It looked like the Dinohumon hadn't seen anything what a shame, to add to the insult Katsura couldn't just ask "have you seen an assassin recently?" No she had to be more subtle, and thus she made a shrug. "I'm sorry it's my first time and mommy told me not to talk to strangers. Everyone here is nice, right?" Of course, most people who actually knew Katsura would know better but since she was anxious why not use it to her advantage? What Katsura hoped was to be warned about someone, Katsura was barely 5 foot tall and now that she acted like this it made her look rather vulnerable and timid. Back to present:
Katsura was relieved to know that her efforts to engage in small talk was finally paying off and she made sure to come off to Elliott as interested in his story as possible, which wasn't difficult considering that Katsura genuinely loved talking about the digital world. After a while they were back talking about splitting up, Nyao sighed but aside from a pout she just rolled with the decision. Then Nyao turned to Katsura for guidance. Katsura sent a look towards Yuu which Nyao nodded. However rather than directly interrupting Yuu, Katsura found the nearest pillar within earshot and decided to listing in on the conversation with MetalMamemons, Nyao meanwhile kept an eye Yuu trying to analyze her sign language within distance all while pretending to just enjoying herself.

The Hackmon raised a good point. In his short time in the Digital World, Elliot had already been to most places in it. Meanwhile, how many parts of the human world had Elliot been to? Two whole cities? It was a world of difference. "You have a point," Elliot said, smiling placidly. "While I have had many adventures here, I feel that I have already seen most of the land that this world has to offer. Although, perhaps I am not looking everywhere. Where have you been on your travels?"
It wasn't surprising that Hackmon jumped to the conclusion of Luminas. Most holy Digimon seemed all too content to stuff themselves up there in their ivory towers. Surprisingly, though, it was a spot Elliot actually hadn't been to very much. "I cannot say I care much for Luminas," Elliot admitted. "It can be a tad judgmental and stifling at times." Understatement of the year, frankly, but MagnaAngemon was seemingly incapable of expressing overly strong emotions. The thing just radiated an aura of mellow.
That said, Hackmon's joke earned a little chuckle from Elliot. He took a seat next to Hackmon. "Gladly. Many thanks for your offer," he said. "If it helps, I do not bite either. Not that I would be very good at it." Did Elliot just joke in this form? Dang, he really was committing to this party.
Elliot gave the glass a quick look, not wanting to commit to have anything just yet. Frankly, the fact that this Hackmon was already buying him something was a bit worrying, but it could have just been meant as a friendly gesture. "Much appreciated," he said, taking the drink for now and figuring he could always try it later. If the Hackmon got all weird and pushy about it, he'd know it was a bad sign. If not, then no harm in not drinking it, right? It was a win win.
"What brings you here?" he asked, curious both about Hackmon's travels and about any possible hints he could get towards the identity of this killer.

Amsel
What the girl got as soon as she approached the conversation was pretty obvious. Pretty much the only topic where a KingChessmon and a MetalEtemon could find any semblance of common ground.
"I won't repeat myself! The jewelry made by my company is the best of the whole western section of the Digital World, and nothing that a leadhead monkey says will make it any less true!"
Of course, the MetalEtemon just continued laughing those claims off, much to the KingChessmon's annoyment.
"Those third rate jewels aren't anything like the ones my company manufactures! You must be delusional if you think they even stand a chance in the real market! You should just give up before the losses begin to pile up."
A wink followed suit, and Amsel would probably notice how KingChessmon seemed to be figuratively steaming as she approached.
"Actually!" The MetalEtemon quipped as soon the girl was there. "Nobody will complain if a third party decides, right? Come here, girlie. Who do you think is the best jewel-maker, me or that useless chess piece?"
Immediately afterward, The Etemon brought out a magazine seemingly out of thin air, signaling to two pieces of jewelry. Once was a fragile, golden necklace while the other were... a pair of platinum knuckledusters with a monkey design." Katsura
The conversation was, just as expected... business.
"I'm sure both sides can get pretty hefty margins if we work together in this venture. An virgin deposit of Chrome Digizoid could take the competition by storm if it's big enough. We could dominate the market for three years at least!"
["We don't know nothing about this deposit, and it's deep enough that most kinds of reconaissance are bound to be vague at best. Proposing us to get in right now is more or less like spinning a wheel. What guarantees I can at least get my inversion back?"]
"Get your inversion back? If this proves to be as plentiful as it seems, you'll get at least one hundred times your inversion back! Not going to lie, you should take this opportunity while it lasts."
["I see, I see. Is it gonna be... fifty-fifty, then? Or have you already made other... 'partners'?"]
For the first time in the conversation, the Mamemon seemed to be somewhat nervous.
"Well, you see. Given the size of this venture. It might take more than two associates..." Elliot
Hackmon smiled at the angel as he took a seat, apparently pleased with the being's opinion on Luminas. "Yuuup! Not to exactly the place to be if you're of my kind, but it isn't like I'd want to go there if I could, anyway! A rock's more lively, honestly!"
Another gesture to the bartender ended up in another drink being brought, this time for Hackmon himself. "I'm actually the little brother of one in the sea of big shots attending. So... luckily I'm here to just enjoy the party and not to add people to my network of influences or lobby around or whatever digimons and people do in this kind of parties. Aaaaaand, honestly? It's a bit of a relief!"
He made a small pause before adding. "How 'bout you? Have your eyes in business or... in just having a good time?"

