When the human with a Renamon decided to step back, the Baromon sighed, obvious relief showing in his features. The fewer beings were interested in these events, the less likely the seals in the mountain would be broken by the carelessness of an outsider. A small victory, but not one he'd celebrate for long. There was still plenty of beings that had their curiosity piqued due to the events that were unfolding, and still much work to be done.
"Strengthening the seals is an ancient ritual that cannot be performed in a situation like this. The teachings of my people instruct me to wait until the tremors are done, then assess the damage dealt to the seal in order to empower the areas where it had been weakened the most. Doing so amid these tremors would incur a risk of shattering the seal itself."
Saying that he didn't want that to happen was an obvious enough that he needed to mention that bit. He hated being a sitting duck that had to deal with an overly curious crowd until they decided to leave the work to the professionals, but there wasn't much he could do about it.
In the end, there wasn't anything he could do if the group wanted to venture inside. "Wait." The Chuumon had ventured inside? Where was he? He must've missed him. "Oh, dear. The mountain has been breached..."
Digimon's face was drained of all color as soon as that fact became evident. Not much he could do about it, just hope for the best... While inside the mountain, Bellamy would see a narrow corridor, just wide enough for somebody more or less with the size of Colin to fit in somewhat comfortably. The whole place progressively got darker, due to the absence of illumination.
Yet, some distance ahead of him, he could clearly hear the eager footsteps of a small, greedy being. He knew he was on the right track, at least if tracking down the Chuumon was his intent.

She'd snort a bit and rub her neck before shaking her head, what was this Baromon thinking? She couldn't really tell. But she did know one thing, if that Chuumon did something stupid there would be hell to pay. She'd let out a small sigh and move forward almost to the entrance to the mountain.
"I'm going in, but I"m not going to damage anything Rather not have the whole mountain come down on me."
She'd pause as the human spoke, she had to admit for someone that seemed younger they seemed firmly in the right mindset to fix problems and what not. She almost wished she knew more things about seals and what not. But that wasn't her cup of tea. The impmon ran in and she felt herself sigh, she really hoped they didn't do anything rash. Then the Elecmon spoke up to the Baromon; they all seemed to be one of mind which was somewhat surprising.
"Baromon, I know you said you can't stop us if we want to go in, and I very much do desire it. But among everything, what type of seal is this? Mystical? Physical? A mix of both?"
Regardless of whatever answer she was given the renamon was quite literally going to go in after she was told. But it was quite clear that she meant the best with both the questions and her physical presence in the mountain. She'd likely enter in after the human and the two digimon however...

In the moments before the Chuumon broke for it, the Baromon explained that strengthening the seals could only done once the earthquakes abated. Colin sighed and supposed that was reasonable. If an earthquake interrupted one of the unknown rituals while it was underway, that could indeed lead to disaster. Even if he had only been in the digital world for a year, he knew that things worked differently here than they did on Earth.
But afterward, Bellamy quickly noticed how his surroundings got dark. But thankfully even as an Impmon he had ways of dealing with this. He raised his paw and conjured a fireball, using it to illuminate the way ahead. The fire was dimmer than ordinary flame, being conjured from a Nightmare Soldier digimon, but, it did the trick. It allowed him to see the path ahead, and he saw that it was very narrow. In fact, too narrow for evolving beyond Champion within these caves.
Colin and Luke followed after Bellamy. They couldn't afford not to, obviously. After all, he was Colin's partner and Luke's twin brother, if something happened to him, they'd both be sorry. They could see the light from Bellamy's flame as he ran in the path ahead, and thus tried to keep up.
Bellamy meanwhile listened for other footsteps. He tried to ignore those behind him, assuming the heavy steps of leather on stone was Colin's boots and the sound of claws on rock was Luke's feet. He kept up the pace, hoping he'd soon catch up with the Chuumon and drag him back out.

A long sigh escaped Baromon's lips. This had been exactly what he had been trying to avoid, and he had failed at it. Entering the mountain in its current form wasn't an option for him. He didn't trust these beings in the slightest but... at this point he had no choice.
"The seal is a complex spell, and has both physical and mystical components to it, even if it's majorly mystical. Do what you must, little one; I sincerely hope fate has chosen you as its champion for this endeavor."
K probably wouldn't hear half of it before venturing inside the mountain, finding the exact same image Bellamy had found before; a narrow, dark hallway that seemed to extend itself for a good distance. The flame conjured by Bellamy did a good job at sweeping the darkness away, revealing solid, yet simple stone walls around him; they were plain, and frankly didn't do a good job at warning him about the dangers ahead.
The path extended itself for roughly twenty meters, and ended up in a chamber of sorts. In comparison to the narrow passage, the room was easily five times as wide, even if the ceiling wasn't all that high. From the vantage point where Bellamy currently was, three different pathways could be seen ahead.
However, there was also some interesting facts he (or anybody entering) would notice. Namely, the unmistakable sound of water dropping from a collection of small stalactites above, along with the ground under their feet being... particularly slippery. If he concentrated, the Impmon would hear Chuumon's footsteps faintly through the path in the center, but they were getting away quickly...

