Just Because You're Paranoid [Mission] [3/3]

Night Two, and god was it going to get old quick. Basile thought to himself as he flicked through the monitors again, finding more entertainment and usefulness for himself controlling the screens. His face morphed into a frown as he spotted the Ultimate level digimon on the monitors... That couldn't possibly be the thief, there was nothing an ultimate level digimon could want in here... but why on earth would he be knocking on the store's door at night otherwise. Something didn't add up and Basile's mind was going a mile-a-minute trying to figure this out but getting nothing.
He sighed and waited for his Partner and presumably Cloak & Dagger to interact with the Ultimate, if they chose too. He'd lost track of Cloak and Dagger relatively early on in the night due to his own paranoia and his need to check as many screens as possible as often as possible, most times gathering only the barebones information with a glance that lasted about a second or two before switching. There was only so much he could really hypothesise on with no data.
As he kept checking the monitors he made sure to quickly check back on the Ultimate level digimon every time he switched to a different area. This could be a distraction if the thieves knew the shop had protectors... it could in theory be a gang leader he supposed, an ultimate lording over Rookies was a pretty effective way of ensuring he didn't get stabbed in the back or mutinied upon.
Cinder was enjoying staying up all night, it made her feel like a secret agent from those dumb spy movies. She had taken to hiding behind the counter again tonight, choosing to focus on her surroundings and attempting to ignore disturbances from her allies. She didn't see much... until she saw the Digimon that radiated power just casually walking up to the store and knocking on its door. She Froze. Common sense screamed at her that this wasn't the culprit, but her insidious mind told her it was a possibility.
She stayed hidden, refusing to answer the door. If he was from the sheriffs department as he claimed, then he'd simply leave and return later as was his duty. If he was the thief he would take the lack of answer as his chance to raid the store and find it's defenders ready to ambush him no doubt.

Sangloupmon stayed on the roof, once more, taking in his surroundings and spending his time trying to track down local living digimon, whether they be small viruses in the trash, avian digimon in the air, or the massive metal being just outside. Hang on a minute, there. Sangloupmon moved for the first time that night, as the sound of the ultimate's metal mitts knocked against the door. Sangloupmon peered over the edge of the roof, for no other reason than to let the being identify him. He tilted his head, before speaking in his champion's rough, growly french accent. "Bon-nuit, monsieur. We are closed, zis night." He explained, lying back down as he stared at the approximate location of the no doubt large being.
"Everyone is sleeping now, except for security. That's me." He continued, in quite the conversational tone, as his ears panned around, trying to pick up any other noises in the area, curious if that little Chumon from before had gone, by now. "So what is ze problem?" He asked, resting his chin on the edge of the roof, curious what a big lug like that guy wanted with a dingy shop like this. Maybe he was some extra security cause that one guy was even more paranoid than before? Unlikely and unnecessary, but people make weird decisions that doesn't add up for DracNos's head. Thinking about that sort of thing was a nuisance, but it was also some entertainment in this quiet night, so he'll take it.

"I'll get it." Cas quipped with a yawn leaving Basile to monitor the camera's as she made her way upstairs. The BishopChessmon would likely see a Kotemon and a Zubamon peaking their heads over he counter eyeing him skeptically before their Tamer came up the stairs. Decked out in her white Doctor's coat and black clothes Cassandra was quick to open the door and offer the Ultimate a charming smile.
"Good evening. Is there something I can help you with sir?" The Doctor inquired alongside Dracnos albeit she likely made a far less shady looking conversationalist. Afterall there wasn't much about the pretty and tiny blonde haired blue eyed Doctor that really screamed dangerous and she was all too used to dealing with the authorities from her work. Behind her Cloak and Dagger edged out into the open looking wary, but non-combative.
"Ah, how rude of me. I'm Doctor Cross one of the associates hired to look after the store. I take it you are the Sheriff?" Cas asked with a tilt of her head a disarming smile.