Amsel watched as the two Digimon argued, at first she had thought that they hadn't heard her but she was proven wrong when the etemon had pointed her out and presented her with a magazine. Apparent the Digimon were fighting over their business and who made the best jewelry.
Amsel looked closely at the magazine, she gave a cute in inquisitive look as she observed the pieces of jewelry. She looked calm on the outside, but on the inside, she was freaking out. Amsel couldn't decide, on one hand, the neckless was absolutely gorgeous, its dainty look and shine. But the knuckle busters were just as beautiful, in her opinion, they shined and the craftsmanship was incomparable. Honestly, she loved the knuckle busters, but she was playing a role at the moment and she needed to stay in character. With a mental apology to the platinum weapons, she gave an innocent cute smile and pointed at the neckless
"this neckless of course, look at that shine and the craftsmanship, I have never seen such a well made neckless in my life" she gushed cutely over the neckless

Katsura and Nyao listened in on the conversation most of it was just business speak that had very little interest and even less relevance for the duo. It made it rather boring to stay in the shadows and for a brief moment Katsura regretted not posing as a staff member. But then Katsura noticed something that caught her interest, at the subject of collaborators that Mamemon looked nervous. Is he hiding something? Could that mystery friend be the assassin they were looking for? At this early stage of the investigation, any lead counts no matter how little. Now the only problem was how to isolate Mamemon from the group. It was a very uptight place which limited the options for interruptions. Nyao was tempted to use her mind controlling abilities but that wasn't exactly subtle either. So for now they kept an eye on Mamemon, waiting for an opportunity to be alone with him.

As much as Elliot would've liked to explore Luminas more someday, he hadn't exactly heard ringing endorsements from others so far. This was just another one to throw on the pile. "It doesn't sound very fun," Elliot agreed. "I think I would prefer Whitewater any day of the week. I may be biased, though. I prefer the warmth any day of the week." Seriously, even the cold days in Whitewater were more of a crisp, refreshing breeze. Was it any wonder that the city was starting to challenge Terminus' dominance when it was so impossibly pleasant? It was crazy expensive too, though. Even for Yuu and PROFIT's coffers, this was going to be a dent for sure.
That said, Elliot perked up quite a bit as he heard about what he and Hackmon had in common. Even through the stoic features of MagnaAngemon, a bit of excitement showed. "Really? Me too!" Elliot said, the corners of his mouth turning up slightly. "Well, my brother is not here right now. But this is definitely the kind of event I will remember to tell him about when I see him again." It hurt the tiniest bit thinking of Isaac again, but Elliot knew this was just another important step in getting stronger. "What is your brother like?"
While Hackmon may have been a kindred spirit, Elliot knew that he couldn't tell him everything. This mission's secrecy was of utmost importance, after all. "I have been meaning to check Caritas out again for a while," Elliot said, making sure to focus on the "truth" part of half-truths. "The last time that I was here was . . . chaotic. So I was hoping to come here on slightly less hectic terms." Man, he and Colin would be laughing about that one for a long while after.

