Separation anxiety [Colin]

Thursday morning…or at least Carlos thought it was Thursday…
After spending a little over a day stranded on the so called Digital World, the young man named Carlos was slowly starting to learn and understand the place’s many odd quirks. All the while the man slowly losing any hope that this was all just some weird fever dream, one that he would eventually wake up from and promptly forget the next day, just like many other dreams before it.
Now along with his partner Dio, the recently digivolved Impmon and self proclaimed “Dark Lord” (formerly known simply as Pagumon, the obnoxious little brat), they had taken their chance now that they were back on civilized ground to explore and get more acquainted with the layout of the city that would soon become the man’s home away from home, at least according to his companion.
That said, how exactly they had managed to wander from the center of town into what was probably the ugliest, less welcoming part of the city? Not even Carlos was completely sure. He had merely chosen what seemed like a good direction and stuck with it, whilst the purple imp followed after. And while the fact that his partner had recently digivolved and was now not only slightly bigger but apparently more capable of protecting them both did offer the man some solace in this new insane world, there was of course a downside. Namely, his partner might now be stronger and slightly more mature, but that didn’t mean he was any nicer.
“Just admit it idiot, you’re lost.” Dio said, mocking his tamer, a condescending tone in his voice. However, Carlos was by now starting to get used to the short digimon’s brand of…let’s call it humor, so his attempts at insulting and belittle the man weren’t nearly as hurtful or effective as before.
“Well no duh,” he said in response with a small shrug, “I don’t know this city and I didn’t ask anyone on the way for directions. What’s your excuse?”
“Pfff, who said I was lost? I know my way around, I’ve been here before a couple of times.” He reassured the human. While Carlos didn’t have enough evidence to believe otherwise, he suspected his partner was lying to his face, and that he was in fact just as lost as to where they had to go.
The condemned and ruined buildings made the whole neighborhood look like a ghost town, a place abandoned long ago by its inhabitants, probably in the search of a better place to live. The duo’s steps echoes loudly through the abandoned streets, providing the only thing breaking the silence. As they kept approaching what looked like the entrance to a subway, the tanned man began loudly tapping his digivice with his fingers, as if somehow trying to distract his mind long enough to forget how bad of an idea this most likely was.
“What, don’t tell me you’re scared. Does the little human wanna turn back?” The imp teased as soon as he took notice of the man grasping his digivice, a smile both evil and smug on his lips. “Eh, we got this far, might as well go all the way, right?” Carlos replied, still not noticing he was still holding onto the small device. “Your funeral.” He shrugged, but didn’t add anything else.
To be perfectly honest, Carlos was indeed, a bit afraid. Not that he would say that to his partner’s face, but he was half expecting someone would pop out of the next corner and shank him just to steal his shoes, and not even the being in the company of a small fire wielding demon named after a deceased metal singer was enough to make him feel any safer.
Or to shake off the feeling that there was something out there, watching their every step.

Today's trip to Terminus City had been a good one. It was always neat to walk around the shopping malls and restaurants of the massive digimon city. And to the delight of Colin James and his twin partners Luke the Elecmon and Bellamy the Impmon, their latest order was ready - custom shirts with the new PROFIT logo on them.
The logo was designed by their friend Cion and the trio adored it. Bellamy and Colin were wearing black T-Shirts with the logo on the front and back, while Luke was wearing a more formal polo shirt with the logo on his chest pocket. Now the three could be easily sighted as being part of this great organization of the digital world. Colin of course was wearing his usual brown cargo pants and shoes, while his partners eschewed pants altogether, but still wore their red and blue scarves.
"So, what now?" Bellamy asked as they strolled around town, holding his arms behind his head as he grew kinda bored. Luke meanwhile was reading the news on a kind of digimon smartphone and didn't notice, but Colin was frowning around at the scenery.
"Strange, I don't think we've been to this part of the city before" he remarked. They had entered an underpass of sorts and were just going with the flow, but, now that the crowd had thinned out, they had seemed to come across a more derelict part of town. Luke looked up from his reading and looked around nervously. This was definitely unfamiliar territory.
"Should we go back?" he asked.
"Huh... now that you mention it, I think I heard about this place" Bellamy said, turning around. "Been discovered a little while ago, apparently there's a huge old part of the city discovered underground. Maybe we're headed there?"
While Luke had been skittish a little while ago, he felt better at the idea of exploring. "Huh, really? Okay, why don't we do that?" he asked. Other digimon were observed entering here, so, maybe seeing this place for themselves might give them a better understanding of this rediscovered part of the city.
Not long after that, it seemed they were alone again. The buildings became more and more eerie; twisted by dereliction and other forces that were unknown. Furthermore, some parts were clearly showing distortions and pixellations - signs of rotten corrupted data. The trio kept clear of things like that.
Before long, they heard voices ahead. Two separate ones. And as they turned the corner, they saw two figures. One was a human that seemed older than Colin, the other was an Impmon.
"Huh... feels funny seein' someone like yaself around" Bellamy remarked. Sometimes he forgot that he wasn't the only Impmon in the world. Welp, best see what they were up to. "Heya! You two explorin' too?" he called out to them. He, Colin and Luke approached, wondering how this would go.

