Some people believe fate is a fickle being, never revealing its cards until they are relevant.
Scott didn’t believe in fate.
But he did believe his mother, the woman who he not only looked up to, but trusted with his life.
And when his mother said that what he saw in his dream was what he had to do? That it was fate?
Well, what else would he do?
He trusted her.
And that caused a series of events to happen, starting here.
Scott was finally starting to get used to this place. It hadn’t been a very long time since he moved here, and he still couldn’t read most of the signs around here. But hey, it was Japan, and not only was he not native, but he had never actually thought he would need to know the language.
At least his Landlord was nice. And spoke english.
Scott looked around his apartment appreciatively, it was finally in a state he could be proud of. Everything was where it should be, even his kitchen was cleaner than usual. Barring the… generous dusting of flour over his bench.
Okay, so he still needed to clean up that mess, but come on, he JUST put his latest creation in the oven.
It was at that moment, that there was a knock at the door.
Wiping his hands on his knees, covering his pants in their own generous dusting of flour, Scott walked to his door and opened it.
Surprisingly, nobody was there.
But someTHING was.
Sitting on his doorstep, was an odd little device coloured black with a few little buttons, clad with aqua coloured rubber grips.
Looking both directions from his door, Scott hoped he would find the owner, likely some kid trying to prank the foreigner who accidentally dropper some sort of toy or gadget. Seeing no fleeing pranker, Scott picked up the device and walked back into his apartment.
Curious, Scott looked over the device, although it held no sticker or the like with the owner’s name.
While he looked it over, the small device started beeping and the screen started flashing.
That was odd, Scott was certain he hadn’t pressed any of the buttons.
The beeping ended after a crescendo and the device flashed one last time, blindingly.
If there was anyone witnessing this moment, they would have been surprised, as, after the blinding light would have faded, Scott would no longer have been there. The only sign the Australian man had even been in the apartment recently, would have been the loaf of bread cooking in the oven.
When Scott opened his eyes next, he did not know where he was. Well, no, that would be false, because he DID know where he was.
Lost.
In the middle of a forest he didn’t recognize.
Great… and today was looking to be a good one too…
“Wh-where am I?” Scott mumbled to himself, before his mind stopped itself on one little detail.
“N-no! My bread’s going to BURN!!!!!!” The man cried, before falling to his knees.
Today was a good day.
Koromon had spent his entire day so far playing with some other In-Training level digimon he had met in the woods today. That had been fun, but they had decided that they would head back to their home. After saying goodbye, Koromon continued on his merry way.
He knew that somewhere, someday, he would meet someone that would stay by his side. Not to say that Koromon was lonely, but no digimon he had met had stayed by his side for very long. But this was different. He knew he would find a partner, someone to help him grow.
He knew that other digimon liked to go on about some digimon having destined partners. Normally, he would say he didn't actually believe in that stuff, but this? He had a gut feeling, Koromon trusted his gut, and if his gut said he had a destiny to fight side-by-side with someone else, well, who was he to argue? Its not like his gut had steered him wrong before.
And so, Koromon continued wandering, he had a feeling that something would happen today, something good, but something good had already happened, right? He had a great day... But his gut said something else was going to happen today, and Koromon was excited.
It was at that moment that he heard a cry of utter despair.
A cry mourning the future loss of delicious, delicious fresh bread.
And what did Koromon's gut tell him?
That something good was going to happen.
And that something good very likely involved bread.
