to be a very long day with how this conversation was bound to play out.
"I see. I suppose finding one that would fit in line with the beliefs; you could imagine how things would go if a virus attribute tried to settle here. The only reason I was so well recieved is because of my nature; which is absolute malarky. You don't judge someone just based off of attribute."
She'd sip at the coffee as the mikemon started to explain where she would of started out. She sighed softly and shook her head; an assistant huh? Changing bags, taking readings and general cleaning. She knew the damage; she knew the stress. She had left that behind when the angel army had fell.
"An assistant, so changin patients out, takin readings, general cleaning and just basically makin your life easier as the 'doctor' goes. Unless that's not the bit you're meanin by assistant."
She'd grip her mug tighter as the mikemon explained the 'test', sighing softly as she knew exactly what he was meaning. There was still an air of adventure left in her that much was damn certain. But she wanted to settle down not jump back into things again! Right?
"I'm not much for classes, they do jack all if you can't put them to patient properly. I've seen quite a few medics that did stunningly in training only flop in the field. Formal training isn't something I can afford again, if I was younger sure."
At the last bit of her actually considering it; she had to admit she was. At this point she wasn't paying attention to how much force that was on her mug. It broke easily under the strain she was putting on it. The shards and coffee spilling onto the table. With a look of irritation and disgust she'd quickly clean up the mess with a towel.
"Consider all aspects of life as they come to you, every avenue that is avaliable to you as they present themselves. Think of where it could take you and where you'll be in the same frame of time that you spent on your current one. You'll look in a mirror one day and find yourself worn; but all the greater. My caution is warrented mind you."
Something that one of the angels way back when had said to her. She had kept that in mind when going to training and evnetually finding herself here. She had expected to take the path of the inn until her eventual digitization.
"We know where it ventures, just ask for the mushrooms that the gazimon was lookin for. We'll be able to find it from that and likely trace it from there. They always leave webbing behind for quick escapes from what I can remember."

Ah, yes, structure would be a problem way down here in the middle of nowhere. To that much, Dr. Mikemon gave a nod in agreement, ear twitching as that fresh mug of coffee was poured for the fox. Though to that point about a virus attribute, the cat rolled his eyes.
"Tell me about it... I'm even 'Data' and our impromptu patient was giving me quite the look about the sphere. Still, thanks for the warning, I'll try and keep a low-enough profile about it." It didn't seem like he was about to explain that sphere - his tone was enough to tell that he was trying to brush past it, anyway - instead moving past to focus on his quip on taking the Renamon on as an assistant. And K seemed keen enough to try and put it out in the worst light possible, to which he shrugged.
"If you want to think about it that way, sure, but only jobs truly worth my merit ever hit my desk. You'll see long-term patients with conditions I get to name... well, except during the vacation rushes, I guess. Gotta have everyone on-hand for those silly beach-goers..."
To that bit about undervaluing class, though, the Mikemon gave a chuckle. "See, its that kind of thinking is why I would like you under my wing. You actually give a damn... but, as much as I hate to say, there's a certain level your basic skills have to be at before you can really afford to have that thought. And as for cost... let's just say, the only cost you have to actually consider is the time you'd have to spend on it. That's real."
Yes, he was saying he would cover her training expenses. No, he was not being explicit about it. As he took another sip, his ears gave a sudden twitch, the cat looking down at the table to see the coffee run over. In a moment that was rather surreal, this tensed-up fox grabbed a towel, and started quoting some Empyrian thing that he'd heard a few times before. And he retorted, like he always had: "'But that greatest path is the one you carve for yourself, lest you look back onto that mirror and not recognize the person staring back.' But in any case, that's up to you... I hope to at least see you there to convince a doctor."
Was all that settled? The Mikemon hoped so, setting down his mug on the dry coaster. Now, they were back on the topic of the spider, and K had a good starting point: just figure out where those mushrooms grew. "Mm, I suppose that's the case. Then I'll just-" The Mikemon's expression, in an instant, went from a casual tone to a focused one, his ear twitching. It was clear that a light-bulb had just turned on in his head, an audible 'tch' escaping the cat's fangs.
"---ing hell." He swore, under his breath, giving his head a shake as he stood up. "Sorry, I'll be back. Um, the Gazimon... you know where he works? Employer, family, anything?"

