Few places on Cat Street get as many customers as the Koma Café. It's one of the area's hottest hangouts. It also serves as a convenient meeting spot. Ravenna, a college student, track athlete, and Digimon Spirit User, often spends her time at the café, looking to meet clients for her new recovery service. Word is starting to get around town that when something goes missing, there's a girl at the café who will get it back. Or at least, Ravenna is hoping that word will spread soon. While she's been on a few adventures recently, she hasn't had an official client yet. Hopefully this will be the day someone requires her services.
Ravenna sits alone in a booth close by the entrance, wearing a lightweight white and silver jacket. When looking towards the counter, she can see people entering in the reflection of the glass below the counter. She has been coming here so often, she's starting to make friends with the people who work there. Ravenna takes a big sip from her melon soda. If it wasn't for the servers, the table would probably be covered with empty soda bottles. As time passes, she starts to lose hope that someone will need her to find a lost or stolen item today. Surely there had to be a demand for this kind of thing. As long as she didn't have to find missing socks. Ravenna also has to be careful, as she didn't want to end up getting tricked into stealing something. She wasn't a thief in her mind. She would only take back what rightfully belonged to the clients. Still, the similarities were undeniable.

The cafe was winding down for the day when a new customer walked in. However, the business they were interested in was not with the cafe itself, but one of the people residing within it. Approaching the bar one of the waiters pointed back towards Ravenna's table as the customer in question turned giving the not-a-thief the first good look at her potential client. The woman was in her early to mid twenties, short blonde hair framed her face like a lions mane bringing out the bright blue of her eyes and accenting the small scar beneath her left one. She wore a olive drab leather bomber jacket over a black long sleeved turtleneck and back cargo pants. Her steel toed boots and leather gloves were scuffed with wear, everything about the woman screamed competence and quiet confidence as she strode towards the younger girl.
Offering her a slim smile she took a seat across from Ravenna. Settling her elbows on the table she rested her chin in her cupped hand and tilting her head at the other woman finally spoke. "Rumor has it that you are the person to talk about finding and retrieving stolen items. Is that true?" She asked those bright intelligent blue eyes seeming to pin the younger girl to her seat beneath her gaze as she waited for her response.

Someone walking into the café catches Ravenna's eye. This woman appears to be in her early to mid twenties, and has short blonde hair. She seems to have confidence in spades. Ravenna likes her sense of style. After speaking with the bartender, the woman sits down across from Ravenna. She puts her elbows up on the table and rests her chin on her hand. Ravenna responds with a nervous smile, trying not to look too happy. Someone has finally come seeking her help? It was difficult to contain her excitement. The woman asks Ravenna if she's the person to talk with to find lost and stolen items.
"Yes, I am. My name is Ravenna. I'm happy to have some interest. I can recover lost or stolen items, for the right price. Never pay more with Nevermore Recovery Service! What is it I can help you with?"
Ravenna could tell that there is something on the woman's mind. She must have lost an item very important to her. This is just the kind of business Ravenna is hoping to drum up. A job where she can put her skills to good use. Ravenna does her best to stay focused on acting professionally. She couldn't get into the details of how she would procure the items, as that would mean revealing that she is a Spirit User. Casually mentioning that you can turn into a bird has a weird effect on people. As handy as it can be.

The woman gives a sharp nod satisfied with Ravenna's answer as she straightens up a bit looking pleased to have found the person she'd been searching for. "It's lovely to meet you Ravenna though I wish it was under better circumstances. I'm Dr. Cross, but I go by Cas for the most part." She spoke getting their introductions out of the way as one of the waiters wandered up. The woman was quick to order a cola before quietly observing the Waiter till he departed out of ear shot before she turned back to the other girl.
"Recently I've had an item very dear to me stolen. A dark blue leather bound book of fairytales with worn gold leafing. It has very little monetary value, but for sentimental reasons it's of great importance I get it back." Cas explained offering the other girl a small smile as if to silently say 'I know it's silly' in regards to her description of the item.
"I believe a group of thugs calling themselves the Yokai might have taken it. A few of their outlying patrols have been seen near my clinic and they've expressed interest in me in the past. I would be much obliged if you could find my book and return it to me. I'm willing to pay half your price up front as a sign of good will and the remaining amount upon return of my item." She offered having checked about in regards to what the not-a-thief charged as she fished the small envelope with the first part of the payment from inside her bomber jacket and set it carefully between them.

