This Might Have Been a Mistake [Cion]

"Ah yes. Almost had forgotten about the human world." Cion admitted with a playfully nervous chuckle, realizing that the young man's need for bits in the digital world was probably low. He did not need to afford housing or similar comforts as he could similar return to Earth where he likely had an apartment. Instead, Toki was utilizing the time dilation to find tranquility to relax and study. "Smart move." She credited him, recognizing his efficiency and pragmatism. If other humans had the same idea, explaining the presence of so many? Probably did not matter.
Letting out a little giggle, Vertigo decided to drop the topic of gaming for now and let the two humanoid beings banter by themselves, instead relishing the pleasant sensation of soaring through the air at neck-breaking speeds. As for within its cockpit, the CyberSagitamon found confirmation in Mr. Akiyama approving of her idea to keep on pushing forward instead of submitting to sorrow and regret. "Don't do it for me. Just do it because it's right." She requested, her merry gaze briefly swaying to his scanner and the steadily growing world beneath them. Real good was not solely done to please another, but to bring harmony to wherever possible.
Letting go off the subject of family, her guest instead decided for something cheerful; the origin story of his spirit to be precise. With curiosity she carefully listened to his little tale of which he unfortunately only remembered little. "In the end, you are here to tell the story, so everything had turned out fine. And it appears your control has improved dramatically since then." Cion reasoned, trying to stay optimistic to give Toki a little boost of confidence. There was progress without a doubt, and the sooner he found acceptance in that the earlier he could truly give it his all to ascend in power; unburdened by doubt.
As for opportunities to help her out with, for that she simply had to tilt her head to the dear AceJetmon's control console. "Vertigo? Would you kindly show all currently available tasks outside of P.R.O.F.I.T?" "But of course!" As these words were spoke, a hologram projection appeared between the two voyagers, showing a substantial list of all tasks available. "Recent missions of ElDoradimon, though he is mildly anti-human so I don't recommend those, more corruptions though quite hazardous... eh, just see for yourself." She figured, giving her new friend as much as he needed to pick something of interest.

He nodded "So I have everything I need as far as a living situation goes over there." he said, thankful for that. He grinned when she praised him for his pragmatism. It was definitely one of the more clever things he had done in his life. Getting away from the pressures of a crowded city was a nice bonus as well. For a while, he focused on the silence in the cockpit once more and closed his eyes. After a few meditative breaths, he opened his eyes again.
Vertigo seemed to really enjoy the speed they were going at. Toki figured it was only natural seeing as Vertigo was a jet. "Do it because it's right, huh? I hope I end up doing that...I don't want to do what I think is right only to make things worse..." he rubbed his arm nervously. He shook his head "I can't let that stop me. I won't. If I make a mistake, I learn from it, not dwell on it." he said, mostly to himself as assurance. He has wished he met people like Cion and the others before, though if he did he may not have stumbled upon this world. It seemed sad, that this whole world is relatively unknown in the grand scheme of things as far as the Human World was concerned.
He rubbed the back of his head and blushed a little bit "Yeah, I suppose I am here, huh? Goes to show I'm not one to go down very easily." he laughed nervously. "But ever since I talked with a fellow spirit user, I've felt more connected with my own. He helped me find what I wanted to do here and how to feel the synergy with Turuiemon. Like you, he said that it will come naturally with time and it looks like it has." he certainly seemed pretty confident in himself, but in a way that was still humble.
As Cion showed a list of active jobs going on. Something particular caught his eye "There." he pointed at the mission involving city maintenance at Whitewater "Simple maintenance and material collecting...those are peoples' homes, so I want to help get things in order over there. Maybe help come up with some ways to fortify the defenses from the elements. If ElDoradimon is as mistrustful of humans as you say, I'll keep my distance, though I hope that one day we can see eye to eye." he said, trying to be optimistic about the future. Anyone could change, he thought.

With the topic of reasonable maintenance out of the way, it was time to attend more moral matters. It seemed her words of advice had affected Toki, causing a response that was sincere if double-edged. But she remembered an offer from her friend Brad the Bearmon, and implicit support from her companions at P.R.O.F.I.T. "Indeed. Learning from mistakes is a cardinal virtue. And if you are ever in doubt, turn to your friends and the genuine happiness of those whose lives you have enriched with your goodwill to find validation." Cion recommended kindly, in truth certain that this new, future hero would do just fine.
As for motivation to actually do good, the CyberSagitamon had made Akiyama realize that his very presence here and today showed that he had the strength and endurance it took to become a valiant warrior. "Indeed it does." The vulpine digimon confirmed his idea, delighted by his humble blush on his cheeks. Listening to his continuing explanations, she nodded at times, realizing that her guest already had plenty of valuable guidance that set him on a path of righteousness. It was upon him to walk it, but it appeared he was most proud and determined to do so.
And with the solid hologram projection between them displaying a long list of missions, jobs and other tasks, the spirit wielder now had the perfect opportunity to turn his words and feelings into something concrete. However, he picked something that was rather modest, yet definitely worthwhile regardless. "Yes, he is. Never got where that bigotry came from, but oh well, shouldn't concern us today." She replied calmly as she cast the projection aside, causing it to fizzle into sparks of light that vanished within a second.
By now, the large bastion that was Terminus City and its eternal walls were visible at the horizon beyond the Network Plains. It would not take long before Vertigo, slaphappy to fly as almost always, would reach the harbor in which both planes and ships, digimon or not, resided in. "I've helped out Whitewater as well, one part of which was also the restoration effort. It's noble, and the construction workers are quite a lovely bunch of Ogremons I must say." She told him about her past experiences, confident that it would make his decision to pursue the task at hand even easier.

