As the group peered closer, the lightning in the room began to become dimmer, as if the green glow was somehow related to them.
Or not. Who knows.
What mattered is that upon closer inspection, one conclusion could be drawn instantly; the first book, the red one, had even more differences compared to the rest. For one, it had signs of being visibly worn, way more than the others. The corners were bumped, and some signs of the spine being slightly split could be appreciated, all while the green ones just seemed be worn due to the humid conditions and the natural repercussions shelving had on them.
Besides those observations, not much else out of the ordinary could be seen at plain sight, at least in the confines of the small, domed room. As strange as the fact was, this bookshelf in the middle of a cave seemed to be… just a bookshelf?

The green light dimmed again somewhat. Bellamy made a perplexed face, raising his other arm in the air to keep a small ball of flame ignited so that they could still see. K then mentioned the fact that there was obviously something about these books that was of importance, but warned about traps.
"We should check the shelf for traps" Luke said, quickly. "If it's just a bookshelf, we should be fine, but, if it's rigged up to a trap if the books are moved, well..." he thought of the Chuumon again and shuddered.
Colin meanwhile was paying attention to the differences between the books. "The red one looks like it's been through a lot, maybe we could take a look at it first?" he remarked. "But, well, Luke, maybe you could keep an eye out for traps? You might be the best to handle that"
Luke nodded, he was the best of the three to deal with technology. Colin and Bellamy stood back while the Fulminomon examined the shelf. If it was clear, then he would give the all clear to inspect one of the books to see what was inside.

"Hopefully it's not trapped, but it doesn't hurt to be careful considering what happened earlier.."
K eyed the books carefully still, even with the other inspecting them she didn't want to get anywhere near them. If it was okay-ed she'd go and take a look at one of them. Particularly the red one.
"Most used means it likely has been moved the most, so hopefully it's just.. Exactly what it appears. Lets look at that one first."
She'd have to agree, after all they all seemed to be focusing on the same point. Which both made the digimon happy to have someone on the same page as her.. But that also meant there wasn't someone thinking of what the others may have. Perhaps they should look at all the books after inspecting the red one?
"Once we've taken a look at that one, lets see what the green ones have in store."

After quickly checking the shelves and discovering that there weren't any hidden traps in there. At least by there; as soon as the red book was touched, a vague, yet easily hearable sound could be listened by the direction of the tunnel where Luke had descended moments ago. Felt as if something was... moving? Or if something ground against a solid object.
Would that prompt an additional reaction or not? If it didn't and K ended up picking the red book and opening it, she'd find various annotations written on it, even if the language was a bit... off. Definitely not something to read casually, and most probably a tome that had to be studied thoroughly in order to discern its secrets.
A couple of seconds after the sound stopped, the chamber's glow ceased completely; Bellamy's fire could do a good job at replacing it, but just like it's predecessor, it would only provide limited vision.
What would they do next?

Colin and the twins supposed they agreed with K's logic. "Yeah, so the information in the red book is probably most important" Luke surmised. "However, it's also probably the most delicate, so we should be very careful with how we use it".
"I can turn the pages if ya like, I'm wearin' gloves" Bellamy offered.
"Bellamy, you wear them all the time, that kinda defeats the purpose of them being sterile" Luke pointed out. "Either way, I doubt it'd make much difference, but Colin should probably turn the pages, you know, human fingers seem to be more superior than claws".
"Alright" Colin agreed. So, as the book was touched after checking it for traps, they jumped as they heard a noise from the chamber behind them.
"That did not sound good" Bellamy remarked, getting a little nervous, then coughed and pretended it was nothing. "Or it could just be a coincidence" he continued. "I mean, touchin' a book won't set off that much of a reaction would it?"
"Maybe, but we should take a lot of care if it happens again" Luke said. He noticed that the chamber was now completely black other than Bellamy's fire. Another curious phenomenon. But hopefully now the books would give them a little information.
As the book was read, Colin and Luke frowned. Very little information could be discerned from it.
"Hmm. This might probably take a while" Bellamy muttered, disinclined to do work like this. "Well, we probably need Baromon's help with this book, so, maybe we should check the others? Just to make sure we know what we got down here?"
"Alright..." Luke said. "I'll do that then".
Luke would then reach out for the first of the green books. He would immediately let go if it triggered a reaction like the one with the red book. But if not, he would carefully open it and read it.

