It was jarring.
It hurt.
It stung.
It simply. Was her pain to bear.
K had to breathe it in, understand what had happened. It hurt her the most to learn that the fire had started within her Inn. More specifically at the desk. She hoped with all of her heart that Canton had made it out. That her chefs were okay and just recovering elsewhere. From there the fire had spread, but where she could tell that bits and pieces had been saved from it, others were swallowed whole. Something had started the fire over and over again in other buildings. The entirety of the Gaizimon residence, along with all the other locations. She had found that the Sherrif's office had been more intact. Seeing as it wasn't made simply out of wood. The town hall being the same since it was made of stone.
Her sheer amount of anger had made her change. Made her into something else. It was a form for fighting, it was a form for destruction. It wasn't one of healing, one of skill.. it was one of power. She could feel it in her bones. It was frustrating and invigorating that she held this massive power again.
It was something different than anything else she had.
She ran a armored finger along the remains of her counter top. The sturdy furnishing was reduced to ash in almost an instant. It had just barely held onto that form; a simple touch was all that was needed. She stood up straight and tall; easily able to see out of the wreckage. A sigh and she'd grumble, her voice sounding much deeper than when she was in that shutmon state. Her body was still feminine most certainly; but this form had the wear and tear you'd expect from participating in a war so long ago that most denizens had forgotten it entirely.
"What am I to do? There are simply not enough clues. Even though she had helped."
She had been here for what? A few days at best. The other digimon she had come here with long gone by now; wherever the other had decided to go she hoped they were safe. She set her polearm up straight and gingerly took a seat next to it. She had time to think, even if it was mostly angry thoughts about what to do to those that had done this...
"At least the migraine is gone..."

It wasn't supposed to be like this.
That was the thought that was running through Mikemon's head as he made his way through this village, otherwise forgotten on a far corner of the Eastern Timberlands. He walked past those destroyed homes, the Doctor's eyes flicking over to see nothing but the ruined foundation of the Gazimon's home. Just weeks earlier, he stood on this dirt road, raising a fuss, cussing out the whole town before he tried to save it.
But now, the silence was deafening. Mikemon was used to the city, seeing data signals flow by at every moment. So quickly, this once-antique village turned into a ghost-town, a haunting window carrying a thin trail of smoke.
The foraging supplies he brought to examine the mushrooms, slung on a bag over his shoulder, seemed quite distant from his mind. Idly, he followed the same steps from the station, towards K's inn. It was an impossible hope, of course - surely she would have fled as well? Maybe she just ended up staying in Whitwater? That thought was put on halt, as he saw the mega: a CresGarurumon, armor shining gold as the sun breached through the canopy. Most might have fled at the sight, but Mikemon?
He recognized the signal instantly. "Oh my... K!" He called out, running down the hill towards the inn! The concern for the village was pushed to the side, as he finally found that familiar signal. Soon enough, he'd be standing right inside the foundation of the former inn, the Champion taking a moment to catch his breath.
"K... good to see... you're still standing..." Shaking out his fur, he took a quick look around the 'Renamon's' former residence. This place, where she was ready to live until her natural end, seemed to have evaporated away in an instant. First things first, though, Mikemon's instinct as a doctor kicked in: "Are you alright?"

K was lamenting over the fact that she had lost her home. Lamenting over the fact she hadn't a clue who had done this or why. Her addled thoughts were focusing on the events of the war, but they simply stopped after a point. Was there more that she didn't know? Of course there was and she was going to need to get stronger to get the rest out of the way.
"Maybe there is a survivor in Luminas I can talk to..."
She'd sigh softly and freeze as she heard someone call out her name. She stood up quickly, a massive gauntleted hand going to her pole-arm. However when she saw who it was she relaxed almost immediately. A weary sigh escaped her and she took a seat again. She hadn't expected to see Mikemon again; or at least any time soon.
"I appreciate it. Good to see you too. Even with.. this."
She'd gesture with the hand that wasn't resting on the pole-arm. She felt tired something fierce of course, her anger had started to dissipate. She just wanted to solve this mystery. Without doing so she wouldn't be able to rest in the end.
"I'm fine, I wasn't here when it happened. Even if I was.. I don't think I could of stopped this."
She'd stare down at the mikemon and frown after a few moments.
"....What brings you out here? If you.. don't mind me asking?
She could tell that he was somewhat shaken by the fact the village was gone. She was too, it wasn't hard to believe. She'd bring a gauntleted hand to her head and let out a small exasperated sigh.
"I got so angry at seeing this I... My migraine got worse and I digivolved to this."

