"Yeah! Not even close. All skill, no luck!"
Suddenly though, everything seemed to turn just one step more bizarre. Haley squinted against the light, shielding her eyes with her left hand as she instinctively got into a more guarded posture, her digivice giving a shrill warning beep as the massive wave of energy from that nearby high level digivolution rippled throughout the world revealing whatever that was. She thought she heard "Ladydevimon"? To her though, that just looked like a straight up demon. The girl took a step back, hiding her fear and moving to shield her new digimon friend with her own body if need be.
"If it goes bad, run, okay? Or roll or... whatever it is you do. Just go and don't look back."
It seemed to be just ferrying people across a river though, and this other human seemed to remain in control, yet, Haley wasn't taking any chances. She wasn't going to run, she stood her ground, protecting her new partner. "I uh... swear they were a cat a moment ago. The fuck is going on?"
BEEPBEEP
This thing was still bleeping away. Haley didn't want to take her eyes off the situation, but, her digivice had started to glow, emitting a soft golden light of its own that just simply grew and grew, shining out of her pocket.
"PUNIMON DIGIVOLVE TO... TSUNOMON!"

Things got really weird briefly as Coolmon found herself face to face with a LadyDevimon.
That was offering her a ride.
Well, she had a hazy memory of her mom telling her never to accept rides from Virus types but Nyao seemed alright... "...Okay but take Rinji across first." Coolmon was definitely being very specific when she said that. AND THEN.
A loud beeping graced her ears. And by graced, it actually hit her. "...The heck's that noise? A digiv--..."
And then she looked to where Haley was and heard the words.
"...Oh. OH. HER PARTNER'S DOING THE THING!" She exclaimed with glee!

May not be my best post, I just want to restart the thread
It looks like both Rinji and Coolmon albeit reluctantly was accepting Nyao's offer to be carried over the river. In honor of Coolmon's request, Nyao started by flying over to Rinji. Kneeling before him to allow him to climb her, if the ride was accepted she'd then fly him over next to Katsura. Once done with carrying Rinji she'd go over and allow Coolmon and offer her a ride as well. Being the digimon equivalent of a taxi driver meant it was up to Katsura to fill Haley in on what was going on. She looked very frightened and confused, going as far as defending her digimon from Nyao.
"Don't be scared, this is still Nyao. Like a catapillar digimon change form all the time. But you have bonded to a digimon just like me, when the bond between a human and a digimon tighten the digimon grows into a new form. Look"
Katsura watched Punimon digivolve together with Haley trying to induce her with comfort at this critical moment.

Looked like he was going first. He looked over to the kneeling LadyDevimon and reluctantly climbed onto her, taking care not to poke her too hard with any of his legs. Unlike Haley, he knew that Nyao had simply digivolved - although he was still naturally quite fearful of the demon digimon.
When she landed on the other side of the river and dropped him off, he took a deep breath and tried to shout the a-okay to Coolmon. Suddenly, another bright flash interrupted him.
He turned, staring at the Tsunomon. It had been a Punimon two seconds ago. "Oh, congratulations!" The digimon was growing so fast. Was this the power of a tamer?
Katsura seemed to think so. She was also providing a pretty good explanation on everything that was going on. "He already said, but now he's a Tsunomon. Punimon was his baby form, now this is his in-training form. He'll be a rookie like me and Coolmon if he digivolves again!" He couldn't help it, but he was excited to see what the little horned fuzzball would evolve into. It definitely looked like it would be a mammal digimon. Would his former prediction be right?
Still, he waited patiently on the other side of the river for Coolmon to be carried over.