His heart warmed at her words "I appreciate that more than you know, Cion. There are people I have helped and people I want to help if they would have me. I won't let them down." the smile he gave was the most confident and beaming one he had given so far. He was ready for this, and nothing was going to make him give up on his newfound goals. "I've never felt so...sure of anything. I feel alive in a way I can't even describe."
Her reaction to his humble nature only further brightened his face, but he was grateful for her kind words as usual. Being encouraged like this was good for him. He needed support from a friend like her to give him a little more confidence in his endeavors.
He watched the hologram with the job listings vanish and he returned his gaze to Cion "There are good and bad people, Digimon or human. Maybe there was a particularly bad experience and he just...couldn't let go." he said. It was saddening to think about, but he knew the depths of cruelty and judgement. He certainly wouldn't blame ElDoradimon without knowing a whole story. "However...everyone can change. I'm sure relations will improve one day...it just needs time."
He looked out the window to see that they were just about to land in Terminus City, impressed by the sheer scale of its harbor. "I'll let the Ogremon know I went there on your recommendation. I'm sure they'll be happy to hear that. I'm looking forward to working with them." he said. Though with them landing came the realization that they may have to go their separate ways for the time being "Well...seems like this is where we part ways for now? Cion, is there a way I can contact you in the future?" he asked, hoping the answer would be yes. He wanted to remain in contact with someone who has been such a big help.

"It's resolve, my dear. And I'm happy to see your heart's fire burning so fervent due to it." Cion stated, enchanted by his expression appreciation and his genuine happiness. She savored the joy of others since it brought contentment to her own spirit, and today had truly been a day worth relishing. Not only had she, with the help of Vertigo, saved a young, ambitious man, but also helped him see his path ahead clearly from now on. She could only imagine the future this noble, emerging soul would contribute to for himself and others, but she was confident it would be one of harmony and prosperity. After all, she was doing the same thing.
With winning smiles meeting each other, it was eventually time to stop with the compliments and support as not to inflate their egos too much on this mild Autumn day. A healthy dose of confidence and recognition never hurt, but it mustn't turn into recklessness, and denegation of reality and facts. But they certainly had not reached this point; not by a mile. Still, it was time to utilize Toki's newfound determination for something practical, and one of the many tasks in Whitewater sounded like a perfect start.
"Possible. Indefensible and illogical... but possible." She replied, thinking of the many poor reasons for hating humans she had encountered throughout her lives. Xenophobia, jealousy, purism, social Darwinism, dreams of pure anarchy... in the end, they only led to the suffering of everyone else, and eventually their inevitable destruction. Why there were only so few powerful leaders that actually utilized their power and influence to benefit their subjects was beyond her. If she was one, she'd put every bit into her being to create as idyllic of an utopian society as possible.
"It always takes far more time than it's bearable... unfortunately." She commented quietly as she leaned into her chair, folding her arms as a brief frown overcame her muzzle. She knew from experience how agonizingly slow progress took in the digital world, even small changes requiring centuries if not millennia to become the new standard. Hopefully, for the sake of Mr. Akiyama's sanity, he'd find contentment in small success. Weltschmerz was a harlot, that was for sure.
The vulpine digimon sighed before attempting to calm down again. She had not meant to turn this topic into something saddening, but neither could she just pretend that reality did not exist. But maybe the more bravers like her guest were present and helped out wherever possible, the faster progress could materialize? Argh... she was burdening herself again; she really had to stop doing that. Shaking her head, the armored digimon yawned into her paw and gave herself a long, pleasant stretching. "Goodie. But then make sure you do good work, yes? It's my name on the line after all." She demanded jokingly, certain that the young man would do a fine job, with or without her 'recommendation'.
Rather rapidly, Vertigo lost speed and soon hovered over a landing place in front of a personal hangar in the ginormous dual-harbor he had rented as his living space. Nearby where many other airborne digimons, though none of them compared to the might, grace, speed and radicalness the AceJetmon emanated. And thought the few Blimpmons in their own area were certainly expedient, Cion had preferred something less lonely and more capable in combat. To assure that Vertigo had an otherwise carefree living for as long as they were bound together, 24.000 bits had absolutely been worth it.
As for the question on how to stay in contact, she nodded calmly. "I've got a smartphone with some chat-programs." She answered, pulling out of one of Vertigo's side shelves. "And I have software linking me to the global network systen, so you could contact me as well." The AceJetmon offered, glad to finally have more than a single digimon on his contact list... if Toki had a mobile phone that was.

