Good - even at this early hour, the Zubamon understood the situation he was in. Dagger seemed grateful for what he was given, but not wanting for more - and as far as the Dark Area was concerned, that was the best that he could hope for. Of course, the Sorcermon didn't spend a moment more with him than necessary, merely taking a note of his compliance with a simple glance over his shoulder.
As Dagger would quickly find out, though the wizard gave strict orders to the metal dragon, the same strictness definitely didn't adhere to the employer. Stepping into the main hall, the Zubamon would find himself alone for a minute or two, left in the simple blue glow of the floating lanterns. The wooden floors creaked soon enough, and from the hall on the left, the Sorcermon stepped towards Dagger. Reaching a hand out, he placed something onto his claw: a long blue crystal, tied around a strong cord. "Your door key," the wizard explained. "So long as you hold this, you'll be able to pass through the stone door without my help. Hold it up, and the gem will respond and point back here. When it turns red, it is time to return to the manor."
Simple enough? Without leaving time for questions, the Sorcermon would step forward, right through the door - and the Zubamon would find himself able to follow easily enough. Just outside, the Cherubimon sat, turning and looking down at the two as they walked out. "You have them?"
"Three..."
Slowly, Cherry lowered a hand, opening his palm before the two of them. Inside, dagger would see three different types of mineral: one, a chunk of rock with lines of what appeared to be silver running through them; two, another chunk that held a red metallic color, and three, what looked to be a solid piece of red gemstone.
"These are the products of our quarry,." the Sorcermon nodded, taking the first stone, holding it to the Zubamon to examine, before passing him the red ore: "Silver and Red Digitite. Properly refined, this is an important component in making items out of Digizoid. And this," The Sorcermon plucked that red gem out of the Cherubimon's hand, upon which it promptly turned blue. Passing it into Zubamon's hands, the gem would turn green, "is an Enchanter's Stone. For example, the crystal you're wearing, the door, and the lanterns inside the manor are all products of this ore."
That said, he took the three items, and pushed aside a flat rock with his foot - revealing a chute underneath. Dropping the three pieces right in the hole, he quickly replaced the stone. "Cherry will be breaking open a new part of the quarry, and it will be both your and his job to scout for and collect as much of this as possible. Cherry can sense the ore inside rock, but can't break it open without rendering the ore into sand."
This was the reason, of course, he had inspected the dragon's blade. "Cherry's presence will prevent other wild beasts from coming into the area. Should you see anyone other than me, hide in the crags unless Cherry approaches them with lowered hands. Any questions?"

Grasping the door key Dagger would follow behind the Sorcermon outside as he carefully hung the crystal around his neck. The last thing he wanted was to get locked out and further separated from his twin and Tamer. Still the solemn oppressive atmosphere of the Dark area left the usually chatty and cheerful rookie silent as he eyed the Cherubimon somewhat warily before glancing at the rocks and crystal offered to him. Turning the ore over in his palms the Zubamon lifted it to his nose sniffing it as he inspected it closely. The metal had a more distinct smell then the likes of the crystal. The veins he decided would likely be far easier to find though he'd simply have to depend on luck for the enchanting stone.
The fact the Cherubimon could sense them though would make the job far easier. While he'd hoped to test his blade more in combat Dagger supposed this was yet another way to hone his edge.
"No questions. I believe I have the jist of it all. Cherry finds the ore and crystal, I slice and break it open. We both collect what we find and bring it back." The Zubamon repeated glancing between the Sorcermon and the manor behind him where Cas and his twin lay.
"We run into anyone else I hide till Cherry clears them and we come back when the crystal changes..." He spoke trailing off. While not as clever as his twin Dagger had always been a rather fast learner. Having needed to be to keep up with his siblings twisting tactics.
"Just look out for them." Dagger murmured turning to follow the large virus mega digimon. They had a long day in front of them.
Meanwhile Cloak's day was only beginning. Opening gold eyes the first thing the Kotemon registered was that he was alone. Bereft of the presence of his Tamer and twin he stared in carefully controlled alarm at the ceiling above him as he took great pains to lay still and silent. Lest he tip off an enemy to his awakening. The soft feel of a sheets and a bed beneath him left him in further confusion as the swordsman tried to reason how he'd come to be here. The last thing he remembered was the skeletal fox abomination. It's corrupt data bleeding from hit's bisected lower torso like dark oil as he'd scooped up his injured Tamer and ran...well more like limped away with Dagger at his heels.
His Tamer....Hime... The Kotemon thought his mind a twisted snarl of fractured memories before snapped upright catching foreign movement in his periphery vision as he drew and threw his sword through the air with cold efficiency intending to pin the potential opponent to the wall with the weapon for further interrogation. The blade that left his hands though was not the wavy blood red edge of the sword he had wielded before. Leaving the digimon briefly confused as he watched the harmless wooden shinai fly through the air even as he glanced down at his own sleeved hands far smaller....far weaker then he remembered and cursed.

