Leaving Whitewater city, Chie wondered exactly what ingredients Do was leading her too. Being a chef, the prospect of new ingredients was a venture worth trying, or so she thought twenty minutes prior. The heat of the jungle was intense as she was sweaty, her blouse had already been sweated through, her breathing was heavy as she wiped sweat off her forehead, looking up towards the trees. Her eyes were searching for the fruit Do spoke off, only to find not a trace. Leaning against a tree for a second, she called out to her Digimon. “Do! I need to rest for a moment.” Do, stopped in his tracks, he too was sweaty, but no where near in as bad a shape as Chie. He too wanted to stop for a moment.
He turned around to face Chie, figuring bett she stayed put for a moment. “Yeah, better you stay still for a minute. I wanna check something.” Do, dug his claws into a tree one by one as he slowly climbed the three. He climbed to one of the upper branches as he slowly made his way to the edge, trying to get a bird’s eye view of what can be seen. Do couldn’t see anything, but he started to smell something in the distance, honing his nose, he fixated on that scent. Chie meanwhile, was catching her breath and taking a drink of water. She wondered what sort of fruit would grow in this environment. However she looked up to see her digimon partner, she could see his focus, by the movement of his facial muscles she figured he had something on what she guessed to be his scent of smell. She was about to call out to him but she saw him start to jump from tree to tree, by jumping across branches. Quickly she followed him, but almost lost him for a brief moment as she looked down to notice she stepped on what appeared to be fruit core remains, but she quickly returned to following Do.
Do eventually jumped down from the trees back to the ground, missing grace on the landing as he stormed forward to a larger fruit tree with a huge dent in its trunk. By the roots were fruit cores, seeds, and fruit juices soiled the ground around. Bits of fruit were all that's left hanging from the tree. Any neighboring fruit bearing trees suffered the same fate, bushes were ravaged. In some areas, it had seemed bombs exploded. Do’s eyes were almost brought to tears as he picked up the remains of a piece of fruit. His claws trembling. “Why? the digital world is a big place, filled with wonders…. What gives someone the right to ruin the beauty of it for everyone!” His expression slowly changed as his trembling slowed, Chie could tell he was not calming down, his trembling was now symbolizing something worse. “Simple greed I understand. But wrecking the environment, potentially ruining it for others, that's low. I can't condone this.” Chie looked closely at the nearest crater, and started to see what Do was angry about. The crater had spikes, a digimon’s weapon had done that.
Chie looked at Do, she at last gotten to see this side of him. She saw how caring he was, she started to believe he was not as dense as given credit for. She sympathized with her partner, she agreed whatever happened here was gone too far. However, while Do was stuck focused on his anger, Chie heard the sound of whimpering, steadily she walked through the wreckage to find a pile of bush pieces in a pile. Curious, Chie bent down to brush them to the side only to find a little green digimon underneath inside a hole. It was a spherical body with oval feet, and a little grass patch on top. However Chie immediately noticed the bruises and look of utter terror on its face, tears pouring out as it tried to squirm but couldn't escape the confines of the hole it dug itself into. Chie was in utter shock of the cruelty this poor thing had been through, but understood she had no time to panic. Her first reaction was to soothe the digimon.
Her voice slow and gently reached the digimon. “It's okay. Don't worry, I'm not a fighter. I won't hurt you.” She slowly reached into her purse and pulled out a apple and held it in front of the digimon, offering it to him. He looked at the apple and then Chie and then back to the apple, and once more. “Fo, for me? Really?” Chie nodded and he swallowed the apple in a single bite. That concerned Chie as it seemed the whole area seemed to be ravaged, and all that's left was a beaten down and starving digimon in the jungle. She didn't like one bit of this. The starving digimon jumped onto her lap, letting everything out now that he finally felt like he wasn't in immediate danger. Chie rubbed his back gently, letting the Digimon let everything out. Eventually he slowed down to heavy breathing and slowly looked back up to Chie. “Thank you so much.” Chie smiled back, hoping the digimon had calmed down, Chie noticed Do slowly walk over, she gestured him to be silent, as she slowly consoled the Digimon on her lap. “Don’t worry about it, now, I’d hate to pressure you, but me and my partner here were wondering what happened here? Are you ready to talk about it?”