Well they were quick to go in weren't they? Though it seemed like the three of them were a team she didn't exactly put it all together considering sh edidn't know that groups particular history. She'd shrug slightly; figuring they were allies of sorts.
She heard the first part of Baromon rather easily; the second part made her hesitate on the inside. Her hearing was decent enough to where she could make it out, consider what he was saying and then move on.
When greeted to the same imagery she didn't pause to summon up her Fox Fire While there was nothing to throw them at they at least provided the required light to go forward. She had to move quickly to catch up to the human and his partners... as well as the chuumon. She made sure to keep her pace at a trot; so not to slip on anything that might be there.
"What to do..."
K looked about as she went forward. She wanted to make sure that she would remember the way out if there was problems with getting out. Which was absolutely possible all considering...

Bellamy saw the path ahead thanks to the fireball in his paw. Indirectly, the light assisted Colin and Luke, although their view wasn't as well lit, so they bumped against the wall in a few places. Colin had to duck to prevent his head being struck on the rocks above, while Luke was running on all fours so he could keep better control.
Colin meanwhile was sending a quick message to his friends before he'd undoubtedly lose communication abilities outside the mountain. He told them that he was in Terabyte Mountain and dealing with a likely problem, if they don't hear from him again soon, could they please come and help.
"Bellamy! Wait up!" Colin called ahead. The Impmon thus halted in the chamber, seeing where the three paths led. He could hear the Chuumon's footsteps in the second one, so he was glad he had ran this way. But... something seemed odd. He could feel water dripping on him from above. This was unusual. This was the frozen North, there shouldn't be running water when it was this cold. Was this a result of the seal on the unknown monster? The heat melting the ice? His feet felt it hard to gain friction on the rocks below as well, probably this made him halt and reconsider his options.
When Bellamy stopped, his partner and brother soon caught up. As did the Renamon from before. "Oh, hiya" Bellamy said to her. Colin and Luke turned to see her as well. "Sorry, I'd make a proper introduction, but that Chuumon's gettin' away" he said.
"I'm Colin and these are my partners, Luke and Bellamy" Colin quickly said to her, then looked back at his partner. "Did you see which way he went?"
"Center one" Bellamy said, pointing with his fireball-free hand. "We should probably slow down a bit, floor's slippery, we don't wanna crash into any obstacles..." he scowled at the path. "Hopefully that Chuumon'll slip into somethin' that'll stop him"
"But not kill him obviously" Luke said, reminding him that they didn't really wish death on the mouse digimon. Bellamy shrugged.
"Either way, I don't wanna wait around here while he goes and awakens an ancient unstoppable evil". Bellamy looked at his partner. "So, can we go after him?"
"I think we'd better" Colin agreed. He looked at the Renamon. "Sorry if this is a personal question, but, could you tell us the highest you can evolve? My partners can go Super Mega if need be, but we don't want to risk it unless we need to".

After the introductions were made, the chamber felt in relative in relative silence. The only sounds that could be heard were the slow dripping of the stalactites and... the Chuumon's footsteps that seemed to reduce in volume as they got away slowly.
Well, at least until a relatively loud crashing was heard, quickly followed by a swishing sound. Apparently, he had slipped?
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!!" Yeah, he definitely had slipped. What was noteworthy about the scream is that it became fainter and fainter, giving out that the mouse was moving as he yelled.
At least until the sound died off; talk about long slopes. If no action was taken a couple of minutes after this, a faint rumble would shake the ground below them slightly, just as a small, green glow became evident by the rightmost entrance as. It looked pretty much like a dim torchlight, but... green. The rest of the passages were unresponsive.

And now came the fun part for K. She had to keep using Fox-Fire for the light it provided and she had to admit just holding them there was somewhat draining. As constant use of her energy didn't really bode well for her; She'd likely end up tiring herself out if she did this too much without rest.
She eventually caught up to the trio, surprised if anything that they were going so slowly. But maybe she was the one that was just going quickly? Either way she didn't have time to chit chat with them. So while she was short, she was still friendly about it.
"Hello."
She'd glance at the human and give a small half bow, her eyes scanning the area that they were in. There was no reason for her to be impolite after all.
"A pleasure, I'm K."
The three of them continued to speak and she continued to look about, uncertain about which way she should go. Perhaps the way the chuumon was going was the long way around? Then there came the question of how high she could digivolve.
She'd hesitate and feel a little sheepish before glancing at the human, a small but someone hesitant smile spreading on her lips.
"Unfortunately I am at the highest tier I can attain. While I cannot digivolve, I've got a few more tricks up my sleeves so to speak."
She'd cast about and then freeze as she could hear the chuumon's footsteps. Then there was that loud crash, followed by a swishing sound. Then there was the scream. Followed by it becoming fainter and fainter.... She'd glance at the other two.
"....That was not the way to go..."
She didn't want to think about what had likely just happened, but then there was that small green glow that became evident. The other passages looked to be unresponsive.
"...Perhaps that is the correct path?"

