The next attack wouldn't be as successful, however. Escamon managed to break the makeshift weapon with a powerful blow, effectively nullifying the attack that would leave Stridermon at its mercy; something akin to hatred began to well up inside the digimon. That wouldn't last much, however; Rinji's own Scarlet Rain managed to dissolve the weapon ever further, kicking out a cloud of dirt and obscuring the area where the fight was currently raging.
As Siftermon thrashed against Escamon, trying to move him out of its way, Stridermon seized the moment; yes, both her and Escamon were really close by, but she still unleashed yet another Blaze Blast, knowing for sure that this would be a direct impact, and probably enough to leave the digimon severely damaged. Victory drew closer...
It was a strange sensation, the sound of the rushing fire as the torrent enveloped everything around her. The digimon could feel a dull sensation, akin to pain but the glee of sensing her opponent engulfed in that blast from such a close distance made up for it.
After it, Siftermon was left pretty much in a heap on the previously green grass, long dead and incinerated by now. The champion-level could barely stand, and as it stood, it wouldn't take much to finally bring it down.
And that was something Amelie's spirit form knew all too well as she drew dangerously close to it...

Escamon landed, digging his other arm into the ground, scanning the area for what to do next. He raised his arm to protect himself from the creature's thrashing, as he had won it's attention for now. He was hesitant to fight back, as he was still unsure as to what attacks it could do, so playing defensive was his best current option. He noticed a glow approaching, and turned towards the source, he had no chance to avoid the explosion. He was blasted aside, skidding through the ground, and slamming into a nearby tree. He stayed still for a moment, before he sputtered back into movement, rolling to his side, and pushing himself with his bigger arm, but it had sustained new damage from Siftermon's thrashing, and his back engines visibly sputtering as he stood. Regardless, he still raised his head, leaning forward, and shifting onto his foot. He glanced up, seeing Siftermon, before he raised his arm, supporting his fist with his shoulder and aiming his elbow at the downed creature. A cracked targeting lens flipped open, as he mechanically targeted his opponent, his task not completed yet.

Rinji watched worriedly as Escamon was blasted aside by Stridermon. "Amy!" He yelled, a little shocked that she would go for an attack so close to a friend. What was she doing?
Still, Escamon didn't seem too phased, maybe that's why she took that risk? He hoped Escamon didn't mind...
"Is it over now?" He peered at the smouldering body of the digimon. "Woah," Amy had done a number on it. "What should we do?" It didn't seem right to just leave it there, but then again, he didn't even know what it was. It was some kind of monstrosity that, when he thought about it, looked somewhat similar to Amy's Spirit Evolution.
The idea that Stridermon's slow approach towards Siftermon spelled its end didn't even enter his head. And surely, Escamon targeting it like that was just a precaution, in case it got up again, right?
Although Amy's total lack of response to any of his questions was a little unsettling. "Umm, Amy, what are you doing?"

No more and no less than instinct remained; the obvious conclusion this fight should have. Unceremoniously, one of Stridermon's limbs balled into a club-like shape, rose up... and then was brought down.
And that same movement repeated, again and again until the very existence of Siftermon began to disassemble itself, the matter composing its body breaking down under the pressure of the repeated attacks.
It was a matter of a split second; before the host body of Siftermon's spirit could finally decompose into data, Stridermon assimilated it in a swift motion, totem included among it. Not the most orthodox method of acquiring it, but it had seemed to be good enough for the digimon. Soon enough, a circle of data whirled around it, its form changing into the one who had been a foe moments before, and regarding the ones who had been her allies.
There was no meaning to be found in any of those words. No more and no less than instinct remained. And it dictated for her to... finish the job.
Completely disregarding reactions, affection or reason, the next thing that happened was two fireballs being hurled; one in Escamon's direction, and the next in Rinji's.
Despite the unexpected conclusion, there had been a measure of restraint on that attack, as minimal as it had been, and especially at the attack being directed at Rinji. Would that be enough? Blaze Blast at you guys.