Amsel
The KingChessmon smiled, satisfied by the answer while the MetalEtemon looked outright living.
"Well, I think you have bad taste, too!" He mumbled, his face red as he stomped his way out of the conversation. All the way through, the Chessmon was smiling in victory.
"That was the correct choice, little lady. That metalhead sure can get annoying when he wants to. By the way, my name is KingChessmon, and this is my wife, QueenChessmon. What are your names? I'd be honored to know the name of somebody with such a fine taste in jewelry."
QueenChessmon just nodded and smiled at the request, even though something about her expression seemed to be a bit... off. For now, it was somewhat vague, but definitely, there was something about it. Katsura
["I don't really think the margins will be as high if this is going to be such a big venture. Also, who are going to be the business partners? There's a fair amount of gentlemen in the industry that I definitely don't want to tangle with."]
For the Mamemon, that was more or less a death knell. He sighed heavily, and stood from his seat.
"I'm going to be the bathroom, but I'll be back. Please, you should reconsider this opportunity. It's an once-in-a-lifetime endeavor!"
Having said that, the digimon left momentarily.
Both Yuu and Kyo exchanged a look, before the latter shrugged. This did seem like fine bait, if she had seen them Elliot
"Oh, definitely! I'd consider Whitewater for my place in the world, if I had one!" The Hackmon laughed heartily, before taking another sip of his drink
He nodded at their common goals in the party, before pointing at what looked like a random direction. In there, there was a group of digimon who was seemingly in a heated debate about... business, probably?
"That's big bro." Her finger was decidedly pointed at a Diaboromon on the left of the group. "He's a good guy, but he can get worked up when protecting the family business. You should get to know him at some point! I'm sure the two of you will get along just fine."
The digimon seemed to be really transparent, and nodded at Elliot's response on what were his plans in this place. After all, he had no reason to be lying, right? "Oh? Had fun the last time you were here? You gotta tell me! How was it? I've heard that pretty strange stuff happens in here every now and then."

Amsel watched as the metal monkey like Digimon stomps away clearly angry, she would have liked those knuckle dusters. Maybe she could arrange something after the ultimate level Digimon calmed down. Ru-Ru stood stock still, however, he made sure to keep his eyes on the angry Digimon in case he lashed out, he had highly doubted he would because of the area they were in but it didn't hurt to at least be a bit cautious. After the other Digimon had stomped away Ru-ru slightly relaxed.
Amsel had turned to the Chessmon and smiled shyly, she performed a curtsy "your to kind chessmon, its an honor to meet you and your lovely wife, my name is Amsel D Rosa, and this is my companion Dorumon" she said in a soft tone and introduced her partner Digimon. Ru-Ru held the proper posture of a butler and politely bowed at the waste. Amsel was not able to notice the odd Queenchessmons look, but her partner just managed to slightly feel that she was off somehow. The Dorumon took note of this and made sure to stay on high alert.

That was their chance to question Mamemon now that he has excused himself to go to the bathroom. Honestly neither Katsura or Nyao cares about whether this was a lie or not. Katsura looked towards her partner, Nyao nodded. Katsura followed after Mamemon under the excuse of needing to pee, she hoped that it wasn't sorted in gender but if that's the case she'd have to wait outside the door and then say "Hello".
Nyao still stood there for a moment, she contemplated going after Mamemon too but doing so was neither subtle or efficient time management considering that they were 2 people. Finally Nyao shrugged, what the heck, you need to take a risk once in a while. Nyao walked up to the group, when she arrived she spoke to Yuu calmly. "Is anything okay?"

"It is definitely a lot more friendly than a lot of other parts of the world," Elliot pointed out. "I mean, it has its own worries, but I have not yet had to worry about freezing. Or being attacked by hostile Digimon in the middle of the day. Just nice weather and great beaches." Seriously, these beaches were unreal! It was the middle of the winter in the human world, and here he was lounging in tropical paradise levels of weather. It was something he had deeply missed during his little sabbatical.
Elliot took a look over at the Digimon Hackmon was motioning to. There was a Diaboromon, but who else was among them? It seemed like quite the eclectic group, and while Hackmon handled a quick introduction he tried to get a sense as to who else was present.
He had to laugh warmly at the rather familiar description of the older brother, though. "Mine is very much the same. Except, rather than business, he is more protective over friends and family," Elliot explained. "He means well, but he really can get a little intense from time to time. Still, it would be my pleasure to get to know your brother better!"
At the mention of Elliot's last visit, Elliot stifled a little laugh. "There was a Gokuwmon that had stolen some gold Digizoid, and was trying to raise some trouble inside here. Thankfully, there was already someone on the case; a human named Colin, and his partners Luke and Bellamy. It was getting really chaotic, though, so my brother and I stepped in to try and help. We almost had the Gokuwmon, but he kicked up a big bar fight and escaped. So we basically had to go all across Caritas to try and catch him, all while calming people down so they didn't tear the place apart. It was one heck of an adventure!
So, what kind of business is your brother in?" Really, with that one question answered, Elliot would be more than happy to meet the Diaboromon!