The Digimon looked to the DORUmon, and back to Chie, fear still in his eyes but he tried to get out the story. “My, my name is Pipimon, me and sev, sev, several others were forced to serve a Shamamon, an’ a commandramon. They trashed everything, and use- used us to collect and carry everything, if we didn’t comply, they, they.. They beaten us. If we ate anything, they beaten us, they made us watch every night as they ate. I accidentally swallowed a fallen piece of fruit earlier, they beaten me down…” Do, fumed as his anger was reaching a new height. Not only was food being ravaged, it was being brutally hoarded from the local digimon who in fact were threatened into transport and watch it’s consumption. Chie on the other hand, agreed that something had to be done, she given up on a rational explanation halfway through Pipimon’s story for what happened, there was no explanation except for what these two crude digimon did. Do walked around the area, sniffing for a trail. Chie tried to console the digimon to see if he could help further. “Thank you, you’ve been a great help. Can you tell us where we can find them?” The Pipimon immediately started shivering at the thought of getting near the duo that hurt him. He wanted to shutdown, Chie could tell this wouldn’t be easy. She figured better to go ask someone for help, but Do on the other hand already started following the scent trail. Chie gently placed Pipimon down “Don’t worry, you won’t need to worry about those two anymore.” Chie got back up and started chasing after Do.
When she caught up to him, she had to ask the obvious question on her mind, that she was certain she already knew the answer. “Do, when you find these guys, what are you gonna do? They could very well be on par or more powerful than you?” Do shrugged off what she was trying to get across to him, he had no time to consider that. He assumed that even if she sent an S.O.S beacon that the duo would relocate the entire operation. He was not going to let that happen, as long as he could draw breath. He dreaded the thought of backing down when others needed him. “I can’t back down from this Chie, you must realize I don’t have a choice. If I don’t stop this, it will go on for far too long.”
Chie couldn’t believe she was struggling to find a way to disagree with Do, she admired his concern, but thought his tenacity was incredibly misplaced. She followed him out of necessity as if she got lost and found trouble, better to have an injured Do, rather than nothing to defend her. The path the two followed led them to hear yelling in the distance as they saw a large tree. Chie and Do ducked down and slowly approached, but stopped from a distance so they could hear what was going on. From the bushes, they could see a crowd of seven fresh level digimon in front of an old, hollowed out tree where the described Digimon from earlier, Shamamon on the left, Commandramon on the right. In front of the two rookie digimon was a massive pile of fruit. Shamamon yelled to the fresh level digimon. “Heh, betcha want this?” while holding out a piece of fruit, waving it about as the seven growling stomachs could be heard clearly. Before he threw it upwards and it leaned his head upwards as it fell in his mouth, and instead of chewing with his mouth closed, he added insult to injury by talking and laughing as well. “Sorry, you can’t have any! Ha, ha, ha.” Do was struggling to remain patient while watching the whole ordeal. Chie looked at the situation, realizing that they only had fear control when they were all together, if one ran of, one of the rookies could get them. They were afraid if they got caught, however Chie had a plan that might work for a brief moment. She whispered into Do’s ear her scheme, “Do, listen up, I can’t say for your odds of surviving, but you will like this a hell of a lot better than doing nothing. You silently pace to the left side of the pile, and when I give the signal, you will rush towards Shamamon and Commadramon, keep them occupied and I will get the hostages away. The signal is two taps on my digivice.”
