With the threat out of the way and Nyao sated in her blood thirst there wasn't anything that prevented Katsura from following the prompt and use portals. Amsel in particular looked forward to seeing a portal, while RuRu seemed to share Katsura's irritation over this ridiculous situation. Once outside the basement and near the entrance to the nightclub Katsura caught a call from Elliot, whom sounded distressed. Not that Katsura understood such changes in tone and emotional behavior well. Katsura activated her own communicator to send Elliot a reply, aside from speaking on the device in complete monotone Elliot will hear on her voice that Katsura is annoyed and apparently not affected at all by the previous ambush.
"Hi Elliot... we got delayed... someone tried to fight us... so Nyao killed them... We are... Outside.... The club, I think. How do we get to you?"
Katsura released the button to allow Elliot to answer, then Nyao rolled her eyes.
"Katsura, you should probably have used emotion on the phone."
"I know, but after this... I didn't feel like putting the effort."
While waiting for Elliot to answer, Katsura then started paying attention to the surroundings by looking around. Everything was deserted and as result it was calm. This was a relaxing distraction from the basement and it deserved a moment of appreciation.

Elliot sighed in relief as he saw it was just Yuu. Why she would pick such a strange means of communicating, Elliot had no idea. However, he knew she was deaf, so perhaps a note was the safest way of alerting him. There could have been other hostile Digimon in the area, after all, and Elliot trusted Yuu quite a bit. How could Karin, Colin, and especially Mana be wrong?
"Thank goodness," he said, sighing in relief. "I knew you would be able to get to the bottom of this, one way or another. Sorry that we all got caught up on that ambush, but I bet Amsel and Katsura are handling that with ease back there.
You know, you actually have a really nice voi-"
Elliot froze. He could remember Karin making a very obvious point of Yuu favoring JSL over all other languages. In fact, he was fairly certain that Karin specified it was because Yuu was deaf and mute. He could still remember the disappointment on Isaac's face when he had tried to reach out through ASL, only to find that even sign language had a translation barrier. They wouldn't have even had to mess around with that if, all this time, Yuu could have spoken.
He didn't want to believe it was true. He so badly wanted for this mission to just be over already, for none of his friends to be missing or hurt, but he just couldn't accept it. He bit his tongue hard, forcing himself to avoid showing any confusion, fear, or weakness. If it wasn't for MagnaAngemon's perpetual poker face, he would have been doomed.
A ring from his communication device caught Elliot's attention and snapped him out of his daze. "I am on the second floor of the building. The gate lead right back here. I have found Yuu, or rather she found me. You can meet us on the way downstairs," he explained. It was all a lie, yes, but he couldn't let not-Yuu know that he was onto her.
"Right, sorry. It is a mission, so I should keep professional," he said. Was he seriously trying to excuse his brief flash of inspiration as a crush? That was a risky gambit. "Let us go. I will watch the rear to make sure that we are not caught in an ambush. The least I can do is help protect you, after all."
And so, Elliot waited. Isaac would've done a way better job with such improvisation, but Isaac wasn't here, now was he? In his stead, Elliot needed to adapt.
Amsel, Katsura, Nyao & Ru-RuNothing outside of the norm happens outside, partially to not many significant actions being taken. As a thing of note, the exchange between their current position and Elliot's notably clearer than on past attempts. Somehow, the communication is working better.ElliotYuu seemed to be satisfied with the answer she had gotten, smiling brightly at the boy, even though a careful observer could sense that something was... amiss on that expression.
"Good, good." She agreed. "It wasn't easy to solve this whole issue, but at least I could get to the bottom of it. Nice, isn't it?"
She gestured at the room's door, and opening it nonchalantly. "Let's meet the others downstairs. After all, we're trying to exit this place, right?"
Without saying much, she began to exit the room, beginning to descend. As of now, there seemed to be no second intentions to her words. Yet... somehow, that made everything all the fishier.
Well Elliott's response was brief yet informative, apparently their next adventure will take place on the 2nd floor. But while Katsura was ready to go back in, Nyao shook her head by the end of the message.
"I smell bullshit"
Katsura turned around to face Nyao.
"It might be but it's the only lead we have."
"Sigh I get it, either it's a trap and Elliot is in trouble thus needs our help or this is genuine... And he needs our help."
Katsura stared pleading at Nyao who increasingly lost the will to argue against Katsura. By the end Nyao shrugged and sighed overbearingly, you could almost hear Nyao say "give the baby her bottle" as she walked to the door and eventually towards the stairs. In time they'll be ready to meet Elliot and "Yuu" but before entering the door Nyao stopped.
