Things were not looking up for the militia at the outpost. Woodmon is on a rampage, Kuwagamon is too injured to battle, Kunemon is not about to put himself in harm's way, and the normally passive Terriermon has been forced to step up and confront the much tougher Virus Digimon. Woodmon cackles and throws another round of 'shroom grenades, rocking the tower.
"Wha ha ha! I've been waiting to knock that smug look off your face, Terriermon."
Woodmon extends his arm out, the branches wrapping around Terriermon and lifting him up. Suddenly the tree Digimon feels something pecking the side of its head, as a crow rapidly pecks the wood like a woodpecker.
"Argh! What is this?"
Woodmon tries swatting the bird with a branch. Three more crows swoop down, circling the Champion level. The crow that was pecking Woodmon joins them, and even takes a poop on the tree. Woodmon tries to hit the crows with his branch, but they are too agile. A loud caw can be heard coming from nearby. Suzamon swoops down, landing on the tower.
"What's going on here?"
"Nyeh, it's you again! Remember me, bird brain?"
Woodmon lets go of Terriemon and tosses them aside. The Rookie lays there on the ground, groaning in pain.
"Terriermon! I'm going to make you pay, bandit. Don't think your new form is going to scare me. BWAHRK!"
Suzamon summons her psychic blade and goes for a strike, but Woodmon swats her away with his trunk-like arm. Ravenna rises up, wiping some blood from her mouth. Charging in isn't going to work. She would need to use her head. Ravenna extends her arm out and fires a Psychic Blast, sending a large stone that had fallen off from the tower hurdling towards Woodmon. The projectile hits the living tree in the face.
"Hey, that hurts! You've been getting in the way long enough! I should have finished you off during the raid last night. Take this!"
Woodmon hurls a large mushroom bomb at Ravenna. She goes to dodge, but the resulting blast sends her flying forward. Woodmon grabs Raye with his branches and lifts her up. The branches wrap around her waist, as well as her arms and legs. Ravenna tosses and turns, trying to free herself.
"Urghh, let me go!"
Ravenna's crows peck at Woodmon's face, distracting the Champion. Ravenna manages to free her right arm, and resummons her psychic blade. She stabs the blade into Woodmon's arm, using her Energy Syphon technique to steal Woodmon's energy. Woodmon starts to lose his grip. Having freed her arms, Suzamon takes the blade out, changing the blade into the shape of an axe, and starts hacking away at the trunk. After a few good swings, she severs Woodmon's arm off. The bandit shrieks in pain. Ravenna frees herself from the branches.
"You bitch! Look what you've done!"
"So I'm a bitch, am I? That's just one jerk's opinion. Let me ask you something. if a tree loses a battle in the forest, does it make a sound? Let's find out."
Ravenna dashes towards Woodmon and swings her psychic axe, channeling her psychic energy through it. The violet weapon emits a sharp blast of energy, slicing through Woodmon's face down the middle. Woodmon's body fades into data, and blows away in the wind. Only a Digitama is left behind. Ravenna hurries over to Terriermon.
"Terriermon, are you going to be alright?"

Ravenna holds Terriermon in her arms. His wounds are quite severe. The Rookie looks up at the Spirit Wielder.
"Oh, Ravenna. I'm so glad you're here. That stupid bandit banged me up pretty good." "I'm sorry I couldn't have been here when he attacked. Woodmon did a lot of damage to the outpost. I can't believe it, you actually stepped in and battled." "I didn't have much choice. Kuwagamon is in no condition to fight, and Kunemon was no help at all!
The Spirit Wielder reverts back to her human form. Raye reaches into her bag and takes out the herbs.
"Here are the herbs for Kuwagamon. It wasn't fun getting them. Are you able to treat his injuries?" "My injuries will fade. He needs the herbs for his burns."
Ravenna takes Terriermon into the tower. Kuwagamon is laying on a bed. Terriermon takes the herbs and sets them down on a table. He had been preparing a potion to use on Kuwagamon. Terriermon mixes the herbs in with the remedy. He pours some on a cloth and applies it to Kuwagamon's burns. The big red insect lets out a small roar in pain, then a low-pitched sigh. Terriermon takes another rag and offers it to Ravenna.
"Here, you should learn some basic first aid."
Ravenna tends to Kuwagamon's wounds with Terriermon. The insect raises his head up and emits a cheerful roar. His injuries are starting to heal. Terriermon sets the rag down and slumps down in his chair. Kunemon's head slowly pops down from upstairs.
