Corrupted Power [Mission] [5/5]

Datamon turned to face Carlos as he asked his question. "Well, I gather that once we reach the bottom, we should be around 400 meters away from the power station" he answered. Not quite a long walk, but, the fact made him somewhat nervous, enough to make the timing kind of uncomfortable if they had to make a run for it.
Once all were on the elevator, the group seemed to all have high spirits for the time being. They were getting to know each other, which would have been great if this was a long term project, but Datamon didn't really put much thought into it on his end. If they all worked toward the same goal though, that would be great.
Kokabuterimon seemed to watch Kuu's antics with a smile again. The Kudamon seemed to be such a delightful, cheerful fellow. He was somewhat glad that they had come on this excursion with them. Datamon meanwhile seemed a little awkward about the stories that were told.
"Huh... interesting situations you humans tend to get yourselves mixed up with, eh?" he asked. For the moment all he could think of was the elevator reaching the bottom, but... oh no. The lights around them flickered momentarily. The sound of machinery powering down howled through the caverns. And then, all of a sudden, the elevator they were riding on jarred to a halt as its emergency brakes kicked in.
"Oh... no, no, no, no, no, no, don't do this to us!" Datamon said, panicking as he ran toward the elevator's controls. He could see that this was caused by one of the brownouts of the messed up power station below, but, what could they do?
"Erm, what has just happened?" Kokabuterimon asked in a considerably more professional voice than Datamon would have thought possible.
"We've stopped! That's what happened!" Datamon spat back. "The power's cut off again, just at this exact moment when we could have changed things! Gah, whatever nefarious force is at work must have ambushed us! How was this possible?!"
While Datamon was going through a mechanical freakout, Kokabuterimon addressed their guests on the elevator with courtesy.
"It seems the elevator's jammed a little due to a power failure" he said. "However, we... have means of providing power of our own?"
"Hm, what do you mean?!" Datamon asked. Kokabuterimon simply put his claws together to make a small bolt of electricity form. "Ah... are you referring to your own electrical ability? Why, that isn't enough you silly boy! You can't just pour lightning into an electrical socket and expect it to work as normal! You need to regulate it and operate it at the parameters in which it was designed..."
"Which you have the ability to do so, sir" Kokabuterimon said. It took a little while for Datamon to get over his panic and realize this, and he did it in a start.
"So... it turns out that in actuality that we're perfectly capable of getting through this with minimum impediment, huh?" he said. "Well.... alright then. Apologies for that moment of crisis, just... being realistic I guess." he jumped up toward the elevator controls. There was momentarily a few sparks coming from that direction, before sparks flowed from Kokabuterimon's claws as well as Datamon's fingers, and the elevator continued down on its way. While it descended at half speed from the jury rigging for the second half of the journey, so far it had not drawn attention.
"Oh, well, off we go then" Datamon said, glad to have gone through a crisis of a power failure on an elevator.

Haru had to give credit to Amelie that the girl really seemed really freakin' on-point if she were able to figure out just how many stories it was going to take for them to get all the way down now. Sixty nine stories was a LONG day down, so needless to say... it did kinda bring some retrospection on just how big Old Terminus was. "Jesus, that's such a long way down..." she ended up commenting, though her eyes widened as well at Amelie's little comment towards her and Tawna (not helped by sweet little Kuu). "Well, I mean yeah it is a lot and we were both kinda right, but..."
Suddenly, the girl's talking was interrupted as she was suddenly lifted up off the ground by Tawna, the Meicrackmon Vicious Mode hugging from behind the blue-dress wearing girl from close to their form as Haru dangled helplessly two or so feet off the ground. Frankly, it was like a little girl carrying a doll with them... of course, the Ultimate level was anything BUT little (what with being the tallest of those in the elevator). "I forgive." the feline softly spoke, a cattish smile on their face while Haru's struggling soon faded away as they accepted their fate.
Perhaps an amusing sight aside, it was still awfully embarassing for Haru, her face pink. "C-can you let me down now Tawna?" she whimpered, the Ultimate level setting her back down on the ground gently.
In all honesty, a series of icebreakers sounded like a good way to pass the time since they were all gonna be in here for a bit. Ranging from what sounded like one hell of an adventure on Ravenna's part to... whatever mindset Kuu had with their choice of dietary habits. Then again, wasn't like the fox was the first Digimon she has seen with weird dietary habits. "Uhh... a whole city block sounds kinda overkill not gonna lie. Not that uhh... eating a thousand piece jigsaw puzzle isn't any less interesting."
"I thought it was interesting." Tawna added in, a genuinely innocent tone to the Ultimate level's voice.
"I know you do Tawna." Haru ended up just sighing at her partner's naivety... though suddenly everything around them coming to a halt. For a moment Haru's eyes widened as her heartrate increased briefly, though fortunately disaster was averted as things seemed to sort themselves out with Datamon and Kokabuterimon getting things figured out. "You had me scared for a moment... Hopefully we'll not run into any more trouble now though!" she added in, sighing in relief.
As to help kinda continue the conversation of icebreakers, Haru opted to add her own two cents into the mix. "Well, I used to run track for my school... Used to be REALLY good at it too! Nowadays though I have to kinda help take care of Tawna, less she goes and does weird stuff." she softly spoke, motioning to Tawna.
"I was once in a past life tortured to become the perfect guard animal for a cult of insane angel Digimon that ultimately broke free and had to eventually be destroyed due to threatening to consume everything around me." the Ultimate level began to speak, their tone being HEAVILY casual compared to the themes they were speaking. Needless to say, it earned a bit of a flinch from Haru.
"Uhh... Tawna? Can we try to talk about more positive things?" the girl pleaded, looking at everyone else, half-expecting for some very weird stares right bout now.
"I ate a double A battery once. Does that count?"

