A Bit of Warming Up [Open]

Spartan Training Ground. It was clear that day, a bit early in the morning too. Digimons that lived in this training ground already did their warm-up. While guests are of course welcome to train with the Digimons, the next image perhaps would be a bit rare for many.
A human joining the training session.
His age might be young but the child, wearing the training ground's training gear currently sparring with a Goblimon. While in real fight this might be a really dangerous situation considering the difference in strength and the fact that the child is unarmed, this is normal spar. The rule is simple. No one could use any named moves (this is already given for the human), no one can use any projectile attacks, no one can use any weapon. it's totally a barehanded combat. The two circled each other, obviously trying to find an opening.
The boy was calm. His breath even although he's pretty much drenched from sweats trying to follow the training regime of the Digimons. Stamina wise he have bigger stamina than kids of his age from farm works... but it still lose to Digimons who dedicated themselves to life of training. His green eyes however shows no sign of hating it the slightest. He has picked this choice of dual life being a chosen, a digimon-partnered human. He have several times caught in life or death situation. The scar on his unusually toned torso were the proof, especially the one on his chest. The nasty huge scar did not came from random Digimon's attack. It was from his own berserking partner. While nowadays they have 'dealt' with it in a way or another, there are no telling if there will come situations that again.
"...URAAA!!"
The Goblimon who seem to getting impatient suddenly lunged forward. The black haired boy knew that his stamina won't hold if he decided to grapple the small goblin Digimon like before. He quickly sidestepped and decided to trip it. The goblin, perhaps due to his own naivety after seeing the boy's previous attacking pattern, did not thought that the human would trip him. He tried to gain balance, but a strike to the back made him fall. The boy put him in a lock afterward.
"THAT'S ENOUGH! Winner: Tetsu!" a Dinohyumon declared
The black haired boy let out a sigh of relief. He quickly let go of the Goblimon and shook his hand. "T'was a good fight," was what the boy said, perhaps lower in volume than he thought due to how tired he was.
Shishidou Tetsushi, 11 years old. He's currently just training around here in hope to get a bit ready for a new journey somewhere to nearby new area. Lately, Digital World is expanding, and he seriously thinking to explore them. However, at the moment his partner isn't strong enough to fight against anything above Perfect stage. With that in mind, they're looking way to increase their power. Normally, there's no need for the human to also train, but Tetsu insisted. For about a week now they spent their time training in this training ground.
"...Welp, let's rest for now!" the boy decided. He slowly did a cooldown stretching. Here hoping to see if he could meet any new people. It's been long since he last came here...

Post by Nik & Brad on May 5, 2018 8:08:08 GMT
Niko Hinare and Brad the Bearmon had caught up with a lot these past few days since their meeting in the Village of Beginnings. The regret that Nik had in leaving Brad by himself for so long had soon melted away as he bonded with his highly affectionate partner. For one thing Brad loved hugs, and so did Nik, so there was plenty of those. Brad had learned to really enjoy those nights, cuddled up to a warm human, coming to recognize his scent, hear his heartbeat, it was all very delightful. And, he kind of felt whole again, after spending so much time feeling like something was missing.
Nik meanwhile simply adored Brad and gave him undivided attention when he was willing to share. He asked Brad about his life so far, what it was like in the digital world, who his other friends were, where he'd like to go, and Brad answered readily, that he'd like to go visit the Spartan Training Grounds to test his strength as a newly evolved Champion Level.
For the time being, Brad was still in his little Bearmon form, having de-digivolved on the Trailmon back to Terminus. And from there, after a nice period in the city where Nik absorbed the life of living in the digital world, they then took another Trailmon to the training grounds. And once they disembarked they could hear the sounds of a battle nearby.
"Hey, Nik..." Brad asked his partner hesitantly. "Can... I please ride you?". It was a little indulgence that Brad had come to rather like. Having a big human partner that could carry him, it felt really nice to do so. And furthermore it felt like a mutual favour. Brad could ride Nik as a Child level, and Nik could ride Brad as an Adult level.
"Heh, sure thing, bro" Nik said, easily lifting up the little Bearmon and letting him ride on his back. His grey and white fur made the back of his neck rather hot, but, he didn't mind. And so Nik walked over to the training grounds, seeing a Goblimon in battle with... was that a boy?! Nik could hardly believe it. At first he thought this was some kind of gladiatorial match between a human and a digimon, but, as the human promptly began to kick the Goblimon's butt and was declared winner by a referee, he relaxed.
"Wow, that normally happen eh, Brad?" Nik asked his partner.
"Well... it takes a fairly skilled human to be able to fight a Rookie level" Brad answered hesitantly. "But that's one of the strongest humans I've ever seen..." he then took a closer look, climbing down off Nik's back and recognized him. "Wait is that Tetsu?!" he asked. Yes! It was!
"Heeey! Tetsu! Hiya!" Brad called, waving. And undoubtedly if Tetsu was here, Gryz would be too. Nik was interested to see what would happen, it seemed that he had met one of Brad's old acquaintances.