Do nodded, Chie watched the situation as he got into place. Commadramon was fiddling with his rifle while Shamamon continued to eat in front of the poor captives. When Do got ready, Chie waited for the right moment as Shamamon seemed to eat like clockwork. Chie timed it so when she tapped her digivice, it was at the moment so when Do would get close Shamamon would probably choke on the fruit he was eating out of surprise. As Do started running, he straightened himself to stand up as he charged at the scene. Commandramon and Shamamon were shocked to see someone approach, they always thought their scheme would go unnoticed, and in that shock of that Do cried out “Dash Metal!” right before shooting a series of iron balls at the Commandramon. As the iron balls connected, he struggled to align his weapon while his Shamamon companion started to choke on the fruit he was chewing. Do hated to admit it, but he was sorta glad that it was Chie who was with him today. Meanwhile, as Do approached the rookies, Chie approached the fresh. Walking in front, she was brief and to the point. “Quick! All of you, run!” Six of the seven Digimon ran away, Chie was shocked at one still left behind, a Punimon and the look in his eyes, was that of fury. “Why aren’t you running?” The Punimon responded “I refuse to leave and let someone else fight for my freedom, I wanna stay at the very least.” Chie shrugged, at the very least she can grab him and run.
Looking back to the scene, she saw something in the tree between the two that caught her eye, a red egg with a jagged horn coming from near the top of it. A strange symbol Chie could not identify was below the horn. She put that aside as it seemed unimportant for the moment. As Do was about to close in for a close strike on Commandramon, but Shamamon managed to spit out the fruit he was choking on, onto Do’s face, and quickly used his club to strike Do in the stomach with the top of the club. Do was knocked back, landing on his backside as the Punimon’s eyes opened wide, Chie crossed her arms, she knew Do too well. The Shamamon jumped, attempting to land the club right on his face and slam his knees into his torso. “How dare you ruin our business!”
Do, rolled over causing the Shamamon to miss his mark as the Shamamon slammed onto the ground. Do aimed for the Shamamon’s face as he let his feelings out as well. “How dare you selfishly harm the Cipher Jungle and its inhabitants! Metal shot!” Do started to launch iron balls at the Shamamon’s face, but he was interrupted midway as the Commandramon fired his M16 rifle at Do’s mouth keeping it shut as it clogged with metal balls. Punimon and Chie could barely watch. “That can’t be comfortable at all. Not only is a M16 keeping his mouth shut, he’s still trying to shoot iron balls.” The Punimon nodded, “Yeah, at least he’s not being clubbed at the same time.”
Hearing the conversation full well, Shamamon gladly took the idea. “Eh, thanks for the idea little runt. I might not beat you later.” As Shamamon slammed his club down, Chie fiddled with her digivice mounted on her wrist, trying to do, well, anything. “Come on, Do needs help, Digivolve god damn it! His honor is killing him!” The Punimon’s eyes opened wide as he got an idea. He looked to the egg then back to Do, twice over. “Lady! See that egg over there! That’s the Digimental of honor, those two have been trying to get it to work for a while, but I feel as though it’s meant for you, I can’t explain it. But you need to touch it. Everything will be clear after.” Chie, slightly skeptical, looked back to Do getting shot at and clubbed, seeing him in such pain was excruciating. Especially when he might be near his limit. Figuring she had nothing to lose, she made a run for the egg. However The Commandramon had stopped shooting to observe the motions as he quickly turned around. He reached for a grenade and pulled it out, his thumb right on the pin as he spoke very sternly. “Halt. I don’t like repeating myself. You’re gonna stay put else you’re gonna blow up.” Chie stopped immediately, stuck between a rock and a hard place as she was out of options. Sweat dripped down her face as she was trying to figure how she was gonna get out of this.
However, she had a way out from an unlikely source. The Punimon from earlier spoke up. “Miss, I really owe ya, you saved me and the other guys. You may not like this, but let me do this!” The punimon jumped in the forward as the annoyed Commandramon threw the grenade, “DCD grenade!” Chie’s heart skipped a beat for a second as Punimon opened his mouth and swallowed the grenade, in that moment, adrenaline and panic made Chie bolt as she heard the explosion behind her, Do had a full view of it. As the dust settled, Do saw nothing was left. He was sent back to the village of beginnings was a thought Do kept in his mind, it made nothing easier. Chie finally made it to the hollowed out Tree to the shock of both Shamamon and Commandramon, Chie managed to reach the Digimental. She tripped and fell, with her left fingertips reaching the digimental. The second she did, the symbol glowed orange as the Digivice on her wrist lighted up.