"Hm. Work hard. You'll have a chance to refill that canteen around noon."
That was the last 'warning' that the Sorcermon gave, before giving a nod to send the two off. The Cherubimon gave his own, slow nod to the sorcerer, giving a brief look down at Dagger, as if trying to commit his appearance to memory. "Hm..." His expression would remain floaty and curious as ever, as he would lead the metallic dragon out into the darkened wasteland. Really, all Dagger would have to go on for time was the crystal itself - it wouldn't help that very little light broke through the dark cloud cover above. Eventually, the pair would come across a rather smooth surface of rock - and the Cherubimon would motion for Dagger to step back, the fallen angel resting his hands on the surface before him.
A brief purple light flashed through his hands - and in the next instant, that same energy surged up from the rock, tearing up the ground below, making it look very much like the place Zubamon and his group hid last evening. That ghastly purple energy continued to rise and congregate, forming up into a crackling sphere into the air. With one flick of his wrist, that ball was sent careening over the cliffs, propelled far over the Sea of Blood.
"Come, now." He nodded to the Zubamon, heading out into that newly crafted quarry...
Back in the manor, the Sorcermon gave a sigh, passing back through that solid stone door. He gave a brief glance at the stairwell, then towards the kitchen - nothing seemed out of place or broken, so thankfully, the Kotemon hadn't likely woken up as of yet. At this point, he figured he might as well check on the other rookie - so he made his way back up the stairs, and gave that door a slight crack open...
Thwack!
The Shinai connected straight with the Sorcermon's shoulder, the wizard gritting his teeth underneath his collar, as he watched that tool bounce uselessly on the floor. However, he did not raise his hand nor turn his staff towards the Kotemon. Rather, he simply knelt down, and plucked that weapon straight off the ground, offering it back to the rookie.
"I'm willing to let that one go exactly once, Kotemon. I'm sure you're confused, but are you feeling any better than yesterday?" Despite his slight injury, the Sorcermon remained incredibly calm, almost caring in tone. "You're safe where you are."

Dagger would follow the floating virus mega digimon out into the wastes. The only definitive light being that from the crystal or the weak grey sunlight that managed to filter through the dark cloud cover above. The little rookie though would have to scramble a bit to keep up with the much larger Cherubimon, but at the fallen angels motioned he would back off watching with curiosity as it grasped the stone. The light glowing from it's hands and the ground in an eerie and sickly display before....
"Holy $&#@ on a Digital cracker." The Zubamon breathed out in surprise his eyes as wide as tea saucers as he eyed the destruction before them that had created the new 'quarry' as it were. Sighing the little digimon shook himself, his armor rattling with the motion as he moved to descend into the crags alongside the Cherubimon.
"I guess let's get this over with." He muttered trailing his clawed fingers along the stony side.
___________________________________________________________________________________________
For a long silent moment Cloak merely observed the Sorcermon as his sleeved hands gripped the edge of the covers that now pooled in his lap tight enough one might worry he might tear them. Slowly though the little swordsman reached out accepting his weapon back with care torn between what he needed to know and his own manners.
"I...am intact." He spoke finally settling on the brief summary of his own status as he kept he gaze solidly on the champion Digmon.
"I was accompanied by two companions. My Tamer and my twin a Zubamon. Where are they I I might ask?" Cloak demanded formally with all the strained politeness he could manage. Keeping the violence that sang through his veins demanding that he rip this place apart until he located Cas restrained. At least until he learned whether he was a guest or simply a prisoner in a nicely gilded cage.