"Is it safe now? Did Woodmon win?" "Well, if it isn't Kunemon the Magnificent? You yellow bellied coward!"
Kunemon crawls down the stairs and stands on the table.
"Hey, as the leader of the militia, I am vital to this operation. I couldn't let this beautiful face get a scratch during the attack."
Ravenna walks over to Kunemon and slaps him across the face, leaving a red mark.
"What the hell, you crazy bird girl?!" "You seriously hid in the bathroom when your base was being attacked?! What kind of a leader are you?" "He's worried about a scratch. I'm covered in scrapes and bruises. Oi, this is why I don't fight."
"How dare you hit my glorious face? You've doomed us all, Ravenna. With Woodmon defeated, the bandit leader is going to know where we are at. He probably sent Woodmon here to investigate. When Woodmon doesn't return, BlackGrowlmon is going to come here with a full platoon of mons. Oh, this is bad! This is very bad!"
"Well there's nothing we can do about that now. What we should be doing is repairing the outpost." "You still need your rest, Terriermon. I doubt BlackGrowlmon will be here any time soon."
Kunemon was right to be worried. The outpost is in no condition for another attack. They would need to get building supplies, and the bandits have all of the trade routes under their control. The group rests, and Kuwagamon starts feeling better. He feels well enough to make dinner. They spend a very somber evening together. The stars are starting to come out, and they are getting ready to go to sleep. The group is sitting around the campfire. Terriermon lets out a yawn, and stretches his arms out.
"Boy, what a day. I'm ready to get some shuteye." "Alright. Have a good night, Terriermon." "Goodnight, Raye. Thanks for saving our bacon. You're going to go far, kid."
Terriermon heads inside to tower to get ready for bed. Kuwagamon has gone to bed already. Ravenna is getting ready to check in for the night, when Kunemon gets her attention.
"Psst! You said you wanted to help, right? Well I know where some of the bandit camps are at. I even know a way to get inside their main camp. BlackGrowlmon will probably attack tomorrow, possibly at night. We've got nothing to lose."
"You mean you want to launch a sneak attack? Ya, let's stick it to those bandit scumbags."

Ravenna was finally getting her chance to take out the bandits at their own base. She is motivated to help out Kunemon and the militia. With the magnificent little yellow bug in her arms, Suzamon sneaks away from the outpost, dashing into the forest with nothing but the moonlight and the stars to guide her. One way or another she's going to stick it to BlackGrowlmon and his bandits. She has had enough of the black dragon abusing Digimon in the forest.
"I'll make you pay, BlackGrowlmon. Right, Kunemon?" "Yaw! And then take all of his stolen money and buy a resort! Time for a spa day." "A resort? Is that all you think about? Money and your looks?" "Just hurry up. Move that big butt of yours."
Priorities, Kunemon. Ravenna didn't like the leader of the militia, but she tolerates him for the sake of the forest. Kunemon leads her deep into the Virus Brigade's territory. She flies over the treetops, trying to remain undetected.
"This is the place. Turn left at that big rock."
Ravenna turns and flies north of the big rock. She sees a large bandit camp guarded by wooden walls. Several bandits are standing around a campfire.
"Drop down to the ground and sneak in through that gap in the wall. It's behind a shed so they won't see you."
Ravenna listens to Kunemon. She heads to the gap and shimmies through. All of a sudden Kunemon shocks her in the arm with his stinger. Kunemon jumps down and crawls towards the campfire.
"Hey guys! I got the crow girl. Hee hee hee!"
Ravenna grabs her arm in pain. The bandits rush over to the shed. One of them drops a net down on top of her. She tries to free herself, but one of the bandits fires a poisoned arrow and it hits her in the butt. The poison on the arrowhead starts to take effect. The bandits jab Suzamon's wing with their spears. Ravenna starts to feel drowsy. Her movement slows down, and her eyelids get very heavy.
"Hey, what the hell? Kunemon, you jerk."
Ravenna takes a few swings, but she is too groggy to fight. She powers down and returns to normal. The bandits wrap the net around her and place chains around her ankles. They drag her back to the campfire. Ravenna's body is roughed up from being dragged over the dirt and rocks. Laying down on her side, she opens her eyes and sees BlackGrowlmon's leg standing next to the fire.
"Great job, Kunemon. You will be rewarded handsomely for this. Come along, human. You are about to experience a world of pain."