Resolve. He liked the feeling. It made him feel like he had potential and a goal to work towards. He could not believe how much of an impact this day was having on him. What began as a terrible judgement on his part brought to him a friend he hoped he would have for a long time. The whole experience was so enriching for him. With every new person he met, his desire to help them make the Digital World a better place only increased.
Deep down, however, he knew that overconfidence would only poison his thoughts and lead him to make poor decisions in the future. Never should he approach something with absolute certainty that things will go his way. That's not how it worked. He would need to adjust for anything that could happen, so he calmed himself down and tried to avoid getting too reckless with his future.
He found himself nodding in agreement with Cion "It doesn't excuse anything it might have done to harm people, that's for sure. Humans have the same problem too...we judge on appearances and/or past transgressions...it's a waste of time if you ask me. Every person is different regardless of their background. Just because one person does something doesn't mean an entire people can be treated badly for it..." he sighed, but soon shook his head "We shouldn't worry about it now. It will only bring down the mood. If we continue doing what we do, then that's something to be proud of, right?"
However, he did worry if he was just being ignorant. He knew nothing of the Digital World...could he, an outsider, really hope to accomplish anything worth noting? He clenched his fists. Yes...yes he could. Outsider or not, he, with Turuiemon's help, would do everything in his power. That was not going to change under any circumstance.
He gave a playful salute when she 'demanded' that he put forth the work to live up to her recommendation before chuckling "Will do, will do." he did wonder what these Ogremon were like, however. She seemed to regard them as friendly, so he looked forward to that. Anyone who was willing to help reconstruct a town like that surely had to be at least somewhat nice.
The sudden stop was rather jarring for Toki, but he stretched his legs in the cockpit as he took off the buckles on his seat. He stood up and stretched again, glad to be on his feet. He looked out at the harbor. He hadn't really explored Terminus City that much. Now that he had a reason to he looked forward to seeing what kind of place it was.
Toki carefully placed his backpack on the ground and pulled his phone from it and turned it on. "Alright, let me just get you the information..." Toki would share his contact information with both Cion and Vertigo, feeling better now that the he had connections to the two. "Well...I should be on my way." he would exit Vertigo when the cockpit opened. "Thank you so much for today you two." he bowed to them, a little sad to have to go, but he knew he would see them again. He turned around and waved as he walked away "It was amazing to meet you both! Till next time." he said, walking towards the city proper. Today definitely wasn't a mistake after all.

As she listened to Toki, full of resolve he had sorely lacked before, Cion often nodded, finding the information she received of the human world rather intriguing. So it appeared that her guest's civilization faced similar struggles as the digital one, though on a different scale considering the differences in power. Ultimately, it was upon them and other hearts of righteousness to turn aspects of people like bigotry and greed into cooperation and contentment. "It is, and it might change perspectives in others." She figured, believing that many could be 'enlightened', even ancient ones like ElDoradimon.
But that was of no matter today. Whatever change they wanted to accomplish would not occur today, and certainly not in the near future. That was why for now, they did not submit to their Weltschmerz and instead embraced each other's company and kindness. True bonds of friendship were without a doubt something truly marvelous, and every second the CyberSagitamon had she would treasure and savor it. Giving young Mr. Akiyama, she was glad to know that he vowed to live up to her name once he took on temporary work in Whitewater.
With practically everything said and done, Cion watched how her new companion got up on his feet to rummage through his backpack. Soon, he revealed his mobile phone, and it did not take long before the three of them had shared all of their impersonal data as to stay connected. And with that, it was time for their temporary departure. The AceJetmon would kindly open the cockpit so Toki could climb out of it, hoping he would not hurt his fragile human joints. "Thank you too! Until next time!" Both synthetic digimons would respond in unison, happy to have a new friend who was of similar nature as them.
And as the silhouette of the young spirit wielder vanished inside the harbor-ports main building, Cion let out a quiet sigh while leaning back into her comfortable, black leather seat. Now that the mannered boy was physically gone, what would they even do. Tapping on Vertigo's control console in minor boredom, her ears eventually peaked when she got an idea. "Where did we left of before you detected Toki?" "I think we were sharing our most favorite memes, right?" "Right, right! Shall we continue?" "While playing some HAWX in Co-op?" "Sure, why not?"
