Even Dio couldn’t help but groan a bit at the nameless Impmon’s (admittedly accidental) lame comeback.
“Great, we’re going to be killed by a freaking illiterate. I’m already missing that Gesomon, I bet he could have held a much smarter conversation.” Dio snarked at the other impmon’s lack of knowledge on such a basic level knowledge. Even Dio knew what a stethoscope was, for Pete’s sake, and he wasn’t exactly the most knowledgeable digimon in regards of human stuff.
“Bellamy, you offend me.” He said, mock indignation in his tone. “I always back up what I say.” He quipped back, a confident smirk on his face. Well, most of the time he could at least, this time…he wasn’t so sure. The whole thing with the Gesomon had taken a bit of a toll on him. But he couldn’t let it show, else it could be the end of them both.
Unfortunately, the fact he was mostly bluffing was becoming more evident. His attack had barely pushed that Dracmon off him, and while the wound said digimon had left with his attack wasn’t a serious one, it was still a painful one.
Add that the fact that the nameless impmon had yet to even lift a finger, it seemed like the pair was doomed…until that appeared, floating ominously just behind the feral impmon. That digimon, that thing, it looked and felt unnatural, uncanny, even for a place like Old Terminus.
He almost wanted to slap Bellamy on the back of the head for yelling at their enemy to turn around. The bastard had started this fight! If he was too dumb to notice something like that looming behind him, he deserved to be killed.
And…killed he was, much to Dio’s shock. Not only that, he had been erased on such a level that it somehow stopped his regenerative cycle right then and there, destroying the egg before it even had a chance to form properly. And now the that the deceased impmon’s entourage had (wisely) decided to save their own lives and flee, the floating creature had his eyes set on a new target: Bellamy and Dio.
"What even this thing?!"
For the very short moment he locked eyes with the Gizmon, Dio felt something he hadn’t felt in a long while now. Fear, pure and raw. He had already faced with something one level higher than him just a couple minutes ago and yet this thing got a stronger reaction from him, actually strong enough to make the imp back away ever so slightly while his breathing became more frantic. If they screwed up, there wouldn’t be a second chance, the anomalous digimon would simply erase them from existence without remorse.
Luckily, Bellamy’s response was enough to snap Dio out of his fear, and giving him enough courage to stand his ground. Even if he wasn’t exactly sure what his companion’s command actually meant, he knew exactly what it entailed, and what he had to do. Despite his mind telling him against it, his ego, survival instinct and adrenaline kicked in first, forcing him to stay and fight to the bitter end. He started sending as much power as he could without running out towards both of his hands. He raised both open palms, the right one brandishing a fiery sphere, the left hand one made out of ice. In one swift movement he clapped both hands together, fusing both energies to create between his palms a slightly bigger, more unstable mass of pure dark energy in the shape of a small ball. This was his strongest attack, and while it would drain him considerably more than any other but he couldn’t take his chances, he saw what he was fighting against. He wasn’t going to hold anything back anymore.
If they wanted to live, that thing had to die.
“PRIMORDIAL BURST!” The imp bellowed out, sending the small ball of energy directly in the Gizmon’s direction, knowing if the attack actually managed to land it would at least cause some good damage.
Regardless if the move was successful or not, he could feel his vision blur for a moment, his head feeling faint soon after that, the ensuing wave of fatigue forcing him to kneel for a moment, one hand gripping at his forehead. He was running rather low on energy by now, which wouldn’t have been bad if it wasn’t for the fact he was spending more and more just attacks.
“D-did we get him?” He asked, looking at the purple blurry blob close to him that he assumed was Bellamy, panting ever so slightly. After that damage that thing had to be dead.
It had to be.

