AEGIS Grand Opening [Agents]
|

Perhaps this was an odd place for such an event. The opening of the headquarters that deals with security of Tokyo from digimon threats would surely not take place where thousands of humans were going about their daily lives, right? Just in front of the Shibuya Train Station too, the point of origin for most digimon arrivals to Earth. Surely this would be a rather risky spot? Well, the location was chosen for exactly that - its proximity to the train station. And right now it had dozens of cameras and equipment pointed straight at it, relaying information and looking for any signs of digimon. This would now be a constant thing. If a digimon entered or exited the station, holosuited or not, AEGIS would know. But that was not the only function of the new headquarters. It and many more functions would be revealed in time. And so, waiting by the secure, inconspicuous entrance, AEGIS leader Sophie James and her holosuited partner Lantis the Leomon were standing by, waiting for their fellow agents to arrive in what would be their new base of operations. She was very excited to finally be able to operate at full capacity like this. And while there were only seven official agents, well, it wasn't completely secret. After all, a four storey building required staffing after all, and she had managed to find several dozen support staff - cleaners, office workers, phone operators, internet monitors, all now employees of AEGIS, even if none of them were very familiar with digimon. Well, that would change. Sophie had introduced each and every one of them to Lantis in his base rookie form, and they had responded well. They knew what they were doing here. So then, all there was to do now was the grand opening. Sophie had invited all available AEGIS agents to this opening, as well as several guests such as K the Shutmon. Unfortunately her brother Colin and his twins were not available, neither was her friend Tadao and his partner, but that was alright, they could visit another time. And she looked forward to giving everyone a tour of their new facility. John Davis Satoshi Himura yuuki @k tridoriyaku Alexa and Data

The last time that K, Sophie and lantis had met they had explained quite a bit about the human world. It's laws and general rules of thumb for being here; along with explaining what the overall purpose of Aegis was. While she initially was skeptical of such a group she was quick to warm up to the idea of having some form of regulation on digimon that would come and go.
After all, if they could cause problems in the digital world they could make twice as much of a mess in the human one couldn't they? It would behoove some of the more sensible digimon or humans to assist this 'minor' government related organization.
When she received the invitation from sophie to head to the grand opening of Aegis she could almost feel her eyebrows shoot up in response to such a dramatic change to things. How long was she actually expecting it to take Aegis to get up and running?
She honestly didn't know the answer to that.
She really didn't want to think about it in that sort of light, seemed far too negative for her even with all the things that had been happening to her as of late. With a small snort she'd roll the invitation up and stick it in one of her pockets.
The disguised digimon made her way to the Shibuya train station, or at least rather close to it. The location of the new headquarters after all was really easy to spot; at least for the digimon. She knew what Sophie looked like and was able to immediately pick out where she was standing. Though she didn't immediately recognize the person standing next to her. When she eventually got close enough it was easy for one digimon to somewhat figure out another.
"Looks fairly proper, professional and not too overbearing. Good job on keeping it fairly in line with the other human buildings. If I was a passer by I wouldn't think twice about this place."
The digimon scanned the side of the headquarters and found herself grinning just a little bit.
"Tis good seeing the both of you again, Hopefully getting this up and running hasn't kept you too busy?"

Yaku hated his tiny apartment. Whoever thought and made the tiny crawlspace sized hole in the wall hotel needed to be drug out into the street and shot. He bet the other patrons felt the same way, but he technically had the government power to do it, or at least, he used to. But soon he wouldn't need to do that. He'd be able to move out into the Aegis barracks or one of the safehouses, and he wouldn't need to worry about trying to get out of a school cubby every morning or hitting his head in his sleep. Always in the middle of his best dreams too... He crawled out of his apartment, tossing his money to the far end of the hole and shutting the door. His landlord would give him Hell, but what did he care. If the landlord cared about rent that much he wouldn't make him live in Miyagoni Fault. He hopes the guy gets stuck... man, that whole rant wasn't like him. He must've had a bad sleep. He cricked his neck back into place and headed off to the grand opening, having looked forward to this since he joined Aegis.
The trip to Aegis was uneventful. He stopped by a restaurant for a hotcake breakfast and warm tea, saw a guy fall down while walking his dog, and watched a billboard get covered up with another. By the time he got to AEGIS' new HQ, he was one of the first there, he did find himself slightly shocked that he was only second however. He approached K from behind, looking him over.
"Hello Sophie." He said suddenly before bowing. "I'm ready for work." He turned to K and smiled, bowing again. "This must be one of my coworkers then? I'm Agent Tridori Yaku."

