What's a Bakenko!? Something that dances with a towel on their heads? That just sounds so weird. What was that sound behind Alice? Oh well. She looked at the disabled guy, what's a Kotemon? Some like... Fencing Dragon or something? This is all very weird and unnatural to her.
When Kat mentioned a portal, Alice simply backed up, saying, "Uhh, nope. Nopenopenopenooooope! Last time I went through a portal, I ended up in terrible pla-" She just bumped into something... She was about to turn.
Before she got said opportunity to turn, she was scooped up by a giant Lion and raised into the air, "Fantastic! Diving into the unknown! This is the adventure we live for!"
Well... Adventure was definitely not for Alice once she saw the lion holding her. She let out a scream for a second, then latched onto it's arm. "I'm not edible! What did you do with Leo!?
"I am Leo! I just got stronger! And bigger!"
No. This is not good, now it's gonna be impossible to hide her adventure hungry lion monster with a really loud mouth... Wonderful.

With Alice herself joining the party Katsura was starting to feel like a parent or perhaps a babysitter. Watching Duffer using comic books of all sources for reference while sitting in his wheelchair just made him even more pitiful to look at. She then heard Duffer mention a coma, this caught her interest. "Coma?" As duffer agreed to return to the real world, Katsura took out her digidevice and was in the middle of putting in the coordinates for Shibuya Station when Alice had a panic attack. On Alice's order Katsura took her digidevice back in her pocket just before she could activate the portal. Then Katsura shrugged oh well maybe once they have made up their mind she could send duffer to Shibuya. Katsura sighed, she then saw a large lion at first Alice was scared but then he presented himself as her partner Leo.
"Really? Leo the leomon?"

"Ah! BakeNeko." He pronounced it "Bacon-Echo", oddly enough. "In the exotic lands of Japan a Black Cat crossing your path doesn't just mean bad luck, depending on the cat it can also mean death or torture, a mortifying creature disguised as a normal house cat, it is able to take shape of anyone and anything, willing to kill and eat whomever and whatever it wants in a single bite, see more in the Tale of the BakeNeko..." He showed the two the page with the elaborate EC Comics-style rendition of a house cat standing on its hind legs over its deceased owner, its eyes glowing menacingly.
"Haven't read much of these since the coma, gonna have to catch up... I think 24 issues should take me about... 3 or 4 hours." He looked at Alice and her Leomon, confused. "And yeah, Coma. Remember when the mall collapsed two years ago? Me and Knightmon were there trying to save people. I got..." He paused for seemingly no reason. "Concussed! That's the word, concussed! ...I'm confused why I can still speak Japanese though." He confessed.

Leo looked down at Katsura, announcing, "It was after the human constellation! Not our fault it felt fitting to the little blue Lion with a sword!" He didn't even seem to realize how freaked out by this his partner was. Besides the fact that she was still hanging onto his arm, he seemed entirely oblivious. Eventually, he kneeled down a shook his arm a few times, dropping her back on the ground.
Alice got back to her feet, shaking her head, then said, "Now how do we hide you!?"
"You don't need to worry, I'll figure that out!"
Alice simply sighed and looked back at the crowd. So he was at that time the mall got attacked... Interesting. So he... Got a concussion and then... She was eight and she was definitely slow. "So... You got concussed and into a coma? I don't think anyone I've met relating to Digimon speaks just Japanese, or even speaks Japanese half the time."

Katsura shrugged by Leon's explanation of his name, she had stopped trying to make sense of how digimon name themselves ever since a whole platoon of pipmon all named pipmon somehow made it work anyway.
You could tell by her lack of reaction to Duffer's exposition about bakeneko how numb and/or out of place Katsura is. Basically Katsura kept up her happy facial expression with the implications going completely over her head. Katsura then listened and responded to Duffer. "Haven't read much of these since the coma, gonna have to catch up... I think 24 issues should take me about... 3 or 4 hours." "You base your whole life and wisdom on what you read in manga? Is that how you ended up in coma?" "And yeah, Coma. Remember when the mall collapsed two years ago? Me and Knightmon were there trying to save people. I got..." "I don't really go in malls, I grew up in Greater Shibuya."
Using the dispute about concussions and the Japanese language as distraction Katsura took the time to send a text message to Timothy using her digidevice. "Hi Timothy. Ur sister is with me in the digital world. No need to look after her."

