DracNos was never really be sure of what he was doing, wandering about, immeasurably bored. He stopped his march, to stretch, bringing himself as tall as possible for his small frame, before resuming on his way. He was… entirely uninterested in lots of his surroundings, trees, grass, sky, clouds, none of it was valuable to him. He slashed at a tree, to accentuate his point, to none other than himself. He wasn’t sure, but he felt he should go across the ocean. Something there was… calling to him. He glowed, turning to a massive wolf monster, something that at first glance would not help him cross the sea, until the being melted into shadow. This shadow flew across the ocean, immediately sinking to it’s depths, and still moving, guided only by some form of internal compass.
Eventually, the shadow slipped out of the ocean, into a deeper dark, as he had reached the Dark Area. He shook himself off, before… smelling something. He couldn’t see in his current state, but something tickled his incredibly sensitive nose. He stalked over to a small patch of field in the Forsaken Wasteland, before hesitantly sticking his nose forward, as he immediately sensed something that should not be in the dark area: Light. He took a deep sniff from his nose, smelling… confetti and a stark lack of the usual harsh and stressful environment of the Dark Area. A place like this… just shouldn’t be here. DracNos backed out, snorting in confusion. He didn’t know what to make of this. He degenerated to rookie, before staring around. The wasteland was just as barren and desolate as he remembered, but he stepped forward a few feet, causing a whole town to manifest out of nowhere. Drac backed up, and it disappeared, once more. “Huh.” He remarked, thoughtfully, sitting down to consider what this thing could be.
It was then it dawned on him: This was an adventure, an especially interesting one at that. But, he couldn’t just have an adventure alone, he would need some company. So he changed to Matadormon, his ultimate, as changing his form had almost become second nature to him, as he raised his heel skywards, before bringing it down with immense force, cleaving a 40 foot long gouge in the earth, as a landmark to remember, before he did that thing where anime characters vanish in place, signifying that they left, presumably to find virtually anyone to share this discovery with him. He moved about the landscape, faster than a normal eye could see, searching for... Virtually anything he thinks could be a good comrade. The chances of seeing a friendly face in the Dark area was admittedly slim, however.

The digital world was strange and vast, so Alexa supposed she shouldn't have been too surprised that a place as desolate and hopeless as the forsaken wasteland existed. Data and Alexa had been sent there by a request to find a missing person who was last spotted in the area. The client was very hush-hush about why their friend was their in the first place, and Data didn't think it important to ask. Alexa had no idea why anyone would end up here.
Apparently, it wasn't unusual for Virus digimon like Data to live here. They had gotten odd looks when they first arrived in Fragment village with Data as Pegasusmon, but when he reverted to DemiDevimon the villagers stopped looking and returned the their chores.
"Maybe I shouldn't have brought you. How're you holding up, kid?" Data asked. Alexa put on a fake smile - she was scared and even felt a bit hopeless, but she didn't want to worry Data unnecessarily. Sometimes being in bad places was part of being a tamer, heck, part of being a detective.
"I'll be fine," she said, not adding that she'd be even finer when they finally left.
"Alright, that's good. So, we have to look for any traces this Psychemon might have left behind. Paw prints, attack marks, anything. Keep your eyes peeled," Data said, before flying a little into the air to scout things out. Alexa waited patiently for him to return. She took a quick look around herself. No obvious traces of the missing Psychemon were apparent. But there was something in the shadows, something distant. But something big.
"D-data? You may want to look over there!" Alexa pointed out into the mist, pointing at a large shadowy figure. But just as she pointed out, it seemed to disappear. Great. She looked like a lunatic now. She could've sworn she'd seen a huge thing raise it's leg and cleave the ground.
"It might just be a trick of the eyes," Data called down, having not seen anything.