Escamon watched as the monster was ripped apart, and finally fell. He stood, slowly, watching the remains fade away. There was... something. Something off about what was happening now. The other spirit user was... unresponsive at best. She then turned, launching fireballs at the two. He Locked on to the projectile heading his way, launching the missile at Rinjimon's fireball, before he clenched his massive fist, as he turned towards his own fireball, which was dangerously close, as he fired a red beam straight into the fire, slicing straight through it, and cleaving it in two.
This didn't stop it, however, as he yelled at Rinji, "Restrain her!" a moment before the remains of the fireball slammed into him, making him stagger, and fall to his knees, again, the damage was taking it's toll, and he felt his machine-like focus slipping as his form fizzled. He couldn't be sure, but he felt that this other digimon knew her better, therefore, he should be able to calm her down. For now, he was running on fumes, his engine sputtering, as he felt he could do little else but try to rest, at least a little, to regain a minimal amount of energy.

Seeing Amy effectively bludgeon the digimon to death was possibly the most violent thing Rinji had ever seen in his life. His wide-eyed screams for her to stop went unheard, and soon the monstrous thing was dead. Or so it appeared.
He could only watch in frightened bewilderment as Amy assimilated the monster, and became it. It was both brutal and freaky at the same time. Yet if someone were to whisk Rinji away from the scene, and deeply inquire as to what he felt, disgust and fear wouldn't be his only emotions. Somewhere, deep in his subconscious, a primitive sense of pure excitement stirred. An excitement to fight that - in the future - would bring upon a whole new form.
But now he could only watch, caught like a deer in headlights, as a fireball was careening towards him. One part of him was frozen, while his instincts told him to fight without abandon. Alas, his hesitance was his downfall again, as Escamon's missile came to his rescue.
The resulting explosion rang in his ears, and brought him back to reality.
"Restrain her!" Were the only, and first, words Rinji had heard from Escamon since the start of the battle. "O-okay!" Said digimon was looking worse for wear, having taken a blast that Rinji had been spared from.
Rinji really didn't want to, but he didn't have much choice. He would have to try and subdue her somehow. "Amy, you have to stop!" He yelled, hoping to appeal to her emotions - and possibly distract her from Escamon. "It's okay now! We can talk!" He didn't really know why she was behaving like this, but something deep in his mind knew that she was simply out of control.
And this sense of caution and unease had wit, for Rinji's muscles were unconsciously coursing with unseen electricity as he spoke, ready to discharge in defense.

The silence of the canopy while the fight raged on, was as dissonant as it could get. The clearing seemed to have suppressed every sound besides the one that the combatants made while clashing against each other. It was a bit eerie, but it wasn't like any of the digimon currently there cared too much about it
What came next wasn't a surprise, honestly; after the attack had successfully managed to knock one of her enemies back, Siftermon charged forward, invigorated at the sight of the fight going in her favor. At least at first; even if the digimon closed the distance that separated her from Rinji in what felt like a second, all her movements after that seemed to be enveloped in hesitation. At first, it seemed that she was about to just spew another fiery attack at the centipede, but at the last second, the flames died and instead, a clawed hand began to descend towards Rinji at a less than optimal speed.
Maybe his words were being effective? If that was any indication, Amelie was probably struggling against the being that currently had taken her body over, and was trying her hardest to not to harm a dear friend. Or at least that seemed to be the case; who knew what was happening in reality.

Escamon staggered a bit further down, his laser fizzling out as soon as the impact hit him, supporting himself with his crusher arm. He was having trouble with moving, at the moment, as even though he was built a bit sturdier than the others, he wasn't invincible, and he had taken the majority of Siftermon's attacks, as he was probably the most aggressive of the group, therefore he must have been the most exposed. Furthermore, mentally, he wasn't entirely sure how to help this scenario, as there was little he could imagine himself doing even when he managed to stand, he was never good with people, and if he was to guess, this was a problem that was a tad bit more complex than he could help with.
The two definitely knew each other, but he had no clue who they were, or what was really going on here, he had just managed to stumble into yet another life-threatening situation. He was getting frustrated at the frequency of these events. Maybe he should just stick to the cities? Well, in this place, he wouldn't be surprised if nonsense like this found him, regardless. "I just want to go home..." He muttered, to himself, more than anything else. Escamon couldn't help but imagine what a peaceful life would look like, as well. He could build anything he wanted, but as he was now, it would just be fight, after fight, after fight, until he might just vanish, having built nothing.
He immediately sat there, shaking himself out of that weird funk, what was he talking about? This is how it's always been, for him. It's always been one task after the other, this is what he liked about working, it's predictability. This was just another event towards his goal. Leaving this insane place. For now, he would just wait and hope that the centipede digimon could get through to her. He had done his job.