"Hmm..."
Right now, Dagger and Cherry were viewing two entirely different situations. For Dagger, this was likely grueling but necessary work, but to the Cherubimon, he seemed to treat this as almost a game, or at the very most a child's chore. As soon as the quarry opened up, Cherry's eyes quickly scanned over a small section of the quarry, quickly plucking up a boulder in his hand. He turned it once over, eyes giving a pulse, before setting it carefully next to the dragon. The next rock he found, Cherry simply blinked at it, before hurling it off past the cliffs.
At the very least, their roles were set...
As for Cloak, well, it took him a moment to reel back his panic. The Kotemon managed to at least somewhat settle himself back on his bed, managing to ask a simple question to the wizard. No apology was given, but given the Kotemon's state, Sorcermon was willing to let that one slide as well.
"Hm. To answer all of your questions, you are currently in the Dark Area, on my estate. My guard and I found your group injured, and the Zubamon pleaded to us for help - and as such, you were brought into my manor. As your wounds were minor, I placed you in a separate room from your tamer - though you are free to see her condition." He nodded, pointing to the room next to him down the hall.
"In exchange for my service, your brother has agreed to work in my quarry. Right now, he is out in the field, and will be beckoned to return a little after noon."
He spoke calmly - but every word the Sorcermon gave, there was an edge to his tone. Like he was making it clear that there wasn't room for any argument to his word.

Now that the threat of possibly being destroyed, rendered down to data fragments, and his Tamer killed had passed Dagger found himself observing the Cherubimon far closer then he had before. He was still wary of the giant digimon, but as it set the first boulder before him Dagger narrowed his eyes before lashing out with his talons slicing the boulder neatly in two before bashing it with his tail to crumble it to make it easier to pick through. Pawing through the broken hunks of rock for the ore or crystal they sought he glanced up at the larger digimon.
"Hey...Cherry right? How'd you end up working out here?" Dagger questioned with a curious cant of his head.
___________________________________________________________________________________________
The Dark area...yes he remembered, well partially remembered being Baalmon. Remembered falling into the Cliffs of Chaos with Cas and Dagger, but the memories were jumbled and disjointed leaving the Kotemon wincing slightly in pain as images that didn't belong kept trying to fit themselves into the slots of what he could recall from the fight. Even now as he glanced down at his own hands they felt...wrong. Like his form was just a poorly fitting outfit rather then his own skin. He should be taller, but the thought left him with a lance of pain burrowing its way through his mind. Taking a deep breath Cloak tried to force himself to calm. The implied authority in the Sorcermon's tone rankling him in a way such things never had before.
How dare he order him like that? Like he was...like he was some sort of rookie....
But he was a rookie? Wasn't he?
"Thank you for your hospitality." The Kotemon intoned clipping any emotion from his polite words like a gardener might clip flowers before they could bloom. The Digimon not trusting the harsh flowering of emotions dark, strange, and familiar in his chest.
"I would like to see my Tamer with my own eyes if you would not mind." Cloak spoke dancing around the topic at hand for while the Sorcermon made clear his word was law it was likewise clear that whether he minded very much or not the swordsman would not be kept from the woman in the next room. He simply had to good sense to at least don the trappings of civility while he plied his wits and felt out the board to learn exactly what game he and the champion were playing.

The Sorcermon's claims of Cherry's eyes rang through with that first find - even with that boulder broken apart into fairly large pieces of rubble, Dagger would see the sharp glow of green, the light of the Enchanter's Stone radiating right off of his golden armor. In all, there looked to be about five sizeable pieces of the mineral - was this a lucky find, or simply par the course for this quarry?
The Cherubimon didn't seem to spare it more than a glance, anyway. Already examining the next boulder, his ear gave a twitch to the Zubamon's question. He tilted his head in thought, as if trying to gather his words. "Known wizard... long time. Wizard made Cherry calm." Did that explain it well enough? "Like calm. No hurt. Can even... speak." He set down another stone next to the dragon, leaving the conversation a bit one-sided.
At least, for the moment. He likely wasn't even sure how to entirely respond to someone other than Sorcermon!
The tensity in this room could be cut with a knife, and the Sorcermon was well aware of it. It was part of the reason he kept his poise, standing tall near the door so as to solidify his position - and at least in words, the Kotemon understood his position. He managed a bit of thanks, as well as brought up his main concern:
Cassandra. The Sorcermon gave a nod, and stepped back from the door. "I shall caution you - this is the condition that I found her in." He would allow the Kotemon access to that adjacent room, to observe that wounded tamer held in stasis - still in the very condition that she was left in later, as if not even a second had passed.
Surely, the rookie would be concerned.
"It is the best I can do at the moment. Medical skills are not my prowess - until someone capable arrives, I can only keep her held like this."
And thus, the situation was laid plainly out - with quite a few omissions that one, calm enough, could plainly see.

