The morning after reuniting with Rythix, Quill and his new companion set off from the Trailmon station for their next destination, Rustport Town. It was nice for Quill to not have to worry about flying, instead leaving the actual travel to someone else.
After a long train ride, the two reached their stop in Rustport Town, but it wasn't actually the final destination of their journey. After meeting the Captain (now known as Owen) near their base in the east, Quill had remembered the location of the 7/71st's original base, located underground in the Hardware Den. That was where they were off to today. Owen had said that getting the squad back together would be easiest if they were able to have a common place to congregate, and Quill couldn't agree more.
"We're close," Quill said, checking around above ground for the secret entrance. It had been a long time since he had been to the Hardware Den, so his sense of direction was still a bit off.

It has been a while since Rythix had taken the train anywhere, and he certainly didn't remember ever being in this particular area of the Digital World. The heat of the Western Flatlands didn't agree with him, so he was glad that he had the foresight to pack extra water. He looked miserable in the heat, so hopefully the Hardware Den would be a little cooler. Despite the heat bothering him he was rather excited to see who they were going to meet up with next. Would it be one person or would it be everyone else? Either way he was mentally preparing himself to meet them.
Rythix helped look around, but he wasn't entirely sure what they were looking for. If Quill looked tired at all he would hand him a water bottle and continue his search for the entrance. He spots a couple of more technological looking Digimon going somewhere "...over there...maybe?" he asked, looking over at Quill for confirmation. He didn't know this place at all, so he just went based on assumption.
He took in the sights around him "...how do...people find anything...?" he pondered. The wide open spaces were a stark difference to the city. He could probably fly high up and still not see the next landmark. It was a little intimidating for him. He idly drank some water as he waited for Quill to continue the search.

The search was starting to get frustrating. The Hardware Den wasn't exactly a secret section of the Digital World, so why was Quill struggling here? He graciously accepted a bottle of water from Rythix and took a large swig before continuing. Rythix pointed off at a few machine Digimon that were heading in a similar direction to them. Quill nodded quietly and followed along, hoping Rythix wouldn't get distracted.
After a short walk, the two would finally come upon their destination. A menagerie of windmills and solar panels signified their proximity to the entrance. "Finally," Quill muttered. "This is it." After a bit of scouting around, he spotted the hatch that would take them down into the Den itself. He opened the hatch and held it open, motioning for Rythix to head in first. "After you," he said. "I insist."

He looked down at the hatch and fidgeted nervously as he looked between it and Quill. Eventually he hopped down into the Den itself. He fluttered his wings to slow his descent until he landed. The caves felt uncomfortable for him. It looked like it was far too easy to get lost if you didn't get a guide, and the constant noise of mechanical constructs whirring in the distance only made the tension in the air worse for him. He gulped slightly and waited for Quill to come down to walk with him before he would go further.
The idea of meeting someone else who knew who he was made this worth it to him despite his hesitation. How would they react to seeing him again? Is it possible he would remember bits and pieces of his previous life if he met more of the squad? He didn't hold his breath about that. Besides, he was grateful enough for this chance.
He would look at Quill when he followed him down "...this place...frightens me..." he admitted, the various noises in the distance overwhelming is senses. "...it must...just be because...I'm new here...lots of...strange sounds..." he muttered. He stuck close to Quill for security.

--A while ago-- In her never ending search for answers, and her thirst for power to fuel her revenge, the savvy DemiDevimon had caught wind of a scent she knew to be familiar to her. They did say smell was the most direct path to memories, right? Something caught her nose hours ago, and it lead her deep into the heart of the Hardware Den. The DemiDevimon searched high and low for the source of the scent, she knew she was getting closer. This would lead her to come across a field of windmill and solar panels. Crimson hues narrowed in annoyance as her head begun to hurt from this, the scent seemed right here..and just like the scent--a flash of what could almost be called Deja Vu washed over her briefly. A deep sigh later she'd continue her search. The scent would finally lead her to nigh hidden hatch, glaring upon the hatch leading underground, she hesitated a moment. "...Whatever." was all she had to say, hooking the talons of her foot, the DemiDevimon begun flapping her wings, lifting the hatch up as she took off. Positioning herself perfectly over the hole, she'd dive in, pulling the hatch with her. A front flip would occure as she dropped through the hatch and it shut above her--wings spreading to catch herself and bring her down for a graceful landing. From here she'd silently begin searching the underground area, she didn't know it...but she'd found her former base of operations when under the 7/71st Recon. She'd stand here under he hatch for a while, unsure if she should continue. This debate went on for a while, finally after what seemed like 10 minutes, she'd slowly proceed forward. She followed through the caves, this went on for a while, she felt like she was going in circles...the scent she followed to get here was everywhere though, it threw her out of wack. She came across a more open space, little bigger then the cave had been, but no better then storage space, maybe? There was a lot of dark spaces here, but she could see right through the darkness...advantage of being essentially a bat. --Present-- But something burned the DemiDevimon's ear, Trinity turned to look back the tunnel she'd come from...the sound of the hatch opening echoed through the caves, and the soft mumbles of voices followed. Quickly she'd take flight, and make her way to a high dark corner in the slightly more open space among the cave system, where she'd keep herself until she could get eyes on her potential threats. The scents of two Digimon was creeping down the cave, pushed by the shifted air when the hatch was held open by Quill. She could hear the voice of Rythix in the distance, she was very close to the entrance...just in case, the stealth master would focus some power throughout her body. She whispered soft enough no one could hear, "Glass Reflection."--with these words her form seemed to poof, gone, disappeared from sight...she never moved though, simply camouflaging her presence, making her form completely transparent. Glass Reflection duration: 1/3