At first he wondered if anyone would come here, but hearing his name called, that was completely beyond what he thought would happened. The black haired boy looked up and saw a man he have no idea before but on top of him... "Brad? Is that ya!? Heeey!!" the boy excitedly waved back. Gryz who heard the name of the senior Bearmon opened his eyes. ...Talk about really huge guy. This made him snicker though. Him and Tetsu pretty much the reverse of this guy and Brad. His human is small, and Brad's human is huge. He's bigger and taller than Bearmon normally while Brad's on the thinner side and smaller than him. The irony is quite strong. Gryz waved and approached the two.
"Hey, sup? Long time no see!" Tetsu excitedly chattered. "Here for training? And.... who's the big guy? Your friend?"
"Maybe his partner," Gryz commented. "Looks like you're happier nowadays, Brad. Glad to see that. Seem you got a lot to tell though. I mean, I thought you're an independent Digimon, but turned out not huh? Glad that you find your partner though!"
The now Virus type Bearmon still exhibit the friendliness and general calmness that he have back when he's still Vaccine type. If anything it's seem that he started to accept his condition which made him at peace.
"Hey big guy, do you play any sport? You're huge!" Tetsu suddenly quipped. "How long since you knew Brad?"
"Hey hey, calm down Tetsu. Heh, sorry about my lil bro's excitement. He just kinda... well, he felt rustic and meeting new people excites him. He kinda have to stop coming here a month ago because of thing called school exam. But now that he's back, we're thinking of exploring more of the digital world. New areas popping left and right and all... Come to think of it, want to join us for lunch you two? I'm about to cook actually."

Brad was delighted when Tetsu recognized him. "Hee, well, could say that. I mean, what better place to train for a new Adult level?" he asked. Even if he was still in his Child form, the fact that he had experienced his existence as an Adult level had been enough to make Brad feel pretty damn good.
Tetsu and Gryz figured out pretty quickly that Nik was his partner. Brad beamed up at the human he now knew was his true companion. "Yep! This is my partner, Nik" he introduced the big Maori boy to his old friends.
"Er, hiya" Nik said, attempting to speak Japanese with a heavy New Zealand accent. He then looked surprised as the younger boy asked if he was talented in any particular sport. To this, Nik smiled and was happy to answer.
"Actually, I'm pretty good at this sport called Rugby" he answered. "Are you familiar with that?" He understood that it was mainly a sport popular in countries under the old British Commonwealth and wasn't aware of its popularity in places like Japan.
And as to how long he knew Brad, Nik answered honestly to this too. "I admit I only knew he was my partner a few days ago" he said. "But this really nice spirit wielder called Toki helped me find him, and since then I feel like there's so much we need to catch up on".
Gryz then explained that Tetsu was quite excitable today, and that they were about to have lunch. He even invited them to have some if they wanted. Brad answered immediately. "Oh, gosh, that's really kind of you. Thanks, we'd be happy to have a meal with you" he beamed. Nik supposed he'd roll with that for now.