Ravenna closes her eyes and passes out. Kunemon had betrayed her and lured her into a trap. The leader of the militia had sold out to the bandits when the going got rough. What would Kuwagamon think of this? Did the others even know Ravenna and Kunemon had left the outpost that night? What is in store for the young track athlete?

Having been betrayed by the leader of the militia, Ravenna awakens and finds herself inside a cell in the bandit camp. She sits up and looks at her surroundings. Inside the cell she sees two beds covered with old rags, one of which she is resting on, a murky puddle of stagnant rain water, and rotten food laying on the ground. Outside the cell she can see a supply of crates and barrels, and a bandit jailor on duty. On the other bed lays a woman with long dark hair in her late twenties wearing filthy torn rags for clothes. The woman looks over at Ravenna and greets her with an expression of great sorrow.
“Hello there. It’s been a long time since I had a cellmate.” “Oh, what happened? How did I get here?”
Ravenna feels a sharp pain in her rear. She reaches down and feels a fragment of cloth used as a bandage.
“You were roughed up bad by the time the bandits brought you here. I was able to address some of your wounds. You were shot with a poisoned arrow.”
The woman turns and sits on the bed facing Raye.
“My name is Maki. I have been BlackGrowlmon’s prisoner for many years. It’s been so long, I don’t know how long it has been.” “I’m Ravenna. So, the bandits captured me?! That bastard Kunemon! How could he do something like this?”
“It’s not going to be easy for you. The bandits treat us like dirt. I have survived on whatever scraps of food they throw in the cell, but most of it is already spoiled.” “Well I don’t plan on sticking around for long. Come on, let’s bust out of here.”
As Ravenna rises up, she feels something around her ankles. She looks down and sees that her legs have been shackled together. The rusted metal is already leaving bruises on her ankles.
“Escaping is not an option. The leader is very strict with his captives. When the bandits do pay us any attention, it’s to torment us. You are not getting out of here.”
A bandit walks over to the jailor, and the two of them approach the cell. They appear to be Rookie levels, and are almost as tall as the average person. The jailor speaks with a rough, yet nasally voice.
“You there, our leader wants to see you.”
The jailor takes out his keys and unlocks the cell door. As they are about to grab Ravenna, she headbutts the jailor and pushes them aside. She exits the cell and tries to run away, but there is only so much slack in the chain between the shackles. The jailor easily catches up and grabs her by the waist. Ravenna hears loud footsteps, as BlackGrowlmon stomps over to them.
“Good, you are awake. I trust you are enjoying your new accommodations.” “You… let me go right now! You’re an evil beast that makes others suffer.”
BlackGrowlmon sneers down at the Spirit User. The jailor lets go, and the demon dragon grabs her in his paw. He picks her up and tosses her several feet in the air. Ravenna lands on her back and feels the pain shoot up her spine as she lays on the ground. BlackGrowlmon picks her up again and brings her in close.
“You should have stayed out of my business. Here in the Digital World, power is everything.” “Power is the only thing you have. You strike fear into others, but you don’t have their respect.” “Foolish child!”
The demon dragon slashes at Ravenna with his claws, ripping her clothes and leaving several large scratches across her torso.
“I’m going to break your spirit.”
BlackGrowlmon takes Ravenna away. He tears off her clothes with his claws, leaving her nude. The bandits spray her with a blast of cold water. Ravenna is given a single black garment of rags to wear that cover her from her shoulders to her hips. The demon dragon brings her to an open area of the camp encircled by bandits and tossed into the dirt. Cold, wet, bruised and dirty, Ravenna struggles to lift herself off the ground. The bandits cackle and taunt the young woman.
“We’re only going to keep you alive so long as you remain useful. So please, entertain us.”
One of the bandits tosses Ravenna a curved sword. A bandit wielding a similar blade enters the circle. Ravenna picks up the sword and takes a defensive stance. Was she really going to have to fight like this? This is not what Ravenna had expected when she received her D-Tector. Could she survive long enough to figure out a plan to escape?

Ravenna was left with no choice. She is being forced to battle not as a Spirit User, but with nothing more than a blade. The bandit across from here goes for a strike. Ravenna raises her blade and blocks the attack. She blocks a few more attacks as she backs up. One of the bandits pushes her from behind.
"Don't just stand there. Fight back, girly."