"A trick of the eyes? Nah, I'm just fast." A voice with a flamboyant and unmistakably Mexican accent, explained, right behind and... Above Alexa, Behind her stood a tall figure, at least 15 feet in height, but frightfully thin. It was also wearing what looked like folk dancing robes.
The tall stranger didn't turn to face her, rather, he leaned his torso back, and kept leaning. It didn't stop until it's head was just above hers, it's red, crystalline eyes staring down at her, "Hm... You look like a fine gentlewoman, but what are the chances of me running into someone like you in a place like this? Truly a stroke of fate!" He remarked, bringing himself back to a standing position, this time turning to look at Data, "Honestly, you are lucky to have run into a gentlemon such as myself, and not some brute." He remarked, before glancing towards where he once stood, "It must have taken me less than five seconds to find a participant, isn't that impressive?" He asked, as though asking for input from the two.
He abruptly perked his head up, in a sudden movement, before chuckling, "Ah, where are my manners? I am DracNos, or Matadormon, an ultimate level digimon, in case you aren't familiar with what digimon I am. And who, may I ask, are you?" He asked, calmly, seeming to gloss over his previous questions.

A voice came out of nowhere. Alexa jumped in shock. Data quickly flew back down, and perched on his tamer's shoulder, looking around. They couldn't see anyone right away. And then Data turned around. Oh wow. There certainly was someone there. A very tall someone, looming over the duo.
"You definitely are no trick of the eyes," Data said, smiling. He doubted this creature was going to harm them, based on how friendly it seemed so far. When Alexa looked up, however, she nearly wet herself. She had no idea what to make of this gigantic multi-colored stranger. It took all her nerve not to run away as she looked the beast in his red eyes.
"T-thank you. Impressive indeed. Y-yes, truly a stroke of fate," Alexa repeated. Data shook his head. She was learning, but she still needed some experience yet so she wouldn't be so shaken by things in the digital world. He took it upon himself to talk to DracNos.
"Lucky we are indeed. Usually out here there are just brutes and shadows. It's nice to see someone so colorful. It's been awhile since I've seen a Matadormon. Anyway, I'm Data, a detective, and this here is my tamer, Alexa." He patted Alexa's head and she nodded slowly. So far they'd had lucky with ultimate digimon, but Alexa knew their luck could run out at any time.
"We're out here looking for a missing Psychemon. You wouldn't have happened upon any in your travels, have you?" Data asked, not holding on yo too much hope.

He tilted his head at the girl's curious response. She was just agreeing to everything he said, that was reckless, what if someone had asked her to do something? Would she just go along with it, regardless?
His attention was grabbed by the Demidevimon on her shoulder, apparently he was familiar with a digimon like himself, which was interesting, the rookie level seemed much more experienced than the girl.
"Ooh, a detective you say? Yes, you two will do nicely." He muttered to himself, before hearing their question. He brought his robed hand to his chin, "Psychemon...? Hm... I can't say I have, but... What would a data type be doing in the Dark Area? Well, regardless, seeing as how colorful a digimon he is... I do believe I would know where he could be hiding." He remarked, "Then again, it IS just a hunch, but he may be there." He said, gesturing to where he was when Alexa first saw him, pointing out a part of the wasteland that looked entirely normal to the rest of the drab environment, save for the split in the earth he caused.
"I was actually about to explore that wonderland myself, when you two pranced along." He remarked, as he set off towards that direction, moving calmly and at a regular pace, his body swaying like a tree in the wind as he moved, looking quite fragile, despite his size. He seemed to be assuming the two would follow him.

He'll do nicely? Okay. Well, Data always liked being needed. THe Matadormon hadn't seen Psychemon, which was expected, but he might have had a lead? The duo really were lucky to have met this eccentric digimon.
"No idea why he'd be out there. His friend just said he got lost," Data explained, though he himself had many questions he planned to ask Psychemon once they found him. Data looked over to where Matadormon pointed.
"That's where I first saw you," Alexa said, quietly. This digimon was wicked fast. She wondered if Data would be like that when he evolved into ultimate. Would she be just as scared of him once he evolved? She hoped not. After all, even if he was a huge, lumbering creature, Data would still always be regular friendly ol' Data... right?
The two followed after DracNos, though they had a tough time keeping pace with his large legs. Alexa squeaked when they approached the area, and saw the large cleft left in the ground.
"D-did you do that?" Alexa asked? She and Data hadn't seemed to have spotted the anomaly in the area.