Truth be told Carlos had to look away from the goggle head as she was hugged by her tall partner, doing his best effort to hide his amused smile. Not because he found the image particularly funny, but rather because he found it too adorable. Despite that fearsome look, Tawna was still the same adorable kitten he had seen on the club’s first meeting. Not even Dio seemed keen in ruining their moment with a smartass comment, though that was probably due to still gripping nervously at the man’s leg with one hand.
He really didn’t like elevators of any kind, it seemed, but at the very least found a way to distract himself from that by listening to the group as they started sharing stories, his eyes widening a bit when Ravenna finished her own tale.
“That’s…so unbelievably cool.” Dio said, looking with a somewhat awed expression at Ravenna. A full city block? It didn’t get any more overkill than that, and he could really respect that.
Sharing random factoids and anecdotes did seem like the best way to break the ice between the group, or at the very least a way to keep themselves entertained until they reached their destination. And while he was about to ask how something as small as Kuu could fit a whole thousand piece puzzle inside him something else brought the conversation to a halt.
Literally, as the elevator completely stopped on its tracks over some malfunction, startling both Carlos and (especially) Dio, who found himself hugging the man’s leg with his eyes wide open in surprise. Luckily that small crisis was resolved relatively quickly, and the platform continued its descent uninterrupted. Seeing they were still very much alive and well, Dio slowly but surely loosened his grip on Carlos, blushing slightly as he did so. Hopefully nobody other than Carlos (who simply replied to the imp’s reaction with a chuckle and a head pat) would have noticed.
The fact sharing continued as normal, this time Haru talking about her school life and Tawna…telling them about her frankly awful past life in a rather nonchalant tone. While there wasn’t much staring coming from Carlos, other than a very awkward sounding cough from him, Dio was quick to chime in as well.
“Oh so we’re sharing bad stuff now? Well there was that time me and another Impmon almost got killed by a weird digimon someplace down here in Old Terminus. Weird purple eyeball that could kill you instantly, didn’t even give you a chance to come back as an egg. Oh and that lynch mob that tried to kill me and Carlos back on Luminas. Fun times.” The imp said, a clear sarcastic tone to that last part.
“Couldn’t you have said something a bit more positive than that Dio?” Carlos asked pinching the bridge of his nose. As if the conversation couldn’t get any more awkward…
“Well I’m still alive after that. Isn’t that enough of a positive?” Dio shrugged.
“Fair enough.” Carlos sighed throwing his arms up in the air in defeat, resignation in his tone. Right, so now it was up to him to try to rescue this conversation from that depressing low. “Let’s see, positive things….Ah right! I used to be part of a rock band! Well technically I still am, we’re just in a bit of a hiatus at the moment. In fact, it’s because of said band that my hair’s like this because no, white is not my natural color. Shocking, I know. I won’t bore you all with the details…mostly cause I don’t remember most myself, but it involved hair bleacher, actual bleach, booze, and a very stupid bet.”
Dio was too busy to listen to his tamer’s weird ramble, instead working up the courage to let go of Carlos’ leg to approach Tawna a bit. Her story about being raised by angels as a weapon sounded…awfully familiar of a couple other digimons they had met. It was a long shot, but he figured he wasn’t losing anything by asking.
“Errr, so, furball. You said you worked for some angels way back when…” he said, somewhat unsure how to ask her about this. “…this might be weird but…do you happen to remember two weird Guilmons in a similar situation to you? Twins, one white, the other black, both of them wearing a lot of armor and chains?”

Had this been an objectively good idea? There mere mention of friendship had seemingly driven Kuu into a frenzy of sorts. Amy wasn't even able to properly address the quizzical stare at her direction before the digimon began to express how friendship was the best thing in the world since sliced bread.
In an attempt to calm him down a bit, the brunette began to soothingly caress his head with a finger; would it work? Probably not, but there was no harm in trying! "It's fine, Kuu. We all know you're an amazing friend. That's why you are here with us, right?"
The logic of that statement was dubious at best, but truth was that the Kudamon didn't seem like a being that was bound by small things like logic or reason. If Amelie were to take a wild guess, he probably just went with how he felt like more often than not.
That being said, it wasn't like another digimon currently in the room was all that different! Their resident feline was now hugging her tamer fiercely. The scene was oddly heartwarming, Amy herself being incapable of resisting a smile at the act. "See? That's more like it! I knew you could be friends again."
Partnered digimon were definitely a thing, weren't they? There was this lingering feeling in the air that, even if their respective humans seemed at odds with their partners, truth was that they probably loved them to bits. Not like she could give her perspective on the matter, however...
But that was something for later; for now, everyone began to share their interesting experiences, as per Kuu's little game. Definitely a good idea, at least in her books!
First, the Kudamon and his penchant for eating... jigsaw puzzles, apparently. While weird at first, there was one or two inevitable question that sprang between the downtime of his and Ravenna's story. "Was it tasty? How do puzzles taste?"
Yup, an extremely important question. Now, Ravenna's own take on the small game was... utmost interesting; she first began with something that was apparently not very interesting and then... finished with an adventure that was nothing short of amazing. A bit surprising, honestly! And just like she had done the first time, the brunette began asking her fellow spirit user a couple of questions about it!
"Impressive; where did you get a city block to throw at others, though? People usually miss those when they're taken away from them. Annnd... have you ever thought about what would happen if the helmet comes back to life while you're sleeping or something? That seems like the start of a horror movie." She just hoped that the helmet wasn't actually a hockey mask; otherwise... well, it was nice having met Ravenna, she guessed.
That friendly atmosphere met an abrupt end, however; the elevator would come to a sudden halt, apparently the victim of a sudden power cutoff. Oh well. "Guess that's another reason why the elevator was a bad idea? Using anything that requires energy when there's risk of a power outage at any moment sounds like a needless risk to take, in hindsight."
Probably something she should've thought about earlier when trying to dissuade the group from using the elevator, but that had regrettably slipped through her mind. Definitely, something Amy would keep in mind if they had to use anything that was powered by electric energy and that would be important for this small mission, however.
While Kokabuterimon tried to calm a panicking Datamon, the brunette made gesture to everyone else to keep alert; after all, the elevator had come to a sudden halt, and if somebody was stalking them, this probably was the best time for an ambush or something of the like; luckily, that didn't happen and everyone was more or less well by the time this small problem was solved. A sigh of relief erupted from the teenager's mind right afterward.
"Thank goodness you had the tools to get us out from that predicament." She told their employers, managing to muster a small smile. Raising her voice just a bit so everyone else could hear her clearly, she added. "I have the feeling that we may not be as lucky the next we suffer a power failure, so... can we agree to try and use the least amount of machinery we can? Just to be safe..."
As if to punctuate her words, the elevator was now operating at half speed, signaling that, even if they had gotten through that crisis, they hadn't done so unscathed and now were more vulnerable to any kind of attack, in case one of those happened. Even if her words hadn't been convincing enough, that would probably emphasize her point a fair bit.
Or, maybe, the teenager just wanted to pretend her decision had been the right one and wasn't losing the opportunity to remind her companions at every chance she got. Whether that was genuine concern or just pettiness, that was hard to know!
Their descent kept going, this time Haru and Tawna seizing the opportunity to share a bit about themselves. Track team... being the slave of an insane cult and eating a double A battery. The three were quite interesting, in their own way. Well, somewhat.
"Did you attend school in here, Haru? How was it?" Blame her for her curiosity, but given that the names of the humans currently present were Carlos, Haru, Maia and Ravenna, the only one who sounded remotely Japanese was Haru's. And Amelie was curious about how school in Japan was! For what she knew, it differed quite greatly from other countries, but one thing was reading about it and another, very different one was being told by a native. Pretty much a golden opportunity!
She preferred to not add anything about the brainwashing cult, given that Dio was already taking care of that, even despite sharing more stories of the similar vein about him and another Impmon. Guess that... misery loves company? The fact that there were digimons capable of permanently deleting others in Old Terminus wasn't very reassuring, though.
At least Carlos shared something on a more lighthearted note; enough the remove some of that somber atmosphere that had built between Tawna's and Dio's own stories. Bands were pretty fun! "That sounds like a lot of fun! What kind of band it was?" Judging by the man's own appearance, it probably was something along the lines of... rock? Maybe something a bit heavier. "I can play some instruments, but I'm not super good at them. We could probably play something down the line!" Amy herself could sing too, if that was absolutely needed, even if she preferred to... not, if able! It made her feel a bit of embarrassment.
Take it was her turn, now? For a moment, the teenager adopted a thinking expression, even if eventually decided to go with something pretty basic. "I moved to Japan and I entered college this year. I am to become an architect down the line, even if I just began studying. Move's been a bit rough at first, in... more ways than one, but, overall, I think it's been pretty fun thus far."
Now that she thought about it, there was one person left for the group to say something about themselves; quite ironic, given their partner was probably the biggest chatterbox in the elevator. Promptly, Amelie gazed at Maia with a friendly smile plastered on her face. Did she feel uncomfortable at the moment? Or was the type that really didn't enjoy talking all that much, unless it was to control Kuu's antics.
"What about you, Mai?" Hopefully the blonde wouldn't mind the nickname! The risk of overstepping the bounds between acquaintances and friends and provoking a bad reaction could be a real issue, depending on who you were talking to. "Want to share anything about yourself?"
The risk of complying (albeit indirectly) with a request from a partner like Kuu could be an issue too. Buuut, there was no way for the brunette to know what kind of relationship they exactly had! For all she knew, the Kudamon could be the type to push more and more outlandish requests once he got a positive result on the first.