So this Renamon, K... or was it spelled Kay? It didn't matter either way. It seemed she could only evolve to Rookie. Hopefully her tricks could come in useful though. Before they moved on, they gasped as they heard a crash then the Chuumon's scream, then, silence.
"Oh my god..." Luke gasped.
"That idiot!" Bellamy spat. He had been going too fast. But, what could they do now?
"I think we should at least check up on him" Luke said, looking determined. Bellamy sighed, looking pained. The Chuumon came in here knowing all the risks and still did something stupid. But he was also the reason they had entered these caves in the first place.
"He could still be alive, right?" Luke asked the others. "I mean... Colin, you could just evolve me to Fulminomon and I could fly down wherever he is and check. It sounds like he fell. If I see him, or an egg, or just a cloud of data, then, we'll know what happened for sure in the end. And if he's still alive, well, we can get him out of here before he causes any more trouble".
"I guess you have a point there, Aniki" Bellamy said, then glanced at K. "We are technically trespassin', so, maybe check if the little squirt's really kicked it before we go any deeper?"
Colin could see the logic of it. If they went straight ahead without checking on the Chuumon, it'd weigh in on their consciences later. And so he drew the card and slashed his D-Arc, and Luke evolved with light.
"Elecmon... Warp-Digivolve to...!"
Luke grew double in height, becoming slightly taller than Colin. His torso, waist, forearms and lower legs became clad with blue digizoid armor, and jet fire glowed from his back as he hovered in flight.
"Fulminomon!"
"Remember, Luke" Colin warned his partner. "Any obstacle, any danger, you come right back, okay? We just want to check, if it's a hopeless situation, we can't save him".
"Alright, Colin, understood" the Mega level said, accepting his partner's orders. For the moment, Luke carefully flew into the centre path, using a very weakened form of Flash Thunder to light his way. He took care to hover in the middle of the path, and he gradually headed toward the spot where the Chuumon might be.
While they were waiting, Bellamy turned apologetically to K. "My big brother's crest is Compassion so he's gotta do this" he explained. He kept an eye on the faint green glow from the other passage though. After Luke came back, he wondered what they should do. Return to Baromon and tell him what happened? Or continue further? Well, the Impmon's crest was Tenacity, so, he knew what option he'd pick. But Colin called the shots after all.

Luke would find a tunnel going ahead of him. It went on and on before abruptly ending in another tunnel heading directly downwards. If the Fulminomon descended, he'd find himself going through what looked like a freefall that went down and down. One thing would become somewhat obvious the more he descended, however. The walls of the tunnel would begin to look as if enveloped by some kind of transparent ooze or goo, thickening the more he went down.
Eventually, he'd reach what seemed like a... dead end? Solid stone at the bottom of the tunnel, and despite being covered by a thick layer of the ooze/goo, it seemed solid enough that the chances of it moving for some reason were unlikely. What'd be more surprising, however, is that there wasn't any clue of the Chuumon's whereabouts. It was almost as if the earth had swallowed him.
Back in the main room, the glow of the rightmost entrance persisted, as if beckoning the trio currently standing there. Maybe this was... a puzzle of some sort?

As expected, the tunnel suddenly dropped downward. He carefully lowered himself down. "Chuumon?! Are you there?" he called, but there was no answer. He noticed the walls seemed to be... melting somehow. This was bad. He stopped lowering himself and instead sent a weak form of his electric attack downward - only strong enough to light up the way ahead, if it actually struck Chuumon it would simply feel like a jolt of static electricity. Eventually, there seemed to be something at the bottom. A thick layer of goo, but no sign of Chuumon. Luke sighed, it seemed clear that the Chuumon had fallen into it and drowned. It seemed too dangerous to go further.
"Damn it" he sighed, then flew back upward and out of the hole, realizing his standing orders were not to attempt a rescue. He returned to the group.
Bellamy meanwhile noticed the glow of the right most entrance. He was made curious by it, but remembered they had to wait for his brother. Before long, Luke returned.
"No good" Luke said, looking downheartened. "There was a hole at the end, and I went as far as I could but... the walls and eventually some kind of floor turned to some kind of goo, and I couldn't find Chuumon anywhere".
"Ugh, the stupid idiot!" Bellamy snapped in frustration. Well, the Chuumon was probably dead now. Not what he deserved, but, what should they do now? That seemed to be the question.
"Should we... go back to Baromon now?" Luke asked, unsurely. "We probably shouldn't be here..."
"Well, we're here now, and that light is botherin' me" Bellamy countered. Colin was bothered by it too.
"We should probably check it out before we head out" the boy agreed. He turned to K. "What do you think?" he asked her.
"If we go further, I'd better stay at the front" Luke said, hovering slightly above the cave floor. "I don't want any of you to fall into any traps like that".

