Chie wondered where her Digimon was leading her as she checked the map on her Digivice. They had returned to the Server woods, Chie never been to the Village of beginnings, but she guessed they took a wrong turn. Chie started to believe Do really needed to start cartography. She looked around and could barely determine anything unique from the other side. Chie stopped for a minute as she had to ask at this point. "How often have you been to the village of beginnings?"The DORUmon answered briefly. "Twice. Creation, and rebirth." Chie changed the topic as she did not want to pry any further. Going to the village that way couldn't be pleasant in her eyes. Chie figured better to leave that windmill alone. She still followed Do through the woods as she could tell this was a test of patience. She closed her eyes for a second but she heard a large snap before a rumble, and the scream of Do, and a large thud sound. "Ye-OUCH!"Chie opened her eyes only to see a giant hole, two feet ahead of her where her Digimon was. She stepped forward slightly to see a seven foot hole with leafs, broken sticks, and Do fallen face first at the bottom. Chie was surprised to see such an elaborate trap around here. Also that an expert tracker would fall for it. "Do? You okay down there?" Do extended his claw and gave a thumbs up before rolling onto his side. Chie sighed as she decided to give her digimon a minute to collect himself. Taking a few steps to the right, she leaned against a tree before she heard something snap and her eyes opened wide. "Ah crap." from under a pile of leaves, a net sprung up an caught her in it as it hanged by a tree while she yelped. Her instincts wanted to call for help, but she couldn't help but point out the redundancies. "Who placed a freaking snare trap next to a pitfall trap! This is redundant! Also Do, wake up!"Chie tried to move her arms to reach her digivice, hoping an armored digivolution would wake him up. But the snare was too tight as she couldn't uncross her arms. She sighed as her digimon was out cold and she was stuck in a snare above the ground. Quill

Quill the Hawkmon was out and about wandering the perimeter of his tiny village in the woods. Apparently the resident troublemakers, Falcomon and Hyokomon, were out setting traps again to catch any unsuspecting travelers. They weren't planning on doing anything nefarious with whatever they caught, they just liked to play pranks from time to time. The problem was that once they had successfully caught someone, they would run off before letting them go to avoid getting caught, which was a very un-gentlemanly thing to do. Quill shook his head at this. Sometimes it felt like he was the only Rookie in the village who was actually mature.
After some time, Quill came upon exactly what he was looking for. It seemed a young human girl had found herself ensnared in a net, hanging from a tree. Quill didn't see Hyokomon or Falcomon nearby and sighed. "Those two really ought to be taught a lesson in chivalry." Wasting no more time, he flew into the air and threw his feather at the rope tying the girl up. As the rope was cut and she fell, he would swoop in and catch her in his wings, making sure she at least didn't fall and hurt herself! "Are you unharmed, madam?" he asked, tilting himself so she could stand up on her feet.

As the net was cut, Chie only imagined the end result ending in a trip to the hospital. However a chubby Indian eagle was the last thing she expected to save her as she fell. Taking a few seconds to catch her bearings as she slowly stood up to get a better look at her savior. "Oh, yeah... I'm fine. Just wasn't expecting saving with all these redundancies around. Have you seen a DORUmon around here?"
Chie's eyes drifted around the area, looking for any signs of traps until she recalled the seven foot hole. Calling out to her digimon, still apparently down there. Recalling Do is semi-conscious, she pulled out a caramel coated apple from her purse. She dropped it to sit on the ledge of the hole as Do could smell the treat as she given him a moment to get up, turning back to the digimon that saved her while brushing a frew leaves out of her hair. "Excuse my rudeness, just you know the risks of the world. Thanks for getting me out of that jam, I'm Chie, my digimon stuck in the pit is Do."
Smelling the treat, Do slowly got up to see the caramel apple on the ledge as his mouth started drooling. He slowly got up as he became determined to eat the treat. Digging his claws in one at a time into the dirt, he climbed back up the hole. After he got his head over the hole, he prepared to take the apple in a single bite. "Finally mine!" With his head, he swung at the apple, biting into it as he slid halfway down the hole again. His muffled voice "Totally worth it!"could be heard as Chie closed her eyes and sighed into her left hand.

Quill was relieved to see that the young girl was unharmed. She seemed more concerned about whoever had fallen in the pit. She pulled out a treat from her purse, and before he even knew what was going on a Dorumon popped out from the ground to take the apple and slide back down.
Feeling that the situation had been somewhat resolved, Quill gave the girl his most gentlemanly bow. "Delighted to meet you, Chie and Do. My name is Quill. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
Finally standing back upright, Quill felt the need to explain the situation. "We've had some troublemakers from our village going around the forest and laying traps," he told the girl. "They're mostly harmless pranks, but I do wish they would be more respectful."