Watching a murder-cat hugging its tamer was certainly an entertaining moment. Maybe Maia and Kuu's relationship wasn't the only humorous one here! It was kind of adorable, really! Though, Maia had to admit that she was glad Kuu lacked hugging-capable arms unless in his Mega state. Or, at least, that she was currently aware of.
Wait, wait. Were people actually playing along with Kuu's game?! This was awesome! The pipefox had never felt this successful in his life! Except for that one time when-- oh, and that other--- wait. No, don't get distracted! This was undoubtedly the most successful moment of the rookie's life! Or, that's what he was going to tell himself right now!
Though, the proud fox did have to resist from interrupting Ravenna to tell her that he enjoyed doing laundry! Or, rolling in dirty laundry, to be specific. Who needed that detail? As long as he didn't end up stuck in a washing machine again, all was good!
"Hmmm," the fox mulled over the taste of puzzles, before blinking slowly. "Puzzles don't taste like their pictures, that's for sure." It didn't take a genius to figure that one out! But, some Digimon clearly learned from a more 'hands-on' (mouth-on?) approach! "Kind'a cardboardy, really!"
Meanwhile, Maia was more focused on Amelie's beginning to a horror story, starring poor Ravenna. Amber eyes widened briefly, trying to establish the actual possibility of such a thing. So many ideas for concept art! But, rather than geek about the ideas of a horror story, that would surely make the bird spirit user never want to sleep again, she decided to give a small nod of acknowledgement to the thought. Note to self, never take home strange 'souvenirs' from the Digital World! Though, another thought crossed her mind, which did manage to be uttered. "I wonder if that sort of thing is how some spirit totems are created." How curious. Was that a possibility? Anything seemed capable of happening, if Digital-related!
Though, that curiosity was put to a stop, rather quickly, as the elevator ceased function. Biting down on her lower lip, the blonde uttered, "this is why I voted stairs," to herself. Before she could finish her statement, Kuu had already left his perch on Amelie, and was wrapping himself across his tamer's shoulders. Establishing there was no immediate danger, the white rookie nuzzled his tamer's cheek, before looking around the elevator. The fox paused when his gaze reached Dio, blinking yellow eyes in an overly-innocent fashion. Surely, the Impmon wouldn't think he'd gone entirely unnoticed by the whole group! Not as long as Kuu was there, at least!
It was even better than the stories continued, even with the little mishap with the elevator! Once things picked up again, the fox nodded in a knowing fashion at Tawna's grim history. "That sounds pretty fancy," he stated, in completely serious tone. With the addendum of consuming non-consumables, he continued in the same tone with, "batteries taste way better than angels, though."
Um. What? Maia was almost tempted to ask for clarification from her partner, as she hadn't known him to eat angels or batteries. But, ultimately, the girl decided it was for the best that she didn't know! It almost seemed like a better trade-off to hear about Carlos' hair bleaching methods. Which, definitely sounded questionable. She wouldn't judge, though. After all, it seemed he still had all his hair, and a strong lack of chemical burns! So it must have turned out just fine. Choosing to focus on this topic, rather than Dio's, felt for the best. The tamer didn't want to come off as some sort of Impmon stalker, despite her curiosity on whether or not she knew the other imp from the story. After all, Dio marked the -- what was it? -- fourth Impmon that she had met!
Kuu puffed his cheeks a little, though, thinking about all the awesome stories. "I should'a picked something more edgy for my story," he hummed, looking at his tamer. After all, she hadn't told a story yet! Maybe he could convince her to make them sound adventurous and strong! Or reckless and stupid. Whichever worked, really.
And, with Miss Architect-Totally-Not-An-Airplane-Pilot turning the subject over to the girl, it was their chance! Except, Maia wasn't having much of it! Maybe, it was because she was still having a hard time collecting a lot of her memories, courtesy of some biomerging-gone-wrong! Or, just because she left most of the conversational pieces to her partner! "Um, well," she started, blinking wide eyes, "I'm part of the art club at school, I guess." But that was nowhere near the territory Kuu wanted her to delve into!
And, knowing Maia wasn't the type to talk too much, Kuu jumped for an opportunity! "Maia's like a hero and stuff! Once, she distracted a SkullScorpiomon to keep me and a spirit user safe!" Then, there was a pause, while debating which part of their prior mission he wanted to bring up. In the most nonchalant tone possible, the fox added, "oh. And she's dating a Digimon."
Was that the sound of a teapot screeching? Within a second, Maia's face had turned red, hands flying up to cover it, and a small squealing sound seemed to be coming from the back of her throat, while she kept her lips pressed tightly shut. Another moment had to pass, before she could collect herself enough to begin rapidly making motions with her hands.
"She also does this 'sign language' thing sometimes. It's kind'a funny. Like, right now, she's trying to say he's not a Digimon! Except he totally is!" While the gestures from his tamer didn't stop, it seemed that Kuu's translation services had! "S'okay though. I'm the only one that judges her for it. Not cause he's an Impmon, though! It's cause he smells weird." Well, at least that was clarified! "They're not allowed to get married or anything though, 'cause I'm Maia's partner, and she's not allowed to have another one!"
Trying to give one final attempt at actually using words, the flustered teen covered her face again with her hands, managing a very muffled, "It's not -- Isaac's not a -- no?" Ah. Smooth save! Maia was always the best when it came to speeches! Or not. At least it was worth a shot.
On the bright side, at least nobody seemed bothered about Amelie using 'Mai' as a nickname!