Battle Theme
Bellamy was terrified down to his digicore. He had never seen a digimon... die like that. This thing was an abomination. It had the power to take away the thing that digimon prized the most - their relative immortality. While the enemy Impmon had stated that he intended to absorb their data once he finished with them, this thing was no better. But still, the bearer of the Crest of Tenacity would not hesitate in the face of this danger. And it seemed thankfully he did so, because it encouraged Dio to act as well. As a volley of ice spears shot straight at the enemy, it seemed to struggle to aim again. It fired off a second beam, but it missed both Impmons that were attacking it. And under Bellamy's suppressing fire, it was unable to react to Dio's stronger attack, the Primordial Burst exploding right on the yellow death beam emitter, shattering it. The floating eye staggered in midair, but seemed to shudder with what Bellamy thought was anger. "Yeah... we got it" Bellamy said, but he had the feeling that was just a lucky shot. The floating eye was not dead yet. And even though it could no longer use its death beam, at least for the moment, the Impmon thought that wasn't the only thing it was capable of. And that two direct rookie attacks seemed to do little damage, he had to do something above and beyond it seemed to get out of this alive. "Dio, I'm gonna try and digivolve now" Bellamy said, all traces of mirth and impishness removed from his voice, he spoke seriously and clearly now. "I dunno if it'll work, but can you cover me?"With that said, Bellamy then focused inward. He had never evolved without Colin's help before, but with the terror in his digicore, he felt capable of it now. For a partner digimon to evolve without a digivice, it would take a lot of energy, but, he had to do this to get them out of here alive. Any second that death beam could be repaired, then that would be the both of them lost forever. Focusing, Bellamy managed to conjure the twin matchstick wands he would use in his upper form. Yes! He was doing it! The red and blue matchsticks burst to life, and Bellamy initiated his own digivolution. "Impmon... digivolve to...!" he waved the wands in a circle around himself, twice, leaving behind magical flames that gathered on his body. He grew another two feet - obtaining a flaming red hat, cloak, shorts and boots. Other than that, he still retained the purple and white fur he had as an Impmon, resembling an adult sized form of himself in a magician's outfit. "...Flawizarmon!" he finished. Yeah, he had digivolved, but at once he staggered, holding his head. That had taken up so much energy that he couldn't seem to make an attack this turn, he'd have to gather his energy. While he was doing this, the floating eye then launched another attack. It began rotating itself at high speeds, raising its razor sharp panels, becoming a flying buzzsaw that launched itself straight at Dio! "Dio! Watch out!" Bellamy yelled, hoping the Impmon could evade what was coming to him.

Of course, of course that infernal eye was still alive despite the damage received. Why wouldn’t it be? While it seemed the pair’s combined efforts had been enough to destroy the eyeball’s ray emitter and (hopefully) disable his digimon erasing attack, it was clear the threat was not still neutralized. And that it was very angry.
It seemed that Bellamy had a plan however, needing Dio to distract their opponent…so he could try to digivolve. After hearing this Dio couldn’t help but shoot a dubious look at the other impmon.
Was he really strong enough to evolve on his own? He was both separated from his tamer and his twin. If he had still that amount of energy that would be…actually kind of impressive for Dio to see. But even if it was a ruse to buy time, it was still their best chance at defeating the floating eye.
“Will do.” He said, standing on his feet again, looking at Bellamy for a moment as he added in a half joke, half deadly serious tone, “You better not be using me as bait to escape. Else I'll have to kick your ass as well.” With that he did the best plan he could come up with, or rather what most of his plans usually amounted to: running straight at the face of danger.
“Look here, you one eyed imbecile! The Dark Lord demands your attention!” He yelled as he quickly approached the floating digimon, somewhat knowing deep down how dumb of a plan this was, but willingly ignoring that fact. With one swift jump he positioned himself to the creature’s side, and once again gathering energy on his right hand he prepared his next move.
“Night of Fire!” In one quick motion he sent a small volatile fireball in the eye’s direction, inmediatelly regretting doing so as he could feel another migraine coming due to his over exhaustion. At least he hadn’t used the Fire Pillar, else he would have probably passed out by now.
The fireball exploded against its target, the eyeball not reacting or even flinching at the impact. It was enough for it to turn itself around to face Dio, which was good enough for him. He backed away a bit waiting for it to retaliate and try to redirect the eyeball’s attention further, when a flash of light caught the dark lord’s attention.
In a quick burst of flames, the furry impmon Bellamy had changed, growing taller and now wearing some orange wizard garbs, with two flaming matchstick looking wands to match. Either Bellamy had managed to do the quickest change of clothes ever (and find a pair of stilts) or he had actually managed to digivolve on his own. Dio couldn’t help but widen his eyes at this.
“Amazing…” The small rookie muttered out, sounding actually awestruck and impressed. Guess he really had underestimated Bellamy’s ability. This was not a moment to stare in awe however, he could gush over this later. “Great, now could you hurry up a bit? I could use some assistance!” He then yelled at the wizard, hoping with this they could finally shift the fight in their favor.
Unfortunately, he had been to distracted by this to notice the eyeball looming dangerously close to him. While he noticed his mistake after Bellamy’s warning came, as soon as he turned around it was too late for him to do anything, the spinning blades already bearing down on him.
“…crap.”
The deadly blade whirlwind slashed the imp across his chest, Dio letting out a pained yelp as he felt the blade cutting into him. The ensuing force of the blow was enough to send the purple rookie flying, crashing against a dilapidated wall, the impact raising a large cloud of dust. The the dust settled, revealing Dio lying on the ground, in clearly in pain but still refusing to stop fighting.
“I-is that the best you got?” He said, his mocking voice sounding shaky as he tried and failed to rise up to his feet. As much as he didn’t want to admit it, that last blow had really hurt, and not just his pride. Before he was even able to get back up however, the eyeball had caught up with him, staring down at his target his one cold, uncaring eye. It’s tentacles began to glow, electricity crackling from them as it slowly approached the fallen imp, looking to finish him up for good.