"Katsura, do me a favor and text Yuu that we're arriving."
"Because I say so"
No point of arguing with Nyao Katsura thought, which is why this text message arrived in Yuu's inbox:
"We arrived back into the club. Rdy 2 meet u at first floor. Katsura Ise"

"Very nice," Elliot agreed, keeping his line of communication open so that the others could hear him. "We have spent far too much time here. I was starting to get nervous. But I am glad this nightclub was not able to fool us in the end." He couldn't believe his eyes as he watched "Yuu" walk away. She was actually turning her back on him? Either she was really confident, or she bought right into his misdirection. Who knew which was true? All Elliot knew was that he had one chance to strike, and this was it. He held his finger over the Digivice's Digivolution button, focusing hard and watching a thin band of fractal code dance around his hand. He reached out gingerly with his other hand, slowly guiding the door into a mostly-closed position.
"I cannot wait to wrap this up."
With that signal made, Elliot snapped into motion. He clenched his fist shut, the fractal code around his hand shattering as the cocoon of Digivolution formed around him. He tried to push as much data and energy into him as possible, hoping he could snap right to Sandiramon's familiar form before Yuu even knew what was going on. As soon as he achieved his form he barreled through the door and lunged at the doppelganger. His goal here was to snare her between his coils before she would even know what was going on. He only had one chance at making this ambush work, and after the rest of this mission was in such jeopardy Elliot refused to let his chance slip.
It would all happen in an instant, wouldn't it? Yuu giving her back to Elliot, Elliot seizing the moment to try and squeeze Yuu, and both Nyao and Katsura arriving at the general location of where the action was unfolding.
What would happen would probably throw off anyone looking at it. As Sandiramon's body coiled around Yuu's, the tissue would just collapse under the touch, almost as if met by an unstoppable force. Elliot would sense an amount of flabbiness as Yuu's body gave way to a cloud of purple smoke, not unlike the one that they had faced underground.
The cloud began to extend, obscuring everyone's mission, even though it wasn't restricting anyone's movements, nor anything of the sort.
"Damn... why did you attack like that? Weren't you afraid of injuring a puny human?" An unambiguously mocking voice resonated around the room, reaching even Katsura and Nyao's ears. "Oh well. Let's settle the score."
In an instant, a barrage of bullets was shot in Sandiramon's direction.Combat begins this post.
The first thing Katsura and Nyao saw after entering was Elliot attacking the alleged Yuu. For most this would probably have been a large shocking twist but Nyao just sighed irritated. This was exactly what Nyao expected, another fight apparently this time with a, now cloudy, Yuu imposter.
"Sigh, I knew it. Amsel do me a favor and keep the front door and windows open, I'm not fighting yet another fight in total blindnes. Although."
"No, please no Mervamon."
"Fiiiine, I'll try to find another way around." The duo listened to the voice mocking Elliot for his reluctance to fight a human being. The voice failed to make a lasting impression on either Katsura or Nyao. Because as Nyao puts it.
"A shame I don't have such issues holding me back." Nyao replied to the voice. To make her point, Nyao drew her suddenly glowing sword in a threatening manner. The matter of fact way Nyao talked about her irrelevance to human life, especially the voice, would make it clear to "Yuu" that Nyao had no inner conflict at the idea of killing a human being if she thought it would further her goals. Unfortunately for Elliot, the chance of noticing a gun shooting in total fog is so slim that Nyao didn't have an opportunity to react in time to do anything productive.

"I'm afraid of people getting hurt," Elliot said, quickly unfurling from his coil as he felt not-Yuu practically deflated underneath his coils. He looked around, eyes narrowed, as he tried to make out the source of this mysterious voice. However, it seemed to be resonating out of the room in all directions. There was no way he'd be able to pinpoint its direction. "And I'm not letting you do that. No matter who's face you're stealing."
Maybe if he wasn't so busy looking for his target, he'd notice the barrage of gunfire. It slammed Elliot directly in the side, sending the snake reeling to the side. He coiled up, worriedly checking the spot of the injury. It hurt like hell, but how serious was it? Would he even be able to see the extent of his wounds in this fog?
After a cursory examination, he knew he'd have to suck it up and move on. Quickly Elliot brought his bulk into the corner of the room, coiling up to minimize his exposed surface area. He didn't wait long at all to return fire, a cone of glowing javelins spraying from his mouth. The cone was centered on the direction that the gunfire came from, of course, but his target here was less depth and more breadth. While he didn't speak, his intent was clear: he was waiting for this mysterious threat to show its face.