Post by Ravenna on May 30, 2018 3:48:15 GMT
Telling stories about some interesting times turned out to be a great idea to bond. They were interrupted when the elevator suddenly comes to a halt, as the power had been cut. Oh no! Ravenna starts to worry. Both Amelie and Maia remind the group that they had opted to take the stairs. Ravenna worries that she failed the group in her duties as the swing vote. Datamon is right, you can't just zap a socket with electricity to make it work right. Except that they could regulate it. Kokabuterimon and Datamon emit sparks, getting the elevator going again, albeit at a slower pace. Ravenna claps a few times with excitement.
"Great job, you two. It wouldn't be fun trying to get down from here."
Meicrackmon Vicious Hugger Mode picked up the purple haired girl from behind with a big hug, her legs dangling off the ground. It makes Ravenna even more jelly that she doesn't have a Digimon partner as a Spirit User. It turns out that Haru was on track in high school as well. If her and Ravenna had grown up close enough to each other, it's likely that they possibly faced each other at a meet before. Should Raye ask Haru to join her team? Tawna's story was much more disturbing than the group had originally expected. A cult tried to make her into a weapon? That sounds scary. Though Tawna did eat a battery, and that is strangely delightful.
"I'm sorry, Tawna. That sounds horrible."
Dio's story revealed that he had been to Old Terminus before with another Impmon. They had run into some dangerous purple monsters down here. His story is grim, much like Tawna's. Carlos talked about being in an actual rock band, and dying his hair on what sounds to be a fun, drunken night. He was certainly pulling off the rocker look quite well.
"What genre of music do you play, Carlos?"
The fellow Spirit User Amelie seemed to be in a similar boat as Ravenna. She had started college this year, and is striving to fulfil her goals. Unlike Raye, Amelie had only recently moved to Japan. It must be fun taking in the local culture. Amelie suggests that they avoid using electrical devices when given the option because of the risk of the power getting cut again. The brunette had taken an interest in everyone's stories. She seems a lot nicer than most of the college students Ravenna knows.
Oh, what had Kuu done? Everyone was giving stories and talking to each other. It felt like they should be doing this down at a pub around a table with a bunch of big frosty beers. Ravenna is enjoying this trip down the elevator, even though it stopped short once. While Ravenna didn't like dealing with laundry, it turns out that Kuu enjoyed rolling around in dirty clothes?! Ravenna would be disgusted if she found out. All that sweat and skin cells left behind in a big old pile of stinky laundry? Kuu goes on to reveal that Maia is dating a Digimon? Clearly this must be some mistake. How embarrassing for Maia. Kuu thinks that Maia's boyfriend smells weird. He's the one rolling around in dirty laundry. Maybe it wasn't always fun and games having a super friendly Digimon around.
"You are dating a Digimon? I think you must be mistaken, Kuu. Though I am a Spirit User and my boyfriend is a Tamer, so is that like dating a Digimon?"
Ravenna's story about the time Icagimon attacked her drew a lot of interest from the group. Dio thinks it was very cool. Most of them agreed that dropping a city block on the undead samurai was overkill.
"Well, we were in the subway, and Misty used her magic to lower the ground and crush that icy zombie once and for all."
Amelie suggests that keeping Icagimon's helmet on her desk sounds like the start of a horror movie. Ravenna's expression turns to shock as a shiver shoots down her spine. Could the samurai still regenerate? Who could have survived that much weight crushing them? Maybe it was a little creepy that Ravenna had the helmet around.
"Now that you mention it, Amelie, keeping the helmet around does sound like something out of a horror movie, ha ha, ha. I like it's design, and it's golden color shines in the sunlight."
The crow girl appears a bit nervous at the thought of her life turning into a slasher flick. She closes her eyes and inhales slowly before breathing out. If Ravenna ever disappears, they would know a likely cause. Was it worth the risk of the stone cold samurai returning to have a fancy ornament around? The elevator continues down at a slow speed. It was certainly an entertaining ride, but the threat of danger still lurks ahead.