"Not manga, Comic books!" He said, upset. "America's dying industry of art and words, and I've based my life on not just them but movies and TV shows. Every episode of the Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, The Real Ghostbusters, horror movies since the 10's to the 2010's, everything I know about monsters, cryptozoology, spectral phenomena, gods, demons, and everything in between has come from these pieces of important material. I know how the living dead work, I know the signs of lycanthropy and vampirism before most people would think of them, I know what kills what and how to avoid others, patterns of serial killers both real and fictional are all mapped out in my head. I am probably the smartest human here, if not in the digital world at all." He huffed and puffed at her accusations of his intellect.
"Yeah, concussion is when you hit your head really hard and feel really sleepy or dizzy. A coma is... um..." He paused. "When you fall asleep but you don't realize you've fallen asleep, I guess? I dunno how it all works, Kotemon usually tells me all that stuff. Oh! Do you speak American?" He asked before switching to English.
[Like this, you know this?]

Luckily for Katsura, Alice was completely distracted, she didn't even take the time to acknowledge Katsura because hey, there was this crippled dude talking crazy about how he has gotten what seemed like all he knew from comics. She wasn't even sure if that was healthy... Or useful at all. "I don't think that is really too useful..."
When he asked if they spoke 'American', that all but reassured Alice that they were all in fact smarter than this guy. "You mean English, right?" She then swapped to English to respond, "Everyone at my home speaks it, though I don't know it too well."
Leo proudly stood behind Alice, crossing his arms and looking down at all the little people and Digimon. He was slowly getting a weird mindset of becoming a guardian to Alice. Though his lust for adventure grew, he seemed to be growing complacent to the idea of biding his time and easing Alice into the Digital World. Maybe this will be good for him, maybe not. Oh well.

So Duffer didn't actually base his whole life around manga? He also base his knowledge on American comics, TV shows and movies. Katsura lifted an eyebrow. She did so because his speech did little to defend him from the accusation of basing his intellect on fiction. Judging from Katsura's expression being book smart and especially comic book smart was not the way to impress Katsura. In Duffer's defense though the digital world had proven to contain several mythological creatures and occasionally religious figures incarnated. But if that was his motivation wouldn't a Bible or something similar be more reliable as a source?
Alice said it best and in least words. "I haven't seen many guys walking around the digital world in spider suits recently." This was Katsura's way of taking Alice's side at the expense of poor Spidey though. Katsura's English was, surprisingly pitiful to hear as she swapped over in it. Most depressing was how proud Katsura sounded and how this was clearly an abysmal attempt to look more schooled than Katsura really is.
[Ohh too beelu pay he do] Katsura said as she pointed at Duffer.
AN: According to my grandpa that line is mandatory to know in every language. RIP :3

"Spider suits? Well, it is October. In the states people always dress up around this time of year. That or there's some kind of cult coming to head, but you'll have to be more specific about it... I've found most cults don't usually do things like that unless it's a specific ceremony and rarely in public. Probably just some weirdos trying to scare people." He brushed it off. "But what I do know is that Kotemon hasn't screamed for me once in the past ten minutes and I'm not leaving these woods without him, even if it means I'll end up with my head on a pike." He said, realizing halfway through the statement how likely it would be this time of year.
"And don't pull any spells on me, witch lady. It's one thing not to like me it's another to put gypsy curses on random people." He said, glaring at Katsura and digging into his backpack for something. "Oh dammit, Kotemon must've thrown out my notebooks, how'm I supposed to make protective sigils now..." He mumbled, annoyed.

Alice clearly didn't understand Katsura's comment about Spidey either. She thought Kat quite literally mean't a spider. She looked around for a moment, but soon gave up on finding the spider. Then Kat tried English... "Katsura... What did you even say then?"
Leo was also looking around for a spider, completely unaware of what Kat mean't either. He was a lot more vigilant than Alice as well, going as far as to start patrolling the area to find this spider. He didn't care about the bad English as he didn't even know that.
Wait, cults!? Why are there cults going into the topic now!? What's going on!? Alice didn't understand this anymore. Since when were cults involved in spiders? That's so weird.
Now he's getting into protective sigils? What are protective sigils? "You're really weird... Aren't you...."

Katsura shock her head in disbelief, to her the idea of using comic books as guidance was sounding dumber and dumber for every minute of hearing Duffer's argument. With Leomon clearly not getting the analogy either, though in his defense you can't blame a digimon for not knowing about Spiderman. Katsura turned down to Nyao. "Hey Nyao, there isn't any digimon who happen to dress up all the time as other digimon. Right?" "Oh there is, you're thinking about Betsumon." "Huh, I was being sarcastic. The digital world never cease to surprise me." "Leomon you can stop looking for spiders. Katsura was joking... I think."
Katsura then had to explain her English to Alice, with a proud look and a matter of fact way of speaking. Still oblivious to how she had just completely butchered the English language. "I said that Duffer is to give me beer, just something I picked up from the streets." While she saying that Duffer was rambling and searching his backpack, Katsura wanted to say something but Alice just spoke what Katsura thought. Once again Katsura wondered if having him stay in the digital world really was the right thing.