"Yeah calm is good." Dagger murmured carefully prying the hunks of crystal out with his claws and setting them to the side even as he considered the Cherubimon's words. Not to mention being left to ponder just what the Sorcermon had done to bring the Mega under his sway. To calm a digimon capable of wreaking such havoc.
"Cas does that for me too. Cloak....Cloak not so much, but he's my twin and we like to bicker." The Zubamon spoke more talking just to fill the silence then anything else as he lowered his head and charged the next boulder this one shattering much more cleanly then the last one as he shook the dirt and rubble from his face with a huff. Leaning down to inspect the remains for anything of note.
"I know humans are delicate, but I never really thought...well I mean you've only seen her hurt and unconscious, but you should see her Cherry. I bet if she'd been awake she wouldn't have even been nervous of you." The Rookie mused his voice going soft and tone impossibly fond at the mention of his Tamer. A small smile playing across his face at the thought of Cas witnessing the Cherubimon.
___________________________________________________________________________________________
The Kotemon stared at the unmoving figure of his Tamer impassively as he shoved the emotions that threatened to overwhelm him into the back of his mind. Leaving only cold logic to reign as the little rookie stepped forward reaching out to place one sleeved palm lightly on the crystal that encased the woman he loved more then life itself like a glittering coffin. Her condition seemed to have changed little since before he had lost consciousness, but like his brother he noticed something was off...nothing he could place his finger on, but there was a change to the Tamer that Cloak was unsure he liked. Lifting his gaze from the human where she lay silent and still like a figure from a fairytale he turned his head to slowly pin the Sorcermon with his stare.
"And when will this help be arriving? I doubt even you can keep her held captive from the grip of time forever." The Swordsman asked his golden eyes sharp and too clever by half where they watched the Champion from the shadowed confines of his helmet. For he had little doubt that the Sorcermon held all the cards and would not put it past the stranger to drag out his twins servitude with whispered promises of 'soon' never meant to be fulfilled. Cloak though was faster to pick up on such treachery. Seeing as it was an old tactic all his own... or so he thought the Kotemon wincing in pain unsure where such knowledge had come from.
Still if an enemy held all the cards...steal the aces out of another deck.

'Calm was good'. It was such a simple comment, and it was one of the few things that Cherry was sure of. Regardless of the conversation, though, it seemed that Dagger was quick to pick up on the rhythm for the task. It wasn't Dagger's job to traverse through the sharp crags in a vain effort to find unseen ore - the Cherubimon was already more than capable of finding what they need. Rather, Dagger had just about the perfect set of tools for his own job, to both break apart the stone and carefully sift through the rubble with his sharp claws.
The second boulder, unlike the first, didn't seem to hold anything - at least, not by eyesight. In this poor light, Dagger would have to rely on his sense of smell to pick out the rich chunks of Digitite ore that littered the ground around him.
"Cas?" Continuing his own search, the Cherubimon's ears flickered as Dagger spoke warmly over his tamer. He still didn't know how to respond, but the mega seemed at least sensitive to the tone - a tone that felt fond, felt nice. "Cas... Cas is human? Cas good?"
A third rock was set down, in the trash rubble of the first...
Of course, the Kotemon was cautious. Waking up in an unknown manor claiming to be in the middle of the Dark Area, to be told that 'help was coming' for your tamer was never a comfortable thing... but the Kotemon was just a bit too 'on the noise' with his tone. What did he mean by 'captive' - was he insinuating that the Sorcermon was keeping her here for nefarious means?
"Twenty-seven days, give or take one." The Sorcermon's answer rang out with certainty: "Three days before today, my contact from Fragment Village arrived to gather last month's take. The cloud cover outside makes sending signals inconsistent, and traveling through the Dark Area in your condition is wholly unwise."
He gave a nod to the Kotemon: "You will wait. And you will travel back with the contact the next time he arrives. Until then, take solace that your tamer and your brother are safe... and be very careful with your tone around me, little one."