"Amy?" Rinji semi-whispered, still unsure. The confrontation, the uncertainty - he was actually shuddering. He wanted to run, he really did, yet he wanted to fight as well. To fight for Amy or for his own life, he didn't know anymore. He wasn't even sure if Amy was there anymore, it almost seemed as if the monster had absorbed her instead of the other way around.
He wanted to keep trying to come up with something to try and bring her back - instead, he found himself backing away slowly, fear written on his face, a result of an inability to understand anything that was going on. Escamon was looking similarly worn and weary: he wasn't the only one that wanted to go home.
And in a flash, Siftermon was stood before him, imposing and impossibly superior in every way. It was wracking, and he almost forgot that it was Amy. But the digimon's movements seemed to slow all of a sudden, the wall of fire that Rinji almost expected dissipating. "Amy?" He repeated out of hope. A dead, cruel hope.
But out of the extinguished fire came a terrifying hand, descending as if it were about to squish him. Looking up in silent terror, he failed to do anything for half a second, and tried to half-duck half-sidestep out of the way.
Was it too late? Maybe the currents flowing through his body would be enough to zap the rogue digimon and let him go? The most he had now was his carapace, and he briefly imagined it being cracked in two - battered, scarred or bleeding. When was the last time he bled?

Everything about Siftermon's current actions cried struggle; the limb that had, at first descended not as quickly, yet on a blunt motion, had stopped midway, then advanced again, just to reel a bit at the sensation of electricity coursing through it.
Hostility; an expected reaction or... was it? As soon as it was felt, the digimon's gestures became way more abrupt; the hand-like limb would try to pick Rinji up, its body taking a keen interest in the centipede.
At least initially; whether the move had been successful or not, Siftermon's movements would become unstable instants afterwards, a gurgly shriek coming out from one of its membranes.´
"Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii." An almost impossibly acute sound afterwards, the clawed hand would lash out, either flinging Rinji towards the nearest tree in a brutal fashion if it had managed to pick him up, try to swat him away in the same way if it hadn't. Siftermon's body began to contort and twist, almost as if it were fighting with an inner enemy. "Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu."
If that had been a warning, that was the only one the digimon would care to give out. In a matter of seconds, the inner fight seemed to have been surpressed, and a Siftermon showing more resolve than ever before charged directly at Escamon, trying to tear him apart with its claws. It's just a basic attack.

To say things weren't going well was an understatement. Escamon could only slump further down on his Crusher Arm, that seemed to be failing him, as well, as it was constantly releasing steam as it sank deeper into the ground. Escamon stared straight at the two, through his helmed head, he spied the humanoid being try to pick up it's "friend", and Escamon couldn't help but feel dread at all of this. However, after a moment of everything going still, he dared to think it might have worked. However, this thought was quickly dashed by the other spirit tossing the centipede aside and rushing him.
Escamon planted his left hand on the ground, as he drew out his remaining strength, and rose to his feet, while the feral being charged him, making honestly quite disturbing noises. However, he revealed what he was doing, all this time, as his crusher arm was dragged out of the dirt of the ground, he was grabbing as many stones as possible underground, and mashing it up with a hefty amount of soil to create a decently durable pillar. He fired out his pillar, horizontally, in front of him, and switched his Crusher arm's grip , as well as grabbing at the other end with his left, before shoving the pillar towards Siftermon's incoming claws, as Escamon was confident he could physically overpower her.
He slammed into her, trying to get her claws stuck in his pillar, either way he'd shove the pillar further, trying to knock her over to pin her to the ground, with the pillar between the two. It was the only plan he could come up with, to disable her. He decided to do the one thing he could remember his superiors doing when the occasional drunk showed up. "Where do you live!? We can take you home! Think!" He yelled, which was slightly uncharacteristic of him, but he was emulating someone he knew, rather than himself.