Haley, flinched, bringing up her hand to shield her eyes and turning her head away as her digivice lit up like some sort of brilliant beacon of golden light, both its incessant beeping and the strange shout from her new little spheroid digimon partner ringing in her ears. "Uuuuh... Ooookay then. That was loud. Jesus." She paused for a while, just trying to mentally process what just happened. The cat had turned into a demon looking monstrosity, and the strange red blob had turned into... a slightly larger blob with ginger hair and a horn.
Under more casual circumstances Haley might have a few snide comments to make at this turn of events, however, she was still very much concerned not only for her own safety, but, for the safety of the now horned blob that had seemingly become attached to her through this strange "digivice."
"Right okay. Digital world, somehow. Things live in it that can talk, somehow, and I've been, what, linked with this guy through this thing?"
She ruffled the newly evolved Tsunomon's hair while talking, holding her digivice in her other hand, looking between it as she pressed its various buttons in an attempt to fathom more of its features and the crowd of people, both this and the other side of the river.
"How do people not know about this? Are we the only peo- uh, wrong word I guess, are we the only humans here? How has word not gotten out over something this big?"

Coolmon was carried across the gap by the nice devil lady (TM) with ease. Aw, shucks, what a nice person.
"Well, yeah, digivolution's a really loud sort of deal. Um. Rinji's more or less got it on the mark...He evolves again, he's like us. Easy." She nodnodded at the lil girl. "And you're exactly right! A tamer and a partner have a very special link that some say's like...equivalent to the bond between a guy and his dog. Best pals for life."
AS for that last question...
"I dunno! People like you come and go so much I dunno how much about this world is even known on the other side. DATS is...er. Was a thing...Hmmm..."

As often happens around Katsura when the topic falls on digimon, she can be rather obsessive especially to outsiders. Katsura stared intensely at the digivolution with stars in her eyes, and little to no sense of personal space. Katsura was sitting right next to Haley and had her face almost right at the newborn digimon to the point where she had to tilt her head backwards to give Haley room. Katsura additionally seemed very oblivious to Haley's distress apparently forgetting that this was not a normal everyday occurrence. Well after a while it looked like Haley had some questions and aside from agreeing with Katsura's previous rant, which caused Katsura to nod in gratitude over the acknowledgment of her smarts, neither digimon seemed to know how humans keep the digital world a secret. This sounds like a job for "professor Katsura".
"He's your best friend for life now, also umm there's plenty of people who have digimon some even know a way to become one themselves through affinity for elements, I guess. No idea how that works to be honest. It's an open secret that digimon exists, fortunately. Imagine what would happen if everyone knew about digimon. Some people disguise their digimon, like me, I like to pretend that Nyao is my plush toy-kitten. Picture this: "That little girl I saw on the street has a toy cat who's alive and it talks to me, please believe me!" If I walked around yelling stuff like that everyone would think I'm just a mad person with a tinfoil hat. As long as Nyao keep up the act it'll work. It's also popular to hide digimon in backpacks."

Well, this conversation was informative. Rinji nodded, listening as it carried through, respecting everyone else's personal space. He couldn't help but chuckle a little at Katsura's cool explanation, even if he wasn't entirely sure if she was joking or not.
"I almost had to hide in a duffel bag once," he admitted, remembering his adventure into the human world. "Of course, I had to de-digivolve into a Chilomon though... I got to pretend to be a stuffed animal instead," he continued, reminiscing slightly. Those were crazy but fun times. Just like now, he supposed.
He had no idea what DATs were, though. Maybe it was something Coolmon had stumbled into on her adventures. She seemed to know more than he did, at times. Perhaps it was all the wandering that she did.
"Humans are actually a pretty common sight here in the Digital World though," Rinji said, hoping to continue the little spot of education the group was giving to Haley. "You should see Terminus City, it's like the main hub for humans and digimon."
Humans were quite lucky, in that regard. They never had to worry about hiding themselves from view. Except maybe on Eldoradimon. Even then... couldn't Spirit Users easily get away with smuggling themselves into the city?
"Still... I wouldn't trust every digimon you meet. Some are more... wild than others." He found himself pausing in thought, before settling on the word 'wild'. "I guess that's why humans always get partnered up or some other ability to defend themselves. Otherwise you'd be, well, a sitting duck," he mused, remembering the human phrase.
The Scolomon looked behind himself, back towards the river. They'd cleared it pretty nicely. If all was well, the group would carry on walking together towards the meat fields.