Datamon and Kokabuterimon couldn't really keep track of the conversation. They were too busy at the elevator controls, continuing its gradual descent into the depths of old Terminus.
Two thirds down, however, Datamon's thought was interrupted by a distant, ominous buzzing noise that echoed through the cold, decaying ruins around them. "Kokabuterimon, stop" he told his assistant, and the elevator halted while the two digimon turned to look.
The buzzing was getting louder. "Oh no..." Datamon said, eyes widening, then tried to pretend he didn't just say that by turning to the others. "Quick, everyone be quiet, they might just pass us by".
Several white and yellow flying things seemed to be growing in size as they neared.
"They're coming right at us, sir" Kokabuterimon said.
"Well, there goes that idea" Datamon sighed. "So, plan B... plan B... I know I had it somewhere..." he tried to "think" by activating his data banks.
"Sir, we'd best keep the elevator moving" Kokabuterimon pointed out. "That's why we brought help isn't it?"
"Ah, yes, brilliant, that was it" Datamon said, looking at the humans and digimon that were there. "Well, small snag. We appear to be under attack by a group of BladeKuwagamon. I'd be most grateful if you could hold them off so we can keep the elevator moving, please?"
With that, Datamon and Kokabuterimon turned and continued the elevator's descent, as a swarm of five BladeKuwagamon came hurtling out of the darkness, flying straight at the group on the elevator!
Combat begins! 5 BladeKuwagamon appear!
They seem to be emanating a dark aura...

"Batteries do taste better." Tawna quietly spoke in agreement with the Kudamon as the Ultimate level briefly sat down cross-legged, in a way finding at least a kind of kindred spirit in Kuu least in that regard. The Meicrackmon Vicious Mode if anything just seemed to have a curious look to their blank face... a hint of child-like wonder in their eyes.
Haru was starting to lean towards moving the conversations forward... All this negative talk wasn't healthy, at all. Besides, she didn't even WANT to know why Kuu was acting all serious just now... Fortunately, at least it seemed Amelie got the hint as well regarding trying to push things to a different topic. "Oh! Actually, yeah! I've lived here all my life, but now on my first year of college. Personally, I want to be a teacher actually!" she ended up happily quipping, pleased to at least hear the change in tone for the overall group!
Wait... Maia was dating a Digimon? Or... was he not? Haru seemed... more confused than anything. Mixed vibes going on here right now! "I... I mean, I'm happy for you?" the goggle-wearing girl awkwardly commented to Maia, giving them a half-way reassuring smile. She wasn't one to judge one's choice of relationship... but a Digimon and human? That was... well, mostly just unusual at least so far for Haru.
As the elevator ride slowly, but surely continued... Tawna's face shifted to one of mild surprise, she tilting her head slightly at Dio as they whispered to her. Two Guilmon in chains...? The truth was, she didn't actually know any Digimon like those. The only things she remembered back then was the pain she endured and the bloodshed she caused... and if they WERE there, she wasn't sure if they would have escaped the carnage. In the end, she decided that the only answer she could give was a somewhat honest one. "... It was a long time ago, and if they were there... Well, they would have died." the feline Digimon somewhat sadly whispered back, a look of sorrow in the Ultimate level's red schlera.
Beyond the initial stop from power failure, the elevator ride had been mostly uneventful... at least until a prominent buzzing sound began to alert everyone. "A swarm of BladeKuwaga-whatnow?" the girl ended up questioning, a brief look of panic in her eyes. Considering how her LAST rendevouz with a Digimon from Old Terminus went, she was not particularly thrilled to be hearing that a group of Digimon was rushing right at them.
Tawna while had previously been fairly mellow this ride, hearing the encroaching insect Digimon coming their way snapped the feline into an alert state. "You stay back goggles!" The Meicrackmon Vicious Mode growled as she swung herself out of the elevator and onto it's roof, directly getting into a defensive stance. Those BladeKuwagamon looked... mildly off in the distance, but she was not going to allow herself to dawdle any longer in letting these insectoid Digimon get closer to attack the elevator. Briefly shredding a dimensional rift in front of her (an identical one appearing above the approaching swarm), the Ultimate level dived into the portal before appearing overhead of the swarm as they are about to fly by. "Broken Toy!" the Virus Digimon yelled as both of her hands turned into claw-like tentacles that immediately rapidly extended out to try and harpoon into as many BladeKuwagamon as she could manage with the tentacles.
Tawna has exitted the elevator, she using Brane Jumper to appear above the swarm of BladeKuwagamon, attacking the group with Broken Toy.
Brane Hopper - Meicrackmon is capable of tearing holes through space itself, allowing her to more or less as a free-action teleport short distances even in mid-combat. They are also able to be used to extend the range of her attacks (though other attacks will rupture them entirely) or to assist in dodging an attack. The only real limitations of this ability is that she can only rip about two holes a turn, one entry hole and one exit hole. (Cooldown: 2 Post)
Broken Toy - LOADED - Meicrackmon's hand shifts into a mess of red tentacles that extend out to stab a foe, causing medium damage and binding them as the tendrils wrap around or bury into them, severely minimizing the affected victim’s mobility. Last for three turns, but the victim can break free with enough struggling. (Cooldown: 3 Posts) [[Loaded from Arkadimon]]