"Heee, so you're an adult stage now, that's interesting. We can train together if you want later. After the food of course. Let me get to that... Heeey Dinohumon! I'm going to borrow one of the cooking ground OK!?" Gryz hollered at the trainer of the training ground who gave him a thumb up. "Let's go to the resting area. We can talk more on the way."
Hmmm, so Nik is a rubgy player. "Sure do! My dad said it's a bit of a heavy sport though, and I'm not really allowed to play it at the meantime. I guess that makes sense, injury and all..."
"...I think it'll be matter of those kids getting easily outpowered by you instead, Tetsu..." Gryz muttered under his breath. The kid survived his claw attack back when he was berserking. Him holding back aside, that is still a Digimon's attack, and an adult stage at it. Tetsu's strength and endurance is nothing to scoff at. Digital World just tempered him to be stronger.
"Toki eh... that guy helped us too. We also reunited thanks to his help. I wonder how he's going now. His... recklessness kind of made me worried though... Hmmm so you're newbie eh... Well don't worry. Just ask Tetsu. He's seem really eager to talk. After all, it's been a while since our last adventure."
Once they arrived in the resting area, it's seem consisting of several yurts that can be used for resting. The cooking area is pretty much an outdoor campsite. Not that Gryz mind. He walked to a stall that sell some raw food. There are of course cooked food, but he preferred to cook himself.
"So how did you two met exactly? I mean, I know Toki helped you and all but you know..." Tetsu asked the newly formed duo. Now that his body has dried off enough from all the sweat, he decided to wear his shirt back on. Whew, talk about an intense training though.

Brad grinned at the prospect. "Heh, I'd be glad to, best work out our strengths and weaknesses in peacetime rather than war right?" he asked philosophically. The food in the meantime was an excellent idea obviously. Even if Brad was smaller than the average Bearmon, that didn't mean his appetite was too.
Nik meanwhile was pleasantly surprised that Tetsu knew what Rugby was. "Yep, he isn't wrong, it's a pretty heavy sport, which is kinda why I preferred to drop it once I finished high school" he said. While he was good at it, he still felt a little hollow after matches, that it wasn't fulfilling to his life in any way. Hence the reason why he meandered away from it.
Gryz mentioned that Tetsu probably outpowered other kids his age. To this Nik could agree. Tetsu was easily as big as he was when he was his age, perhaps even bigger? He blinked again when Gryz mentioned that he had met Toki too. But was surprised to hear that he seemed to be a bit reckless? "Really? What happened?" he asked out of curiosity.
As they reached the camping area, Tetsu asked how exactly they had met. Nik smiled as he remembered. "Well, it was at the Village of Beginnings. Toki brought me there through a portal. We thought I'd find my partner there because that's where digimon end up usually. Only none of the babies were my partner, but, by sheer coincidence, Brad was there that day too".
"Heh, yeah. Since I was unable to digivolve, I decided to return to ask Elecmon if I had any problems in my hatching and evolution to Child level" Brad explained. "He told me that there wasn't really that much, so I was about to take the Trailmon back, but, then Nik's digivice reacted to me and evolved me there and then when we finally met, so I got my answer there".
Nik then turned his curiosity back to Tetsu. "How about you? Did you meet Gryz in a similar way?" he asked.

"Preparation before action. That is how it should be," Gryz agreed "I think I need to see how different I am to the me back then. I have seen some difference here and there, but in the end, I need more peaceful time to see what my moves do and what it doesn't. Does it sounds strange? I still haven't fully discovered what this body can do after all."
Huh, so Nik dropped out of the sport after he's finished high school. Tetsu have no idea whether it's a pity or not, but he decided to ask anyway. "Then do you have any other hobbies?" he asked "Cooking maybe? I'm lately more into crafting.. Cooking is nice and all, but I don't like to stand around for a long time. Waiting a food cooking can be a pain too... so when I cook I prefer it to be quick or got a lot of process that I can do while waiting."
"I guess he just have some patience problem," Gryz commented wryly. "Ah about Toki... how to say... I think Tetsu know more than I do."
"...So... I... just happened to end in Village of Beginning after..." Tetsu looked at Brad, hoping that he have a word how to describe it. Surely he would know considering he was one among the two who gave Gryz a consolation and how to return to him "...well, an accident with Gryz... Um.... so... I was still recovering back then, but I can't stand being alone without Gryz so... with my chest still recovering and all, I looked for Gryz in the village of beginning. I thought he would be there, because his closest friend was the Elecmon in the village... but turned out he's not there..."
Gryz looked a bit guilty about that, but Tetsu just smiled. "...Well, I was helped by Toki. We trekked toward Server Woord late at night, but we met Mad Leomon, until Gryz rescued us at the end... Even though he should take it easy, Toki-san just... well... He keep fighting on and on. So I guess that's why he called him reckless. Toki-san was only child level back then."
"The Mad Leomon could as well as hurt him, but... I felt like there is something that drives the young man to do something to that extent... I don't know what, but I want to know," Gryz said."Although if he don't want to tell then I'll respect that."
The meeting was... strange huh... Tetsu smiled when he remembered tbfirst time he met Gryz. "...I actually was trying to board a train home, but accidentally entered the wrong platform. The Trailmon plaftorm. I just got in and found it was going to WRONG place... and then midway I got kicked out by it. I met Gryz and Brad then. Soon, Gryz just evolved. So that was the tale of the two Bearmon~"

