Tetsu Plan #1: Let's Make a Resting Spot! [Open]
|
Post by tetsushi on May 1, 2018 8:22:16 GMT
"IT'S HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT!!" a voice of a boy who pretty much had shed his top clothes could be heard.
"...Well of course it's hot... by the way if this is hot for you, I'm pretty much almost dying over here," his partner Bearmon quipped. "But you want to do this, right Tetsu? You should stick to your plan. It'll be worth it I'm sure... But maan, if only Lukey doesn't really like this fur I'd seriously consider to... shave myself... Homeostasis, someone pass me cold water..."
The duo are Shishidou Tetsushi and his partner, Gryz the Bearmon. The pair currently setting baseline for a project that they have in mind. It's something REALLY big, something that he hope would help development of this land, and help people who wanted to explore it: A resting spot. It's not a inn, it's more to a base slash home that he could stay in. He doesn't like hot place, his liking is more to cold place like where he came from. Cold, green Hokkaido. Although apparently there was an option to stay on Snowflake, there very rarely are places where he can seriously do farming work. It also got inns... meanwhile here, there are nothing. The area just came up out of sudden, and it honestly made him curious.
He brought it up to Gryz who back then asked him if they could make their own home. A home to return home to, a home to invite their friends over... He know this isn't exactly his original idea or his best idea of a home, but in the end... Tetsu's adventurous soul and his desire to make something useful for Digital World won the heart of the brother bear. He decided to help him. For now though it's merely just trying to find the right spot. Sadly for them, that turned out to be harder than he expected.
Their plan is to set it somewhere on the base of the volcano, and it already a challenge of itself. With Gryz's highest form so far is Waru Monzaemon with very slow movement, they cannot outran any Digimon that might appear. Problem number two is that means he must stay in his Gryzmon form. What does that mean? Well... pretty much he gonna have a BAD time with all those extra fur. He's honestly dying under the heat.
"...This is why seriously shelter gonna be so good," Tetsu muttered.
"Aaaye... Hope we can find someone... Aargh... We might need to bail sooner than we expect."

During his quest to see the various sights of the Digital World, Toki found himself at the Spears of Megiddo. The island chain was infamous for the active volcanoes, which sounded both fascinating and terrifying at the same time. His spirit, Antylamon, hovered behind him "This place is rather hot, isn't it?" the spirit asked.
Toki had taken off his jacket and had slung it over his shoulder as they walked "Yeah, but we walked for miles in the desert heat a while back, remember? This is nothing compared to that. Still, I'll have to be careful not to overexert myself." he said.
He heard a couple of voices off in the distance and decided to investigate. Despite the constant threat of volcanic eruption, this place was rather nice. The abundance of plant life from the fertile soil gave the area a sort of tropical jungle feel to it. When he saw a couple of figures in the distance, he paused for a moment "Hey...aren't those..?" he muttered to himself.
When he got closer, the two certainly did seem familiar "Oh, wow! Tetsu, Gryz, good to see you!" he said as he approached. "What are you two doing way out here?" he asked. He looked over at Gryz and frowned "You don't look so good...you need some water?" he set his backpack down and pulled out a bottle of water to hand to Gryz.
"How long has it been? I don't think I've heard from you since I first came to the Digital World." Toki seemed far more sociable and talkative since the first time they met. He was stronger too, if his spirit's appearance was any indication. "Whatever it is you're doing, is it something I can help out with?"

