Shattered Rhythm [Mikemon]

Nothing to apologize about, huh?
Right now, Mikemon was having a bit of a hard time gauging this Examon spirit. One moment it seemed like she was about to rip him to shreds on the spot, and the next, there was a wolf hand firmly giving him a pat on the top of the head. To that, the feline more or less just 'let it happen', not interacting with the hand in any way other than an instinctual flick of his ear.
Proud as the cat might have been, it was clear that Examon feared the core - and why shouldn't she? The object was a reminder of her eventual end - at least to her individuality. If all the core was doing now was reflecting K's own personality, what kind of strength did it take to face being pulled into that sort of force? "I never meant for things to turn out the way that they did... though, the original plan had something similar to this happening to both yourself and GraceNovamon."
Still, there was no point dwelling on that for long. Mikemon gave a nod, assuring the spirit that he would tell her about Examon's wishes - but as she spoke on the D-Reaper, the feline gave a sigh. "Its still a mystery to me how it got so bad. The entity itself is just supposed to be a balance that eats away at the corruption of the Digital World to keep it stable. I didn't even consider that it could reach this form in the physical Digital World."
Past that, Examon's requests were rather reasonable - give K a kick in the butt in the right direction, and tell her Examon wanted to 'exist'. Simple enough, though at the more intimate note - sharing what he had just told Examon, with K herself - Mikemon blinked, and gave a slight blush. "Yeah... no point holding any of that back." He gave a chuckle, nodding in agreement with the dragon. "It'll take me some time, but I don't intend to hide anything from her. Or you, for that matter."
That aside, the last part made the cat's ear perk. Have her do one thing?
"... What is it?"

To say that she wasn't really expecting a reaction to her patting of the mikemon would be a flat out lie. There was a small sigh and the 'wolf' digimon would stop, putting it's hand back on their leg and looking somewhat thoughtful of course about the whole incident.
"I was okay with the plan as long as that Bastard GraveNovamon wasn't the one in control. They got us into this mess so why should they get out of it?"
There was a shake of the head and the digimon shifted forward a bit, looking increasingly thoughtful. She knew of the D-reapers only by name and what they were actually supposed to do. She didn't know anything else about them as at her time there hadn't been much in the way of data corruption or the like as the digital world was fairly young back then. Or at least younger than it was now so to speak.
"I want to say it's probably because of the humans, I didn't trust them back then and I still don't trust them now. Maybe the D-reaper is responding to them in a manner since they aren't normally comprised of data? I don't know honestly and I hope that's not the case as they sometimes can be a huge benefit to the digital world."
There was a small sigh and the wolf glanced at the mikemon; frowning slowly as the mikemon blushed softly. She wished that she could be more direct about this sort of thing but she was stuck in what most would call 'fourth wheel' position. If anything the third wheel in this would be jesmon of all things; which amused her to no end but still...
"Is that so? Maybe I should think of some more questions for later on. Maybe I can ask them or maybe... K will ask them for me once I'm a part of her."
There was a sad note to her voice at this point but that was replaced by the steely look that the green eyes gained. She'd turn her head slowly and stare at the mikemon for almost a full minute before speaking.
"She must be the one to absorb GraceNovamon if they are slain."
There was a soft pause and the examon sighed again.
"...As well as. I hate to say it but without knowing what the Royal knights are up to I have to assume they are dead. Would it be possible for a being such as her to become one? And if not, perhaps find someone that can?"