"So," a voice called out, "this is the new AEGIS HQ." Those who would turn to look, or whoever recognized the voice, would see a young adult and a Shikoku dog approaching the others with hands in his pockets. It was John Davis, one of the founding members of the protection and reconnaissance squad. With a friendly wave hello, the man decided to introduce himself.
"Hello, everyone. My name's John. And this here is my partner, Casimeir." The human gestured to the dog, who was sitting on his haunches now with a friendly expression.
"Nice to meet you," the dog spoke. "And no, I'm not a talking dog. This is my holosuit form. I'm normally an Agumon!"
John chuckled quietly to the slightly humorous introduction. "This is a great place you have here, Sophie. Not too far from the train station, and hidden in plain sight. I can't wait to get started. Satoshi and I already agreed that we will be moving into the living quarters. Is that alright?"
The partnered human and the disguised Digimon eyes K, now. "Well, look who it is. How's the Digital World been treating you, K?"
Casimeir waved a paw at her in greeting. "We haven't seen you since our last mission together. We hope you're doing well."

Sophie recognized K from her holosuit. She smiled and waved to the holosuited Shutmon, glad that she could make it to this occasion. "Hi there, K. Good to see you again" she said. "And yes... it's been a bit of a challenge, but, we got there".
A bit of a challenge was an understatement. Constructing such a high tech place in front of a public place was a huge challenge. However, with some carefully placed tarpaulins, decently compensated businesses, and a lot of clout by Sophie's well connected grandmother had made AEGIS a reality. No longer would they have to hide in the station, they were here as a legitimate organization. This would have not happened at all if it weren't for Emiko James, but, in her own words, once her husband and Sophie's grandfather had died when Sophie was one year old, she decided to spend her widow years getting on with life. And she found the business and socialite life of Tokyo simply... fun.
"And besides, my grandchildren have somehow landed themselves with partner digimon, so what better way to use them than to protect our city?" she had reasoned. And thus AEGIS had received its backing.
Shaken from her thoughts, Sophie then turned to Yaku. Thus, Sophie would introduce them. "Hi, Yaku, glad you could make it. Yaku, this is K, she's an independent digimon that's volunteered to work with us as a digimon liason agent. K, this is Yaku, he's a former DATS agent that's joined us to help out".
And then another familiar face arrived. "Ah, John! Hi there, it's been a while" Sophie said, not seeing him and Casameir since they first opened the branch in the train station. She was glad he was on board. Lantis meanwhile tried not to laugh at Casameir's holosuit. It was just so adorable though. But he stopped himself by volunteering to introduce John to K and Yaku.
"This is John, he's an AEGIS agent that keeps a lookout on the digital world" he explained. They would wait a few more minutes, but it would seem that no other agents would show for the moment.
"Well, they know where we are" Sophie said, referring to Satoshi, Yuuki and Alexa. "So then, let's take a look inside".
Sophie then turned and swiped a card through a slot by the door, which then opened. Next to this slot was an intercom. "While only agents and employees can enter freely, there's still the opportunity for ordinary tamers and people that already know about us to talk to the intercom, where we can either go down and meet them or let them in" she explained to the others. She thought this was an adequate level of security. The door could not be opened if anything less than a Perfect level blasted it otherwise.
Behind the door was an inconspicuous flight of stairs that led to the first floor, which held a small reception office with waiting chairs and a desk in the middle with a young woman in uniform sitting down. "Ah, good morning, Sophie" she said.
"Good morning" Sophie replied. She then turned to the other agents. "This is Sara, our receptionist. Sara, these are the other agents. Of course for such a large building we've had to hire employees to keep the place in order. Don't worry, they've all signed confidentiality forms and are aware of digimon".
To emphasize this, Lantis thus switched off his holosuit, turning from human back to Leomon. Sara didn't blink at it, and Sophie turned back to her.
"Sara, could you please open the door to the main office?" Sophie asked.
"Of course" Sara answered. Sophie then turned to explain the security details.
"If you need to enter, the receptionist on duty receives a password at the start of the shift and only she or he can open the door without incident. If it's an emergency, there is an override available if you raise your digivice to the sensor, but that triggers an alarm, so, be careful of that".
This was just in case a hostile tamer entered AEGIS. Sara and the other receptionists on duty were here as a polite front to take inquiries from other tamers and people affected by naughty digimon, but, they were also trained to be the sentries as well. If something was wrong, the headquarters would be placed on alert quite fast.
"So, everything clear so far?" Sophie asked the group, hoping everything was straightforward with their new building.

