Round 1: Rule of Cool [Dante vs. Coolmon]
|
Post by Dante on Feb 20, 2018 6:41:56 GMT
As Stingmon rants and raves while disoriented from the wave, Coolmon responds with some trash talk of her own.
"Self-condemnation? Or was it health supplication?"
Stingmon's Plasma Ball wasn't a direct hit, but it did do some damage, and also sent Coolmon flying towards the King of Sting. Stingmon stands there, disoriented, as Coolmon goes for her Blaster Punch. Stingmon takes a direct hit in the chest, digging into the ground with his feet, as he's knocked back a couple yards. Stingmon's knees buckle, and he collapses face first to the ground.
Dante's friends in the crowd are concerned. Judith worries if Stingmon will be okay. Dante wonders if Stingmon has reached his limit.
"Is it over? With his Nightmare Armor activated, he should be able to take a few hits."
Stingmon lays on the ground. However, he slowly lifts himself up, crawling towards Coolmon.
"Argh, this isn't over! You hit pretty hard, but you can punch a tank all you want, and that doesn't make you a rocket launcher." "What's he rambling about?"
Stingmon collapses again in front of Coolmon. His left leg twitches for a moment. His energy cannon makes a powering down noise. Just when all hope seems lost for the stinger, he reaches up and attempts to grab onto one of Coolmon's legs. Stingmon rolls over onto his back, and tugging on Coolmon he lifts his feet off the ground and goes to kick Coolmon with both his feet. If successful, while still holding on to Coolmon's leg, his wings start to flap and he takes off into the sky. Had Stingmon been overselling his injuries? In the air, he would have a definite advantage. Will his gambit be successful, or will Coolmon counter, resulting in them staying on the ground? ___________________

Coolmon's little maneuver did work! To some extent! But it didn't work -enough,- if that were an apt choice of words. Stingmon had been downed, and all that was left to make sure he stayed down! ...For a bit. Punching a tank?
"...It's...It's not being a rocket launcher, pal. It's being the rocket. That which can...pierce metal. That which...pierces the heavens."
...Holy slag this was getting really corny. They were -both- rambling at this point, as Coolmon slowly approached Stingmon, ready to let loose another Buster Punch. Keep this in mind.
She was just about to let it loose when...!
Stingmon might have played her. See, suddenly! The bugboi grabbed Coolmon by the leg, and went for the double kick. At that moment, Coolmon instinctively lunged to try landing the aforementioned Buster Punch! The real question was if it would work or if Stingmon would be able to get them off the ground.
This was likely due to be a nail-biter of a match!
Here's where Bass remembers to list his darn cooldowns since he forgot them last time. At the bottom.
So, firstly, Stingmon's kick works, but Coolmon attempts to counter with a Buster Punch before she gets carried off. Whether or not this is successful is up to a LOT of things.
Pep Talk's not on Cooldown anymore. Faerie Barrier's cooldown ends this turn. Hypersonic Wave has 1 post remaining on it's cooldown.

For Stingmon's sake, his ruse had better pay off. After grabbing onto Coolmon's legs, Stingmon manages to land a stiff upside down dropkick. However, as he goes to carry Coolmon up into the sky, she lands another Buster Punch. Stingmon lets go of Coolmon's leg around 10 feet off the ground, low enough that she should be able to land safely enough. Stingmon stops himself in midair and looks down.
"Drat. I was hoping to catch you off guard and win the fight here and now. Only my energy spike can pierce the heavens, because I put the spaceship fuel in the rocket ship, and my tanks can swim faster than rhinos!"
It sounds like Stingmon's brain might have rattled around a little too much during the fight. Even Dante had never heard him this incomprehensible. While mentally Stingmon was less than okay, due to his Nightmare Armor he was still in the fight. Hovering in the air above Coolmon, Stingmon rotates upside down and aims his energy cannon down. The King of Sting fires a Moon Cannon straight down. After firing the blast, Stingmon continues rotating backwards and steadies himself in midair. While high enough to avoid melee attacks, he wouldn't be able to dodge as quickly until he either lands or builds up speed. ___________________

"But a rocket ship normally has a blunt end so you can't really pierce the heavens with that whereas with a fist you can PUNCH the heavens!" Coolmon shouted as she landed on her back! OOF.
As she got up, she looked up at Stingmon. Man...She felt beat. She was sure Stingmon did, too. But...This was a fight. She felt like Stingmon'd want to see this to the end. She felt like she did too.
This might've been the coolest fight of her life. Like, cooler than the Sealsdramon that didn't wish to be forgotten.
Digging her heels in deep, Coolmon threw her hands outwards to project another Faerie Barrier as Stingmon fired his Moon Cannon!
Just like the last attack that hit this shield, this one hit too, but!
There isn't ambiguity when it comes to durability this time. The plus twenty five percentage difference in damage causes Coolmon's barrier to take the attack...And, as it's reflective properties actually take hold, bounce it back!
Unfortunately that causes the barrier to shatter.
"...I need an opening to power up here..." She murmurs...
So, Coolmon uses Faerie Barrier again.
Faerie Barrier: Coolmon’s best move in this form is to form a barrier in front of her and two allies. This barrier is like a wall. A wall to bounce attacks back with. Unfortunately this only works for certain with Rookies. With Champion levels, it’s a 50/50 chance. With Ultimate? The shield can tank a single hit before breaking. Above? You’re screwed. 3 post cooldown. The barrier itself lasts for as long as Coolmon can hold it up, which is a post.
That cooldown starts. Also she bounced the cannon blast back. WHOOP!
Hypersonic Wave's cooldown ends this turn.