The scream, that was quickly followed by silence made K frown. What was she to do about such an individual that was hellbent on getting some treasure? She felt a little unsure what she was supposed to do. She couldn't fly so if he had fell somewhere further than fifteen or so feet she couldn't reach them. The others seemed to be a little surprised at this, she had to admit she felt the same way.
"Checking on them would be a good thing yeah... Since we did come here to stop them."
She wasn't expecting the Elecmon to digivolve in front of her; she'd take a step back in surprise. It was rare to see a mega digimon up close and personal without actually fighting it, it being in the distance or.. Well. Being it she supposed. The last of which she doubted she'd ever see.
"It makes sense regardless, I simply wasn't expecting him to actually become a mega level digivolution. I know that it was said you could go super mega but... Seeing is different than believing."
She'd wait to see what would happen afterwards, eyes flicking over to the glowing entrance. Was that the way that they were supposed to go? Or was it just another trap? She wasn't sure if she wanted to risk it honestly.
The mega returned after a little bit and she frowned when they explained about what had happened to the Chuumon. She'd look down at her hands and clench them in frustration.
"He was foolish, should of had a light or something. If he had progressed carefully he wouldn't of fallen."
K scratched the side of her muzzle frowning a little when Luke asked if they should go back. Should they really? She doubted something about this mountain and she had to admit she was downright curious.
"I want to go deeper into this mountain and find the source of these tremors. If the rumors about an artifact are true as well we could lie about not finding it to dissuade any to enter again or confirm it to the Baromon to the side and let him do with the information as it sees fit. It's possible we can also assess the damage to the mountain from within if we're careful enough."
She'd suggest and glance at luke; looking a bit nervous still.
"A good idea, I don't have any flying abilities myself... And I don't think humans can fly on their own."

The room itself was dimly lit, not much else to be seen on them besides a long-ish shelf taking most of the back wall. Other walls were plain, polished stone that just extended itself, forming a dome that covered the room.
Now, to the shelf itself. The crude wooden construction seemed to have its fair bit of wear, probably due to the time and humidity of the environment. It was mostly empty, and showed obvious signs of being robbed in the past, but still, one row was still occupied by seven or so tomes.
The first one had a red cover, while the following ones were green. Sides the coloration, they seemed to be pretty much nondescript, at least when observed in their resting places.
Meanwhile, the green light would still permeate the environment, but somewhat less brightly than before. Did it calm down? It certainly looked like that.

Bellamy noticed that K seemed a little startled by Luke digivolving so suddenly like that. If the situation wasn't so serious, he would have said something like "Yeesh, Luke, don't ya know it's rude to suddenly whip out your mega level in front of a lady like that?" but refrained from doing so in this situation, it wasn't appropriate.
When Luke returned and they were discussing whether or not to continue, K seemed to agree that it would be best to press forward. "Alright..." Luke said, hesitantly. "But, if we see something we can't handle, we go straight back. Agreed?"
"Alright" Bellamy and Colin answered, realizing it would be for the best.
They ventured through the cavern, but, thankfully did not encounter any further traps. And they soon found themselves within a room. One wall had a long shelf traversing it, while the other walls were circular, making the room appear like a dome. Their attention was drawn to the worn shelf, where there were seven books.
"This is strange..." Colin remarked. He approached the shelf.
"Careful not to touch them, Col" Luke warned. Colin nodded. The boy only intended to take a closer look at the books and see what their titles were. Luke and Bellamy stood at his side, ready to defend their partner from any traps.

"Agreed."
The room looked what you would expect some temple to have, or at least something you would see in older locales. It was somewhat surprising to say the least but K found herself staring at the only shelf with the books. There was seven or so of them and most of them were green. Only one was red and K found her attention more drawn to that than anything else.
The renamon would glance at the trio before carefully look around the room. Eventually ending up by the books; there was the green light that was somewhat odd; but the renamon felt that the books here had some matter of importance or.. Well.
Perhaps the tomes were a trap? She didn't know, she didn't want to know if they were. She peered more specifically at the red one a small frown working on her lips.
"It's strange that there is only one red book. I cannot help but wonder why that is. I also cannot help but feel as though this is a trap."
She'd frown deeply and stroke her muzzle thoughtfully; staring at the books for a long. Long time.
"I feel like we need these though, is that odd?"