"Well, I spend half my time lost, as well, so I can relate." He remarked, as an attempt at small talk about this wandering friend of theirs. He nodded, at Alexa's observation, "Indeed, that was the starting point of my search, honestly things ended up working out much quicker than I thought they would."
He decided to take a closer look at the two, turning towards them, leaning down, as they spoke up about the hole in the ground, "Oh, that? Well, I thought I would go a fair distance away from this point, so I thought I would leave a landmark to properly mark the area." He explained, dismissively, as he walked over to the crevice, sticking his diamond-shaped shoe...sandal... footwear into the edge of the crevice, showing how it fit almost perfectly.
"Why? Maybe you'd like to see how I did it?" He asked, raising his leg skyward, leaning back, "On second thought... Maybe I won't dig another crevice, let's just try..." He muttered, folding his leg, before stomping at the ground, as Matadormon released a simple "Hmph!" as his foot embedded itself into the ground. He retracted his leg with similar effort, before shaking some dirt off of it, "Like that, except... You know, slashing instead of stomping."
Suddenly, he batted at his own head, and shaking it, as if to knock some sense into himself, "ANYWAYS, I got sidetracked, again, apologies, now, if I remember correctly, it is..." He pondered, walking around, pacing back and forth, until he just vanished, as though a cloak of invisibility covered him from the front. A moment later, his head emerged from thin air, suspended by nothing, "Hey, you coming?"

Data chuckled. He had met digimon that spent a lot of time lost. Usually they made up for it in other ways, usually be being entertaining. But it also meant that DracNos was smart - he knew his own weaknesses and found a way to make up for it. He decided it might be best continue keeping his guard up around him.
"Funny how that happens sometimes," Alexa said, relaxing as the large digimon engaged in small talk. She was feeling more sure that Matadormon was just a fellow explorer as opposed to a threat. Until Matadormon stomped his foot into the ground, that was. The ground trembeled slightly, and Alexa remembered she was dealing with a digmon with significant power, far more than Data had. "I-I see...."
But the Matadormon shifted quickly between big and imposing to cute and goofy. She found herself smiling as he batted his own head. And then he disappeared. And then his head appeared? Things were very weird here, and it didn't seem to be purely DracNos's doing.
"S-sure." Alexa and Data moved towards the floating head, unsure of what would follow. Would they too, disappear from the world? Maybe that was where Psychemon had ended up - some sort of pocket dimension in the middle of the dark area. Hey, anything was possible, Alexa supposed.

The dark, dreary surroundings vanished, and was replaced by... Light, of all things, the light of sunshine, but the temperature of the area remained low, revealing the bright sun like orb to only supply light, and not warmth. Also, Matadormon had disappeared, replaced by a lone Dracmon, staring at the two, separately, with each eye on his palms. "Well, looks like this place is just as cool as I thought." He remarked, staring at the extravagant festival before him.
Countless miscellaneous virus types walked the streets, wearing colors that are often entirely off from their original clothing, to the right, a Mephistomon strolled by, wearing a reflective vest, and seeming entirely content that way. To the left, a Goblimon strolled by, his club adorned with sparkly jewel studs. Everywhere, confetti flew, music played, and virus digimon seemed to just be enjoying themselves. It seems that they haven't quite noticed the strangers just yet, save for the odd glance from passersby. "Well, then, welcome, friends, to I-Have-No-Clue-What-This-Is!" DracNos said, stretching his arms skyward.

Light. In the dark area. That was rather surprising. That was only the tip of the iceberg, of course. The air was still crisp, though. Alexa found herself shivering. The difference between the atmosphere and it's appearance was jarring. Alexa looked over to Matadormon only to see a small child-like digimon. That was probably one of his lower forms - Alexa still didn't remember all the proper terms yet. She was a bit creeped out by the eye-hands, but tried not to show it.
"I suppose you could call this place cool," Data said as he looked around. Was it some sort of festival? Or a ritual? Either way, he hoped they were allowed in, it looked like a good time. "Let's go check it out," he said, flying forward towards the brightly-colored digimon. Alexa tried to say something to stop him, but he was long gone.
"Well. I guess we're checking it out," Alexa said, and sighed. "After you, DracNos." Perhaps somewhat selfishly, she wanted to virus digimon to be seen first. She'd been accepted in most of the digital world, but she had no idea how these digimon would react to a human coming into their private event.