The bandit goes for another attack. Ravenna dodges to the side, then goes on the offensive. She swings her blade a few times before managing to land a blow to the bandit's side. The bandit looks at her with rage and attacks her with great tenacity. The bandit lands a blow to Ravenna's leg. She cries out in agony and struggles to remain standing. She goes for a strike, but the bandit lands a hit, slashing her arm. Ravenna drops the blade and grabs her arm in pain. Her legs buckle as she falls to her knees. The bandit kicks her in the chest and knocks her over, as the bandits watching laugh and holler.
BlackGrowlmon watches on with great interest. He isn't sure if Raye will have the willpower to get up. Ravenna reaches out and grabs her sword, then struggles to rise. She gasps for air, and raises her blade in front of her. Ravenna strikes at the bandit as they clash blades. They reach a standoff, both pushing forward, but the bandit stomps down on her leg. Ravenna leans forward, as the bandit steps to the side and elbows Ravenna in the face. She feels the blood gushing down from her nose.
"Argh, that was a dirty trick, you jerk!"
Ravenna raises her blade and with all her might swings down at the bandit. She goes for a few more strikes before she manages to land a blow to the bandit's shoulder. Her opponent staggers back and is left open for a hit. Ravenna grabs the bandit by the wrist on his arm holding the sword and bashes him in the face with the hilt of her blade. The bandit falls to the ground. Still holding onto his arm, Ravenna stomps down on his injured shoulder and twists his arm out. The bandit lets go of his blade and it sticks into the ground right next to his throat.
Ravenna lets go of his arm and it drops to the ground. The bandits cheer and roar. BlackGrowlmon is impressed with how Ravenna handled herself. Two bandits come out and drag off their injured coworker.
"Impressive, but that was just a grunt. Let's see how you do against a real challenge."
A much larger, taller bandit shoves his way through the crowd and into the circle. He raise his blade and slashes at Ravenna. She blocks and feels the vibrations run up her arm. While she held her own before, the large bandit easily overpowers her. The bandit knocks the sword out of her hand. He grabs her by the throat and lifts her up in the air before tossing her down. Ravenna lays on the ground, a dirty, bloody mess. Her rags offered little protection. Yet still Raye manages to get up. BlackGrowlmon raises his paw and calls off the large bandit.
"That's enough. You don't know when to quit, do you? Go get some rest. We are having a party later, and you are of no use if you can't serve me."
Two bandits grab ahold of Ravenna and drag her off. They return to her cell and throw her inside. Ravenna takes a few deep breaths as she lays there on the filthy ground. How long could she keep going like this? When would her body reach its breaking point? What would break first, her body, or her spirit?

It seems as though there was no escaping BlackGrowlmon's bandit camp. Ravenna found herself in an unfavorable position, being forced to fight and serve these raiders as their captive. Ravenna crawls across the murky ground and flings herself onto the bed of rags. Her cellmate Maki gives her a look of concern.
"Don't worry, you will get used to it." "I don't wanna get used to it! I just wanna go home! Back to my warm bed, taking nice long baths, and a refrigerator I can clean out all night. These bandits deserve some serious retribution."
Maki lets out a slightly frustrated sigh and brushes her long filthy hair out of her face.
"I don't know what to tell you. I've been here for years, and it might be a long time before someone finally comes and frees us." "Believe me, I have no intention of staying long." "Well you should get some rest. We are going to have to serve food and drinks tonight."
Ravenna leans back on the pile of rags and takes a deep breath, exhaling slowly. She lays there trying to fall asleep, but her injuries from fighting make it impossible to drift off to sleep. Raye is startled by one of the bandits dragging his club along the bars of the cell.
"Hey! Get up. It's party time."
Ravenna slowly opens her eyes and manages to rise up. The guards unlock the cell door and escort the captives out. Their ankles have been bound, making fleeing futile. The bandit guards lead Raye and Maki over to a large bonfire where the bandits have gathered. One of the guards thrusts a serving tray into Raye's stomach.
"Pick up drinks from over at the bar and offer them to members of our fine organization."
Ravenna responds with only a grimacing stare.
"And try to look pleasant! Pretend you are a happy hostess." "Instead of a prisoner of war?" "If you don't be a good hostess, it will be my ass on the fire, so you better do a good job or I will stomp you into mud. Big, big smiles, ladies! Eh heh heh heh heh!"
Ravenna's left eye starts to twitch. She turns and walks over to the bar to grab some drinks. She brings the drinks back to the fire and starts serving them. It was tough, but Ravenna is able to act like a happy server, like a waitress trying to earn a big tip. The bandits treat her with little respect. After handing out all the drinks she returns with more, but one of the bandits pushes her and she falls in the dirt, spilling the drinks. BlackGrowlmon looks over and roars.