As the sunglasses wearing man was starting to ponder the possibility of calling it quits and turning back, a different voice coming from behind called out to them, making the duo stop on their tracks to look back at the source of the sound. The voice belonged to an approaching Impmon that (inexplicably) had a very similar accent to that of a Brooklyn native. However, considering the large amount of bizarre things he had witnessed so far in the span of just a couple of days, this was downright mundane for Carlos, though it was still odd enough for it to stick out.
The digimon wasn’t alone however, following close behind him was a red digimon, as well as a young black haired teen that was probably not older than 15 years old by the looks of it. Most likely another tamer and his digimon twins, not unlike those his girlfriend had recently bonded with.
Well, it was certainly a more welcoming sight than the kind of people Carlos expected to find on a place like this. Hell, even if they were dangerous at the very least they were polite enough to say hi. Might as well do the same, the man thought. “Hey there.” He called out with a small wave.
Dio however, wasn’t nearly as friendly to the approaching group, watching them in silence as they got closer.
“Hmph. Odd, you look...different.” Dio commented when the other Impmon was withing hearing distance. And to be fair, he wasn’t completely wrong either. This other Impmon look remarkably different, his whole body and appearance looking a bit more feline and less…well, demon like than Dio. ”Is that why your voice sounds weird too?” He asked in a questioning and almost judgmental way. Clearly, he had noticed the accent as well. And he did not like it one bit.
“And would you look at that: matching T-shirts. Heh, how cute.” The imp sarcastically remarked immediately after as he eyed the new comers, not impressed in the slightest.
“Alright alright, that’s enough of being an ass, dude.” Carlos chimed in scolding the purple imp, who huffed a bit but didn’t say anything else. “Please forgive him, he’s not the most…socially adjusted individual.” He said turning to face the group, trying to find the words that were the least insulting possible to define his partner’s personality. The last thing he wanted was for his partner to take his anger out on him. Again. Carlos’ eyebrows had just barely remained unscathed the last time that happened.
“And yeah, never been in this part of town before so we figured might as well explore a bit and see what’s what.” He explained. “Oh, and name’s Carlos, by the by.” He added with a friendly smile, before cocking his way in the direction of his companion. “He’s Dio.” “Hmph. That’s the Dark Lord Dio for you two.” The imp said to the other two digimon with a petulant tone as he folded his arms, Carlos simply rolling his eyes as he did so. One of these days his partner’s loud mouth was so going to get them both killed. Or robbed. Or both, and not necesarilly in that order.
“Yeah I know, he’s…a real piece of work.”

Colin was glad that the older guy greeted back. Seeing him up close, he looked at least in his early 20's.
Indeed Bellamy looked different to other Impmons. Well, mainly because of due to sharing his brother's data, he was more like 75% Impmon, 25% Elecmon. Instead of smooth skin, he had purple cat-like fur, with white on his face and belly. And his features were more beast than demon. But he still had the characteristic impish grin and emerald green eyes of the species. And in turn, Luke was the reverse, the blue fur on his back purple, as well as being a bit more skinny and taller than ordinary Elecmon. He could also quite easily walk on two legs instead of four.
Bellamy was a little taken aback by the other Impmon's tone, but then remembered that Impmons generally tended to be assholes. He was no saint either, having attempted to mug Luke the first time they met. Since his adventures with his partner and family though, he had since learned to chill.
Instead of reacting negatively, he simply flashed a grin. "Heh yeah, guess my shirt is pretty cute" he said. "Although if you're that interested, I should tell you I'm already engaged and have kids, so, no thanks". He knew that wasn't what the other Impmon was asking, but he pretended it was anyway.
Glad to see that Bellamy wasn't reacting angrily, Colin turned to the other tamer. "Eh, that's fine, these guys were a handful when I first met them too" he said.
"Hey we weren't that bad..." Bellamy objected. Colin sighed and looked down at him.
"Maybe, but still, I couldn't exactly tell my teacher 'Sorry, Ms. Haruna, my pet set fire to my homework' that day could I?"
Bellamy gave an awkward giggle and broke off, supposing that was true. Luke meanwhile understood all too well how nasty Impmons could be, but again, if his influence had made Bellamy into a good digimon, maybe there would be hope for this one too?
"Ah yeah, that story sounds like ours" Colin said, referring to them exploring this part of the city. "I'm Colin James. Nice to meet you".
Bellamy turned his snort of mirth into a cough at hearing the name "Dark Lord Dio" as a name. Boy, that ego! Luke meanwhile maintained a passive look, although he was also trying hard to keep a poker face.
"Well, I'm Luke and this is my brother, Bellamy" he introduced them. "Together we're part the PROFIT organization... hence the shirts" he plucked at his.
While he was saying this, Colin looked at a nearby flare-up of corrupted data on one of the nearby buildings. "Man, this is some place, huh?" he asked.