"This stuff looks like it needs to be poured over, not something that would be immediately useful. But baromon might want it. It might have meaning to him, at the very worst he requests we put it back. It also might have some answers for later... but.. who knows? I could read it as we go, seeing as I have my own fire to provide light."
She'd look the book over, frowning slightly. She'd glance at the bother books and shake her head.
"In any case, these books MUST have some importance to things here. Or some kind of relevance."
She'd gently tap the book in question and sigh. What were they to do? They could be taking too much time on these items in question but it never hurt to be safe. She'd watch the others carefully as Luke reached out towards the first of the green books.
"I do say we should be quick about this, we don't want to spend too much time pouring over the information here. Would taking all the books be a good or bad idea?"

Empty. Strangely enough, the book Luke took and opened was completely devoid of any kind of content, or even from a reaction from the room; well, it somewhat made an odd amount of sense given it was less worn that the previously-picked book, but... why they were there if they just were empty? A question with no readily-available answer at the moment, or at least that's what it seemed.
However, some seconds afterward, a faint rumble was heard —once again— coming from the pitfall where Luke had been moments before. This time, the sound wasn't nearly as strong, even if it certainly was more... persistent, continuing to resound and seemingly not being all that willing to stop even after several minutes.
Other than that, the current situation where K, Colin and the twins stood was more or less that it had been some moments before, even if now it had some background sound.

Luke stared at the pages of the green book in front of him. They were all blank. His blue eyes frowned, what was the meaning of this? Was all there was to this room a shelf full of gibberish and the red book?
"Hmm..." he mused. "Well, since the green books seem to be useless, what can we do from here?"
Then his thoughts were interrupted by a rumbling noise from the central chamber. The three of them were fairly worried. They listened to K's suggestion, and that inspired some kind of logical sequence from there.
"Well... ordinarily I'd suggest we take the red book and bring it up to Baromon, but... moving the books seems to make some kind of reaction happen" Colin said. "And moving all of the books, well, from the reactions so far, I don't really want to risk it..."
"So maybe we could get the old geezer down here?" Bellamy then suggested.
"I doubt he'd do so willingly" Colin replied, although that was a probable option. But he didn't like the idea of forcing Baromon down into these chambers. But, maybe that would be the case? They were super mega levels after all, and the earthquakes from this mountain were threatening the region. Even if Baromon didn't want to come down here, Luke could pretty easily carry him down here and force him to deal with things. But, then again, that could compromise their ability to deal with him cooperatively, which would sabotage things.
"What do you think, K?" Colin asked the other digimon here, hoping for some guidance.

K would scratch her head and stare down at the red book; it was hard to understand that much could be said. She'd flick her ears and glance towards the way they came; certainly being able to tell that there had been a faint rumble back towards where they had come from. Of what that rumble was.. it only happened when one of the green books were taken. She'd tut softly and shake her head, carefully shutting the red book before gently motioning for Colin to put the green one back.
"He said he would only come once the quakes would stop remember? As far as the green books go, it seems that taking one of them caused that rumbling so maybe putting the green one back will stop it. The red book didn't give any sort of reaction what-so-ever so it HAS to be important."
She'd gaze down towards where they would have to go next, a frown coming onto her lips.
"I think we need to keep moving forward, and see how things are. We have to be very careful of course as we go, we wouldn't want to end up like the fellow from earlier after all."
She'd motion to the book that she was currently holding.
"And as we're going deeper, gonna see if I can make heads or tails of this..."

K had a point there, it seemed that getting Baromon down here would only cause trouble. Still though, moving the green book had caused a reaction, as K had deduced, so Luke put it back. However, it seemed that it was the gibberish of the red book that may be their biggest clue yet.
"Hmm, you're right there. If we take the red one, it might be able to make sense to us in time" Luke said. "It might be in an ancient language or a code, and we might need something like a cypher to work it out".
"Eh, yeah, let's do that" Bellamy said, deciding to let his brother make the deductions. "So then, where too now? Ain't lookin' like there's much more to do in this room..."
"Yeah. Let's go back to the junction" Colin said, and Luke led the way once more, keeping an eye out for traps. If all went well, they would arrive back in the central room, the way lit by Bellamy's fire.