"It took me a couple years for folks to trust me even and I'm 'data'. They only really trust vaccinese outright, which I feel is dangerous."
She was earnestly curious about the sphere, more wondering where he had gotten it than it's actual purpose. That sort of thing could be dangerous if in the wrong hands after all. But he seemed like the safe enough sort; which made things a little easier for her to admit she dind't mind that he possessed such an item. She'd scratch at her head and sigh softly; she hadn't meant to sound so negative about it but honestly that's what came to mind immediately.
"Hmm. I see. I suppose I presumed too much."
She'd frown just a little bit as he mentioned something about vacation rushes; she could only imagine how busy the hospitals and such got when tourists decided to do stupid things. She paused considerably as he explained out why he wanted her to work for him; as well as explaining on the requirement of education. Turning her hands so that the palms were facing upwards she'd shrug and shake her head.
"....You really want me to come that badly huh?"
She'd glance back at the counter she had spent many a year behind; serving all sorts of customers. She could barely remember them all but that was just part of life after all. You wouldn't remember every single face in the crowd. Not paying for training; dealing with all sorts of patients and even getting so far as nursing? But at the same time what else was she? A soldier; she'd eventually feel dull. She knew that; but what was it that she could possibly do to really avoid that eventuallity.
"I've carved one hell of a path trust me; I figured I'd end up digitizing in this inn many years from now. I'll be going to at least convince a doctor to try to set up here. But I don't really. Don't really know about the training.. then being under your wing and all that. I just don't know about getting back into that whole practice and trying to go deeper in. I feel like something else might be better suited for me in the long run..."
She'd sigh softly shaking her head slowly; depositing the towel neatly on the table after she had managed to clean up the coffee. She'd blink slowly as the Mikemon spoke; then cut himself off rather suddenly.
"He's a local; Works in the only store here run by his family. Bet he was trying to get the mushrooms to sell it to the apothacary so he could get his girl something. Why you think they have something to do with it?"

Honestly, he'd like to just keep talking to her about her options in Whitewater. Conflicted or not, it did seem like K was warming up to the idea - or at the very least, questioning her existence of 'staying in this down until she dies' - but the Mikemon's sudden revelation opened his eyes.
Things clicked together - between the fact that so many die to the same cause in this tiny village of twenty or less, that the Gazimon was out gathering the mushrooms, and that K could so casually guess that the Dokugumon would be near the mushrooms in the first place, the Mikemon knew something was up. At the very least, there was a nagging feeling at the back of his head that he wouldn't be able to let go.
This was something that he could solve only if he encountered the spider in the woods.
"Right, then the General Store and the Apothecary. And... at the very least, the Gazimon in your care's got nothing to do with it. Urge him to rest, though, he shouldn't be out on his feet anyway. You got me?" The underlying 'point' behind his words was clear enough, as he trotted away from the chair.
"Thanks for the coffee. I'll be around later."
And with that, and the bell dinging at the front door, he'd be out into this 'peaceful' town.

K could tell that the mikemon really wanted to have her go along to whitewater. It was somewhat heartwarming but at the same time it was very worrying considering they had just met and he was already able to tell so much about her. Given that they talked a little bit sure, but she wasn't expecting him to read into it that deeply.
She wasn't sure what exactly the mikemon seemed to realize; she could see some gears turning in his head but if he didn't want to share she wasn't going to really push. She'd blink slowly and found her brow furrowing as he spoke. Was there a dangerous aspect to the creature that she had just treated? Or perhaps not everything was that of which it seemed. Considering how careful he was being with his words either could be the case.
"Mhm. I'll make sure that he's well rested. And no problem; it's part of the inn's service after all~"
She'd move to stand and watch him go; musing to herself as she went to go check on the gazimon. Really that was pretty much all she could do at this point; there likely wasn't going to be other customers until much later in the day. So past her regular cleaning routine there wasn't much for her to do other than keep an eye on the Gazimon. At a couple points they tried to leave but the renamon firmly kept them there....