Rythix seemed nervous, so Quill decided to take point. This place was strangely well-lit for being underground. The town stretched out before them, a beautiful mess of wires and stone. Many machine Digimon were out and about, doing their daily routine. Quill smiled as he looked over the underground den. There were quite a few good memories in this place, and a few of them popped up in his head as he stood there. "This is our old home," he confirmed. "There's a chance a few of the others were drawn here, too." After a stroll through the town, they came upon an old, decrepit shack. It looked ancient, but Quill could still recognize it as the 7/71st's main base of operations. He never really liked their choice in location, but recognized that it was necessary at the time. If the squad got back together, he would be sure to lobby hard for a change in locale. Desert settings weren't exactly fun, and being underground as a bird Digimon was similarly unpleasant.
"Well, this seems to be the old base," Quill muttered. "It hasn't been touched in ages. I wonder if anyone else has been here since the last time we were all together."

Thankful that Quill decided to take point, Rythix followed close behind him through the underground town. It was a locale that was completely unfamiliar to him. He wouldn't want to get lost here, that's for sure. As he walked he adjusted his helmet's visor so it didn't fall down while he was here. The last thing he needed was for his vision to be blocked for even a second.
He looked at the old dilapidated shack that Quill said was their old base of operations. He winced a little bit "...should...fix. Looks...uncomfortable..." he muttered as they approached it. "...hope...others arrive..." he said. He was worried that the others wouldn't be as interested as he was to join up with them here. It has apparently been such a long time, so maybe not all of them were interested in meeting up again.
Despite his doubts, Rythix tried to remain positive. Maybe once a few had gathered he could bake something. Did the people here have ingredients for a baker? He hoped so. If not, he'd have to schedule something for a later day to make it up to them all for including him. He felt like there was someone else with them, but couldn't see anyone else in the immediate area.

((Sorry about misunderstanding the surroundings, sort of retroactively fixing it here.))
Trinity would have taken to the highest point in the large cavern that made up the underground town, where she kept her sharp eyes out. Two would enter the town proper, a Hawkmon and a HoneyBeemon, Trinity's scarlet orbs narrowing as she looked at the two. Her heart begun to act up, rate rising a bit after a small sinking feeling. She now was glaring at the two unaware rookies from above, neither noticed her which was exactly what she'd hoped for. Not even the natural inhabitants of the town seemed to have noticed the sneaky DemiDevimon.
But for some reason these visitors piqued Trinity's interest, maybe it was the feeling she got when she laid her crimson hues on them, but...something about the two kept her attention. She'd even silently move as they did, following their trail from above. They'd come to a shack, it was run down, hardly what one could call a 'base'...but home was home, as they say. Trinity would silently glide her way down, keeping her Glass Reflection ability active to keep her invisible. She'd let one flap of her wings out to slow her as she gracefully landed on the roof of the run down shack, so she could hear what they was saying.
She got there in time to catch Quill's words, hearing him speak...the voice sounded...well, familiar to her. Why? What was he even on about, a base? What, this shack? What of the others he speaks of...'all together'. She didn't like the feeling she was getting...she'd confirm her theories when she'd take a sniff of the air, close enough to catch the Digimon's scents. Indeed...both triggered thoughts of familiarity. She grit her teeth...just like Dart, these two seemed to remind the Digimon of her fragmented past.
She shut her eyes a moment, a small flash of an image brought on by these scents, crossed her mind...she seen silloettes of a group, just shadows, outlines--standing at the center was the very same Gaomon who'd haunted Trinity's fragile mind a few days earlier--and among the outlines...a Hawkmon and HoneyBeemon. Her eyes burst open, and her thirst for answers took over. Oh nooo, Trinity, why...
She'd leap from the roof of the shack, and blowing her cover her form suddenly appeared only a moment before being engulfed with light as she flew over the heads of both Quill and Rythix, no way they could miss this display passing overhead. The orb of light shattered and a new figure would gracefully land behind the two past 7/71st Recon members. Standing before them was a BlackGatomon, crimson orbs staring down the two--glaring more like it. The dark furred cat's tail would wiggle, waving around behind her--a sign of aggitation for sure. Was she really about to threaten them? No, not exactly...unless they didn't answer her quick enough.
"...Why do you two smell so damn familiar." hissed Trinity. "...I followed scents to this place, it stinks of smells I know I've known before...but I don't know where--and you two reek of these scents...." she would say sternly. See Trinity, this is why you had no friends. The Champion tier BlackGatomon was no bigger then either Rookie, could probably even be mistaken for a Rookie tier herself. It was clear she wasn't ready for beating around the bush...in her usual fashion the Digimon demanded answers--she'd really have to work on that one day...