Haaa... it's hot, it's so hot. Even Gryz swore that he cannot move anymore. Tetsu, being the crazy kid he is immediately jumped down from the Bear's back and attempted to drag him. Admittedly, his crazy strength when he was slamming the bear down back when he was corrupted was part of adrenaline and limit breaking strength, so there's none of those at this moment. He only managed to drag the bear good fifty centimeters away before looking really tired himself.
"Break... seriously... we need a break," the boy suggested. Gryz, in worse condition than his partner, nodded eagerly. Tetsu unclipped one of the heavy water bottle that the bear is carrying and splash it to him. Even the water felt so disgusting to drink now because the temperature was definitely warm. He's not in mood for warm water...
...Then someone approached. Tetsu seriously thought he was hallucinating when he saw a see through Antylamon. "...Uh, oh... um... Toki-san...? Hey, long time... no see... been around... three months or so?" the boy tried to remember. "...Ugh seriously, this is just too hot, and I'm already barechested! I can't even concentrate and now I'm seeing a hovering Antylamon!"
"...Not your fault, I can see that too, but I think I might be hallucinating," Gryz commented. "Hey lad, nice to see you here, you looks well. Unfortunately as you can see, we're just one step away from being a smoked bear and dehydrated kid."
"I need... cold water or something... before I can talk coherently," Tetsu would say to Toki. "Our water just... you know... really... warm. It's gross."

"Well my backpack's pretty well insulated, so the water I have should still be cold enough to be refreshing, here." he tried handing a couple of bottles to Tetsu and Gryz. The two of them were just wiped out to the point Toki started to worry. The heat and humidity here must have been torture for them. At least they recognized him.
Toki and Antylamon looked at each other for a moment when they were convinced Antylamon was a hallucination and started laughing "You're not that far gone, yet, guys! Antylamon here is my spirit. Since we've last seen each other, I've gotten a fair bit stronger myself. I found his totem in the desert some time ago." he explained.
Antylamon sat down next to the group "I assure you I am as real as anyone else here. Though my body may not be physical, I am still capable of speaking to others now, which is far more than what I was able to do as a small sprite. I must thank you two, for without Toki's endeavor to assist Tetsu in his time of need I may not have found him when I did."
Toki nodded "And to return the favor, let me offer my help once again. What's going on here that you're working yourself to exhaustion? Must be something big...though next time I'd suggest investing in something to keep drinks cold in this kind of environment." he chuckled. He wasn't trying to be mean-spirited or overly critical, just helpful.
"Also, have you two been well since we last met? It wasn't the best of circumstances to be fair due to the rampaging MadLeomon. I am glad to see the two of you have been successfully reunited." Antylamon said.
Toki smiled "Yeah, I am too! I was so worried when you said you lost your friend...heh, back then I barely even knew what a Digimon was, but now I've been exploring the world meeting all the ones I can."

"COLD WATER, FINALLY!" Tetsu cheered in glee. He quickly opened the bottle and pretty much had to pour it directly to Gryz's throat due to the bear being too dehydrated to even lift his head . After few blissful chugs later and leaving about half of the offered water, the two seem to be refreshed enough.
"Huh, I thought I was gone to point of no return," Tetsu would say "who thought that spirits can also materialize like that, never knew. Anyway, thanks a lot Toki-san, you're a lifesaver... haa..."
The black haired boy nodded. "But in that case it's not you or him that should thank us. It's us that should thank him... i mean, c'mon. A good guy will always get a good karma, I'm sure of it. You meeting him must be part of that karma."
"Nice words, Tetsu. I do believe that too. Toki and Antylamon, it's not us that you should be thanking, but your own selves that made the meeting possible. Your noble heart that helped another made you rewarded with a stronger power," Gryz added. Though it's reassuring that they seem to want to help.
"Hmn, that's a good idea. Honestly, we're here trying to build a shelter or sort." the bear explained "Exploration in new area should be more... how to say, intensive? Well, not everyone have the food or the infiniti-store, like us, for example. They probably also don't have any protective suits. So we're here thinking to try to survey area around base of the volcano to see if we can make anti-lava anti-heat place where you can, you know, chill. It's a resting spot with place to sleep, place to eat, self sustained through various means. But basically, place where you can get a nice sleep with cool air after you did your best in exploring this place. We're thinking to expand if this one goes successfully. For now we're just surveying possible place to set our base in."