Well, Mikemon didn't come back for quite a few hours, in what would probably be a quiet morning for the inn. K would probably have her regulars for breakfast, and her ordinary scolding of the inn's staff, but nothing would seem quite off. At least, not for a few hours.
But, the tight-knit nature of this forest town wouldn't have it kept this way for long. If K were to take a look out the front window, she'd definitely notice a different air over this town, a new 'gossip' in the works as various Digimon huddled over their porches, and muttered to each-other about 'something'. The Mikemon, it seemed, had been spreading quite a stir around the town, and the story spread pretty fast:
"And he said that he'd handle the spider! Well..."
"I don't like the look in his eye."
"Ah, he's cute! Trying to play the little hero!"
"Oh, I heard he was harassing the poor Gazis! Well, he'll blow away soon enough..."
To note, these quotes weren't around the same time, nor were they everything that was said. But the cat had caused quite a stir, trying to figure this whole thing out... and eventually, he'd be satisfied. Once more, at around 2 in the afternoon, there would be a ringing bell at the front of the inn, and if K was there to see, she'd see the Mikemon step in. Behind, Starmon - another outsider who had moved into this town, eventually being known as 'sheriff' despite his lacking of any rank - looked curiously from across the street before walking on.
He had turned half this town inside-out, and he was here to ask K for a favor:
"I need you to come with me. We have a spider to catch."
'Catch'. Not delete. That one word held a careful tone in the Mikemon's voice.

It was easy for her to keep up with all the work that'd pop in and out of her inn. The few regulars that'd stop in for food and the others that just wanted talk. She was well aware of the tight knit nature of the town; occasionally from time to time checking outside of the window to see if the mikemon was coming back as of yet. Though all she ended up with was seeing some digimon gossiping among themselves.
There was the intial part that sounded right, the second one that didn't, the third one that simply made her shake her head and the last one made her actually rather angry. Harrasing? He likely was just asking them questions and he had even helped one of them! Honestly with just the arrival of one mon the whole damn town was a mess; couldn't they keep their lives straight?
She of course was in the front of the inn when mikemon eventually came back; a little surprised at his sudden appearance. She could see the starmon across the street, she knew of the individual and would know that he likely was just keeping an eye out on things being the impromtue sheriff. She'd raise a brow when he spoke to her, quickly and curtly.
"All right. Hopefully they decide to come quietly rather than putting up a fuss. I'd rather not be attatched to a bucket for most of tommorow."

Well, K was right on board for it, wasn't she? Seeing the Renamon respond so quickly from the other side of the counter, Dr. Mikemon gave a nod. A nod, and a quick warning:
"Don't expect it to be peaceful. Keep your eyes on my back, and I'll keep mine on yours." He sighed, turning to face the door. "Sorry about this. But you're the only one whose given me a straight face all day." That much was certain, as this town didn't warm up to outsiders very quickly!
But, soon enough, the two of them would be on their way, past the several silent or whispering eyes of the town. Mikemon had picked up a few supplies, at least: he had a small bag tied around his left arm, and a coil of rope over his right. Besides this, he hadn't armed himself further, even that mysterious red orb out of sight. For a while, the two would just be on the forest path, both likely keeping their ears open for any sort of movement in the woods. Still, there wasn't a sign of webbing around yet.
"... There?"
Nor would there be, it seemed! But the two had stumbled upon what was likely the last place the spider attacked. In this clearing, right at their feet, the ground had been torn up with mud, clawmarks, and heavy footprints tossed haphazardly around. And just past this 'carnage', he spotted the mushrooms, with almost-glowing white caps in the shade of the trees. They perked out of loamy soil, growing right of their roots. At the sight of them, the doctor gave a 'tsk'.
"Nocturne Whitecaps. Known for medical use and spices alike, they only grow where light doesn't reach in the depths of the forest. It takes a good sniffer to ever find them... and yet they're here, growing in the open." Rather than wondering why this was possible, he stood, shaking his head. "Because of that-"
His ear twitched, involuntarily: the sound, like a cord of thread being ripped from a spool, briefly filled the air. "Tch, damn it!" In that moment, several things seemed to happen at once: the Mikemon pushed off the ground and kicked to the right; purple thread fell onto the area in mass, and the doctor was suddenly swearing under his breath.
Practically without a sound, the Dokugumon had appeared, blocking the path right back to the village:
From its fangs dangled a dangerous, purple thread, one that the doctor had avoided being completely buried in. But still, the doctor's left arm fell limp, the purple, sparking thread sparking off its elbow. With another push with his legs, he'd stagger, gritting his fangs. "He stuns, then..."
On cue, the spider charged straight forth, aiming to barrel right into the Mikemon!