Bellamy shouted out with shock as Dio was struck by the enemy digimon. Such a heavy hit like that, one more might finish him off! Bellamy swore that he would not let that happen. Not only because Dio had saved his life only minutes earlier, but because he would never forgive himself if he let him fall to such a fate.
As the enemy digimon closed in, its tentacles sparking with electricity, Bellamy's red matchstick wand burst with fire, and he pointed it straight at the foe. "Razing Prominence!" he snarled, and a jet of fire erupted straight onto the strange mutant digimon, blowing it away from Dio.
The effort to stay in his higher form without Colin around was very taxing on the Flawizarmon. He panted as he rushed forward, standing between the floating eye and Dio. With the opponent stunned for the moment, Bellamy turned to his friend, then focused once more, both of his matchsticks now glowing with a green energy.
"I'll heal ya now" he said, not taking no for an answer. That blow had seriously damaged Dio, and Bellamy simply had to bring him back from the brink. "We'll get through this, I promise" he added, partly to reassure Dio, and partly to reassure himself. With that in mind, the green energy began to converge on Dio.
"Evergreen flame..." Bellamy incanted, but it would take a little while for the healing technique to work. Yes, he'd be vulnerable, but, he could take it, so he hoped.
But while he did this, the Gizmon had recovered from the effect of Bellamy's fire attack. While its synthetic hull showed burn marks, it was still alive and able to fight. And thus it rushed at Bellamy, its electrified tentacles twitching angrily, until at last, it lashed out at him with them.
"AAAAAGH!" Bellamy yelled, his body convulsing with shock and pain. While he knew something like this would happen - that he'd be vulnerable while healing Dio and that he had little choice in the matter, this thing had a sting that felt like a hundred hot knives. But Bellamy was a Champion level here, he could take it, for the time being.
"We'll... get... through this!" he repeated to Dio, speaking through clenched teeth as he continued his healing technique. As the Gizmon came back for a second round, all Bellamy could do was send a weak punch to get it away. He hoped that Dio was well enough to continue combat now.

As awed as he was to see the floating eyeball be pushed away by Flamewizardmon’s jet of fire, what really took Dio by surprise was seeing the wizard making a break towards him. Even through the pain, Dio still found both the strength and gall to refuse help, both out of his bloated sense of pride, and, as much as he hated to admit it, out of concern for the other digimon, not wanting him to waste precious energy on healing him while the enemy was still looming close.
“D-don’t you dare-” but before he could finish that sentence, the Flamewizardmon was already tending to his wounds, a green energy emanating from his wands and seeping into his open wounds. He could feel the pain slowly but surely melt away and some of his fatigue receding as the healing energy filled his body.
Unfortunately, Bellamy was too busy healing him to notice the Gizmon suddenly approaching for an attack, lashing at the wizard before Dio even had a chance to warn him…and yet despite the pain and damage received, Bellamy didn’t stop healing the injured Dark Lord, much to his protests.
“N-no! Stop this you idiot, at this rate you’ll get killed!” He ordered, his tone sounding not so much indignant and angry as…worried. He didn’t want Bellamy to get hurt just for his sake. That didn’t stop the healing however, and soon after the energy would finally stop glowing just as Dio…didn’t feel any more pain.
He rubbed his hand against his chest for a moment, checking for wounds. He let out a relieved sigh: not even a scar, Bellamy’s healing had worked perfectly, even if he had to take a hit just to do it.
He sighed a bit in relief, before looking up at the wizard, his tone for once filled with nothing but sincerity as he said two words he never thought he’d be using in the same sentence.
“…thanks, Bellamy.”
For once since a long, long time, it wasn’t a forced thanks, something he had to say just out of obligation, nor had he felt ashamed for receiving aid in a time of need (even if he still felt responsible for not dodging that last attack). Yes, for the first time in forever, Dio was completely and genuinely thankful to someone else. Bellamy had risked his hide just for his sake, when it would have been so much easier to just run and leave him for dead.
Regardless of this fight’s outcome, he would not forget this. "I...guess we're even."
There would be more time to celebrate and be thankful later however as once again the Gizmon came back for more. Would that thing never stop coming?
Filled with outrage over being thrown around, as well as anger over hurting Bellamy while he was defenseless, the imp rose to his feet, shooting the armored eyeball a glare of pure hatred.
“Leave us. The hell. Alone!” He roared, sick of having to deal with this obnoxious creature. Running once again at the eyeball, just before it looked like he would go for a direct attack, the imp rolled under the mutant digimon, positioning himself carefully so as to keep those deadly tentacles from reaching him. He wasn’t going to let Bellamy heal him yet again. Sending his remaining energy to his whole left arm, the limb soon glowed with intensity and caught on fire. Dio let out a furious roar as he slammed his fist against the ground.