DracNos spun around, happily obliging the human's wish. He glanced about, the city may not have been all that impressive when compared to human festivals, the very idea of a festival in the dark area was something absurd for most digimon to think of, so it was still impressive. The entire thing had music, but it was much quieter and largely drowned out by the discussion of the passersby digimon, it was apparent that even with whatever field surrounded the area, everyone there seemed to have a sense of calm to them, maybe even a sense of unease, as everyone was very casual, instead of energetic as the surroundings would imply, as if an air of caution haunted the air, despite how bustling the area was. Pretty soon, some digimon had taken notice of the newcomers, as well as the darker clothed virus types. However, they all turned away from the group, purposefully, as if ignoring their presence. “Nice place, but they need to work on their social skills,” DracNos commented, thoughtfully, as he glanced around.

Alexa listened to the music in the background. It was eclectic but nice. She wondered if all digimon music was like this, or if it was just a feature of the festival, or even the dark area. An though it was smaller than other festivals she'd seen and been to in her travels, it was still quaint and nice, or so it seemed from afar. She'd yet to get close enough to really experience it. Well, it would be her first digimon festival. Hopefully it would not be her last.
As the group approached, it appeared the digimon in attendance didn't care for their presence.
"Poor social skills indeed. Though it kind of lLooks like they don't want us around. Maybe we should leave?" Alexa asked, disappoinment apparent in her voice.
"Mighty suspicious. I think we should investigate," Data said, and with that, he flew closer to the closest group of festive digimon. "Hey guys. What's going on here?"

DracNos glanced around, something was a tad bit off, he realized, not just antisocial behavior, but pretending they weren't there, he turned to Alexa, "No, no, I think we should see where this goes..." Even when Data approached him, the inhabitants simply locked shoulders against one another, forming a wall of digimon with the obviously exclusive intent to block Data from interacting with them. The crowd, walking past, started becoming more and more quiet, as they moved, gradually, almost unnoticeable, clearing the street. The music seemed to fade out, as well, as the square became unbearably quiet, and the trio found themselves, quite suddenly, alone, with the sides of the square lined with brightly clothed virus types, some whispering could be heard from either side, as some of the digimon elbowed each other, others showing clear signs of anticipation.
A shadow was cast over the street, as a figure stood, atop the tallest building, resembling the highest flagpole of a circus tent. The figure was unmistakably human, with a pronounced, round head shape, but this changed, as twin wings erupted from it's back, as a booming voice echoed throughout the area, "WHAT'S THIS? IT SEEMS SOME WANDERERS HAVE STUMBLED INTO OUR PARADISE. LET US SEE WHO DARES ENTER... THE CITY OF MIRACLES." it thundered, before leaping from it's perch, it's wings carrying it's weight, as it flew towards the group. As it approached the ground, it swung it's body forward, revealing birdlike talons on it's feet, it's claws extending, as it slammed into the stone street, some distance from the group, it's claws digging into the stone, as it skidded across the ground, before coming to a stop, before the creature looked up, it's piercing, yellow eyes glaring at the trio, as well as the pair of similarly yellow eyes on it's chest, examining the small ensemble.
"Hmm... Two poor souls, too weak to traverse the dark area alone," he said, tragically, staring at the two rookie levels, "and... a human? How fascinating, I suppose that makes you the first of your kind to witness the splendor that is this city, quite the honour, I would think. Well, everyone?" he asked, still shrouded by the glare of the ball of light above, as the digimon along the sides started peeking, as they grabbed at things held before them, focusing on the group, the unknown digimon continued, "AREN'T WE GOING TO WELCOME OUR GUESTS!?" he yelled, pointing to the sky, as the orb of light moved away, revealing the green-clad demon digimon, Murmukusmon, as the digimon along the sides spun around, to face the scene, tossing confetti and streamers around, some firing off poppers, laughing at finally being able to resume their activities, as well as being thrilled to finally being able to interact with the group.
They were swarmed, suddenly, from most sides, from smiling, often fanged faces, each welcoming the newcomers, warmly, many pushing each other aside, intensely fascinated with the human, but Murmukusmon flapped his wings, creating a small wave of wind surrounding the group, "Now, now, don't go and scare off our new friends, everyone! This must be quite overwhelming, I'm sure, for now, allow me to introduce myself, I am Murmukusmon, I have created this paradise with nothing more than my dream, for a safe haven for any who traverse the Dark Area!" He said, formally bowing, before gesturing towards the group, "Don't be shy, now, introduce yourselves, please!" he asked, and DracNos eagerly stepped up, "You can call me DracNos, I thought this place looked neat, so I walked inside." He said, hands on his hips and puffing out his chest, proudly. This warranted some polite applause and some discussion amongst the digimon, but they swiftly calmed themselves, eager to hear more of the strangers.

