Right, she expected the guards, but Koneka didn't expect this sort of guard! The Gatomon flashed her arm-band just as Genesis did, but it was to no avail: the guards were simply resilient. If it was just the one, it would have been easy to slip by, but like this, Koneka had to consider her options-
Lucky break! A Justimon managed to break up the crowd, and the two were able to slip through. It appears the MagnaAngemon was still on their side - and by that extension, at least some part of the Orb was too. She walked next to the Justimon, giving a nod to his instruction. She knew what she had to do.
And Genesis would know, soon enough. "Don't panic. The guard is an Alphamon; judging by the position of the weapon, right-handed. There will be a statue behind a pillar, behind the Alphamon's throne: your goal is to press the Digivice against the stone. Sprint and break to our left, and get there as fast as you can. If Alphamon responds, I'll draw him to myself. You should have about six or seven seconds before the Guardian can properly arm himself."
For the first time in a long while, Koneka's form glowed, the tail ring giving off a bright light. She took the appearance of an Angewomon, a golden bow held in her hand, as the three of them would make it to the door - a door that either she or the Justimon would creak open. Hopefully, this would go off without a hitch, but if something seemed off - that is, the guardian started to move aggressively - Koneka would send a snap-shot of two arrows: one towards the Alphamon's chest, and another to the center of the orb!

Genesis rolled her neck. She had dealt with this sort of pressure before, but more was at stake. She wanted to ask why she was pressing Viktor's digivice against the statue, but she knew Koneka didn't have time to answer. Instead, she only gave a nod, at least understanding what she had to do. The issue was the why. But if she knew anything it was that eventually, everything would add up.
She watched Koneka take the form of Angewomon and sighed, missing her ability to take higher forms. Something was off, however. Koneka was smart, she'd never take her ultimate form and take on an empowered Mega head on. To Genesis, this meant that doing what she was told to do would either stop him, change him, or kill him. Either way, she wasn't willing to find out what would happen if she hesitated.
The Justimon looked to them both, then nodded, opening the doors and stepped back. Genesis followed Koneka close behind. She immediately began moving to the pillars as instructed, moving with a purpose, but not rushing. She looked over at the supposed Guardian... something about him... something felt familiar. Genesis couldn't peg it.
As she moved closer, the Guardian turned toward her, only staring for now. But before long he raised his sword and threw it at her! Genesis cursed as she dived backwards, the blade inches from her face as she rose up and looked over at the Alphamon, who was now preoccupied with Koneka. Genesis leapt over the sword and started running to the pillars now!
_________________________________________________________________________________
Viktor mentally relaxed as he saw Genesis enter the room behind an Angewomon Koneka. He Genesis was well protected, but she looked healthy too. The same 'trust' he mentally projected before was tenfold now. Yet... he felt the Orb tense. He knew for a fact that the Orb could not hear thoughts, but simply feel emotion. It was a mirror to whomever entered the room. If any intentions were given to attack. Genesis didn't have them, she was trying to get to the statue. Koneka must have had a backup plan. The Guardian was one thing but intent to attack the Orb was like an open book for the being.
Suddenly he felt an urge, a 'buzz' in his head that began commanding him. He could not disobey. He turned to look at Genesis, only watching at this time. He knew this wasn't to watch her so much as it was to 'detect' where the intentions were coming from. He could feel the Orbs confusion and he very quickly raised his sword and threw it at Genesis, who was thankfully smart enough to roll away from the attack.
He suddenly felt a flurry of emotions. More commands. An arrow struck him in his armored chest, bouncing off with little effect but the other caught his armored palm that was aimed toward the Orb. Viktor cursed as he pulled the arrow from his hand and tossed it. Begging the Orb to stop. To not attack.
It didn't listen.
Viktor put on foot back and his arms together. A circle formed around him and he felt sort of a shocking from the ground as he pulled a blade of pure energy and held it firmly in his hand. The wound healed as it touched the energy, and the Alphamon turned to face his friend. It was as if he stood there, waiting for Koneka to speak. Perhaps the Orb was trying to feel her again, sense her previous emotion. Viktor held back as much as he could, giving his plea of emotions as the energy-blade in his hand popped with small shocks of electricity.
He heard Genesis behind him, "Koneka! I can't get behind the pillars! The Sword is blocking it!"
No! Come on, Koneka. Do something... make me recover that sword."[/b]
He knew the level gap, he knew the difference in strength here. But he knew Koneka, and he knew she was a lot smarter anything the Orb could make him do. He just hoped she'd play on that sooner rather than later.