“PILLAR OF FIRE!!!” A moment later, a large fiery column would engulf the impmon…and if everything worked out it would also get the Gizmon too, who would hopefully be too busy trying to escape the attack to notice Bellamy’s follow up attack…at least Dio hoped it would play out like that, but considering he didn’t tell the other digimon of his plan, he would have to trust Bellamy to know what to do.

Bellamy ignored Dio's protests as he proceeded with the healing. Yes it might be damaging to his pride, but, Bellamy did not want to see his tamer and tell him the news that Dio was killed - disintegrated completely like that wild Impmon just moments ago. He didn't want to face Colin and Luke and tell them that there was nothing he could do, because, this was what he could do. And he'd damn well do it!
As Dio snarled at him to stop, Bellamy tried his best to hide his pain. "Heh, gonna take a lot more than that to finish me off!" he bragged, although he was clearly still shivering from pain, one eye half closed as he desperately tried to cope with the electrocution, maintaining his concentration.
Eventually, it seemed that it was over. Dio had been healed, and Bellamy panted as he lowered his wand. That thanks he got from Dio, even with as much pain as it took for him to say that, he smiled.
"No problem" he replied, then turned once again to face the Gizmon. He needed just a moment to gather himself, but it seemed Dio took the initiative here. The newly healed Impmon began to launch a very powerful attack indeed, creating an explosion of fire right around the synthetic digimon.
Bellamy understood what was happening though. Dio's attack, while flashy, would only be effective in driving the enemy away. And that was when he was ready. Bellamy then jammed the ends of his two matchstick wands together, ignited both the red and the blue flames, began to spin them around like a conductor's baton on a parade, then, when the Gizmon instinctively flew back from Dio's assault, was when he threw his attack.
"Catherine Wheel!" Bellamy yelled, and launched the spinning baton directly at the Gizmon. The red and blue fire combined, and formed a powerful violet explosion, thankfully not powerful enough to hurt Dio, but struck the Gizmon directly.
The wands magically soared back through the air toward the Flawizarmon, but as he caught them, he staggered, suddenly feeling light headed and exhausted. He fell to one knee, panting, then, to his horror, he glowed with energy once more, shrinking. His wands vanished, his outfit changed back to just his t-shirt, scarf and gloves, and it seemed he had returned to the rookie level.
"Damn it..." he muttered. He wished he could have stayed evolved longer, but it seemed that he only had three good attacks when evolving without Colin's help. However, he would force himself to stand back up, limping over to Dio, hoping they had achieved success together. Had the Gizmon been fatally damaged?
As the smoke cleared, the Gizmon was still moving. Bellamy's jaw dropped with shock. How? How could they have failed?!
Bellamy then gave a small, quiet whimper as furthermore, the Gizmon's red death beam emitter seemed to flash again. Had it... could it self repair?! Was it going to attack them again?! For one fleeting moment Bellamy wanted to break down, but he prevented himself. No. He would not act like that in front of Dio. If they were gonna die, they'd die standing.
"I'll break left, you break right, we'll keep attacking" he muttered. He wanted to say more, like "it was an honor fighting with you..." but no, they were losing words. And Bellamy would not ever accept that until the very end.
Then, all at once, the sound of an energy beam, then the crash of an explosion sounded. Bellamy flinched, thinking it was aimed at them, but it was not. The beam fired was blue, and it smashed right into the Gizmon's hull, piercing straight through it. At once, the enemy digimon stopped floating, then fell straight to the ground, seemingly dead.
"Bellamy!" a familiar voice shouted. Bellamy looked up and saw the glorious red and white digimon before them.
"...Luke?!" Bellamy asked, his voice a mix of relief and disbelief. His brother had saved them! The Dynammon approached, glancing down at the Gizmon's crumpled body.
It seemed to be still moving, but that all ended when Luke aimed his blaster at it, muttered "Thundercast" and destroyed it in a shower of purple and green data. Not even an egg was left behind. Luke then knelt in front of his brother, seeing his fur wet, his body trembling with shock.
"My god, Bells, what happened...?" Luke asked, grasping his shoulder. Not far behind him were their tamers. It seemed they had just arrived in time. Bellamy wanted to explain, but in this state, he was momentarily speechless. It seemed everything was over.

Bellamy’s effort to keep his composure while being both reassuring and somewhat struck a chord with Dio. Even if none of them ever said so out loud, it was obvious that they were rather similar deep down, and not just on the surface level for being the same species. It was almost like looking into a mirror…if your reflection looked somehow more flattering than the real thing.
Despite seemingly having recovered some of his energy thanks to Bellamy’s healing powers, he could already feel himself tired as the fire shot into the air, engulfing his form and forcing the Girmon above to retreat. Luckily he didn’t had to maintain it for much longer, as Bellamy was quick with his follow up attack, which caused a powerful purple explosion against the accursed eyeball. Just in time too, as Dio was forced to stop the stream of fire a moment later, his energy running the risk of completely running out and sending him back to the In Training level if he didn’t stop, which would have been all manner of humiliating and problematic for them.