This battle had nearly reached the breaking point. Tension heats up as the combatants talk about... the aerodynamics of a rocket ship? Odd. In truth, these two Digimon matched up well, but in the end there can only be one winner. Stingmon's Moon Cannon bounces off Coolmon's Faerie Barrier, causing it to shatter and sending the blast back up. Stingmon is caught by the edge of the blast, and lands back down on the ground. The King of Sting examines his energy cannon, then his energy spike, but his energy seems to be running low at the moment.
"Hmm, this has definitely been a fun battle. I'm all for action and explosions, but I'm also about challenging myself while in this form. I'd like to think that I found the right challenge here today. But I'm starting to get hungry, and we still need a winner. Let's settle this like humans do, and bash each other's brains out."
Stingmon slowly walks towards Coolmon, his shell sporting dings and scratches from the battle. Stingmon raises his hands up, and starts unloading a series of punches towards Coolmon.
"That's right, give it all you've got left, Stingmon! Go for the knockout." ______________________
Stingmon takes damage from his reflected Moon Cannon. The increased damage Moon Cannon deals is canceled out by his Nightmare Armor, and it isn't a direct hit. Stingmon attacks Coolmon with a flurry of punches.
Cooldowns: Nightmare Armor (Duration + 0/3) Plasma Ball (3/4) Moon Cannon (1/1)
Effects: Nightmare Armor: Can only be used on self. Havokmon channels dark energy into their armor. Reduces incoming damage by 25% for 6 posts. 3 post cooldown. (Duration: 4/6)
Energy Deficit: Stingmon is running low on energy, and is unable to charge his primary weapons for attack this round.

Yes, an ending was coming close! Coolmon grinned as her gambit worked and her barrier dissipated. "Yeah! I think this has been one of, if not the coolest fights I've ever gotten the chance to be a part of, so kudos to you for that, pal!"
Coolmon clenched her knuckles. Aw, man, this is the legendary anime fistfight. She'd start towards Stingmon, before she'd break out into a run. As the mon's series of punches began, Coolmon would retort with her own, taking and giving in kind! WHAM! BAM! POW!
...None of these were even Buster Punches. Also, for dramatic effect, Coolmon gave in to an urge to go "ORAORAORAORAORAORAORA!"
Coolmon engages the Stingmon, mother hecker. Going blow for blow and taking and giving! I dunno how we're gonna settle this from here but man it's been a fun fight.
Only thing on Cooldown is Faerie Barrier.

One thing was for sure, this battle has been an entertaining one. The two combatants had taken each other to their limits. Stingmon and Coolmon trade punches back and forth. The crowd starts to get wild, chanting loudly for both of them.
"Let's go Coolmon!" "King of Sting!"
Dante is impressed with their opponent. There would be no easy matchups in this tournament. If they were even going to make it past the first round, they were going to have to earn it. Dante is also happy for Stingmon, glad that his partner got to face a real challenge. While Stingmon's higher forms were often more cruel or vicious, Stingmon was noticeably the most driven fighter, determined to battle until he was rendered unable to continue.
As they trade blows, one punch in particular connects with Stingmon's face, rocking him a little too hard. Stingmon takes a step back, catching his breath for a quick moment. He feels his primary weapons charge up and come back online. In one last desperate attempt, Stingmon lunges towards Coolmon, and goes to pierce the Master of the Buster Punch with a Spiking Strike. At such close range, dodging would be very difficult. Would this attack be enough to grasp victory, or would Stingmon reach his limit, and come up short? If it were not for his Nightmare Armor, he might not have the stamina to continue by now. Both Digimon were more than a little banged up from the battle, and as much as Dante wants to win, he doesn't want to see Stingmon seriously injured for the sake of glory in the arena. It might come time to throw in the towel pretty soon if Stingmon takes much more damage, or his Nightmare Armor powers down. ____________________
Spiking Strike: Lunges toward target and stabs them with spike.

The crowd really was going wild. The Lekismon within the audience simply gave a nod of approval as the fight seemed to be reaching it's inevitable end. To her, her child had mastered the move she had passed down. And that's what mattered.
As Coolmon landed that one blow that hit Stingmon right in the face...She too was blown back. Adrenaline was flowing through her, like the DNA of the soul! Clenching her fist, she'd charge right at Stingmon, readying a Buster Punch but not noticing he was readying a Spiking Strike until....
...Shnk.
Stingmon's spike actually hit it's mark, yet Coolmon's fist was still a problem! If he could get her off of him in time, sure, he might actually have this in the bag! But the fist! THE FIST!
BLUNT FORCE!
SHNK! Local Coolmon gets shanked!
Coolmon tries using Buster Punch but who knows how that'll go?
Also sorry for the wait.
Fairy Barrier's still on cooldown.