Having diverted attention away from the depressive topics, Carlos was met with a lot of questions regarding his band. Truth be told, it had been a long while since he had gotten together with the guys to play anything at all.
“Eh, this and that. It’s mostly a cover band, but we have a couple of original stuff of our own too: a bit of rock here, a hint of punk there, the odd heavy metal song, some covers…we’re either very versatile, or very indecisive.” He shrugged, before turning to Amelie and smiling a bit. “Sure! Next time I’ll bring my bass or borrow a guitar, and we can play some songs or something.”
Well at the very least it seemed conversations where picking up again, the rather bleak subject matter that had been brought up now mostly forgotten by happier questions regarding everyone’s personal life. That said Tawna was able to provide an answer to Dio that, while it didn’t clear up much, it was enough to tell him she probably didn’t knew those two weird Guilmons.
“I see.” Well, those two were certainly very much not dead, that much he knew…or at least the technical definition of dead. “Thanks anyway, Furball.” Seems he would have to look for information on Yin and Yang elsewhere.
Of course, it was only a matter of time before their luck ran out and the elevator attracted some unwanted attention. While the buzzing was pretty hard to miss, it was Datamon who saw them first. Five giant insectoid monstrosities approached them, the digimon resembling less insects and more swords with wings and a bug thorax in place of a hilt.
“God damn it.” Carlos cursed under his breath. “Guess a calm elevator ride was too much to ask, was it?” Being confined to such a small space everyone was a sitting duck in that elevator, as they didn’t have anywhere to retreat to once the bugs reached them, unless Ravenna could somehow carry them all out at once.
Luckily, they were anything but defenseless. Grasping at the digivice stored within his pocket, the man shot a glance at the Impmon. He didn’t need a reply from him, seeing his eager if smug expression was more than enough. He had been waiting for a moment like this for too long. With a press of a button, the glowing device shot a ray of light that enveloped the imp, making his small frame grow and reform into something far less adorable.
Soon the light died down, revealing the megalomaniacal partner had changed form, a large panther in the place the imp had been. Dio followed after Tawna’s lead, positioning himself atop the elevator whilst facing in the approaching swarm’s direction. While he couldn’t close in the distance between them and their enemies like the Meicrackmon could, he was far from harmless even at this range.
“Saint Elmo’s Fire!” The panther bellowed out, embers and flames glowing within his maw as he gathered power for a moment before a large stream of flames was expelled in the bugs direction. Hopefully his attack would keep them at bay long enough for the others to do something about them.
Dio armor digivolves to Pantheramon and attacks the BladeKuwagamons with St. Elmo’s Fire.
-St. Elmo’s Fire: Fires a stream of black flames from his mouth with a range of 50 feet. Causes heavy damage and sets flammable objects on fire. Two posts cooldown.

While the talk about angels and batteries was an utter mystery to Amelie, she just decided to focus on things that her puny human brain could understand. Like Haru and school, for example. "Oh, College? That's nice! Maybe we'll stumble into each other by the cafeteria or something! That'd be pretty fun!"
Sure, the subjects they have are probably way different, but who knew; even Shibuya's university was pretty big, maybe they could use that as an excuse to hang out more often! It's not like Amelie is in dire need of more friends or something, but chatting with somebody that weren't her classmates and the few friendly acquaintances the brunette had made there thus far would be a welcome breath of fresh air. "What kind of teacher, if I can ask?" Haru definitely looked on the physical education side, but that was probably rude to mention? Amy wasn't sure.
For now, that didn't matter though! The prospect of a performance with Carlos was too fun to think about the previous topic too in-depth, anyway. "I carry mine pretty much always, even though I kinda..." She seemed nervous for a second, her cheeks being flushed pink as she admitted. "Don't know how to play the guitar. Learning would be nice, though!"
Then again, lots of things were happening so fast! Before she could even add something to it, Kuu was already confessing Maia's torrid romance with a digimon, ending in what seemed like the poor girl breaking down. Figuring it was the right thing to do, even the blonde's situation was a little weird in all honesty, Amy just patted her back.
"Hey, these two worlds are really big and there is plenty of fish around! Finding your other half is something to be proud of, even if you're a yellow tang and he's a... stingray, I guess?"
First off, why had the brunette just called Maia a yellow tang? Well, at least they had some things in common, and the comparison had sounded a lot cuter in her mind! In any case, both Ravenna's words and the name 'Isaac' made her guess that this probably wasn't a digimon, or at least not a digimon the whole time. The brunette's expression sobered up really quickly.
"It may be a coincidence, but maybe this 'Isaac' has a little brother called Elliot?" Just like she had said, the world was pretty big, and the chances of her two acquaintances actually being in a relationship would be among the most surprising things the teenager would have to deal with today.
Whether Maia or Kuu or a combination of the elevator's occupants had enough time to respond or their minds would be occupied by the approaching swarm of bladed, flying machines was something that would be best left unsaid.
Guess this was also why she just didn't... want to use the elevator? Amy's options coursed through her head, and they more or less reached to the same conclusion.
Evolving would result in permanent damage to the elevator's stability at the very least, and the machine breaking down... or worse probably wasn't worth the risk.
Refraining seemed like the correct choice; besides, every digimon seemed to be way too eager to get into a fight; somebody keeping an eye on the humans seemed like a solid idea for her.
Not to say that Tawna had more or less... dun goofed, hadn't she? Teleporting at melee range of the enemy digimon made impossible for any kind of ranged attack to be used on the swarm of BladeKuwagamon without potentially putting her in harm's way, as she would eventually find out due to Dio's own attack as it careened towards the group that now had six individuals.
Their teamwork game probably needed some polishing; it was kinda lucky that the Meicrackmon was at least one level higher than the Panthermon because otherwise, that could've been a fatal mistake.
Lest to say, that wouldn't make the beating she was probably about to take any more bearable. And that's why she brought out a card in hopes of at least making things a little easier for Tawna.
And not to completely feel like a sitting duck, in all honesty. Amelie is using Chrome Digizoid Armor on Tawna.
Card Slashes left: 6
——ME-34 Card Name: Chrome Digizoid Armor Type: Modify Rank: Chrome Digizoid Duration: 3 Posts Effect: The target Digimon gains an armor made from solid Chrome Digizoid for three turns. Resistant to both physical and elemental strikes, it is a deadly efficient defense.