“W-wait what? Why would I…what?!” Dio said, flabbergasted. Was this furry fool really implying what he thought he was implying? The gall, the audacity, the outrage!
For once, the Impmon known as Dio he was at a loss for words. He was used to making people angry. Few things amused him more than rattling some cages and causing strife with some well placed comments and insults…except maybe burning stuff, that never got old either. So of course, when the other Impmon not only didn’t seem to react to his mean spirited comments, but actually talked back in such a calm fashion and smiling as it was no big deal threw the confused imp for a loop.
Even Carlos seemed to silently nod in approval at Bellamy’s words upon seeing the effect they had on the megalomaniac imp. Admittedly, seeing his partner lose his composure was fun, but seeing him like this? It was golden. “Tch. Great, another comedian.” The small imp spat, having finally calmed himself down enough. “And wait really, engaged? Kids? Pffft, you clearly have been hanging around humans way too long, you have my condolences.” He said mockingly, which took Carlos aback for a moment. From what he had seen so far, digimon society worked practically the same way as humans did, so why would settling down and having a family was considered “too human” for Dio? The man then remembered his partner had mentioned something about being from somewhere other than the big city, from a not particularly civilized part of the Digital World. What was it called again? The dark zone? The phantom area? Regardless, if it was true and not just another hyperbolic tale to boost his own ego even more, it would probably explain why the concept of a family was so alien to him.
That or he could simply be mocking Bellamy just to spite him. Both were about as likely explanations as any other. “Heh, I would have given anything just to have someone to burn my homework when I was your age.” He commented with a chuckle referring to Colin’s story. “Glad I only got one though, don’t think I could handle two like him.”
“Hmph, of course you would waste my amazing potential on something as mundane as that. And what do you mean with” two like me”?” Dio said, sounding offended, before turning to face the other digimon as they continued to introduce themselves. He could have almost sworn that the twins did not take his title seriously in the slightest, but decided to ignore it for the time being. They would soon come to respect him anyways. Eventually. “PROFIT? And what’s that, some sort of loan shark business?” The small fiend asked, somewhat curious, almost as if the possibility of working as a loan shark was appealing to him. Hey, taking money from suckers was just as good a job as any other.
“Yeah, what even happened here? Did a bomb fall or something? It looks like some sort of Digital Chernobyl. Freaky.” Carlos asked Collin while glancing around, their surroundings still looking as threatening and unwelcoming as always, the ruins and odd digital anomalies giving the place a haunting, ruined look reminiscent of an abandoned battlefield. Truth be told, he was starting to have some second thoughts about staying there, after all he was still relatively new to this world, and yet here he was already sticking his head into potentially dangerous places without having a plan in mind. That said, there was deep sense of curiosity and wonder about exploring places like this. Specially being on a different world than Earth. Who knew what sort of secrets could be hidden away here? Speaking of which, that gave him an idea.
“You guys seem to know your way around. Mind giving us some pointers or directions so we can…you know, not get hopelessly lost? I’m…well, I’m kind of new to this whole place, really.”

Bellamy couldn't help but snicker a little as Dio reacted as expected. It was a little trick he had learned from his brother, don't act insulted when someone's insulting you and the novelty wears off. But Bellamy wouldn't insult Dio in return, after all, he was a dad and soon to be husband, he could let little grievances like this fly.
He found Dio's remarks interesting though. It seemed he held some kind of disdain for humans. Ah, this could be the answer to why he was acting this way. An anthrophobe ending up with a human partner, yeah, certainly not a recipe for good.
"Heh, thanks" was Bellamy's only reply to the "condolences" about having a family. Again he just loved playing dumb and acted as though Dio was complimenting him. "I have a photo if you wanna see 'em" he offered, brightly.
"Bells, easy now..." Luke advised, not wanting him to provoke any hasty reaction from the other Impmon.
Indeed, Bellamy's family did seem a bit unusual. For one thing his fiance was a male Coronamon, and he had a Guilmon-X son and a Gazimon daughter, through methods unknown to him. But somehow it seemed bonding with another digimon had helped create two others that somehow shared a bit of data from the both of them. And he was proud as punch about it.
"Heh, I see. It was a pain in the butt when it happened though" Colin admitted to Carlos. "At least it hasn't happened again".
Luke meanwhile was happy to tell more about PROFIT. "Ah, no, it's basically a business where we help others in the digital world with difficult jobs, and they pay us for it if we do it" he explained. "I like to think of it as the start of a functioning economy of the digital world. Seems pretty neat, given how well the human world is going by it". It at least worked that way in his mind. Maybe this way digimon could have a big shining world like Earth?
Colin was less idealistic about it of course, he was mainly in it because it paid way better than any other normal job for a 14 year old American-Japanese boy in Tokyo. But still, it was fun.
Then Carlos remarked that something was off about this place, it indeed looked like some disaster had happened here.
"Yeah, I get what you mean" Luke said, frowning. "To be honest, seeing this in person, it makes me a bit worried. The entropy of the digital world seems to be getting more and more out of whack the longer things go as they are".
Well, if it truly was dangerous, at least he felt strong enough to respond to it quickly. Carlos then asked for pointers about the digital world.
"Well, best keep to the Core, East and South if you can, they're the safest regions" Colin began. "The West is a barren desert, so, only go that way if you have a reason. And the North is an icy wasteland, so, again. The other regions seem okay, in fact there's the City of Whitewater to the South, you haven't had the real Digital World experience until you've gone there". Colin personally loved it in Whitewater, as did his partners.
Colin said this as he proceeded forward into the underground city, looking around it in wonder. Just... what had happened here?