This was it. Both combatants are exhausted. The fans have gotten a good show, but there can be only one, at least according to some movies. With all his might, Stingmon thrusts his energy spike towards Coolmon, piercing her through the chest. However, he leaves himself open for a counterattack. Coolmon connects with another devastating Buster Punch, hitting Stingmon right in the jaw.
Stingmon staggers a bit. His energy spike is slowly removed from Coolomon, and his arm goes limp. The King of Sting's legs buckle, and Stingmon falls backwards. His energy has almost been depleted. As he lays there on the ground, his Nightmare Armor starts powering down.
"Ha...ha... this has been quite the battle. I've finally met my match. But, I will not give up. D-Dante... I have a plan."
Stingmon struggles to raise his arm, and uses Infestation. An insect carrying a seed flies out, and circles around Coolmon. Stingmon's arm drops to the ground, and his Nightmare Armor powers down. His body reverts back to its regular color scheme, the dents and bruises more noticeable. The insect flies around, distracting Coolmon, but then it flies right towards Dante, and lodges the seed into his neck. Dante's muscles tighten, and he puts his hand over his neck. He feels his energy leaving him, as the seed transfers energy to Stingmon. _____________________
Infestation: Launches a seed into target. Seed drains target's health every post and transfers it to user. Lasts 5 posts. Cooldown 3 posts. Rookie and lower, 100% regular damage. Champion, 50% regular. Ultimate and higher, 25% regular damage.
Cooldowns:
Nightmare Armor (Duration + 0/3) Infestation (Duration + 0/3)
Effects:
Nightmare Armor: Can only be used on self. Havokmon channels dark energy into their armor. Reduces incoming damage by 25% for 6 posts. 3 post cooldown. (Duration: 6/6) Deactivated

Was it ending? Was it almost done? Coolmon felt beat. "...I gotta say...This was the...best fight of my life. I think...I already said that." But maybe it was time to actually put an end to this.
Coolmon had a plan. A haphazard plan but one nonetheless. She could power up and keep hitting Stingmon with all she's got...Or...She could scream.
Maybe a disoriented opponent was better. But, then Stingmon did something! He shot...A bug! At Coolmo--Wait, did it just fly around do a u-turn then go for the tamer? Wha...?
...Coolmon raised a finger.
"...Hey, Sting...is that even legal?"
It was a genuine question and she felt like there was something behind this but...yeah.
...Regardless of the answer...
Coolmon inhaled before letting out her Hypersonic Wave! REEEEEE!
Hypersonic Wave: Coolmon retains her screaming ability from Rookie form. But, it has a twist to it! Coolmon’s screech can now disorient rookies for three, champion levels for two turns, and those above for one! There’s a two post cooldown for this. Disorient here means leaving the ears ringing. Which isn't very conducive in a fight. Allies are mysteriously unaffected if they so wish.
...She's also really confused right now.

As Stingmon made his move, there was confusion from the crowd. Obviously that was not going to go down well.
"And Stingmon has attacked his own tamer!" Bellamy the commentator stated. "Is that legal, Luke?"
"No, Bells... the rules state that you're not allowed to involve your Tamer at all in combat this tournament unless they're spirits or biomerging!" Luke stated. "So in effect, what Stingmon did was not a legal move and is therefore nullified!"
No attacking your tamer, Dante, that's a foul. Another breaking of the rules and I'm afraid that will be a disqualification.

Just when it seems like Stingmon has stumbled upon the key to victory, the commentators speak up. Stingmon and Dante have broken the rules by involving Dante in the technique. Stingmon struggles to breath, trying to understand what has happened.
"What the? I didn't tell my insect to fly towards Dante. Tamers and Digimon are linked anyways."
Dante pinches the seed and removes it from his neck. Stingmon doesn't receive any healing. Coolmon activates the Hypersonic Wave again, causing Stingmon to become distressed.
"Bah! I can't take this again."
With all his remaining energy, Stingmon rises up and flies into the sky, attempting to escape the sound. He doesn't get far, before the King of Sting runs out of energy, and plummets down to the ring below.
"Stingmon!!!"
Stingmon lays face down on the ground, covered in bruises. He reverts down to his Rookie form. Dante rushes out and tends to the injured Worm King.
"Wormmon... are you going to be alright?" "D-D-Dante... I gave it everything I had." "I know, little buddy. What matters now is that we get you rested. it's just one battle."
Dante picks up Wormmon, turns to Coolmon, and bows in respect. The King has fallen. Wormmon must now recover from his injuries, but it will be a long time until his ego recovers from this loss. But there will be other battles to fight, new foes to face, epic challenges to overcome. The crow watching the fight from afar takes their leave, flying off into the city.