So, her first client is a doctor? Classy. The woman introduces herself as Dr. Cross, or Cas. A waiter walks over and Cas orders a drink. Once the waiter is far enough away, Cas gets into the details of the missing item. She wants Ravenna to find, a book of fairytales? Alright, that sounds easy enough. Maybe she has more than enough reason to be sentimental about the book. Cas looks a little embarrassed talking about it, but Ravenna didn't mind. There are things Ravenna has that mean so much to her.
"A leather bound book, dark blue, gold leafing. Alright. This sounds like it's right up my alley."
Cas goes on to explain that there are a group of thugs known as the Yokai who have taken an interest in her. The reality of the situation sinks in on Ravenna. This wasn't like finding a lost keychain. Hearing about the Yokai made Ravenna a little nervous, but she knows she can rely on her skills as a Spirit User to handle things. Cas tells Ravenna that she will pay half up front, and the rest upon successfully returning the book to her. She reaches into her bomber jacket and sets an envelope down on the table.
Ravenna subtly looks around to see if anyone is looking. She slowly reaches towards the envelop, taking a peak at the money inside. As a college student on a set budget, it seems like a lot of money to Ravenna. She has decided to take the case. Ravenna nods at Cas, then carefully picks up the envelop and places it in her jacket pocket.
"You can count on me. I'll get you your book back. Anything else I should know? I'll start tracking down these Yokai thugs right away. What do they look like?"

"The Yokai can be identified by their oni masks and the chains they wear around their left arms. Real creepy looking guys, but the masks hamper their vision a little so if you can keep to their periphery you'll have an easier time staying out of their line of sight." Cas suggested wracking her mind over anything else she could think of to give the young woman an edge. She was a bit nervous sending her in there, but hoped this would be a simple get in and get out mission for the girl.
"If it gets too hot for you I won't blame you for backing out. If you decide to drop the job I'd like half the upfront payment back, but you can keep the rest as hazard pay. I try to be fair as I understand how cut throat this work can be." She explained accepting her drink from the waiter when he came back by. Sipping it idly she sized up the girl across from her up and found her rather wanting. However, Cas knew she herself didn't look like much and sometimes appearing harmless was to your advantage.
"Feel free to get started whenever you like. They mostly group up near the rougher areas of Greater Shibuya." The Doctor added tossing in that tidbit on where Ravenna might find the thugs.

Cas provides information on the Yokai. Oni masks and chains on their left arms. What's interesting is that their masks limit their vision. This could be crucial. Cas is very friendly in negotiating. If Ravenna does drop the job, she needs to give half the upfront pay back. It sounds like a dangerous task, but Ravenna is not as meek as she appears. While she feels some anxiety about the risk involved, Raye is looking forward to completing the job. When Cas takes a drink, Ravenna finishes off the rest of her soda.
"Thugs wearing oni masks and chains, the sketchy areas of Greater Shibuya, and failure means I give back half of the first half. Sounds like we have a deal. I don't intend to let you down, Cas. I'll give you my phone number, and you can text me where to meet you."
Ravenna takes out a business card with her number on it and hands it to Cas.
"It was nice to meet you. I'll get your book back real soon."
Ravenna gets up from the table, and does a small bow to Cas. As she is walking towards the exit, she looks over at the bartender, who gives her a thumbs up. It was a nonverbal way of telling her good job on getting a client, and he will add the drinks to her tab. Ravenna smiles and nods at the bartender before leaving the café. Once outside, Ravenna starts walking down the street, looking for a place she can Spirit Evolve to Psycrowmon for a little undercover work.

"Thank you Ravenna." Cas murmurs with a demure smile and a confident nod as she leaves the younger girl to take her leave while the Doctor herself finishes her soda. Outside Cat street was as busy as always, but a few blocks down the spirit user would be able to find a relatively empty alley way. While not the best area to transform the alley was filled with large dumpsters that were easy to duck behind to hide one from sight. In addition there weren't any overhanging wires or grates for a bird large or small to get caught in should they take off.
If Ravenna chose to transform here it wouldn't take her long to reach Greater Shibuya by wing. The nice buildings and districts of Northern Shibuya giving way the dilapidated houses, empty ruins, and foreclosed businesses that made up much of the rougher district. The only bright spots being Spain Hill and the hustle and bustle of the Udagawa Backstreets. Still a bit of patrolling would eventually reveal a small group of three thugs near the backstreets that matched Cas's description of the Yokai.