“A photo? Sure.” Dio said with a smirk that could barely hide his sheer annoyance and slowly growing anger, his right hand lightly glowing as a tiny fire appeared on his gloved fingertips. “It’s getting a bit chilly here, I could use some fuel to start a nice fire.” If passive aggressive comments and insults weren’t going to cut it, then a more direct threat would.
After seeing such an escalation was it any wonder that Carlos was really starting to get fed up with the digimon’s bad temper and general antisocial behavior? Why couldn’t he get someone more chill for a partner? Or at the very least less prone to burning things that annoyed him.
During the few days they had spent together he had already gotten used to his general distaste for everything that wasn’t food or himself. Carlos was almost sure he didn’t really care about the humans well being, and that he simply stayed around cause he was both a reliable food source and his best shot at attaining more power through digivolution. His ecstatic reaction when he grew in size and form after being Pagumon only cemented this theory. Maybe he was wrong all along and the problem was something different, maybe Dio didn’t just disliked humans. Maybe he didn’t like anyone else but himself. Regardless, he felt this time it was necessary to step up and stop things from escalating. It didn’t matter how chill or nice this Bellamy was, once someone throws a fireball at your face rules and etiquette usually don't apply anymore.
“Dio, would you please stop trying to get into fights with everyone you come across? It would only be a waste of time and energy for everyone involved.” He said, trying to appeal to the imp's rational side. The small imp shot a look of disdain at the human for a moment, but then relented, the man’s words having actually reached him for once and making him seriously think if this was worth it. After a moment the fire on his hand went away, as he turned once again to face Bellamy. “Hmph, you lucked out for now, fleabag. I shall grant you mercy for the time being.” He said, trying to sound forgiving but instead coming off as if he was trying to save face and seem like the better digimon. Which of course was exactly what he was doing, even if he still was thinking of ways he could get his revenge against the twin for (in his own eyes at least) having just been humiliated in front of his own tamer.
Sure, the idea of picking on his brother to get a reaction out of Bellamy had occurred to him, but something kept him from reaching for such a low hanging fruit. Possibly it wasn’t out of the good in his heart, but because of pride. Targeting someone else’s close ones just for the sake of causing them grief felt…cheap somehow. Too easy. And certainly too low for a self proclaimed Dark Lord to do. He’d think of something proper, more worthy of him…but later.
“So charity work but with an actual reason to do it. I’ve heard off less dignified ways of earning money…” he commented while Luke explained the purpose of PROFIT, throwing a not too subtle judgmental glance at Carlos. “…then again I also heard of more dignified ways as well. But to each its own, I guess.” He shrugged. Shame, and to think he was considering for a moment about possibly demanding asking about joining. Oh well, there were plenty of other ways of making money in the digital world. “Eh, don’t be such a downer, it’s not like the world is ending.” Dio said to Luke, clearly not nearly as informed about the current state of the world as he was. Or maybe he simply didn’t care.
“Got it, stay away from the West and North unless necessary, and I should really visit the South. Anything else?” Carlos repeated aloud to make sure he wouldn’t forget. It seemed simple enough, as long as he kept track of where the North was. Maybe he would later find a shop from where to buy a compass from. “Also, any tips about wandering into abandoned underground ruins of condemned neighborhood? Or is this your first time doing it too?” He quipped with a smile as he followed behind Collin as they continued their descent into the depths of the city, letting him take point as he was clearly more experienced about this whole place despite his young age. He couldn’t help but wonder just how long had this kid been around to explore this world, and more importantly how long would it take for Carlos to learn that much.
Though despite no longer being alone in such a frankly creepy place on an already hostile world helped him cheer up some, there was something that still bothered him about this whole situation. None of them seemed to really know why this was the way it was. He wasn’t sure if that made him feel better for not being the only one not knowing, or worse. Because if not even those that (possibly) knew all the ins and outs of the Digital World knew what had happened there, then something possibly more sinister could be going on. “So, any of you guys have any ideas what might be waiting below?”
“You mean besides our untimely demise and certain doom?”