Post by Owen on May 29, 2018 12:34:54 GMT
Owen had been on a meeting of his own in days lately. Being able to fly in his MachGaogamon form had made the search far quicker than it would have ordinarily been, but, it wasn't the finding that was the hard part, it had been the convincing.
After all, if the 7/71st was going to be a fully functioning unit, it needed the Executive Officer - the Second in Command. While Owen's memories of his old squad was foggy at the least, well, none of them had the experience of his old XO in getting things done at the administrative level. He remembered nights where he had fallen asleep on a cushion of papers a foot high, only to wake up with his head on a pillow on his desk, the paperwork completed at his side. Yes, bureaucracy in the dying days of the DWR had been like that, with supposedly fighting officers writing more reports than being what they were supposed to do - be leaders.
Of course, the world wasn't like that anymore, but, Owen felt like he needed his old friend at his side again, but the trouble was, she wasn't sure if that was what she wanted.
And so, not wanting to force her hand on the matter, Owen had simply given her a location, a time, and a promise that she would be welcome. And with that, they had parted ways. It was... hard to deal with the possibility of not having his old Lieutenant back, but, of course, it wasn't something he could force from her.
But, with this in mind, as Owen turned West, he at least thought that some old friends willing to bring the band back together was an awesome thing. They had done so much in the early days, outran death many times over before he inevitably caught up. But this time would be different. The 7/71st would no longer fight for a corrupt, decaying regime. They would instead fight for a better world, one shaped by harmony and coexistence.
And so, the MachGaogamon landed outside the familiar base of the Hardware Den. By now he had practiced landing enough to do it properly, cutting off his jets gradually as he lowered himself to the ground. He landed, then at once when it was safe, de-digivolved back to his Gaomon form.
Nowadays, the blue and white rookie level wore his old service tunic, the DWR insignia still on it. Not that he cared about the faded "D.W.R." letters embroidered on his right chest, but more the sword-and-wheel symbol on either sleeve. That and the two officer pips on each shoulder. Even if it signified his rank as a 1st Lieutenant rather than Captain, well, that was fine, he didn't feel like he deserved that old rank quite yet. Still though, he thought that them seeing him like this would make for quite the entrance!
And so, shortly after the others had descended, Owen opened the hatch and climbed down himself. The rungs of the ladder were rusty, but he still kept his grip for the most part.
...That was until about halfway down, when he failed to properly grip the rung with his paw - still wearing his boxing gloves (a rather bad idea for ladder climbing). And thus the Gaomon, yelping with shock, went tumbling down the entrance, landing in a heap at the bottom, his eyes spirals.
"Uhh... no, Logan, I can't take you to school ya silly boy, the humans don't teach digimon..." he said, clearly a little delirious from concussion. Welp, so much for the dramatic return of the officer. It would take a bit of time for him to recover.

Quill couldn't help but feel that they were being watched. He wasn't entirely sure if Rythix was good in a fight or not, but he feared that he might find out soon. An orb of light appeared above the Hawkmon's head, and when the light subsided a BlackGatomon stood before them. The crimson eyes and intense glarer told Quill all he needed to know about this Digimon's identity.
"Ah, Trinity," he said, sighing with a small bit of relief. "It has been quite some time. It seems your memories are a bit lost, just like Rythix's here." He would have liked to explain further, but a nearby crash made him lose his focus. "One moment."
Quill flew away from the shack and in the direction of the noise he had heard. He was shocked to find Owen lying in a heap at the bottom of the entry hatch. "Captain!" he cried. "Are you alright?"

Rythix shrieked as Trinity made herself known as he quickly hid behind a nearby panel. When it was clear she wasn't a threat and that Quill in fact, knew this Digimon, he reluctantly left the cover of the panel. He waved shyly and introduced himself. "...y-yes...I'm R-Rythix..." at least they wouldn't have to fight. He hated fighting. He just wanted to help and cook for everyone.
A nearby crash elicited another shriek from the poor bee Digimon before he looked back to see the MirageGaogamon degenerate into Gaomon. Once more, he calmed down after it was clear Quill knew who it was. He placed a hand to his chest and took a deep breath, embarrassed that he got scared so easily twice.
He should do something to get his mind off of it. He decided to investigate around the old base. He didn't want to touch anything, lest it crumble apart on top of him, so he opted to stay on the outside. Off the the side of the main doorway, he sat down on the metallic floor and placed his bag on the floor before he unraveled it. Inside were several well kept baked goods. Cookies, slices of bread, muffins, donuts, etc. All were arranged neatly on the cloth. "...s-snacks...if h-hungry..." he stated.
From this little spot, he would observe everyone else's interactions and remain mostly quiet unless he's directly addressed. Trinity made him feel slightly uncomfortable with how she appeared out of no where, but otherwise she seemed okay. She certainly wasn't hostile, which was all he could ask for at this point. He picked out a slice of bread and nibbled at it contently.