Oh, why couldn't things just be simple? If that sword didn't get in the way, Genesis could have already reached the pillar! Still, the Angewomon did little more than give a 'tch' through her teeth, only betraying a slight sense of frustration of the task at hand. Like it or not, she needed to remain Alphamon's target, and keep the 'Guardian' distracted from what the fox was doing.
And above all else, Koneka needed Alphamon to pick up that sword. It was a hard sell, as the Alphamon already crafted a secondary weapon of energy in his hand - thankfully, that weapon just vanished! Now, she just needed to create a situation where it was favorable to use the weapon to block. Which meant, she had to use an attack that the Alphamon would know would be dangerous to take simply with the armor.
If Gen gets there, then... alright. This'll either get the Alphamon to move, or make him pick up the sword. Either way works! Koneka knew this was a risk, but at this stage, there simply was no choice. If this was drawn into a proper fight, she'd lose, so the Angewomon had to bet it all now! At once, her bow pulsed with a bright, white light, before vanishing, the holy energy building up in her palms. Placing them together, she aimed the blast right towards Alphamon, aiming for the armored Digimon's front:
"Heaven's Charm!"
A powerful blast - the most powerful Koneka could muster - pulsed straight forward, dead-center towards Alphamon's frame. If he took it, even at the level it was, the force would likely be enough to at least make the guardian lose footing. Alternatively, he could try and dodge, or strike at Koneka, or use the sword to block: in any case, Koneka figured, Genesis would have a chance to run through!

There!
Viktor wish he could have smiled at Koneka doing exactly what he hoped she do. He was forced to respond by simply side stepping toward Genesis, but not directly after her. He gave a small hop and pulled the sword from the wall, rotating it around and aiming for the most obvious threat.
Koneka would have little time to react to the assault, Viktor moved with surprisingly quick speed for his size, sword brought abroad and ready to end the Angewomon! If she didn't, the blow would easily be enough slice through any armor the ultimate level could possibly muster. Viktor bit his teeth as he swung, then followed up with an upward strike of his sword that arced back and slammed on the ground behind him. The attack didn't stop there; Viktor shifted his weight, moved a hand at the top of the hilt and the bottom, then spun with the same speed he used to rush her. The trail of the blade made a full circle as he hoped Koneka got out of the way.
Genesis cursed as she ran to the pillar and prepared the digivice. Whatever this did, it would have to work fast. The Alphamon looked like he was fast, strong, and very skilled. But nothing Koneka couldn't at least distract and dodge. She managed to slip past unseen and pulled the tarp off the statue fully. What she saw shocked her so much to the point that she fell backwards and landed firmly on her backside. This couldn't be real! Was this him? Was he frozen as a statue? Would this unfreeze him. The tactics didn't add up. Koneka was banking on this ending the Alphamon... maybe it would be enough to stop it? The energy output was incredible... it felt almost like.
She looked over to the Alphamon, shaking her head. Was Viktor... was he this Alphamon? It didn't make sense yet, she felt him the more she thought. It had to be.
She didn't have time to waste. She ran to the statue, nervously and frantically searching for the digivice. It wasn't in her glove. She searched, pulling her gloves off and slipping them back on. Nothing. She looked around. Low and behold... the digivice was on the other side of the room! She wasted no time rushing for it. But Alphamon took interest.
Viktor blocked attacks, returned with a flurry of sword swipes and kicks, rolling back. The Orb knew she wasn't a true threat, be it from her type or because of her intentions. Either way, Viktor wasn't told directly to kill. Only fight. Maybe it hoped she'd quit.
Suddenly another buzz. He turned his head to see Genesis running for the digivice, it began to throw the sword. But hesitated, this wasn't Viktor. The Orb knew now what was happening. At least with Genesis. It made him turn back to Koneka rushing again! But Viktor made he most from its hesitation. He brought the sword around and stopped, unknown where Koneka was and hoping it stopped just before her. The blade shook as he fought its control;
"K-Koneka. D-don't fight. The Orb thinks it's under attack."
Viktor kept the blade at bay as he was now fighting the Orb at full force. It wasn't used to this, he was told no being could fight the control. Yet here he was; fighting the Orb for control.
He quickly became exhausted, his breath laboring as he struggled to maintain the blade where it was;
"I... I can't hold it. W-wish I was stronger."
He stopped for a second, waiting to see what Koneka would do. An attack would spur a response for sure. But if she bowed... showed signs of submission. He could only hope the Orb would read that and relinquish the attack.
That was the keyword: Hope.
Genesis in the meanwhile quickly recovered the Digivice and began heading to the statue. She wanted to end this, wanted to finish the fight. But she had to be sure;
"Viktor!"
With her breath held and tears filling the corners of her slanted eyes. Genesis waited. She watched him move and then... ever so slightly, he turned and faced her. Genesis held the digivice out. Viktor only looked at her, then the statue.
She couldn't hold it. Tears streamed down her furry cheeks as she wanted to run over to the statue, slam the digivice on the stone and hug him. But... she remember what he did to her. How he abandoned her and left her for the wolves.
Now that she had the power, she was burdened with a question:
Did she really want him back if he was so willing to give up on her?