Bellamy's expression changed at that sentence. Seemed the games were over, now the threats were starting to fly. Had he been in his old Impmon ways he would've responded by conjuring a fireball of his own immediately, but, that was then, this is now. Bellamy had by now learned that this wasn't the right way to do things. But, still, he wouldn't render himself defenseless, and would let it be known that he was no longer playing now the implied threat had been made.
"Careful now" was his only reply, but his eyes locked with Dio's. Although if it came to blows it wouldn't be Bellamy he'd have to watch out for. Luke could get very dangerous when his brother was threatened. At the very least, Bellamy was dropping his dumb facade now that aggression was displayed.
Thankfully Carlos managed to defuse things. Dio then resorted to petty insults again. And petty insults could be dealt with more easily than actual attacks. "Why thank you, Dio", he deliberately didn't say 'lord'. "And by the way, good hygeine keeps the fleas away, in case you thought everyone with fur just has fleas all the time".
Luke meanwhile didn't react to Dio's flippant remarks about PROFIT. There wasn't much to be angry about anyway, although since Dio had delivered that close threat to his brother he paid closer attention to him. None of them had registered Dio as a threat yet, but, they were close to. But, even so, both had dealed with such a situation before, they wouldn't respond to such a threat in a petty way anyway.
"Regardless, it's a trend from what I can see" Luke replied. "More humans ending up in the digital world, more weird things happening, and now, this place opening up suddenly. I don't think if this continues that something good will come of it".
Colin meanwhile chuckled at Carlos's words. "Actually, I've been in a few places like this already" he said. "There was an illegal underground evolution lab to the South, then a strange place in the North where earthquakes were happening, and then the Ancient Ruins to the West. We got lucky in those places. But, well, stick by us and we can keep you safe. I can evolve my partners to a very high level if the situation calls for it".
Super Mega in fact, but since Carlos seemed to be a new human to the digital world, Colin didn't feel the need to say just how much this was. Was it a mistake? He wouldn't know for the moment. But, for now, he would continue forward cautiously into the underground ruins.

While Bellamy’s sudden change in tone took Dio aback for a moment, a smug smirk soon twisted his lips. Finally, he was managing to get to him, and all it took were some threats. Too bad Carlos had to end it so quickly, since Dio would have loved to try and see how much more he could push before the other Impmon would too resort to petty violence. Regardless, he was happy with his progress.
He had managed to crack open Bellamy’s playful façade, if only for a short time. That counted as a victory for him, albeit a small one, so he was fine standing down for the time being…even if Bellamy somewhat soured said victory by going back to his jokey attitude (and especially for purposely omitting his title). He considered making a comment about him burning his hair off to help him keep the fleas away more efficiently, but decided against it, merely growling and mumbling something under his breath (possibly very foul in nature), obviously low enough so only himself would be able to hear it. He already knew there was nothing to be gained by simple insults, and besides he knew better than to try his hand at making more threats. Even someone as proud and cocky as he was knew picking a fight with twins was...less than ideal for him, especially with no means to evolve yet.
“Well, you guys sure get around a lot. And here I felt special for having wandered into this place without any help.” He chuckled. At least his suspicions had been confirmed now: these three we’re practically veterans compared to him, and had already been in their fair share of adventures. Not only that but they had apparently achieved a "very high level" of evolution, which no doubt meant they had more than enough power to level a building if they so pleased. “Duly noted, I feel a lot safer already.” Carlos admitted to Collin with a nod. It was nice knowing that worst case scenario he had someone with him that would gladly take care of whatever tried to ruin their day. Hopefully it wouldn’t have to come to that. Obviously, hearing these news didn't exactly made Dio any happier, only adding jealousy into the mix of disdain he already was starting to feel for this Bellamy fellow.
Carlos didn’t think it was possible, but the deeper they went the worse their surroundings got. Rubble littered the ground, pieces of debris and twisted metal covering up what looked like other entrances from the outside, and the clusters of corrupted and glitched up data became more and more prevalent around them, some of them big enough to fit a whole person inside. As much as his curious gaze kept being drawn towards the digital anomalies he knew better than to get closer or touching them. Last thing he wanted was for his arm to end up on the other side of the digital world.

Colin grinned at Carlos. "Yeah, it's strange, I honestly don't really know how we got here, although it's easy to get lost in Terminus". It was a big city after all. "Should we continue to walk around for a bit? There's something about this place... it's not like anywhere I've seen in the digital world". It wasn't corrupt like he had heard in the Ancient Ruins and deep in the forest, but still, seemed... old. And broken somehow, but in a way that wasn't nearly like it was on Earth.
"So how long have you been here, Carlos?" Colin asked. "And has someone explained about digimon to you before?". Colin would be happy to tell him about what he was in for regardless.
Luke meanwhile was still a bit concerned with not only the digital anomalies around them, but by Dio's attitude to Bellamy. Eventually, the Elecmon whispered what he thought.
"I think you should go over and make a better impression" Luke told his brother. "To Dio I mean".
"Why? He's been a jerk to me since we met" Bellamy snapped back in a whisper.
"Yeah, but, he might not be able to help it?" Luke argued. "He could've had a tough life and might not be handling things well, you don't know what's going on in his mind, and you teasing him probably didn't help. Look, Bells, I know that technically you haven't done anything wrong, but... maybe reach out? Try and smooth things over? You're mature enough to do that I think".
Bellamy thought about it. Yes, if Luke hadn't reached out to him back then, he'd probably still be a dirty hoodlum on the streets of Terminus, resentful of the world around him. Maybe Dio needed someone like Luke to do that for him?
"Wouldn't it be better if you did it though? Since you did it before" Bellamy said.
"If I did it, he'd probably hate you even more, so, best if you did it" Luke said. Bellamy supposed that was true. So, he swallowed his ego and approached the other Impmon, hoping they'd be able to clear things up. If it worked, great, if it didn't, whatever. He scratched the back of his neck awkardly, then spoke.
"So, uh... I'd like to apologize for how I've been actin'" Bellamy said, the Impmon taking on a pained expression. This had to be honest. "I've been actin' rude even though I don't know you, so, sorry".
He couldn't think of much more to say than that. Luke and Colin watched, hoping a fight wouldn't break out. But, Bellamy was taking responsibility for all the hostility, so, maybe that will help make things better?