Sheesh, Examon almost seemed disappointed! Despite how he was around K, Dr. Mikemon really wasn't a touchy-feely sort of cat, and despite the spirit sharing the Shutmon's body, the feline was merely going to be accepting of the touch at best. As that hand was pulled away, he even gave a small scratch to the top of his skull.
Still, Examon's concern was quite telling: this would have been so much easier if the GraceNovamon simply ceased to be, like the two spirits inhabiting K would soon be. Hearing that reasoning, the feline gave a blink, and a sigh. "... Unfortunate, to say the least..." As for the D-Reaper, the feline tilted his head as the spirit spoke ill of humans, of all things. Really? "If the threat originated closer to the border between the worlds in Terminus, I might understand your point. But I very much doubt the humans have anything to do with this one."
As the conversation moved on, though, the Examon said something that actually took the cat off guard. Examon had her own questions, that she would wait to ask until she was a part of the host? The feline blinked, looking back into the Shutmon's gleaming green eyes. "I'll... I'll be happy to answer them." Just how else was he to respond? Really, it felt more a side note than anything else.
When Examon finally came down to it, after all, she dropped quite a heavy note: K would have to load GraceNovamon's data. "Wait, really? Certainly she's better off with that core not being a part of her. What's the difference between her absorbing it, and just letting her be trapped in the depths of the Dark Area? It seems like such a risk to take."
As for the knights? "You should know that better than anyone, Examon: Knights are given power by title. So long as the current Jesmon exists, its not remotely possible for her to assume the throne. Most Knights and Lords are chosen from egg."
He gave a chuckle: "It just proves how unfair the world can be."

The controlled wolf scratched her head a little bit, watching the mikemon carefully to gauge his reactions. She wasn't really sure how to feel about this small individual. He had made a large impact on the host for certain and went to great lengths but she couldn't really explain why something just.. Felt off to her.
"That it is I suppose. If that's the case then, I don't even know where to cast blame. I doubt it's anyone recently.. but.. Eugh. I hate this sort of thing."
There was another shake of and the 'examon' leaned back on the couch looking somewhat pensive. At the answer to her statement about further questions she'd snort softly.
"I wouldn't expect you to not unless they were somehow demeaning."
There was a lengthy pause at the questions that the cat asked them and the answer examon would provide. Her eyes slid across the room and the wolf bit their bottom lip looking somewhat out of sorts.
"Because it's possible current digimon won't be able to handle the load of data that the GraceNovamon has. And would you really trust someone in the dark area to handle that data in a manner that would benefit the digital world as a whole? It's best to have that data locked away in an individual that won't misuse them. If you can find other people that you can trust without a doubt to do the same then I won't really argue."
Once again there was another pause and the wolf shook their head, waggling a finger at the mikemon.
"I do know it better than anyone, but no one has ever loaded one Knight before much less two. And here we are sitting on that precipice. They needn't even take a title from one of the current ones, it's not like it's a limited lot of individuals and there's no law saying there can't be multiple of a certain type of knight. Unless the laws have changed of course, but that still begs the question of what our living halves are doing and why they aren't helping people in this time of need."
There was a stern pause and the controlled wolf turned their head to look once more to the mikemon.
"If they are not doing actions befitting that of a knight, what is to say we shouldn't remove them from their position forcibly? They are here to protect the digital world. Nothing more nothing less, the only reason Jesmon and I came to blows before was more of personal reasons. Which we should of just gotten over."
The mention of how the world was unfair actually made the examon flinch visibly, running her hand along the portion of neck that had been damage from the reppamon in a 'life past'.
"She knows that better than I do. I was handed my power on a silver platter, same with Jesmon. Even if she doesn't become one, she certainly will be able to contend with them someday. A title of power sometimes isn't enough to stop someone who has worked their bones for it. I learned that the hard way from GraceNovamon.
There was a soft visible shudder form the examon and she'd look to the hands that she kept with a small frown. The shudder would take place twice more before the examon's color started to fade from her eyes.
"My time is up cat. If you want to talk again, just take a peek with that crystal of yours and we'll have a short chat. If that's still too straining do what that Reppamon did when helping her pick..."
There was a soft sigh and the color completely faded away from the Shutmon's eyes. The 'host' or K as it was immediately put a hand to her head and groaned softly.
"A headache of all things.... eh.... Why am I sitting up?"