Chie looked back to the hole, annoyed that Do was such an embarrassment, but in front of a gentlemen drew the last straw. Chie pressed a button on her digivice as a red, glowing, oval orb with a jagged horn at the top emerged from the screen; it quickly floated into thole while expanding back to it's normal size. In a matter of seconds, a white light flashed from the hole.
"That takes care of that problem."
In a matter of seconds, a figure larger than the one that fell in the hole jumped a great deal out of it, a Fladramon landing on his left foot and right knee before standing up. He looked at Quill with a sharp glare as he crossed his arms. "Harmless prank huh? If Chie or a digimon lower than Rookie were in there, it would've been worse. At least the snare trap allowed her to walk away with a sprain."
His eyes checked Chie up and down quickly, looking for injuries and hoping to god she wasn't caught in a secondary trap. A redundant thought but so was the distance between the snare and the pitfall. Chie turned her head away as she couldn't help but admit that Do was more appealing as a Fladramon. She found it awkward as she felt his claws on her back, the cold metal sent a shiver down her spine she turned around to see Do holding a pinecone.
"It was stuck in your hair."
Wanting the quickly change the subject before blood rushed to her face, she turned back to Quill. "So, you said there's a bad ruffian problem?"

In a flash, the Dorumon that had been in the hole previously had suddenly become a light purple Flamedramon who jumped straight out of the pitfall. Quill was a little off-put by his sudden change in attitude, going from (admittedly) a bit of a goofball to what almost appeared to be an overprotective...boyfriend? Quill wasn't entirely sure.
That's not what Quill was focused on, though. What interested him way more than the sudden change in personality was the sudden change in form. It didn't seem like a normal Digivolution. That strange orb that had appeared from Chie's Digivice seemed to have something to do with it. "How did you do that?" he asked insistently. Normally he would have answered Chie's inquiry first, but this was important! If he could achieve this strange transformation, then he could finally set to work on his goal!

Chie was extremely grateful that Quill changed the subject as she wanted a distraction from the line of thought. She didn't want Do to remember any ideas outside of Fladramon, as Fladramon Do was more mature and refined, but in his base form, he needed a smacking. "Oh, this, it's a special alternative to Digivolution, called Armor digivolution."
Do looked around, he kept his eyes focused on the prospect of redundant traps or tricksters jumping out. Chie elbow jabbed the Fladramon before he looked her in the eyes, annoyed."What?" Chie rolled her eyes, she thought that Do would catch on by now but to her, it appears he was way too concerned about her well being. "What do you mean 'what?', Quill wants to know about Armor digivolution and you've been in this world longer than I have!" Do was not patient to respond as he believed she was being way too careless with her own safety. He believed he had to ensure she wouldn't get caught in a redundant trap. "Well, someone has to look out for your safety! I take my eyes off you for a minute and you get caught up in a snare!"
Chie looked at Do with a long stare until he caved in, realizing he was not going to win this fight. Do stepped forward, looking sharply at the Hawkmon, trying to size him up. He couldn't find a reason to not trust him, but he found it convenient he somehow showed up when Chie got snared. "Armor Digivolution relies on a mystic artifact called a 'Digimental'. By borrowing the power from the object, a digimon can reach a state of Pseudo rank, not exactly the rank bellow but noticeably weaker than the next one. In this case, Armor champion is less powerful then Champion, but much more powerful than Rookie. Any questions?"

This was the first time that Quill had seen a Tamer with a Digimon partner before. He wasn't sure how these kinds of relationships worked, but he noticed some strange...tension between the two. He decided not to pay it any mind, though. These kinds of things weren't any of his business, anyway.
Do (seemingly reluctantly) gave Quill and explanation on Armor Digivolution. Quill listened intently and hung onto every word. This was a new concept for him, surprisingly. "I see. That would be very convenient! I'll make a note to check that out later."
That said, the Hawkmon moved onto the problem at hand. "As for these traps...I wouldn't exactly call them ruffians. They just some children from my nearby village that like to play jokes. They're just trying to have some fun, but we don't usually have humans come through here." He gave the two of them another bow. "I'd like to apologize on their behalf."