Dio shot a glance at Bellamy, noticing how he had gone back to his rookie form. Even he had reached his limit. But at least things were over now, right?
If only.
The smoke from the attack soon cleared, revealing that the Gizmon, while hurt, was still very much still alive.
“Oh, come on…” Dio muttered out, incredulous. How was that thing still kicking?! They had thrown everything they had at it and it was still not enough. And as if to throw salt in the wound, he could notice a red, ominous flash appearing on the eyeball once again. Could it be…his death beam was operational again?!
“OH COME ON!” He practically yelled this time, more angry and annoyed that anything else. Was there really nothing they could do to beat this thing?
Things looked bad, but he would rather die than admit defeat. And it seemed Bellamy shared that sentiment, as he was quick to tell Dio of the closest thing to a battle plan they had at the moment, separate and keep attacking.
“Eh, I’ve heard worst plans before.” Sure, it wasn’t overly complicated, and to be honest after everything they had done, Dio doubted it would help them any…but it was preferable than to lie down and wait for death.
Before they could enact what would probably be their last desperate attempt at survival, this blue beam of pure energy came out from the side, piercing the Gizmon and sending it plummeting down to the ground. Turning to face the direction of the attack Dio was surprised to see what resembled a tall Elecmon, covered with armor, a big dynamo wheel on his back and wielding two large guns. Dio was already fearing the worst, but luckily their savior’s identity was revealed when he addressed Bellamy by name, the furry Impmon doing the same inmediatelly. Dio couldn’t help but let out a relieved sigh as he soon saw two familiar humans not too far from the Dynnamon: at last, their partners and Bellamy’s brother had finally found them. And not a second too soon.
“Tch, what took you three so long?” The imp somewhat jokingly said after Luke finally finished the eyeball off for good. Dio then let himself fall down on his rump, sitting down as he panted heavily. He felt exhausted and only wanted to sleep for the whole day now…but was still alive, and that’s all that mattered to him.
Meanwhile Carlos was both relieved over seeing both partners still in one piece, and shocked over their state. Just what had they gone through? “Dio, are you ok? What the hell happened?” Carlos said as he knelt down in front of his partner, his tone filled with worry.
“Oh, you know, mad old people spouting nonsense, a very angry Gesomon, a bunch of very aggresive illiterates looking for trouble, that...thing. Just the usual, everything trying to kill us...” He shrugged, trying to seem unfazed, even though he was still visibly shaking. He would then point at the other Impmon, “He…kinda saved my ass…and I saved his…not necessarily in that order...”
“I see…” The man nodded, gently placing a hand on the imp’s shoulder. “Forgive me for this.”
“For wha-“ The imp was interrupted as he was suddenly hugged by the tall human, his arms easily wrapping around the small digimon. Said hug went by as suddenly as it came, the man quickly releasing the bemused imp who simply stared at him with a confused expression.
“Sorry, it’s just…you had me worried sick.” Carlos said with an awkward chuckle. Try as he might, he was still a softie deep down. He then turned around to look at Colin and the others. "Everything alright on your end?"

As Luke arrived on the scene, the first thing he saw was this strange floating eye. Then, he saw two Impmons facing it - one was his white bellied brother, the other was the other Impmon they had met before. At once he was glad that they were alive, but he could see the fear on their faces, could sense that they were geared up for battle, could feel in his digicore that this floating enemy was something that made Bellamy terrified.
It was this feeling, not only that, but the sense that Bellamy was in real danger that had made him draw his Thundercast blaster and destroy the floating eye digimon instantly. Then he walked forward when the threat was passed, asking if his brother was okay.
He recognized him, which was great relief. He paused to look at the digimon he had just eliminated. The digimon still seemed to be moving, so Luke shot it again without a second thought, finally ending it.
Luke then turned back to Bellamy, glad to see his brother again. But he felt at once that Bellamy was both wet all over and trembling with fear. This surprised him, since Bellamy was one of the bravest digimon he knew, and if something had terrified him this much then it was a truly frightening thing.
He then turned to Dio has he explained things to his tamer. "Gesomon? Killing?" he repeated, looking at Bellamy, wanting to know the full story. Colin by now had arrived at their side. Bellamy certainly didn't mind Colin hugging him like a soft toy. In fact he let out all his terror in a muffled scream into Colin's chest. This surprised his tamer, but at the very least it got Bellamy back to his normal self.
But first, they noticed that Bellamy was somewhat injured. Colin nodded to Luke, who modified the settings of his gun so that instead of energy blasts, it fired a healing green aura. "Here, Bells" he said, and healed his brother. Bellamy felt his pain and injuries disappear at once, giving a relaxed sigh.