The conversations would have gone just as they were going, if it weren't for the event that had been somewhat secretly unfolding. From one moment to the next, the otherwise richly illuminated nightclub fell into total darkness.
A collective groan ensued, and not long after, what could either be a pretty booming voice, or someone speaking through a microphone could be heard.
"We're experiencing technical difficulties. The issue should be solved soon enough. We apologize for the inconveniences."
Considering how Caritas would have at the very least a second set of power generators, this was a bit of a weird event. Amsel
"A bit of an unfortunate event, isn't it?" The KingChessmon added, right away. His voice seemed to be relatively calm in the face of what had happened, just like QueenChessmon's.
Almost eerily so. Katsura
It would prove somewhat hard for Yuu to answer in the utter darkness. Luckily, Kyo was with her, already attentive in case anything suspicious happened.
"Guess it isn't anymore." The demoness muttered under her breath. "Be alert." Elliot
Despite the lighthearted tone of the conversation, the Hackmon seemed visibly upset at what was happening. Pretty much not minding the current course of the conversation, he stood up.
"Excuse me. I have some matters I need to tend to. Nice talking to you, though!"

Amsel to say the lest was caught off guard by the sudden plunge into darkness, she was able to resist the need to yell out her displeasure of the room suddenly going dark. Just as she opened her mouth to say something the kingchessmon seemed to have beaten her to the punch, she listened to him as he stated about the situation they were in. Amsel narrowed her eyes in the darkness where she thought the kingchessmon was at, there was something about the way he spoke that set off alarm bells in the young girls head.
She was aware of her partner slightly shifting beside her and felt his paw on her shoulder, he was right here in case they tried anything in this darkness. Amsel galnced to the side where her partner was at, she was unable to see anything but somehow she was able to feel him there. She then looked back in front of her and forced her voice to shack giving off the impression that she was scared" yes, what could have happened I wonder, dear me I hope the lights come back on it unsettles me to be in the dark for too long" she said as she leaned on her partner Digimon, they were both ready to jump to the side if the pair did anything while they were in complete darkness. Of course of the lights came back on it would merely look like the young human girl was close to fainting and was being supported by her butler.

Just as Katsura was prepared to make her move on Mamemon the light went out. It was a shame really, at that point Katsura had found the toilet. She looked around confused about what was happening. She tried to feel around for a bit. "Huh? What's going on. Did I hit a light switch or something?" Then Katsura heard a voice from a microphone, apparently there technically errors. Now Katsura was in panic and she made a scream out loud. In the meantime Nyao was equally confused not helping was Kyo flat out admitting that there was trouble and now she heard Katsura scream. Nyao was immediately highly alert. "Excuse me" Nyao said dismissively as she ran towards Katsura's scream pushing her way through digimon and humans alike to get back to Katsura. Thanks to the scream Nyao would find the right way.

The lights shut down, and Hackmon looked quite upset about it. Frankly, so was Elliot. He was having a really nice conversation, and now something uncharacteristically strange was going to derail it? How lame. Interestingly to Elliot, though, was the way the Hackmon's tone changed. He suddenly went from excitable to all business, now discussing "matters to be attended to." It was curious, but maybe not entirely so. After all, he did say he was part of a family business. A family business that seemed to be getting a little bit oddly heated just before the lights flickered out, too. Weird.
Elliot didn't want to leave the guy totally lost in the dark, though. He quickly unfurled something from his sleeve; a small cudgel that was letting out a soft, subtle glow. It didn't give a ton of light, but it was at least better than the pitch black of the rest of the room. "Just in case it's too dark to do business," he said, holding it out to the Hackmon as an offer. "It should keep glowing for a good while. Hopefully long enough for the lights to come back on.
Nice meeting you, too!"
With that parting gift made, Elliot waited for Hackmon to leave. Once he was out of earshot, he turned on his communicator to try and reach Yuu once more. "What do you know about a Diaboromon that might be here on family business?" he asked, voice a hushed whisper. If there was anyone who seemed especially intel worthy from that little interlude, it was him and his "colleagues."

The atmosphere wouldn't remain in that eerie calm for long, however. Soon afterward, the sound of a gas leak came from the general direction of the main speakers, mostly where the digimon who announced the technical difficulties had been speaking. If it came into contact with anyone present, they wouldn't notice any ill-effects, only that the gas itself was unnaturally damp, almost as if it were vapor. Amsel
"Huh. Wonder if this was planned or not." KingChessmon didn't seem to be surprised what was happening, and wasn't doing anything to address the current situation. "Maybe it'd be for the best if we left, dear? Looks like this party may go sour at any moment now..." Elliot
The Hackmon gave the HolyAngemon a gentle smile, but ultimately refused to accept the gift. "Don't worry. I can see in the dark just fine. I'll take care of this in just a moment."
Having said that, the digimon disappeared into the dark, his direction obviously being the last place where Diaboromon had been seen. Somehow, the communication was currently being subject to a large amount of static, almost as if anything was interfering with it. Elliot's own question seemed to have gone unheard as a couple of words could barely be heard from Kyo's side.
"G...s. B...sement. C...ck ...ut."
