After stopping for supplies at a nearby village, Iki and Agumaru were off to search for the spirit of the mighty Angemon. Iki was sadly still in his Falcomon form, as he is currently unable to figure out how to actually get back to his human form, so he just has to wait for his transformation to wear off. Which was taking quite a while to do...
The two of them eventually reached this strange temple, that happened to lead upstairs into an entrance The entire building was a greenish-gray color, made entirely of ruined bricks. The place looked abandoned for many years... "Why in the world is there a temple like this in the middle of a forest...? Doesn't matter; I can sense the spirit coming from inside. Come on, let's get going." Iki then begins to walk up the stairs up to the temple... which happened to be very, very long.

Agumaru sets off with his new 'friend' Iki. Before, they looked like Tamer and partner Digimon, but now that Iki was in Falcomon form, they just look like a couple of digimon hanging out. Poor Agumaru doesn't realize that Iki doesn't think of him as a friend, though if he knew, he'd just say that Iki doesn't think of him as a friend yet.
The D-Tector leads Iki to a temple, and Iki leads Agumaru to it. "This is the place," the tiny toy tyranno asks. "Certainly seems like a place for a spirit to be, anyways." He stares blankly at Iki when he asks why there's a temple in the middle of the forest. "Um... why would there not be a temple in the middle of a forest? Forests are kinda known for that." He then looks up the long stairs, then back to Falcomon. "Huh, not too bad of a walk. Though you could probably fly up there. Shouldn't take too long!"

"In the human world, jungles and deserts are usually the places to have temples, not forests... but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. And I don't think I can carry you up these stairs, so we're both going to have to walk."
After a long, long flight of stairs, the two finally made it to the top. Iki wasn't completely out of breath, but a walk like that could still make him tired. "That... took a while. Anyways, we're here," Iki says. He begins to walk towards the temple doors, which were way taller than the two of them, or even a Digimon as tall as Angemon. He then begins to push the door open, which then, of course, opens up to reveal a long hallway, lightened up by a long wall of torches. The inside of this temple looked old and ancient as well, with many ancient markings along the walls.
Iki turned around to Agumaru. "So? Shall we?"

"Forests, jungles, to a lesser extent woods," Agumaru explains, "in the Digital World, you are sure to find a temple, shrine, or ancient ruins. Maybe even a lost city, though that's...usually not in the woods. Deserts are the same way, though they are usually a bit sandier." He shrugs, which was pretty interesting for a Lego structure in the shape of a dinosaur to do.
He tilts his head in confusion at Iki saying he can't carry him. "Why would I have you carry me," he asks. "It isn't that long a walk up. I thought you'd fly on ahead." Regardless, he begins climbing.... and climbs... and climbs... and climbs some more... and eventually reaches the top. "That was fun, maybe I should walk down and do it agai- no. Serious time. Not a game. Right, sorry."
The entrance of the temple, once Iki opens the door, appears to be long and dark and ancient. Yep, this was a forest temple all right! "Watch out for loose stones, weirdly round holes in walls, or light shining in where it shouldn't! Other than that, we should be fine. Unless there's a temple guardian."

Iki was starting to regret bringing Agumaru along since he was nearly distracted by wanting to go up and down the stairs over and over again. Luckily, he managed to get himself on task, and so the hunt continued.
"That's... actually a smart idea," Iki says after Agumaru says to look for anything out of place. So, from that entrance, he surveyed the entire hallway. He noticed that there were multiple holes along the horizontal walls, meaning that those could be poison darts. Then he began looking at the ground and noticed that some stones were slightly darker than others.
"Hm..." Iki hums as he picks up a loose rock from the ground, and lightly tossed it onto one of the darker stones. As soon as it landed, multiple arrows started shooting out from the holes for a few seconds before stopping. "Okay, we need to walk slowly... do not step on any of the dark stones."

"It isn't smart," Agumaru replied about trap-searching, "it is common sense. Temple-searching 101: those who make or ask others to make temples tend to be a bit paranoid about people looting or trespassing." He chuckles softly and winks. "Not that we'd do anything like that, right?"
Sure enough, there were telltale signs of traps everywhere. The classic pressure plate dart trap seems to have been favored in the creation of this temple. He watches the arrows fly by as Iki purposefully triggered the trap. "At least it isn't a collapsing temple one, though those are probably farther in if there is one. No use destroying a temple when you can just stop them at the entrance!"
Agumaru takes Iki's advice and carefully hops and steps only on the lighter tiles. "Hm... what other traps we got here? At least we know we're probably in the right place for the Spirit!"

"I doubt there'll be any traps that take apart the entire temple..." Iki says. Iki, of course, nimbly leaps over any tile plate he saw, and luckily the two of them managed to reach the end without setting off any more of those poison darts. "Good job. Now we continue on."
The next section after the first hallway was a staircase that led downwards. The markings of binary code on the walls became more and more apparent as they descended into the lower level. When the stairs had finally ended, there was a hallway lit with more torches, and the hallway split in two directions, one to the left and one to the right.
However, there was something else that occupied that hallway that clearly did not belong in a temple in the middle of the forest: a vending machine. This vending machine looked very appealing, with loads of yummy candies, chocolates, and sodas to choose from, and it was just begging to be used.
"...I won't even question why there's a vending machine here," Iki says. "But now we need to decide which way we're supposed to go... my gut tells me that the path to the right is the correct way."