“Sure. Let’s see how deep the rabbit hole goes.” Carlos agreed with Collin in wanting to continue exploring around, his curiosity about what could be down there only matched by the small but really prevalent dread of finding out.
“Um, I’d say about two days, three tops.” He replied, almost sounding surprised with himself over having survived this long. “How about you?”
“Eh, thanks, but don’t worry ‘bout me. Dio already gave me the crash course on mostly everything that was digimon related…granted I don’t know just how thorough he really was, but I think I grasp most of the important stuff. Like how exactly he expects me to help him evolve. Heck, I’m not even sure how he did it the first time.” Not only he wasn’t entirely sure on how this whole digivolution thing worked, for what he had seen neither was Dio, as he wasn’t able to give him a good answer. Which was pretty unfortunate, seeing how apparently the only reason Dio had chosen not to abandon the young man to his own fate was because he knew Carlos held the key to getting stronger.
As they continued their descent Dio noticed the twins talking amongst themselves, quickly followed by Bellamy getting closer to him. He was expecting him to act all faux oblivious to him again, make some sort of comment possibly bragging about the apparent difference in power between the two. It was the only logical thing to expect after his earlier treatment of Bellamy. So to say he was surprised when he approached and apologized would be a huge understatement. He was flabbergasted.
“Tch, what are you even apologizing for, idiot? I’m the one that started this, not you.” He snapped back a bit shocked, but also almost sounding…angry. Just what was Bellamy playing at? Was it some sort of reverse psychology? Another convoluted joke to mess with him? He almost thought of laughing at him, making fun out of his (possibly false?) attempts at mending things but…for some reason that felt uncalled for. Almost wrong. What if he was being sincere?
This was a first for him, actually. Nobody had ever asked him for forgiveness over anything before. Much less for something that was clearly not their fault. To be honest, he was at a complete loss as to how he was supposed to react. For what was probably the first time in a long time, he managed to swallow his own pride long enough to reply. “… but, thanks I suppose. I’ll…accept your apology.” He said with a rather dramatic sigh after having been quiet for a good while, a faint blush appearing as he did so. Ugh, what had gotten into him? These humans were starting to make him go soft.
At least he wasn’t soft enough to admit it was him that started it…or at least not enough to ask for forgiveness.
“J-just don’t think this makes us friends or whatever, ok? Cause it doesn’t! The Dark Lord doesn’t have friends with anyone!” He was quick to add, quickly reverting to his earlier annoyed tone of voice to try and hide his sudden lapse of “weakness”.
Carlos, having overheared the whole exchange between digimon couldn’t help but chuckle to himself a bit. Maybe he had judged his partner too harshly, and Dio wasn’t completely irredeemable. Maybe there was still some hope left for him. He just had to find a way to reach him.

"About a year and a half" Colin answered Carlos. "It's been a heck of a time sometimes, but, I feel pretty happy I met these guys" he smiled at his partners. His life had been so much fuller with them around, and this happiness had moved into other parts of his life too, such as social activity and confidence.
So, Dio had already told him about the digital world? That was a relief. Even though Colin suspected that Dio might not have exactly the best advice for his partner. It seemed they were at a bit of a loss about evolution though. Colin would be happy to share, although he paid attention to his partners at this point. Then, seemingly out of repentance, Bellamy went up to Dio and apologized.
Dio seemed surprised by Bellamy's words. And Bellamy was equally surprised at Dio's words, that he admitted that he was the one to start hostilities. The Impmon didn't remark on this though, given that the purpose of this exercise was to cool things down between them.
Thankfully, Dio did accept his apology. Bellamy felt something like a breath of fresh air pass over him, as though all the tension was removed. "Okay then" he said, smiling. That was all that was needed to be said. But Dio insisted that it didn't mean they were friends or anything.
"Sure, if that's what you want" Bellamy said. Thinking it might be the time to make a gesture to go with the words, he extended his paw to shake, if Dio wanted. "So, no hard feelin's?" he asked.
Then, all of a sudden, before anyone could react, there was a great big flash of light in the air between Bellamy and Dio. Colin and Luke had to avert their gaze, it was so dazzling. Luke felt his fur stand on end from the static. Another data burst! Oh god, were the others okay?
The two looked at the place where Bellamy and Dio had been, and saw that both of them had disappeared. "Bellamy?!" Luke asked, rushing forward. The Elecmon began to panic. His twin brother... gone! "Oh god no! Where are they?!" he turned between Colin and Carlos, frantically. "That data burst... did they...?" he suddenly was horrified that something had happened to his twin.
Colin was staring at the ground in shock, then remembered that he still had his digivice. He pulled it out, then frantically accessed the radar screen. There was a white dot in the center, a red dot near that, and a purple dot off to the edge of the screen.
"It's alright, he's still alive!" Colin assured Luke. "That data burst... it must have teleported them somehow!"
"Oh god... I hope he's okay" Luke said. He looked up at the ceiling of the underground city, if only it was the clear sky then he could fly up and look, but, that wasn't a possibility here in the underground.
Meanwhile, Bellamy felt like something had zapped him. Was this Luke messing around? Did Dio do something? He realized he was on the ground. "...what just happened?" he asked, sitting up and looking around. He couldn't see Colin or Luke, or even Carlos. But Dio was a short distance away.
"Oh... no" he murmured, realizing what had just happened. These data anomalies, they had somehow zapped them away to another part of the underground. They were now located deep within Old Terminus, in an area even more warped and decrepit than before. "Dio, are you okay?" he asked the other Impmon.