The CresGarurumon's defensive posture didn't surprise the Mikemon. After all, out here in this desolate village, both of them would be tense at any sudden movement. Thankfully, the mega didn't try a preemptive strike, K able to at least relax in that form. As K brought it up, the Mikemon gave a nod: "Honestly I'm surprised to see you at such a level, but questions about that can wait. You have any idea what happened, here?"
Nope, she wasn't. It sounded like she just got back to the town, and already found it in that state. The Mikemon was at a loss for words, briefly avoiding her eye contact as she stared down at him. "I came back on an errand to collect soil samples out in the woods, just to get a gauge on how much the Whitecaps were spreading..."
It seemed so irrelevant now, and the emotion in K's shaken voice filled the room. Unlike her, the Mikemon had no personal ties here. For her, this was no less than devastating, and every little thing would get to her -
- ... A migraine? The Mikemon's ear perked up as she described her evolution to mega, and the cat's attention turned to focus on her data. "Evolving by a headache? K... are you saying you can't get down from that form?" The Mikemon's curious tone was laced with concern, the cat half-circling around to look at her front side. After a moment, the cat gave a sigh, and sat across from her. It was hard for the doctor to find the right words to say at a time like this! "Tch... if this happened in Whitewater, I... honestly don't know what I would do. I'd probably lose myself for a bit..."

Another soft sigh and she'd look down at her hands, finding them shaking she'd grumble to herself and then shake her head. What would she have done if it had been a hostile digimon? Would she of been able to fight them off?
"I've been busy. Visited more than my share of places; ended up on the whole other side of the digital world and made my way back home. The only thing I know is that whatever fire that did this started here. More were started shortly after. This wasn't an accident it was premeditated."
She'd rub the side of her muzzle; another soft sigh escaping her lips.
"I know the gaizimon's and once they would of learned of the danger.. well. They likely gave that up but, whatever residue right?"
Her ears ended up laying flat and the other digimon seemed surprised to hear that she had a migraine. Come to think of it, each and everyone of her digivolutions had been like this. She'd blink and look at her hands again; that frown finding itself back onto her lips.
"When.. I evolved the first time. It was to a leomon-x, but shortly after the digivolution I found myself back in my renamon state. A little bit later I got a very bad migraine and found myself in shutmon form. But couldn't or wouldn't de-digivolve. This one though... I think I can undo it... I was just so angry I didn't want to."
She'd let out an exasperated sigh, imagining the same level of control she had before. It wasn't anywhere near as quick but the former innkeeper found herself sitting there in shutmon state again. The frown still present.
"This is as low as I can go without really having to think about it."
Another sigh and she'd stare at the Mikemon.
"This was my home for several hundred years Mikemon; I'm. Angry beyond belief but I'm just so damn tired. I thought it was just my home for a short time when I was.. a renamon. So it hurts more than I thought it would I guess."
Her frown deepened and she'd grit her teeth.
"if this happened in whitewater, there would be hell to pay beyond belief. It's a major city, this is just a backwater town in comparison. Who would even fight for the people lost here?"