A slim shadow would pass over the trio as a Harpymon circled high above them eyeing the group below with sharp blue eyes. Unlike the sweltering ground dwellers up in the air with the cool sea breeze rolling in and warm winds lifting her wings Wren was having quite the pleasant time. Then again she wasn't strictly bound to the earth like those below her as she surveyed the Tamer and his Digimon and the other human with them. The group certainly didn't look like they were carrying much in the way of bits for an enterprising digimon to rob.
Still alighting further up the Volcano on one of the rocky shelves the winged Digimon peered down at them cocking it's head to the side in thought. Finally growing rather curious about what they're up to she decides to call out. "Hey! What are you silly humans up too?" She asks folding her wings as she shuffles a bit on her perch.

Their reaction to finally getting a cool drink of water was quite something, though it begged the question just how long they were without a good drink. Toki and Antylamon both seemed to blush at the gratitude and praise they were getting. Toki rubbed the back of his head "A good guy? Me? While I appreciate the kind words I'm not so sure if..." he was stopped for a moment by Antylamon.
"It would do your mind a lot of good if you relaxed and accepted these compliments without dismissing them so casually. They have no reason to embellish your actions, so please...for your own sake..." Antylamon said. It was clear the spirit worried greatly about this particular topic. Toki had this awful habit of dismissing genuine compliments for one reason or another.
Toki sighed "You're right...you're right. Really, thank you. It means a lot to hear that. I'm glad that I was able to do so much for you." he said to Tetsu and Gryz. "So you're surveying a place for a rest spot here? Hm..." Toki thought for a moment "Well this place is full of volcanoes, right? That's not going to be an easy feat..." he tried to think of possible locations "I'd say somewhere away from foliage to avoid it being affected by wildfires...so it would have to be made of something fireproof as well..." he pondered. "Somewhere open too. Nothing spells disaster quite like some place cornered or on a cliff face when something happens. Are there any open fields nearby? Preferably far enough away from the volcano so people can react accordingly?"
Antylamon was rather impressed by Toki's logic in this situation. His points seemed to make sense for the most part. The spirit looked up at the flying Digimon "Hm? Oh, hello there. It seems we are arranging the construction of a safe place for travelers in the area. What about you? What brings you here? Sightseeing?"
When he heard Antylamon address someone in the distance, Toki looked in that direction and waved "Hello!" he greeted and nodded when Antylamon explained what they were doing "Yeah, that's the long and short of it. Do you want to help out? Someone who can fly could help us survey the land. You don't have to of course, I'd hate to feel like I was telling you to do something for nothing."

Hmmm, looks like the two was a bit hard on accepting praises. Oh well, Tetsu think they should just accept it already though. Gryz who heard Toki's argument agreed. He got a nice head above his shoulder, this one. But that's exactly what he want to say. They're doing this for something for a reverse reason.
"Ah, lad, we're actually trying to build three types of shelters. First one is the resting spot, one that you can just relax in without being afraid of exposed to danger, like the outer shelter, as the one you're proposing at the moment. This one is more to greet people who just came here... the second shelter however is far closer to the point of interest, preferably somewhere close to the volcano's base. as a point for restocking anything that you need prior to an expedition. Meanwhile, the third one... is disaster prevention shelter that could be used to take shelter in case of eruption. These ones should be in elevated ground or something, one that you can reach as soon as possible to save yourself. For now we're just going with number 1..."
And at that point, a Harpymon seem to took interest in what they're doing. Strange. Something felt different from her compared to a normal Digimon, but... hmmn...
"You're listening at the right time, lass. We're just talking about making shelters, yes. It can help for expeditions. It's still a new area, and we'd love to see what can we find here if we explore, but for that we need shelter, yes."