Carlos couldn’t help but let out a whistle of awe upon hearing Collin’s reply. Year and a half…honestly he was impressed at himself for being able to even survive this long with such a limited knowledge over how this world worked, and yet this kid almost a decade younger than him had managed to not only survive for far longer, but apparently had fun while doing so.
Which probably meant that either surviving here was not as hard as he imagined it to be, or Collin was either stupidly lucky, or a certified badass. Or maybe it was all of the above, who could say? Meanwhile, the small megalomaniac Dio was, in his own way, slowly trying to make amends with Collin’s partner, even if it was “not his style”. As if wanting to make completely sure soon Bellamy asked if there were no more hard feelings between the two, even going so far as offering his paw for a handshake, a clear sign of good faith.
Dio couldn’t help but shoot him a slightly quizzical look. “…yeah, I guess not.” He soon replied with a shrug, apparently having gotten over their whole. His was a…rather overly simplistic way of making amends, certainly (Dio was a full supporter of a nice duel to clear up differences between opinions), but if it kept him from making more dumb jokes it was worth it. Just as he was extending his own hand to shake Bellamy’s however, something unexpected happened. First there was a disorienting, blinding flash of light, which caused even Carlos to avert his eyes, his sunglasses not helping against the bright light in the slightest.
A couple seconds later the light disappeared just as suddenly as it had come.It took Carlos almost a moment to even realize what just had happened…but he noticed immediately what was wrong. Neither Dio nor Bellamy were anywhere to be seen. “Oh shit. Shit shit shit...” The young man blurted out, his so far calm and collected demeanor slowly disappearing and letting a more worried, almost scared one show. “This is bad.” Where had the two imps gone to? Were they ok? What if they were in danger? That’s when Carlos felt that familiar feeling once again. That pressure on his chest, that small nausea on his stomach…that weird overprotective feeling towards his partner. The partner that did nothing but insult everything that surrounded him, his human companion included, and was all too eager to set fire to things out of boredom. The same partner that Carlos’ more rational self wanted to leave behind because of the potential danger he could bring. And yet…Carlos couldn’t help but felt attached to him somehow. Not just on an emotional level, but almost on a deep, almost spiritual one, as if a part of him was now missing.
He still didn’t understood why that was a thing, but that wasn’t important right now, finding their missing partners was, so he tried to push all those conflicting feelings aside and focus on the more important things. “Dude, we have to go find them! Can you tell how far are they from us?” He asked, quickly approaching Collin while trying to get a good look at his digivice’s radar.
Elsewhere, the small imp found himself lying on his back against the ground, the world spinning around him. He wasn’t sure what had just happened, but suspected it was probably Bellamy’s fault…somehow. “…s-sure, just peachy. You?” He replied back when he heard the other Impmon asking if he was ok, rubbing one hand against the side of his head as he did so. It was mostly true, as long as he ignored the fact he now was feeling a rather nasty headache. Just as he was about to question the other digimon if he was somehow responsible for his sudden migraine, his eyes finally caught sight of his new surroundings…and the complete lack of certain humans around.
“Oh…now that’s just great…” He let out a very annoyed sigh as he got up from the ground. If he had to hazard a guess, some sort of digital burst had transported them both elsewhere. Knowing that a similar anomaly just like this one had been the reason Dio was transported to the real world and met his tamer for the first time sure made this whole situation almost funny. The Digital World giveth and the Digital World taketh away. The irony was completely lost on Dio however, as more pressing matters took priority right now. Namely, where were they and how they could get out?
“…where even are we?”