(Amy and I have agreed to continue the thread, hope everyone's alright with this. Thank you everyone for your patience.)
Rinji could feel the similar sensation of static electricity leaving his body, shocking Siftermon. However, he didn't have time to be surprised at this - the digimon immediately started doing... something else. Siftermon was groaning? To Rinji, it almost sounded like it was in pain. Yet before he could move a muscle, Siftermon's alien hand descended, grabbed him and unceremoniously launched him aside.
He could only scream before he slammed into a tree. The old thing creaked, and a crack propagated down the centre. Rinji was faring no better - he had slid down the tree, an unsightly crack along his own carapace. A blue, milky fluid started leaking from the wound.
Despite the pain this caused him, he was still conscious. Barely awake, he could only think about Amelie. Was she still really in there?
He groaned again, trying to get up. The digital blood was dripping onto the ground now, but he got up just in time to see Escamon being attacked by Siftermon. He could barely whisper out a warning before he moaned in pain.
"No, I've got to keep going... got to help," he hissed to himself, forcing himself to move despite the injury. "Amy..." Once again, he tried approaching her, with no idea what he would do if he managed to grab her attention again.

It was undoubtedly a close match; Escamon undoubtedly had the edge regarding raw strength, Siftermon knowing this all too well and... frankly not caring at all, at least at first; the digimon met its opponent head-on, makeshift claws colliding with a makeshift club.
Every sign showed that, eventually, the hostile digimon would be overwhelmed, at least until... voices began to speak in her direction. The words of both the spirit user and Rinji impacted Siftermon with more force than anything Escamon could've mustered. An indecipherable howl could be heard from the digimon's vague direction, almost as if she had been injured despite struggling against the Pillar Pound attack. The maddening sound was accompanied by a wave of violet energy that surged outwards and tried to reach both Escamon and Rinji.
Was that a last ditch effort? If Escamon could persevere, he'd probably overpower his enemy shortly, but currently, that was a pretty big if. How would Rinji react to this situation? Those and many more questions would be answered shortly, even if one thing was for certain.
Siftermon seemed to be struggling against itself even more than before, and clear signs of the digimon getting exhausted from both its outward and inward struggle were more than obvious. This battle would end shortly, no matter what. Siftermon is using Whispers of Madness on Both Rinji and Escamon. —Whispers of Madness [RAM Upgrade]: The target's forced to experience something nobody should experience. As a result, they aren't unable to distinguish between friend, foe and themselves while this effect lasts. Can be resisted psychically. Duration: 2 posts. Cooldown: 2
What exactly your characters want to experience if you get hit (or even if you wanna leave it as something vague), and if you resist the ability is up to you! Just make sure it's horryfing enough.

He had the monster now, but he didn't want it to keep writhing like it was, it was, in a word, distracting, as it seemed to be in genuine anguish despite the fact that Escamon's earthen restraints weren't actually damaging her. He honestly didn't have much clue on what to do next, could he just keep holding this beast down? His strategy had worked, but now he had no real idea on another step in this master plan. Escamon sat up, noticing the bizarre noise from the beast, and as the purple energy washed over his visor, he felt his human counterpart be stripped away.
In that moment, Escamon was totally alone. "Where...?" he tried speaking that word, but a metallic groan exited his mouth instead. He glanced around, he was... surrounded by rocks, and behind him was several chrome towers, painted by concrete. "...?" He stared back down at the ground, where Siftermon once lay. His target was gone, but in it's place lay three, solitary stone blocks. His arms(?) moved as delicately as they could, but they were so big and... clumsy, he might as well of had frying pans for hands. Immediately he noticed that the three cubes were in a tower. He wanted to build a tower with these blocks, he... wanted to build something.
The cubes fell over. He just couldn't make a good tower. Why? Why couldn't he just build this thing? His groan grew into a roar, as the smoke that emerged from his back changed from it's soft grey to pitch black. He... He could only destroy, that... he couldn't accept that. He released the pillar with his Crusher arm, rearing it over his head, before he slammed his fist down right next to where his failed construction was. He was consumed with a rage he could have sworn was familiar. His fist slammed down right next to Stridermon, before he raised his arm once more, consecutively repeating the strike, punching the ground, burrowing a hole right next to his captive. Fortunately, his hallucination held her head where his failed tower was, which he was currently unable to bring himself to tear apart just yet.