"I can certainly help you survey for a few bits." Wren spoke up lifting a sharp blood red talon to scratch lightly at one of her wings even as she cocked her head down at the two of them. If there was one thing Aster had taught her it was never offer work for free unless you got something in return.
"Though I am rather curious why you are attempting to build a shelter on the bad side of the island." The Harpymon inquired wondering if the trio even realized that there was a good side of the island. However at the Bearmon's comment the winged Digimon couldn't help, but frown.
"Lass? Strange talk coming from a teddy bear." Wren added with a snort of amusement fluffing her wings up and fluttering down to a slightly lower ledge as she slowly inched towards the group determining that they were unlikely to start throwing attacks at her just yet.

Toki nodded as he listened to Gryz's explanation for the various places they wanted to construct "This seems like a lot of work for just a few people. Maybe we could approach some Digimon who live in the area about what to do? Because this sort of thing will require a lot of workers. Not only will we need to find the ideal spots, we'll have to divert paths for the lava flow to keep it away from the buildings...and a sturdy enough cliff for the bunker or shelter...whichever we decide to make there." he said.
He looked up at Wren "Hm. Well how many bits is a few? Can't rightly pay you if you don't suggest a fair wage." he said. He never expected her to work for free, so he was glad he had some extra money left over from his various adventures thus far.
He quirked an eyebrow when she mentioned this was the bad side of the island "I'm new to the region so I'm not sure where on the islands are considered to be the good or bad sides...I can only imagine that they want to set up places closer to areas to hold expeditions and explore the deeper parts of the island?" he looked at Tetsu and Gryz curiously, as if to ask for some kind of confirmation. "So what's the end goal here?"
"Oh right! Forgot to introduce myself. My name is Toki Akiyama, and this is my spirit, Antylamon." he said, the two of them giving a slight bow to Wren. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
His spirit gave a little wave after he bowed "Yes, very much so. You seem to know a lot about the islands. Any advice you could share would be greatly appreciated."

"Oh no worries lad. We're not doing this by ourselves. We're of course going to ask people. But for now, we'll be looking for a bit of extra money to build this. Materials procuring might be easier than gathering money, hence plan to do it after this... but the rest probably need workers and most likely need approval of the big boss here. Which mean... I might need to fight... in case of they're being no different from the Valley of Dragons guys..."
Hearing the grim tone in Gryz made Tetsu gulp. If the lord of the volcano is as strong as he thought... then most likely they need Ultimate stage. Perfect stage Gryz at the moment can't even came close to it. But could they reach it? Ultimate stage that is...
"Well, lass... the plan was to survey the area, one by one. So it's not like we're going to really risk to build a shelter in bad place of the land. Unfortunately we came here a bit unprepared. That aside, I found it funny that you would call a four meter tall bear like me teddy bear. Perhaps it's because my face?"
Gryz's face is indeed calmer than most Gryzmon, with perpetual zen face (=w=) plastered on.
"Ah, Toki, lad. If you want to pitch in, you shouldn't pay it all by yourself. We still got money too. So Lass, name your price. Mayhaps we could pitch in together."
As for Toki's question... "The end goal is to do expedition, and might help some fire Digimons to settle in... but ultimately, we heard there's an 'inner sanctum' or sort here. We want to see what make these new area... pops out so to say," Tetsu answered. "...But other than that I just want a house in place that smells adventure!"

"The name is Wren though Aster calls me Birdie. I suppose if we become more then working acquaintances you can too." The Harpymon spoke up introducing herself as she finally seemed to deem them nonthreatening enough to flutter down landing on a rock just a short distance from them as she tucked her wings about herself and considered their questions and explanations.
"Well I'm not a native here, but I've flown over this island enough I can give you a rough verbal layout of it for two hundred bits. For five hundred bits I'll draw you a map here in the sand you can copy pointing out major landmarks and areas of the island you might find useful." She explained with a tilt of her head considering such to be a rather fair deal on her part though as she eyed the two humans for a long moment she reconsidered. "For a thousand a day you can have my personal services as a guide." Wren added ruffling her feathers at the grizzly bear Digimon and pulling a playful face at him.
"Just because you're big doesn't mean you're wise. Aster is almost twice my size and age and I've still had to fish him out of lakes a few times." The Harpymon huffed playfully as she curled her feathered tail about her feet and eyed the two humans to see if her business proposition was acceptable to them