The ore was indeed much harder to locate then the mere likes of the crystal which glowed clear and readily when the rock was shattered. Instead Dagger sifted through the rubble carefully nose twitching as he determined what was rock and what was ore and sent the useless hunks of stone flying before collecting what they sought. The third rock would be met with quick and efficient destruction as the Zubamon slowly began to fall into a routine. Only pausing every so often to take a sip of his water.
"Mhm Cas is human. She's good. She's a Doctor." Dagger explained picking over the latest boulder he'd shattered with deft claws in search of their prize in the dim light of the crystal that hung about his neck.
"Doctors help sick and hurt people. She likely would have helped herself too, but..." And the Zubamon trailed off his jaw tightening in pain and anger his eyes dark. "But my twin and I weren't strong enough to protect her while she healed." He added his voice whisper soft in his sorrow.
"But she's going to pull through and be just fine." Dagger added with more force as though his belief could make it so.
___________________________________________________________________________________________
Though the little rookie still stood with one hand resting protectively on the crystal casing of his Tamer some of the innate tension in the swordsmans shoulders slowly bled out. His stance relaxing minutely at the Sorcermon's words though the idea of Cas being trapped within a timeless coma for close to if not longer then a month sparked a deep distress within the digimon's bones. Still better a coma then dead. Slowly despite his pride the Kotemon dipped his head in a nod of respect and thanks.
"I understand." He murmured and at least in this the twins so different in manners were the same. Eyeing the Champion for a long silent moment Cloak finally pierce the quiet once more.
"I apologize for my wariness." Cloak spoke his tone soft though the words were likely hollow. Meant more out of politeness then any real regret as it was doubtful he would ever regret protecting his Tamer. "She thought of the person who did this to her as a friend. They repaid her mercy and kindness with pain."

And so, their routine had been set out for them: Cherry would break up the ground and provide the boulders, while Dagger would refine them further, and extract as many usable pieces as he could manage. The third boulder, the fourth, the fifth... if he had cared to count at the start, he'd likely lose interest some point soon, as the work itself started to be ingrained into the memory of his muscles.
As they worked, Cherry's ears twitched at Zubamon's words. Cas was a human - a good human, one who helped those who were feeling sick. And right now, she was sick, or at least something close to it. The Cherubimon's eyes caught the scary, angry visage of that Zubamon...
... Which was enough for the Cherubimon to come closer, and carefully rest the back of his knuckle against Dagger's chin. "Cas will be fine. Wizard made me fine."
If only it were so even...
Cloak's question was answered, and though he might not have liked the timeframe, the Kotemon seemed to accept it without question. Despite the concession of the period, the Sorcermon didn't seem to lose any leverage - it just so happened to be as long as he expected to be able to use Dagger's services.
As for the Kotemon's follow-up, though, the wizard merely gave a tip of his hat, sighing as he shook his head. "To be clear, do not think of me as your 'friend', or even 'on your side'. Your tamer likely won't ever even see my face." The Sorcermon's words were sharp: "But at least like that, you can trust me as one held to a contract. A solid vow, rather than something as fickle as that sort of bond..."
Hmph. The wizard turned to make his leave. "Come on down if you need something to eat. Otherwise, rest up. I can feel that corrupt energy burning from here."

"Yeah. I'm sure your right Cherry." Dagger murmured as the pair worked. Now that the rookie was falling into routine his pace was picking up leaving the two digimon to work like a well oiled machine.
"Nothing I can really do, but hope." He spoke taking a sip of his canteen as Dagger eyed their growing pile.
______________________________________________________________________________________________
"I prefer contracts to friendships. There are less...variables with them." The Kotemon murmured far from upset at the prospect of the Sorcermon remaining distant from his Tamer. If anything the less who encountered her the better in his mind. While he knew Cas would never give up himself or his twin, something she had proven all too readily with their encounter with the D-reaper, he didn't trust others not to decide to acquire her for themselves. Viktor's interest had been too keen and dangerous for Cloak's liking.
The Kotemon though would allow the Sorcermon to leave in silence. Turning back to his Tamer instead for a moment before he too would take his leave to rest. "Soon..." He whispered as much to reassure her as himself.