A few blocks down the street from the café, Ravenna turns down a dark alley. She checks if the coast is clear, then takes cover behind a dumpster. Taking out her D-tector, she spirit evolves to Psycrowmon. In this form, she would appear to be an average bird. However, this form did have its side effects. She was tempted to eat some leftover food sitting in the dumpster, but she has other priorities at the moment.
Ravenna takes off into the sky, flying to Greater Shibuya. She went from the high class neighborhoods of Northern Shibuya to the decaying structures in the rougher district. Psycrowmon flies around for a while, checking out the area. She comes across three thugs near the backstreets that match Cas' description. Ravenna swoops down for a landing to take a closer look. She perches on a window ledge above the trio, waiting to hear some information that could be useful. They probably wouldn't pay her any mind, believing her to be just a bird.

The three thugs amble past her and while they're clearly meant to be on patrol it's rather obvious they're taking the opportunity to slack off a bit as they gossip while they walk. The group seems to be made up of two men from their figures and one woman. Their voices are muffled, but not too difficult to understand.
"I think he's cracked~" One of the three, the Woman, mutters as she ambles over to check behind a dumpster clearly half-assing her scouting duty. "I think that dainty little Doctor did in his sanity just like she did a number on his face." The Woman adds earning a snort of laughter from her two male colleagues.
"I don't care how cracked the Thief is. He's still useful to the Yokai and at least now he's less prone to running his mouth like some sort of hotshot." The taller of the two men grouched out, clearly the leader.
"He always thought he was so much better then the rest of us. Well she sure showed him, but here he is still trying to boss us around. Like he didn't get put on the floor by the little bi~" The smaller of the two thugs growled out only to be cut short as the leader of the group hit him hard with an open palmed strike against the back of the head.
"You got a problem with him why don't you say it to his face rather then making us listen to you?" The Leader barked out earning only silence form the smaller of the two thugs. "Yeah I thought as much." The thug spat out in derision as he turned to continue leading them down the alley.
"I'm sure he'd fill you full of those scalpels he's become so fond of." The Leader muttered with a slight shudder. The trio were meandering closer and closer to an old concrete office building by then. Most of it's windows boarded up and Yokai patrols were becoming thicker likely signalling this was their new base.
"Look all I'm saying is if he's skilled enough to get into her house and steal a book no matter what he claims about it being for information gathering he should have just nabbed the little Doc." The smaller of the two thugs grumbled earning an exasperated sigh from their female companion. "Instead he's cooped up in his room 'studying' it." The man grouched as the trio fell silent as they began to pass the various check-ins to enter their new base of operations.

Ravenna listens in as the Yokai thugs talk amongst themselves while half-assing their patrol. The woman of the group mentions a doctor, and something she did to one of the Yokai thugs. Is she referring to the same woman who came to Ravenna seeking aid? Ravenna hops along the ledge, pretending to be foraging for food. The tall thug, the leader, refers to someone as the thief. The thug claims that the thief is still useful, even though he has allegedly cracked. The three of them didn't seem to care for the thief too much, but the leader did play devil's advocate, putting the short thug in his place.
The trio of thugs makes their way towards a large concrete office building that looks like it had been abandoned. An ideal place for the Yokai to congregate. The short bandit goes on to mention that the thief is skilled enough to break into her house and steal a book, and that he's practically locked himself in his room reading it. This had to be the person she is looking for. Ravenna is a little creeped out that one of the Yokai is stalking Dr. Cross. Ravenna is trying to piece together how events unfolded based on bits and pieces of this conversation. Something had happened between the doctor and the thief that left the thief with a scar not just on his face, but his mind.
Having apparently finished their patrol, the trio is about to head inside the office building. Ravenna swoops down, landing on the ground behind the thugs. She is careful to stay out of their limited line of vision. Even if they did see her, maybe they would not pay her any mind. Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing. Raye is able to remain out of sight and out of mind, until it is time for her to make her move.