Was it weird that Maia could totally see Kuu and Tawna somehow becoming friends? Despite Tawna's notably more alarming features, the two seemed to be similar in some aspects. Maybe, if Kuu didn't have a permanent caffeine high, he'd be more like the feline-esque Digimon! Perhaps, he just needed a little more trauma in his life to reach that. Or, the Kudamon had been traumatized so horribly in some past life, that he looped to a hyperactive level of broken! Who knew? Maia certainly didn't, and had no intent on trying to have that sort of conversation with her partner.
With two of the girls talking about college, Maia bit her lip. She really needed to focus on her schooling. What was she even going to college for? With the potential internship with Mikemon, was the teen even going to go to a regular college? Futures were complicated. Maybe this was another thing the blonde shouldn't think too much on at a time like this!
At least everyone seemed somewhat understanding of the teen's dating life. Or just confused. Luckily, Ravenna had caught on particularly fast! Kuu flailed his head for a moment, trying to debate the accuracy of Ravenna's relationship, versus his tamer's. "It was kinda that once! But he's just a Digimon now!" Hopefully, this was not a permanent thing.
Hearing Amelie's speech on the matter seemed to bring the tamer around a little more, and she finally took a breath. It was a particularly strange fish analogy. She hadn't heard anyone go in-depth about the fish in the sea conversation before. Kuu decided to voice the primary concern that he had found from this speech, though! "Okay! Okay! I get that Maia's a yellow something because her hair color, right?" Had he ever even heard that term before? It was fairly obvious that Kuu didn't even know what a Yellow Tang was! "But aren't stingrays, like, grey or something? Isaac's not grey! That'd be creepy!" Oh. Because a human dating a Digimon wasn't creepy? "Grey is for zombies!" Or green. Or just decaying. Why was grey for zombies? "Or spray paint. Did you know you're not supposed to eat spray paint? It's bad for you. Just like batteries."
Well. Maia really couldn't disagree with that. But, she didn't want to think about her boyfriend being grey, either. Surely, the analogy was just examples of two totally different kinds of fish! Not that in-depth!
But, with the question about Elliot, things were surely going to fall into place. It seemed Amelie might actually know who they were talking about! Nodding her head, the blonde gave an affirmative, "mhm!" while trying to regain her voice still. Surely, this was going to help clear her from dating a Digimon! "He's--uh," words! Use them! "Spirit user. Normally."
"Except right now! Because he's stuck as a Digimon for savin' Maia from the D-Reaper!" Wow, way to remind Maia that it was her fault! "I miss those burny guys," the fox stated, dreamily. He never did get to lick one of them! Ah well. Maybe someday!
Luckily, this conversation wouldn't get much further. Less luckily, it was because they were under attack! Letting Tawna and Dio take the lead, Kuu remained on his tamer's shoulder. Once Tawna was within range of the enemies, the Kudamon looked at his human, tilting his head. "Stay safe?"
"Stay safe."
And, with that, the pipefox bounced off his tamer's shoulder, and finally followed the other two out of the elevator. A burst of light came from the rookie's body, as it quickly lengthened and altered to his own armor champion. Gliding alongside the elevator, it seemed that the Quetzalmon was intent on making sure the people within were going to remain unharmed.
While taking care to aim at one of the BladeKuwagamon farthest from Tawna's initial reach, to avoid accidentally hitting her, the ornament on the Armor Champion's tail glistened before firing off a beam of light. "Holy Lock!"
Kuu armor digivolves to Quetzalmon, and uses Holy Lock on one of the BladeKuwagamon.
Holy Lock: Fires a ray of light-based energy from the ornament on its tail.

The conversations between those on the elevator was entertaining for a variety of reasons. Once they moved past some of the darker subject matter, they shared some nice stories, and the topic of humans dating Digimon came up. So it sounds like it really was a case of Isaac originally being human, and currently stuck as a Digimon. However, Kuu took the "fish in the sea" analogy and ran further with it. Yellow tangs and stingrays would be stuck on Ravenna's mind for a while.
"Next time you're eating seafood, just think that it might be someone's soulmate on your plate, haha."
It sounds like Carlos plays a variety of music genres in his band. They cover songs and don't really subscribe to any one style.
"Ya, it would be fun to hang out and listen to music sometime. My friend also plays the guitar."
The good times would come to a halt, as Datamon detects hostile Digimon approaching. It is clear that stealth won't be an option. A swarm of BladeKuwagamon fly towards the elevator shaft.
"Looks like we're shifting gears. Let's get to work!"
Ravenna grabs her D-tector and raises it out. The device emits a violet colored energy that circles around her arm. Violet markings appear on her arms and face. A wave of energy rises up from the floor and spirals around Ravenna, as she spirit evolves to Suzamon, the psychic spirit. Her hair darkens and grows longer, she is clad in purple and black armor with black feathers, and two massive black bird wings stretch out from her back. Her pale thighs are showing as her shorts cling to her hips, with a skirt made out of feathers wrapped around most of her waist.
Suzamon dashes towards one of the walls of the elevator, using her intangibility to phase through and engage the attacking Digimon.
"What's this? They look like flying blades. You don't know who you're messing with! AAAAAWWWWK!"
Ravenna unleashes a Psychic Scream, attempting to disorient some of the enemies. ________________