K shrugged a little bit and ran a hand through her fur after a few moments. Perhaps they would find another book that would give them more material to work with? if it was a cypher would they be able to work with it when the time came? They were small rather frivolous worries but she had to admit that they just wouldn't go away.
"if that's the case, then it'd behoove us not to have the book damaged or lost in here. For future use after we figure all this out no?"
She'd pat the book and follow after the trio, glancing back a couple times as they made their way to the central room. Were they making the right choice going back? Was there more to be had in this room? More questions she probably wouldn't need the answer to.
So instead? She made a light of her own and started to pour over the book; hoping to gleam something from it. Sure it was hard to read, but it was information and she was a digimon. So it should go hand in hand!
Once they got back to the central room she'd glance around again, wondering what that rumbling had been from.
"So we still have the three paths, two of which we're aware of. But the third we still haven't checked. With the rumbling I'd like to think that we did something right but being too optimistic is a bad thing. So for now, lets presume we're on a time crunch all right? Not to rush you guys, but to play it safe."

No issue on getting back to the main junction. However, this time, one of the three possibilities differed slightly from the rest.
Yup, the middle path was slightly wider the tunnel was overall bigger, not to say somewhat more illuminated. Was that change brought by the strange grinding sound heard just moments before? Probably something the foursome would have to find out, at least if they wanted to.
While they were leaving the previous room to go back, no significant changes could be observed by there; no traps triggered at the heist and no sign of the previous room changing whatsoever.
The unexplored room was completely unchanged, at least when given a plain sight. They had no way to know what was inside, so any further changes couldn't be observed. That was the information they had at their disposition at the moment.
Question was, what they were going to do with it?

What K said was agreeable. "Yeah, let's keep the book safe for the time being" Luke stated. For now it was their only tool in solving this mystery of the caverns. Hopefully they could keep it intact. Even if its pages were little but garble, well, it was at least something. That and it seemed to be the only thing available to them from the rudimentary library that didn't result in scary reactions.
They returned to the main chamber, and here, Luke was made a little nervous about what was before him. So far, he had raised a small theory that the illuminative light would guide them in the direction where they needed to go. But, the middle chamber was the route that was lit by the faint light this time. A chamber where he had watched a Chuumon fall to his presumed death. But... rumbling had been heard. Perhaps the situation had changed?
But he decided that this had to be discussed first. "So, guys" Luke spoke to Bellamy, Colin and K. "From what I can gather, this tunnel seems to be guiding us by illumination. So... what should we do? When I explored this chamber here, it suddenly turned into a pitfall, where I assume the Chuumon earlier fell down and drowned in the goo at the bottom. I was able to fly out of it myself, but, from the behaviour of this place so far, it seems to illuminate the path we're meant to go, but, I don't want to go down this path if it's the same".
Colin understood his partner's worries. He would then turn to K and Bellamy to seek their opinion.
"My idea? Luke could fly down there and see if it's still got that trap" the Impmon said. "Of course, he returns if anything dangerous occurs". Bellamy didn't want his brother to get into any danger of course.
Luke was glad of his supporting statement and then glanced at K. "I'm happy to do some recon if that's what you agree" he said.

K didn't like that the middle path was bigger and better illuminated, wasn't that the pit the rat had fallen down? It seemed to be trying to draw them in for some reason; or at least grab their attention somehow. She didn't want then to go down that path, but it was the illuminated one...
"Should be easy to do, we haven't really had to fight anything down here so far and I doubt that's going to change with how things have been thus far."
The idea of having Luke fly down to see what was going on didn't sit well with K, she seemed uncomfortable with the prospect and sat there mulling it over for a few moments. They needed to know what was happening down there; and that was where the problem lay. What if the trap was able to stop him from flying? It might not of been able to earlier but... She'd shake her head and scratch at her cheek; a frown spreading quickly on her face.
"Checking it out might be the only option available at the moment, the question is if you check it out and the lights don't change what do we do then? I don't want to think of what danger there might be at trying to check rooms here that aren't lit up like that."
She'd shrug after a few moments and glance at Luke; the frown vanishing after a few moments.
"Just be careful."

This time, the descent would be just slightly different. As Luke made his descent to the bottom, none of the strange goo that had enveloped the walls before was present, instead showing the polished rock that constituted the walls of the tunnel that went towards was shown pretty clearly; strangely enough they weren't even humid, almost as if the the viscous liquid hadn't even existed in first place.
The most notable difference, however, that was when the bottom was reached, a relatively small stone... lectern? could be made out. It stood alone and seemed to blend in almost perfectly with its environment, and in all honesty, was perfectly capable of making Luke wonder if he hadn't missed it altogether on his first foray downward.
Besides that, however, there wasn't much else to appreciate down. The possible connection was already laid out; what would the foursome make out of it?