Ravenna will find before her a multitude of options for getting into the Yokai base given her small statute, but some more viable then others. If she sticks close behind the trio of thugs she may be able to slip through the front door, but there's a fourth thug standing guard that she can see is eyeing the bird oddly behind his mask. It looks as though he'll attempt to shoo her away if she tries to get in that way. However, if Ravenna circles the building she might find one of the wooden boards over a window on the second floor has been busted up a bit. Leaving a hole just big enough the black feathery not-a-thief can likely wiggle her way through it. A viable entrance of course, but not the best exit since the book would not be able to fit back out even if she could carry it in bird form. She'll need to find an alternative exit if she takes this route.
A third entrance though would be from the roof. There's an old door up there locked with a rusty chain and basic padlock that it's clear the Yokai don't think anyone will use since they'd have to scale the building without being noticed. Ravenna would need to pick the lock and be careful opening the door so as to not alert anyone, but it could serve as a useful entrance and exit so long as the girl has a way to rappel down the side or take flight with her re-stolen prize. Otherwise like the prior entrances she'll have to find an alternative route to escape.

Ravenna has a few options for how she can attempt to enter the base. She could try going through the front door, but one of the guards notices her, and will probably shoo her away. Unless she distracts the guards, she's probably not going to get in. However, if she does look for another way in, she would lose track of the trio, and there might be other difficulties locating the room where the thief has been reading Cas' book.
Given the state of the office building, she could slip in through a crack in the window, but then she would have to find a way out. Ravenna casually waddles further away from the entrance, then takes off into the air, scoping the building. She flies up and checks the rooftop for an entrance. There's a door with a chain and padlock keeping it locked tight. This might be her best option, as if she can make it back to the top after retrieving the book, she will be able to flee with the book in hand, or maybe in beak.
Psycrowmon lands on the rooftop next to the door, and reverts back to her Human self. After taking a moment to stretch her shoulders, having gotten a little sore from flying, Ravenna reaches into a pocket on the inside of her jacket and takes out a small black bag containing some basic lock picking tools. She unzips the bag and rifles through, taking out a hairpin and a small slim screwdriver. Ravenna sticks the hairpin in the lock, attempting to raise the pins up to the shear line in order to unlock it. When she can determine how far the pins must be raised, she fiddles with the hairpin, bending it so it will raise the pins to the correct spot. Using the screwdriver, she keeps the pins at the shear line while trying to determine the positioning of the rest of the pins. With any luck, Ravenna will get past this lock and continue on inside.

The lock is old and a little stiff, but comes undone with a bit of gentle prodding and a tiny bit of concussive maintenance. Leaving the older rusty chains to fall away from the handle and Ravenna will need to be quick to catch them before they hit the roof with a clatter. Should she nab them before they hit the ground though they won't make too much noise and the door itself only takes some gentle leveraging to get it to open without too much creaking. Should she make it through Ravenna would find herself on some rather narrow rickety metal and concrete stairs that seem to lead down four floors with a door for each landing. There doesn't appear to be much in the way of hiding places here, but the patrols in the building don't seem much bothered to mess with the old staircase and she can quickly determine why since it's been sheered off two floors from the bottom preventing anyone from the ground floor using it to ascend. This of course doesn't stop anyone from descending though.
If Ravenna keeps her head low and listens at the various landing doors she can hear the patrols pass and maybe pick up on some of their gossip. Otherwise it's likely she'll have to check each of the six floors for the Thief's room.

After some quick handy work, Ravenna has unlocked the padlock. She grabs hold of the chain before it can fall, and takes it off of the handle, setting the chain down gently. Ravenna puts her locksmith tools back in her pocket, carefully positioning them so they won't rattle around in her pocket making lots of noise. She opens the door cautiously, inching it open and peeking in to see if the coast is clear. She steps inside, closing the door behind her. Ravenna finds herself in a stairwell, one that cannot be accessed from the ground floor. There are a few different floors she can check, but she doesn't know which floor she needs to go to.
Ravenna treads lightly down the metal staircase, careful not to make any unnecessary noise. She decides to check the first floor from the top, leaning up against the exit and trying to listen in. She can hear the sound of patrols walking by on different floors, but nothing that will lead her to the book. She waits a little longer, listening for footsteps. If the coast is clear, she will carry on exploring the top floor. If not, she will listen in and see if she can learn anything of use in locating this thief.