The BishopChessmon's stern face did not seem to waver even towards the large vampiric wolf's presence, nor did he return the smile towards the doctor... only offering a slight nod. "I see... rumor had got around that the owner of this store had acquired security over the loss of store merchandise..." the puppet Digimon deadpanly spoke, briefly tapping the ground with his staff in response to Cassandra's own question.
"You can actually. Yesterday, hace you noticed any unusual sightings?" he proceeded to ask, coughing briefly. "Earlier today there was a series of break-ins into local homes reported to have happened the night before. While Rustport security is fairly relaxed compared to other cities, it is unusual to see so many robberies go unnoticed until around the morning." he spoke, briefly gritting his teeth and shaking his head.
He took his job quite seriously frankly when it came to protecting Rustport, so it was irritating to see a string of crimes occur so rapidly. He had a few theories, but he needed information first.

Basile continued his erratic camera checks, flicking between the Ultimate and the other cameras, focusing more on the other side of the building now that 3 of the 4 digimon were now interacting with the Ultimate. His constant checking was more out of safety than anything else, He was suspicious naturally and so the chances of the Ultimate being the leader wasn't out of the realm of possibility. It'd be pretty difficult for someone to betray an ultimate as a rookie/champion. Seeing as their were four of the champion level Defenders, an ultimate as the leader may not be quite so ludicrous...
As he flickered back and forth, he noticed that Ultimate level was simply chatting with the group, calming slightly he started focusing a little more on the other sides of the building, spending up to half a minute per camera before switching back to the Ultimate. He supposed that it wasn't completely out of the realm of possibility that the Ultimate was actually from the Sheriff's department... He knew too little about Rustport to be able to make a judgement here, and that put him on edge. It was in his mind, now a '50-50' on whether or not this Digimon was a legitimate Sheriff or not. He hated 50-50's.
Since the game was already given away, Cinder decided to pop her head up over the counter and get a good long look at their visitor. an Ultimate level by the sheer power radiating off of him and fairly comfortable in himself if his pokerface was anything to go by. His no-nonsense attitude seemed to fit in with his claim of being a Sheriff, She hadn't been here yet so couldn't claim otherwise. Which was a damn shame, because it meant the group had to take this ultimate's word. She sighed in frustration but supposed that his sheer power meant that anything on offer in the store was so far beneath the Ultimate that it his claim was probably true.
Something worrying was how quick the others broke any attempt at hiding and rushed out to meet the ultimate level digimon. That could be taken poorly, as an ambush or a sign of intimidation. A fight with the 'Sheriffs department' wasn't exactly a good idea. She may have very little respect for authority but that was a far cry from becoming a criminal with a bounty and being hunted. This entire situation blows.

DracNos felt no concern with this sheriff type, long as he didn't push his luck, things should turn out without violence. Though a little scuffle would be welcome, it wouldn't really lead to anything. For now, though, they asked a question, no need to keep them in suspense, "I smelled some strangers passing by zis street, zey were smelling of metal and surrounded by ze crackling and clicking noises." He described his memories of last night, the unique scents and noises of the strangers stuck clearly in his memory, at the moment, he then recalled something unique. "Zey stopped in front of ze building and I heard anozer click, zey did ze same with ozer buildings as zey kept moving." He explained, quite casually.
And... that was really it for Sangloupmon's report, as he was more useful for finding people than describing what culprits looked like, due to his blind nature. He figured he had no other useful information so he decided to turn and start strolling away, back to the center of the roof, fully intending to resume his lying down position and wait for more information to present itself, naturally. He figured the others must have seen the creatures he described, so they should know the specifics.