Well, it sounded like K had been quite active for the last month or so. To travel around half of the Digital World and evolve from Rookie to Mega was quite the rare sight to see, and yet the Mikemon saw the results before his eyes. But as she described the deliberate nature of the fire, he gave a nod. "If this was caused by a mere accident, half the forest would be up in flames. We'd likely still be fighting the fire."
But if it was deliberate, who was the culprit? That wasn't something that could have been done by a feral Digimon. "... Based on who I know from the village, no local in their right mind would have done it. Addled by the spores, though..." Then again, could he really say the incidents were related? He shook his head, temporarily abandoning this line of thought. More importantly was K's present condition. The way she described it was honestly quite concerning: she could level down from mega, but couldn't go lower than that? Soon enough, the knight in golden armor took the shape of a purple-furred wolf.
To her explanation, the Mikemon nodded: "Headaches are common if Digimon spend too long outside of their 'preferred' state, but you were a Renamon for years before that, right?" If so, he would press on: "The headaches are what really concern me about it. If you'd let me, I'd like to get a better look at your data..."
But could she really focus on that, with the town like this? The Shutmon laid her emotions on the table, and seemed almost a touch annoyed with the feline, in both of his responses. He held out in responding, but to her last question, the Mikemon's response was sharp:
"I would."
It flowed naturally, without a moment of hesitation or uncertainty in his voice. Realizing the bold tone of that comment, he gave a cough, followed by a short breath out. "K, well... if you need a place to stay, my door's open. And if you need to talk, I'm here. Seeing something slip away after so long, well..."
The Mikemon looked down at his glove. "I'm not entirely unfamiliar with that."

"It's likely that it was cultivated carefully, like they made sure not to harm the forest. They would of drawn attention otherwise. They didn't want anyone to find out about it that shouldn't."
She'd frown a bit and rub her head, looking rather tired at the thought. Control was insanely important. There was very little in the way of digimon that she could think of that would of been responsible for a fire like this.
"Even addled by the spores, I doubt they would of had enough control to do this; after you left. I don't think the gaizimon's did anything with those shrooms. I don't think they wanted some kind of back lash. Which getting infected by something like that..."
She'd sigh again leaning back a bit. She looked tired beyond belief; and she'd gently wave her hand basically allowing the mikemon to take a look. What would she say? No? That'd be stupid and she wasn't about to have it be something bad.
"Common if they spend time outside of their preferred state.. Is it common to get one and then digivolve?"
She'd look down at her hands and frown slightly.
"I was a renamon for... Almost a millennia I think? At the very most at least Eight hundred years? My memory is still kind of fuzzy on the dates. But each time I digivolve I get more... Images. Things I didn't recall before... I didn't think I could evolve before, you know that. But.. Something... changed whatever was sealing it. If.. anything was at all."
His answer to her very last question was surprising, it brought an honest smile to her face and she couldn't help but chuckle. She'd move to gently pat his shoulder, though considering their size difference it would just be a pat on the head instead.
"I might need it. I burned a lot of energy up being in that form for so long. Anger got the best of me..."
She'd shake her head slowly.
"I just can't help but wonder now. What did they all think of the renamon inside of that Inn? The fact she never changed.. or the fact she had been there for so long."

Honestly, it was hard to figure out anything about this. Aside from the method of starting the fires internally inside each property, there was little else to go off of. Tracks would have been lost in the flame, and if the culprit was in the town, it was likely they'd take out their own property as well. Motive? Just what could drive someone to want to destroy such a wayward town?
Ultimately, it just seemed better on the mind to not get too caught up in that line of thought. "The reason always seems so obvious in hindsight. Still, from what I've seen - shattered glass and all - most of the town was likely able to evacuate." That was a relief at one point, and honestly, they were going to have to take these small victories.
After all, the Mikemon could honestly help K with her current condition. As the Shutmon further described her headaches, the feline gave a nod, his left hand disappearing into a dark portal. "Its about relief. Eventually, the Digimon will simply become that most 'comfortable' form. Whether its up or down is of little consequence." With that, he drew that ruby sphere into his left hand, idly spinning it around for a moment. K had more to say, after all.
More memories? "Maybe your past selves are having a say in it now?" There was no rush, and soon enough, the Mikemon felt that heavy pat on top of his head. His ears ran flat, the cat giving a small grin. "Heh, careful there. Hand's heavier than you think." And as for what they thought of the Renamon? "Probably the latter. I was surprised to find an inn out here at all. Now... just sit still for a second."
Carefully, the Mikemon held up that orb, in front of K. His eyes focused, straining through the glass like it was a crystal ball, straight through a lens. This wasn't a fortune-teller's trick: right now, he was peering deep, deep into K's data. More than anything, she wanted to check the stability of the form. Was she draining energy, or was it stable? Did anything seem off? Was the core 'off tilt'? It might take a while, but he peered for answers...