"I suppose I shouldn't. Wishful thinking on my part. Sounds fair, though I don't know how much Help I'll really be. It's my living to be welcoming and helpful, else I wouldn't have one."
She'd chuckle a little bit and come from the other side of the counter to follow after the mikemon. What else was she supposed to do? If this problem got bigger or if the digimon in question got stronger and tried to impose something the locale would be in trouble wouldn't it?
She didn't really care for the eyes or the whispers; she'd return most of them with a stern gaze of course. They needed to be a little more open about things, else this would constantly happen to them. She hadn't really the foggiest idea what to bring past herself so she simply just came along. None of the things in her inn would likely help, maybe she could of brought one of the chefs. But they were about cooking, not fighting... at least mosst of the time.
She'd follow the eyeline of the other to where the carnage was. She'd frown slightly and find herself scanning the trees. Where had the spider like digimon gone likely? It probably was in a different area completely or.. Well. It could very much well be around still. She found herself on guard and hesitant to move much further. Though at the tsk she looked to where the other had, the white caps bringing a frown to her lips.
"They also grow in caves I think. But yeah, it seems a bit odd they're here..."
She felt her frown deepen a bit and she was startled by the sudden movement from mikemon, but she was quick to asses why he had done so. The sound got to her a little later than he, but she still managed to locate where the threat had come from. Growling in irritation she'd hold out her hand to one side flexing the fingers for one moment before arcing the digits up, over and down to meet the Dokugumon's charge head on. Hopefully smashing into the offending digimon's head; if not she'd at least give Mikemon some time to recover. If she missed, the likely event of her smashing into the ground would be a plume of dirt along with neat hole in the ground...
"K-Slash!"

"Tch..."
Well, this was frustrating. Not only could Dr. Mikemon not move his left arm - the nerves just past the elbows simply felt like fire - but the thread's poison carried with it a great bit of damage. Clenching his teeth, he felt his pulsate between 'blazing hot' and 'ice cold', his joints clicking with slight movement. This must have been the same pattern: Dokugumon would entrap a rookie with the thread, then in the follow-up, deliver a fierce bite. If the Mikemon was alone, this jump-attack would have him sharing the same fate as the Gazimon, if not worse!
Fortunately, the Renamon who wasn't arbitrarily targeted by the spider was quick to retaliate, and boldly so! Mikemon's eyes widened as K dashed forward, right at the charging spider, the fox aiming to fight the charging monster head-on! "H-hey! Damn it, let me-" He started charging an orange ball of energy between his teeth, only to feel it immediately pop and sizzle out into hot air. It seemed that the feline had jumped the gun a moment too soon, leaving the fox to fend for herself.
And the Dokugumon would react rather predictably to what it perceived as an approaching morsel! K's aim would be more-or-less true: the spider was a feral Digimon, and didn't know the finer aspects of combat. That said, the yellow-furred fox quickly became the focus of its attack, all six of its green eyes locking on the fox. As K would ready her claw, the Dokugumon would lunge forward, fangs open and dripping with purple venom! At her current angle, the Renamon's claw would end up inside the spider's mouth, its side fangs moving to close against her sides in a fearsome vice... not to mention its normal fangs clacking shut, aiming to bite at her arm above the elbow!

What was she supposed to do? Her ally had been attacked, with some form of ranged projectile that likely would have some ill effects if not treated quickly. Why wouldn't she be bold in this situation? If anything being like that would yield better results. It'd want to close the distance anyways and she didn't have much of a range to fight from.
She flicked her ears back a bit when she heard the mikemon talk. Why was he talking in the middle of a fight? She hadn't a clue, many digimon were chatty but she found the easiest way of making them go smoothly were to keep the chatter to a minimum if not non existant.
K didn't like the fact that her arm was going to be all the way into this things throat. She snarled in irritation and just like she blinked of of existence. She used Displacement usually in her Inn to be quick to get to the door. But in fights it could help her avoid attacks she'd rather not have land. Though she didn't like using it too often as enemies were swift to learn. She didn't like the look of that purple venom and simply didn't want anything to do with it.
She'd re-appear just a little ways to the side of Mikemon, grumbling in irritation. She could feel the strain of having to do that move so quickly. The Dokugumon didn't talk so that simply meant it was feral. Meaning it likely didn't know better, or if it did that it just didn't care. What should she do next....