OOC: Apologies for the delay!
Trying not to think of the implications of a human dating a digimon, Datamon and Kokabuterimon continued to keep the elevator in motion, concentrating with the best of their ability. Even so, Datamon's gears trembled a little as the buzzing got louder.
First to attack was Tawna, who swiftly positioned herself above the approaching BladeKuwagamon and attempted a most fearsome attack that sent red tentacles out into the approaching swarm. Two BladeKuwagamon managed to evade, but three were struck. Of these three, two were knocked off course, damaged but not ensnared, but the final one was ensnared, the tentacle wrapping around the metallic insect. Unable to struggle free, it counter-attacked with Amper Wave, attempting to send a current of electricity back through the tentacle to attack Tawna.
Next was Dio, who evolved to an interesting digimon that neither Datamon or Kokabuterimon had seen before. He attacked with a plume of dark fire that burst forth, striking not only one of the BladeKuwagamon that had evaded Tawna's attack, but also hitting the two that had been knocked off course, further damaging them. The chrome digizoid insects seemed to screech in pain, but they did not catch fire.
Amelie managed to equip Tawna with the chrome digizoid armor next. And with Kuu succeeding in striking the hitherto evasive BladeKuwagamon with Holy Lock, well, these adventurers were certainly earning their pay in Datamon's opinion.
Finally, Ravenna's attack managed to disorient the closest BladeKuwagamon, the other two that had been approaching managed to resist its effect using their buzzing to overcome the effects of the soundwaves. The disoriented BladeKuwagamon seemed to fly around in circles in a panic, but that left three BladeKuwagamon left to try and make a strike at those on the Elevator.
The first aimed for Kuu, quickly rotating its body between its electrified wings, faster and faster until it appeared to be a sparking buzzsaw. It aimed at the middle of his body. The second metallic insect turned its attention to the Panther digimon, its blue lightning wings turning white, its body beginning to shine intensely in the underground like sparks from an arc welder. It then launched itself straight at Dio, aiming to stab at him with its body.
The third Blade Kuwagamon, struck by two attacks, appeared to become most aggressive and copied its ensnared swarm-mate, sending sparks of lightning at the avian digimon that had attempted to disorient it earlier.
While the opening salvo had broken off the swarm's initial onslaught, they weren't done yet!
BladeKuwaga A is struck by Holy Lock. It counter-attacks Kuu with Sparkling Buzzsaw. BladeKuwaga B is struck by St Elmo's Fire. It counter-attacks Dio with Holy Thunder Blade. BladeKuwaga C is struck by Broken Toy and St Elmo's Fire. It becomes agitated, increasing its attack power by 30%. It launches an Amper Wave at Ravenna. BladeKuwaga D is struck by Broken Toy, St Elmo's Fire and Psychic Scream. It becomes agitated, increasing its attack power by 30%. It is too disoriented to attack this turn. BladeKuwaga E is ensnared by Broken Toy. It counter-attacks Tawna by using Amper Wave along the tentacle.
Attacks Used:
Sparkling Buzzsaw - Rotates its body at high speed, aiming to cut into an enemy with its electrified blade.
Holy Thunder Blade - Momentarily charges its body with light and launches itself at a target, aiming to pierce into them.
Amper Wave - Discharges sparks of high voltage electricity to strike at a target.

Post by Haru Toriya and Tawna on Jul 6, 2018 21:34:32 GMT
Tawna's style of fighting wasn't particularly flashy, nor was it calculated... The viral feline Digimon's primarily focus was wiping out any and ALL foes at no regard to their own safety. Even if only one had been ensnared by the tendrils of Arkadimon, two of the BladeKuwagamon were still lightly injured by her attack... a primal joy at the bloodshed caused coming back up as a sadistic smirk formed on the feline's face. Such a smirk didn't last for long though as the one BladeKuwagamon took advantage of being grappled by using it as a current to immediately electrocute, causing the Meicrackmon Vicious Mode to flinch as large voltage coursed through her.
Oh... She was going to enjoy this next part way more than she should be. Sure she was trying to play nice these days, but the key word there was trying.
As Tawna felt her form enveloped by a set of chrome digizoid armor (curious... Haru didn't have a card like that, at least she was relatively sure), her adrenaline and vicious smile returned as she yanked the Champion level still stuck to her still transmogrified hand closer... Perhaps dangerous to be yanking a living sword close to you, but with that armor... what was there to fear? With her foe entangled, unless they could manage to jerk themselves away at the last minute... Tawna's scorpion-like tail would whip back before attempt to cleanly shish kebab the Champion level. "Succulent Kiss!" the Ultimate level manically yelled, a hint of sadism in their tone as they attempted a stab into the mechanical bug.
Needless to say, this BladeKuwagamon would not like what happens next should the stinger hit. The others did appear to be doing a good job at handling the other BladeKuwagamon, but worst comes to worse... She would turn this swarm into a feast.
Tawna was damaged by Amper Wave, retaliating by yanking BladeKuwagamon forward to her and attempting Succulent Kiss on them. She was also equipped by Amelie's Chrome Digizoid Armor.
Succulent Kiss - [RAM UPGRADE] - Meicrackmon is a predator first and foremost, capable of consuming large amounts of data at once through the use of her stinger. By stabbing it into a foe or the terrain, she rapidly drains the target of their vitality while granting it to herself, dealing heavy damage in the process to living beings while desecrating the landscape in a 50 meter radius if it is tapped directly into. Due the nature of the attack, it is less effective on already barren terrain, though highly-lethal to those who are not healthy enough to survive the drain... capable of absorbing their data right then and there! Cannot stack with Power Siphon. (Cooldown: 4 turns)
Cooldowns: Brane Jumper: 1 Turn Broken Toy: Active Succulent Kiss: 4 Turns
Durations: Chrome Digizoid Armor: 3 Turns

Much to the panther's delight, their first assault against the incoming swarm had been a pretty succesful one, all the insects being struck by one or more attacks coming from the group, his own attack reaching three of them. Oh, how he was never going to let Carlos forget that one. Furthermore despite Tawna throwing herself head first into danger she had managed to not be accidentally struck by friendly fire. The Dark Lord couldn't contain a satisfied smirk at the sight, things were going rather smoothly, though said smirk didn't last for long, as he noticed one of the metallic bugs start glowing, before suddenly launching itself blade first in Dio's direction.
Without hesitating for a moment the feline made a small, quick leap to a side, managing to avoid being skewered by the BladeKuwagamon's attack, though he wasn't able to come out unscathed,as the glowing edge of the blade still partially slashed his left flank, leaving behind a small open wound. It was a superficial cut, but that didn't soften the blow to the Pantheramon's bloated ego.
With a snarl of both anger and pain Dio shot a hate filled glare at the BladeKuwagamon. He was not going to let such a thing go by unpunished. Unfortunately, this one had gotten a bit too close to the humans' location on the elevator, and the rest were already retaliating against their attackers. If he didn't deal with this one swiftly there was a chance the insect would try to go for the humans, and even with the Spirit Wielders as well as the two scientists there to defend the "normal" humans who knew what damage the insects could cause if left unchecked?
That was not a risk worth taking. Tensing his body, he could feel his form being enveloped by darkened flames, the hot fires glowing with an unnatural light. "Nightmare Vision!" Dio roared with fury as he charged at the BladeKuwagamon, his flame wreathed body intent on knocking his foe down.
Dio is partially damaged by Holy Thunder Blade, and retaliates by trying to tackle BladeKuwagamon with Nightmare Vision.
-Nightmare Vision: Envelops his body with black flames, charges forward and pounces on the opponent. Causes medium damage and may knock down enemies of the same size or smaller. May latch on to bigger opponents for a follow up attack. Three posts cooldown.