K found herself sighing again. The mikemon was right, the distinct lack of people in general meant that they all got away or were digitized. She really hoped the latter wasn't the case. She doubted she could handle the stress of being the ONLY survivor of the entire town. It made her frustrated to say the least to even think that.
"I certainly hope so. I wouldn't want to be the only one that survived this."
She looked surprised however when he indicated that where she currently was was likely the most comfortable for her. It didn't feel that way; she felt out of sorts. Even when there was that brief span of time she was a renamon not too long ago. She noted the ruby Sphere and gave the mikemon a small smile again.
"makes sense I guess. I just... I don't know I don't really think that I've gotten to that comfortable form yet. I could be wrong..."
She'd look at her hands again.
"In comparison this is more comfortable than CresGarurumon. But it still feels... off?"
Past selves? The Shutmon brought a hand up to her head. No there were never any past version of her. It was all her, the whole way through but spread around in such a way. It made her feel old. Ancient even. She shook her head slowly; a look of... surprise etching it's way onto her face.
"Judging by these memories there's never been a past self of me... Which is.. weird to say the least."
She sounded exasperated, beyond belief. She'd give him a small smile at the mention of her hand being heavier than she thought. She didn't really know all the specifics of her form quite yet... but she was certain that she'd get the hang of it eventually.
"I would hope so.. and all right."
She eyed the orb, unsure of exactly what he was looking for.
To the mikemon he would find....
Ancient data in it's entirety. This form was by far the stablest out of all the others. There simply wasn't any drain; it just simply seemed exhausted from the shift from mega. Each layer of data that went deeper and closer to the core was older far far older than the one preceding it. The last layer of data was jumbled in it's entirety, but it was beyond strong. Each layer could be attributed to each form.... Which would make sense that the last layer was slightly jumbled. But this wouldn't be the first time that the digimon had been in any of these states...
And the strangest thing?
Her data was pure. It had never been diluted from a digitization.

The Mikemon was confident enough that K wasn't the only survivor of this fire, so he simply nodded at K's concern. Besides, his primary focus was on K's supposed condition - her current symptoms were already concerning, and if there was something actually wrong, it could be a ticking time bomb just waiting underneath the surface of her data.
The Doctor had to be sure. Mikemon's ear twitched as K explained that she still didn't feel quite comfortable with her current form. "Hm... its possible that you have another path to evolve along, then. Its rare to see a Renamon move through a Virus route, after all." Maybe her natural form was the 'ultimate' on another line? What was more interesting was her comment about her memories, that she remembered everything like they were her own thoughts.
One pat on the head later, and the Mikemon would start his examination. K wouldn't notice much about the orb other than a faint glow. What she would notice was the particular trance that the Mikemon fell into: his pupils refined themselves to narrow slits, as if he was looking at an intense light. He peered through, pushing through layer after layer, for any sign of disturbance. However...
... She seemed stable. The Shutmon form itself, at least, wasn't needlessly draining K's stamina. More impressive, however, was the 'dust' that K's data held, holding small quirks due to the age. Normally, data fell apart and was reprocessed, refreshing itself intermittently. Still, despite its age, everything seemed to be in good-enough shape.
Good enough shape, except for that last troubling layer. "One moment..." And with that, he'd peer through, attempting to make whatever sense he could of that jumbled layer.