"Wait hold on, why do you have to fight someone? Surely we can just talk with some people, right? I'd like to keep things peaceful if at all possible..." he said, worried about the idea of fighting someone here just to get workers to build what they needed. "I uh...can't say I know who exactly you're talking about, but hopefully they're not as eager to battle us?" he scratched the back of his head nervously.
Toki listened to Wren's wages and pondered for a while "I...huh...I'm not sure if I can pay one thousand bits daily for your help. Guess I'm not that helpful in that respect." he sighed. If that's the amount they wanted, he wouldn't be able to do anything about it.
He couldn't help but feel that Wren was being a little rude to Gryz, but he wasn't very good at reading that sort of thing. Was it just a joke? "W-well anyway I should be able to give the five hundred for the map if no one else has any ideas?" he offered. He didn't want Tetsu and Gryz to pay if they didn't have to.
He listened to Gryz's explanation for the purpose of the shelters "That would be good for those Digimon. But an inner sanctum? That sounds interesting but also kind of dangerous. I wouldn't want to disturb things here while we get it all set up." he brushed his chin. There were a lot of risks involved in a venture like this, but who knows what could be discovered in the process? "The most important part of all of this is if it really does help out some people along the way, like those fire Digimon you mentioned."
He nodded a little bit to himself "All in all I do think a place for adventurers would be kind of fun. Again, as long as everything's safe wherever we decide to build everything. How much do you think we're going to need, supply wise?"
His spirit thought for a moment before saying "It's going to take a lot of natural resources from the surrounding areas. I think that is our biggest concern, especially if we discuss things with the locals."

Ah, kids, eager to proof themselves, are we? Gryz only could chuckle at the comment about his size and the fact that the Harypmon told about fishing close friend (he assumed) out of predicaments. "Good going for you then lass. But even so, at least let me call you lass because that what I call people usually."
Gryz nodded at Tetsu. The boy took out his wallet and started counting the money. Meanwhile, Gryz tried to address Toki's worry.
"Lad, don't worry. I by nature hate fighting too. As long as there are way to get this on the table without fighting, I will do it. However, problem is not everyone likes that sort of civilized way to discuss. They want you to fight... and people in Valley of Dragon are usually that sort of bunch, ones that would attack you and whimper if you kick their ass. Only when you kicked their ass they'll listen, those meatheads...
Anyway, we're going to ask people in the settlement around here too. Yes, there are settlements, but they're immigrants last time I heard, so I have no concrete idea whether there are natives or not, but we'll just see, right? We'll indeed see if they have any problem with us taking resources. Local law before anything, you can say. Anyway, Lass... how about you be our guide for a day, draw us map at it, so I'll toss a thousand and my friend here toss five hundred? Sounds good?"

"That seems acceptable." Wren murmured both in agreement to Gryz calling her lass and in terms of her payment. Hopping down from her perch the Harpymon talon walked over to the group till she found a spot where the sand and earth was soft. Scratching one red talon into the dirt she began to draw.
"Well you see this is the windward side of the island. It gets buffetted by the harshest of storms and the waves here are the roughest. The other side of the island is protected from the winds and storms by the volcano only getting rain and having the richer ash fall into the soil rather then hot lava." The Harpymon explained doing a rough sketch of said island showing the volcano and the shape of the islands coast. Making it a point to mark out where the waves were roughest of there were cliffs and other such treacherous ground as well as marking a few lakes and springs.
"If you plan to set up a camp though you'll need water. I'd advise picking a spot near one of these points." She added pointing out three of the springs she'd marked that were positioned in relatively sheltered areas.