Sheesh, Examon was quick to defend her point - who else but K could handle that much data? The cat's ear twitched at the thought: "Although I wouldn't put 'ability to load a Digimon's data' high on the list of useful skills, K does have that sort of unfortunate practice, even just between you and Jesmon. Then again, I wasn't speaking of a Digimon loading GraceNovamon's data." At this point, the feline was about to tilt a little more than he would like to about his past, but he thought it might help quell the Examon's fear.
"The Sea of Blood was commonly used as an execution ground for that sort - trapping those in a myriad of souls and data so thick that they lose all sense of individuality. In that sense, lost in that terrible ocean, well, she would simply cease to be." It was a chilling thought, even the Mikemon's fur standing slightly on edge as he explained it. "It doesn't have to be her burden."
Whether that was the case or not, well, Examon soon spoke of her pride as a Knight. Indeed, K might actually end up being an exception to the rule - and even not, she might be in a position to act as one, anyway. To that, though, the Mikemon actually gave a smirk: "Doesn't it go both ways, though? I can't imagine what the Knights are doing, but if they aren't active right now, doesn't that mean that she's the closest we have?"
It was an interesting thought, at least, though K definitely wouldn't have the raw power that a Knight could provide. On that thought, the feline gave a nod as Examon started to fade: "I will keep that in mind." Soon enough, the Examon faded...
... And K appeared once more, that familiar blue glow in her eyes. "Long story short, Examon took over to talk to me." The doctor was upfront, giving a small smirk to the wolf: "I'll go over the details later. For now, how are you feeling? Just a headache?"

"It's not so much a skill of just a harmful truth. But if that's not what you're speaking of..."
There was a soft frown and the possessed wolf got another frown on it's face rather quickly. There was much about this world that she still didn't know and much about it that she would likely never know because of just how the die was cast. At the explanation the 'super mega' grimaced but started to smile after a few moments.
"If we can manage to get them to that grounds and do something along that line perhaps she doesn't have to bear such heavy data."
The examon tilted their head a little bit and blinked slowly at that sudden smirk. The ears of the wolf swiveled forward and there was a surprised expression on their face for a split second before it was replaced with that of a small grimace.
"It does go both ways then I suppose. If that's.. the line of thinking you want to go with yes I suppose she would be... With that in mind I guess there's not much that I can do. She'll have to make her own choices else she won't be... her own sort of knight I guess. We'll have to see what all comes from this core fusion business; well you'll see I'll just be a part of her rather.."
The wolfen digimon shifted after a bit, looking somewhat bothered by the fact that she had been taken over again. She'd exhale slowly and shake her head looking really out of sorts now. It didn't help that she had this bleeding headache either!
"Explains the headache then, her raw amount of power is still too much for me to handle... Eugh... She really needs to learn to be less overbearing."
The wolf stuck out her tongue like she was going to be sick and gazed at the Mikemon in what amounted to uncertainty. Her eyes however flashed with a soft anger at the question she was about to pose to the mikemon...
"Headache from that, and the same.. bits I feel from earlier. Less pronounced I'd figure cause of her whole appearance. She didn't do anything to you did she?"

"Once again, don't underestimate her." The cat gave one last chuckle to the dragon, before she'd slip away: "She's stronger than you think, in her own right."
But, as she had expected, Examon let go of the reins, and the Digimon created by circumstance was once more in control of her own body. With her, the cat's tone was much warmer, much less of a 'knife' held in her tone. "I agree, she is quite the overbearing one. That said, well..." The rest of his answer tied right into K's next question. "Mm? Not at all. She just felt like she should talk to the one who made the core, to talk over some things. I want to talk to you about those, but considering your condition, that can wait until tomorrow..."
Right, K did well this morning, but even early in the afternoon, she already seemed out of it. Her memory was quite spotty as it was! "I hate to cut it short, but come on downstairs." The cat was simply being cautious, not wanting to have to explain to a confused, panic wolf as to why she woke up in an unfamiliar place. "It's a bit early, but I want you to get as much sleep as you can manage. It'll be boring, but hey - right now, I'll take boring."
As for the next day? Well, it was the day after Mikemon's off day, which meant that he only had a few appointments scattered throughout the day. There were a few right in the morning, and so long as they went as planned, the cat didn't mind it as much. A tamer with a Biyomon trying to ward off a dark curse on his talon, a Lillymon doing her best to regain her voice, an Agumon who'd been corrupted to the point where he couldn't breathe fire - all interesting cases, right within the feline's control.
Perhaps K would be up in the background, or perhaps she'd still be squared away in the observation room. She was more than welcome upstairs at this point, as well as to the break room - though it wouldn't be until about 10:00 in the morning that the cat would seemingly have a chance to take a breath!