K scratched her head a bit and frowned when Mikemon mentioned that it's possible that she had a different branch of digivolution to evolve along. She looked down at her hands and blinked slowly; was such a thing possible? That she held multiple forms? Or perhaps that she already had them and simply didn't know? Perhaps the headaches were signs of her digivolving into the wrong states... She didn't know. She wasn't sure if she wanted to find out.
"Maybe. I don't know.. that.. sounds very odd."
She'd trail off and look up towards the sky for a moment. It wasn't the strangest thing she would of had occur that's for sure. Her adventures in general were always a bit strange and always were making her run into just the right people. She wasn't expecting the trance that the other fell into, but she certainly felt that moving would likely mess up whatever balance his little sphere had.
"All right."
The jumbled layer was something strange, There was a vaccine element. A virus element. And a data element. One was obviously the base, and the strongest of the three. While the other two simply seemed tacked on in comparison. It was like at some point she had absorbed others, they were equally as dusty. The jumbled data however didn't allow to see which was which.
However.
A portion of the data stopped, and a small almost barely noticeable eye stared back at the Mikemon. The pure malice and hatred in the green coloration of it was only there for a split second before the eye vanished entirely.
Elsewhere? There were flutters of what seemed to be red...
Three separate sense of data, one of them inert while the other two seemed active. But it was quite clear that all three of them hadn't been used in quite some time... The data scrambled further and became agitated....
On the surface? K seemed a little uneasy...

Right now, the Mikemon was pressing into K's oldest files.
On the surface, it made sense that this inner shell was quite old. After all, the last few layers were already showing signs of data age and decay - quite normal, if perhaps uncomfortable to stare at. But as he pressed through that last layer, the 'landscape' of K's data seemed to change.
He was viewing a part of her data that K was probably unaware even existed, and honestly, the Mikemon was curious. Data cores this old were quite rare to view, after all. Still, he was able to make sense of what was going on: K had a Vaccine-type core, as well as two smaller cores, blue and red. It seems this 'unaware' part of herself had taken in two other Digimon, though any further detail would be impossible to tell at a glance. Simply peering through, the Mikemon figured he was close to done with his observation...
... But there was something else watching from within. If K was attentive, he'd notice a twitch in the Mikemon's paw, as that eye blinked in-and-out, staring right at the Mikemon from within. The emotion, even from so deep, could be felt by the feline. Slowly, the data started to scramble, his view growing frazzled.
And immediately after, the Mikemon gave a blink, shaking his head. "Ugh... its been a while since I've dug that deep..." The feline swore under his breath, holding up a paw to ask for a moment as he rubbed his sinuses. With a groan, he'd proceed to his diagnosis:
"Where to start... ugh. There's no risk for you staying as a Shutmon. Your data's remarkably stable, actually - and, if you don't mind me saying, its quite 'antique'."
Yes, K's data set was old. It was as if she was never reborn anew. But it was clear, by the Mikemon's tone, that there was more to it: "At some point, you absorbed another Digimon's data as your own. Two, in fact. And whatever it was, well, it was strong enough to keep its presence." Mikemon was not the type to hide important information from a patient: his current tone was level and calm, enough to express that it was quite important for K to listen. "And whatever those Digimon were, well, they were strong enough to keep some form of sentience in that form. They..." The cat shuddered. "Were watching me. And even trying to hide from my eye..."

K couldn't help but wonder what the other digimon had found, she noticed the twitch from his paw and she couldn't help but worry. Was it something bad? Was her data somehow corrupt? She'd hesitate and want to reach forward but messing with him while he was doing this.. likely would be bad.
"I'm going to guess you don't have to that often?"
She'd quirk a brow and rub her muzzle looking a bit shocked at being told she was stable. As well as being antique; she looked down at her hands with a mix of bemused expression and that of someone who wasn't really sure what to think about being called 'antique'.
"Antique? What do you mean?"
Then came more knowledge, of what he had found. She froze and looked like she had seen a ghost. She looked back down at her hands, wondering if maybe these two digimon had affected her line somehow? She shook her head and scratched behind her ear. She looked nervous; she didn't like the thought of taking in someone else's data.
"....Two digimon, both strong enough to keep their own presence.. But.. That's ... How deep were they? Can you look again?"
Then the next bit came and K paled further, looking down at her hands again. She had quite a large amount of memories to sift through but.. In all her time she couldn't recall a single moment where she would of done something like absorbing a digimon much less two. When the Mikemon shuddered and mentioned that they were watching him K nervously ran a hand through her fur.
"That's... That's something I've never heard of. Much less.. That's just beyond anything I would even think about."
She'd admit plainly and lean forward to rest her head against one of her hands. She looked rather shaken; it wasn't every day you were basically told you were a monster...
"You're not supposed to absorb digimon... a law was passed about it so long ago that.. well... Why would I do that?"