There was little either of them could do, but hope...
For now, the pair had little choice to do anything but that.- and for the next several days, the process would follow the same lines. Dagger would be allotted a small break around whatever passed for 'noon' in this dim land, and at the end of the shift - around what would be 6 in the evening, when even the sky's red hue vanished - Cherry and the Zubamon would be called back to the manor, for the Sorcermon to evaluate their work, comparing their take to their 'target'. If they were to come short, Dagger would usually bare the brunt of the criticism (as much as Cherry would want to come to his defense, the timid mega preferred not to overstep the Wizard's words).
But they would be just that - words. The evening would be about the only chance Cloak and Dagger had to talk together, before the process would repeat itself. On the eighth day, Dagger would have been familiar enough with the process, both he and Cherry breaking through a fresh quarry. It would be about an hour before the Zubamon would have had a chance to refill his canteen, and in all likelihood, the two were simply working through at a normal pace...
... Until Cherry's ear perked at something in the distance. The mega's reaction would have been uncharacteristic of anything the Zubamon would have seen before: with a sniff into the air, the fallen angel let the boulder fall straight from his hand. His lips pulled back, fangs bared, as he 'felt' something off in the distance: he rested with his back arched, fist planted into the ground, looking very much like a cornered animal defending his nest.
Perhaps he was. Zubamon would hear the sound of grating metal a moment later, as a mechanical beast stomped over in their direction:
"Bad..." Cherubimon's tone was concise, a clear sense of uncertainty filling his throat. "You small. Hide. Eats metal." Slowly and carefully, the Cherubimon stepped forward, a tight purple aura surrounding his frame. Very quickly, it seemed this place was going to get out of control!

Curiosity was a damning trait shared by The Zubamon and his Tamer alike as the little digimon poked it's head up over the edge only to lay it's small ears flat back against it's skull in shock and fear. The last thing Dagger wanted to hear was that this thing ate metal. Seeing as he was metal not to mention the thing might tear the quarry a new one. While for the most part Dagger was meeting the quota Sorcermon had for them, really he suspected the operation was doing much better now with his help then it was before seeing as Cherry didn't have to hand pick things anymore, he doubted they'd meet their numbers if this thing tore through.
Not needing to be told twice Dagger dove into the cover of the ravine. "Call me if you need help Cherry." Dagger called out as he wriggled his way into one of the smaller nooks of the digimon made canyon. At least here that metal monstrosities claws would be unlikely to reach him given it's large size and hopefully buying him time should it get into the ravine.
"Just be safe." He added a little softer. Maybe the Cherubimon was a bit terrifying at first, but Dagger had gotten rather used to his presence and didn't want to see the soft-hearted Digimon hurt. Sadly without Cas there was little in way of assistance he could provide and for not the first time nor the last he wished his Tamer was whole and awake rather then laying in a deathless frozen sleep.

Right - there was no need for the living piece of metal to get involved. Cherry hoped that he could simply avoid a confrontation outright: keeping his back arched and fangs visible, the Cherubimon gave a slow 'prowl' in the direction of the machine. His poise was like one defending a nest, and would be very clear even from a distance:
Leave, or things were going to get ugly.
The Machinedramon, however, seemed uninterested in such an effort. Instead, its cannons gave a whir, a yellow glow pulsing deep inside as they lined up for the fallen angel. Cherry knew what it was: a straight line attack, one that he could easily bound over. His feet even started to tense, but... if he moved, what would happen to Dagger?
"Guh!" Cherry grit his teeth, and brought his palms together, a blast of dark energy quickly building up. As the Giga Cannon tore forth, all Dagger might see was a blinding wall of light either side, as the Cherubimon pressed his hands down the middle, the purple energy splitting the blast... at least, somewhat! Once the cannon's roar died out and the light faded, Cherry gave a growl: both of his forearms were burnt, a data trail leaking out of his left arm.
Before Dagger might object, he already gave a leap - landing straight on the Machinedramon, in the distance! The mechanical beast growled and writhed, as Cherry brought his arms around, a tight grapple starting to make the metal underneath twist and groan. In all this, the crystal at Dagger's neck gave a red glow, signalling for him to come straight back...