Harmless pranks from children? Do almost had a hard time believing that a child dug a five foot wide, seven foot deep hole and went to great lengths to make it believable. He wouldn't take any crap as the woods were already a danger, and an apology wasn't enough. "Harmless prank! If Chie fell through that hole I'd be running to the Digi-core right about now scared out of my god damn mind trying to get to the hospital! Humans and small Digimon are fragile creatures."
Do was having issues accepting an apology from Quill, angry that Quill apologized for the children, to him, that was almost the same as condoning it. "Honestly, sounds to me like those kids just need a bit of discipline. Going around making pits the size of graves is unacceptable even in this world."
Chie finally had enough as she stepped between Do and Quill. "Enough! Do, get your head out of your heart. You're right, what they did was unacceptable by any right. I didn't get hurt, it's fine."
Do looked back to her concerned for her very well being considering her history. He was afraid of losing another partner so soon, and compared to the last guy, Chie was a delicate flower. "If you don't recall, you fell off a bridge almost two weeks ago. I can't lose you this quick, I was alone thinking I was meant to drift. I couldn't find him, but you-"
Do turned around as he cut himself off mid sentence. Chie's eyes were stuck on Do, as a Fladramon, he seemed to be more, honest. However as a Fladramon, she couldn't help but wonder why when he compares her to him,it's different then as a DORUmon. Chie turned back to Quill, hoping to defuse the situation before it began. "Sorry bout him, he's, just, worried. But he does have a point, at some point a joke is not funny."

Quill was a tad nervous. Typically his chivalrous tactics worked on people, but Do was being quite irrational. It seemed he had been burned in the past. However, Quill was certain that he could not allow this guy to "discipline" Hyokomon and Falcomon. Someone this angry probably didn't have very good disciplinary practices. "I promise you, I will scold those responsible," Quill assured them. "Please understand, they're still children."
Quill was hoping this didn't turn into actual confrontation. He had been training to get stronger ever since he had evolved to Rookie, but this Digimon was at a higher form than he was. The rules of Digimon levels were pretty cut and dry. Still, if it came to that...he couldn't stand down. Attacking children, even pranksters like Hyokomon and Falcomon, was highly ungentlemanly.

Chie could tell that it was not Do's temper flaring, but fear. The gruesome image of finding her digivice played back in her mind, and she recalled what she thought. Do was alone for years, even though she was not who he wanted, she was someone to stick around. "Do, calm down, you're too wound up. Don't let your emotions get the best of you. You don't want to hurt this guy."
Do let out a deep breath as he knew she was right, to let his annoyance get the better of him would break his code if he got violent with someone who didn't deserve it."You're right, Quill, I apologize. You don't know how terrible the downsides of a human partner." ' Chie took slight offense to that, as he almost implied she was a handicap to him. Looking him in the eyes, she asked what was on her mind. "Implying that the woman who literally gave you power is a weakness?"
Do didn't bother to answer that as he focused back on the matter at hand, the village Quill spoken of. "So, you say there's a village nearby? Didn't think anyone would establish a village that can easily be lost."
However what bothered him more was that in all the time he spent in the server woods, he encountered many things, but yet he never found this so called village.

It seemed Chie was able to calm Do down. That was probably for the best. Quill didn't want to come to blows; after all, they seemed like nice people. Perhaps they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Do made a comment about the downsides of being partnered to a human. Quill had never been partnered before, so he didn't know for sure, but something about the whole thing didn't really appeal to him. He didn't want to hurt Chie's feelings, though, so he kept this thought to himself.
Chie brought up his village, and Quill got a bit nervous. "Yes, my village is around here. It's quite hidden, and the other members don't necessarily have the greatest opinion of humans. Maybe it'd be best for you to avoid being discovered by some of the others. There are some powerful residents there, after all. These forests in general are dangerous this far in."

Do rolled his eyes when Quill referenced that the people of the village didn't care for outsiders. Frankly, it bothered him that so many places have discriminatory polices. Having been with two human partners, he can fully testify that not all humans are wrong and bad. "Sounds like your village in general needs a bit of understanding."
Chie herself was wondering what was on Do's mind as he seemed to be on a completely different trail of thought. While she herself knew first hand that there were digimon opposed to humans, they had every right. Humans have no place in this world as they live in a different world, different rules. "Do, you know you shouldn't be angry at that. Humans are not native here, we don't belong. They have every right to hate us."
Do was not taking any crap on the matter, especially not from a human. He didn't care who came to who's world, it was not right to treat the other wrongly. "Look, don't be like that. Nobody can judge the other. If we entered your world we'd still cause a fuss. No one of you chose to be involved in our world, that's something that only Yggdrasil can choose or at least figure out why you're here. We need to get along regardless, besides look at you, you couldn't hurt a fresh digimon. You're smart, kind, a great cook, beautiful. While true some humans are utter trash, so are some digimon."
Chie didn't disagree with that sentiments, however she got caught up on Do's description of her, and wondering why he would include the last part. Was he, flirting with her? "What does beauty have to do with it? Do you perhaps want me to use my beauty to distract or pursuade digimon to not attack me?"
Do turned his head as he tried to hide his embarrassment. "Beauty, hmmpth, I made no such reference to the obviou-, I mean I made no such reference."