Well, it was certainly an ordeal. Once the Mikemon finally managed to collect himself, he gave a sigh, dropping that ash-covered ruby orb back into the dark portal. "Well, I rarely even have a chance to look that deep. Overall, though, its a routine thing for me to do."
But of course, there would be questions as he explained his diagnosis, the first asking about that word: 'Antique'. "Simply put, old. I couldn't find any evidence that you've ever digitized in your existence. No 'seams', no 'patches', just a pure data core." It didn't really mean anything one way or the other, by itself, but it was certainly a bizarre sight to see.
This would easily flow into his next explanation: those two strange cores that were embedded so deep in her data. As for how deep? "I would say about a fourth of a layer from the central core, though it was hard to tell. And as for what species, I wouldn't have a clue with what I'm able to do out here."
None of that compared to the Mikemon's last point, though. On him being watched, K seemed quite nervous, her own tone suggesting that she was quite scared of what was inside of her core. To that note, the Mikemon gave a sigh outwards. "More than likely, the presence of those two cores stirred your change in 'neutral state'. Whenever you first Digivolved, you must have drawn power from one of those long-forgotten cores. The shift in data would cause headaches, dizziness, and a change in your 'type'."
Actually, something clicked! "In fact, I would guess that you're most comfortable as a Shutmon not because you're at an Ultimate level, but because its a Virus attribute. You still feel off-balance because you're at too high a level, but your data has decided that its better to be a 'Virus at the wrong level' than a 'Vaccine at the right level'."
Right now, that made the most sense to him, but K was still unsure. Why would she even do something like that? "Well, your data is older than those laws, but I wouldn't know if you don't. At any rate, I do want to get a better look at your data. Just..."
He looked back around, at the ashen, destroyed town. "... Maybe back in Whitewater. In your case, I would like to be more precise in my diagnosis. But if you want, we can go there straight away."

K would scratch her head, watching the mikemon curiously. She was very curious about that dark portal and she leaned back just a bit. Almost enough to touch the counter-top.
"Interesting. I'll.. I'll have to remember that. Perhaps if something is amiss with someone and I can't figure it out I might deign to bring them to you for it."
She flicked her ear and run her hand through her fur again. It felt wierd in comparison to how it felt earlier this week. Like it was rigid in comparison to what she was used to.
"that's... very strange but.. I suppose that makes sense... Just wonder why I didn't..."
She didn't look too disturbed by the fact but she certainly wasn't entirely happy with everything. There were many problems that she couldn't deal with, she wasn't even sure how she'd deal with being old or having.. well. These things attached to her.
"Fourth layer... That'd put them deeper than the mega form I was in earlier right? What color was the central core?"
She tilted her head and she'd furrow her brow slightly. She had never gotten to see that deep, in fact the last time she had ever had a glimpse of her core was in a fevered dream when she was young. But she had figured it was.. nothing major.
"That makes sense, but why from those cores and not my natural one?"
There would be that small pause and she'd get a grin as the Mikemon explained about the virus and vaccine level bits. She'd dip her head in a nod and she'd stroke her muzzle thoughtfully.
"So overall It's most comfortable with this form so far.. I can't help but wonder what form will be the most comfortable. I just.. hope it doesn't change me as a person entirely. I've seen some digimon have their personalities vary from digivolution to digivolution."
She'd sigh softly and stare at him; when he mentioned that her data was older than those laws she'd laugh.
"I suppose so, it's kind of funny to think that way... I just.. Are there any digimon around as old as me? Or older? I wouldn't think myself to be so but it's very strange to learn this you know?
She'd scratch her head once more and then blink when he mentioned that he wanted to get a better look at her data. She'd reach out and gently pat his head again.
"We can go right away, I don't want to put this off. If you think something is amiss I'd want to know instead. In this form I can.. kind of fly so we don't need to take a train. Not that I want to take one.."