"Listen, I've just been a bit out of it because of the painkillers and Kotemon's giving me Hell about "being more careful" and "needing to learn to spot danger" and all that stuff. I just... It's been a long, difficult time trying to get back on my feet." He looked at Katsura confused. "...I'm not old enough to drink, what're you talking about?"
"You two can keep making fun of me if you want, but Kotemon's never, ever been gone this long without me, and even if it's against everything I believe in I'm going to go find him. You two can keep being creepy alone in the woods for all I care." The wheel-chair bound boy began slowly rolling away to where he last saw Kotemon, making sure to pick up his old bat from the ground as soon as he passed it by. Reaching for it though, Duffer saw something else, something far, far more worrying to him. "Uh... guys?!" He shouted back as he picked it up. Kotemon's helmet and training sword had been abandoned in the woods.

(Sorry for the long wait, been very slow an inactive as of late, school reasons)
"If I stop hunting for spiders, what happens when one shows up and attacks?" Leo had some logic behind this at least. It was crazy logic, but it was there. He held his ground, kept looking around, and eventually stopped for a moment. However, that moment of no Leomon movements, Leo started searching again.
Alice let out a sigh at Katsura's comment, "You know what beer is... Right?" She glanced back at the wheelchair-bound kid as he had ridden off to find his partner. What she saw was that he had found something... Something that looked like training gear.
She ran over to it, curious. "What's the gear for?" She had never seen the Digimon he was looking for so there wasn't much she was gonna be able to do to help.

Katsura was confused for a minute, did she say the phrase wrong? Maybe it was an English insult or something? It didn't occur to her that the phrase by nature probably weren't even appropriate to begin with.
Katsura stared at Duffer yelling up about feeling teased and forced to be careful. To her Duffer was still sounding like a scared little girl and now a girl throwing a temper tantrum. Genuinely a boy in a wheelchair obsessed with comics rambling about ghosts did not sound like a serious source let alone someone capable of taking care of themselves. With that context in mind the only reaction Duffer could get out of her was a shrug. Duffer would get the impression that Katsura did not acknowledge his intellect at all.
There was however one request that her conscience forbid her to meet. Leaving a boy like Duffer all alone without at least a digimon partner. "I'm afraid I can't do that" Katsura said while Duffer tried to roll away. In this pitiful state Duffer had no chance getting away from Katsura even when she walked in regular speed. She was surprised that he even succeeded without the wheel getting stuck in the mud.
Katsura looked at the gear that likely belonged to his partner. "Looks like your partner got abducted. There's no way I can leave you alone now." "It looks like we have another adventure then, I guess." "Yeah, I guess it looks that way." "Oh well sounds like fun"
It didn't look like they cared much about whether Duffer wanted their company, if at all. Rather, it looks like he'll be stuck with Katsura and Nyao for a long time and without a partner does he even have a choice in the matter anyway?

Duffer frowned, looking over the equipment as he picked it up. No scratches or marks, no signs of any ectoplasm or similar substances either. He ignored the girls and began looking around for marks on trees or patterns in the soil. "Predators only decapitate those they think are worthy opponents..." He mumbled to himself in English. "No battle damage on the blade means he was likely ambushed. Can a kotemon live without their helmet?" He asked himself, searching the tree branches. No symbols or broken branches either. His partner seemed to be gone without a trace. "Lack of blood or data implies no cutting and there was dead silence, even a silencer or tranq round would create some kind of noise. Must've been knocked unconscious or wandered off... Charmed, maybe?" The wheelchair bound teen turned to Katsura.
"I hate to say it but I kinda have to stick with you now." He spoke in an unhappy japanese. The boy picked up the helmet and training sword for a more thorough examination, trying to look at it from every angle. "I know how this goes. There's something in the woods, I'm the crippled kid who'll get macheted down a staircase, and the little girl will survive. Kat may or may not survive, that depends on if she's a virgin or not." He realized he just said that out loud. "I MEAN, OBVIOUSLY we'll all be fine because we're all perfectly- I mean, I'm not saying you wouldn't- It's just, I'm assuming you don-AREN'T interested in, it's just..." He was blushing furiously now.