Well, Koneka was glad that her gamble paid off: Genesis was given a straight shot to the statue, Alphamon taking the weapon in hand! Immediately, the Angewomon stood at the ready, a quick golden glow overtaking her form. Even in dodging the Alphamon's first swing, it was clear that something was off: a Gatomon now stood close, gritting her teeth as she sidestepped that upward swing. Thankfully, her smaller frame made it child's-play to dodge the spin, the feline holding herself close to the ground on all fours.
Not only a cat, but a rookie cat... damn it! She hadn't gone that far in Ultimate before, but she had no room to complain right now. She couldn't really attack the Alphamon in proper, but she kept her intensity in her expression relatively high, not wanting to lose the armored Digimon's attention. Should it waver, a quick piece of debris would be flung right at the mega's helmet. And with her smaller frame, some cover, and Viktor's refusal to use other moves, Koneka managed to stay on her feet through the entire ordeal.
Eventually, though, Viktor finally froze in place. Koneka tensed up, expecting an attack. But what came, were those words. He wanted her to stop fighting? Viktor's request was desperate, but Koneka's gaze fell across the room. Genesis was right next to the statue - ugh, what was taking her so long? The Gatomon's attention immediately returned right in front of her, facing that much stronger Digimon.
"Tch. If you were that strong, we wouldn't give a damn." She grinned, almost chuckling, flashing her nails. "For the love of sovereign, Gen, have your moment later! I'm a damn cat over here!"

The sound of her own heartbeat was the only thing Genesis could hear. She watched as Koneka yelled and Viktor looked. It all seemed to love in slow motion. She thought about tossing the digivice to Koneka and leaving. She thought and smashing it. But... as she clung to it, she thought of all the good they had done. All the good times they had. She thought more, and the more she thought, the more things came back. The more they came back, the more she realized she did miss Viktor, but he'd have a lot to answer for. At least in her book.
Viktor eased up, his sword plunging back in the ground as the Digimon didn't reply to Koneka. It was as if he was standing in victory, knowing exactly what Genesis was doing.
Which, in that aspect, he was right. Genesis rushed to the statue and placed the Digivice onto the marble-like material. Suddenly, it and the Alphamon Viktor began to glow a brilliant red. Genesis could only watch through squinted eyes as Alphamon shrunk and formed into a human. But not just any human. It was Viktor! He coughed and wheezed as he fell before Koneka, breathing his first real breaths in a long time.
Genesis ran over, he was much skinnier than the last she saw him, his arms were not much bigger than hers and his ribs were more pronounced. In fact, it sort of looked like a skeleton was wrapped in skin with little muscle to support it. His ghostly blue eyes didn't help that matter.
His beard and hair were long and unkempt, it was almost impossible to recognize him. That is, until he spoke with that same, grizzled slight east-European accent;
"Let's... not do that again..."
He coughed again, his entire frame rocking as Genesis used the tarp as a sort of robe to give him some decency. He tried to thank her, but could barely talk as is. He slowly began to stand, but immediately fell down. He would turn down any help from either party, only shaking his head as he tried again and managed to stand up, unsupported.
His gaunt cheeks raised as he began hobbling out, "It is... good to... see you... two."
Genesis only smiled, not conveying her resentment to the comment. Why two? Why not just her? Koneka wasn't his partner. Koneka only brought her here. Why did he care so much?
She watched him turn his hobble into a walk. A feat that might even surprise Koneka, given how long his muscles went unused. For now, she'd play along. Because there was a whole new game to play;
The game of getting out unchallenged and unseen.