The dragon couldn't respond to the cat's last quip, there wasn't anything she could even really say to it either. She had to underestimate K just to be safe, else her own skin was in danger if she got overzealous!
K rubbed her muzzle and looked around the room. Everything always looked so muffled to her when she had her body back after someone had taken it over. The ring that she had first lost her body to back when she was still an innkeeper. The first time gracenovamon took over... the time Jesmon had and now with Examon. She really hoped that she wouldn't keep losing her body to these cores.
"It's not a surprise when I really think about it, they are a Dragon emperor after all.. right?"
She'd rub her head again and frown, her ears laying back and the wolf stuck out her tongue. There was the sickening feeling that she had gotten used to; when she used too much power or something had happened.
"Well I don't see why she couldn't of just had me say those things or tell me about them.. it's not like she can't after all... Waiting till tomorrow? All right well.. I don't. I don't really see an issue with that at all."
She'd sigh softly and shook her head a little bit; getting the cobwebs out. She started to recount the events of the day and found herself frowning a bit. There were large gaps she couldn't account for and that was somewhat bothering. But if the mikemon already knew about that.. Well there was nothing she really could do other than follow his instructions.
"All right. Lead the way then..."
The wolf rubbed her eyes and readied herself for likely what was going to be a difficult rest.
K unfortunately didn't wake up during the scope of time that the mikemon had appointments. She was passed out on the observation room's bed; for a stunning amount of time. Eventually she'd wake up with something echoing in her head. It was quiet at first but at one point it got loud enough to where the digimon shot up clutching her head with a grimace.
She'd step out of the observation room finding herself actually loaded this time around. While she didn't mind seeing her fur from before she had to admit that she had started to like the armor that the shutmon had. It's colors didn't seem as vibrant to her, but the same could be said about the rest of the location as she stepped out.
Wait what the...
The digimon exhaled a little bit and noted that the air in front of her muzzle was turning icy. There was a soft widening of her eyes and she'd quickly go seek out mikemon. She didn't look very nervous and she was obviously well rested but the air about her said something was wrong.
"These last few days have been nothing short of constant development Mikemon, look at this."
She'd point to right in front of her muzzle and slowly exhale; the frozen crystals coming into being immediately afterwards. The shutmon wasn't sure what to think, but things like this didn't just happen right?

Honestly, maybe it was fortunate that K had managed to sleep through the doctor's busy period. The longer the wolf could sleep, the more Jesmon would be able to work on K's core, and the faster she could recover. It made things a bit easier on the cat, too, as he didn't have to worry about the Shutmon suddenly calling for help in the back.
The thought was still on his mind, though, and on days like today he really didn't want to handle this place on his own. That bug better hurry up. I know its a crisis, but to take up a whole day? Hope he's fine.
The cat couldn't dwell on personal thoughts for long. Setting up a return appointment for the last patient of his morning group - that voiceless Lillymon - the Mikemon was finally given a moment to breathe.
But just a moment - the Shutmon soon had something new to show him! "Look at what? Everything alright?" The feline blinked, as the wolf started to demonstrate: a cold breath rested in front of her, fog condensing and quickly spinning away in the room. At this, the feline was a touch curious. It could have been something concerning, but if the cat was right?
"Hang on - look down the hall. That way, away from the light fixture." Carefully, the feline would step out of the way, standing in the doorway to the observation room. "Before I test anything more than I need to, I want to see if this works. Look forward, think 'cold', and propel your breath outward, like you're going to shoot fire from your lungs."