Agumaru shrugs at Iki. "You never know," he simply responds. He takes the compliment in stride. "You too, but probably going to get harder." He glances to the fired arrows, some shattered, some impaling the wall. "Hm. Wonder what the next traps are going to be like."
Perhaps they would find out soon enough. The stairs leading down seem ominous, leading them deeper into the heart of the tempe. For now, they seem to have found the temple's break room, complete with vending machine. "Well... I'm sure the ancient Digimon of the temple got hungry too. Buuut... it could be a trap - or a clue." He examines the contents to see if there were any candy bars whose wrappers had arrows on them pointing towards a direction. However, Iki had an instinct, and...
"...maybe the Spirit is guiding you. I will trust your gut, though still, keep an eye out for traps."

Iki had a bad feeling about that machine. When Agumaru went closer to it to inspect the various candies, Iki's feeling was confirmed when he saw movement in the dispenser portion of the machine.
"AGUMARU, LOOK OUT!"
He was too late. Suddenly, a swarm of DemiDevimons come out of the machine and start circling around Agumaru, trying to shoot at him with Demi Darts in the process.
"This was definitely a trap, and we fell for it! Ninja Blade!" Iki immediately yelled, throwing a bunch of shooting stars at the DemiDevimon, which caused them all to fall back a bit, giving Agumaru enough room to get out. There were far too many to fight alone; the pair had to get out of there. Iki immediately began running down the path to the left of the vending machine. "If you want to actually live, I suggest you follow me now!" He called out.

When the DemiDevimon surround Agumaru, he seems surprised and confused, but not alarmed. "Huh. Thought it was one of those traps where I'd have to hit the button. Guess I was wrong." He tries to block as many of the darts shot at him as possible, punching and biting at them. He then whirrs his arms around in a Million Punch Mach Jab while Falcomon bombards them with ninja stars. This creates an opening, and as soon as he sees it, he takes off through it. "Thanks Iki!"
The two run away down the hall, Agumaru putting in extra effort to make some distance between them and the swarm. If Iki glances back at Agumaru, he'll see that he was struck with a few Demi Darts, though he doesn't collapse unless they reach a safe area. If they do reach a safe place, however, he'll slowly faceplant into the temple floor.

God dammit, this is not going well at all! Iki thinks as he and Agumaru ran down the hall with a bunch of angry DemiDevimon chasing after them. Come on, think, gotta find a safe place... ah, there we go! Thankfully, the entryway at the end of the hall was nearing closer and closer. As soon as Iki and Agumaru passed it, Iki looked around for a door.
"Come on... come ooonnn..." Iki grunts as he attempts to shut the door. After a while of pushing, with those DemiDevimon coming closer and closer, Iki finally managed to close the door, just in time so that the DemiDevimons couldn't get in. "Phew... we're safe now..." Iki then hears a loud plopping sound. "...Agumaru?"
Iki turned around to see Agumaru unconscious, face flat on the ground. A bunch of those Demi Darts were in him, as well. "Well, that's a shame..." With Agumaru's usefulness now dried up, Iki just continued on his way, not looking back for even a second. "Now, where's that spirit...?"

Darkness swims around Agumaru, and he swims in it. The world spins and shudders with him. The pain... the agonizing pain... but soon, the world's spinning returns to normal, and his head begins to clear. "Ghrk... owwww... that sure was some trap, eh Iki?"
"...Iki?"
The silence was not reassuring, and neither was the sight he was greeted with when he opened his eyes. He slowly, shakily stands, pulling out the needles. "Where... where'd you go? Could it be... did... did you... get caught by them? I'll save you!" He rushes down the hall - or tries to. He is still a little bit weak and wobbly, though slowly recovering. "Iki! Iiiikiiii!"

Iki had nearly ditched the ToyAgumon that Iki used as bait, when suddenly he heard his name being called out. "Oh, so he's still useful after all," Iki said to himself before turning around. "I'm down here, Agumaru!"
When - or if - Agumaru came down to him, Iki then turned back around. "My apologies. I thought you had died... are you okay? We have to continue on. I think the spirit is near..." Iki says before continuing down this hallway.
The pair then continued down the hallways, the only light source being torches. As they walked, Iki began to feel his stomach rumble. "Do you have the supplies with you?"
Turned out they had dropped them when they were being chased by the DemiDevimon.
Eventually, the hallway led to a supposed dead end. However, there was a secret: the wall in front of them was fake, and if they hit a certain random tile switch, the wall would turn and reveal another room.

Agumaru finally gets a response from Iki. All it took was yelling loud enough to get the guy who left him behind as a decoy and thought his usefulness was over to hear him. Thank goodness it was that easy! He wobbles towards the sound of Iki's voice, fighting off the damage. "I've got to be more careful," he says to himself.
Finally, he meets up with Iki, who explains he thought Agumaru had died. "It will take more than my death to stop me," he jokes, "but if I died, I wouldn't have been there any more. Doesn't matter, we're back in business!"
Back in business... in a dead end. "Well, maybe we made a wrong turn after all? But your gut said..." He looks around for any tricks or traps. "Hm... maybe one of these walls is fake," he suggests. Could he figure out the tile button? Nope. "Maybe if I attack the walls, one of them would break and reveal the path!"

"Or there's possibly a certain switch..." Iki tells Agumaru. "Would be surprised if there wasn't, especially since this temple is complete insanity." Iki slowly approaches the wall and observes it carefully, wondering if anything was out of place.
Eventually, he did spot something. On the fake wall, there were two slightly different colored bricks. One brick would open the wall, letting the duo pass through and get the Spirit. The other, however, would open up the floor, leaving the two of them to fall and fall until eventually hitting spikes at the bottom, which would kill them instantly.
"Okay... we have a situation," Iki says. "There are two switches, as far as I can see. I doubt that they'll do the same thing... maybe your own gut can tell you which one to push?"
The switch on the left would be the one that would continue the heroes' journey. The switch on the right would lead to their near-instant deaths, unless they were lucky. Which one would Agumaru choose?