"It's all true" he said, nodding at Dio. "We were flashed back somewhere in the ruins, we met some weird digimon that told us that it was the Tartarus. We followed your signal, then we had to cross a river".
"You still can't swim though" Luke pointed out. Bellamy nodded.
"That's where he saved my life" he said. "Dio not only got me across, but, he fought off a Gesomon to do that. And for that I owe him a drink at the Caritas". There, he said it in front of witnesses.
"Well... okay then" Colin said, still underage and couldn't appreciate this. "What next? What was that thing that you were fighting?"
"In a moment..." Bellamy said, struggling with this next part. "We were ambushed by three digimon, an Impmon, DemiDevimon and Dracmon, they said they wanted to absorb our data because we're partners to humans... we tried to fight 'em off but they outnumbered us. Then... that... thing appeared" he pointed at the scorched concrete where the floating eye was. Colin and Luke were silent given how distressed Bellamy was about it, he then spat it out.
"That thing kills digimon!" he said. "And I mean... kills us! Like how humans die! It shot the Impmon and his egg just shattered! He's dead forever! And that almost happened to us!"
Luke gasped. No wonder Bellamy was scared. He had seen a digimon like himself die with no chance of reincarnation.
"Oh my god..." he breathed. Then he came to a conclusion. "We have to get outta here. That thing... I can't believe something like that exists. Who would make such a thing?"
"Someone intent on wiping out digimon forever?" Colin asked, equally as disturbed. "Either way, this part of the city. It's too dangerous. We have to arrange to close it off".
"Easier said than done" Luke said. Bellamy meanwhile was glad to see Carlos hug Dio. Even though he had seen the Impmon be rather brisk with his partner before, he was glad that he was able to take such a thing. There was nothing wrong with being shown care.
"Either way, now that we're together, we can probably head outta here now" he said, drawing a red card from his pocket. While Bellamy was exhausted and probably couldn't evolve again, Luke was still rearing to go. Then, Colin slashed the card through his D-Arc.
"Digimodify! Mega Evolution Activate!" he said, then Luke glowed with a strong light.
"Dynammon... digivolve to...!" he transformed from the Wargrowlmon variant into a Magnamon variant. Jet powered wings formed at his shoulders - his armor transformed from a simple chest-forearm-lower leg format to a helm, chest armor, waist armor and boots. "...Fulminomon!"
Colin then nodded at Carlos and Dio. "Luke can take us out of here in a jiffy. Are you alright to come with us?" he asked. He kinda wished he had a digiport function on his D-Arc, but, that was a thing for another time most likely.

Dio continued looking at his tamer with a puzzled expression, as if unable to place why Carlos had that reaction upon seeing him again. It felt…very unlike him, and very misplaced, he had never given the man a good reason to care for him. And yet he couldn’t bring himself to be upset about it, finding the man’s reaction actually comforting.
“Yeah ok…just don’t make it a habit.” He said, scratching his head while looking to the side, as if to avoid looking at the man.
As Bellamy properly recounted the events leading up to this moment, Carlos kept quiet while listening, up until the whole Gesomon incident was mentioned, where he would turn to look at Dio, eyes slightly widened in surprise. So Dio had actually saved them both?
“Wow, so you really did that? Heh, I’m proud of you, Dio.” He said with a smile, sounding genuinely happy. Hearing that his partner, the self proclaimed dark lord, the same digimon that had been happy to fight a couple of twins just for a few pieces of pork, had actually risked his life to save someone other than himself.
Maybe he had judged the little digimon too soon, perhaps he wasn’t just looking out to save his own skin.
The imp nodded, and not wanting to leave Bellamy without some credit would then chime in, “Yeah…but Bellamy did heal my wounds and took a blow for me, so…I guess the dark lord is paying for the snacks at Caritas.” The imp shrugged, downplaying the whole ordeal a bit as if it were nothing big.
That smug attitude disappeared as soon as the eyeball was brought up again however, making Dio’s expression turn grim. That was something that troubled even the usually impervious Dio.
“Jesus…” Was all that Carlos could say in a horrified tone once Bellamy was done explaining. Even with his limited knowledge of digimon, he was aware that the usual rules of life and death that applied to living beings on the Earth didn’t exactly worked like that here, so it was easy to understand why both partners would be so shaken up after having to fight a creature that outright ignored the rules of this world like that.
And despite how well Dio was hiding it, Carlos could tell that last encounter had shaken him as much as it had Bellamy, as the “dark lord’s” whole body seemed to shudder every time that weird creature was mentioned. Carlos instinctually reached to reassuringly pat the imp’s back, something that earned him an annoyed glare from the digimon, but also seemed to stop the shaking a bit.
“Well, you two have some major balls being able to stand up to something like that and still come out on top, so there’s that.” He said, trying his best to cheer both of them up a bit. Yet as much as he tried to ignore it, creeping feeling of dread kept invading his mind as a small foreboding thought came up after that explanation.