Brad agreed with Gryz with a nod. "But... well... let's try not to hurt each other please" he said. "Perhaps... a simulation battle might be better? It's just... I really don't want to accidentally hurt you, or have you accidentally hurt me. It just makes combat so much less pleasant".
"If you're sure, Brad..." Nik mentioned to his partner. However, he had experience in this area. Those long hours of rugby training certainly weren't fun on the bad days, but he knew they strengthened him. "But if things do get a bit rough, you can always heal if you want, bro".
"Yes, that's true..." Brad began, then couldn't think of a counter-argument to that. Indeed, as long as neither sought to truly hurt the other, they could train as hard as they wanted and have the backup of healing if an accident happened.
As he mentioned that he had dropped out of sport, Tetsu asked if Nik had any other hobbies. "Yeah actually" he said, grinning. "I was in the book club at Shibuya High school. It's been really awesome there, even if my main language isn't Japanese, well, we got a neat exchange thing going. I recommend fun English books to others, and they recommend good Japanese novels to me. It's been really helpful this past year. I just hope there's a similar thing that can happen in college".
Tetsu mentioned cooking. "Hmm, well, can't say it's a talent of mine, but yeah, my mum taught me a lot of cooking" Nik replied. "Once I turned 14 I had to cook for my family once a week, and when I turned 16, twice a week. It got pretty fun eventually". Nik couldn't claim to be a star cook though, just he knew enough for the basics.
As for how they knew Toki, well, seemed it was something of an awkward story. "Ah don't worry bro, I don't mind why you were there" Nik said, hoping it would relax the kid from whatever happened. He didn't mind, he wasn't one to judge.
His smile faded at the story of what happened. "Whoa... I see" he said, that was... a little surprising. Yet, not so much in a way. When he had talked to Toki, Nik had the impression there was a lot on the spirit user's mind.
"I hope he doesn't get into trouble like that again" Brad said, honestly. "Toki's been really good to us".
Brad chuckled as Tetsu recounted the tale of how he met Gryz. "Yeah, that's the gist of it" he said, nodding. "So then, what's next?" he asked eagerly.

"Hmmm, a simulation seem to be good. I'm not fond of hurting one another too, so we could just... strategize with each other too? There's no need to fight, just to understand each other's action, we could also learn how to apply our abilities in different situation, what do you think, Brad?" Gryz suggested. "It might be a bit boring for many, but I think it's important to understand why we do something in a battle, to understand the strategy behind an action, or so I think. Do you agree?"
Huh, so Nik likes to read. "Reading can be a bit boring for me, but at the same time when I read something really interesting, I can't put it down somehow!" Tetsu admitted "lately ever since I got to really bad situation regarding digimon, my mom told me that I need to stay still. Well she still have no idea about Digital World but she knew that something must have happened.... so she suggested me to have another hobby. Reading DIY books seem to be way to go. Lately I've been improving on my woodworking skills, so I guess that's one of my hobby at the moment!"
Nik also mentioned how apparently he's starting to cook regularly since 14.
"Huh, so other country have that too. My bro said to me that I need to cook later when I'm 13, at least dinner, once a week. Our family, without my bro who's currently in college is just three of us... then again I guess that makes sense. After all, pops working in the farm, and mom... well, our house is big... but currently we're living with my grandpa, and he have a lot of maids. I have no idea what to do when everything pretty much done by them... Even thought I said there's no need."
"What's next?" Gryz asked "..Cooking of course~"
Currently, he's making honey based bbq sauce. At the same time, a huge sirloin (from the meat farm of course) is laid on stone plate, already cut into sizable portions.
"Yo Nik, mind cutting these veggies? Brad and Tetsu, you can decide what else you want for the lunch and make it yourself."
"I guess I'll make the mashed potato, then!" Tetsu replied. "What about you, Brad? Anything you want for the lunch?"