BishopChessmon's expression seemed to grow irritated at the Sangloupmon's report, their cold eyes staring down at the vampiric wolf, noticing the sun Digimon inside's presence; though their irritation seemed to only be directed to the words rather than the messenger. This was proving to be a bit of a debacle in regards to piecing out the situation on his end, but it did confirm his suspicions that something or someone suspicious was lurking around this town.
"How concerning..." the puppet Digimon murmurred, scowling slightly. The description while was vague, it was enough for BishopChessmon to perhaps get a lead going. It was not much, but it was enough for him to perhaps get an idea of what to look for. Regardless, he would give the Sangloupmon a slight nod before giving a deep sigh. "Well, in such a case... For the future safety of this town, I ask that if you see these same individuals to immediately confront and investigate them. I will not tolerate hard-working Digimon losing their precious belongings to villainous thieves with no respect for the lives of others." the Ultimate level solemnly spoke, coughing slightly before soon enough walking away from the scene entirely, leaving the store to you all once more.
Nothing else of note would occur for the remainder of the night, nor did the following morning offer much else of note; a bit of respite for everyone to regain their energy. With two nights down, the third one was soon underway...
While outside, nothing of note could be noticed... Everyone inside may notice the lights and power to the store flicker slightly... the first actual case of machinery malfunction so far. Perhaps was best to get it up running again, less they risked the power going out... which could be a hazard to the store's safety.
((OOC: Sorry for taking so long. Skipping Keen this time))

Basile while fairly confident in his own DIY skills, had no desire to go rooting for the source of the problem, just because Pekomon had allowed them into the store and was trusting them to defend it didn't mean that he'd be happy for someone to go ahead and messing with the store. He did however make sure he mentioned the power flickering now and again, it might be nothing but it was likely that it was something, judging by the computer and needing a refrigerator to keep it functioning.
As Basile's eyes began to sting from being open all night and the morning light doing him no favours, He proceeded about his usual ritual by now. Using the bathroom, making and eating cup ramen and napping in a sleeping bag for most of the work day. Basile was unsure of what to think about the job thus far, It seemed to be going well. But the Ultimate's appearance last night had him on edge, Sheriff or not, why would he knock on a presumably empty store? it didn't make sense unless it already knew that the group was there and had no issue with showing off it's appearance to the group inside, Arrogance or was it telling the truth?
Basile sighed, He was many things but a detective wasn't one of them as he started eating his rather mediocre meal. He wasn't happy about the situation but he also couldn't much about the situation he was in. They effectively had to hope that the ultimate wasn't the guy the group had to stop. The Sort of firepower they had to bring to bear to stop an ultimate would destroy the store without a doubt. What a Damn Mess.
[OOC - Sorry for the delay, Work's been giving me a pretty big run around]

Well, it looked like the big guy was finished with ranting, and was finally leaving them alone. Guys like that could talk for hours about justice and stuff like that, we get it! Thankfully, it seemed not much else would happen, leaving DracNos to distract himself with the meaningless entertainment provided by... well, anything and everything in the local area. Flowing water, wind rustling hanging articles around the nearby buildings, the sounds of the passersby all contributed to Drac's entertainment, mainly just by envisioning the shapes of all of the objects he can hear. He smelled something cooking, and he realized he hadn't actually eaten anything during their stay, it's not like his body would tell him he was hungry.
Sangloupmon slipped into the shadows and slipped into the shop, emerging right behind of Basile, sniffing the easy-cooked ramen, he then stood, and started sniffing around, trying to find some food he could snack on, for his health, something he often forgot to consider, due to distractions. Unfortunately, the plastic wrapping on most of the products interfered with even his unnaturally talented nose. Despite his paws being covered in crescent blades, his movements were silent as ever, as he probed through the small shop, attempting to find some nutrition, some meat or whatever would do, as long as it was made of data he could assimilate it into his digicore through his vampiric capabilities.

"Understandable. Of course we'll notify you if we see anything else suspicious." The Doctor murmured giving the BishopChessmon and affable smile as he departed before she returned to her post. She would trade out with Basile throughout the night as the twins kept their post hidden behind the counter. Thankfully it was quiet thus far. At least till the power started flickering.
"Do you know much about machines?" Cassandra inquired of Basile with a tilt of her head a worried frown pulling at the edge of her lips. "I know the basics myself, but am not confident in handling possible live wires. I know our third party member is keeping an eye on the roof so we should be good to work on the power store without too much worry." The Doc added the twins behind their hiding spot glancing up warily at the flickering lights their bodies tensing unsure if this was normal or something more sinister until Cas got back to them.