The arrival of a young man marked the end of what K was going to assume to be a somewhat small and closed event. She had figured that there would be a list of people she knew in there and a list that she didn't. But she honestly didn't know which would be larger.
She'd of course would return the bow that the young man gave to her; along with the introduction. Some humans liked handshakes, some liked bowing. Some liked both. She was more partial to the first one herself but she wasn't against doing either.
"A pleasure to meet you Mr. Yaku. My name is K. I'm ah..."
There was a soft laugh and a quirk of an eyebrow towards sophie. They were quick to introduce her in such a manner befitting the leader of Aegis, indicating she was a digimon and that she would be a liaison agent. She answered several questions that the digimon had already without even meaning to. She bristled slightly but seemed somewhat pleased to know what she'd be considered to this particular group of humans.
Of course then the next arrival was someone she immediately recognized. The shutmon perked up and turned to look towards the arrival of two individuals. She had met them only once before, but they were well enough on their way to being strong companions in general. Reliable in a pinch and someone she could trust to keep others honest thus far.
"I've met these two before lantis, Good people. However to answer your questions... I'd say about the same, I can't really complain thus far. It's good seeing you two again. How about you two?"
With the fact introductions were more or less out of the way brought the fact that they needed to go inside. So of course K followed in, looking around curiously. Her holosuit was having trouble keeping up with her by the looks of it, as she was excited beyond belief. Eventually during the explanation and introduction to the receptionist [along with the whole bit of lantis turning it off] K's own suit turned off and the shutmon would be there instead.
Her fur was somewhat standing on end, her tail lashing excitedly and her ears were swiveling to and fro. The shutmon was very excited to continue and with every single bit of information that passed it was only starting to get a little out of hand.
However there would be a point where K excused herself to calm down for maybe a minute or two before returning to the main group as a whole. Though her tail was still wagging and her ears were still shifting every which way.
"So far so good, it's good that this location is being treated like this. I imagine it has no end of contingencies and rules that'll need to be followed?"

Yaku bowed politely at the two others who joined them, smiling. "A pleasure to meet the both of you." He smiled again, trying to recall if they'd met before. Before he could dwell on it for too long, they were brought inside the building where he met the secretary. He once again, bowed politely, recalling a thing he saw on television about if he bowed too much he might end up with an aneurysm. He brushed that thought aside as he watched the woman remain unfettered by the digimon. "Do you think they'll have to get their own partners now?" He thought aloud. He never got a partner, despite all his interaction with the digital world... or maybe he just didn't find them yet? Either way. "Speaking of living quarters, I-" He paused and shook his head. It'd definately come up during the tour. "Nevermind, I'll let you continue."
He turned to look over shutmon. A purple renamon wearing... ninja weapons, cyborg parts, and pants that reminded him of weregarurumon. The digital world's sense of style left a lot to be desired, he thought, rolling the shoulder his fake arm barely fit into.

John made the decision to comment on Yaku's voiced thought while he and Casimeir excitedly awaited the tour that was about to commence. "Who's to say whether or not they'll get partners? The process is kind of tricky. I used to think that partnered humans were randomly chosen. But now..."
John looked down to his Agumon companion with a glint of happiness in his eyes. "I believe that Digimon and humans come together for a reason. We both work so well with each other and we have always succeeded in our endeavors."

Satoshi couldn't believe he was late on his first chance to see AEGIS' new HQ. He ran to the specified location as quickly as his legs would carry him, with Tsunomon stashed safely away in his bag.
He finally found his way to the four-story building and made his way in. He did his best to be discreet, as Sophie had instructed while they were first getting set up. Not many would ever truly know what took place in this building, and it was probably better to keep it that way.
Satoshi managed to spot Sophie and Lantis, along with a few of the other agents. The only one familiar to him was John, so he decided now would be as good a time as any to introduce himself. "Hey, all! Sorry I'm late," he said, bowing politely.
"mmphpffhm!" Tsunomon grunted, muffled while inside Satoshi's bag.

"Yes, of course" Sophie answered K's question, nodding. "The full briefing will come in time, but for now we should probably just keep to the basics. Given this is likely going to be your secure home on Earth, right?". A major benefit in this facility was to give their independent digimon agent a place to live in their world in comfort, safety and isolation from forces outside that would cause problems to her.
Yaku then asked if the non-agent staff of AEGIS would get partners too. To this, Sophie scratched her head with uncertainty. "Well... if they do get paired up with partners, I guess that's going to be that" she said. "But... we don't really know the process of how humans become partners with digimon after all, it doesn't seem to be a process that can be controlled in any way, so, I guess all I can say to that is if it happens, it happens".
She wished she knew more about this though. Like why both she and her brother had become partners to digimon of all people. Was it a random thing? Or was it determined by something else? Well, she supposed that was something to research later.
John mirrored her thoughts somewhat, to which she was glad to hear. Then, in the moments afterward, Sophie heard something else approaching. And it turned out to be Satoshi and Gabu- no, Tsunomon.
"Heh, glad you could make it" Sophie said, hands on her hips. "Well then. Let's proceed to the main event shall we?". She led the group through the security checkpoint into the main office area of AEGIS. Here, about a dozen technicians were at their computer stations, all of them with maps and news articles on their screens.
"This is the main operations floor" Sophie said. "Here is where we'll spend most of our day work. Our employees are basically going to monitor the media of Tokyo for any digimon activity, and if they spot anything, we're going to investigate. It's also where we'll deal with briefings and preparations for operations".
So far this was the second floor covered. The third and fourth floors would hold different facilities for AEGIS. Sophie paused for questions, if any arose.