Data huffed as the party goers seemed to completely ignore him, or worse, completely blocked him out of the festival. He flew back over to Alexa and perched on her shoulder.
"They don't seem the most inviting types," he said.
And then some sort of humanoid digimon appeared over everyone, it's booming voice freezing Alexa in her tracks. Up until then she had been thinking of leaving, seeing as they were in no uncertain terms, unwanted here. And then it got quiet. Much too quiet. Alexa shivered. Suddenly, all attention was on them. So, the booming voice said they were in a city of miracles? It seemed more like a city of doom, for them.
She cringed as the creature's talons ripped up the stone beneath it. She didn't want to be at the business end of those claws. She avoided the creature's gaze.
Data wanted to say something in regards to being 'too weak' to traverse the dark area alone, but the creature had a point - he was there with Alexa and DracNos. Thankfully, they didn't yet know DracNos could at least evolve into perfect level. If things got wild, that could be their saving grace. That is, if DracNos would stay on their side. Data and Alexa had just met the digimon, so they had no idea if he could be trusted yet.
And then the tension popped like a balloon, and all was well again. The digimon were celebrating. Alexa allowed herself to take a breath. Hopefully this meant they weren't in trouble. And now, they were even welcome guests. Alexa took a few steps back as some digimon drew closer, but thankfully the large digimon asked them for some space. Well, guess it was time to introduce themselves. Alexa and Data waited for DracNos, then took their turn.
"I'm Data, I'm a detective. We're looking for a missing digimon. Here's my human partner," he said, waving a wing to Alexa.
Alexa nodded and gave a small curtsy. "I'm Alexa. Nice to meet you all."

Some digimon muttered, some apprehensive, others sounding impressed, at the boldness of the supposed detective, tracking a missing digimon all the way to the Dark Area. the two received some applause, as well, some seemed disappointed that was all, but the others resumed their activities, and moved on. Murmukusmon leaned down, "Oh, you two are just delightful. I must apologize for that little performance we all just took part in, you must remember we are still virus types, we can't resist performing a little bit of mischief here and there. I do hope I didn't scare you too badly." he apologized, chuckling cheerfully. "Anyways, what's this you say of a missing digimon? I would be glad to assist you, please, allow me to escort you to the town square, perhaps we have some files on this friend of yours-please watch those stones, I was a bit clumsy with my landing-If one such as your friend passed by here, it would certainly be known there." He assured them, while warning them of the upturned street his claws left behind.
"Hm?" he mused, glancing towards a coming street. It seemed there was a commotion. A bluemeramon burst through the scene, throwing fire about, "You're all fools! You've forgotten how to defend yourselves!" He yelled, punching at a small platoon of Bakemon chasing him. Murmukusmon's eyes, all four of them, glinted yellow, firing an invisible blast, which immobilized the digimon. Another bakemon turned up at the scene, only this time, it wore a cowboy hat over it's head, a bit too large and covering it's eyes, the ghost digimon extended a purple vine-like material from under it's clothlike material, which promptly wrapped around the perpetrator.
"Soulmon, don't tell me it's happened, again." Murmukusmon sighed, and the Soulmon responded by pushing his hat up, to look the demon lord in the eyes, "So you want me to lie." "No. Just... I just can't believe it was Bluemeramon of all people." He shook his head, before turning to the group. "Terribly sorry, that would be one of my issues, not yours, let us continue to the town square." He said, hurriedly, as DracNos really didn't do much more than just examine the city, jumping from building to building, before staring down the alleyways, examining every inch of the city he could, while keeping up with the group. He wasn't really listening, at all, to the conversation.