At once, it was over.
In one blinding flash of red, the Alphamon standing before the Gatomon vanished. What was once an indomitable figure that could have ended the rookie Gatomon in an instant, was now the decrepit face of a man that Genesis had so recently feared as lost. Genesis soon had Viktor practically in her arms, wrapping a tarp around her tamer.
As for Koneka, she gave a nod to Viktor, before taking a knee. She stared at the ground, balance kept with one arm as another grasped at her head, the Gatomon just trying to get her breath back. Flighty or not, she just had to stare down a mega and stall: her heart was still racing!
They couldn't stay here for long, though: Genesis would just have to hold her emotions for now. Slowly, Koneka got to her feet, and nodded to the Renamon: "Don't let him stumble around, pick him up for now." The Gatomon looked back to the door, and peered outside: the guard wasn't tight for now, but they didn't have time to linger. Towards the left, there looked to be a decent-enough window, one that they could open and slip out. "This way... we gotta hurry."
And once we get to the Blimpmon station, we'll be home-free... Vik won't have to deal with this dumb place ever again!
Koneka just hoped that was the case!

Genesis sighed, watching Viktor stumble around was a little strange, coming from a man who's character was never betrayed by weakness. But even he had to recover. Koneka instructed her to pick him up, and she nodded in agreement. They didn't have time for him to find his bearings. As humorous as it was to watch.
"Like a newborn Fox. Come on, old man."
She quickly scooped him up, surprised by how light he was, and began following Koneka. She found a modest window that looked like it was out of the way, almost unguarded. Genesis hoped that was the case. With renewed vigor, thanks to their rekindled partnership, Genesis easily hopped clean over and through window, then landed gracefully and looked to Koneka.
She clicked her tongue to Koneka then nodded to the part of the fence that was much shorter than the ones around it. It looked like it was built on a hill, or uneven ground. She quickly led the way and leapt over the fence.
"Come on, cat. Where's that agility?"
She gave a small chuckle as she turned around and almost gallivanting back to the Jewelry store with hopefully Koneka in tow! She didn't even wait when she entered the store, she called out as soon as she could:
"Ami! Valeria! I have great news!"
She pulled the tarp back and showed the much skinnier, much more bearded Viktor. Who raised his hand up to block the sudden assault of light;
"I hope you're finished, Val. We have to go."
She adjusted Viktor and turned to use her shoulder to push open the door, then started to the station. That is, if the group didn't stop them first. Viktor did need clothes and needed to eat.

Right, 'agility'. Even if the Renamon had Viktor in tow, Koneka had just stood against an Alphamon, desperately trying to stall him. That she was standing and not a cloud of red data was a blessing enough in itself, even if the Gatomon lagged a bit behind Genesis!
"Don't push it, Gen. Save your snark for when we're not caught..." Still, it was easy enough for the cat to vault herself over the fence landing somewhat roughly on the other side. Gen was already running back towards the market district, where Valeria had just gotten her golden pendant pack. And Genesis' news rang right out through the store: Viktor was back!
"V-Vik! I don't-"
"Save it, Ami!" The cat gave a nod: "And Gen, keep Viktor here, for Sovereign's sake." She looked to Ami, who seemed dumbfounded, until... "Oh, right!" And she pulled out her Digivice, pressing a button. Right before them, a blue portal opened up, easily able to take all five of them. "To Whitewater... should be good enough?"
"Gonna have to be." Valeria nodded, clambering up onto Ami's shoulder.
"C'mon, this way!" Once they were out of the Skies, the laws here would have no meaning: Viktor would simply be free! "We'll worry about making you more than skin-and-bones in a few."

Genesis gave smiled, the portals were definitely making things a lot easier. She held Viktor close and stepped through, following the others as the world vanished from the cozy little jewelry store to a street just off to the side, avoiding the hustle and bustle;
"I... well, well it's not Luminas, thankfully. I'm so happy to be out of that city." she kept Viktor in her arms as and turned to Ami;
"I think we should get him some clothes, then get food. He's a little weak to talk and-"
Viktor reached up, his thin arm reaching to grab her chest-fluff with wiry fingers;
"I'm... right... here. Put... me down." he spoke almost as if he was the one doing all the running. Genesis only sighed and gently pulled his hand away, then set it back on his chest. She spoke plainly;
"You're in no condition to even speak, pops. Save your independence for when you can actually walk."
Viktor sighed and leaned back, Genesis chuckling in victory. She frowned as she looked along one side of the street, then the other. Remembering she didn't truly understand Whitewater, only being here once for some items Viktor needed. She looked to Ami and her crew;
"Know any places that sell clothes for skeletons?"
Viktor clicked his tongue and tried to push down, but to no avail. His lightweight combined with his lack of strength only felt as if he adjusted himself within her arms. Viktor wasn't at all comfortable with it either, being the person that he was. But Genesis was persistent. She was much stronger than he and refused to let him try to walk. As much as he resented being shown like this, he did miss the lot of them. Though he'd never admit it outloud...
"How... lon-"
"Save your strength, pops. Save your questions over food. I'm sure you're literally starving."
Viktor only crossed his arms and harrumphed as Genesis looked to Ami and the group, waiting for them to point them in the direction of the nearest clothes shop.