Even if he had to light up every corner of the room, he'd make sure of that.
Elliot uses his Rain of Pain to try and light up the room, hoping to expose whatever mysterious threat just sniped him.
Rain of Pain: Sandiramon spits javelins of light into the air, which turn to face enemies before raining down on them. Generally used on cornered foes.
This was good; there was no false pretense of friendship anymore; no to keep appearances, and especially... no need to hold back.
While deceit and trickery would have accomplished this small task just as well, the fact that this entity had been discovered so quickly was something that could only be seen as good on its eyes.
Considering its first attack had managed to cause quite a dent on its target, the mysterious, gaseous being was prepared to press its assault, at least until... javelins that apparently were made out of pure light were shot in its direction, promptly hitting and pinning the unlikely enemy on a nearby wall.
"Argh." It cursed silently, trying to break free from the makeshift prison while struggling against its bounds, gunfire spraying in every direction around it. Probably not the best idea to approach, even if the being's position was clear as it could be right now.

(Skipping in line a little, hope y'all don't mind)
Elliot let out a little smile as he heard the sound of lance sticking into the drywall. He honestly hadn't expected his attack to snag the target, but the fact that Sandiramon could pull it off was a great sign. Now all he'd have to do is get close and pull the metaphorical rubber monster mask off of this metaphorical Old Man Jenki-
Or he could be shot at instead. That would be great! After the first barrage of bullets impacted right into his side Elliot hunkered down, whipping his prehensile tail over to the biggest, sturdiest piece of furniture in the room to bring it in front of him as a form of cover. It likely wouldn't hold for long, but every bit of forward movement was better than standing still and getting shot at. He used this form of makeshift cover to advance up, squinting through the smoke in hopes of at least seeing who this unnamed desperado was.
"Come on, put the gun down. Or at least stop shooting it," he asked, briefly wondering if this was a Digimon who could even put its gun down. "If you stop fighting, we'll stop too. Just tell us who you are and why you're here, please." With three Digimon to this Digimon's one, and it being literally pinned down right now, Elliot could only hope it wasn't feeling in a position to negotiate.
Nyao made an annoyed huff, having just prepared her oversized sword only to get sidetracked by a surprisingly effective capture engineered by Elliot.
"Hmpf, I'm glad I could help."
After the shooting attempt on Elliot, the element of surprise had went out of the window and Nyao effortlessly allowed her shield to grow large enough to protect her and Katsura from bullets that now made a rhythmic melody by hitting the shield repeatedly.
Given that Amsel didn't open a window like Nyao wanted, Katsura opened a large lingering portal to outside for the sole purpose of allowing the gas to escape the room though she literally kept her finger on the button, so for "Yuu" to abuse this portal it'd have to somehow outsmart and outspeed Katsura's button pressing skills... And that's on the off chance that it would escape from Elliott's prison.
Having predicted that it probably won't escape anytime soon, Katsura then pointed at the gaseous being with her digidevice and pressed scan. She spent half a minute examining the result. Nyao blocked the bullets with Giga-Shield,
The shield is imperious to bullets due to Godly armor Dominion Blade is currently active Katsura scanned the Yuu imposterGiga-Shield: For up to 3 posts, her shield can grow to almost any size Nyao wants. The shield will never be larger than herself or smaller than her wrist. Cool-down: 2 posts.
Godly armor: (passive ability): Her armor, Olympia and equipment are made almost entirely out of Chrome Digizoid. It is very unlikely she would ever be in a situation where it would break.
Improved Scanner: An improved scanner that subtly displays a Digimon's combat information on your screen. If given a post to clearly scan a Digimon, you learn their name, attribute, type, and family, along with a quick description and two of their signature moves.
By this time, it was obvious that words wouldn't have any effect on this doppelganger; the digimon just grunted, noting at how everyone was either a prisoner of inaction or was slowly coming closer.
"That little spiel won't work, boys. You'll have to try harder~ than that!"
So, two pretty interesting events happened while everyone was taking positions; the first one was that the digimon dashed in the stairs direction, promptly vanishing from sight before Katsura could point her digivice at it. Speaking of which, however! The portal? As soon as the smoke tried to pass through it, sparks would begin to fly about, promptly causing it to malfunction. Katsura's digivice screen would display the following message.
ERROR: FOREIGN BODY DETECTED.
And right after that, it'd shift into static, rendering the device unusable for the time being; maybe if they left the room it'd fix itself? There was only one way to find out.