What if there were more of those things lurking down there in the old ruins?
Knowing it was better not to sour the mood even more, the man kept that foreboding thought to himself. Not too long after Colin would draw another card, making Luke evolve yet again into a bigger, more armored form that seemed capable of flight, if those jet wings were of any indication, and the boy would offer to take the whole group back to the surface.
“Sure, if you guys don’t mind giving us a lift. Dio?” He asked, turning to his partner, hoping his pride wouldn’t get in the way of a quick exit. Thankfully, while the idea of being carried out of the place wasn’t exactly thrilling, the imp knew better than to complain. Never look a gift Unimon in the mouth, and all that.
“Yeah I don’t care; I just…want to leave this hole already.” He said, the exhaustion in his voice almost palpable.
“Fair enough, then let’s get out of this joint.” He said with a nod, approaching the recently evolved Luke. Dio followed behind him, walking slowly while gripping at his head.
“You sure you’re ok?” Carlos asked turning around, sounding a bit worried. If needed he would not hesitate to carry the small digimon around. Poor guy had had his life threatened over three times that day, both he and Bellamy deserved a break.
“Yeah, I’m just a bit tired, that’s all.” He replied, frankly getting just a bit fed up with everyone offering him help. “I can take care of myself, you know, I’m no in training.”

Bellamy was somewhat satisfied to hear that Dio mentioned his actions too. While at the time he had felt them perfectly logical - while he as a Champion could take hits better than Dio as a Rookie, well, in that moment, he had found that he had genuinely wanted to protect Dio from electrocution from the Gizmon, thinking he didn't deserve such a result.
Carlos then remarked at their feats with praise, although something came to him with confusion. "Balls?" he repeated, tilting his head with confusion, then remembered human slang. "Ah! Right, those things that humans have"
"Male humans" Luke corrected him.
"Yeah, whatever" Bellamy said, shrugging. Then Colin evolved Luke to a form that could fly them out of here. And Bellamy would gladly take it.
"Okay... this might be a bit tricky since I haven't carried two humans and two digimon before, but, don't wriggle around and we'll get there, okay?" Luke said. With that, he held Colin and Bellamy firmly in one arm, then Carlos and Dio firmly in the other. When he was sure they were secure, the jets on his wings ignited, then he leapt upward and into the air, flying at speed through the derelict twisted city that was Old Terminus.
He returned to their origin, the entrance street. And once they were landed, the stagnant air of Old Terminus was replaced with the mixture of emissions from New Terminus above. With that last journey, it seemed they were now safe.
"Whew... we made it" Luke said, letting his passengers down gently. Bellamy held off on the urge to kiss the ground of the surface, instead turning to the other Impmon.
"Hey, Dio..." he said hesitantly, before smiling. "Heh, you're alright, ya know that?" he asked, then raised his paw in an offer for a friendly fistbump. Colin noticed this, grinned, then turned to Carlos, taking something from his own pocket.
"Ah, right, Carlos, did you get a thing like this when you got your digivice?" he asked, taking out his D-Terminal, which as far as he knew was a device that automatically came with the digivice. "Either way, I reckon we could exchange details. It's like a cellphone I guess, just it works anywhere on the digital world".
He supposed that this would be a nice thing, since Colin had got along well with Carlos and he could tell that Bellamy and Dio wanted to meet again.

“Heh, right, forgot you guys don’t really have those…I think.” Carlos chuckled to himself a bit. Sometimes it was hard to remember they were still creatures from completely different worlds and as such didn’t have such a grip on human slang…except the few exceptional cases that did. “What are these ”things that only male humans have” nonsense?” Dio asked. He obviously did not fall on that latter cathegory. Carlos coughed awkwardly for a moment before replying, “…yeah how about I tell you about it later, alright bud?” There would be better moments to discuss human anatomy later…or if Carlos could choose, preferably never. Regardless of that, they were all soon carefully picked up by Luke and carried all the wait back out of that dank crypt. Luckily the flight back was largely uneventful, other than the mild vertigo Carlos experienced for a moment once he made the mistake of looking down. Other than that, it didn’t took the group long before they were back to entrance street to Old Terminus, the sunshine of the outside world beaming brightly just a few steps away. “Ah, beautiful sunlight, how I missed you!” Carlos explained as they landed softly on the ground, a smile of sweet relief on his face. Dio turned to face Bellamy, slightly taken by surprise by his words, as well as perplexed for a second over his body language. Why was he raising his hand that way? Only after a moment of thinking did he realize he was offering one of those so called “fist bumps”. Dio had never even thought of expressing camaraderie in such a way…but he decided to humor the other digimon. After all they had gone through together, it seemed fitting. Without hesitation, the purple demon closed his hand into a fist as well, lightly tapping it against Bellamy’s. “Hmph, you’re alright too Bellamy…for a peasant.” He said with a smirk, though judging by his tone he was mostly just joking around. Indeed he had now grown to respect the other digimon, down to considering him an equal. He wouldn’t go as far as calling him a friend…but he was certainly an ally. Or a very, very close acquaintance at worst. However, he then turned for a moment to look at Luke, his expression turning a bit more serious. “Hey. You take good care of your brother.” He said at the red digimon…before promptly looking rather confused at himself. Why did he said that just now? Well, he didn't want to see Bellamy die or get hurt, of course, but there was something more to it. As if...it felt like the right thing to say somehow. "I mean, brothers are supposed to look after each other, right?"