K rubbed the back of her head looking somewhat concerned, she didn't know what this meant. Was it meaning her data was starting to settle down properly? Or that another problem in this sea of issues was going to just leap up and demand their attention? She really hoped it was the former option.
"When I went to sleep it wasn't doing this..."
She'd huff a bit and shake her head; she still didn't like this and when the doctor told her to look down the hall away from the light fixture she'd comply. Her icy breath still coming in waves even though she was nervous about this whole thing. It wasn't uncommon after all for people to breath much faster if something was wrong.
"All right all right..."
The shutmon however blinked several times and looked at the mikemon when he explained what he wanted her to do. She looked actually pretty confused but took a few moments to consider what he had said.
"I can't breath fire though Mikemon, but I think I get what you're saying... "
The shutmon took a moment to collect herself and did as the mikemon said. Not two seconds later did a large cone of ice spread out of her mouth. It could of been much larger but it was obvious K didn't have any idea on what she was doing as her only breath weapon she knew how to use was buster-beam.
"Now my tongue is really cold eugh... What on earth is this...?"

It wasn't like this when she went to bed, of course: "Your data was still settling in. But if you can control it, there's nothing to be worried about." If this was just part of her natural data cycle, the feline didn't want to disturb it - this was the quickest test he could think of to determine if the wolf was actually freezing from the inside-out.
Fortunately, that was far from the case! With Dr. Mikemon's direction, K let forth a rather impressive attack - a sheer cone of cold, icy breath that left an absolutely chilling sensation in the air! Covering his eyes from the outward affects of the attack, the cat let out a low whistle under his breath. "I can imagine - I'm standing behind you, but I still feel it in my fur." That said, he took a few steps forward, rocking a now-frozen table that had sat at the side of the hall. He was going to have to replace that...
... But, aside from that, the feline gave a chuckle! "Its just a matter of your data settling. You said that you had come from the northern mountains, right? Maybe this is something closer to your 'original' data set." Still, that just just a theory: "In any case, its hardly a surprise. You're practically a new species of Digimon at this point, so picking up another element isn't entirely surprising. More importantly, does it feel uncomfortable at all?"

"You have a very good point there, I wonder if jesmon straightening things out will make me more collected than I was before..."
The shutmon looked down at her hands blinking a few times; she could feel pieces here and there clicking into place. While she was still having trouble recalling yesterday there wasn't so many holes in them. Had jesmon overworked themselves? She'd glance back at mikemon after her attack looking somewhat surprised at how it turned out.
"This.. is just weird, I've never heard of someone getting a new attack like this. I hope this doesn't become a constant occurrence..."
The shutmon looked to the table and felt her face drop a little bit; she hadn't met to hit that in the slightest but she hadn't a clue what was going to actually come from it. She'd bow her head slightly; feeling somewhat bad as there was little doubt that wasn't going to be that quick to replace. Maybe if it thawed out it'd be okay?
"Well yeah, I was born up there that's why my fur probably feels thicker than most renamons? I think? I really haven't met any others. It's possible that it could be closer to it I guess..."
The shutmon didn't look terribly convinced but she wasn't against the idea; however with the statement that she was a completely new species of digimon now made her pause blink a few times and give the mikemon one of the confused looks she could muster.
"I don't. I don't know about that and... Well I don't feel bad but this little bit of frost isn't going away when I breathe out. It's kind of weird. And no, I don't feel uncomfortable. It's just strange to me; I can't imagine this change being something that I'm going to be able to get used to right away."
The shutmon gave a small shrug of her shoulders and turned herself slightly to better inspect her handy work. It was somewhat surprising still... Just how much about her had changed with this most recent incident?