"Rawr! You clumsy girl! Clean up that mess you made." "But, it wasn't my fault! He pushed me." "I can't drink excuses. Get off your ass and bring us some more drinks."
Ravenna does her best to control her rage. She picks up several shards of broken glass with her bare hands and returns to the bar. After passing out more drinks, the food is ready, and the captives have to bus dinner back and forth from the food prep area. By the time the bandits finish their meals, they are good and drunk, and start to be less demanding. Ravenna waits until there's a lull in her duties and sits down next to the fire. BlackGrowlmon sneers at her.
"What's the matter? I didn't tell you to stop."
One of the bandits walks over to Ravenna. He is wearing a purple cloak with leather ranger gear. His eyes are obscured by the hood, but Ravenna can see purple hair dangling down in front of his ears.
"With all due respect, your awesomeness, but this human wench is frail and weak. She still needs time to get used to her duties. Maybe she could have a break every now and then."
"Nyeh, fine. Only because I don't want her dying of exhaustion. If she causes any trouble, it will be your head on the line, Rallyn."
The cloaked bandit sits down next to Ravenna and wraps his arm around her. He takes a sip of mead and lets out a relaxing sigh. The bandits continue drinking and partying around the fire. It's starting to get late, and the action is dying down. Rallyn strikes up a conversation with Raye when the other bandits are not paying attention.
"So, first day on the job?" "You think this is a joke? Is my pain humorous to you?" "No, no. Just trying to be friendly. Not all bandits are rude." "Ya, they just imprison women and force them to work and fight. No big deal." "What are you going to do? How is your ass, by the way?" "My, my ass?" "You know, the arrow. I'm the one who fired it, you know."
Ravenna makes a face full of rage as she pushes Rallyn away.
"You jerk! You think I will forgive you for shooting me with a poison arrow?" "I was just doing my job. It might have ended up worse for you if I didn't. Once you were unconscious, it was easier to lock you up. If I hadn't, they might have bludgeoned you with a club, or hacked off a limb." "You guys are so gross."
Some of the bandits return to their bunks to go to sleep. Rallyn stands up and stretches his arms out.
"What a day. Guess you can return to your cell now."
Rallyn escorts Ravenna back to the cell. After he opens the door, he pushes Ravenna inside.
"Hey! What's your problem?" "Look, I have to keep up appearances."
Rallyn looks side to side to make sure no one is watching, then pulls his hood back to reveal his face. Ravenna can't help but think his eyes are cute.
"I'm a human, not a Digimon. There's only a few humans working for BlackGrowlmon because he doesn't trust us." "Wow, your eyes are really pretty." "I'm going to help you get out of here. It's just going to take time."
"I don't want to wait. I want to get out of here. I'm not even from this stinking forest." "I know. Just be patient. Make sure you get plenty of rest. BlackGrowlmon is going to work you twice as hard now. It won't be your first day here anymore." "Great. Well, thanks, I guess. Let me know when you've got it figured out."
Rallyn enters the cell. He reaches out and hugs Ravenna. The ranger reaches down and grabs her cheek.
"Stop it, you creep!" "I'm just checking to make sure it's healing, is all." "Right..." "I'm sorry for shooting you in the butt. Take care."
Rallyn exits the cell. Maki is brought back by a guard and thrown inside. The guard locks up the cell and leaves. Rallyn gazes at Ravenna for a moment before turning and running off into the shadows of the night. Maki gives Ravenna a curious look.
"So you've met Rallyn now. Has he stolen your heart yet?" "I don't know what you are talking about." "Did he tell you he was going to find a way to set us free? Don't believe him. He's said the same thing to me, and yet I am still here. He's just trying to get into your pants, Ravenna."
"That is disgusting! And I don't have pants. All I have are these filthy rags that don't even cover my butt all the way when I lean forward. Don't we at least get to take a shower at some point?" "Oh boy. I feel bad for you. It's prissy girls like you that go crazy. You must have been spoiled growing up." "I'm not in the mood to argue with you, Maki."
Ravenna leans forward and plops herself down on the bed of rags. Her feet are bruised from walking on dirt and rocks with no shoes, there is dirt in her wounds from fighting, and the cuffs around her ankles are causing bruises. Ravenna can only hope that Rallyn is telling the truth, and that he can find a way for the captives to escape. Ravenna doesn't know how much longer she can stand to live like this.