Dio soon gripped at his head, feeling his headache getting worse before he could finish that thought. Maybe he really needed to lay down for a bit. Blushing just a bit in confusion, he quietly made his way back to Carlos' side, looking at the ground not saying a word. “Huh, I didn’t know that’s what this thing is for.” Carlos mused when Colin mentioned exchanging information, taking out his own D-Terminal from his pocket, glancing at it curiously before looking back at Colin. “But sure, we should keep in touch. That way we could all get together and have a nice drink or something. Preferably on a nicer place though, I think I had enough of underground ghost towns for a while.” After the two humans had exchanged contact details, the man put the device back on his pocket. “Well, that was…well I wouldn’t say fun as much as stressful, but it was a nice change of pace.” He said rather nonchalantly, scratching his chin a bit. He then smiled a bit, shooting a quick glance at the dark underground before looking back at the other three. “…glad you guys were around for it though, I doubt we would have gotten back without your help.” He said with a nod and a sigh, sounding almost regretful things had gone the way they did. “Welp, I suppose this is where we part ways.” He said, offering his hand to Colin for a handshake. “Got a whole new world to explore and all that.” “Indeed, and the dark lord needs to become more powerful!” Dio added, folding his arms with a smug smirk. Carlos simply rolled his eyes and continued. “Probably gonna head south like you suggested, see what happens.” He shrugged, as he started to make his way out to the surface, Dio walking close by. “See you guys around, and sorry for causing trouble!” He said, waving back at them one last time, as they walked away. "And try not to get yourselves killed." The duo soon found themselves back to the bustling street, and after settling down for a quick rest and a stop to eat something they were soon en route towards the South (or at least Carlos hoped it was South), in the general direction of the city of Whitewater. While neither Carlos nor Dio knew what to expect from that trip, there were only two things for certain. The first one, it was that no matter how bad things went, they were still going to be in a better situation than being stuck in that hell hole underground. The second one was something that, despite the fact that Dio would certainly deny it if asked, it was something they both agreed on: They were both glad to have met the other three when they did.

Luke raised a claw to his chin and smiled a bit awkwardly as he realized what he had said had only made matters a little worse. But thankfully the subject of human anatomy could be passed over for the moment.
Bellamy smirked as Dio returned the fist bump, being called a peasant in the process. "Ah well, peasant power baby!" he said, in too good of a mood to be bothered by being called that, making a fun gesture with his paw.
What Dio said next was a bit out of left field though. Bellamy's smirk faded at the seriousness, then looked over to Luke, who was currently de-digivolving back to his Elecmon form now that things were safe. "Hm? Of course, I always look out for Aniki, although he looks out for me more" he said, using the Japanese word for 'big brother'. Even though Bellamy was a few inches taller than Luke, it was Luke who was the steadying force in his life, the one that Bellamy could always turn to. Of course, if ever Luke needed help, Bellamy would be there for him in return.
"You okay?" he asked as Dio seemed to suddenly get a headache, but asked no more as Dio remained silent. He supposed it was a private matter.
Carlos then seemed to be happy to exchange details. "I know just the place" Colin said, smiling. "The Caritas in Whitewater, that's a great place to hang out... hopefully there won't be any incidents there like there was last time though".
"That's a story for another time of course" Bellamy quickly cut in, not wanting that particular story shared for now.
For now, it seemed like it was time to part ways. "Okay, see ya later, and good luck out there" Colin said, shaking Carlos's hand. It seemed that their perils for the moment were over. Bellamy and Luke waved as they departed.
"Okay then, let's head over to the airship port" Colin said after they had left. "I think we'd better report this to Koharu and Yuu... Old Terminus is very dangerous and we should do what we can to contain it".
"Yeah, that's right" Luke said, not forgetting the look of fear on Bellamy's face as he was fighting that Gizmon. And Bellamy would never forget what he saw down there - the sight of a digimon truly dying. Old Terminus for now was a very dangerous mystery - one he was reluctant to go back to, but, he knew that inevitably they'd go back there.
And so the trio returned to their airship digimon Daedalus the Heliodramon, which would carry them to the southeast to their home on the Binary Archipelago. And from there, well, they weren't sure.