Colin quickly went through everything he had to do here. While Bellamy was gone, Luke was still here, so at least he and Carlos weren't defenseless. Still, these data flares had so far proven to be very dangerous. Another once could send them all somewhere else in this dangerous underground.
"Well, we'd best stick together, that was if we get zapped we'll hopefully end up in the same place" Luke suggested. Colin agreed, and stood within a yard of Carlos. "Also if you get into trouble, hopefully I can hold them off" he added. His mega form, Fulminomon was a very powerful digimon, but, he hadn't yet fought without Bellamy backing him up before. This could be difficult.
Carlos then asked how far away Bellamy was. Colin frowned at the screen. What was the scale? He knew the direction, but not the distance.
"All I know is that they're in this direction" he said, pointing west. "So, let's go find them".
Colin wasn't in the mood to talk much more than that, not with the shock of losing his precious partner that quickly. Was he in danger? He stared at the digivice, hoping that purple dot wouldn't fade. Bellamy was a rough gem for sure, but, he always tried to be kind when treated with kindness in the first place. And, even though he put on a tough streetwise persona, the furry Impmon was very affectionate privately, him and Luke sleeping with Colin every night without a word of complaint. The thought of losing him was horrifying.
Bellamy meanwhile was trying to regain his bearings. Thankfully Dio was still conscious. "Eh... like I got concussion somehow, but, don't feel pain at all" he admitted.
Dio then asked where they were. Bellamy scrunched up his nose. The smell of decay and rust was rather prominent in this part of the old city. If anything, without Colin and Luke backing him up, the Impmon rather felt a little scared. But he wouldn't admit this just yet. He had to put on a brave face.
"We seem to be pretty far in..." he said, trying to make out any familiar landmarks, but couldn't find any. It was rather dark down here, other than for tall glowing pylons lining the street around them, several of them bent. Several buildings had collapsed completely, others seemed to be held up by bits of glowing data.
"Ohh... so you were taken by the glow too, yes?" a voice spoke. Bellamy turned with a start to see a rather crooked looking Shamamon approaching. He would've told him not to surprise them like that, but noticed that he seemed to be blind, or his eyes weren't working properly.
"Seems like it, so, where is this?" Bellamy asked.
"The place of banishment of course" the Shamamon said, giving a smile that was missing several teeth. "Where the wicked are sent by the glow to atone... The Tartarus! There is no escape!"
Bellamy was now convinced that this digimon was somewhat mad, but, guessed that he probably wouldn't be much more help than that. Slowly, he turned back to Dio, wondering what he made of this.

Carlos simply nodded as a response to Luke’s suggestion of sticking together, as well as Collin pointing the group in the general direction of the missing Impmons, too busy trying to stay calm to properly reply, still a bit incredulous at the quick and terrible turn of events. He wanted to reply with something witty, something that would lighten the mood somehow, but he simply couldn’t. He couldn’t get over just how easy it had been for he and Dio to get separated.
He was convinced it was just because he had gotten overly cocky for a moment, thinking he could brave the great unknown on his own without any plan, and maybe now his partner would pay the prize because of it. But as much as he wanted to just run in the general direction the imps supposedly were in right now, he knew better than to do something as stupid as separate himself from the group like that. As it stood, his life and possibly that of his partner was now completely on the (hopefully capable) hands of Collin and Luke. The best he could do was follow their instructions and try not to inconvenience them in any way.
The group swiftly made their way through the ruined city, slowly going deeper into the underground, the silence being interrupted only by their quick steps.
At the very least having the other two for company did made the young man feel a bit safer, as it did knowing that Dio wasn’t completely alone; though he was slightly concerned his partner’s rather abrasive personality would get the better of him and make things more difficult for both him and Bellamy. Frankly, he just hoped they could reach them in time before something bad happened.
Judging by the downright ruined and derelict look of the whole place (well…even more ruined) the furry Impmon’s assumption that they were now deeper within the old city was most likely correct.
This whole situation was…less than ideal, certainly, but he had been through worse. At least he certainly thought so. Plus while he wasn’t around his tamer, at least he still had backup in the form of Bellamy, who could probably hold his own on a fight…and if not he could always be used as a meat shield. He probably wouldn’t mind.
“Well, any good ideas on how to get out?” He asked, but before he could get an answer however, a Shamamon that had apparently been lurking around suddenly appeared. Dio hoped maybe the crooked digimon could say something of use but it quickly became clear it wasn’t the case. Tartarus? The wicked being sent to atone? The imp couldn’t help but shake his head at such nonsense.
“Tch, superstitious old coot.” Dio said folding his arms, visibly annoyed by the digimon’s ramblings, who was clearly too far gone to be of any help to them. It seemed being isolated here so long had done a number on his sanity. All the more reason for them to leave before the same could happen to them.
“Wicked or not, if I wanted to die in a dark and damp place, I would have stayed in the Dark Area. I’m out of here.” He said, as he conjured up a small fire on his finger tip to illuminate their surroundings a bit, then turned to face Bellamy. “Come on, fur ball; let us find a way out before the humans have a heart attack or something.” He said, as he started walking in a random direction away from the blabbering mad one, not too worried if the other Impmon would follow him or not.