The Digimental in the course of a few seconds shot itself straight to Do has his body became encased in a white light white the Digimental encased itself in a red light. Do’s form stood up like it was floating as it lengthened and remolded while the Digimental broke into eight pieces, each forming the shape of armaments. As Do and the Digimental finished their formations, Do solidified, letting out a battle cry as Shamamon and Commandramon had a terrified looked in her eyes. Chie was surprised as Do changed his form once more. “Is that, the DORUgamon form?”
Do, shook his head as he smacked the club out of Shamamon’s hand. He started to back up, Commandramon also started to move not liking his odds. “This is armor digivolution, Fladramon! It’s an alternate evolution, not as strong as the real champion level, but way stronger than a Rookie. Now. As for you two, payback time!” Do smacked the Shamamon, knocking him down with one clawed arm as his claws almosted closed in another, a small fireball grew in it as it got to a size. Aiming his claw towards Commandramon, he released it, shooting it towards him. Commandramon tried to jump to the side, but it still hit him. He rushed towards Commandramon knocking him back with a punch. Bending down into the hollowed out tree, he picked up Chie bridal style much to her surprise. “Come on, let’s get you somewhere safe.” He jumped to the side as he punt her down in a bush, hidden from view hoping she would be safer there.
Turning around, he saw Shamamon try to make a run for it. Placing his right claw close to his mouth, he spat out an iron ball, soaked in a notable stench, gasoline. He caught it in his claw as he aimed it towards Shamamon. “Like hell I’m letting you escape punishment! Burning Cannon!” Releasing his claws and with a burst of fire, the flaming iron ball shot towards the ogre digimon, hitting him in the back sending him flying into tree two meters ahead of him. Do charged after him as he loosened his claws, sounds of snapped bones could be heard as he charged towards Shamamon. His claws started to rotate at high speeds just as he shoved them right into Shamamon’s back. In a few moments of painful screams, Chie wanted to feel at least some sympathy, but couldn’t feel bad for someone so cruel. Do stopped as he stopped hearing screams, knowing full well what was going on as the Rookie digimon’s body was being disintegrated.
Do’s eyes were evil as he slowly turned to face Commandramon as he stood up. He could clearly see the fear in the Rookie’s eyes. He couldn’t even move after seeing what monster his deeds have brought him “You’re next.” With those words echoing the Commandramon’s mind,Do ran over to the Commandramon, as he spit on his claws before the light on fire. “Claws of hell!” His claws sparked on fire as he brutally struck the Commandramon repeatedly, the Commandramon grabbed a grenade, in response to which he waited till the pin was pulled, to which he grabbed Commandramon and threw him at a tree, falling to the ground, all he could see was the grenade right in front of his eyes as it blew up. Aiming his claws for one final attack as he moved the fire from his claws into a ball at the tips of his claws, he released it as a ball launched towards the Commandramon. “Repent both of you! Flame shot!” Do shot the fireball right at Commandramon’s head, finishing him off. As his body disintegrated into code.
He solemnly walked over to the first grenade site, where the Punimon was killed. He looked down at the ground, looking at the burn marks of where the digimon exploded. His eyes solemnly fixated on it as Chie stood up out from the bushes, looking at her digimon mourn over the loss of a digimon he barely knew. It somehow, warmed up to her to know that there was such a deepness to her digimon. “Punimon… I know he’s not dead, but to see him sacrifice himself even after being bullied into slavery, he mustered the strength he had, and gave me a chance. Days like this never escape me. There’s nothing more noble in this world, nothing as close to heroic, nothing as truly admirable as genuine self sacrifice. If he ever crossed my path again, I will die for him as he did for me.”
Chie couldn’t help but admire Do’s character, it was a bit different but she attributed some of it to the digimental. As he started to walk towards Chie, he decided the fate of the food pile. “Leave the food pile, the freed digimon will probably come back, let them have it.” Chie admired Do’s nature, it was almost like he gained chivalry over the course of a single evolution. Following him in the distance, she waited for the evolution to run its course, but grateful she got to see a different side of who she thought was a thoughtless idiot,