Well, that was a jarring tone shift! Out of the white-stone streets of Luminas, they were back to nice industrial gray, the scent of an ocean just out of sight greeting their faces. And as Koneka stretched her arms, she sighed.
"We're... not getting paid for that one, I think."
"Oh, enough of that!" Ami gave a smirk, looking right over in Viktor and Genesis' direction. "We have those two back - what happened, anyway? And why is he like that?" There was just so many questions to ask! Questions, that Valeria just waved off!
"Worry about that later! Viktor needs to bulk up, and we have to get back to Terminus anyway! Surely we'll have to get some sort of report on this..."
"Which will mostly fall on me." Koneka shrugged, her ear twitching at Gen's question. A clothing store? "Check beach-side, there's a bunch of market stuff down there. Really, though, you're going to want to check into the medical station sooner rather than later. Viktor might look grave, but its nothing that we haven't seen before... like being damaged by 'decay', really."
"Well, if it'll be okay..." Ami sighed, and stepped forward, bringing one arm around Gen's back for a brief hug, by her side. "Stay in touch this time, okay?"

With a smile and a nod (and Viktor still being carried) she returned the hug as best she could. She would follow their advice, as sound as it was, but she wished she shared Viktor's resolve on such things. When she was injured and he had to carry her, he didn't need to rely on anyone. But right now, the two were vulnerable. Moreso then she liked and no doubt more than Viktor would have ventured ever in his life. But they had a eachother now, and that was enough. Genesis watched them walk away as she sighed and did an about-face, walking against the burning sun that sunk below the horizon.
As she walked, Viktor was sound asleep. His newly restored body trying to heal itself from years of being in 'standby' from what she guessed. Why else would he be so depraved from being a mega? Maybe it was the data used. Perhaps she'd never know, but she wondered, truly if she ever would really care to know. It was a strange business that punishment, and she'd hope it didn't have any long term effects.
She found human clothes in the store Koneka suggested, literally had to dress Viktor due to him being so weak, despite him pushing her away and trying to do it himself. Tough old man she thought as she watched him put the shoes on. Immediately after she went to the nearest restaurant and bought as much food as she could afford for the two. She knew in the human world that eating so much after being malnourished was a death sentence. But the digital world operated differently. Viktor would fill in within a day or so. Viktor was already looking healthier after the first bite, and soon, he was on his feet walking like he'd never been stuck as a mega for five years.
But there was this nagging feeling she couldn't get over, something that ate away at her very core. Something was wrong, but she couldn't name what. Not yet anyway. Viktor changed. She changed, and the more she thought about it, the more she wondered why he gave up so easily.
After the hours of silence, Viktor finally spoke, already looking more healthy after eating the meals provided;
"I missed you, little one." he spoke from across the table, and Genesis could only smile and wipe the corner of her eyes. She wanted to yell at him, call him a traitor and blame that cat for this disconnect that she could feel between them. But right now, in this little shop in the middle of an unknown city, it didn't matter. She had the one person who she mourned for the last five years.
"You could have called, you know. I was on waiting forever."
Viktor only smiled and looked to the door' "Let's go."
She sighed, "Pops, you gotta get to the med center. You look better, but you're not fully back to yourself."
Viktor simply stood up and headed for the door, Genesis putting her arms out to the side and shaking her head in defeat. The man was consistent, if anything. But he was on a fast track to killing himself;
"I'm serious, pops. We need to go."
Viktor continued to the door, pushing it open; "I'll be fine. We have much to do."
She gave another exasperated sigh, knowing there was no convincing him; "Just promise me if you start feeling ill you'll go."
He stopped, holding the door for her;
"Alright, alright, little one. I promise."
With a victorious nod, Genesis shot up and opened the door Viktor wasn't holding, mostly to tease him. He gave a half-chuckle and the two headed onto the street. Viktor had a lot to catch up on, a lot of self-growing to do and the training to the promise of something greater. The Orb showed him one thing;
It was time get stronger.