Well, even if the new addition wasn't dangerous, K was understandably concerned about the implication. That said, all the Mikemon could do was give a sigh. "You're fully tapping into the two remaining cores for the first time - not to mention the fresh addition of that converted totem. If there's one change, there's bound to be others - but at the very least, you seem to be in control of those powers."
Tapping the table, the feline added a chuckle: "Just need a bit of practice with them. Still, ice can come in handy." It would have been nice to have this skill in that room inside of the temple, after all! At this point, the cat's guess was about as good as anyone else's - a blind shot in the dark, at best. Hearing that she was 'comfortable', the doctor gave another nod. "It might be worth exploring your other forms later to see if anything else has an icy touch. That said, I don't have another appointment until about one in the afternoon, so... um, how's your head? Feeling better in that regard?"
An important question, especially considering how the wolf was yesterday! "If so, I'd like to talk with you over what the Examon spoke to me about yesterday. I'm sure she'll be listening in as well. If you're up for it, I'll get some tea or something going in the break room?"

"You've got a good point there, hopefully they're nothing overwhelming... I don't know how well that'd go over really considering the condition I am in."
The shutmon turned her hands over and leaned to run her hand along the frozen portion that was quickly thawing. She felt herself frowning and she'd glance back tutting gently. What was that place called anyways? The absolutely horrid location that was so cold her parents had forbade her to go there? She couldn't think of it
"It certainly can and will, I can only imagine all the uses it could of had..."
The shutmon put a hand to her muzzle and found herself frowning again. There was a plethora of places she could of used it; one of them likely would of made a huge difference and she might not of gotten in this mess! Sometimes abilities were just... the thing you needed really.
"Who know's, I'll have to take a look. Though something I've noticed thus far is that the cloak that jesmon had is between both my renamon and shutmon form. Even when the stuff hadn't loaded properly it was still there. If the icy bits is in the same regard well.. I might have another move type that'll be very worth using."
There was a quick pause and she'd gingerly touch the side of her head. The ache from last night wasn't anywhere to be found and she happily could say that she was feeling better.
"I don't have a headache anymore, and as you've likely already noticed my equipment is back. Felt a little light before honestly... oh? No appointments for a bit? Well that's good. Wouldn't want you to work too hard!"
The shutmon snickered a little bit and shifted slightly running a hand along one of her forearm blades inspecting it's edge for a moment before pausing midway. She didn't like the implications of what the examon would of said to mikemon. If it was something bad well.. She'd have to have some words with the dragon.
"All right, so lets go up to the break room and we can have a good chat about it! Hopefully it's nothing bad... Got enough of that lately as you're well aware."
The shutmon of course would follow after the mikemon to the break room; she actually couldn't remember which one was the room in question as she still was learning everything...

Honestly, K could have been doing a lot worse - her rehabilitation period, all things considered, was going along remarkably smoothly. The Shutmon soon made note of it herself: she had her equipment back, and she found herself quite stable in form and tone. At a glance, it would be practically impossible to tell how ill she felt just a day prior!
Of course, there were no guarantees that she would stay that way. "Heh, I work as hard as I want to, these days." Giving a slight chuckle, he would soon lead K on into the break room, starting a pot of tea on a burner over on the break room counter. The Shutmon seemed a little lost, but this was the same room in which they watched that news report about the D-Reaper.
... On second thought, it was probably better that she forgot.
"While that's going," the cat started, "I may as well just go through the more important things she ran through. Its a heavy list, but, let's see..." Taking a breath, the cat closed his eyes, mulling it over:
"First and foremost, she's concerned about your mental state. I won't pretend this is easy, but she asked that you 're-orient' yourself. She's worried that, between the inn and the incident in the Dark Area, that you may not end up being effective if something else happens. Those are her words, not mine: she wants you able to look forward without dragging your legs in the past." The cat knew this was definitely the heaviest bit, and honestly, he'd have to wait to hear her response before weighing in on his own.
"The second, was something more specific: should you find GraceNovamon again, Examon requested for you to load her data - or, at the very least, rend it impossible for it to return. In a similar vein, she even asked me if there was a way you could gain a Title as a Royal Knight - something I believe is impossible."
He paused. "And third, well... honestly, that should probably wait until we discuss the other two..." The cat blushed, with a sigh.
